PURCHASED 3/28/20, MILEAGE 78,277; 4/8/20 VEHICLE STALLED PULLING OUT OF DRIVEWAY AFTER WARNING LIGHT INDICATED "COOLANT LOW," "STOP SAFELY" - VEHICLE STOPPED ITSELF AND WOULD NOT RESTART; 4/9/20 LEFT VEHICLE AT FORD DEALER SERVICE DEPT.; 4/13/20 DIAGNOSED WITH BLOWN HEAD GASKET DUE TO COOLANT LEAKAGE, ENGINE REPLACEMENT REQUIRED; 4/23/20 INFORMED THAT ENGINE WAS ON BACK ORDER; 5/18/20 5 PM, (OVER 1 MONTH LATER) REPAIRS COMPLETED, PICKED UP FROM DEALERSHIP; DROVE APPROX 3 MI., STOPPED FOR 10 HRS; 5/19/20 3:30 AM, DROVE APPROX 10 MILES, STOPPED FOR 1/2 HR; DROVE OFF FROM 2ND STOP, VEHICLE STALLED WITHIN 3 MILES AFTER WARNING LIGHT INDICATED "COOLANT LOW," "STOP SAFELY," AND TEMP GAUGE MAXED OUT ON HOT, VEHICLE DIED AND WOULD NOT RESTART, LEAVING ME STRANDED ON THE SIDE OF A RURAL HIGHWAY AT 4 IN THE MORNING. OPENED HOOD JUST IN TIME TO SEE REMAINING COOLANT DRAINING FROM RESERVOIR. ALTHOUGH I HAVE A NEW, UNOPENED JUG OF COOLANT, LOCATION OF THE RESERVOIR REQUIRES A FUNNEL TO ADD COOLANT !!! - (CAR DOES NOT COME EQUIPPED WITH FUNNEL AND OWNER'S MANUAL FAILS TO MENTION THIS!) TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR FAILED TO REMAIN CLOSED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE DOOR FAILED TO LOCK FROM THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE MANUALLY OR WHEN USING THE KEYFOB. THE CONTACT CALLED O.C. WELCH FORD (4920 INDEPENDENCE BLVD, HARDEEVILLE, SC 29927, (843) 288-0100) AND INFORMED THE DEALER OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V643000 (LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE LOW COOLANT LEVEL MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SEVERAL INDEPENDENT MECHANIC S HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A CAUSE FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JORDAN FORD (609 E. JEFFERSON BLVD, MISHAWAKA, IN 46545) AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED DUE TO A FAILURE OF CYLINDER #3. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,900.
I OWN FORD ESCAPE 2014 SE. I WAS AT MY FORD/LINCOLN DEALERSHIP FOR 6-MONTH MAINTENANCE AND WAS INFORMED THAT ALL LUG NUTS OF MY VEHICLE ARE SWOLLEN ARE TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $240 + TAXES. THEY TOLD ME THAT I DO NOT HAVE A CHOICE AS THEY WON'T BE ABLE TO PUT TIRES BACK. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF ANYTHING LIKE THAT AND TRUSTED THE DEALERSHIP. FRANKLY, I COULD NOT VISUALIZE THE PROBLEM. UPON RETURN, I HAVE RESEARCHED IT AND HAVE DISCOVERED THAT HIGH-QUALITY REPLACEMENT LUG NUTS ON AMAZON ARE $20- $40 (A PACK OF 20). APPARENTLY, INSTEAD OF SOLID STEEL NUTS, FORD SELLS ITS VEHICLES WITH LUG NUTS THAT HAVE A STEEL CORE WITH CHROME, ALUMINUM, OR STAINLESS STEEL CAPS ATTACHED TO IMPROVE THE APPEARANCE OF THE VISIBLE PART OF THE LUG NUTS. THE CAPS SWELL, CRACK, AND DELAMINATE TO THE POINT WHERE THE LUG NUTS CANNOT BE REMOVED WITH THE LUG WRENCH PROVIDED BY FORD. THIS LEAVES OWNERS AND LESSEES WHO GET FLAT TIRES OFTEN STRANDED ON THE ROADS WITHOUT THE ABILITY FOR EVEN TOW TRUCK DRIVERS TO REMOVE THE SWOLLEN LUG NUTS. THIS MEANS A TOW TO THE SHOP JUST TO HAVE THE LUG NUTS REMOVED AND THE TIRE REPLACED. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH FORD, WITH NO LUCK SUCCEEDING, BUT WILL BE FOLLOWING UP WITH THE DEALER AND FILING A COMPLAINT WITH MY CREDIT CARD PROVIDER IF NOT SUCCESSFUL. THERE WAS A CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT THAT WAS DISMISSED BECAUSE THERE WERE NOT SIGNIFICANT "ENOUGH" AND THE ISSUE WAS DISMISSED. *TR
TRANSMISSION IS FAILING. I'M LITERALLY WAITING FOR IT TO DROP DEAD. WHEN DRIVING, THE VEHICLE HAS MULTIPLE HARD SHIFTS INTO DIFFERENT GEARS. THIS OCCURS NO MATTER WHAT GEAR IT GOES TOO. THE POWER ACTS LIKE IT WANTS TO GIVE UP AND ROCKS THE CAR BACK AND FORTH WHILE ACCELERATING AND SHIFTING GEARS. SOMETIMES THE SHIFT DOESN'T EVEN OCCUR. MOVE THE PRNDL LEVER TOO FAST FROM ANY SETTING, THE CAR MAKES A LOUD JERKING NOISE. ALSO WHEN PARKING ON ANY HILL WITH THE E-BRAKE ON, THE CAR MAKES A VERY LOUD NOISE SOUNDING LIKE THE BRAKES ARE GOING TO GIVEAWAY AND THE CAR MOVES. ITS BARELY NOTICEABLE, BUT I SAT IN THE CAR TO TEST IT , AND WHILE SITTING IN THE CAR YOU COULD TOTALLY TELL IT MOVED. IT DOES THIS 3 TIMES MINIMUM WHEN PARKED. *TR
THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT LINK BUSHING WORE OUT MY VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 15,000 MILES FORD DEALERSHIP IN FORD MOTOR COMPANY TELL ME THAT THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS THERE IS NO RECALL. WHEN I SEARCH THE NATIONAL TRANSPORTATION SITE I AM COMPLAINING ON RIGHT NOW, I SEE NO RECALL ABOUT IT YET IT'S THE SAME EXACT RECALL ON OTHER 2014 FORD ESCAPES THE MINUTE I PUT MY VIN NUMBER AND IT SAYS THAT I'M GOOD TO GO AND SAYS 0 UN REPAIRED RECALLS BUT THE SAME ISSUE IS HAPPENING WHY AREN'T THEY FIXING IT FOR FREE WHY IS THERE NO RECALL. I STOPPED PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, SO IT WAS STOPPED WENT IN THE STORE CAME OUT AND SHIFTER WAS STUCK. BECAUSE OF THE ISSUE IT COULD HAVE HAD EXTREME COST OF TOWING TO THE DEALER ( FORD). THEY ALERTED ME NO BUSHING REPLACEMENT, NO RECALL AND ONLY THEY REPLACE THE WHOLE SHIFTER CABLE 4.5 HOUR JOB $61.00 PART! HOW MANY OTHER SENIORS WERE TREATED THIS WAY OVER A $2.00 PART AND TEN TO 15 MINUTE INSTALL! I USED TO BE PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN! FORGIVE ME IF I WENT LONG! *TR

THE CONTACT CALLED BEACH FORD LOCATED AT 2717 VIRGINIA BEACH BLVD, VIRGINIA BEACH, VA 23452 (757)486-2718) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL. THE CONTACT ALSO CALLED THE CAVALIER FORD 1515 S MILITARY HWY, CHESAPEAKE, VA 23320, (757-424-6640) AND WAS PROVIDED SIMILAR INFORMATION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 127,500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CONNECT A TRAILER, THE WIRING HARNESSES FAILED TO SYNC. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO (GARY SMITH FORD INC 1 BEAL PKWY NW, FORT WALTON BEACH, FL 32548) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE WIRING HARNESSES WERE INCOMPATIBLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
THE VEHICLE ACTED LIKE IT WENT OUT OF GEAR, THE ENGINE REVVED, AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. TOW REQUIRED FOR REPAIR. (OUR 2018, WHICH HAS THE SAME TRANSMISSION, WAS IN THE SHOP HAVING THE TRANSMISSION REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE 2014 FAILURE!!! THERE IS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM WITH THIS TRANSMISSION AND A RECALL IS IN ORDER!) *TR
MY GIRLFRIEND WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 40 MPH AND NOTICED A WHINING NOISE THAT CORRESPONDED WITH THE ACCELERATION OF THE VEHICLE. WHEN SHE CAME TO THE NEXT STOP LIGHT AND THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN THE ESCAPE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, BUT THE WHINING WAS VERY LOUD AND WOULD ONLY MOVE ABOUT 3-4 MILES PER HOUR. SHE PULLED OVER, SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. WAITED AND STARTED AGAIN. THE ESCAPE DROVE FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THEN SHE FELT IT SLIP OUT OF GEAR AND THEN THE ENGINE WOULD JUST REV. IT SLIPPED BACK INTO GEAR AND IT STARTED TO ACCELERATE AS NORMAL BUT WITH THE CONSTANT WHINING SOUND. SHE HAD TO STOP AGAIN. SHE CALLED A MECHANIC WHO CAME AND LISTENED AND ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE IT AND HE SAID THE TRANSMISSION WAS SHOT WHICH WAS OBVIOUS AT THAT TIME. THERE WERE NO SERVICE MESSAGES ON THE DASH, NO LIGHTS CAME ON THE DASH TO INDICATE LOW FLUID LEVELS. WE HAVE SERVICED OUR VEHICLE REGULARLY FOLLOWING THE OWNERS MANUAL RECOMMENDATIONS. THE TRANSMISSION INFORMATION ONLY SAYS TO CHECK FLUID LEVELS AT EVERY OIL CHANGE AND CHANGE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AT 150,000 MILES ACCORDING TO THE DRIVING CONDITIONS. IT HAS 101,900 MILES AND WE STILL OWE ON OUR LOAN. WE PURCHASED IT FROM A FORD DEALER IN FEB. 2017. WITH ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS AND ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSIONS FAILING AT RANDOM FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL AND FIX THESE LEMONS!! *TR
WITHOUT ANY WARNINGS MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT, IT ONLY HAD 83,000 MILES ON IT. THE LOCAL DEALER SHIP CONFIRMED IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION, BUT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON MINE, PLEASE MAKE THIS RIGHT AND FIX THIS MAJOR ISSUE . I'VE BEEN A FORD OWNER FOR YEARS. *TR
Unrepaired door recall/door won’t open from inside
ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING: THE VEHICLE STARTED AND DRIVEN WITH AN INSUFFICIENT LEVEL OF COOLANT WITHIN THE ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM, THE ENGINE OVERHEATS AND WILL NOT DRIVE. I FILLED THE COOLANT 50/50 RESERVOIR AT LEAST 2X A WEEK, I JUST BOUGHT MY CAR FROM A DEALERSHIP ON 04/15/2020. *TR
WHEN AT A COMPLETE STOP, MY2014 FORD ESCAPE HESITANTS TO TAKE OFF, WHEN DRIVING OVER 45 MILES A HR, THE CAR SHAKES AND REDUCES SPEED ON ITS OWN. THIS IS VERY SCARY, AND I'M AFRAID THIS IS GONNA CAUSE A WRECK AND EVEN DEATH ,IF FORD DOESN'T RECALL THE 2014 FORD ESCAPES THAT ARE AFFECTED WITH THE SAME TRANSMISSION ISSUE AS THE OTHER ESCAPES, MY ESCAPE WAS BUILT IN ANOTHER FORD PLANT AND DIFFERENT PARTS, BUT IT'S THE SAME PROBLEM, THAT THE OTHER ESCAPES ARE HAVING . I HOPE FORD RECALLS THESE ESCAPES, I'VE BEEN A FORD OWNER SINCE 1993 , BUT THIS IS BUT THIS GOT ME RETHINKING MY FORD LOYALTY. THE LOCAL FORD DEALER QUOTED ME $5300 FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION BATS HALF OF WHAT THE CARS WORTH SO PLEASE MAKE THIS RIGHT THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR LISTENING
DUE TO FAULTY CRACKING COOLANT RESERVIORS THAT I HAVE REPLACED TWICE NOW, PART OF THE MOTOR HAS CRACKED AND NOT ONLY LEAKS OIL, BUT LEAKS COOLANT INTO MY ENGINE, WHERE THE ENGINE BURNS THE COOLANT. SO NOW MY MOTOR IS JUNK. I HAVE HAD NO RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE BUT MULTIPLE ISSUES THAT FALL UNDER RECALLS FOR OTHER VEHICLES. REASSESSMENTS NEED TO BE MADE. *TR
IN 2017 I TOOK MY CAR IN TO GET SEVERAL RECALL ITEMS FIXED AND I WAS TOLD THERE WAS A COOLANT ISSUE BUT IT'S OKAY TO DRIVE AND JUST MONITOR THE COOLANT. EARLIER THIS YEAR THE ENGINE LIGHT STARTED TURNING ON AND I WOULD GET A "LOW COOLANT" MESSAGE. DUE TO COVID I DID NOT TAKE THE CAR IN IMMEDIATELY. I ENDED UP HAVING TO FILL THE COOLANT THREE TIMES IN ONE MONTH EVENTUALLY LEADING TO WHITE FUMES COMING OUT THE EXHAUST. WHEN MY CAR FINALLY STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION DUE TO "LOW COOLANT" (WHICH WE HAD REFILLED 5 DAYS PRIOR) I FINALLY TOOK THE CAR INTO FORD AND THEY IMMEDIATELY KNEW WHAT THE ISSUE WAS AS I PULLED UP SAYING THEY COULD "SMELL IT." SAID I WAS NOT ALLOWED TO DRIVE IT HOME AND IT WAS MOST LIKELY NEEDING TO RESULT IN A NEW ENGINE. IT WAS A COOLANT LEAK THAT COULD RESULT IN THE ENGINE OVERHEATING AND BREAKING DOWN, WHICH WAS TOO DANGEROUS FOR ME TO DRIVE. THE SERVICE GUY SAID THIS WAS ABOUT THE 20TH VEHICLE HE HAD TO DEAL WITH THIS ISSUE ON BUT SAID THEY WEREN'T GOING TO COVER IT. SAID THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE BUT ONLY FOR 2014 ESCAPES MANUFACTURED AT TWO LOCATIONS. I ASKED WHY THOSE TWO WHEN THIS ISSUE SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING WITH SEVERAL VEHICLES AND HE HAD NO ANSWERS. LUCKILY I HAD A WARRANTY THAT COVERED THE NEW $8000 ENGINE BUT WE WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DEDUCTIBLE AND A MAJORITY OF THE RENTAL CAR. IT TOOK 8 WEEKS FOR THEM TO REPLACE THE ENGINE SO THE RENTAL WAS NOT CHEAP. *TR

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO B&B FORD LOCATED AT 10476 DUNBARTON BLVD, BARNWELL, SC 29812, (803) 259-5524) WHO STATED THAT THE ABS MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WOULD FORWARD THE PAPERWORK TO NHTSA REGARDING THE MATTER HOWEVER, THAT WAS NEVER CONFIRMED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HER SON WAS DRIVING AT 40 MPH, SEVERAL UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED VIA AN APP ON HIS CELLPHONE TO PULL OVER AND STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE OVERHEATED AND CAUSED THE ENGINE TO CRACK. THE TECHNICIAN ALSO STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GENE MESSER FORD (6000 WEST 19TH, LUBBOCK, TX 79407, (806) 788-2222) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN CONFIRMED THAT THE ENGINE BLOCK WAS CRACKED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE SAME DEALER REPURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000. *BF*JB
MY DOOR LATCH ON MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN BROKE FOR 2 MONTHS . I COULDN'T AFFORD TO FIX THEN BUT AS SOON AS I HEARD ABOUT THE RECALL I CALL FORD HERE IN MARLIN,TX.76661. THEY SAY BRING IN ON THIS DAY SO I DID AT 8AM . BEFORE 5 THAT SAME DAY I GO BACK AND THE GENTLEMAN SAID THEY DIDN'T GET TO FIX IT THERE AREN'T ANY PARTS FORD HAS SENT OUT THEY WOULD CALL ME IN A FEW DAYS. NEVER GOT A CALL BUT WHEN SOMEONE CALLS UP THERE AND STARTS ASKING ABOUT IT WHEN IT'S THERE SAFETY AT RISK AND IT'S THE ONLY VEHICLE THEY HAVE WHAT IS SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN. MY SEATBELT WON'T SAVE ME FOREVER AND THIS IS THE SECOND RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE . I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHEN THE ISSUE IS GOING TO BE PRIORITY FOR CONSUMERS LIKE ME. THE CONTACT STATED THAT DEALER INFORMED HER THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO A RECALL. THE VEHICLE SENSORS FAILED TO WARN OF LOW OR NO COOLANT LEVEL. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE RECALL WHICH THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN AND SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 155,000.
MY 2014 FORD IS LEAKING ENGINE COOLANT INTO MY ENGINE AS WELL AS OIL. WHICH IS CAUSING MY CAR TO DECREASE IN ACCELERATION AND HAS CAUSED MY CAR TO STALL ON CITY STREET. THE CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL HAS STOPPED WORKING ON MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE.THE VEHICLE FAILS TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD (FMVSS) NUMBER 101, "CONTROL AND DISPLAYS. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD AND WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL STARTED WITH VEHICLES MANUFACTURED BEGINNING MAY 2014 AND MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED FEB 2014 SO MY VIN WASN'T INCLUDED HOWEVER IM HAVING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEMS. I PAID $100 AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR A DIAGNOSTIC AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST $1000 TO REPLACE THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED MESSAGE ON DASHBOARD. IT WAS IN MOTION, STARTING A TURN INTO A PARKING SPOT
WHILE COASTING ON THE FREEWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 70MPH MY FORD ESCAPE STOPPED ACCELERATING. NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED, SIMPLY THE ACCELERATOR STOPPED FUNCTIONING. ALL FLUID WERE OKAY AND NO OVERHEATING CONDITION WAS PRESENT. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER, SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND AFTER A FEW MINUTES TURNED THE ENGINE BACK ON. I PRESSED ON THE ACCELERATOR AND THE CAR JERKED FORWARD. THE FORD SEEMED TO GO IN AND OUT OF GEAR. I ENDED UP TOWING THE VEHICLE HOME. I HAD THE TRANSMISSION SERVICED (NEW TRANSMISSION FLUID). FEW WEEKS LATER, SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN (REPLACED THROTTLE BODY) WITH NOT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR FAULT CODE EVER COMING ON. THE SECOND TIME THIS OCCURRED, I WAS ALMOST INVOLVED IN A COLLISION DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE. CAR DROVE AGAIN ON AND OFF. TOOK IT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP AND WAS ADVISED THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REBUILT. TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT AND THE FORD SEEMS TO BE DRIVING MUCH BETTER, SHIFTING IS STILL NOT SMOOTH.
My car has a bad failure of the head gasket. Coolant leaking into cylinder 3 and 2 and using up my coolant. This has been ongoing despite me having had the recalls done to it for the coolant system. This is a pervasive, prevalent and common issue with these Ecoboost engines. I have spoken with many people who have this same issue. It happens subtly and then gets much worse. Causing overheating and undue wear on the cylinder walls. For the first year of the problem beginning, there were no check engine lights associated with it. But it recently has started throwing cylinder 3 misfire codes as a result of this problem. This has been checked by a mechanic and the dealer refuses to repair or replace the head gasket or engine due to no recall for the head gasket being made, however there is at least one or two service bulletins put out by Ford about it. This is putting me and my family at risk of being stranded on the road somewhere, ancient failure at highway speeds and unreliable equipment to keep us safe.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.

MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE HAD A RECALL PERFORMED RECENTLY 17S09 COOLANT LEVEL SENSOR SYSTEM, BEFORE THIS RECALL WAS PERFORMED ON MY VEHICLE, MY VEHICLE WAS PERFECTLY FINE, I'VE ONLY HAD ISSUES WITH THE REAR DOOR LATCH, THAT WAS BROKEN ( ALSO A RECALL) AND FOR THIS REASON IS WHY MY VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT. IT WAS THEN, WHEN THE SERVICE TECH RECOMMENDED TO HAVE THE COOLANT LEVEL SENSOR SYSTEM REPLACED PER THE RECALL. SINCE THEN, MY VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN THE SAME, THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN BACK TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WITH THE SAME ONGOING COMPLAINT ,THE ENGINE LIGHT RECENTLY CAME UP ALERTING THAT MY VEHICLE WAS OVERHEATING, THOU THE VEHICLE WAS SITTING IN MY WORK PARKING LOT FOR 10 HRS. THIS IS THE FAULT OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR LACKING KNOWLEDGE ON HOW TO PROPERLY INSTALL THE RECALL COMPONENTS, FAILED TO MITIGATE FUTURE DAMAGE TO MY ENGINE. The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that initially, the coolant valve had become defective which resulted in her vehicle overheating as indicated by the temperature gauge. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where they replaced the coolant valve and coolant tank. Despite the repairs, the failure persisted and the vehicle was taken back to the mechanic where the diagnostic trouble code indicated that the coolant bypass was defective. The contact had the coolant bypass valve replaced and later discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V209000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) which she linked to the failure. Also, the contact stated that while her daughter was at a red light, the vehicle shut off without warning. The contact's husband was called to the scene and was able to restart the vehicle. Once home, the vehicle was towed to the same independent mechanic where the vehicle was diagnosed with a defective transmission. The transmission was replaced. Additionally, she also stated that her vehicle would fail to start up after filling the vehicle with fuel. After multiple attempts, the contact was able to restart the vehicle and drove the vehicle back to the independent mechanic where he diagnosed the vehicle with a defective fuel pump. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V005000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The contact then called both the dealer and the manufacturer and was informed that her vehicle was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 90,000. Consumer's daughter was sitting at the red light the car shut off, when she turned the car back on she was in drive but the car went into reverse. She almost hit the car behind her. She had to try and shift into drive but was only able to get it into neutral and move the car to the side so the other cars could get past. She had to remain with her foot on the brake because it would not shift into park. My husband had to come and help her. Vehicle was towed and transmission was replaced.

I HAD TO GET IT TOWED AND FORD SAYS IT IS THE TORQUE CONVERTER THAT CAUSED DAMAGE TO MY TRANSMISSION. I ASKED THEM ABOUT A SERVICE BULLETIN RELATED TO THE PART BUT THEY SAID THEY TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PART FAILING. I HAVE READ HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS RELATED TO THIS PART ON THE INTERNET. MY MAKE AND MODEL CAR IS LISTED AS A CLUNKER ONLINE DUE TO THIS ISSUE. MY DAUGHTER AND I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED IF MY CAR SLOWED DOWN ANY MORE GOING THOUGH THE INTERSECTION BECAUSE WE BARELY MADE IT BEFORE TRAFFIC CAME THROUGH. HAS HAPPENED TWICE NOW AND IT WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIXED AFTER THE FIRST TIME. MY VEHICLE HAS NO OPEN RECALLS AND IT HAS BEEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE IN THE PAST 2 WEEKS WITH REGARDS TO THE OVERHEAT ISSUE.

I PULLED OVER TO A GAS STATION TO GET GAS, LEFT THE GAS STATION AND WAS AT A STOP LIGHT. WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE AT THE STOP LIGHT MY RPM'S REVVED UP FOR A SECOND THEN DROPPED. WOULDNT ACCELERATE, NO RPM'S. GOT INTO ANOTHER GAS STATION PARKING LOT PUT TRANSMISSION FLUID IN THINKING THAT WAS THE ISSUE. AFTER PUTTING THAT IN AND THE CAR BEING OFF, I STARTED IT BACK UP AND PUT IT IN DRIVE. IT TOOK OFF LIKE THERE WAS NO ISSUES. GOT ACROSS THE STREET AND PULLED INTO ANOTHER PARKING LOT AND I LOSS MY RPM'S AGAIN AND NO ACCELERATION. HAD TO CALL A TOW CUZ AFTER THAT THE CAR WOULDNT GO ANYWHERE.
AT 69,000 THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT WORK ANY MORE. THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE IN GEAR. IT STARTED SLOWING DOWN WHILE DRIVING, UNTIL IT WOULDN'T MOVE ANY MORE.
