COOLANT LIGHT COMES ON THAN CAR SHUTS DOWN. NOT ABLE TO GO OR STEER
HAVING STEERING ISSUES. VEHICLE SHAKES WHEN DRIVING AND MAKES A SOUND LIKE SOME THG THING IS RUBBING. HAVE BEEN TOLD BY TWO MECHANICS THAT IT IS AN ISSUE WITH THE POWER STEERING RACK. HAVE CONTACTED SEVERAL FORD DEALERS AND HAVE BEEN TOLD IT HAS BEEN A COMMON PROBLEM IN THE PAST BUT FORD WILL NOT COVER IT. WIFE IS SCARED TO DRIVE IT.
WE HAD THE COOLANR RECALL DONE HOPING IT WOULD FIX THE LEAKING COLLANT ISSUE BUT THINGS JUST GOT WORSE I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR FOR MONTHS DEALER SAYS NEEDS NEW ENGINE
MY TIRE GOT A RAZOR BLADE IN IT WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I WAS UNABLE TO SWITCH TO MY SPARE AFTER PARKING IN MY PARKING STRUCTURE BECAUSE THE STANDARD LUG WRENCH INCLUDED DID NOT FIT OVER THE LUG NUTS. THE LUG NUTS WERE TOO BIG FOR THE LUG WRENCH PROVIDED BY FORD. I HAD TO DRIVE WITH A FLAT TIRE BECAUSE I WAS UNABLE TO CHANGE IT TO A SPARE. THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO GET TO A SAFE PLACE, BUT I AM CONCERNED FOR THE WELFARE OF THE PEOPLE WHO GET A FLAT TIRE ON A HIGHWAY OR AN UNSAFE AREA.
CAR KEPT STALLING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND THEN COMPLETELY STALLED OUT AFTER GOING 40MPH. NO INDICATION OF A TRANSMISSION ERROR. CHANGED TRANSMISSION FLUID AND STILL DOESN'T WANT TO DRIVE. SOMETIMES THE ACCELERATION ON THE VEHICLE IS TERRIBLE AND THE AC GIVES OUT AND I NEED TO CONSTANTLY TURN IT OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON TO WORK. HAVING TO TOW IT TO FORD BECAUSE IT'S NOT DRIVABLE AND SPEND ALL THIS MONEY ON A CAR I'M STILL PAYING FOR, GETTING RID OF IT AND NOT BUYING ANOTHER FORD EVER AGAIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH THE VEHICLE LOST POWER STEERING FUNCTIONALITY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A WARNING DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WHICH STATED, 'DO NOT DRIVE VEHICLE'. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE RESULT WAS AN INCONCLUSIVE REPORT FOR POWER STEERING LOSS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. NEITHER A DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
ON FEBRUARY 2, 2020 I WAS DRIVING HOME AND MY CAR SUDDENLY STALLED AND RELEASED AS I HIT THE ACCELERATOR & THEN IT WOULDN'T SPEED UP AT ALL, WHICH IS WHEN I REALIZED MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT FOR THE SECOND TIME IN 3 YEARS. I AM VERY METICULOUS WITH MY VEHICLES AND THIS NEVER SHOULD'VE HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME OR EVEN A SECOND TIME. I REACHED OUT TO FORD ABOUT IT, BUT THEY TOOK NO RESPONSIBILITY. THE FIRST TIME MY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT WAS AT ABOUT 79K MILES. THERE'S ABSOLUTELY NO WAY TO CONVENIENTLY CHECK THE TRANSMISSION OIL WITHOUT HAVING TO TAKE IT INTO A SHOP.
MY FORD ESCAPE'S BACKUP CAMERA HAS GONE TO JUST COLORED BUBBLES! I HAVE A HARD TIME BACKING UP BECAUSE I CANT SEE WHAT'S COMING AND FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
I HAVE A 2014 FORD ESCAPE 1.6L ECOBOOST.THAT IS NOT RUNNING&FORD WILL NOT FIX NOR ADMIT THAT THERE ARE OTHER VEHICLE LIKE MINE.BEFORE THE COOLING RECALL CAME ABOUT MY VEHICLE OVER HEATED 2X.I CALLED FORD&THEY TOLD ME THERE WOULD BE A CHARGE TO FIND& FIX THE PROBLEM.FEW MONTHS LATER I WAS NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL.I TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO HALL FORD IN ELIZABETH CITY NC.FIRST THEY SAID THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT NEEDED TO BE FIXED. THEN THE NEXT DAY THEY SAID THE PROBLEM HAD FIXED AFTER 24 HOURS OF HAVING THE VEHICLE. A YEAR LATER THEY RECALLED THE VEHICLE AGAIN FOR THE SAME THING&SAID THEY DID NOT FIX THE RIGHT THING. NOW AFTER 100,000 MILES THE VEHICLE SHIFTS OUT OF GEAR. FOR SAID THERE IS NO RECALL (BUT WITHOUT ACTUALLY LOOKING AT THE VEHICLE) THEY KNOW IT IS THE TRANSMISSION. THAT IT WILL COST $5,000 FOR A REMAN TRANSMISSION OR $7,000 FOR A NEW ONE. REMIND YOU THEY HAVE NOT LOOKED OVER THE VEHICLE AND THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE LABOR. THE VEHICLE POPS OUT OF GEAR AFTER NOT EVEN DRIVING IT FOR 5 MINUTES. IT IS THE 1.6LL 6 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. I ASKED IF THERE WERE OTHER VEHICLES DOING THE SAME THING AND THEY REPLIED NO I WAS THE FIRST THEY HEARD OF. I SAID WELL HOW DO YOU KNOW IT IS THE TRANS.THEY REPLIED BECAUSE WE KNOW OUR VEHICLES. I ASKED IF IT COULD BE FROM THE CAR OVERHEATING 2X BEFORE THEY FIXED THE COOLING ISSUE.THEY SAID NO BECAUSE THEY KNOW THERE VEHICLES.I HAVE GOT 3 DIFFERENT PRICE QUOTES OVER THE PAST 6 MONTHS. THE FIRST QUOTE $2500 REMAN PLUS LABOR THEN 2500 FOR JUST TRAN TO 4-5K FOR REMAN TRANS NOT INCLUDING LABOR.THEY THEN ASKED IF I WOULD LIKE TO TRADE IN MY VEHICLE FOR SOMETHING THAT WAS RELIABLE. I ANSWERED NO BECAUSE MY CAR WAS PAID FOR. I SAID NO ONE CAN DRIVE IT LIKE THIS. THEY SAID THATS WHY YOU SHOULD BUY A NEW CAR.I STARTED DOING RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT MULTIPLE PEOPLE (HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS)HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THERE VEHICLE AS ME.
SIDE WALL OF CYLINDER CRACKED DUE TO AN UNCHECKED RECALL CAUSING COOLANT TO LEAK INTO CYLINDER. DAMAGING THE ENGINE WARRANTING THE WHOLE ENGINE BE REPLACED AT A COST OF AROUND $7000. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO JUST OUT OF MILEAGE WARRANTY CAUSING THE OWNER TO PAY THE WHOLE BILL.
Transmission failed around 81,000 miles resulting in a costly repair. Luckily I was not on a busy highway at the time so I was not in imminent danger.
A LACK OF COOLANT CIRCULATION CAUSED THE ENGINE TO OVERHEAT, RESULTING IN A CRACKED CYLINDER HEAD. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION IN A CITY. VEHICLE IS IN THE SHOP AND I JUST BOUGHT IT 1 YEAR AGO. I STILL OWE AND DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO REPAIR. I HAVE 2 SMALL CHILDREN AND OUR LIFE IS IN TURMOIL BECAUSE OF THIS.
Car was in perfectly good condition around 75,000 miles. but the power steering gave out in the middle of driving on the highway. I first noticed it becoming a bit harder to turn the wheel but within an hour it became almost impossible to turn. Was charged $2,500 to fix since I was told it was an electrical problem. I did get a notification on the dashboard that there was a "power steering assist failure" or "steering fault."
THIS VEHICLE HAS A RECALL, I BOUGHT IT AND I WAS INNOCENT OF THIS UNTIL I ALMOST LOST MY LIFE OF FEAR WHEN THE CAR WENT ON IN SMOKE COMPLETELY, FORD I NEVER WANTED TO SEND THE APPOINTMENT FOR THE RECALL OF THE CAR THE CAR IS GETTING HOT AND VOTING AN ABUNDANT SMOKE AND YOU DON'T KEEP THE ENGINE OIL IT FEELS LIKE I BURN THE OIL I NEED A SOLUTION I MUST PAY THE MONEY TO THE DEALER AND I CAN'T DRIVE THE CAR TO WORK I NEED HELP PLEASE
ANTIFREEZE COOLANT CONTINUE TO BE LOW, CAR CENTER REPLACED A HOSE ON 1/20/20 FOR 200.00, THEN A WEEK LATER LOW COOLANT AGAIN THE CENTER ASSUME AIR POCKETS WAS THE REASON WITH NO COOLANT LEAKS 2/12/20. I KEPT REPLENISHING COOLANT, JUNE 3RD 2020 WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED, AND IT WAS REPLACE 6/10/20 FOR 4000.00. NOT EVEN ONE WEEK AFTER PICKING THE CAR UP THE LOW COOLANT WITH ENGINE LIGHT WITH ERROR CODES P0012 CAMSHAFT POSITION TIMING OVER-RETARDED BANK 1 AND P0303 CYLINDER 3 MISFIRE DETECTED. WHO IS GOING TO TAKE ON FIXING THIS CAR? I HAVE BEEN REPLACING PARTS AND REPLENISHING FLUIDS WITH NO RESOLUTION.
TIRE LOW AIR SENSOR WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY RESET WHEN PROPERLY INFLATED. THEREFORE, WHEN THE TIRES ARE ACTUALLY LOW, IT'S WEARING THE TIRES OUT & CAUSE THE CAR TO SKID ON WET ROADS.
THE COOLANT LIGHT COME ON BUT NOT RUNNING HOT I JUST BOUGHT THE 1\15\2020
TRANSMISSION WENT AT 80K MILES, EXTENDED WARRANTY DOESN'T COVER. NO WARNINGS ONLY WARNING I GOT WAS WHEN IT WAS TOOK LATE. NO WAY TO CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID AS IT IS A SEALED TRANSMISSION. IT'S GOING TO COST ME $6K TO GET IT FIXED.
DRIVING DOWN ROAD. CAR SAID ENGINE FAILURE PULLED OVER POPED THE HOOD AND ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE AND CAR BURNED TOTAL LOSS
POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING CAME ON AND LOST STEERING. IT HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING.
THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN AND HAD ONLY BEEN STARTED AND MOVING FOR LESS THAN 5 MINUTES. NOTICED THAT WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULD NOT SHUT OFF OR CHANGE SPEEDS, THEN NOTICED A SLIGHT ODOR IN CAR THAT INCREASINGLY STRENGTHENED. PHONED MY HUSBAND WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT, ODOR OF SOMETHING BURNING BECAME MUCH STRONGER, THEN NOTICED SMOKE COMING BETWEEN THE THE DRIVERS SIDE HOOD SEAM AND BETWEEN THE HOOD AND THE WINDSHIELD, THIS WAS IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWED BY NOTICABLE FLAME. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK, TURNED ON HAZARD LIGHTS AND EXITED THE VEHICLE. LOCAL POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED, BEGAN WITH SMALL FIRE EXTINGUISHERS, WITHOUT SUCCESS AND FIRE DEPARTMENT OPENED HOOD AND APPLIED WATER TO EXTINGUISH. THIS WAS ON A CITY STREET IN O'FALLON, MO. UNCERTAIN OF CAUSE, BUT AM NOW AWARE THAT FORD ISSUED A RECALL ON THIS MODEL (RECALL 17S09) AND BELIEVE THIS COULD BE A POSSIBILITY.

VEHICLE ENGINE STARTED TO REACH HIGH TEMPERATURE LEVELS WHILE DRIVING AND A NOTIFICATION TO STOP THE VEHICLE DUE TO HIGH TEMPERATURES. CAN ONLY DRIVE FOR 10-15 MINS BEFORE THIS HAPPENS. A PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND A RECALL CAME BACK FOR 2014 FORD ESCAPE - COOLANT LEVEL SENSOR SYSTEM INSTALLATION.IN THE AFFECTED VEHICLES, A LACK OF COOLANT CIRCULATION COULD CAUSE AN ENGINE TO OVERHEAT, RESULTING IN A CRACK IN THE CYLINDER HEAD. A CRACKED CYLINDER HEAD CAN RESULT IN A PRESSURIZED OIL LEAK. OIL THAT COMES INTO CONTACT WITH A HOT ENGINE SURFACE INCREASES THE RISK OF A FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.
THE AUTO CONTINUES TO STALL IN LOW IDLE
ON JANUARY 10, 2020 WHILE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH ON PUBLIC ROAD WITH SLIGHT DECLINE IN ROAD AT THAT POINT, THE SUV SPONTANEOUSLY DISENGAGED FROM GEAR. WHEN ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS PRESSED, THE ENGINE WOULD REV AT HIGH RATE OF SPEED BUT VEHICLE ACTED AS THOUGH IN NEUTRAL. THE DRIVER COASTED TO SIDE OF ROAD, SHUT OFF ENGINE FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES, RE-STARTED, PUT INTO GEAR, AT WHICH TIME THE SUV WOULD LURCH FORWARD ABOUT 15 FEET AND THEN DISENGAGE AGAIN. PROCEEDED DOWN THE ROAD THIS WAY UNTIL SUV COULD NOT ADVANCE AT ALL, NOW AT UPHILL. IT WAS TOWED TO CLOSEST REPAIR GARAGE WHERE DIAGNOSIS WAS COMPLETE TRANSMISSION FAILURE. PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT, THE VEHICLE HAD EXHIBITED NO SIGNS WHATSOEVER OF TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, NO DIFFICULTIES SHIFTING INTO GEARS, NO HESITATION OF AUTOMATIC SHIFTING BETWEEN GEARS. IT HAS BEEN PROPERLY MAINTAINED. MILEAGE AT TIME OF EVENT WAS APPROXIMATELY 79465 MILES.
MY WIFE'S 2014 ESCAPE WORKED FINE IN THE MORNING FOR HER TO RUN AND DO AN ERRAND. WHEN SHE WENT TO START THE CAR IT FAILED TO START AND I WAS ABLE TO JUMP IT AND GET IT TO A LOCAL AUTO ZONE FOR A BATTERY REPLACEMENT. WHEN I WAS PULLING INTO AUTO ZONE I NOTICED A SMALL CATCH WHILE TURNING LEFT AND LOST POWER STEERING FOR A FEW SECONDS. I MADE NOTE OF IT MENTALLY BUT JUST FOCUSED ON GETTING THE BATTERY REPLACED AS THAT SEEMED TO BE THE UNDERLYING ISSUE. NOW THE BATTERY HAS BEEN REPLACED AND I GO TO LEAVE AND I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO POWER STEERING WITH A WARNING STATING "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" SERVICE REQUIRED. I MUSCLED HER CAR HOME TO RECHECK MY WORK AND ITS ALL GOOD. A DAY LATER AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE I THROW A HAIL MARY AND DISCONNECT THE BATTERY FOR ABOUT A MINUTE AND THEN RECONNECTED IT AND BINGO I HAVE STEERING. MY WIFE LATER LEFT FOR SHOPPING AND HAD ZERO ISSUES UNTIL HER ATTEMPT TO LEAVE. SHE IMMEDIATELY GOT THE ERROR MESSAGE AND HAD INTERMITTENT POWER STEERING ON HER DRIVE HOME BUT WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT WITH THE USE OF BRUTE FORCE. I HAD THE TRANSMISSION AND RECALL ADDRESSED ABOUT TWO TO THREE MONTHS AGO AND THIS CAR HAS BEEN A PAIN SINCE THEN WITH NEEDING A JUMP IN COLD WEATHER. NOW THIS AND THE OUTLOOK OF A 2,000 REPAIR WHEN IT TOOK A DEALERSHIP 2 MONTHS TO DO A RECALL AND REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION THAT WAS MAGICALLY "FRIED" I'M HESITANT TO TRUST ANYTHING FORD SAYS BUT THIS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE THAT HAS DOCUMENTED HISTORY AND NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. NOW I NEED TO FIND OUT WHY ITS IN AND OUT AND WHAT TO DO MOVING FORWARD. #FORDSERVICESUCKS
REAR DRIVER DOOR OPNE WHILE DRIVING!
MY CAR HAD A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON WHEN I TURNED IT ON ONE DAY. IT WAS ON THE WEEKEND SO I HAD TO WAIT UNTIL MONDAY TO GET DIAGNOSTICS AT MY LOCAL DEALER. THE CAR STARTED TO RUN REALLY ROUGH AND WAS SLIPPING. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT MY HEAD GASKET WAS BLOWN AND LEAKING ANTIFREEZE EVERYWHERE. I AM CURRENTLY AWAITING TO SEE IF THE HEAD IS CRACKED TO WHICH I'M TOLD IS COMMON WITH THIS ISSUE AND THIS CAR. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS IN THE SAME YEAR MY CAR WAS MADE, HOWEVER, MY CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED INTO THIS RECALL IN IS NOW MY RESPONSIBILITY FINANCIALLY TO FIX THIS.
MY BATTERY DIED. IT WAS JUMPED AND WORKING, BUT THE CAR WAS NOT DRIVABLE BECAUSE THE 'HOT ENGINE' MESSAGE WAS ON. IT WAS TOWED TO FIRESTONE. THEY PUT A NEW BATTERY IN, BUT THE 'HOT ENGINE ' LIGHT WAS STILL ON. I FOUND A RECALL ABOUT THE COOLANT SYSTEM ON THE INTERNET. 17S09. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO HUNTERSVILLE FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY HAVE HAD IT FOR 24 HOURS AND HAVE NOT CALLED OR RETURNED MY CALLS.
MY VEHICLE KEEPS RUNNING THE BATTERY DOWN WHEN I HAVE THE DOORS OPEN FOR JUST A FEW MINUTES, WHEN I CUT IT OFF I CAN STILL HEAR A MOTOR OF SOME SORT RUNNING AND I HAVE TO RESTART THE CAR A COUPLE TIMES BEFORE THIS MOTOR OR WHATEVER IT IS STOPS, AFTER TAKING TO AUTOZONE HAVE BATTERY REPLACED, I WAS TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH MY BATTERY AND IT WAS SOME SORT OF ELECTRICAL PROBLEM AND WOULD MOST LIKELY BE A RECALL. I DID CHECK FOR RECALLS AND IT SHOWS NONE AT THIS TIME
MY COOLANT LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND I AM HAVING TO PUT COOLANT CONTINUALLY AND THAN THE LIGHT WILL GO OFF. ON MY WAY HOME ON FEB 2 I WAS PUTTING GAS AT THAT THE GAS STATION AND THE COOLANT LEAKED ALL OVER THE PLACE. I HAD TO FILL UP THE COOLANT ONCE AGAIN. I WENT TO THE FORD PLACE AND THEY STATE THAT IT IS A HEATER HOSE ISSUE ESTIMATED COST IS $430.00. I NOTICED THAT MY CAR IS RUNNING ROUGH. AFTER READING THE COMPLAINTS OF A 2014 FORD ESCAPE ON THE COOLANT ISSUE. JUST WANDERING IF THIS IS A PROBLEM. BUT IT HAD HAPPEN FOR SOME TIME HAVING TO PUT COOLANT IN DUE TO THE LIGHT COMING ON. IT ALL STARTED A MONTH BEFORE THAT.
ON 12/31/19 WHILE DRIVING ON PCH THE THE WOULD NOT ACCELEBRATE IT'S LIKE IT IN NEUTRAL VERY DANGEROUS! HAD TO PULL OVER AND GET A TOW HOME. DOESN'T SHIFT GEARS RIGHT. 2018 IT WAS JERKING FIX THE TRANSMISSION NOW THIS. ONLY 71000 MILES ON IT. !
EXTERIOR PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HANDLE FELL OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. IT FELL OFF WHILE OPENING THE DOOR
THE ENGINE SUDDENLY DOWN DIES WHILE DRIVING SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST FEW MONTHS.
I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET. I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND COULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 33 MPH WITH THE SPEED LIMIT BEING 45 MPH. I IMMEDIATELY BECAME CONCERNED FOR MY SAFTEY AND PULLED OFF ON A SIDE STREET STILL GOING 33 MPH AND NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE ANY FASTER. ONCE STOPPED, I HAD A DASHBOARD MESSAGE APPEAR SAYING "TRANSMISSION FAULT". IT WOULD NOT GO INTO MOTION AT THIS POINT AFTER PULLING OVER TO STOP. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, WHERE I WAS ADVISED BY MY SERVICE ADVISOR THAT THE FLUID WAS BROKEN DOWN PER THEIR TRANSMISSION TECHNICIAN AND THAT THERE ARE METAL SHAVINGS IN THE SYSTEM. HE TOLD ME I SHOULD HAVE CHANGED FLUID EVERY 30K MILES. THE COMPLAINT I HAVE AGAINST FORD IS THAT MY DRIVERS MANUAL STATES TO REPLACE TRANSMISSION FLUID AT 150K MILES. I AM NOW FACED WITH HIGH REPAIR COST THAT DOES NOT LINE UP WITH FORD'S RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE. FOLLOWING THE SERVICE MANUAL GOT ME A HIGH COST REPAIR AND FORD IS NOT STANDING BY THEIR PRODUCT. ADDITIONALLY, THIS COULD HAVE PUT ME IN A MORE DANGEROUS SITUATION IF I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY SINCE I LIVE IN A MAJOR METRO AREA OF THE COUNTRY. IF THERE IS A FAULTY TRANSMISSION GOING BAD BEFORE THEIR SERVICE SCHEDULE, THEY SHOULD RECALL THEM FOR THE CUSTOMER'S SAFETY.
OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS MY CAR HAS STARTED TO LOOSE POWER AND CUT OFF RANDOMLY. I WAS OUT ON DECEMBER 26, 2019 AND MY VEHICLE CUT OFF 4 TIMES. LUCKILY I WAS NOT IN HEAVY TRAFFIC SO I DID NOT GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE TO RESTART THE CAR EACH TIME. WHEN I CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY ON DECEMBER 23, 2019 TO REPORT WHAT WAS HAPPENING, I WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $125 FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TO BE RAN ON THE VEHICLE AND WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR APPLICABLE REPAIRS DUE TO THEIR BEING NO OPEN RECALLS REGARDING GAS PRESSURE. THIS ALONE MAKES THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY.
WHILE IN MOTION, ON EITHER A CITY STREET OR ON A FREEWAY. FROM EITHER IN A SLOW STOP AND GO ACCELERATION WHILE IN CITY TRAFFIC THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS AND THEN CATCHES IN A JERKING A EFFECT CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO PAUSE AND THEN CATCH. THIS IS ALSO WILL HAPPEN ON THE FREEWAY IN THE EVENT OF A QUICK ACCELERATION TO AVOID CHANGE IN THE TRAFFIC OR SOMETHING IN THE ROAD.
MY WIFE WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLOW SUDDENLY. THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO "WHINE" AND WOULD NOT SHIFT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE DEALER CLAIMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEED TO BE REPLACED BUT GAVE NO REASON FOR THE FAILURE. THE MILEAGE WAS 84,074. I THEN HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST. A THOROUGH INSPECTION REVEALED THAT THE CONVERTER HAD FAILED AND BLEW FLUID BACK THROUGH THE REST OF THE TRANSMISSION. A FULL TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT WAS STILL REQUIRED. THE TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS TOO SMALL FOR THE VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD HUMMING NOISE WHILE DRIVING. THE BATTERY LIGHT AND THE OIL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED, WHILE STOPPED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE THEN OPERATED AS INTENDED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY WESTWAY FORD LOCATED AT 801 W AIRPORT FWY, IRVING, TX 75062, (972) 584-9033 THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED BY A RECALL. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS CONSULTED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000
THE MIDDLE REAR SEAT BELT LATCH DROPPED BELOW THE FOLD DOWN SEAT WHEN IT WAS FOLDED DOWN. THIS MADE FASTENING THE SEAT BELT IMPOSSIBLE. THE LATCH IS INACCESSIBLE. CANNOT BRING IT BACK UP WITHOUT COMPLETELY REMOVING THE SEAT.
ENGINE COOLANT KEEPS EVAPORATING/LEAKING OUT
MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE BROKE DOWN THE FIRST TIME BEFORE CHRISTMAS 2019 AT 100,048 MILES. THE WARNING LIGHT WAS STATING THE VEHICLE WAS OVERHEATING. FORTUNATELY, I WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED AS MY VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE. I ASSUMED THIS WAS RELATED TO THE RECALL FOR THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR THAN I HAD REPLACED PRIOR. I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT AND DROVE IT FOR 3 MORE DAYS. I HAD DRIVEN IT ABOUT TEN MILES FROM HOME THE MORNING IT BROKE DOWN AGAIN. THE CAR GAVE NO WARNING SIGNALS OR LIGHTS. I WAS IN A 65MPH ZONE ON THE INTERSTATE AND THE VEHICLE HAD POWER TO THE ENGINE BUT NO ACCELERATION. THE RPM'S WOULD REV TO 4000 BUT NOT ACCELERATE. I QUICKLY WAS DOWN TO LESS THAN 10MPH TRYING TO MAKE IT UP A SMALL INCLINE. I MANAGED TO GET TO THE SHOULDER BEFORE I WAS REAR ENDED. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED AND I WAS TOLD THIS WAS A FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR. I THEN PAID $350.00 TO HAVE THIS REPLACED. I PICKED UP MY VEHICLE ONLY TO DRIVE IT LESS THAN A MILE FROM THE DEALERSHIP FOR IT TO BREAK DOWN ONCE AGAIN. I WAS THEN TOLD MY TRANSMISSION HAD COMPLETELY FAILED AND IT WOULD NEED TO BE TOTALLY REPLACED FOR $5,000. THIS IS A COMPLETE SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO THE FACT IT HAPPENS AT HIGH SPEEDS, NO WARNING LIGHTS, AND NOT HAVING ENOUGH ACCELERATION TO BARELY MAKE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.
COOLANT DISAPPEARING
MY CAR IS SPORADICALLY SPEWING ANTI-FREEZE FROM THE OVERFLOW TANK. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO 3 LOCAL MECHANICS AND 1 FORD DEALERSHIP AND NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO FIND A REASON FOR THIS. I HAVE NOTICED THIS OCCURS IF I AM DRIVING AROUND FOR A LONG TIME WITH THE A/C OFF. THE LEAKING IS COMING FROM MY COOLANT OVERFLOW TANK'S AIR VENTILATION. ANTI-FREEZE DOES NOT LEAK OUT WHILST DRIVING THE VEHICLE, BUT ONLY WHEN I PARK AND SHUT IT OFF. THE MECHANICS HAVE DONE SEVERAL PRESSURE TESTS WHICH ALL CAME BACK NORMAL. DECEMBER 2019 MY COOLANT LIGHT CAME ON FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE OWNING THE CAR FOR 2 YEARS AND I WAS NEEDING TO PUT A SMALL AMOUNT OF ANTI-FREEZE IN EVERY MONTH. SINCE JULY 2020 IT HAS BEEN OVERFLOWING AND LEAKING EVERY WEEK IT SEEMS. I WOULD AVERAGE I GO THROUGH 2-3 CUPS OF ANTI-FREEZE EVERY 1-2 WEEKS. WHEN PARKING AND TURNING OFF THE CAR THE OVERFLOW TANK HAS ANTI-FREEZE FILLED TO THE TOP, BUT NOT QUITE COMING OUT OF THE CAP. I AM ATTACHING SOME IMAGES OF MY OVERFLOW TANK.
AFTER PULLING ONTO THE HIGHWAY, I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE MY AUTOMATIC 2014 FORD ESCAPE. MY ENGINE REVVED, BUT I HAD NO ACCELERATION. IT SOUNDED AS IF I WAS IN NEUTRAL. I TRIED TO SHIFT GEARS, BUT THE ISSUE PERSISTED AS MY CAR NEARLY CAME TO A HALT ON THE BUSY HIGHWAY. I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO THE RIGHT LANE EVEN THOUGH IT PUT ME IN FRONT OF AN ONRAMP AND GUARD RAIL. I WAS BEGINNING TO LOSE ANY FORWARD MOMENTUM TO THE POINT THAT MY CAR WAS SLIPPING BACKWARD. I PUSHED THE BRAKE. I WAS ABLE TO QUICKLY TURN OFF MY CAR, TURN IT BACK ON, AND ACCELERATE A FEW FEET BEFORE I LOST ACCELERATION AGAIN. I DID THIS 3 TIMES BEFORE BEING ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY PAST THE ONRAMP AND GUARDRAIL. I WAS ABOUT 15 MINUTES FROM MEETING UP WITH MY HUSBAND AND TWO YOUNG GIRLS TO TRAVEL FURTHER ONTO A BUSY HIGHWAY TOWARD FRIDAY AFTERNOON BOSTON TRAFFIC. I FEEL FORTUNATE THAT THE TIMING WAS WHAT IT WAS, BUT UNFORTUNATELY, THE ISSUE WAS MY TRANSMISSION FAILED AT ONLY 92,000 ON A VEHICLE FROM 2014. I JUST HAD THE VEHICLE IN THE MECHANIC SHOP ON THE TUESDAY PRIOR TO THIS FRIDAY EVENT, AND WAS TOLD THERE SHOULD BE NO ISSUES TAKING IT ON THE HIGHWAY FOR A TRIP WITH THE FAMILY. MY VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE LOCAL VIP FOR AN ASSESSMENT. WE WERE TOLD IT WAS LIKELY THE TRANSMISSION, WHICH THEY SAID WAS A "KNOWN ISSUE" IN THIS MAKE AND MODEL. FUMING AT THE THOUGHT OF THIS BEING A "KNOWN ISSUE" AND UNDERSTANDING THE IMPLICATIONS OF THIS COST, I DID A QUICK SEARCH. SURE ENOUGH, THERE ARE MYRIAD PEOPLE THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS AT 40,000, 70,000 AND 90,000 MILES ON THIS SAME MAKE AND MODEL. WE HAD IT TOWED TO OUR LOCAL MECHANIC WHO ASSESSED IT INDEPENDENTLY OF VIP AND SHARED AGAIN THAT THIS IS A "KNOWN ISSUE" WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. I HAVE TO WONDER WHY THIS "KNOWN DANGEROUS ISSUE" HAS NOT PROMPTED A RECALL. HAPPY TO PROVIDE MY BILL FOR THE REPAIR, WHICH WILL TAKE PLACE 12/30. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT, THE TRANSMISSION DID NOT SHIFT INTO PARK, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO ROLL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFT WAS IN PARK AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND WAS TOWED TO ROMANO FORD (315-637-4491, LOCATED AT 5431 N BURDICK ST, FAYETTEVILLE, NY 13066) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL AND NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 74,000.
2014 FORD ESCAPE-79K MILES- WHILE DRIVING THE CAR WOULDN'T GIVE POWER AND HESITATED WHEN TRYING TO TAKE OFF. ALSO PUTTERED AND EVENTUALLY DIDN'T WANT TO DRIVE AT ALL. I HAD TO SHUT OFF THE CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND RESTART IT TO GET IT TO MOVE AND EVENTUALLY MADE IT HOME DOING THIS SEVERAL TIMES. THANKFULLY I WAS NOT ON THE HIGHWAY AS IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A COMPLETE DISASTER. TOOK THE CAR TO MY MECHANIC THE NEXT MORNING, MECHANIC INFORMED ME THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL WAS FULL BUT TRANSMISSION HAD FAILED. SAID THIS IS RARE FOR A FAIRLY UNUSED CAR WITH LOW MILES BUT COMMON PROBLEM IN FORD ESCAPES. I LEFT THE MECHANIC IN TEARS WITH A $125.00 FEE AND A $3,500 QUOTE TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. WORKING ON THOSE FUNDS NOW TO REPAIR THE CAR, WHICH IS NOT YET PAID OFF. IF IT WAS I WOULD TRADE IT IN AND NEVER GET ANOTHER FORD AGAIN. INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING. I'VE HAD A HONDA ACCORD WITH 200K+ MILES AND THIS NEVER HAPPENED. ALONG WITH MY TOYOTA HIGHLANDER. FORD NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING AND RECALL THIS ISSUE ALONG WITH REIMBURSEMENTS BECAUSE THIS IS INSANE.
I TOOK MY CAR TO A FORD DEALSHIP TO FOR A RECALL. THE RECALL WAS 17S09, A COOLANT LEVEL SENSOR INSTALLATION. WHEN I PICKED MY VEHICLE UP AND DROVE IT HOME, THE NEXT DAY MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, SO I BROUGHT IT BACK. THEY THEN REPLACED A LEAKING COOLANT LINE TO DEGAS BOTTLE. A FEW DAYS LATER I TURNED ON MY VEHICLE TO GO SOMEWHERE AND BEFORE EVEN LEAVING MY BLOCK, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND INSTANTLY STARTED OVER HEATING. I WAS LUCKILY DOWN THE STREET FROM MY HOME SO I MANAGED TO GET IT BACK TO MY HOUSE, BUT I WAS AFRAID TO DRIVE IT SO I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A THIRD TIME. THEY DIDN'T MAKE ANY NOTES ON THAT VISIT SO I'M NOT SURE WHAT HAPPENED BUT WHEN I PICKED IT UP THEY STATED I NEEDED TO PAY FOR SERVICES BECAUSE THEY NOTICED A LEAK IN MY HEATER HOSE AND THE SERVICE WAS GOING TO COST OVER $3000! MY CAR WAS PERFECTLY FINE BEFORE TAKING IT IN FOR A RECALL. I WISH I WOULD HAVE NEVER BROUGHT IT IN BECAUSE WHEN I TRIED TO MAKE A COMPLAINT ABOUT HOW MY CAR WAS SERVICED AND WHAT THEY DID TO IT, I HAD NO LUCK GETTING ANY HELP OR ASSISTANCE BUT I KNOW THE RECALL PUT MY CAR IN A WORSER CONDITION. MY VEHICLE HAD NEVER OVER HEATED BEFORE AND A FEW DAYS AFTER GETTING THIS RECALL IT OVER HEATED AS SOON AS I TURNED IT ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING AND PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, BUT IT SHUT OFF AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CROSSROADS FORD OF PRINCE GEORGE (4500 WHITEHILL BLVD, PRINCE GEORGE, VA 23875, (877) 331-9405). THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO USE ROLLING STOPS TO AVOID THE VEHICLE SHUTTING OFF. THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF IN THE DEALER'S PARKING LOT. THE DEALER REPLACED THE OXYGEN SENSORS AFTER PERFORMING A SMALL TEST DRIVE. IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE REMAINED AT THE DEALER FOR ALMOST TWO WEEKS. THE TOTAL COST FOR THE REPAIRS WAS OVER $4,200. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER AWAITING REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
WASTEGATE SOLENOID NEEDS REPLACED, WE HAVE REPLACED SO MANY PARTS ON THIS VEHICLE AND HAD TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED AS WELL. WE SHOULD NOT HAVE THIS MANY PROBLEMS WITH A VEHICLE THAT'S ONLY 5 YEARS OLD. WE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER CABLE AFTER IT LEFT OUR VEHICLE COMPLETELY DISABLED IN A TOWN AN HOUR AWAY FROM OUR HOME. WE'VE ALSO REPLACED THE COOLANT BYPASS SOLENOID. THESE ARE ALL KNOWN ISSUES AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED BY A RECALL BUT OUR VEHICLE, EVEN THOUGH IT MATCHES THE RECALL SPECS EXACTLY, OUR VIN # WAS NOT LISTED ON THE SHOPS OASIS SHEET SO WE'VE PAID FOR ALL OF THIS OUT OF OUR OWN POCKET. FORD NEEDS TO DO THE RIGHT THING AND REIMBURSE EVERYONE THAT HAS HAD TO DEAL WITH THESE ISSUES AND PAY OUT OF THEIR OWN POCKET FOR A KNOWN ISSUE THAT HAVE BEEN RECALLED ON SEVERAL OF THEIR VEHICLES ALREADY. THE RECALLS OBVIOUSLY NEED TO BE EXPANDED TO REFLECT THE TRUE NUMBERS.
