WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY STREET THE CAR STALLED AND WOULD NOT TURN OVER TO RESTART. OTHER VEHICLES HAD TO SWERVE TO AVOID COLLISION WHILE IT STALLED AND PUSHED TO A SAFE LOCATION. ONCE TAKEN TO THE MECHANIC IT WAS IDENTIFIED AS THE FUEL PUMP BEING THE PROBLEM. EVEN THOUGH MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT IDENTIFIED IN THE RECALL OF OTHER 2014 FORD ESCAPE IT SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO EXPANDING THE RECALL DUE TO THE POSSIBILITY OF DANGER TO PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLES.
DELAY IN GETTING RECALL TAKEN CARE OF. NOTIFIED A YEAR AGO OF RECALL, FINALLY RECEIVED LETTER IN MAY THAT PARTS WERE AVAILABLE, SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT FOR 7/19/2017. DEALER CANCELED THE APPOINTMENT 2 DAYS BEFORE SAYING PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. IT IS NOW 1 MONTH LATER AND THE DEALER HASN'T EVEN ORDERED THE PARTS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, A HIGH TEMPERATURE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE COOLANT IN THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING. THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC ADDED COOLANT AND THE LIGHT TURNED OFF. WHILE DRIVING HOME, THE CONTACT NOTICED LOW COOLANT LEVEL IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH PREMIER FORD (2120 US-45, COLUMBUS, MS 39705) WHO STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING), AND THE CONTACT WOULD NEED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED; HOWEVER, THEY WOULD MAKE A NOTE OF THE INCIDENT AND INFORM NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,100.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V209000 (Engine and Engine Cooling). The contact was informed by the dealer that a coolant sensor would be placed inside the vehicle to remedy the recall. Since the recall, the coolant warning light would frequently appear on the instrument panel. The contact was then informed by the dealer to frequently replenish the engine coolant, no further inspection on the vehicle was performed. The contact then took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where he was informed that coolant had leaked into the oil. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and the contact was informed that he may be reimbursed for the cost of repair if the failure led to a recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17S09000 (ENGINE). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 112,000.

THE COOLANT TANK WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT COMPLETED. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE REMEDY WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE LOANER VEHICLES DUE TO NHTSA NOT AUTHORIZING THEM TO DO SO. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, IT STALLED ONCE WHILE I WAS PULLING IN TO A PARKING SPACE. MY FOOD WAS ON THE BRAKE AT THAT TIME. THERE WAS PLENTY OF GAS IN THE TANK. THERE WERE NO ALERT LIGHTS ON PRIOR TO STALLING. TODAY, WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, THE VEHICLE STALLED AS I HAD MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR. AGAIN, THERE WAS PLENTY OF GASS IN THE VEHICLE. I WAS SAFELY ABLE TO PULL OVER. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO START AGAIN WITHOUT DIFFICULTY AND NO PROBLEMS FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE DRIVE HOME.
MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR THE ENGINE OVER HEATING. I HAVE HAD TO GET IT TOWED TWICE NOW BECAUSE IT CONTINUES TO OVER HEAT DUE TO A LACK OF COOLANT (IT DISAPPEARS FOR SOME REASON AND NO ONE KNOW WHERE IT GOES). I THEN HAVE TO GET A RENTAL CAR FOR THE WEEK OR HOWEVER LONG IT TAKES THEM TO FIX IT. FORD DOES NOT HAVE A PLAN TO FIX THE ISSUE INSTEAD THEY WILL INSTALL A SENSOR TO HELP MONITOR THE COOLANT LEVEL AND WARN ME BEFORE THE CAR OVERHEATS. THIS JUST TRANSFER THE BURDEN ONTO ME TO CONTINUOUSLY ADD COOLANT TO A NEW CAR THAT SHOULDN'T NEED IT HAD IT BEEN MADE CORRECTLY. AT THIS POINT I DON'T EVEN WANT THE CAR ANYMORE BECAUSE IT IS UNSAFE AND A HUGE INCONVENIENCE. THIS HAPPENS WHILE I AM DRIVING AND IT WARNS ME TO IMMEDIATELY PULL OVER.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIR. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO INCLUDED IN A MANUFACTURER CAMPAIGN FOR THE "SYNC WITH MY FORD, MY LINCOLN" TOUCH CAMPAIGN, WHICH COVERED ACCESSORY PROTOCOL INTERFACE MODULE APIM. THE CONTACT WAS NOT EXPERIENCING A FAILURE AND WAS WAITING FOR A RESPONSE FROM THE MANUFACTURER CONCERNING THE TWO RECALLS AND THE SERVICE CAMPAIGN. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
VEHICLE SUDDENLY HESITATES AND STALLS WHILE DRIVING IT CREATING A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.
MY FORD ESCAPE HAS BEEN HAVING OVERHEATING ISSUES FOR MONTHS. WHEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER THEY CLAIMED TO HAVE FIXED IT ONLY TO HAVE MADE IT WORSE AS THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN DUE TO OVERHEATING. THERE IS A RECALL REGARDING THIS EXACT ISSUE AND THEIR REPAIR IS A SENSOR TO WARN OF LOW COOLANT. THAT'S RIDICULOUS!!! THE PROBLEM LIES WITH THE COOLANT LEAKING. WHERE IS THE ACTUAL FIX FOR THAT??? A WARNING LIGHT DOESN'T FIX THE MANUFACTURING ISSUE OF LEAKING COOLANT. A 3 YEAR OLD CAR SHOULDN'T HAVE LEAKING PROBLEMS!!! WHILE IN MOTION, THE OVERHEATING SENSORS TURN ON AND THE CAR SHUTS OFF MAKING FOR A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. FORD PRETENDED THEY HAD NO IDEA ABOUT AN OVERHEATING ISSUE AND CHARGED ME $800 TO FIX IT AND YET, IT ACTUALLY FIXED NOTHING!!! STILL OVERHEATING, AND I'M STILL OUT $800 AND NO RESOLUTION IN SIGHT.

TURNED AC ON ,BANG! BANG! TURN IT OFF/ I KNEW WHAT HAPPEN. THE 1ST. TIME THEY HAD TO REPLACE FAN BLOWER / IT VIBRATES LOUDER THAN OUR MOTOR ,NOWITS DOING IT AGAIN.I GOT THE BACK HALF OF MOUSE VACCUM OUT FROM THE CABIN COMPARTMENT. MY ? HOW ARE THEY GETTING IN THERE. I'LL SHOW YOU WHAT I FOUND AN EXPLAIN. IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT FORD DIDN'T PUT A SCREEN OVER BLOWER ENTRANCE,.SO I PUT ONE, I RUN MY FAN ON LOW.
THE ELECTRONIC SCREEN IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL HAS FAILED. FORD RECALLED THIS MODEL UNDER SAFETY RECALL NUMBER "15V406000". HOWEVER, THE RECALL MAKE DATE STOPPED ONE MONTH BEFORE MY CAR MAKE DATE. MY VEHICLE HAS A BLANK SCREEN BUT IS CURRENTLY NOT COVERED. THE SCREEN STOPPED WORKING IN JULY, 2017 WITH 53000 MILES ON THE CAR. I WAS GIVEN AN ESTIMATE OF $750.00 TO REPAIR.

ON EACH COLD START, IN PARK, HEAVY PUFF OF BLUE SMOKE EMITS FROM EXHAUST. VEHICLE HAS 66,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN REGULARLY AND PROFESSIONALLY MAINTAINED. DEALER SERVICE ADVISER STATES INTERNAL OIL LEAK ONTO ENGINE HEAD, LIKELY REQUIRING ENGINE REPLACEMENT. I WOULD LIKE NHTSA TO INVESTIGATE TO EXPAND MODELS WITHIN CURRENT CAMPAIGN NUMBER 17V209000 AND/OR RESEARCH ADDITIONAL ISSUE WITH LEAKS IN CERTAIN FORD ENGINES. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED NOTICE FROM FORD MOTOR COMPANY THAT MY VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN CAMPAIGN NUMBER 17V209000, AND A VIN SEARCH ON THE NHTSA SITE CONFIRMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SUBJECT TO SUCH RECALL; HOWEVER, I BELIEVE IT IS LIKELY THAT MY VEHICLE IS IN THE SAME DANGER AS THOSE LISTED IN THE ABOVE-REFERENCED NHTSA RECALL EITHER FOR THE REASONS STATED IN THE RECALL OR ADDITIONAL REASONS. A FAULT IN THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) SYSTEM RESULTED IN AN IMMEDIATE LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST WITHOUT WARNING TO THE DRIVER. THIS UNEXPECTEDLY INCREASED THE STEERING EFFORT FORCE NECESSARY TO STEER THE VEHICLE AT LOWER VEHICLE SPEEDS, WHICH INCREASED THE RISK OF A CRASH CAUSING INJURY AND/OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY.
I HAVE THE TITANIUM FORD ESCAPE AND MY SUNROOF IS LEAKING ALL OVER. I JUST FINANCED THE CAR 2 MONTHS AGO AND HAVE TAKEN IT TO TWO DIFFERENT PLACES AND THEY CANNOT FIND THE ISSUE. IT LEAKS SO MUCH THAT THAT WATER DRIPS ON ME WHEN IT RAINS. I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS AND EVEN SOME THAT HAVE RECALLS BUT WHEN I CALLED FORD TODAY THEY STATED THAT MY PARTICULAR MODEL DOES NOT HAVE A RECALL. WHEN I GOOGLED IT MANY PEOPLE HAVE ALSO HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND EDMUNDS.COM STATES THAT OVER 2,000 CARS DO HAVE A RECALL FOR IT. THE SEAL ON THE SUNROOF IS NOT THE ISSUE BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN CHECKED. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY ONLY SOME OF THE MODELS HAVE RECALLS AND SOME DO NOT IF WE ARE ALL HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.
WHILE PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC ON JULY 3, 2017, MOVING AT 30 MPH, THE ENGINE SUDDENLY LOST ALL POWER AND THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTED CAUSING THE CAR TO QUICKLY DECELERATE NEARLY CAUSING A REAR END COLLISION. THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT INDICATED AN ENGINE FAULT REQUIRING IMMEDIATE SERVICE. THE ENGINE CONTINUED RUNNING BUT WITH HARDLY ANY ACCELERATION THEN LOSS OF POWER AND BUCKING. I PULLED TO SHOULDER AND WAS ABLE TO LIMP HOME ABOUT A MILE WITH ENGINE RUNNING ERRATICALLY ALL THE WAY. CALLED AAA AND HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO HAMMONASSET FORD IN MADISON CT FOR SERVICE ON JULY 4 2017. AWAITING RESPONSE FROM THEM AT THIS TIME.

INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PANEL HAS COMPLETELY GONE OUT. I SAW WHERE A RECALL WAS ISSUED ON SOME BUT APPARENTLY NOT MINE. CAR ONLY HAD 30,000 MILES ON IT WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
WHEN I HAVE AN OIL CHANGE, THE DEALER (2 OF THEM) NOTIFY ME THAT I HAVE A LEAK IN MY REAR SHOCK ABSORBERS. I HAVE REPLACED THE PASSENGER SIDE TWICE AND NOW THEY TELL ME MY DRIVERS SIDE IS LEAKING. THE VEHICLE JUST WENT OUT OF WARRANTY, BUT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE REAR SHOCKS. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCE A REAR SHOCK LEAK AS LONG AS I HAVE OWNED A VEHICLE. NOW, BASICALLY, EVERY TIME I HAVE AN OIL CHANGE AND CHECK, THEY INFORM ME OF A LEAKAGE.

THE DRIVER NOTICED FLAMES COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE BURST INTO FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO WATERFORD TOWING LOT. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V209000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING THE CAR LESS THAN 10 MINUTES FROM HOME AFTER JUST STARTING UP FOR THE MORNING IN JUNE 27, 2017 UNDER HOOD STARTED TO SMOKE, CAUGHT ON FIRE, AN EXPLOSION SOUND AND CAR BURNED UP . CAR HAD TO BE PUT OUT BY FIRE DEPARTMENT. TOTAL LOSS PER INSURANCE COMPANY . THIS CAR HAS A ENGINE FIRE RECALL AND I WAS TOLD RECALL WORK WAS DONE PRIOR TO SALE OF THE CAR TO ME BY FORD DEALER IN MAY 2017. HOWEVER I NOW FIND OUT THAT THE ACTUAL RECALL PART IS STILL NOT AVAILABLE FROM FORD AND THAT ONLY AN INSPECTION WAS DONE PRIOR TO SALE. NOT AN ACTUAL REPAIR. THE RECALL HAD TO DO WITH ENGINE FIRES ! MAYBE ALL THESE CARS NEED TO BE OF THE ROAD.
POWER STEERING GOES OUT WHEN YOU STEP ON THE ACELATOR TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC AND THE VEHICLE ATTEMPTS TO STALL TAKING OFF FROM STOP SIGN. ALSO AT 14000 MILES I WAS TOLD ALL FOUR WHEELS NEEDED ALIGNMENT AND I DID NOT ASK THEM TO CHECK ALIGNMENT. I WAS TOLD I GET 30 PLUS MPG AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET OVER 24 MPG

VEHICLE CAN'T MAINTAIN COOLANT LEVEL, HAD VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP TWICE, CAN'T GET PROBLEM RESOLVED. CAN'T DRIVE VEHICLE OUT OF TOWN FOR FEAR OF FIRE. CONVENIENTLY WARRANTY HAS RUN OUT AND NOW THIS.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS INDICATED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18T006000 (TIRES), ALTHOUGH THE CONTACT'S TIRES WERE MANUFACTURED BY GOODYEAR RATHER THAN CONTINENTAL AS PER THE RECALL. "TAKATA RECALL"......I STOPPED BY 7-11 ATM TO GET SOME MONEY AND OTHER ITEMS...UPON RETURNING TO MY VEHICLE I NOTICED IT WOULD NOT START. THE DASHBOARD SAID IT WAS IN REVERSE EVEN THOUGH IT WAS IN PARK MODE. I SPEND APPROXIMATELY 3.5 HOURS ON THE PHONE WITH THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY TRYING TO GET SOME REAL HELP. AFTER NO SUCCESS, I WENT THRU THREE DIFFERENT CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS WHO WERE NOT KNOWLEDGEABLE ON HOW TO HANDLE A VEHICLE THAT WAS DISABLED, STUCK IN REVERSE AND WOULD NOT START. I ENDED UP CALLING AAA AND HAD IT TOWED TO MY OWN MECHANIC BECAUSE I CALLED THREE FORD DEALERSHIP STATED THAT IT WOULD BE AT LEAST 2-3 WEEKS BEFORE SOMEONE COULD CHECK OUT MY VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THEY WERE NOT COOPERATIVE IN HELPING ME GET A RENTAL CAR EITHER AND STATED THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE COST OF RENTING A CAR. MY OWN MECHANIC WHO HAS SERVICED ALL MY VEHICLES AND THERE HAS NEVER BEEN AN ISSUE... ADVISED ME THAT THE BRAKE CABLE OR SOMETHING TO THAT EFFECT WAS BROKEN. I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THAT IS POSSIBLE SINCE I JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE 10/2016. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN 9 MONTHS I'VE HAD ISSUES WITH FORD AND THEIR FAULTY PRODUCTS. APRIL 2017 FORD MOTORS SETTLED WITH ME OVER MY 2013 FORD FOCUS WHICH WAS IN AN OUT OF THE SHOP SINCE MARCH 2015. I'VE HAD TO GO THRU NUMEROUS AGENCIES TO GET ANY REAL HELP. I'VE SPOKEN WITH MY MECHANIC TODAY AND WAS GIVEN AN APPROX ESTIMATE OF $700 TO REPAIR AND MY CAR WON'T BE AVAILABLE UNTIL NEXT WEEK. AT THE END OF A 55 MILE TRIP THE "TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION" INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER THE VEHICLE SAT FOR A FEW HOURS I STARTED IT UP AGAIN AND THE LIGHT HAS NOT COME BACK ON. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND THE VEHICLE RETURNED TO NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AGAIN WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE SPLICES NEEDED TO BE SERVICED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 800-241-3673 AND STATED THAT THE CONTACT NEEDED TO CALL NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,243.
THE DISPLAY SCREEN WHICH SHOWS MILEAGE AND TIRE PRESSURE JUST RANDOMLY WENT OUT. IT WAS AS IF THERE WAS SOME SORT OF SHORT. THE SCREEN WOULD COME ON WITH LINES THROUGH IT AND TRY TO SHOW THE DISPLAY AND THEN COMPLETELY WHITED OUT. THIS WAS WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. I WENT OUT TO START IT ONE DAY ON MY WAY TO WORK AND THERE WAS NOTHING VISIBLE.
BACK UP CAMERA STOPPED WORKING PROPERLY ONLY AFTER 3 YEARS OF BUYING MY NEW 2014 FORD ESCAPE. IT ONLY WORKED INTERMITTENLY. MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE SUDDENLY HESITATES AND STALLS WHILE DRIVING IT, CAUSING A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. MY ESCAPE HAS NEVER HAD ANY WORK PERFORMED ON IT BEYOND NEW TIRES AND OIL CHANGES SO THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE AND WAS INFORMED IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE SPLICES IN THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE MAP SENSOR. I WAS ALSO TOLD IT IS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM AS FORD'S CURRENT RECALL NUMBER 14S17 FOR 2013-2014 FORD ESCAPES; HOWEVER MY VIN IS NOT COVERED BY THIS RECALL DUE TO ITS MANUFACTURING DATE. APPARENTLY ADDITIONAL VEHICLES NEED TO BE ADDED TO THIS RECALL OR A NEW RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED AS THIS ISSUE CONTINUED ON MY FORD ESCAPE AND FORD HAS REFUSED TO FIX MY PROBLEM SINCE MY VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY DUE TO THE NUMBER OF MILES, EVEN THOUGH THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE CAUSED BY A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM AND NOT A WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE. THE ENGINE OVERHEATING WARNING LIGHT CAME ON ABOUT TWO MILES DOWN THE ROAD WITH MODERATE DRIVING. PULLED OVER AND CHECKED THE COOLANT LEVEL AND IT IS LOW. ONE MONTH AGO, THE COOLANT LEVEL WAS CHECKED, IT WAS LOW AND IT WAS TOPPED OFF. THE COOLANT LEVEL SHOULD NOT GO DOWN IN ONE MONTH OF MODERATE DRIVING. ALSO, LOOKING UP INFO ON THE 2014 FORD ESCAPE, THERE IS A HISTORY OF COOLANT AND OVERHEATING ISSUES. THERE IS A DANGER OF FIRE OR THE ENGINE BLOCK CRACKING. FORD'S ANSWER WAS TO INSTALL A DETECTOR TO TELL CAR OWNER'S WHEN THE COOLANT LEVEL IS LOW. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. PLEASE DO SOMETHING.

THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION BEING DRIVEN WHEN HEAVY RAIN BEGAN. THE WIPERS WOULD NOT TURN ON IN ANY LEVEL, MANUAL OR OTHERWISE. THIS CREATED AN EXTREAMLY DANGEROUS SITUATION WITH LITTLE TO NO VISIBILITY. THE DEALER DID NOT DISCLOSE THE PROBLEMS WITH THE 2014 FORD ESCAPE BCM BUT INDICATED WAS THE CAUSE. THEY HOWEVER DID NOT REPLACE IT, BUT DID CHARGE $450 FOR DIAGNOSIS ONLY. NO ACTUAL REPAIR WAS MADE. THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE UNDER RECALL. IT IS AGAIN AFFECTING THE WIPER CONTROL INTERMITTENTLY.

THE JUST CALLED 3 DAYS AGO TO TELL BE ABOUT THE PARTS AND NOT COVERED. I THEN CALLED FORD BACK AND LEFT MY CELL PHONE # TO CONTACT ME BACK SINCE I WAS IN THE OFFICE THIS WEEK AND THEY CALLED AND LEFT A MESSAGE ON HOME PHONE EXPLAINING THAT PART WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I AM NOT PLEASED AT ALL WITH THE DEALER FIRST OFF THAT TOOK SO LONG AND LACK OF COMMUNICATION OR FORD FOR JUST SAYING OH WELL SUCK IT UP AND PAY IT. I SEARCHED INTERNET AND SAW THIS RECALL THAT MATCHED MY CAR'S EXPERIENCES TO A "T".
RECEIVED RECALL 17S09 ONE WEEK STATING LOSS OF COOLANT COULD CAUSE CYLINDER HEAD TO CRACK AND OIL TO LEAK OUT ONTO EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND CATCH FIRE. THE VERY NEXT WEEK WHILE DRIVING ON A COUNTRY ROAD MY ESCAPE CAUGHT FIRE WHILE DRIVING. I WAS LUCKY TO HAVE DRINKS IN THE CAR TO BE ABLE TO GET THE FIRE OUT BEFORE THE FIRE DEPARTMENT GOT THERE. TOWED VEHICLE TO FORD SHOP AND CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER CARE KNOWING THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND THEY WILL NOT ASSIST ME IN REPAIRING VEHICLE. THE RECALL BASICALLY ONLY STATES ADDING A LOW COOLANT SENSOR WHICH IN REALLY WILL NOT HELP BECAUSE IF IT BECOMES LOW ON COOLANT THE HEAD IS ALREADY CRACKED AND DAMAGE IS ALREADY DONE. FURTHER MORE FORD KNOWING THEY HAVE THIS PROBLEM DOESN'T EVEN HAVE PARTS AVAILABLE UNTIL AT THE EARLIEST FALL OF 2017 SO MORE PEOPLE WILL BE HAVING CAR FIRES AND MAY NOT BE AS LUCKY AS I WAS TO WRITE THIS REPORT.
THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE COOLANT SYSTEM, TO ADD A SENSOR DUE TO FORD HAVING CARS BLOWING MOTORS. AFTER THIS RECALL WAS DONE, I HAD THE CAR IN THE GARAGE ON AND OFF FOR OVER A MONTH, TO FIND OUT THAT TH COOLANT WAS LEAKING INTO THE NUMBER 4 CYLINDER. SO, THEY REPLACE THE MOTOR, NOT SURE ABOUT THE HEADS. THEN WITH IN WEEKS TROUBLE WITH THE TRANSMISSION.
ROUGHLY FOUR WEEKS AGO, I RECEIVED AN ALERT THAT MY CAR WAS OVERHEATING WHEN I WAS PARKED. I TOOK MY CAR IN TO FORD AND THEY TOLD ME THAT I NEED A NEW RESERVE BOTTLE AND CHARGED ME NEARLY $300. AT THIS POINT, THEY INSPECTED MY COOLANT SYSTEM AND TOPPED OFF MY COOLANT WHICH WAS LOW. TWO WEEKS LATER, I WAS GETTING ON THE FREEWAY AND I RECEIVED A SEVERE WARNING FOR OVER HEATING. MY CAR STARTED SHAKING AND AN ALARM WAS GOING OFF. I PULLED OFF THE FREEWAY TO OBSERVE THAT MY COOLANT BOTTLE WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY. I HAD MY CAR IN THE SHOP FOR NEARLY A WEEK BEFORE THEY DISCOVERED NOW THAT I NEED A NEW COOLANT BYPASS VALVE. I BELIEVE THAT FORD NEEDS TO EXPAND THEIR RECALL (17S09) TO INCLUDE THE ACTUAL ISSUE OF WHAT IS CAUSING THE LOCALIZED OVERHEATING, WHICH IS A LACK OF COOLANT FLOWING THROUGH THE ENGINE LEADING TO A CRACK IN THE CYLINDER HEAD. I HAVE TO SPEND NEARLY $900 TO FIX THIS PART ON A CAR BUILT IN 2014. FORD'S SOLUTION TO FIXING THE POSSIBLE CRACKED CYLINDER HEAD IS NOT TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE OF WHY THE COOLANT IS LEAKING, BUT TO INSTALL A SENSOR TO THEN MAKE OWNERS HAVE TO CONSTANTLY CHECK THEIR COOLANT SYSTEM. THIS IS NOT A FAIR SOLUTION TO THEIR PROBLEM. I DO NOT BELIEVE IT IS RIGHT TO MAKE OWNERS HAVE TO PAY FOR THE FAULTY COOLANT SYSTEM. THIS IS UNSAFE. MOST AVERAGE CONSUMERS ARE NOT MECHANICS AND WE SHOULD NOT BE SADDLED WITH HAVING TO CONSTANTLY MONITOR OUR COOLANT LEVELS BECAUSE FORD DEVELOPED A FAULTY COOLANT SYSTEM THAT COULD LEAD TO CYLINDER CRACKS THAT CAUSE ENGINE FIRES. I HAVE SPOKEN TO FORD CONSUMER RELATIONS AND THEY WERE NO HELP AT ALL. THEY COULD NOT EVEN EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT ITEMS THEY WOULD REIMBURSE FOR IN REGARD TO THIS RECALL. EVEN THOUGH THE RECALL LETTER STATES THEY WILL REIMBURSE FOR PREVIOUSLY PAID FOR COOLANT LEAK OR OVERHEATING REPAIR, THEY REFUSE TO ASSIST ME OR REIMBURSE ME FOR MY COOLANT AND OVERHEATING REPAIR. THIS IS NOT FAIR.
