I HAVE A 2014 FORD ESCAPE SE ECO-BOOST, WHEN I START THE CAR, THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON. IT COMES ON AS SOON AS I START THE CAR, WHILE DRIVING AND SITTING STILL. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN FOR SERVICE, THERE IS NO GIVEN EXPLANATION FOR THE LIGHT TO BE ON. HOWEVER, I HAD THE 50,000 MILE CHECK POINT ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 15, 2017 AND THE ENGINE LIGHT IS STILL ON. WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED THE CAR, THE DASHBOARD WENT COMPLETELY OUT, I HAD THAT REPAIRED. NOW THE ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND STAYS ON. IS THIS A SIGN OF THE ENGINE GOING OUT, I AM PAYING FOR AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR REPAIRS. PLEASE HELP.
MY VEHICLE WAS OVERHEATED FOR ABOUT 3 TIMES AND I HAVE REPORTED IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP HERE IN AMERICAN SAMOA. I ALSO RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ABOUT THIS VEHICLE (SAFETY RECALL NOTICE 17S09). UP TO NOW, THE FORD DEALERSHIP HAVE NOT FIX THIS RECALL ISSUE AND I AND MY FAMILY ARE ALWAYS AT HIGHER DANGEROUS RISK DUE TO THIS UNRESOLVED RECALL. I HAVE PAID HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR FIXING THE PROBLEM VIA OTHER REPLACEMENT PARTS AND STILL NOTHING DIRECTLY TO THE RECALL PART. THE RECALL PART IS THE ENGINE COOLANT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIRE NEEDED TO BE CHANGED; HOWEVER, THE LUG NUTS WERE UNABLE TO BE REMOVED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (HARRISONBURG FORD, 3155 S. MAIN STREET, HARRISONBURG, VA 22801) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LUG NUTS SWELLED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS PARTIALLY REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT NO PRIOR COMPLAINTS FOR THAT FAILURE EXISTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 69,000. *BF *TR
1. SEAT BELT: DRIVER'S SEAT BELT UNEXPECTEDLY STOPPED WORKING AND WILL NOT CLICK OR LOCK INTO PLACE. THE SEAT BELT PRETENSIONERS TO NOT FUNCTION AS INTENDED WHEN NEEDED, INCREASE THE RISK OF OCCUPANT INJURY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. 2: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: INSTRUMENT PANEL: BLANK DISPLAY, OR OFTEN TIMES INRESPONSIVE. IF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IS INOPERATIVE, THE DRIVER OF MAY NOT BE WARNED OF SAFETY RELATED ISSUES SUCH AS LOW TIRE PRESSURES OR DISABLED AIR BAGS, INCREASING THE RISK OF PERSONAL INJURY OR A CRASH. 3.BODY: DOOR: THE BODY OF THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE DOOR IS OFTEN HARD TO CLOSE AND THE BODY OF THE DOOR OFTEN COMES OFF. A DOOR THAT OPENS UNEXPECTEDLY IN THE RESULT OF NOT BEING ABLE TO CLOSE, MAY RESULT IN AN UNRESTRAINED OCCUPANT FALLING FROM THE VEHICLE, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY.
DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE I RECEIVE A WARNING LIGHT "TRANSMISSION FAULT SERVICE NOW". I CONTACTED MT VIEW FORD AND WAS INFORMED THERE IS A WAIT ON TRANSMISSION WORK AND THE EARLIEST THEY COULD GET ME IN IS DECEMBER 20TH. BEING CONCERNED AND NOT WANTING TO WAIT A MONTH AND A HALF TO GET IT LOOKED AT. I CONTACTED A LOCAL TRANSMISSION SHOP THEY HOOKED MY VEHICLE UP AND RECEIVED (2) INTERNAL CODES 1721 & 1744. THE TRANSMISSION REQUIRES A COMPLETE REBUILD @ 83,000 MILES. I'VE READ OTHER CUSTOMERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THESE TRANSMISSIONS. PLEASE ISSUE A RECALL ON THE TRANSMISSIONS FOR THE 2014 FORD ESCAPE.
I'VE BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH MY CAR STALLING OUT. IT BEGAN ON 11/10/17 WHEN I STARTED THE CAR. I DROVE ABOUT 500 FEET PULLING UP TO A STOP SIGN AND THE CAR STALLED OUT BUT ALL ELECTRICAL STAYED ON (I.E. RADIO). I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND IT DROVE FINE FOR A WHILE. THE SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN LATER ON THE SAME DAY. THE FOLLOWING DAY IT HAPPENED IN THE SAME WAY AS I WAS PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT. I TURNED IT BACK ON AND IT DROVE WELL FOR A WHILE. LATER THAT EVENING IT HAPPENED AGAIN ALSO PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT. I DID NOT DRIVE THE CAR AGAIN TILL THE FOLLOWING MORNING. THE CAR DROVE WELL FOR 2 DAYS. UNTIL TODAY 11/15/17. IT TURNED ON IN THE MORNING. I GOT TO MY DESTINATION. PARKED THE CAR. CAME BACK ABOUT A HALF HOUR LATER AND I WAS PULLING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT ONLY DRIVING ABOUT 500 FEET WHEN THE CAR STALLED OUT AGAIN. I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON IT DROVE TO MY NEXT DESTINATION ABOUT 40 MINUTES AWAY. IT DID NOT FEEL AS IF IT WAS RUNNING AS SMOOTHLY AS USUAL. I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR AS I LIVE IN A CITY AND TAKE HIGHWAYS EVERYWHERE. I WOULD HATE FOR MY CAR TO STALL OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY AND CAUSE MYSELF AND OTHERS TO GET IMMENSELY HURT.
THE PUMP WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION WENT BAD AND THEREFOR THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED
IN 3 DAYS MY CAR HAD DIED 6 TIMES. FIRST TIME I THOUGHT MAYBE I HAD LEFT SOMETHING ON AND DRAINED THE BATTERY. I HAD SOMEONE AT WORK JUMP ME, AND I WENT ON MY WAY. THE FOLLOWING 5 TIMES, I HAD TO REPEATEDLY PUSH THE START BUTTON WHILE TRYING TO PUSH DOWN ON THE BREAK. EVENTUALLY THE CAR STARTS BUT ALL OF MY ELECTRONICS GO CRAZY. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TODAY, DROVE 20 MILES TO GET THERE, TURNED THE CAR OFF, WHEN THEY TRIED TO MOVE IT, IT WOULDN'T START. I SHOWED THEM HOW YOU HAVE TO KEEP PUSHING THE BUTTON WHILE EVERYTHING ELECTRICAL GOES CRAZY. DEALERSHIP BLAMING THE BATTERY, BUT WHAT IS CAUSING THE BATTERY TO DRAIN SO FAST? MY CONCERN IS THAT ALL THE ELECTRONICS GO CRAZY AND IT DECIDES TO DIE WHENEVER IT WANTS. HOPE I AM NOT DRIVING WITH MY TWO SMALL CHILDREN!!!! BASED ON WHAT I AM READING ONLINE, I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON HAVING THIS ISSUE!
ON NOVEMBER 6, 2017, I ENTERED MY VEHICLE AFTER SHOPPING FOR GROCERIES AT A NEARBY MARKET AND AFTER LOADING THE CAR AND SECURING MY SAFETY BELT; I PLACED THE CAR INTO REVERSE. HOWEVER, WHEN I PRESSED ON THE GAS MY CAR LURCHED FORWARD, CAUSING ME TO ALMOST CRASH INTO THE CAR PARKED IN FRONT OF ME, I THEN HIT THE BRAKE AND PLACED THE VEHICLE INTO PARK. UPON SHIFTING BACK INTO PARK THE CAR WOULD NO LONGER SHIFT INTO ANY OTHER GEAR LEAVING ME STRANDED.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated his daughter-in-law received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V643000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages). The contact stated she took the vehicle to the local dealer and had the recall remedy performed. The contact stated that the rear passenger’s side door opened independently. The contact called the local dealer and was informed to take the vehicle to a closer dealer in his area. The contact took the vehicle to a second local dealer; Champion Ford Edinboro (11941 Edinboro Rd, Edinboro, PA 16412: (814) 734-1616), where it was diagnosed with needing the rear passenger’s side door latch to be replaced; however, the dealer had not received authorization from manufacturer to service the vehicle under NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V331000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure and informed the contact that the recall repair had been completed back in 2017. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, SMOKE APPEARED UNDER THE HOOD. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT BURST INTO FLAMES WITHOUT WARNING. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER (FLAMMER FORD, 3335 COMMERCIAL WAY, SPRING HILL, FL 34606). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000. THE CONSUMER STATED THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED 11,000 FOR THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER DECLINED. THE CONSUMER REQUESTED TO BE PROVIDED A VEHICLE OF THE SAME MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR. *JS *LN *CN
MY ENGINE LIGHT COME ON I WENT TO THE AUTOZONE TO PUT IN THE MACHINE I AM HAVING PROBLEM WHIT THE TURBO. AND WHEN I LEAVE MY CAR DOOR OPEN TO CLEAN MY CAR MY ENGINE DIE COMPLETELY IT DOES THIS NUMERO TIME. I AM SINGLE MOM I WORK VERY HARD I PAY MY CAR NOTE ON TIME EVERY MONTH KNOW IS GETTING TO THE POINT THAT HOW I WILL FIX MY CAR I CANT EVEN AFFORD IT ALL I AM THINKING ABOUT THE CAR NOTE OR FIX THE CAR, PLEASE FORD HELP.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated while operating the vehicle, the "Coolant Low" message was displayed. Upon inspection, the contact discovered that the coolant reservoir was extremely low, but no visible evidence of a coolant leak was present. The contact added coolant to the reservoir, but the failure continued to occur. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 60,000.
SUMMARY: IN OCTOBER 2018 I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR RECALL 17S09/NHTSA17V-209 TO HAVE THE SENSORS PUT ON. THEN MARCH 2018 I TOOK VERHICLE IN FOR PARTS TO REPAIR THE LEAK.. HOWEVER AFTER THE PARTS WERE PUT ON THE VEHICLE HAD TO GO BACK BECAUSE THE COOLANT LIGHT CAME ON ABOUT LATE MAY. THE DEALERSHIP WAS VERY NICE AT LOOKING AT AND RESOLVING THE PROBLEM. THEN IN JUNE THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND THE COOLANT WAS LOW. DEALER CHECK. THEY DISCOVERED THE COOLANT LEAKING BACK INTO THE ENGINE. THIS WAS NOT A PROBLEM UNTIL THIS RECALL WAS DONE. I ATTEMPTED TO ESCALATE THIS THROUGH FORD CARES AND OBVIOUSLY THEY DON'T. THE ONLY RESPONSE I HAVE IS - THIS IS NOT RELATED TO THE RECALL. PLUS THEY CONTINUED TO TELL ME I DO NOT HAVE ANY WARRANTY LEFT ON THIS VEHICLE WHICH I AM WELL OF AWARE OF. THE RECALL SPECIFCALLY STATES THE LEAK WILL CAUSE A CRACK IN THE CYLYINDERS. THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED. WE COMPLIED WITH EVERYTHING FORD ASKED OF US REGARDING THIS RECALL.
IN 2016, I HAD THE COOLANT SYSTEM REPAIRED/REPLACED DUE TO A LEAK. THIS WAS PRIOR TO THE RECALL. AFTER RECALL NOTICE WAS SENT I ATTEMPTED TO HAVE IT ADDRESSED TWICE AND TOLD BOTH TIMES THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. ON 10/26/17 I GOT A NOTICE THAT MY ENGINE WAS ABOUT TO OVERHEAT AND FOUND THAT THE COOLANT TANK WAS EMPTY. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR 10/30/2017. ON 10/29/17 I FILLED THE COOLANT TANK BEFORE DRIVING TO CHURCH AND AFTER 15-20 MILES RECEIVED AN ENGINE FAIL NOTICE, SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE ENGINE AND CAR WOULD NOT RESTART. COOLANT TANK WAS ALREADY EMPTY. CAR WAS TOWED TO BERGLUND FORD IN BEDFORD, VIRGINIA. TODAY IS 11/3/2017, NO DIAGNOSIS MADE, NO IDEA WHAT THE CAUSE OF ENGINE FAILURE IS AND WE WERE TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT THEY HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF THE RECALL REPORTING THIS TYPE OF INCIDENT. MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT FORD MOTOR HAS BEEN FRUITLESS BECAUSE THE DEALER IS NOT COMMUNICATING WITH THEM.

THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURNED THE ENGINE OFF FOR A COUPLE OF HOURS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HEMBROOKE FORD (1900 HAMNER AVE, NORCO, CA 92860, PHONE NUMBER: (877) 384-5006) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS NO LEAK IN THE COOLING LINE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE HEMBROOKE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED BECAUSE THE DEALER WANTED TO CHARGE FOR A SECOND DIAGNOSTIC FEE. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT OFFER ASSISTANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE CAR ON A 2 LANE HIGHWAY, GOING STRAIGHT, AT HIGHWAY SPEED ( MY DAUGHTER GOTTEN ABOUT 3 MILES FROM HOME ) AND ENGINE FAULT LIGHT CAME ON, CAR SPUTTERED, SERVICE NOW LIGHT CAME ON AND IMMEDIATELY SMOKE STARTED TO COME INTO THE CAR. SHE PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY AND RAN FROM CAR AND CALLED 911 THE CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE UNDER HOOD. THE FIRE WAS VERY LARGE AND TOTALED CAR. TIME FROM ENGINE FAULT LIGHT TO FIRE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30 SECONDS TO 45 SECONDS. THAT PART IS AN ESTIMATE. NOTIFIED FORD MOTOR CORP AND THEY GAVE ME A CLAIM NUMBER. CURRENTLY INSURANCE COMPANY HAS THE CAR BUT WILL PROBABLY MAKE A CLAIM TO FORD. IT WAS IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS BEFORE BECAUSE IT HAD THE SAME KIND OF SPUTTER. THEY ALSO WORKED ON 4 RECALLS AT THIS TIME. WHEN TALKING TO FMC, THE LADY STATED THAT FOR SOME REASON ONE RECALL IS STILL OPEN ALTHOUGH IT SHOWED THAT THE DEALERSHIP HAD DONE IT. SHE WASN'T SURE WHY THEY DIDN'T CLOSE IT.
I BROKE DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY WITH SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I HAD IT TOWED TO GO AUTOMOTIVE TO ENSURE IT WAS NOT BECAUSE OF A FAULTY OIL CHANGE (I HAD HAD AN OIL CHANGE 3 DAYS EARLIER). IT WAS DETERMINED THAT IT WAS NOT DUE TO ANY PART OF THE OIL CHANGE, BUT THAT IT WAS DUE TO A RECALL FORD RELEASED IN APRIL 2017. PARTS HAVE STILL NOT BEEN RECEIVED AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. THE AUTOMOTIVE SHOP DROVE THE CAR UP AND DOWN THE ROAD SEVERAL TIMES AND THOUGHT IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE TO FORD (ABOUT 3 MILES AWAY) TO DISCUSS THE RECALL. MY MOM WAS TAKING THE CAR WHILE MY DAD FOLLOWED BEHIND HER. SHE ONLY DROVE CITY ROADS, NO HIGHWAYS. LESS THAN A QUARTER MILE FROM THE FORD LOT, THE CAR STARTED TO SMOKE LITTLE, LIGHT COLORED WISPS. WHEN MY MOM ARRIVED AT FORD AND PARKED IT BECAME HEAVIER (BUT STILL LIGHT COLORED) SMOKE, AND WHEN SHE WENT IN TO GET AN ASSOCIATE THEY GOT OUTSIDE AND IT WAS ON FIRE. IT TOOK THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO PUT THE FLAMES OUT.
WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE FAULT CAME ON AND LOST POWER. PULLED TO SIDE OF ROAD AND BEGAN TO SEE SMOKE FROM ENGINE. FIRST THOUGHT WAS OVERHEATING OR SIMILAR. WITHIN MINUTES NOTICED FLAMES FROM UNDER HOOD NEAR WINDSHIELD. GOT OUT OF CAR AND WITHIN LESS THAN 5 MINUTES CAR WAS FULLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THIS WAS AN OBVIOUS ENGINE ISSUE AND NOT A MAINTAINANCE ISSUE. THIS WAS A FLEET VEHICLE PROPERLY MAINTAINED UNTIL I PURCHASED IT FROM THAT EMPLOYER 1 YEAR PRIOR.
RECALL 14S17 VEHICLE HAS HESITATED AND STALLED SEVERAL TIMES. IT HAS STALLED TWICE AFTER BEING PUT IN REVERSE. EVENTUALLY CAR STARTED. THERE HAVE ALSO BEEN SEVERAL INSTANCES WHILE DRIVING WHERE THE VEHICLE SEEMS TO SPUTTER AND HESITATE BUT WILL CONTINUE TO DRIVE. YESTERDAY IT STALLED AFTER BEING STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT. VEHICLE SUDDENLY LOST POWER AFTER ACCELERATION AND WOULD NOT RESTART. VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT MECHANIC'S SHOP AND MECHANIC IS REPORTING AN ERROR CODE OF "POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE FAIL". THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE! THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE REPAIRED UNDER RECALL 14S17 AS IT IS A DOCUMENTED ISSUE WITH 2014 FORD ESCAPE VEHICLES.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY 1 1/2 MILES FROM MY HOME WHEN THE ENGINE CUT OUT. I WAS ABLE TO DRIFT TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND COME TO A STOP. I REMAINED IN THE CAR AND SMELLED BURNING. THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. AFTER A FEW MINUTES THE SMOKE STOPPED. THERE WERE NO TROUBLE/WARNING LIGHTS PRIOR TO THE ENGINE FAILURE. I ARRANGED TO BE TOWED TO OUR REGULAR MECHANIC. HE INFORMED ME THAT HE THOUGHT I SHOULD GET THE VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALERSHIP, AS THERE HAD BEEN A FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THERE WAS A HIGH PROBABILITY THAT IT WAS RELATED TO A FORD RECALL 17S09. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A NEARBY FORD DEALERSHIP AND A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED. THE SERVICE MANAGER ALSO SUSPECTED THAT IT WAS PART OF THE ISSUE ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECALL. HE OPENED A FORD "HOTLINE" CASE. A DAY OR SO LATER THE SERVICE MANAGER CALLED AND SAID THAT THEY DETERMINED THAT IT WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL BECAUSE THE COOLANT SYSTEM HAD PASSED THEIR PRESSURE TEST AND THERE HAD NOT BEEN A COOLANT LEAK. HE ALSO DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A CRACKED HEAD AND CRACKED MANIFOLD, AND THAT THE VEHICLE HAD LOST OIL THROUGH THE CRACKED HEAD. WHEN I INQUIRED AS TO WHY THE HEAD WOULD CRACK WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS REGULAR OIL CHANGES (THE MOST RECENT JUST 20 DAYS PRIOR) AND THE COOLANT SYSTEM WAS FULL HE DIDN'T HAVE AN ANSWER. AT THAT TIME HE SAID THE ENGINE WOULD COST CLOSE TO $5,000 TO REPAIR, BUT THAT HE COULDN'T GUARANTEE THAT IT WOULDN'T HAVE "OTHER ISSUES" RELATED TO THE DAMAGES IDENTIFIED. I FIRST FAILED A STATE INSPECTION (9/14/17) DUE TO A SMALL EVAP LEAK. I FIRST WENT TO A LOCAL BUSINESS TO GET THAT AND AT THE SAME TIME, THE VEHICLE WOULD CUT OFF AS I WAS DRIVING. THE LOCAL BUSINESS CLAIMED TO HAVE FIXED THE EVAP LEAK (AFTER WAITING A WEEK FOR THE PART (10/13/17), BUT HAD NO IDEA ABOUT THE VEHICLE STALLING. I THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALERSHIP (10/19/17), WHERE IT WAS FIRST TAKEN IN FOR A WEEK ONLY TO HAVE THE SAME REPAIR DONE WITH FORD TELLING ME THE FIRST REPAIR USED A FAULTY PART. DRIVING HOME (10/24/17), THE VEHICLE DID NOT STALL, BUT STILL SHOWED DRIVING ISSUES. THE VEHICLE THEN STALLED WHILE IN PARK IDLE. I RETURNED TO THE FORD DEALER (10/27/17) AND FOR ANOTHER WEEK, REPAIRS WERE MADE OR LOOKED UP BY A HELP LINE INDICATING THAT EVEN FORD WASN'T SURE OF THE PROBLEM. I GOT THE VEHICLE BACK AGAIN ANOTHER WEEK LATER (11/6/17) AND THE NEXT MORNING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME BACK ON. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT STALLED, BUT IT HAS NOT RUN THE SAME SINCE SEPTEMBER. I DO NOT HAVE FULL CONFIDENCE IN THE VEHICLE, BUT CAN'T AFFORD TO KEEP PLAYING GUESS WHAT'S WRONG WITH FORD.

INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER IS INOPERATIVE. BLANK MULTIFUNCTIONAL DISPLAY. THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL PLACED FOR THIS ISSUE FOR SAFETY CONCERNS ON VEHICLES MANUFACTURED AT THE SAME PLANT BETWEEN MAY 19, 2014 TO FEBRUARY 6, 2015. THE NUMBER FOR THE RECALL IS 15C03. MY VEHICLE ISN'T INCLUDED. MY VEHICLE IS FROM THE SAME MANUFACTURING PLANT, BUT WITH THE DATE OF MARCH 2014. MY CAR HOWEVER DOES HAVE A RECALL OF THE COOLANT SYSTEM, POSSIBLE OVERHEATED WITH FIRE HAS BEEN REPORTED. I AM WAITING FOR PARTS. I CONSIDER THIS TO BE A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD AND SINCE I DRIVE MY CAR EVERYDAY I AM AT RISK BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP HASN'T RESOLVED THE RECALL/ DEFECT.
WITH ABSOLUTELY NO NOTICE, CAR DASHBOARD WARNS ENGINE HAS HIGH TEMP AND TO PULL OVER SAFELY! I PULLED INTO THE NEAREST PARKING LOT AND POPPED THE HOOD TO FIND THE CAR WAS OVERHEATING! THE COOLANT RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY- AND I NOTICED A SLOW DRIP NEAR MY TIRE. THERE WAS A VERY MINIMAL AMOUNT OF SMOKE. I CALLED A FRIEND TO BRING COOLANT AND AFTER ALLOWING THE SYSTEM TO COOL DOWN, ADDED ENOUGH TO GET ME HOME. NOT EVEN THREE MILES AWAY, AND IT'S ALREADY EMPTY AGAIN. I CALLED FORD AND THEY SAID THERE IS A RECALL SPECIFIC TO THIS PROBLEM ON 2013'S BUT DOES NOT APPLY TO MY VEHICLE. THIS NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED ASAP BEFORE MORE FORDS OVERHEAT AND POTENTIALLY CATCH ON FIRE!! THERE ARE BARELY 35,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING 35 AND UNDER ON CITY STREETS FOR NOT EVEN 15 MINUTES WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
DRIVING MY 2014 ESCAPE TO WORK I WAS ON A 35 MPH STREET, AN ALERT WARNING CAME ON TELLING ME THE ENGINE WAS HOT AND TO SAFELY STOP VEHICLE. MY TEMPERATURE GAUGE NEEDLE WAS AT THE HOT. I PULLED OVER AND IT SLOWLY WENT BACK DOWN ENOUGH WHERE I GOT TO MY DESTINATION A MILE AWAY. WHEN CHECKED, MY COOLANT OVERFLOW WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY. I HAD SOMEONE TAKE ME TO PURCHASE THE CORRECT COOLANT AND REPLACED IT BEFORE STARTING THE VEHICLE. WHEN I RETURNED HOME AND CHECKED THE LEVEL, THE COOLANT WAS AGAIN LOW. THE ENGINE WAS EXTREMELY HOT TO THE TOUCH, INCLUDING THE HANDLE TO LATCH OPEN THE HOOD. I REMEMBERED A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE, 17S09/ NHTSA RECALL 17V-209, AND WAS WAITING FOR THE SECOND RECALL LETTER WHEN THE PARTS WERE GOING TO BE AVAILABLE FOR REPAIRS. IT STATED IF THE VEHICLE LEAKED COOLANT OR BECAME HOT, IT COULD CAUSE POSSIBLE OIL LEAK AND CRACK IN THE CYLINDER HEAD, AND EVEN FIRE! I CALLED BRUCE TITUS FORD IN PORT ORCHARD WASHINGTON AND THE SERVICE GUY TOLD ME NOT TO DRIVE IT AND IT WAS TOWED TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THEY DID TESTS AND FOUND THAT THAT ALERT MESSAGE OF VEHICLE GETTING HOT, ETC SHOWED BUT THEY DID A PRESSURE TEST AND SO ON AND COULD NOT SEE WHERE THE COOLANT WAS GOING. THEY TOLD ME THERE WERE STILL NO PARTS AVAILABLE FOR THE, (ENHANCEMENT TO THE COOLANT PROBLEM), NOT THE FIX! APPARENTLY THE RECALL SAYS THE ENHANCEMENT PART IS A SENSOR WHICH TELLS ME THE COOLANT IS GETTING LOW. SO WITHOUT IT BEING FIXED, I WAS TOLD TO COME GET THE VEHICLE AND KEEP REFILLING AS NEEDED! I WAS TOLD THEY COULD REPLACE THE COOLANT OVERFLOW BOTTLE BUT IT WAS NOT ONLY ON BACK ORDER, BUT WOULD COST ME $400! COOLANT IS LEAKING AT WORK AND IN DRIVEWAYS AND A HAZARD TO MINE AND OTHERS PETS! I'VE SPENT $40 ON COOLANT SO FAR AND CANT KEEP DOING THIS! I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO. ONLY 52,000 MILES, MY ONLY TRANSPORTATION, AND I'M STILL PAYING OUT $458 PAYMENTS AND INSURANCE!

ON FEBRUARY 2017 I BROUGHT A 2014 FORD ESCAPE AT ABOUT 59 K MILES AND NOW IT HAS ABOUT 70K MILES ON IT. I WAS TOTALLY CLUELESS AS TO HOW UNSAFE THIS CAR WAS AND ALL OF THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS/ISSUES THAT CONSUMERS ARE HAVING WITH THIS CAR. ON 09/22/2017, THIS CAR TOTALLY BROKE DOWN. THIS CAR IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS I ALMOST GOT INTO AN ACCIDENT AS THE CAR WITHOUT MADE A LOUD NOISE, AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING JUST STOPPED/SHUT DOWN IN TRAFFIC. NONE OF THE SAFETY INDICATOR ALERTS WORKED IN THIS CAR SO I WAS CLUELESS THAT THE CARD HAD ANY ISSUES. I ONLY OWNED THIS CAR FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS AT THE TIME AND IT WAS CLEARLY OUT OF WARRANTY. I HAD THE CAR TOWED ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT IT IS THE TRANSMISSION, BAD BATTERY, ABS ISSUES AND POSSIBLY AN ALTERNATOR. I WAS ALSO ADVISED THAT IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUES AND POSSIBLE A RECALL THAT IS WHY NO WARNINGS LIGHTS CAME ON TO LET ME KNOW IT WAS A PROBLEM. I REACHED OUT TO FORD WHO BASICALLY SAID SORRY WE DON'T CARE HAVE A NICE DAY. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE AND SHOULD BE TAKEN OFF OF THE MARKET UNTIL FORD CAN GET THIS IN ORDER. COMPLETE TRANSMISSION AT JUST OVER 100,000 MILES ON A 2014 (ONLY 3 YEARS) OLD IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AND COULD CREATE UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITIONS. I WAS FORTUNATE TO BE ABLE TO COAST TO THE SHOULDER.
I PARKED MY CAR AT A RESTAURANT, COUPLE HOURS LATER IT WOULDN'T START BECAUSE IT SAID CAR IN GEAR ON THE DASHBOARD. EVEN IF IT WAS IN PARK THE CAR SAID STILL IN GEAR CAN'T START. I HAD TO TOW IT TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIPS AND THEY SAID THE SHIFTER CABLE WAS BROKEN AFTER 3 DAYS. EVEN UNDER 49,000 MILES THEY MENTIONED IT WASN'T COVERED BY THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY SO I HAD TO PAY $940.60 FOR THE PARTS AND LABOR OUT OF POCKET.

THE MANUFACTURER'S AND NHTSA'S RECALL NUMBER IS 17S09. THIS IS A CRITICAL SAFETY ISSUE, AS VEHICLE FIRE'S ARE LIKELY TO RESULT IN INJURY AND OR DEATH. AS OF AUGUST 16, 2017, FORD HAS NOT MADE AVAILABLE ANY REMEDY WHATSOEVER FOR THIS ISSUE; FORD HAS FAILED TO TIMELY CORRECT THE PROBLEM. MOREOVER, FORD'S PROPOSED REMEDY, WHICH AGAIN IS NOT AVAILABLE 5 MONTHS AFTER ITS IDENTIFYING THE ISSUE, IS A COOLANT LEVEL SENSOR, WHICH DOES NOT ADDRESS AT ALL THE UNDERLYING ISSUE OF LEAKING COOLANT, AND THUS DOES NOTHING TO PREVENT THE RESULTANT VEHICLE/UNDERHOOD FIRES.
I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW IN JULY 2013. IT WAS ONE OF THE FIRST 2014 ESCAPE MODELS MADE. AFTER A YEAR OF OWNING IT (2014), I TURNED THE VEHICLE ON ONE MORNING AND I RECEIVED AN ERROR MESSAGE STATING "ENGINE FAULT - SERVICE NOW". I PROCEEDED TO TURN THE CAR OFF, THEN BACK ON, AND THE MESSAGE WAS GONE. WHEN I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE, I MENTIONED WHAT HAPPENED AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING UNLESS THE MESSAGE WAS STILL ON THERE. OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF YEARS (2015-2016), I WOULD GET THE MESSAGE RANDOMLY, BUT IT WOULD GO AWAY AFTER I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE DRIVING SEEMED TO BE THE SAME, SO IT DIDN'T CAUSE TOO MUCH CONCERN. IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS (2017), I HAVE NOTICED THE MESSAGE RETURNING "ENGINE FAULT - SERVICE NOW." WHEN I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR A RECALL, I MENTIONED THE ERROR AGAIN AND THEY WERE ABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT IT WAS - THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE THE WIRE SPLICE. WHAT CONCERNS ME IS THAT OTHER FORD ESCAPES HAVE BEEN RECALLED WITH THIS PROBLEM, AND I'VE BEEN DRIVING AROUND WITH A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN 2013.
