IT WAS APPROXIMATELY AUG. 5, 2015. IT WAS RAINING THAT EVENING, AND THE WIPER QUIT WORKING WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR 2013 FORD ESCAPE SEL IN A PARKING LOT. WE WERE UNABLE TO GET IT WORKING AND HAD TO CHANGE VEHICLES UNTIL THE RAIN STOPPED THAT NIGHT. WE TOOK IT TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER. THE WIPER MOTOR HAD ALREADY GONE BAD. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT'S EMPLOYEE INDICATED THE CAR'S EUROPEAN STYLE WIPERS WERE MORE PRONE TO FAILURE. ON THIS VEHICLE, THE DRIVER'S SIDE WIPER ROTATES RIGHT TO LEFT AND THE PASSENGER SIDE WIPER ROTATES LEFT TO RIGHT.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY I PUSHED ON THE ACCELERATOR TO PASS ANOTHER CAR SAFELY. THE ACCELERATOR DID NOT REACT FOR 4 SECONDS, THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND IF OUR GOVERNMENT IS NOT LOOKING OUT FOR US, WHO IS. I NOTICED OTHER POSTINGS LIKE THIS AND I HAVE COMPLAINED TO FORD THAT I HAVE A LEMON AND THEY HAVE CHOSEN NOT TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. DO I NEED TO START WRITING MY SENATOR OR CONGRESS PERSON FOR SOMETHING TO HAPPEN, WHAT DOES IT TAKE FOR SOMEONE TO NOTICE THESE COMPLAINTS, A DEATH FROM THESE DEFECTS? FORD HAS CHOSEN TO IGNORE IT AND APPARENTLY THE NHTSA AS WELL. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL ISSUES WITH MY ESCAPE AND HAVE COMPLAINED TO FORD, I AM A VETERAN AND CANNOT AFFORD A LAWYER AS I AM PUTTING THREE PEOPLE THROUGH COLLEGE. HELP!!!!!!!.....UPDATED 10-27-15 *BF
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LOOSING ANTIFREEZE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING HOT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V431000 (ENGINE, ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
I WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT ON JULY 26, 2015 AND THE SIDE IMPACT AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY AFTER I HAD RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE MANY MONTHS PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT> EVERY TIME I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR MAINTENANCE, THEY SAID THERE WAS NO "FIX" YET AT THE TIME. MY 2013 FORD ESCAPE WAS TOTALED IN THE ACCIDENT. I WAS DRIVING AT A RATE OF ABOUT 20/25 MPH WESTBOUND ON THE 2600 BLOCK ON ELM STREET ON SUNDAY 07/26/15 AT ABOUT 1:30 PM CST. I WAS ON THE LEFT LANE WHEN A CAR IN THE LEFT LANE MADE AN ILLEGAL LEFT TURN FROM HIS LANE IN AN ATTEMPT TO PARK AND T-BONED MY CAR INSTEAD. ALL AIRBAGS DEPLOYED EXCEPT FOR THE SIDE IMPACT BAG ON THE DRIVERS SEE THAT WAS ON THE RECALL. MY HEAD STRUCK THE DOOR FRAME AND I SUFFERED A CONCUSSION, MULTIPLE SOFT TISSUE INJURIES AND A TEMPORAL MANDIBULAR DISORDER
WHILE MY WIFE WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT FRONT FORWARD. THE ENGINE SUDDENLY REVVED AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED FORWARD, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO JUMP THE CURB AND CRASH THRU A STORE FRONT WINDOW.
TOOK CAR IN FOR OIL CHANGE. DEALER ADVISED THAT LEFT REAR BRAKE PAD WAS WORN TO 1MM AND THAT ROTORS NEEDED REPLACING. BRAKES, ESPECIALLY, REARS, SHOULD NOT NEED REPLACING AT 25,000 MILES AND IT WAS ONLY THE LEFT THAT WAS WORN. DEALER INDICATED THAT IT APPEARED THE BRAKES HAD SEIZED, CAUSING THE EXCESSIVE EARLY WEAR.
THE ENGINE STALLED/DIED WHILE DRIVING. I WAS ABOUT TO TURN ONTO AN EXTREMELY BUSY 6 LANE ROAD, SO I AM FORTUNATE (I SUPPOSE) THAT IT DID NOT DIE WHILE I WAS MAKING MY TURN. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CALL FOR HELP. MY CHILD WAS IN THE CAR WITH ME. VERY SCARY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND POWERED OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND DROVE NORMALLY. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CABRERA AUTO (CARR #2 KM 82.2 SALIDA EXPRESO HATILLO, PR 00614, (787) 333-8410) FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT NO FAILURE CODES WERE LOCATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,971. *TT CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAD MULTIPLE FAILURES OF ELECTRICAL STEERING. FINALLY, THE OWNER HAD TO REPLACE THE STEERING RACK AND PKNON BECAUSE IT STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY. UPDATED 9/4/18*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THERE WAS AN ABNORMALLY STRONG BURNING ODOR COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TOUCH SCREEN, RADIO, AND NAVIGATION FAILED. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 24,000.
I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE FREEWAY AND SUDDENLY MY REAR PASSENGER TIRE BLEW OUT. WHEN THE TIRE WAS CHANGED BY AAA, I NOTICED THE INNER SIDEWALL OF THE TIRE WAS BLOWN OUT. ALL OF THE YEARS THAT I HAVE BEEN DRIVING, I HAVE NEVER SEEN A HOLE BLOWN OUT IN A TIRE LIKE I HAVE WITH THIS ONE. I DECIDED TO DO SOME RESEARCH AND I'VE NOTICED THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL INSTANCES OF THIS HAPPENING. I BELIEVE THERE IS A SERIOUS ISSUE WITH THESE TIRES AND I BELIEVE SOME ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN AGAINST THIS COMPANY; IT IS WORTH AN INSPECTION ANYWAY. I WILL BE CONTACTING THE CONTINENTAL TIRE COMPANY MYSELF TO VOICE MY CONCERN. I'VE DRIVEN MANY VEHICLES AND I HAVE NOT HAD TIRES FAIL SO SOON, ESPECIALLY BEING MOSTLY HIGHWAY MILES.

DRIVING ON FREEWAY AT 70MPH AND LOST ALL POWER STEERING AND CODE POPPED UP ON SCREEN THAT SAID "POWER ASSIST FAILURE" THIS WILL GET SOMEON KILLED OR HURT IF A RECALL IS NOT ISSUED.
MY HUSBAND SET OUT TO CHANGE AND ROTATE MY TIRES THIS AFTERNOON. AFTER VERIFYING THE ARROWS ON MY CAR FOR PLACEMENT OF THE JACK, AND CHECKING WITH MY CAR MANUAL, HE WENT TO WORK. WHILE HE WAS REMOVING THE BACK PASSENGER TIRE, AFTER JACKING THE CAR, I DISCERNED CAR MOVEMENT. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO WARN MY HUSBAND BEFORE THE DEFECTIVE FORD ESCAPE JACK BENT AND CRACKED, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO COME DOWN HARD ON THE GROUND. MY HUSBAND'S HANDS WERE ALMOST PINNED BENEATH THE CAR AND I AM LIVID. THIS WAS EXTREMELY FRIGHTENING TO US BOTH! HE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED. THE FORD ESCAPE 2013 HAS BEEN NO PICNIC, WITH THE SEVERAL RECALLS SINCE 2012, ONE OCCURRING IMMEDIATELY AFTER WE PURCHASED WITH VEHICLE FROM THE DEALERSHIP IN 11/17/12. WE LOST THE CAR FOR ABOUT A MONTH, WHILE THEY KEPT IT AT THE DEALERSHIP, UNTIL THE PARTS HAD ARRIVED THAT WERE NEEDED FOR THE REPAIR. THIS IS THE FINAL STRAW. WE ARE GOING TO TRADE IN THIS POTENTIALLY DISASTROUS VEHICLE, BEFORE SOMEONE IN OUR FAMILY DOES GET INJURED. IT HAS BEEN (SEEMINGLY) ONE RECALL AFTER ANOTHER, TOO. NOW, THERE IS A RECALL FOR MY CAR REGARDING THE BACK PASSENGER DOORS APPARENTLY OPENING WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING AND COULD PROVE DEADLY FOR CHILDREN, IF IMPROPERLY HARNESSED. OVER THE PAST 2 1/2 YEARS THAT WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE WILL STALL OUT WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP. IT HAS HAPPENED 7 TIMES AND WE FEEL LIKE IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. WE HAD IT AT THE DEALER WE PURCHASED FROM 3 TIMES NOW FOR THIS CONCERN AND THEY CANNOT FIX AND DENY THERE IS ANYTHING WRONG. THE DEALER SAID THEY DID NOT CARE IF WE HAD A PROBLEM AS THEY CANNOT FIND WHAT THE CAUSE IS. I AM A STATE CERTIFIED ASE AUTO TECH AND I THINK I KNOW WHAT IS WRONG. BUT AS I SAID THE DEALER DOES NOT CARE. THE SERVICE WRITER EVEN WROTE THE WRONG DESCRIPTION ON THE RO OF WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. HE WROTE IT FOR A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND WE NEVER SAID THAT. WE TOLD HEM THAT IS STALLS AT SLOW SPEEDS FROM A STOP OR HAS HAPPENED ON VERY LOW SPEED TURNS.
THE PASSENGER DOOR OPEN WHILE I WAS DRIVING. RECALL 14S03 DOES NOT APPLY TO MY MODEL.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LATCH FAILED AND PREVENTED THE DOOR FROM CLOSING. THE FAILURE ALSO OCCURRED WITH THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
THE DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE, AFTER BRINGING THE VEHICLE TO FORD MARGATE THEY DIAGNOSED THAT THE LATCH ON THE BACK DOOR WAS BROKEN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS HAD HAPPENED ON OTHER FORD VEHICLES AND WAS ON RECALL FOR SEVERAL OTHER VEHICLES TYPES BUT NOT YET FOR THE FORD ESCAPE 2013. I WAS TOLD TO KEEP MY RECEIPT SO IF THIS DOES BECOME A RECALL I WILL BE REIMBURSED. THE DEALERSHIP WAS CERTAIN SINCE IT HAD HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OTHER VEHICLES IT WOULD ONLY BE A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL IT BECAME A RECALL ON THE FORD ESCAPE. I AM GRATEFUL THIS HAPPENED WHEN THE CAR WAS IN PARK AND THAT THE LATCH DIDN'T BRAKE WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION BECOMING A SEVERE ENDANGERMENT FOR MYSELF, FAMILY AND OTHERS.

IN ADDITION, POST CRASH WAS DISPLAYED ACROSS THE MESSAGE BOARD. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000.
ON THE COMMUTE TO WORK, THE VEHICLE WAS ON THE EXPRESSWAY GOING THE ALLOWED SPEED LIMIT OF 70 MILES PER HOUR, SUDDENLY THE DASHBOARD SENSOR LIGHT INDICATED TO "CHECK TRANSMISSION," THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY STALLED ON THE EXPRESSWAY. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD MULTIPLE RECALLS DUE TO WIRING AND STALLING SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED NEW IN 2013. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V813000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE ESCAPE TO PRESENT I HAVE NEVER GOTTEN ANYWHERE NEAR THE GAS MILEAGE THAT WAS LISTED ON THE WINDOW TAG. I DO NOT EVEN GET ON THE ROAD WHAT IT SAID I SHOULD GET IN TOWN. IT STINKS.... I HAVE TALKED TO THE DEALERSHIP PERSONS ABOUT IT EVERY TIME I AM IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE OR RECALLS. THEY JUST TELL ME THAT IT ISN'T BROKEN IN. HOW MANY MILES DO I HAVE TO HAVE TO BE BROKEN IN??? I AM AN OLDER LADY SO I DO NOT DRAG, DIG OFF, OR ANY FOOLISH DRIVING....THE GAS MILEAGE JUST STINKS. IS THERE ANYTHING THAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT IT. MAYBE FORD NEEDS TO HAVE TO FOLLOW KIA'S EXAMPLE AND HAVE TO GIVE GAS CARDS TO MAKE UP FOR THE POOR GAS MILEAGE. I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS SEVERAL TIMES ON LINE, BUT NOTHING HAPPENS. UNLESS THIS CHANGES, I WILL NOT BE INTERESTED IN BUYING A FORD AGAIN. I WILL GO BACK TO FOREIGN MAKE....ALWAYS GOT GOOD GAS MILEAGE THERE. WANTED TO BUY LOCAL AND BUY AMERICAN MADE, BUT BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FORD IS NOTHING BUT A COMPANY THAT IS OUT FOR MONEY. THEY COULD CARE A LESS HOW RELIABLE THEIR VEHICLES ARE OR ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE. FORD MOTOR COMPANY SHOULD STOP MAKING VEHICLES AND BE SUED. THEY HAVE NOTHING BUT FAULTS IN THEIR VEHICLES. IN MINE, THERE IS MULTIPLE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AND THE COOLING FAN RUNS CONSTANTLY AND THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. I HAVE CONTACTED THE FORD DEALER THAT I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM AND THEY COULD CARE A LESS AND CONTINUE TO SAY NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT. MY ENTIRE CARE BASICALLY HAS A SEIZURE WHEN IT SHIFTS AND WHEN YOU PUT IT INTO GEAR AND THEY SAY THIS IS NORMAL? THESE GUYS ARE A BUNCH OF FOOLS. THAN THEY PROCEED TO TELL ME I NEED TO SPEND $700 ON SOMETHING THAT WASN'T GOING TO FIX MY CAR TO GET MORE MONEY AND TO MAKE ME BELIEVE THAT THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT. I AM EXTREMELY UPSET AT THIS COMPANY. THEY WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL EVEN THOUGH I HAVE READ MANY OTHER REVIEWS ABOUT PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE SAME VEHICLE. FORD IS NOTHING BUT A BUNCH OF CROOKED PEOPLE. NEVER BUY A PIECE OF CRAP FORD. THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR VEHICLES AND COULD CARE A LESS ABOUT FIXING AN UNSAFE VEHICLE BECAUSE OF A FAULT IN THEIR END. BUY A CHEVY OR SOMETHING THAT IS MORE RELIABLE AND A COMPANY THAT HAS WAY BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE THAN FORD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE SHUTTING THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR, THE CONTACT'S RIGHT RING FINGER WAS CAUGHT BY THE DOOR. THE CONTACT WAS RUSHED TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM WHERE MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED TO CORRECTLY AMPUTATE THE TOP OF THE RIGHT RING FINGER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.

THEY HAD TO REPLACE AT NO COST DUE TO RECALL 13S12 THE WATER PUMP, LONG BLOCK 1.6LTR ENGINE, ENGINE INDICATOR ASY-OIL LEVEL,BATTERY,VACUUM PUMP,THERM.ASSY,STARING ANGLE SENSOR, COOLANT BYPASS SOLENOID, LOWER STANDPIPE HOSE. REPROGRAMMED APIM, PCM, ICP, RCM. FORD DISCONTINUED THE 1.6 ENGINE BACK 2015 AND THE SEX MODEL. I CONTINUALLY HAVE SYSTEM ISSUES EVEN AFTER THEY REPLACED MY ENGINE. I WANT A DIFFERENT ESCAPE.

ON 5/15/15, WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE FOR APPROXIMATELY 1.5 HOURS, THE NOTIFICATION FOR LOW ENGINE COOLANT CAME ON. UPON INSPECTION, THE COOLANT LEVEL WAS DOWN ABOUT 1 INCH FROM THE MAX LEVEL. PLEASE, NOTE THAT THE COOLANT WAS TOPPED OFF ONE WEEK PRIOR. COOLANT LEVEL WAS FILLED TO MAX LEVEL AGAIN. ON 6/6/15, UPON STARTING VEHICLE, THE NOTIFICATION FOR LOW ENGINE COOLANT CAME ON AGAIN IMMEDIATELY. THE CAR HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN IN 24 HOURS UP TO THAT TIME. UPON INSPECTION, THE COOLANT LEVEL WAS AGAIN ABOUT 1 INCH BELOW THE MAX LEVEL. VEHICLE WILL BE TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER FOR INSPECTION/REPAIR.

THE TECHNICIAN PERFORMED ADDITIONAL UNKNOWN REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,615.
The power steering overheated malted. Had to replace unit 2,500. Also seatbelts no longer retract...safety issues....told car could catch on fire if i drove car with bad power steering.

99% OF THE TIME I PUT MY FOOT FROM THE GAS TO THE BRAKE , MY FOOT ENDS UP UNDER THE BRAKE PEDAL ON THE UNDERCORNER BEFORE I MAKE A QUICK ADJUSTMENT TO GET MY FOOT ON TOP OF THE BRAKE WHERE IT BELONGS. THIS HAPPENS EVERYDAY SINCE I GOT THE VEHICLE. YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE WHERE THERE IS A WORN SPOT UNDER THE BRAKE PEDAL AND ON THE VERY MOST RIGHT SIDE OF IT. I CURSE IT EVERY SINGLE TIME, EVERY SINGLE DAY. ONE OF THESE DAYS I CAN SEE IT COMING. I WOULD SAY THAT THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS BUILT.
DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY IN TRAFFIC DUE TO AN ACCIDENT ON THE SHOULDER, ABOUT 35 MPH. I WENT TO ACCELERATE AFTER PASSING THE ACCIDENT, I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AROUND 60 MPH. THE RPM'S WERE BOUNCING UP AND DOWN, AND THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATED. I SLAMMED THE BRAKES AROUND 90 MPH. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO REV AS I PULLED TO THE SHOULDER. A SHERIFF LEFT THE SCENE OF THE ACCIDENT I PASSED AFTER SEEING WHAT HAPPENED. THE SHERIFF ESCORTED ME OFF THE FREEWAY, AS MY CAR WOULD NOT GO OVER 40 WITHOUT REVVING THE ENGINE. I WAS ESCORTED TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THEY HAD NOT HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING BEFORE. *TR
WENT IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND MY HUSBAND WAS ADVISED THAT THE HEAT SHIELD OVER THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER APPEARED TO BE DISINTEGRATING. THE TECHNICIAN SUGGESTED IT WOULD BE A FIRE HAZARD AND NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED ASAP. WE WENT TO IMMEDIATELY TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY ATTEMPTED TO ASSERT WE HAD HIT SOMETHING. BASED ON POSITION OF SHIELD I'M NOT ENTIRELY SURE THAT'S POSSIBLE. WE HAD NOT HIT ANYTHING WITH THE CAR SO THE ASSERTION WAS JUST OFFENSIVE, THAT PLUS THE FACT THAT THERE IS ZERO OTHER DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE. SO, WE HIT SOMETHING THAT WAS ABLE TO DAMAGE THE HEAT SHIELD IN THE UNDER BODY OF THE VEHICLE WITHOUT CAUSING ANY OTHER DAMAGE? RIGHT! THEN THEY SAID COULD BE 'WEATHER' CONDITIONS AS WE LIVE ON A GRAVEL ROAD. THIS APPEARS TO BE A CONSISTENT THEME FROM OTHER POSTINGS, ALTHOUGH IN THEIR CASE THEY WERE TOLD SNOW! MAYBE FORD DOESN'T MAKE VEHICLES TO BE USED IN OTHER THAN PRISTINE DRIVING CONDITIONS. WONDER WHERE I'D HAVE TO TRAVEL TO FIND THOSE? APPARENTLY, FORD ELECTED TO INSTALL A PART ABOVE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER THAT DOESN'T APPEAR AS WELL CONSTRUCTED AS THE PANS I USE TO MAKE BAR-B-QUE ON MY GRILL; AND WHICH INCIDENTALLY DON'T APPEAR TO HOLD UP TO EITHER SNOW OR GRAVEL ROADS IF YOU BELIEVE THE EXCUSES OF THEIR SERVICE ADVISERS. OUR DEALERSHIP CHARGED $167 FOR THE HEAT SHIELD AND ANOTHER $109 TO INSTALL IT FOR A TOTAL BILL OF $290.09 AFTER TAXES. THE PART ITSELF APPEARS DESIGNED FOR FAILURE AND THEN ON TOP OF THAT WE WERE PRICE GOUGED WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE ADVISER ACTUALLY GAVE ME THE PART TO SHOW ME AFTERWARDS. IT IS LITERALLY SHOCKING TO ME THAT SOMETHING THIS CHEAPLY MADE COULD BE INSTALLED IN THE UNDER BODY OF ANY VEHICLE. BAR-B-QUE PANS THAT I CAN BUY FOR 4 FOR $10 WOULD HAVE PROVIDED BETTER LONGEVITY. 2013 SEL AND HAVE FRONT END NOISE. WHEN TURNING TO THE LEFT AND SOMETIMES TO THE RIGHT, THE FRONT END WILL MAKE A LOUD POPPING NOISE. IT FEELS LIKE THE FRONT WHEEL IS FALLING OFF. BEEN TO FORD OVER 6 TIMES AND PROBLEM IS BACK FOUR MONTH LATER.

I GOT INTO MY VEHICLE ON APRIL 30, 2015, STARTED THE VEHICLE AND A WARNING MESSAGE CAME ON THE CONTROL PANEL-I DON'T RECALL THE EXACT VERBIAGE BUT IT WAS SOMETHING LIKE "IMMEDIATE MAINTENANCE REQUIRED-POWER ASSIST STEERING FAULT FAILURE". I TRIED TO TURN MY STEERING WHEEL, BUT IT WOULD NOT MOVE. I SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE, WENT BACK INTO THE BUILDING I HAD JUST LEFT. WHEN I CAME BACK OUT ABOUT 5 MINUTES LATER AND STARTED THE CAR THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT AND I COULD STEER THE VEHICLE. I LOOKED ONLINE THAT NIGHT AND SAW THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF FORD CUSTOMERS WITH 2008-2013 VEHICLES THAT HAVE/ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME EXACT ISSUE. FORD STATED THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE BUT HAVE NOT YET ISSUED A RECALL. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT MORNING. I WAS TOLD THE STEERING BOX HAD FAILED. THE COST IS $1800. I CALLED FORD DIRECTLY AND LET THEM KNOW I FEEL I SHOULD HAVE NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR, EVEN THOUGH MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I LET THEM KNOW I WOULD BE HAPPY TO PAY FOR ANY REPAIRS DUE TO NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR, BUT THIS ISSUE IS NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND FORD IS AWARE OF A PROBLEM. FORD OFFERED TO PAY $600 OF THE $1800. THEY KEEP TELLING ME TO KEEP MY RECEIPT AND THEY WILL REIMBURSE ME THE REST, IF A RECALL IS ISSUED. I DRIVE 100 MILES PER DAY TO AND FROM WORK. IF MY STEERING HAD FROZEN 2 HOURS EARLIER ON THAT DAY, I QUITE POSSIBLY COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. HOW DO YOU CONTROL AN SUV GOING 70 MPH WITHOUT ANY STEERING? THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS DEFAULT THAT I FEEL FORD IS NOT TAKING SERIOUSLY AND CHARGING THEIR CUSTOMERS TO FIX.

BEFORE WE WERE ABLE TO PULL OVER THE CAR WENT FROM FULL SPEED TO SAFE MODE WITH NO POWER TO MOVE THE CAR. WE DRIFTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WITHOUT GETTING HIT BY ANOTHER CAR (MIRACLE). WE HAD THE ESCAPE TOWED TO DICK SMITH FORD IN RAYTOWN, MO. THEY FLASHED THE PCM, AND SAID IT FIXED THE PROBLEM. I HAVE HAD THE ESCAPE BACK 3 WEEKS AND IT DID IT AGAIN SAME THING ON THE HIGHWAY AGAIN ON MAY 2ND. I WAS GOING 70MPH AND BARELY MADE IT TO THE SIDE; THE BACK OF MY CAR WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE OF THE HIGHWAY. THE ESCAPE SAID ENGINE OVERHEATED PULL OVER SAFE, WENT FROM 70MPH TO NOTHING IN LESS THAN 5 SECONDS. I WAS DODGING CARS TO PULL OVER, BUT I HAD NO POWER AND COULD NOT MOVE THE CAR. I CALL FOR ROADSIDE AND TOLD THEM IT WAS AN EMERGENCY, I WAS GOING TO BE HIT AND COULD BE KILLED IF I DID NOT GET HELP RIGHT AWAY. ONCE AGAIN WE HAD THE ESCAPE TOWED TO DICK SMITH FORD IN RAYTOWN, WERE IT IS STILL TO THIS DAY BEING LOOKED AT. THEY HAVE TO CALL TECH SUPPORT/ENGINEER TO FIND THE PROBLEM. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE MONDAY MORNING MAY 4TH. I WAS GIVEN A CASE NUMBER AND WAS TOLD A REGIONAL SERVICE MANAGER WOULD CALL ME. IT HAS BEEN TWO DAYS AND NO CALLS FROM FORD. I AM VERY UPSET AND ANGRY. THIS ESCAPE IS UNDER FULL FACTORY WARRANTY STILL, AND IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. MY FAMILY COULD OF BEEN KILLED IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS CAR. AT START-UP, THERE WAS AN ERROR MESSAGE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ABOUT AN ENGINE FAULT INSTRUCTING ME TO SEEK SERVICE IMMEDIATELY. AS IT WAS AFTER 6 PM, AND THE DEALER SERVICE SHOP WAS CLOSED, I DRIVE HOME. THE ENGINE WAS "SPUTTERING" AS IF IT WAS GOING TO STALL. THE CAR HAD MINIMAL POWER AND DIDN'T ACHIEVE A SPEED OVER ABOUT 25 MPH. I RAN A VEHICLE HEALTH REPORT, WHICH INDICATED A PROBLEM IN THE ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, OR POWERTRAIN; IT INSTRUCTED ME TO HAVE THE CAR SERVICED. THE NEXT MORNING, THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS. AT THE DEALER THE FOLLOWING DAY, NO PROBLEM CODES CAME UP, AND THE DEALER WOULDN'T REPLACE THE ETB SINCE THERE ISN'T A RECALL. I BELIEVE, HOWEVER, THAT THE PROBLEM IS THE ETB AND THAT I'M BEING PLACED IN AN UNNECESSARILY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN THE ETB CAN FAIL UNEXPECTEDLY. PLEASE ISSUE A RECALL! *TR

TWICE THE PASSENGER INTERIOR DOOR FRAMES HAVE SEPARATED FROM THE DOOR AND BECAME CAUGHT ON ITEMS INSIDE THE VEHICLE SUCH AS THE SEAT ETC. THIS CAUSES THE DOOR TO BECOME STUCK AND UNABLE TO OPEN. BOTH TIMES IT TOOK WE WELL OVER 30 MINUTES TO DISLODGE THE FRAME AND REATTACH TO THE FRAME TO BE ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR. BOTH TIMES, THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN JUST PARKED AND I WAS TRYING TO RETRIEVE MY INFANT DAUGHTER FROM THE BACK SEAT. I FEAR THAT IF I HAD BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SAFELY RETRIEVE MY DAUGHTER FROM THE VEHICLE. IF THIS OCCURS WITH NO IMPACT, WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IN CASE OF AN IMPACT? TOOK DELIVERY OF 2013 FORD ESCAPE AS NEW CAR CONSUMER PURCHASE IN AUGUST 2013. BATTERY HAS BEEN BIGGEST ISSUE TO DATE. I HAVE HAD DEAD BATTERY ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS TO DATE, LATEST BEING THIS MORNING (MARCH 16, 2015). BATTERY GOES DEAD AFTER AS LITTLE AS 48 HOURS OF NON-USE. FORD DEALERS HAVE TESTED THE BATTERY TWICE DURING MAINTENANCE VISITS. THEY SAY THE BATTERY MEETS MINIMUM TEST STANDARDS. I CAN'T LEAVE THE CAR ANYWHERE FOR 2+ DAYS W/O DISCONNECTING BATTERY.
