TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING AND PREPARING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, IT STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DRIVER POWERED OFF THE ENGINE, RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED DOWN THE ROAD. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME AT 10 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TOWED TO HARDY FAMILY FORD (1255 MARIETTA HWY, GALLS, GA 30157, (770) 445-8891) WHERE THE MECHANIC DROVE AROUND THE PARKING LOT AND STATED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 106,000.
WHILE SHIFTING THE TRANSMISSION FROM DRIVE TO PARK THE BUSHING THAT ATTACHES THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER CABLE TO THE TRANSMISSION DID DEGRADE OVER TIME AND CAUSED THE BUSHING TO DETACH FROM THE TRANSMISSION. THE CONDITION DID ALLOW THE DRIVER TO MOVE THE SHIFT LEVER TO PARK AND REMOVE THE IGNITION KEY, WHILE THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN REVERSE. THERE WAS NO WARNING MESSAGE OR AUDIBLE CHIME. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED ON FLAT BED. THE BUSHING DEGRADED TO THE POINT WHERE IT FELL OUT OF THE CABLE HOUSING. DOCUMENTS ARE AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO GUS MACHADO FORD OF KENDALL (15551 S DIXIE HWY, MIAMI, FL 33157, (305) 238-9211) TO BE REPAIRED PER AN UNKNOWN RECALL REGARDING THE DOOR LATCH. THE INITIAL REPAIR TOOK PLACE IN JANUARY OF 2018 AND RECURRED ON OCTOBER 1, 2019. WHEN THE FAILURE RECURRED, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER UNKNOWN DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT SINCE THE RECALL REPAIR WAS ALREADY PERFORMED ONCE, THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR IT AGAIN AT NO COST TO THE CONTACT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
THE VEHICLE INTERMENTANTLY WILL STALL INSTANTLY LIKE IT RUNS OUT OF GAS AND THAN YOU PULLOVER STOP AND PUT IT IN PARK AND IT STARTS RIGHT UP, I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT! I SEEN THERE WERE RECALLS FOR 2014 FORD ESCAPES WITH THIS PROBLEM OF JUST STALLING FOR NO REASON WITH A COUPLE DIFFERENT REMEDIES REPAIRED BY FORD AND I CALLED FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THEY SAID MY VIN DID NOT MATCH FOR THE RECALL. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY, IF I HAVE THE EXACT YEAR ESCAPE THE RECALL WAS FOR WHY THEY WILL NOT REPAIR OR REPLACE THE PART THE RECALL STATES IS THE PROBLEM. DO YOU HAVE TO HAVE A ACCIDENT/INJURIES OR DEATH DUE TO THIS PROBLEM BEFORE THEY WILL DO ANYTHING?
MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE SE, 1.6L ECOBOOST SUV. HAS A VERY DIFFICULT TIME RESTARTING WHEN GAS IS FILLED AT THE GAS STATION. THE CAR NEEDS TO BE REVED AND THEN PUT INTO DRIVE IMMEDIATELY OR IT WILL STALL. ONCE THE CAR HAS RUN FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS THE CAR WILL NORMALIZE AND NO LONGER TURN OFF UNTIL THE NEXT FILL UP. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS THERE HAVE BEEN TIMES WHEN THE CAR HAS TURNED OFF ON ME WHILE I WAS ATTEMPTING TO ENTER AN INTERSECTION RIGHT AFTER THE AFOREMENTIONED PROCEDURE. FROM WHAT I'VE GATHERED THIS IS AN ISSUE FORD HAS WITH THE FOCUS MODEL. THE ISSUE BEING THE PURGE VALVE BEING STUCK AND CAUSING TO MUCH VACUUM IN THE SYSTEM. IF THE GAS LEVEL GETS TO LOW THE CAR WILL START SHUTTERING AND WANTING TO STALL. ADDITIONALLY, THERE IS A HIGH PITCHED NOISE THAT IS COMING FROM THE GAS FILL CAP AREA. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE GAS IS ABOUT A 1/4 OF A TANK FULL.
TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT GO INTO GEAR CAR WOULD NOT GO FORWARDS.
I HAVE ALREADY FILED A COMPLAINT REGARDING THE COOLANT LIGHT SENSOR THAT KEPT COMING ON WHEN THERE WAS COOLANT IN THE CAR. LESS THAN ONE WEEK AFTER PAYING TO HAVE THE SENSOR REPLACED, MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON FOR A CYLINDER 2 MISFIRE. SO NOW I AM BEING TOLD THIS IS A CRACKED HEAD GASKET. I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR FOR ONE MONTH AND IT HAS LESS THAN 100,000 MILES. THIS IS THE EXACT PROBLEM LISTED IN THE FORD RECALL 17S09 AND THIS VEHICLE WAS MADE AT THE PLANT ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECALL DURING THE TIMEFRAME. THE EXPENSE OF THIS REPAIR NEEDS TO BE PAID FOR BY FORD. IT IS EXPENSIVE AND NOW MY CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING, THE TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONED. WHEN THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE STOPPED MOVING AND ROLLED BACKWARDS TOWARDS A BUSY INTERSECTION. THERE WAS NO CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REFERRED THE CONTACT TO SANDS FORD OF POTTSVILLE (1456 ROUTE 61 S, POTTSVILLE, PA 17901, (570) 622-1991) AT THE SUGGESTION OF THE MANUFACTURER. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT SINCE THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED, THE DEALER COULD NOT HELP WITH THE REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,232.
MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE OVERHEATED AS A RESULT OF A CRACK IN THE COOLANT DEGAS BOTTLE. THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF LOW COOLANT LEVEL PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. FORD REPLACED THE DEGAS BOTTLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND I PAID THE WARRANTY DEDUCTIBLE. UPON INVESTIGATION, I DISCOVERED RECALL 17S09 WHICH IS PERTINENT TO A LOW COOLANT WARNING SYSTEM ISSUE. ACCORDING TO THE DOCUMENT, MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE, BUILT IN LOUISVILLE IN MAY OF 2014 IS ONE OF THE AFFECTED VEHICLES. (PLEASE SEE ATTACHMENT) I HAVE TWO CONCERNS. FIRST AND FOREMOST, MY VEHICLE HAS EXPERIENCED OVERHEATING WITH ALMOST NO WARNING OF A LOW COOLANT CONDITION. I BELIEVE THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN WARNING OF A LOW COOLANT SITUATION PRIOR TO THE EVENT, INDICATING THE CORRECTIONS TO THE SYSTEM PER 17S09 MAY BE NECESSARY TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE'S ENGINE. SECOND, I PAID FOR A REPAIR UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED WITHIN THE SCOPE OF 17S09. THE FORD DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THEY CANNOT COMPLETE THIS RECALL UNLESS NOTIFIED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY. CAN YOU PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS CONCERN? MY EXTENDED WARRANTY WILL EXPIRE IN JUNE.
THE CAR KEEP GIVING ME A MESSAGE THAT IS OVERHEATING, THEN THE AC START BLOWING HOT AIR BUT THE CAR IS NOT HOT. WITHIN 3 MINUTES THE MESSAGING AWAY THE AC START WORKING LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED. ALSO THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS NOT TO CHANGE AT ALL WHEN THIS IS HAPPENING TO THE CAR.
WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT, I WENT TO DRIVE WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND MY CAR WOULDN'T MOVE AFTER PRESSING DOWN ON THE GAS. THE RPMS DIDN'T GO UP AND THE CAR JUST SAT THERE WITH NO WARNING THAT THERE WAS AN ISSUE. I PUT THE CAR INTO PARK TO SWITCH GEARS BACK TO DRIVE AGAIN TO TRY AND GO AND THE CAR JERKED FORWARD AND THEN THE RPMS WENT UP AND STALLED A COUPLE OF TIMES AS I TRIED TO MAKE IT TO THE NEXT PARKING LOT. I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNED THE CAR OFF BECAUSE I THOUGHT MAYBE THERE WAS A SYSTEM GLITCH SIMILAR TO A RECENT RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. AFTER ABOUT TEN MINUTES I TRIED AGAIN TO DRIVE IT AND THE CAR STARTED UP OKAY STILL WITH NO WARNING SIGNALS REGISTERING. DRIVING AFTER LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES THE CAR WOULDN'T CONTINUE DRIVING WHILE IN FORWARD MOTION AS I WAS PRESSING DOWN ON THE GAS DOWN THE STREET. I PUMPED THE GAS PEDAL MULTIPLE TIMES WITH NO SUCCESS OF BEING ABLE TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE AS THE CAR STARTED TO STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC, SO I PROCEEDED TO TURN ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS AND TRY TO MAKE IT TO THE NEXT PARKING LOT AGAIN AS IT WAS SLOWLY STARTING AND STOPPING WHILE IN DRIVE JERKING FORWARD. THE CAR MADE IT THROUGH ANOTHER LIGHT AND THEN STARTED TO STALL AGAIN SO I TRIED TO CONTINUE TO FIND MY WAY TO THE PARKING LOT IN THE MALL AND OUT OF TRAFFIC. THE SIGNAL FOR TRANSMISSION WARNING APPEARED NOW AND I TRIED TO CONTINUE TO PRESS THE ACCELERATOR BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE BARELY BUT WAS ABLE TO PARK TO GET MY CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE I KNEW IT WAS NO LONGER SAFE TO TRY AND CONTINUE DRIVING THE CAR.
MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE WITH THE 1.6L ECOBOOST HAS A SAFETY RECALL FOR CRACKING OF THE CYLINDER HEAD, THERE FIX FOR THIS ONLY TO PLACE A COOLANT SENSOR IN THE COOLANT RESERVOIR. SO I HAD THE RECALL INSTALLED, NOT LONG AFTER I STARED HAVING ISSUES WITH LOSSING COOLANT. NEXT IF STARED MISSING WELL I TOOK IT IN AND THE DEALER SAID "YOU HAVE A CRACKED ENGINE BLOCK" WHEN ASK TO PROVE THE BLOCK WAS CRACKED THEY COULD NOT, AND THE DEALER ALSO TOLD ME THAT, "THEY HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE EVEN IF ITS ONLY A HEAD" SO FORD IS MAKING TO WHERE THE COSTUMER IS RESPONSABLE FOR REPLACING THE ENGINE. THEN AFTER I GOT MY CAR BACK 2 MONTHS LATER, MY STREERING HAD A CATCH OCCASIONALLY THEN STARTED LOCKING UP COMPLETELY AND HAPPEND TO BE STATIONARY OR VERY LOW SPEEDS WHEN IT DID LOCK UP. SO I TAKE IT BACK TO FORD DEALER AGAIN THEY SAY I HAVE TO PAY FOR EVERY THING SO WHEN I GO TO DO THE WORK MYSELF I DESCOVIORED THEY COMPLETLY LEFT OF THE SHROUD UNDER THE CAR THAT CHANNALS COLD AIR BETWEEN THE EXHUST AND ELECTRONIC STEERING GEAR. SO TOOK IT BACK AND MADE THE DEALER REPLACE THE PART. THE DEALER TOLD ME THIS IS A COMON PROBLEM. THIS IS DEFENTLEY A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS ADDRESSED!!!
I'LL BE DRIVING, THE IT WILL STOP AND THROW UP THE OIL LIGHT, BATTERY LIGHT AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT. I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP ON 122ND ST IN PORTLAND, THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG BECAUSE IT WASN'T THROWING ANY CODES. NOW I'M SITTING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE ERROR CODE SAYS ENGINE FAULT SERVICE NOW. I'VE HAD REGULAR MAINTENANCE ON THE CAR SO NOT SURE WHY THIS IS HAPPENING. CARS/SUVS SHOULDN'T JUST STOP WORKING WHILE YOU'RE DRIVING THEM.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND MY CAR STARTED TO SLOW DOWN. I ASSUMED IT WAS GAS BECAUSE MY TANK WAS LOW. I PUT GAVE IN MY CAR AND MY CAR DID NOT START UNTIL 2 TRIES. WHEN IT CAME ON THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON AND MY CAR STARTED MAKEING A VERY LOUD WEIRD NOISE. I'VE ONLY HAD THE CAR TWICE AND THIS HAVE ALREADY HAPPENED TO ME TWICE

ONCE THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, THE TRANSMISSION WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL UNTIL THEY WERE ABLE TO GAIN CONTROL AND TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO TOM WOOD FORD (3130 96TH STREET, INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46240, 888-714-6941) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TORQUE CONVERTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 119,000. *TT THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE ONCE AGAIN ON 10/6/19. *TR
TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION IN THIS VEHICLE DIES AT AROUND 70,000 MILES. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT AND FORD HAS NOT YET ISSUED A RECALL. MY DAUGHTER ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION FAILING. IT IS REPREHENSIBLE THAT FORD IS ALLOWING THIS TO GO WITHOUT A RECALL. THEY ARE PUTTING PEOPLES LIFE AT RISK DUE TO GREED
AFTER STARTING IGNITION AND CAR IDOLS/DRIVEN HEAVY GAS/EMISSIONS SMELL FILLS CABIN WHEN USING HEAT/A/C OR DEFROST SYSTEMS. ENGINE LIGHT SOMETIMES GOES ON. CAR HAS 35,100 MI. TOOK CAR TO QUEENS NY FORD SERVICE CENTER 4 HOURS LATER $400 LATER, CHANGED CABIN FILTER AND SPRAYED FRAGRANCE ON IT. TOLD MUST USE CABIN RECYCLE AIR FUNCTION. FORD OWNERS MANUAL DOESNT SAY MUST USE AND IN NO OTHER CAR HAVE HAD TO MUST USE THIS FUNCTION. I HAVE A CASE# CAS24667125 AND APPT FOR 11/6/19. FORD BUILT THIS CAR TECH'S SHOULD KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS!
ON OR ABOUT AUGUST OF 2019 MY CAR BEGAN PULLING WHEN I WAS ON THE FREEWAY. THE CAR THEN JUST TURNED OFF AND I WAS LUCK TO VEER OFF TO THE RIGHT WITHOUT HITTING ANY OTHER CARS. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP (SERRA FORD IN ROCHESTER, MI) ONLY TO FIND OUT I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THE CAR WAS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD AND EVEN THOUGH IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY (MILEAGE) 112,000 MILES ON THE CAR AND FORD REFUSED TO ASSIST ME IN REPAIRING THE CAR. I HAVE PURCHASED FORD CARS SINCE 1998 AND KEPT THEM FOR OVER 8 YEARS. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE A TRANSMISSION ON A CAR LET ALONE WHEN ITS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD. SERRA FORD (MATT) STATED THAT THE OVERDRIVE BAND FAILED FIRST WHICH CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO OVERHEAT. THE MATERIAL THEN DESENAGRATED AND METAL WAS SUCKED INTO THE TUBE FOR THE ACTUAL TRANSMISSION PUMP. HE RECOMMENDED ANOTHER TRANSMISSION BUT I WANTED TO KNOW WHY THEY ENGINE LIGHT NEVER CAME ON WHEN THE OVERDRIVE BAND FAILED? I ASKED THE SAME QUESTION TO THE REP AT FORD AND NO ONE COULD ANSWER ME. I FEEL LIKE I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD TO PURCHASE ANOTHER USED TRANSMISSION HAD THE SENSOR INDICATED THAT SOMETHING WAS GOING ON WITH THE ENGINE. I REALLY WANT FORD TO REFUND ME FOR THE MONEY I HAD TO SPEND ON MY TRANSMISSION.
THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN FOR MORE THAN 3 HOURS. I PUSHED THE REMOTE START AND THE CAR STARTED, BUT IT SHUT OFF ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. THE SHUT DOWN WAS DUE TO OVERHEATING. THE ENGINE WAS COOL AND THE COOLANT WAS TEPID AT BEST. THIS IS NOT AN OVERHEATING ISSUE. THE CAR WILL NOT RUN ON MORE THAN 2 CYLINDERS. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE THE RECALL FOR THE COOLANT SENSOR. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE I WAS CHARGED TO DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. THIS SHOULD BE NO CHARGE SINCE IT WAS RECALLED FOR THE OVERHEATING ISSUE. THIS OVERHEATING HAS CAUSED MY TRANSMISSION AND TORQUE CONVERTER TO FAIL AS WELL. THE COST OF THE TRANSMISSION SHOULD BE REIMBURSED BY FORD SINCE THEY HAVE KNOW ABOUT THE OVERHEATING ISSUE FOR A LONG TIME NOW.
TRANSMISSION FAILED AND EXTENDED WARRANTY REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION, THE CURRENT TRANSMISSION FAILED WITHOUT WARNINGTO THE OPERATOR WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MILES AN HOUR IN MODERATE TRAFFIC, LOSS OF LIFE WAS JUST NARROWLY AVOIDED DUE TO UNCOMING TRAFFIC. DOES SOMEONE GAVE TO BE DESEASED IN A CAR ACCIDENT BEFORE THIS IS FIXED ON THESE VEHICLES.
LEFT DRIVEWAY AND A MINUTE DOWN THE ROAD (ON A CITY STREET) AS THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE THE GEARS JOLTED AND STEERING SEIZED UP MAKING ME UNABLE TO AVOID A CAR PARKED AROUND A BEND THAT WAS A FOOT IN THE ROAD. NO LIGHTS CAME ON AND NO WARNING APPEARED. I HAD AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE IT TO THE SHOP IN A FEW DAYS BECAUSE WHEN SWITCHING GEARS OR ACCELERATING AFTER VEHICLE IS STOPPED IT JOLTS/FEELS LIKE IT'S TRYING HARDER THAN IT SHOULD HAVE TO FOR BEING SUCH A NEW VEHICLE, AND HAVEN'T EVEN OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR A MONTH. IT'S VERY UPSETTING TO JUST GET A NEW TO ME CAR AND HAVE AN UNAVOIDABLE ACCIDENT. IT'S CURRENTLY AT THE SERVICE SHOP. LUCKILY NO ONE WAS INJURED BUT BOTH VEHICLES ARE BADLY DAMAGED. THIS ISN'T THE FIRST COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE AND THERE'S MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS JUST THIS YEAR. I HAVE A FEELING AS TIME GOES ON AND VEHICLES HIT BETWEEN 50-80 THOUSAND MILES THE ISSUE WILL BECOME MORE APPARENT. FORD SHOULD DEFINITELY HAVE A RECALL AND FIX THIS PROBLEM SO NO ONE BECOMES SERIOUSLY INJURED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, AN ABNORMAL NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS HOT. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE INDICATOR DID NOT ILLUMINATE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS COOL. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,000.
WHEN APPROACHING A LIGHT POWER ASSIST FAILURE ERROR APPEARED I QUICKLY REALIZED THAT STEERING WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. LUCKILY I WAS CLOSE AND ABLE TO GET TO WORK. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE IT IN TO MY FORD DEALER. ON THE WAY TO THE APPOINTMENT THE STEERING WENT OUT TWICE. I RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT A FEW HOURS AFTER DROPPING THE CAR OFF INFORMING ME THAT THE ERROR APPEARED WHEN THEY PULLED IT IN AND THAT THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED REPLACED. HAD TO GET A LOAN TO PAY FOR THE $2,000 REPAIR. READING COMPLAINTS IT SEEMS LIKE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 40,740 MILES. NO ISSUES SINCE REPAIR ON 9/19/2019

KIT CJ5Z54264A26A, TO INCLUDE 4 DOOR LATCHES WAS USED TO REPLACE THE ORIGINAL 4 DOOR LATCHES ON THE RECALL INVOICE S212041. THE DEALERSHIP DOCUMENTED THE RECALL REPAIR AS 1.4 HOURS TO GET INSIDE THE DOORS AND PERFORM THE WARRANTY SERVICE. WE WERE NOT CHARGED FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. PRIOR TO THIS REPLACEMENT, AND AS SOLE OWNERS OF THE 2014 ESCAPE, WE HAD NOT HAD AN ISSUE WITH DOOR LATCH FAILURE. ON AUG 31, 2019 IN OXNARD, CA WE EXPERIENCED A DOOR LATCH FAILURE ON THE DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR; IT UNEXPECTEDLY OPENED WHEN WE PARKED. WE WERE NOT ABLE TO CLOSE, LATCH OR SECURE THE DOOR. THE CAR DOOR ALERT SYSTEM INDICATED A DOOR WAS OPEN. WHEN WE ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE THE DOOR, IT WOULD JUST BOUNCE BACK OPEN. WE REFERRED TO THE OWNER'S MANUAL FOR A QUICK FIX AND FOLLOWED THE MANUAL LOCK INSTRUCTIONS AND IT DID NOT WORK. WE SECURED THE DOOR BY ATTACHING A BUNGEE CORD TO THE OTHER REAR DOOR AND DROVE TO A DEALERSHIP. ON SEPTEMBER 3, 2019 AT SIMI VALLEY FORD IN SIMI VALLEY, CA THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT DIAGNOSED A DOOR LATCH FAILURE FOR THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND RECOMMENDED A REPLACEMENT AT A CHARGE OF APPROXIMATELY $325. WE WERE INFORMED THE RECALL REPAIR HAD BEEN CLOSED OUT ON DECEMBER 31, 2018 BY RICHMOND VALLEY FORD. WE WERE TOLD THE REPLACEMENT PART IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE WE HAD EXCEEDED THE 12,000 MILE (OR 12 MONTH) THRESHOLD FOR REPAIRS UNDER WARRANTY. WE DO NOT BELIEVE THE DOOR LATCH IS A MILEAGE DEPENDENT REPAIR AND WE BELIEVE WE SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE ORIGINAL RECALL. WE ARE REPORTING THAT IT APPEARS THE RECALL REPAIR HAS ITSELF FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE AND THAT NHTSA WOULD BE ABLE TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. A CASE WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER, BUT THEY DECLINED TO PROVIDE A CASE NUMBER. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,500.
THE TRANSMISSION QUIT AT 109,000 MILES. I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND WHEN I STARTED TO GO THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACK IN STEAD OF MOVING FORWARD. AFTER LETTING IT SIT FOR A MOMENT I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO MOVE BY REVVING THE ENGINE. I BARELY MADE IT TO THE SAFETY OF A PARKING LOT. THE INTERNET IS FILLED WITH COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AND I AM FACING A $3500.00 REPAIR BILL ON SOMETHING THAT FORD IS WELL AWARE OF AND REFUSES TO FIX. THEY RECALLED MY VEHICLE FOR DOOR LATCHES, BUT NOT A POWER TRAIN ISSUE THAT COULD GET SOMEONE KILLED.
ON AUGUST 23RD, 2019, I WAS DRIVING BACK FROM A 240 MILE ROUND TRIP AND WAS CAUGHT IN A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM. AS I WAS PULLING INOT A PARKING LOT TO WAIT OUT THE STORM, MY POWER STEERING FAILED. AFTER 10 MINUTES IT CAME BACK AND I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME. I TOOK IT TO A SERVICE STATION THE NEXT MORNING AND NO ERROR CODES SHOWED UP. ON AUGUST 30TH AFTER MAKING THE SAME ROUND TRIP, I AGAIN LOST MY POWER STEERING NEAR MY HOME. IT FAILED TO COME BACK. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A LOCAL SHOP. THEY DETERMINED IT WAS A FAILURE IDENTICAL TO THE ACTIVE RECALL IN THE MODEL YEAR PRIOR TO MINE AND IT NEEDED TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED AN INTERNAL FAULT IN THE POWER STEERING RACK WHICH WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. THANKFULLY THE STEERING FAILURES HAPPENED WHEN I WAS EITHER IN THE PROCESS OF PARKING OR ALREADY PARKED.

Currently Ford recalled bushing that connects the transmission to the shifter cable in these vehicles can degrade. Weakened, it will eventually snap. I have already fixed my car multiple times for the same reason. Once I paid for a month before recall after recall I returned the car three times to the dealership to fix cuz they didn't do it right. My car gave me several warning signs to that led up to the bushing actually snapped on me my car is doing the same thing it was doing before it snapped and now I'm going to have to pay for it again. NEXT DAY I STARTED CAR, AND EXPERIENCED SAME PROBLEM. I CONTACTED TWO RIVERS FORD - MT JULIET, TN. FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT ASKED ME TO BRING CAR IN THEIR SERVICE. THEY CHECKED CAR, AND COMMUNICATED FORD MOTOR AND FORD LEGAL SERVICE WHETHER TO FULL FILL RECALL PROCEDURES FOR BRANDED TITLE CAR. AFTER 20 DAYS, THEY CALLED ME. THEIR DECISION IS NOT TO FULFILL RECALL. THEY SAID FORD WARRANTIES NOT COVER BRANDED TITLE CARS. CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. AND MY CAR PROBLEM SEEMS PRIMARY RELATED TO RECALL ISSUE. I WAS TOLD 6 MONTHS AGO BY THE TIRE & LUBE PLACE BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP (THEY WORK WITH THE FORD DEALERSHIP) THAT IT LOOKED LIKE MY COOLANT TANK WAS POSSIBLY CRACKED, BUT WASN'T A BIG ISSUE SINCE IT STILL HELD "ENOUGH" ANTI-FREEZE. HOWEVER MY ENGINE LIGHT ENDED UP COMING ON LATER AND I FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS THE COOLANT SENSOR THAT WAS BAD. THIS IS ALREADY A RECALL WITH THE 2014 ESCAPE, BUT I KEEP GETTING TOLD THAT IS "IS NOT FOR MY VIN NUMBER!" ALSO, THE FUEL PUMP WAS BAD, SO I HAD TO REPLACE THAT AT THE EXACT SAME TIME. AND AGAIN, THAT IS ALREADY A RECALL AND I AM BEING TOLD "IT IS NOT FOR MY VIN NUMBER!"
THE TRANSMISSION HAS COMPLETELY GONE OUT AT ONLY 88,000 MILES WITH NO WARNING. IN OUR CASE IT WAS ON THE INTERSTATE IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. I WOULD CONSIDER IT AN UNFORTUNATE INSTANCE BUT WHEN GETTING QUOTES THE REPLACEMENT IS NEAR 6000 GRAND FOR A NEW TRANSMISSION WHICH IS A PROHIBITIVE AMOUNT FOR A FAIRLY NEW VEHICLE AND AN "AFFORDABLE" ONE AT THAT. AFTER DOING RESEARCH ONLINE THIS SEEMS TO BE A LARGE ISSUE WITH HUNDREDS OF POSTS FOUND THAT THEY HAVE THE EXACT SAME ISSUES AROUND THE EXACT SAME TIME. THEIR FORD ESCAPES TRANSMISSION GIVES OUT AROUND 75 TO 100K MILES. I BELIEVE THIS IS AN ISSUE BECAUSE THAT IS A VERY SHORT TIME FRAME FOR A TRANSMISSION TO COMPLETELY GIVE OUT THAT FORD IS REFUSING TO ACKNOWLEDGE EVEN THOUGH 100S IF NOT 1000S OF PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. THE ISSUE OF FAILING TRANSMISSIONS IS NOT ISOLATED TO A FEW INSTANCES, AND IN A MAJORITY OF CASES FAILS JUST AFTER (WITHIN 10 -20K MILES ) THE TRANSMISSION WARRANTY EXPIRES AND SEEMS TO BE A PATTERN.

IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE THAT THIS MANY FORD ESCAPES ARE ALL HAVING FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS IN SUCH A SHORT LIFESPAN. IT IS NOW SLEEPING AND JERKING WITH THE 2ND AND 3RD GEAR. DEALERSHIP IT WILL BE GOING OUT IN AT ANYTIME AND WILL COST 7500 TO REPLACE.

CALLED ANOTHER DEALER IN THE MIDWEST THAT SHOWED PARTS AVAILABILITY(6) ALL THOSE PUMPS ARE FOR ON-GOING REPAIRS IN SHOP AND NONE OF THEM ARE FOR SALE. THIS PUMP FAILURE IS DEADLY, DANGEROUS AND NOT BEING ADDRESS BY THE MANUFACTURER. PLUS EVEN TO REPAIR WITHIN 30 TO 45 DAYS I HAD TO USE A SALVAGE PART (I MAY HAVE BOUGHT THE ONLY ONE IN THE NATION) CALLED 12 SALVAGE YARDS AND THEY ARE OUT OF STOCK AS WELL.
