TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHITE SMOKE WOULD EMIT FROM THE ENGINE UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT HE HAD NOTICED THAT BOTH OIL AND COOLANT HAD LEAKED FROM HIS VEHICLE AS THE LOW COOLANT WARNING MESSAGE HAD ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAS TO CONSTANTLY ADD COOLANT TO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT SPOKEN TO A DEALER IN REGARDS TO HIS FAILURE. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT LINKED HIS FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); HOWEVER, HIS VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA, THEY OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILLAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING ROUTINE SERVICE AT SANDERSON FORD (6400 N 51ST AVE, GLENDALE, AZ 85301, (800) 729-3501), THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT ALL 20 LUG NUTS WERE DETACHED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE WARRANTY FAILED TO COVER THE REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000.
THE DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR LATCH BROKE, WHICH WOULD NOT ALLOW THE DOOR TO CLOSE, POSING A SAFETY HAZARD TO THE OCCUPANTS INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND AS I LOADED A BAG IN THE BACKSEAT AND CLOSED THE DOOR TO LEAVE ONE DAY, IT DID NOT CLOSE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, WHEN HE NOTICED THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE INCREASE. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED HE HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE FROM THE ENGINE AND SAW SMOKE EXITING FROM THE HOOD. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND LET THE ENGINE COOL FOR 15 MINUTES BEFORE CONTINUING DRIVING, BUT AFTER 20 MINUTES THE FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LOCAL DEALER BOZEMAN FORD LINCOLN LOCATED AT 2900 N 19TH AVE, BOZEMAN, MT 59718, (406) 587-1221, WHERE HE WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THE DEALER SET UP AN APPOINTMENT FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) REPAIRS WITH IN A WEEK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AS OF YET. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000.
I GOT IN MY CAR TO GO TO WORK AFTER IT HAD BEEN PARKED ALL NIGHT. I TURNED IT ON AND I INSTANTLY GOT THE MESSAGE "STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED" I COULDN'T TURN THE WHEEL. I SHUT IT OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND THE MESSAGE WAS GONE. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO WORK HOWEVER I AM SCARED SOMETHING IS GOING TO GO OUT WHILE IM DRIVING!
CAR STALLING, CUTTING OUT, MISSING A GEAR AND SHIFTING VERY HARD, WHILE DRIVING. THIS WENT ON FOR A WHILE BEFORE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ONE. DEALERSHIP HAD TO REPLACE COOLANT BYPASS SOLENOID, SAID IT WAS RECALLED ON VEHICLES LIKE MINE BUT MY VIN DIDN'T SHOW A RECALL EVEN THOUGH THE ENGINE, YEAR, MAKE, MODEL, BUILD DATE, BUILD LOCATION WERE ALL IDENTICAL TO THE RECALL. VEHICLE STILL SHIFTED VERY HARD, LIKE IT WAS MISSING A GEAR, ADVISED BY DEALERSHIP TO HAVE TRANSMISSION REBUILT. SPENT JUST UNDER $4,000 TO HAVE BOTH REPAIRS DONE. HAD REPAIR COMPLETED IN AUGUST 2019 AFTER DEALING WITH THE ISSUES FOR NEARLY A YEAR AND BEING TOLD THAT WAS JUST THE WAY THE CAR DROVE BECAUSE OF THE TURBO CHARGED ENGINE. NO CODES EVER POPULATED SO WAS TOLD EVERYTHING WAS AS IT SHOULD BE. ONLY WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, WOULD THEY EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE AND EVEN THEN TRIED TO SAY IT WAS JUST THE SOLENOID AS NO CODES WERE COMING UP FOR THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE THAT HAD BEEN GOING ON FOR YEARS! I'VE BEEN TOLD FORD KNOWS ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION ISSUE AND HAS THE CODE CLEARED OUT WITH THEIR SOFTWARE SO IT NEVER SHOWS WHEN TAKEN IN FOR SERVICE. NOT SURE IF THAT'S TRUE OR NOT BUT STILL FRUSTRATING TO HAVE SO MANY ISSUES WITH A CAR THAT'S NOT THAT OLD.
ON 1/17/18 MILEAGE 47120 I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO OUR LOCAL FORD DEALER AND THEY REPAIRED THE VEHICLE UNDER WARRANTY DUE TO RECALL 17S09. HOWEVER, ON 8/5/2019 MILEAGE 62,500 THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING ROUGH AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. LONG STORY SHORT, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ANOTHER FORD DEALER WHERE THEY DETERMINED THE VEHICLE HAD A CRACKED CYLINDER, THE EXACT SAME CONDITION THAT 17S09 WAS SUPPOSED TO FIX. WHILE I DID NOT SUFFER A SAFETY INCIDENT IN THIS CASE, MY CONCERN IS THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED CORRECTLY UNDER THE ORIGINAL RECALL, AND THUS THERE MAY STILL BE A SAFETY ISSUE THAT MAY AFFECT OTHERS.
CAR HAS ONLY 30,000 MILES. DRIVER SEAT BELT DOES NOT MAINTAIN PROPER RECOIL TENSION. I HAVE TO HAND FEED BELT BACK INTO INCLOSEURE. I HAVE CLEANED THE BELT MULTIPLE TIMES WITH NO NOTICEABLE IMPROVEMENT.

THERE WAS ALSO A RECALL ON FUEL SYSTEM .MY CAR COINCIDENTALLY HAS THE SAME PROBLEM.AS I'M DRIVING IT JUST STALLS AND I HAVE TO RESTART IT AS I'M DRIVING. .AND FORD WILL NOT HELP. IT IS A SAFTY ISSUE .AND ALMOST CAUSED FATALITIES.
REAR DRIVER DOOR LATCH WILL NOT LATCH CAUSING THE DOOR TO FLY OPEN WHEN DRIVING.
MY CAR WAS OVERHEATING SO I TOOK IT INTO THE SHOP AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE THERMOSTAT SO I REPLACED THE THERMOSTAT AND IT'S STILL KEPT OVERHEATING SO I TOOK IT BACK IN THEY RAN A TEST IN THE HEADS WERE BLOWN SO THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE HEADS WELL FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH MY YEAR OF VEHICLE AND THE FORD ESCAPES BECAUSE THERE WAS ANOTHER FORD ESCAPE WITH THE SAME ISSUE AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE HEADS ON IT I FEEL LIKE IT SHOULD BE RECALLED BECAUSE IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND I THINK FORD IS AWARE OF IT I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO REPLACE A HEAD ON MY VEHICLE IT'S A 2014 IT SHOULDN'T EVEN NEED THE HEADS REPLACED IT LOOK LIKE IT BELONGS TO
WHILE IN MOTION I LOST ALL FORWARD GEARS IN THE TRANSMISSION RESULTING IN ME NOT BEING ABLE TO MOVE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC.
ATTEMPTED TO START MY VEHICLE AND PUSHED IGNITION BUTTON. ALL OF MY PANEL LIGHTS AND MONITOR STARTED GLITCHING AND FLASHING AND THEN EVERYTHING WENT BLACK. THE ENGINE DID NOT START. THERE WAS A RECALL BUT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT PART OF RECALL. I HAVE OWNED VEHICLE FOR 2 YEARS. I HAVE HAD A DRIVERS DOOR LOCK CYLINDER FALL OUT. I HAVE RUST IN SEVERAL LOCATIONS, INCLUDING HATCH AND PASSENGER INTERIOR SIDE OF DOOR.
MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE DROVE FINE UNTIL MY HUSBAND DROVE IT TO WORK AND WAS TRYING TO BACK INTO A PARKING SPOT. THE CAR WOULDN'T GO INTO REVERSE. LATER THAT NIGHT WHEN HE LEFT WORK THE CAR STARTED SHIFTING ROUGH SO HAD THE CAR TOWED TO PREVENT MORE DAMAGE. WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION AT 116,000 MILES. SO I HAVE BEEN WORKING WITH FORD TO SEE IF THEY WILL PAY ALL OR AT LEAST HALF. NOW 17 MONTHS LATER I HAVE JUST GIVEN UP ON THE RUN AROUND WITH THE HOME OFFICE FOR SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL FOR BAD PARTS AND JUST PAYING FOR THE FIX. EITHER REPLACEMENT TOWARD PLANETARY DISK WITH SOLENOID DAMAGE. OR NEW TRANSMISSION.

PRIME FORD SACO (LOCATED AT 857 PORTLAND RD, SACO, ME 04072, (207) 282-0300) WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.
VEHICLE NEEDS "NEW ENGINE" AS DIAGNOSED BY TAPPER FORD DEALERSHIP, PAW PAW MI. WAS TOLD THE "BLOCK" WAS BAD AFTER "COOLANT LEAKED INTO ENGINE" FROM HEAD GASKET CRACKED. THIS VEHICLE HAS A RECALL STATING "LOCALIZED OVERHEATING OF THE ENGINE CYLINDER HEAD MAY CAUSE THE CYLINDER HEAD TO CRACK". THIS VEHICLE WAS AT STAND STILL IN TRAFFIC JAM ON HIGHWAY7/25/19 WARNING SOUNDS AND MESSAGE APPEARED ON DASHBOARD OF VEHICLE STATING TO PULL OVER DUE TO ENGINE OVERHEATING. VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN 1 MORE MILE TO HIGHWAY EXIT, PULLED INTO GAS STATION AT EXIT, HOOD OPENED TO SHOW NO COOLANT PRESENT IN TANK. VEHICLE ALLOWED TO COOL FOR 30MIN, PLACED APPROPRIATE AMOUNT OF ORANGE COOLANT IN TANK AS INSTRUCTED TO BY MANUAL AND DROVE CARE ANOTHER HOUR WITHOUT ISSUE. NEXT MORNING COOLANT TANK CHECKED AND NOTED NO COOLANT PRESENT, AGAIN PLACED APPROPRIATE AMOUNT IN TANK AS MANUAL STATES, DROVE VEHICLE ANOTHER HOUR. COOLANT LEVEL CHECKED FOR NEXT FEW DAYS AND HAD NO ISSUE. COOLANT LEVEL CHECK PRIOR TO DRIVING VEHICLE HOME FROM NORTHERN MICHIGAN, AGAIN NONE PRESENT IN TANK, AGAIN ADDED APPROPRIATE AMOUNT OF COOLANT, DROVE HOME APPROX. 350MILES WITHOUT ISSUE. NEXT MORNING (SUNDAY, AUGUST 4TH, 2019) STARTED SUV, ENTIRE VEHICLE WAS SHAKING, LARGE AMOUNT OF WHITE THICK EXHAUST PRESENT, SWEET SMELLING. VEHICLE BROUGHT TO LOCAL MECHANIC, STATED HEAD GASKET NEEDED REPLACED AND STATED A RECALL WAS OUT FOR AN ISSUE WITH A SENSOR THAT COULD MALFUNCTION AND CAUSE THIS DAMAGE. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO TAPPER FORD DEALERSHIP IN PAW, PAW MI FOR FURTHER EVALUATION. THIS DEALERSHIP TOLD US THAT AN ENTIRE NEW ENGINE WAS NEEDED AND WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY FORD. THE PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE OF THIS VEHICLE IS DUE TO THE RECALL STATED ABOVE. HOW CAN FORD REFUSE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AT A COST TO THEM? WAS GIVEN A PHONE QUOTE OF "$8,000.00" FOR THE NEW ENGINE. I DO HAVE A VIDEO OF THE WHITE THICK EXHAUST.
THE CAR WAS STATIONARY. RECALL ISSUE WITH THE COOLANT RESERVOIR. BROKE TWICE AND COVERED BUT THIRD TIME NO WARNING. ENGINE NOW IS CRACKED DUE TO THE LACK OF COOLANT. I HAVE A COOLANT INTRUSION IN THE MOTOR AND IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. FORD WON'T COVER IT BECAUSE THE RECALL WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED PER THE DEALER AND THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER.
IN LINE AT A FAST FOOD DRIVE THROUGH, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND TEMPERATURE GAUGE CAME ON. SHUT VEHICLE DOWN AND THEN DROVE TO THE DEALERSHIP, HAD A CYLINDER 3 MISFIRE AND LOW COOLANT. AFTER NUMEROUS TESTS I AM TOLD THAT MY ENGINE IS CONSUMING COOLANT AND THAT IT WILL NEED TO REPLACED.I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THIS IS A COMMON AND KNOWN ISSUE AMONG MY VEHICLE/ENGINE TYPE YET NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED.

AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE WAS IDLING ROUGHLY, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, AND WHITE SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE EXHAUST. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KEY FORD (422 US-1, YORK, MAINE) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEAD GASKET WAS FAULTY AND DAMAGED THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.
GET A "ENGINE FAULT SERVICE NOW" NOTIFICATION ON DASH WHEN I START THE CAR - IF I DRIVE WITH THAT NOTICE UP ON THE DASH MY CAR SPUTTERS. HAD IT RAN THROUGH THE COMPUTER AND IT LINES UP EXACTLY WITH RECALL: NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 14V495000. BUT, MY VIN IS NOT COVERED.
UPON BEGINNING. TO MOVE FORWARD (PULLING INTO TRAFFIC) THE ENGINE WILL SOMETIMES STALL(CUT OFF) . OTHER TIMES IT WILL BEGIN TO RUN VERY ROUGH SOMETIMES CAUSING ITHE ENGINE TO STALL. ALTHOUGH THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE PART OF RECALL # 14S30 OR #14S20 THE CONDITIONS ARE VERY SIMILAR TO THESE REPORTS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE THE CONTACT'S SPOUSE WAS ACCELERATING AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH FROM A STOP, THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS INITIALLY TOWED TO GIRARD FORD (LOCATED AT 450 W THAMES ST, NORWICH, CT 06360, (860) 889-2601). HOWEVER, DUE TO THE COST TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000. PIIR = Y.
IN THE 2013-2014 ESCAPE, AWD, THERE IS A KNOWN FAILING PART AND THEY HAVE A SERVICE ADVISORY, SSM 46965, TO ADDRESS THIS BUT WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL. MANY HAVE FAILED, INCLUDING OURS, JUST OUT OF WARRANTY, AND THEY GET TO CHARGE US $800 TO REPAIR. THIS FAILING PART IS THE "VISCOUS COUPLER" OR CLUTCH IN THE RDU OR REAR DIFFERENTIAL. IT IS A 1.5 HOUR REPAIR JOB THAT THEY CHARGE 3 HOURS LABOR TO DO. WHEN IT FAILS, YOU GET VERY LOUD POPS AND GRINDING NOISES FROM THE REAR END WHEN TURNING TIGHT TURNS IN A PARKING LOT. IF NEGLECTED, IT WILL EVENTUALLY FAIL COMPLETELY. THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN PROBLEM SINCE 2013 AND FORD CONTINUES TO MILK PROFITS OFF IT TO THIS DAY. I BELIEVE WE SHOULD BE RE-EMBURSED FOR THE REPAIRS.
MY FORD GAVE OFF EXHAUST SMELL FROM TIME TO TIME AND OCCASIONALLY THE ENGINE LIGHT MAY COME ON. BUT DEALERSHIP DID NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS RECENTLY, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I DROVE MY CARD TO THE NEAREST FORDS DEALERSHIP BUT, NEEDED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. ADVISED COULD DRIVE HOME IF NO UNUSUAL SOUNDS. ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF BEFORE APPOINTMENT, SO I CANCELED. 2-3 WEEKS LATER ENGINE LIGHT, CAME BACK ON WITH SMELL OF FUMES. I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT. THE DAY OF THE APPOINTMENT, I STARTED THE CAR AND COOLANT LIGHT ALSO CAME ON AT START WITH THE SMELL OF FUMES. FEELING UNEASY DRIVING THE CAR, I HAD 2014 FORD ESCAPE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT I FREQUENT AND DESCRIBE ENGINE LIGHT AND COOLANT LIGHT CAME ON DURING START, WITH A LOUD HUMMING NOISE. SINCE I HAD ALREADY SCHEDULED TO GET THE WORKS SYNTHETIC OIL CHANGE AND VEHICLE MAINTENANCE ON THE SAME DAY, I ALSO REQUESTED DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CAR WAS KEPT OVERNIGHT. THERE IS ONLY 47746 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND TOO MANY ISSUES. I WAS ADVISED THE CAR HAD MISFIRED CODES AND OVERHEAT CODES. PRESSURED TESTED COOLANT PULLED THE SPARK PLUG, FOUND COOLANT IN A CYLINDER. THE CAR NEEDS A HEAD GASKET. CAR SMOKED DURING COLD START AND EXHAUST SMELLS LIKE COOLANT. MY CAR WAS PREVIOUSLY RECALLED FOR A DOOR HATCH AND OVERHEATING.. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE FOR ENGINE LIGHT, BUT, VEHICLE CHECK-UP ALWAYS SEEMS TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. ON ONE OCCASION, REQUESTED OIL CHANGE AND VEHICLE INSPECTION, WHEN ALMOST A QUARTER OF A MILE FROM HOME ALL OF THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS CAME ON. HAD THE CAR TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE ISSUE SEEMED TO BE RESOLVED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ELDER FORD OF TAMPA (9560 N FLORIDA AVE, TAMPA, FL 33612), BUT THEY DID NOT HAVE ANY APPOINTMENTS AVAILABLE FOR TWO WEEKS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A NEW SPARK PLUG AND COIL WERE NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. TWO WEEKS LATER, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEAD GASKET FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,726.
I PURCHASED MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE ECOBOOST BRAND NEW, SOLE OWNER. I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH LOSING COOLANT FOR APPROX 2 YEARS AND TAKING IT BACK AND FORTH TO THE FORD DEALER. THE DEALER RAN MULTIPLE TESTS ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS AND FOUND NOTHING, EVEN CALLING IT "ONE OF THOSE FORD MYSTERIES". TODAY, 7/18/19 ON THE WAY TO WORK, MY SUV LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATE. I WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND WHEN THE LIGHT CHANGED AND I HIT THE GAS, MY SUV BARELY MOVED. AFTER APPROX 10 SECS, MY SUV JERKED AND ACCELERATED TO AN ALMOST NORMAL SPEED. THAT LASTED ONLY FOR A FEW SECONDS, WHEN IT STARTED TO BARELY MOVE AGAIN. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE SLOWLY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, OUT OF TRAFFIC. THERE I WAITED FOR A TOW TRUCK, WHO TOOK THE SUV TO THE FORD DEALER. I HAVE GOTTEN ALL MY MAINTENANCE AND OIL CHANGES DONE AT THE FORD DEALER SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR, SO OF COURSE I'M SHOCKED TO HEAR THAT AFTER ONLY 77,000 MILES, I HAVE A TRANSMISSION FAILURE. I'M EVEN MORE SHOCKED TO FIND ENDLESS COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THE SAME ISSUES AND FORD HAS DONE NOTHING. I OWNED MY PREVIOUS CAR FOR 13 YEARS, WITH NO MAJOR ISSUES. IT WAS STILL RUNNING WHEN I PURCHASED MY FORD ESCSPE. I CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO FIX A MAJOR ISSUE THAT SHOULDN'T HAVE FAILED WITHIN 5 YEARS. THIS IS SAD AND FORD SHOULD BE ASHAMED THAT THEY ARE STEALING, BY PUTTING OUT SUCH A POOR PRODUCT TO THE WORKING CLASS PEOPLE AND REFUSING TO TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY.
MY CAR IS THROWING P0303 CODE CYLINDER 3 MISFIRE AND ALSO LOOSING ENGINE COOLANT. CAR HAS GONE INTO LIMP MODE. THERE WAS A RECALL BUT IT DIDN'T FIX THE ISSUE. THERE ARE SEVERAL FORUMS WITH MANY PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MECHANICS TELLING THEM THAT ITS A HEAD GASKET ISSUE AND THEY NEED A NEW ENGINE. MY CAR HAS 109,000 MILES. WE REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS AND SWITCHED THE COILS TO SEE IF THE MISFIRE WOULD SWITCH AND IT HASN'T. WE HAVE DRAINED AND REFILLED THE COOLANT AND IT IS STILL LOOSING BUT NO VISIBLE LEAKS. CAR SOMETIMES STARTS ROUGH.
AT 85,000 MILES, I GET A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT UPON START UP AND IT SPUTTERS. IT GOES ON AND OFF AS I AM DRIVING. I BRING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY TELL ME IT'S THE #3 COIL AND CHANGE THAT AND GIVE ME A NEW SET OF SPARK PLUGS. PROBLEM IS, THEY SAID THE WARRANTY WAS ONLY GOOD FOR A TOTAL OF 60,000 MILES. I HAVE NO WARRANTY. THE COST IS $350. FINE, I PAID IT, TOOK IT HOME AND START LOOKING FOR ANOTHER FORD BECAUSE I NEED ONE WITH A WARRANTY. I LOOK THROUGH MY ORIGINAL PAPERWORK AND THE FINE PRINT SAYS THE EXPIRATION IS THE TOTAL OF 60,000 NOT AN ADDITIONAL. MY BAD FOR TRUSTING WHAT THE F&I PERSON TOLD ME INSTEAD OF READING THE CONTRACT. WE GO ON VACATION, LEAVE THE ESCAPE HOME AND FIRST DAY BACK AT WORK THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, PLUS A NEW LIGHT WHILE I AM DRIVING TELLING ME THE ENGINE COOLANT IS LOW AND TO SERVICE IT SOON. I CALL MY SERVICE ADVISER, HE ASKED IF THE TEMPERATURE IS HIGH AND IT WAS NOT. HE SAID TO DRIVE IT TO THEM, AND THEY WILL LOOK AT IT. I GET A CALL LATER THAT DAY SAYING THAT THE ENGINE BLOCK IS CRACKED, AND I NEED $5,300 TO GET A NEW BLOCK OR $6,500 TO GET A NEW ENGINE. HE ALSO EXPLAINED THAT THE 1.9L TURBO ESCAPES ARE EXPERIENCING A LOT OF ISSUES AND HE HAS 2 AT THE DEALERSHIP RIGHT NOW WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.

THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL; THEREFORE, THEY COULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.

THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR A FEW YEARS NOW-NORMALLY I CAN TURN VEHICLE OFF AND THEN ON AGAIN AND THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT ERROR WILL GO AWAY. NOW THIS ERROR DOESN'T GO AWAY AND THERE IS NO POWER STEERING. WHEN THIS FIRST STARTED TO HAPPEN IT WAS TAKEN TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS NOT AN ISSUE, IF I GO ONLINE I SEE NUMEROUS PEOPLE WITH THIS SAME ISSUE WITH LITTLE RESULTS FROM FORD. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED IN FORD FOR NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY. NOT SURE WHAT I WILL DO THE GARAGE IS GOING TO TRY TO RESET THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, THEY SAID 50/50 CHANCE IT WILL WORK.

The contact pulled over to the side of the road and opened the hood and saw coolant leaking all over the engine. The contact added some water in the vehicle and waited a few minutes and drove back to the residence. The contact’s husband works as a mechanic and diagnosed the vehicle with a cracked coolant reservoir. The vehicle was repaired, and the entire cooling system was replaced however, the failure persisted. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic to be inspected however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact was informed that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V209000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
WHEN IDLING THE VEHICLE SHAKES REALLY BAD. GOING DOWN THE ROAD EVERYTHING IS FINE. AS SOON AS YOU STOP IT STARTS SHAKING AGAIN. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE AC IS ON OR OFF. OCCASIONALLY THERE IS HESITATION WHEN GIVING IT GAS AND TRYING TO MOVE. SOMETIMES IT WON'T GO FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE SMOOTHLY.
TRANSMISSION FAULT SERVICE NOW LIGHT HAS CAME ON. THE CAR NO LONGER SHIFTS GEARS WHILE DRIVING. PREVIOUSLY, THE CAR WOULD SHIFT VERY HARD, ROCKING THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING, STALLING, THEN GOING BACK TO ACCELERATION.
THE MULTI-FUNCTION DISPLAY IN MY INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT BLANK. AS A RESULT THE WARNING CHIMES, MESSAGES AND WARNING LIGHTS ARE NON-FUNCTIONAL. I AM NOT WARNED OF SAFETY ISSUES SUCH AS LOW TIRE PRESSURE OR DISABLED AIRBAGS. THIS IS ALSO THE ONLY PLACE ON THE CAR WHERE THE MILEAGE IS SHOWN SO I DON'T EVEN KNOW MY MILEAGE!
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK THE CAR LOST POWER SUDDENLY. THE CAR THEN SUDDENLY ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN AND LOST POWER. THE CAR BECAME IMMOBILE AFTER JUST A FEW MINUTES OF THE INITIAL PROBLEM THE CAR WAS STUCK ON THE ROAD UNTIL HELP COULD ARRIVE TO LOVE IT OFF THE ROAD WHERE IT CAME TO A STOP. THE CAR WAS ON A COUNTY ROAD, IN MOTION, WITH NO PRE INDICATION OF ISSUE. THE CARS TRANSMISSION IS BELIEVED BAD FROM THIS EVENT AND THE CAR CAN NOT BE DRIVEN OR MOVED UNDER ITS OWN POWER.
VEHICLE WILL STOP RUNNING WHILE IN MOTION WITHOUT WARNING. ALSO GIVES OFF HEAVY EXHAUST SMELL. THERE IS ONLY 100K MILES ON IT. IT IS DUE TO A COOLANT LEAK INTO THE CYLINDER 3 CAUSING A GASKET TO BLOW (SEE ATTACHMENT FOR INVOICE AND DETAILS). WE WERE TOLD BY THE CAR SHOP THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO AT LEAST 5 OTHER FORD ESCAPE OWNERS (WE AREN'T IN A HEAVILY POPULATED AREA, SO THIS IS SIGNIFICANT). CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE DUE TO HIGH RISK OF BECOMING STRANDED, WHICH IS NOT SAFE DUE TO TRAFFIC, CHILDREN ON BOARD, HOT WEATHER, AND SO ON.
THE CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL HAS STOPPED WORKING ON OUR 2014 FORD ESCAPE.THE VEHICLE FAILS TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD (FMVSS) NUMBER 101, "CONTROL AND DISPLAYS. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD, ALTHOUGH THEY RECALLED SOME VEHICLES FOR THIS ISSUE, MY SPECIFIC VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED.

The contact then received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V331000 (Latches/ Locks/Linkages) which the contact linked to the failure. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where she was informed that the recall could not be serviced due to the numbers on her door not matching the numbers on the recall. The contact was informed that the dealer would contact the manufacturer about the failure; however, the contact had not yet received a response from the dealer. The contact took the vehicle back to the dealer twice and was denied service both times. The contact then called the manufacturer who referred her to NHTSA for assistance. I'VE BEEN SENT MULTIPLE ESTIMATES AND SERVICE REPORTS THAT ARE NOT FACTUAL AND THE ESTABLISHMENT DOES NOT WANT TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS VEHICLE FIRE.

WHILE DRIVING THROUGH THE CITY MY CAR OVERHEATED TO THE POINT WHERE THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN IT BROKE DOWN. IT ALL HAPPENED WITHIN 5-10 SECONDS.. I NEVER HAD OVERHEATING ISSUES WITH MY CAR. I HAD IT SERVICED WITH FORD FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THEY TOPPED OFF MY FLUIDS A WEEK PRIOR THIS ACCIDENT. LUCKILY MY CAR BROKE DOWN NOT TOO FAR AWAY FROM THE DEALERSHIP SO I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE QUICK. AFTER 2 DAYS LATER THE DEALERSHIP CALLED ME AND TOLD ME THEY WOULD NEED TO INSTALL A COOLANT LEVEL SENSOR SYSTEM KIT AND IT WOULD COST ME $1300 PLUS TAX. THAT HAPPENED ON FRIDAY AND I NEEDED A WEEKEND TO THINK ABOUT IT. OVER THE WEEKEND I FOUND OUT THAT FORD ESCAPE HAS A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE BUT MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT REFLECTING THAT. UPON MORE RESEARCH ABOUT MY VEHICLE I FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS ASSEMBLED IN THE FACTORY AND ON THE DATE THAT THE RECALL STATES IT. THE RECALL NUMBER FOR THIS ISSUE IS 17S09. MY LOCAL FORD IN NORTH CHARLESTON , SC SAYS THAT THIS CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS ISSUE BECAUSE MY CAR WAS MISSING THE SENSOR THAT WOULD HAVE ALARMED ME IF MY CAR WAS OVERHEATING DAYS OR WEEKS BEFORE.
I WAS RUNNING ERRANDS, WHEN I STARTED MY CAR I GOT A MESSAGE "STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED". I COULD STILL DRIVE THE CAR BUT IT TOOK A LOT OF EFFORT TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE MESSAGE APPEARS WHEN THE KEY IS TURNED ON BEFORE STARTING THE CAR, I DID DRIVE IT HOME, MY WIFE WOULDN'T HAVE THE STRENGTH TO DRIVE IT. I HAVEN'T TRIED TO GET IT REPAIRED YET, THAT WILL HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL I GET BACK FROM A TRIP.
THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT THE FIRST FEW WEEKS I HAD THE VEHICLE. THEN THE REARVIEW CAMERA WENT OUT NOW MY RADIO HAS GONE OUT THE BACK WINDSHIELD DOESN'T WORK. IT HAS BEEN ONE THING AFTER ANOTHER AND I HAVEN'T HAD THE VEHICLE A YEAR. SOME OF THE THING HAPPENED IN MOTION AND IN PARK. MOSTLY IN MOTION.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY GOING NORTH. I ALREADY SAT IN BACKED UP TRAFFIC FOR 1 1/2 HOURS WITH NO ISSUES FROM MY FORD ESCAPE. I PUT MY BLINKER ON AND GOT INTO THE RIGHT MIDDLE LANE. I WAS GOING MAYBE 15 MPH AND MY CAR JUST DIED. NO WARNING, NO PUTTERING, NO SIGN OF DISTRESS AT ALL. I PUT MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON AND PUT IT IN PARK SO I COULD TAKE THE KEY OUT AND TRY AND RESTART THE CAR. IT WOULDN'T TURN OVER OR ANYTHING. MY DASH BOARD LIGHTS WERE ALL TURNING ON BUT ABSOLUTELY NOT A SOUND FROM THE ENGINE OR ANYTHING. I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE LANE OF THE FREEWAY LATE AT NIGHT. I HAD TO CALL STATE PATROL BECAUSE IT WAS AN EMERGENCY. I COULDN'T TAKE MY CAR OUT OF PARK SO I HAD TO SIT THERE AND WAIT FOR STATE PATROL AND A TOW TRUCK. I WAS THERE FOR ALMOST AN HOUR. I WAS HONKED AT, FLIPPED OFF, AND EVEN THREATENED. WORST EXPERIENCE ON MY LIFE. AFTER WE GOT IT TOWED THE GUY TRIED TO SEE IF HE COULD START IT AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP FOR HIM. ALL HE DID WAS PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. DIDN'T PUTTER OR ANYTHING AFTERWARDS AND STOP NO LIGHT. NO ONE HAS ANY CLUE WHAT COULD BE WRONG.
