MY VEHICLE'S REAR RUNNING LIGHTS FAILED AT NIGHT. THE CAR HAS AUTOMATIC HEADLIGHT CONTROLS, AND EVEN AFTER CYCLING THE LIGHT SWITCH SEVERAL TIMES (OFF-PARKING-ON-AUTO), I WAS UNABLE TO GET THE RUNNING LIGHTS TO ILLUMINATE. THE ISSUE CLEARED UP AFTER LEAVING THE CAR PARKED OVERNIGHT, HOWEVER THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE PASSENGER SIDE LIGHT FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. BOTH BULBS CHECKED OUT FINE. *TR
COOLANT LEAKS, WAS REPAIRED IN 2014 PER RECALL. COOLANT LEAK ISSUE KEEPS HAPPENING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD RANDOMLY DOWNSHIFT, WHICH CAUSED THE ENGINE TO REV AND THE SPEED TO DECELERATE. AN UNKNOWN DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
VEHICLE INFO CENTRE INDICATED A BRAKE LIGHT MALFUNCTION. ALL 3 BRAKE LIGHTS WERE INOPERATIVE. PERSONALLY CHECKED FUSE WHICH WAS NOT BLOWN AND CONTACTED SAM GALLOWAY FORD IN FORT MYERS FOR SERVICE APPOINTMENT. WAS TOLD ONLY A BULB WAS BURNT & THAT ALL BULBS WERE NON-FUNCTIONAL BECAUSE OF "XMAS TREE EFFECT". I FIND IT UNSAFE FOR A VEHICLE TO LOOSE ALL BRAKE-LIGHT FUNCTIONALITY BECAUSE 1 BULB IN THE CIRCUIT EXPIRES. THIS IS EXCEPTIONALLY DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT; WHICH IS WHAT HAPPENED HERE. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THIS IS A FACTUAL SITUATION WITH THIS VEHICLE. *TR
DRIVING IN PARKING LOT FAN SPEED ACCELERATED AND THEN ENGINE SHUT OFF. I TRIED STARTING AGAIN 3 TIMES AND THE SAME THING HAPPENED. I CALLED AAA AND HAD THE CAR TOWED TO HYUNDAI DEALERSHIP IN RENO WHERE WE PURCHASED THE CAR. THERE WAS A SMELL OF BURNING IN THE ENGINE. THE DEALER REPORTED THE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD OF THE AIR COMPRESSOR CLUTCH COIL IS INTERNAL SHORT CAUSE BURNING SMOKE. THEY RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE AIR COMPRESSOR. FORD SAID MY CAR IS NOT INCLUDED IN THEIR RECALL LIST. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 12V551000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AND STATED THAT THE RECALL HAD SURPASSED A REASONABLE TIME FOR REPAIR. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED, AND WAS ADVISE THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND COULD NOT ADVISE WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, COOLANT BEGAN LEAKING AND CAUSED THE ENGINE TO SEIZE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,500. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
ENGINE CAUGHT FIRE DUE TO A FORD RECALL NOTICE, BURNING VEHICLE. VEHICLE IS A TOTAL LOSS. FORD DID NOT HAVE THE REPLACEMENT PARTS AVAILABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF LOSS. AS OF THIS DATE (APRIL 26) FORD HAS NOT ACCEPTED RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS FIRE LOSS. *TR
THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT POWER LOSS ISSUE ON A 2013 FORD ESCAPE PURCHASED ON DECEMBER 31, 2013. WE HAVE HAD THE ISSUE SINCE THAT DATE. AT SPEEDS UNDER 35MPH AND ALWAYS WHILE MAKING A TURN, THE VEHICLE LOSES ALL POWER AND MUST BE COASTED TO A SAFE SPOT, STOPPED, PUT INTO PARK, AND THEN TURNING THE KEY TO RESTART. THIS ISSUE HAPPENS 1-4 TIMES A WEEK DURING DAILY USE. WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER SHIP 3 TIMES. THE FIRST TWO TIMES I NOTIFIED THEM OF THE ISSUE VERBALLY, BUT SINCE IT DID NOT HAPPEN DURING THEIR TEST DRIVES, NOTHING WAS DONE OR NOTED. THIS LAST TIME, THE ISSUE OCCURRED ON DECEMBER 24, 2014, WHILE MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN THROUGH A CITY INTERSECTION THAT ALSO PUT THE VEHICLE ON A SLIGHT INCLINE, THE POWER WAS LOST, AND WE COULD NOT COAST TO SAFETY TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. ANOTHER VEHICLE HAD TO LOCK ITS BRAKES TO AVOID A COLLISION. ON JAN 2, 2015 I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO LAKEWOOD FORD IN LAKEWOOD, WA WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED. THEY HAD THE VEHICLE FROM JAN 2 - JAN 9 2015. THEY TEST DROVE IT A TOTAL OF 26 MILES. THEY DID NOT USE A "FLIGHT RECORDER" TO CAPTURE ANY DATA. THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND I WILL BE TAKING IT TO EVERY FORD DEALERSHIP I CAN FIND UNTIL ONE OF THEM ACKNOWLEDGES AND REPAIRS THE ISSUE. I WILL ALSO BE RECORDING VIDEO OF THE ISSUE. THE CAMERA WILL CAPTURE THE INSTRUMENTATION AND ROAD. *TR

I WAS ~350 MILES FROM HOME IN N. MINNESOTA ON 2/7/2013 AND WAS ACCELERATING FROM ~30 MPH TO 55 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND LOOSE POWER. A DEFAULT MESSAGE APPEARED ON DRIVER'S INFORMATION DISPLAY FOLLOWED BY AN OK MESSAGE. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO SHAKE AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST ~5MPH. I PULLED INTO A LOCAL BUSINESS PARKING LOT AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. I THEN ADDED A BOTTLE OF GAS LINE ANTIFREEZE BELIEVING THERE WAS A FUEL PROBLEM SINCE THE OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE WAS EXTREMELY COLD (-20 F TO ?? 30F) AND I HAD REFUEL ~75 MILES BEFORE. AFTER THE ADDITION OF A BOTTLE OF FUEL LINE ANTIFREEZE I IMMEDIATELY STARTED THE ENGINE. I PROCEEDED TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER TO HAVE THE VEHICLE CHECKED OUT. THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT FIND AN ERROR CODE. THE VEHICLE PERFORMED NORMALLY UNTIL THE PROBLEM REAPPEARED MARCH 30TH AT ~ 19,500 MILES (AGAIN IN N. MN). A DEFAULT MESSAGE RE-APPEARED ON DRIVER'S INFORMATION DISPLAY FOLLOWED BY AN OK MESSAGE. AFTER PULLING OVER ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD, I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND IMMEDIATELY RESTARTED IT. THE ENGINE HAS PERFORMED AS NORMAL SINCE THE SECOND INCIDENT. AFTER RETURN TO MY HOME I REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP. THE DEALER MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT CONSULTED WITH FORD MOTOR COMPANY FOR A SERVICE RECOMMENDATION. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED ON 3/9/2014 PER FORD'S RECOMMENDATION AT ~ 20,000. AGAIN THERE WAS NO ERROR MESSAGE STORED ON THE VEHICLES COMPUTER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE IDLING AT A STOP LIGHT, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO OVERHEAT AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE COOLANT HOSE ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY STATED THAT THERE WAS COOLANT IN CYLINDER 4 AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000.

OIL LEAK FOUND AT ROUTINE OIL CHANGE. OIL LEAK WAS WITH TURBOCHARGER. TURBOCHARGER WAS REPLACED. ENGINE SHUTS DOWN DUE TO LOW OIL. THIS CAR IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE IN HIGH TRAFFIC AREAS DUE TO UNKNOWN SHUTDOWNS. CAR EXHAUST IS A BLUE CLOUD. CAR EXHAUST PIPES DRIP OIL. THE CAR STICKS OF OIL. THE WINDOWS NEED CONSTANT CLEANING FOR OIL RESIDUE. FORD SAYS OIL CONSUMPTION TEST PASSES. FORD REFUSES TO TEST THE ENGINE OIL LEVEL AFTER 3000 MILES AND ADDING ONE QUART OF OIL. FORD IS MAKING EVERY EFFORT TO GET THIS VEHICLE OUT OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD BY REFUSING TO ADMIT THEIR FAILURE TO ACCURATELY PERFORM AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WITH DOCUMENTATION. FORD REFUSES TO PERFORM ANOTHER OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. THIS CAR IS A LEMON. I4 ENGINE IS A GUTLESS GAS-GUZZLER. *TR
WAS REAR ENDED BY A VEHICLE GOING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED WHILE SITTING AT A LIGHT. PASSENGER SEAT BELT DID NOT ENGAGE. MY DAUGHTER WAS THROWN TO THE LEFT AND FORWARD THEN TO THE RIGHT AND BACKWARDS. ALMOST HITTING THE DASH. HAS WHIPLASH AND COLLAR BONE ISSUES. CANNOT LIFT HER ARMS. CALLED FORD AND REPORTED THIS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
VEHICLE STALLS FOR NO REASON WHEN COMING TO A STOP. VEHICLE IDLES ROUGH AND STALLS. SERVICE ENGINE NOW WARNING COMES ON. NHTSA NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM NOW. LOOK AT ALL THE OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME VEHICLE ON THE WEB SIT. SOMEONE IS GONG TO GET KILLED OR INJURED BECAUSE FORD CAN NOT OR WILL NOT ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. *TR
THE HEAT SHIELD ON THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE CAR IS VERY CHEAPLY MADE AND IS FALLING APART. IT IS BASICALLY FIBERGLASS INSULATION COVERED WITH SHINY ALUMINUM FOIL. IT IS VERY FLIMSY AND EXPOSED TO THE ELEMENTS. THE SHIELDING HAS TORN LOOSE AND IS NOW HANGING DOWN FROM THE UNDERCARRIAGE. IT IS LAYING OVER THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND DIRECTLY TOUCHING IT. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY HAZARDOUS SITUATION. I'M SURE ONCE IT CATCHES ON SOMETHING IT WOULD BE EASILY RIPPED FREE OF THE VEHICLE AND LEAVE ABSOLUTELY NO HEAT SHIELDING BETWEEN THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND THE FLOORBOARD. THE DEALER STATED THAT THIS IS NOT A WARRANTY REPAIR. HE BELIEVES THAT SNOW HAS CAUSED THE DAMAGE. THERE IS NO OTHER DAMAGE TO THE UNDERCARRIAGE EVEN THOUGH THE HEAT SHIELD IS HIGHER THAN OTHER PARTS. *TR

THERE WAS A BURNING RUBBER SMELL AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NO LONGER MOVE FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHERE THE DEALER DETERMINED THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS RECALLED AND SERVICED IN DECEMBER 2012. THERE WAS SEVERE ENGINE OVERHEATING AND FLUID LEAKS COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. UPDATED 03/18/14
THE LEFT LIGHT WENT OUT. WENT TO DEALER TO GET THE LIGHT BULB CHANGED. AFTER AN HOUR, THEY UPDATED ME THAT "SOME" ELECTRICAL FAILURE OCCURRED AND THAT IT COULD TAKE "HOURS" TO FIX. IT FOR SURE IS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, BUT NOW I AM SKEPTICAL TO DRIVE THIS CAR. AND THIS CAR IS NEW, AND UNDER 3 MONTHS OLD WITH ABOUT 3500 MILES. INCIDENT OCCURRED ON FRIDAY EVENING. TOOK TO DEALER ON SATURDAY MORNING. WAS TOLD THEY WERE OUT OF BULB, AND TO WAIT UNTIL TUESDAY. TOOK TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. THEY WERE KIND ENOUGH TO GET THE NEEDED PART (BULB) BY MONDAY. TOOK TO THEM ON MONDAY. THEY PUT IN THE BULB. THEN REALIZED POWER WASN'T REACHING THE BULB POINT. SO HAD ME GET IT BACK IN ON TUESDAY. CHECKED ON TUESDAY, TO FIND OUT IT WAS THE BCM (BODY CONTROL MODULE) THAT WAS OUT. SO HAD TO WAIT ANOTHER WHILE THEY GOT THE PART. FINALLY GOT THE VEHICLE DELIVERED ON WEDNESDAY EVENING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH AND APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE BRAKES FAILED. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A CONCRETE LANE DIVIDER AND WENT AIRBORNE. THE VEHICLE CROSSED OVER FOUR LANES OF TRAFFIC BEFORE COASTING TO A STOP. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A FRACTURED LUMBAR SPINE AND INJURIES TO THE LEFT ELBOW. THE FRONT PASSENGER SUFFERED A HEAD INJURY, FRACTURES TO THE LUMBAR AND THORACIC SPINE AREAS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE SEAT ALSO FAILED UPON IMPACT. BOTH OF THE INJURED OCCUPANTS WERE TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL FROM THE CRASH SITE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,000.

THE HEAT SHIELD ON THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE CAR IS VERY CHEAPLY MADE AND IS FALLING APART. IT IS BASICALLY FIBERGLASS INSULATION COVERED WITH SHINY ALUMINUM FOIL. IT IS VERY FLIMSY AND EXPOSED TO THE ELEMENTS. THE SHIELDING HAS COME LOOSE AND THE MORE I DRIVE, THE MORE THE WIND PULLS IT AND TEARS IT FROM THE CAR. IT IS NOW HANGING DOWN FROM THE UNDERCARRIAGE AND ALMOST TOUCHING THE GROUND, LAYING OVER THE EXHAUST AND DIRECTLY TOUCHING IT. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY HAZARDOUS SITUATION. IT SEEMS TO BE A VERY POOR DESIGN TO HAVE SOMETHING THAT IS SO DELICATE AND FLIMSY TO BE DIRECTLY EXPOSED JUST INCHES FROM THE GROUND ON THE UNDERCARRIAGE WHERE ANY SORT OF ROAD DEBRIS COULD EASILY DAMAGE IT AND CAUSE IT COME INTO DIRECT CONTACT WITH A HOT EXHAUST PIPE. I'M SURE ONCE IT CATCHES ON SOMETHING IT WOULD BE EASILY RIPPED FREE OF THE VEHICLE AND LEAVE ABSOLUTELY NO HEAT SHIELDING BETWEEN THE EXHAUST AND THE FLOORBOARD. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A STRONG GASOLINE ODOR FROM INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. ERROR MESSAGE DISPLAYS HIGH TEMP, SLOW DOWN, STOP SAFELY, ENGINE SPEED HAS BEEN REDUCED.!! I WAS SO ALARMED AT WHAT WAS HAPPENING HAD I THOUGHT QUICKER I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN A PICTURE WITH MY PHONE OF THE MESSAGE. I WAS ON A HIGHWAY WHERE I COULD NOT GET OFF THE ROAD, ONLY SLOW DOWN AND PULL TO THE RIGHT. I GOT STOPPED AND SHUT CAR OFF. WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND STARTED CAR BACK UP. MESSAGE INSTRUMENT DISPLAYS THE SAME MESSAGE. THEN MESSAGE DISAPPEARS AND I DRIVE TO MY DESTINATION 3 MILES AWAY VERY SLOW . REACHING MY DESTINATION I GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND THE SMELL OF ENGINE COOLANT IS VERY STRONG. NO LEAKS OF ANY KIND OBSERVED. IT HAS NOW BEEN 15 MINUTES LATER AND THE SMELL OF ENGINE COOLANT IS STILL VERY PUNGENT. I HAD CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP THIS PAST WEEK ON MONDAY 12/9/13 REGARDING THE SMELL OF COOLANT AND A RECALL I WAS TOLD ABOUT. I WAS ADVISED BY THE SERVICE ADVISOR FOR THE RECALL PARTS WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE AND TO CONTINUE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND IF I ENCOUNTERED A ISSUE TO IMMEDIATELY STOP DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND HAVE IT TOWED TO THERE FACILITY AND I WOULD BE PLACED IN A LOANER VEHICLE UNTIL MY CAR WAS FIXED. NOW AT THIS POINT I DO NOT FEEL SAFE TO CONTINUE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. THE RECALL I WAS INFORMED ABOUT IS RELATED TO A ENGINE OVERHEATING ISSUE AND POSSIBLE FIRE COULD RESULT DUE TO SOMETHING WITH OIL. PLEASE HELP. THIS ISSUE WAS WITNESSED BY MY PASSENGER. *TR
THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM ON THE VEHICLE IS A HAZARD. WITH NO MORE THAN 3-4 INCHES OF SNOW THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE TO GET ME AND OCCUPANTS OUT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. A CLOSE CALL WHEN MY ONLY OPTION WAS TO BACK UP AND THE PEOPLE BEHIND ME TO OFFER ME ROOM. THE VEHICLE SITS WITH THE ACCELERATOR FLOOR OR MODULATED BUT WILL NOT MOVE. AFTER READING THE OWNERS MANUAL IT TELLS ME " IN SOME INSTANCES OF DEEP SNOW" (NOT!) TURN OFF THE TRACTION CONTROL VIA THESE 4-5 STEPS. THERE WAS A SUDDEN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND A VERY LARGE INCREASE IN STEERING EFFORT AS IF THE CAR HAD BEEN TURNED OFF AND THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING BOOST. IT BECAME EXCEEDINGLY DIFFICULT TO TURN THE WHEEL AND CONTROL THE VEHICLE. I MANAGED TO SLOW DOWN AND MAKE MY WAY TO THE SHOULDER WHERE I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND RESTARTED IT, WHICH CLEARED THE PROBLEM. THIS HAS NOW HAPPENED THREE DIFFERENT TIMES IN A SIMILAR MANNER. FORD SERVICE HAS INDICATED THAT CAN FIND NOTHING WRONG... THIS IS EXTREMELY SERIOUS AND UNDER SOME CIRCUMSTANCES, THE LOSS OF CONTROL COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. *TR
FORD ESCAPE HAD STARTED TO STALL AND QUIT SUDDENLY WHEN SLOWING OR AT A SPEED BELOW 40MPH. THERE HAVE BEEN 10 OCCURRENCES. ABOUT HALF OF THE TIME, THE ENTIRE DASH BECOMES BLACK AND IT IS SOME TIME (LONGEST BEING 4 MINUTES) BEFORE THE DASH IS LIT UP AGAIN. DURING THIS TIME, I AM UNABLE TO GET ANY RESPONSE FROM THE CAR AT ALL. THE OTHER TIMES I AM ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO RESTART AFTER ABOUT 15-30 SECONDS. THE OCCURRENCES HAVE BEEN IN HIGH TRAFFIC SITUATIONS, AFTER DARK AND IN SUB ZERO WEATHER. I AM A SINGLE PARENT AND PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FOR PEACE OF MIND AND SAFETY OF MYSELF AND MY CHILDREN. I AM NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR FOR FEAR OF BEING HIT OR REAR-ENDED. OTHERS HAVE ATTEMPTED TO ASSIST ME AND I FEAR THEY ARE ALSO IN GREAT DANGER AS WELL. THE DEALER CLAIMS THAT THE CAR DOES NOT THROW A CODE. IT SUGGESTS TO ME (I AM NOT AN ENGINEER OR A SPECIALIST TO MAKE THIS EVALUATION) THAT THE COMPUTER MAY HAVE REBOOTED ITSELF. AFTER THE FIRST FEW OCCURRENCES, THE DEALER HAD THIS CAR FOR 5 DAYS AND IT DID NOT STALL FOR THEM. I WAS TOLD THAT I HAD TO TAKE THE CAR BECAUSE THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. AFTER THE OCCURRENCES THIS PAST WEEKEND, I SPOKE WITH A SERVICE ADVISOR WHO DID SOME CHECKING TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY NEW DATA ON THIS ISSUE. THERE WAS NOT. I AM TOLD THAT UNLESS THEY CAN PULL A CODE AND FIND SOMETHING TO FIX, THAT I AM TO KEEP THE CAR. THEY WILL NOT LET ME OUT OF MY LEASE UNLESS I PAY THE BALANCE OF MY LEASE PAYMENTS. RESULT WAS REPLACEMENT OF WIRE HARNESS WHICH APPEARED TO MAKE ENGINE RUN BETTER. IN NOV/DEC 2013 ENGINE DIED AGAIN TWICE WITHIN ABOUT TWO WEEKS AT ABOUT 30 MPH WHEN SLOWING AND TRANSITIONING BETWEEN FREEWAYS ON RAMP. LATER, AFTER GETTING GAS, CAR EXHIBITED "ENGINE FAULT - SERVICE ENGINE NOW" MESSAGE WHEN I STARTED THE CAR AFTER FUELING. HAD CAR TOWED TO FORD. FORD STATES PROBLEM IS FIXED BY TSB 13-12-12 (APPLIED YESTERDAY) WHICH SUPERSEDES TSB 13-7-5 . NOW THAT IT IS COLDER OUT, MY CAR HAS GONE FROM OVERHEATING TO MISFIRING FROM THE DEFECTIVE CAC/TORQUE CONVERTER IN THIS CAR. I'VE NOTICED THAT THE MISFIRING DOES NOT SHOW UP ON THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR WAS ABLE TO BE READ BY MY OBD READER. MISFIRING CAN RUIN THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND CAUSE EMISSION ISSUES. MY 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH ON RESIDENTIAL STREET HAVING JUST COMPLETE A LEFT TURN WHEN HER FRONT LEFT FRONT TIRE BLEW OUT CAUSING HER TO LOSE CONTROL OF HE CAR AND HIT THE CURB. THE DEALER KEPT THE VEHICLE FOR 2 WEEKS, WITH NO SUCCESS IN FINDING A PROBLEM. THE NEXT MORNING, THE ENGINE FAULT SERVICE NO ERROR MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE DASH. WHEN HIS WIFE ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE AWAY, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED SHARPLY AND TOOK OFF DOWN THE ROAD AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED, LEAVING HER WITH NO CONTROL OF THE ACCELERATION OR SPEED OF THE VEHICLE. SHE APPLIED THE BRAKES, AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED. THE CONSUMER DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND ON THE WAY THERE, IT REPEATEDLY SPUTTERED AND THEN IT SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND LUNGED FORWARD ALL THE WAY TO DEALER. EVEN THE ENGINE FAULT CODE DISPLAYED ON THE DASH, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO GET AN ERROR CODE ON THE COMPUTER. THE MECHANIC TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE WITH THE CONSUMER, AND IT WAS THEN THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED EVERYTHING THE CONSUMER WAS REFERRING TO. WHEN THEY RETURNED, THE MECHANIC, HOOKED THE COMPUTER BACK TO THE VEHICLE, AND AN ERROR SHOWED A HARNESS ISSUE, WHICH WAS RELATED TO A WIRE SPLICING INTO TWO WIRES, WHICH SOMEHOW BECAME TANGLED DURING ASSEMBLY. *JB
VEHICLE STARTED WITH WARNING 'ENGINE FAULT SERVICE NOW'. RESTARTED VEHICLE AND MESSAGE WAS GONE. LATER THAT DAY WHILE DRIVING WE NOTICED SEVERE JERKING OF THE VEHICLE WHILE CHANGING SPEEDS AND NOTICED THE ENGINE FAULT WARNING WAS DISPLAYED. PULLED VEHICLE OVER. RESTARTED AND THE WARNING WAS GONE. BROUGHT TO DEALER FOR OVER 2 DAYS AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPRODUCE ERROR AND THEREFORE UNABLE TO FIX ANYTHING. MONTHS LATER THE PROBLEM STARTED RECURRING AGAIN WHILE REDUCING SPEED ON A HIGHWAY EXIT RESULTING IN EXTREME VEHICLE JERKING AS IF TRANSMISSION WAS FAILING, AT THIS TIME WE NOTICED THE ENGINE FAULT WARNING HAD REAPPEARED. CONTACTED FORD SERVICE CENTER AND THEY WILL TAKE ANOTHER LOOK, BUT WITHOUT A RECALL THERE WILL BE NOTHING THAT CAN DO. WITH SO MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS IT IS ASTONISHING THAT THIS IS NOT A KNOWN RESOLVABLE ISSUE FOR FORD. *TR
THE AUTO STALLS RANDOMLY ON OCCASION. I FEEL THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION, HOWEVER, THE DEALER CAN'T GET A CODE SO FORD WILL NOT FIX. FORD CLEARLY KNOWS THIS IS A THROTTLE PROBLEM WITH MANY OF THEIR VEHICLES, AND AS I UNDERSTAND, IT HAS BEEN INVESTIGATED FOR A RECALL SEVERAL TIMES. HOW CAN I GET THEM TO FIX IT? *TR
WITHIN JUST 3 WEEKS OF PURCHASING OUR CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED 2013 ESCAPE TITANIUM (16K MILES), THE VEHICLE STALLED TWICE WHILE STOPPING AT AN INTERSECTION. DASH LIGHTS COME ON, PUT IT IN PARK, TURN IT OFF AND RESTART AND I AM BACK ON THE ROAD. NOW 2 MONTHS SINCE PURCHASE, IT HAS STALLED LIKE THIS 7 TIMES. A FEW TIMES, WE HAVE GOTTEN THE "ENGINE FAULT TAKE VEHICLE FOR SERVICE" MESSAGE WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE, BUT THIS DOES NOT COINCIDE WITH THE DAYS OF THE STALLS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP TWICE TO NO AVAIL. THE VEHICLES COMPUTER IS NOT STORING ANY CODES TO IDENTIFY THE FAILURE. TECHNICIANS HAVE DRIVEN THE VEHICLE EXTENSIVELY WITH A LAPTOP CONSTANTLY DIAGNOSING SEARCHING FOR ISSUES. NOTHING. THIS IS TRULY UNBELIEVABLE TO ME THAT THIS PROBLEM IS POSSIBLE IN A NEW VEHICLE, LET ALONE THAT IT CANNOT BE DIAGNOSED! I AM VERY WORRIED AFTER READING OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE THAT IT MAY JUST BE A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE IT STALLS IN BUSY TRAFFIC. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE SUNROOF SHATTERED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 12,000.
