ROOF LEAKS ON BOTH SIDES OF VEHICLE CAUSE WATER STAINED/WET HEADLINER ABOVE WINDSHIELD PILLERS. TOOK TO DEALER, THEY CLAIMED THEY RESEALED ROOF RACK, AND CLEANED HEADLINER. NOT EVEN 2 WEEKS LATER PAASENGER SIDE HEADLINER IS WET AGAIN. CONTACTED DEALER AND FORD IT IS WORSE THIS TIME THAN IT WAS THE FIRST TIME. APPARENTLY MY ESCAPE ISN'T THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE AFTER VISITING SEVERAL FORUM'S. WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION I CAN HEAR WATER DRIPPING IF ITS IS RAINING OR IF THERE IS A HEAVY DEW.
AFTER ONLY 22,000 MILES, I HAD TO PAY FOR NEW PADS AND ROTORS ON THE REAR BRAKES. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE BRAKES BUT REFUSED TO COVER THE COST UNDER A WARRANTY CLAIM. THE SERVICE TICKET BLAMED THE FAILURE ON A "FOUND LEFT REAR INSIDE PAD METAL TO METAL, FOUND SLIDE RUSTED UP"!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP TO APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHEN THE CONTACT ACCELERATED FROM A COMPLETE STOP. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE ALWAYS RECURRED SHORTLY AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE AND NEVER OCCURRED MORE THAN ONCE DURING ONE CONSECUTIVE TRIP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V005000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
I EXPERIENCED ON THREE OCCASIONS THAT THIS VEHICLE MISFIRES, STUMBLES, SHUDDERS AND ALMOST SHUTS OFF UNDER HEAVY ACCELERATION WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MERGE ONTO A HIGHWAY.THE LAST TIME THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED I WAS FORCED TO PULL ONTO THE BREAKDOWN LANE AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT DUE TO HIGHWAY TRAFFIC TRAVELING AT 70 MPH AND MY INABILITY TO ATTAIN A SUITABLE MERGING SPEED. I HAVE FURTHER OBSERVED THAT THIS SITUATION HAS ONLY OCCURRED AND COULD BE REPLICATED DURING RAIN AND HIGH HUMIDITY. THIS PROBLEM IS A DEFINITE SAFETY HAZARD THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED!

THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED TWO BLACK EYES AND VARIOUS BRUISES ALL OVER THE BODY. THE CONTACT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000.
AFTER 3 VISITS TO THE DEALERSHIP BEGINNING IN OCTOBER 2015 COMPLAINING THAT THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS INCLUDING RADIO WILL BRIGHTEN AND DIM ON AN ERRATIC BASIS. THE FORD DEALERSHIP IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM AS A DEFECTIVE SUN LOAD SENSOR CV6Z19E663A AND ORDERED THE PART UNDER WARRANTY ON 1/18/16 AT THE TIME I WAS TOLD THAT THE PART WOULD BE AVAILABLE IN A COUPLE OF DAYS. 4 WEEKS PASSED NO PART FILED COMPLAINT WITH FORD CASE # CAS-8813513 NOW IT IS 6+ WEEKS STILL NO PART. I CONSIDER THE ERRATIC DIMMING AND BRIGHTENING OF THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE ON AS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE ERRATIC BEHAVIOR CAUSES A DISTRACTION. THE INABILITY OF FORD TO PROVIDE A REPLACEMENT PART ON A PROMPT BASIS UNDER WARRANTY WHEN THE PART IN QUESTION CONTINUES TO BE USED IN CURRENT PRODUCTION VEHICLES DOES NOT MAKE SENSE TO ME.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE REPAIRED WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BCM CONNECTOR WAS DISCONNECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000.
IN MARCH 2015 CAR KEPT STALLING WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE STOPPED. BROUGHT TO DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED AS A PROBLEM WITH FUEL PUMP. AFTER A MONTH I GOT THE CAR BACK WITH REPLACED FUEL PUMP. AFTER THE FIX, CAR WOULD OFTEN HESITATE, SPUTTER AND SHAKE LIKE IT WAS ABOUT TO STALL. IN SEPTEMBER CAR KEPT STALLING ON START UP. BROUGHT TO DEALER WHO SAID CAR WAS "FINE" AND OPERATING AS DESIGNED. THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE PROBLEM. CAR CONTINUES TO HESITATE, SPUTTER AND SHAKE. AGAIN YESTERDAY CAR STALLED OUT 3 TIMES AT START UP. DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT.
THE CAR IS BUCKING AND ALMOST STALLING WHEN I ACCELERATE. I'VE TAKEN IT TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS AND THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING. ONE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS NORMAL, EVEN THOUGH I FOUND SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ONLINE.

WHILE INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT A BUBBLE HAD DEVELOPED ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE AND TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,223.
DOOR AJAR WARNING KEEPS GOING ON AND EVEN AFTER REPEATED HARD CLOSE OF DOOR WARNING IS STILL ON. VEHICLE IS IN PARK AND NOT MOVING. DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY NEEDING REPLACEMENT.

THE CONTACT STATED AFTER THREE DAYS OF ATTEMPTING TO UNLOCK THE DOORS, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT UNLOCK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 14,170.
THE SEALS ON THE AIR CONDITIONER EVAPORATOR DRAIN BOX HAVE FAILED TWICE IN 3 MONTHS. THIS CONDITION ALLOWS WATER THAT SHOULD DRAIN OVERBOARD THROUGH THE EVAPORATOR DRAIN BOX DRAIN HOSE TO LEAK OUT OF THE EVAPORATOR BOX ONTO THE FLOOR CARPET ON EACH SIDE OF THE CAR. THE WATER SATURATES THE CARPET UNDER THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS FEET. THE WATER CREATES A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS CONDITION OF THE DRIVERS FEET BEING ABLE TO SLIP OFF THE BRAKE OR GAS PEDAL FROM BEING CONTINUOUSLY WET WHILE OPERATING THE CAR. FORD REPAIRED THE CAR UNDER WARRANTY 3 MONTHS AGO. THE SEALS FAILED AGAIN AND SATURATED THE CARPET ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WITH WATER THAT LEAKED OUT OF THE EVAPORATOR BOX. FORD'S SERVICE MANAGER STATED "THE FACTORY FORD REPAIR KIT FOR THIS CONDITION IS NOT WORKING". HE ALSO STATED "THIS SEAL FAILURE IS AFFECTING 33% OF THE ESCAPES ON THE ROAD AND OTHER MAKES THAT USE THE SAME SEALS AND FORD IS AWARE OF THE HIGH RATE OF SEAL FAILURES". FORD TOLD US TO KEEP DRIVING THE CAR BECAUSE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS BACKED UP WITH THESE REPAIRS. WHY ISN'T THERE A RECALL ON THESE AFFECTED VEHICLES? HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE FORD ISSUES A RECALL ON THE AFFECTED VEHICLES?
A FEW MONTHS AGO, I HAD FILED A COMPLAINT ON THE 2014 FORD ESCAPE SE 1.6L TURBOCHARGED ECOBOOST WITH I-4WD MY MOTHER CURRENTLY OWNS. SHE HAD ACCELERATION PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR. AT A STOPLIGHT OR WHLE MOVING AT A DECENT PACE (ABOUT 20-40MPH), THE ENGINE WOULD SUDDENLY REV TOWARDS 4000-5000 AND NOT DROP INTO DRIVE. THIS HAD CONCERNED ME ALOT. MOM CALLED KELLER BROS. FORD HERE IN LITITZ, PENNSYLVANIA, AND SAID THAT SHE WILL HAVE TO TAKE HER CAR DOWN FOR A SOFTWARE UPDATE. THE UPDATE FIXED EVERYTHING. NO ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. AND SINCE THIS SOFTWARE UPDATE, I'VE NOTICED A HUGE DIFFERENCE. IT FEELS LIKE THERE IS MORE HORSES IN MY MOM'S CAR THAN THERE WAS BEFORE THE UPDATE. THE UPDATE HAPPENED 4-6 MONTHS AGO. I FEEL MUCH SAFER KNOWING THAT HER CAR WON'T END HER IN AN ACCIDENT. SHE CURRENTLY HAS OVER 16,000 MILES, AND SINCE THAT TIME FRAME, NO "DROP-OUTS" (< AS I CALL THEM) HAVE HAPPENED.
I HAD A RECALL PERFORMED THAT INCLUDED SOFTWARE. PRIOR TO THIS I HAD A DIGITAL READOUT OF MY SPEEDOMETER. AFTER THE RECALL THE READING I GOT BECAME AVERAGE SPEED. WITH THE DIGITAL READ I COULD GET QUICK UPDATE ON SPEED. THE AVERAGE SPEED IS ABSOLUTELY USELESS. I NOTIFIED FORD. THEY OPENED CASE CAS-7804630. SUBSEQUENT E-MAIL FROM THEM THEN RECORDED CASE CLOSED. UNSATISFACTORY. CASE FILED ON 08/31/2015.
MAR 27,2017 MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER: 17S09 NHTSA RECALL NUMBER: 17S09 RECALL STATUS: RECALL INCOMPLETE, REMEDY NOT YET AVAILABLE THIS CRITICAL SAFETY ISSUE SEEMS TO BE TAKING A LONG TIME TIME TO FIND AND IMPLEMENT A SOLUTION. I HAVE TO KEEP ADDING COOLANT AT LEAST ONCE A WEEK SINCE 08/26/2015. NO WATER IN THE OIL DURING RECOMMENDED OIL CHANGES. I WOULD LIKE TO BE DRIVING A SAFE VEHICLE NOT ONE THAT COULD POSSIBLY KILL ME. IS THIS SOMETHING THAT COULD BE COVERED UNDER THE LEMON LAW IN THE STATE OF TEXAS? I WOULD BE HAPPY TO SWAP IT FOR A DIFFERENT VEHICLE THAT DIDN'T HAVE THIS ISSUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH GOING DOWN A HILL WITH THE BRAKES ENGAGED, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND FAILED TO RESPOND WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A GRANITE WALL AND ROLLED OVER LANDING IN AN UPRIGHT POSITION. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT ONLY THE SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. NO POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WAS SORE BUT DID NOT SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REMOVED FROM THE PROPERTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000.
WHENEVER CAR IS ON AND PARKED, NOT MOVING, OR GOING SLOWER THAN 20 MPH, THE AIR CONDITIONING DOES NOT COOL AND BLOWS EXTREMELY HOT AIR INTO THE CAR. IF I AM IN TRAFFIC, AT A STOP LIGHT, GETTING DRIVE THROUGH, OR PARKING THE CAR, IT QUICKLY GETS DANGEROUSLY HOT. RIGHT NOW WE HAVE 100+ DEGREE DAYS CONSISTENTLY, WITH MY CHILD IN THE BACK SEAT I FEAR DRIVING MY VEHICLE IN THIS HEAT AS IT IS KNOWN TO KILL IN TEXAS. MY FATHER IS AN ELECTRICIAN AND WHEN I TOLD HIM HE SAID IT LOOKS LIKE AN ELECTRICAL OR POWER PROBLEM BECAUSE HE THINKS THE CAR IDLES TOO LOW.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LUG NUTS WERE ENLARGED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE LUG NUTS WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,650.
WHILE TRAVELING ON I-76, I CAME UPON A TRUCK-TIRE TREAD IN THE MIDDLE OF MY LANE. THERE WERE VEHICLES ON BOTH SIDES OF ME SO I COULD NOT SWERVE TO AVOID IT, I RAN OVER IT AND IT DAMAGED THE ENGINE SHIELD ON THE UNDERSIDE OF MY CAR ($300), A FRIEND RECENTLY HAD A SIMILAR INCIDENT IN WHICH A TRUCK AHEAD AND ON HIS RIGHT THREW A TREAD WHICH STRUCK THE FRONT OF THE CARE ($1300). WHILE ON A RECENT EXTENDED TRIP, I CAME UPON 50-75 DISCARDED TREADS ON THE INTERSTATES. THE PURPOSE OF MY MAKING THIS REPORT IS TO SUGGEST THAT CONSIDERATION BE GIVEN TO BANNING RETREADS ON OVER-THE-ROAD TRUCKS. THEY APPEAR TO BE UNRELIABLE AND COULD CAUSE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS AT THESE SPEEDS IF THEY HAVEN'T ALREADY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V005000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
**THIS INCIDENT INVOLVES THE PANORAMIC ROOF GLASS/WINDOW SPONTANEOUSLY BURSTING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.** MY FAMILY AND I WERE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN SUDDENLY WE HEARD A VERY LOUD EXPLOSION. IT STARTLED MY HUSBAND, HE ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE SWERVED AS A RESULT OF HAVING THE ROOF TORN OPEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS INCIDENT COULD CAUSE A SEVERE, LIFE-THREATENING INJURY. WE PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WE SAW THAT THE GLASS HAD BURST ALMOST COMPLETELY, LEAVING ONLY APPROXIMATELY 1.5" MARGINS OF SHATTERED GLASS AROUND THE EDGES. THE RUBBER BOND THAT SEALS THE GLASS ON ALL FOUR SIDES TO THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE BENT TO THE POINT WHERE IT WAS FLAILING ABOUT ON THE HIGHWAY. THE SHATTERED PIECES OF GLASS CHIPPED/SCRATCHED/DAMAGED THE ROOF RACK, REAR PANORAMIC ROOF GLASS (THE PANORAMIC ROOF ON THE THIS ESCAPE IS COMPRISED OF TWO GLASSES, ONE IN THE FRONT THAT SLIDES OPENED AND CLOSED, AND THE REAR ONE THAT REMAINS STATIONARY) AND THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING IMPACTED THE VEHICLE TO CAUSE THIS DAMAGE. THIS INCIDENT IS NOT A RESULT OF MISUSE OR ABUSE. IT IS ABSOLUTELY A DEFECTIVE COMPONENT THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS NOT BEEN RESPONSIBLE FOR. WHILST ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WE CONTACTED OUR FORD DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD US TO SEND PICTURES. WE DID AND THEY SENT THEM TO FORD CORPORATE FOR APPROVAL. THEY ANSWERED THAT SINCE THEY CAN'T SEE THE DEFECTIVE COMPONENT IN THE PICTURES, THEY CAN ASSUME SOMETHING IMPACTED THE GLASS AND THEREFORE THE INCIDENT DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR WARRANTY SERVICE. I WAS QUOTED THAT THE REPAIRS COULD COST APPROXIMATELY $1500USD. I HAVE DOCUMENTATION AND PICTURES OF THE INCIDENT THAT I WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO SHARE IF DEEMED HELPFUL TO MAKE MY CASE. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT HAS AFFECTED MANY ESCAPE OWNERS. THERE WAS EVEN A RECALL IN 2014 REGARDING ISSUES WITH THE PANEL OF THE PANORAMIC ROOF.
REAR OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLES STICK. EXCESSIVE FORCE HAS TO BE USED TO OPEN THE DOORS. PARTS HAVE FALLEN OUT OF HANDLE INSIDE DOOR.
The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would hesitate upon depression of the accelerator and the vehicle would enter Limp Mode. The engine fault, service now message, and check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact also stated that the vehicle would resume normal operation upon restart of the vehicle. The contact initially took the vehicle to Gullo Ford of Conroe (925 Interstate 45 S, Conroe, TX 77301) where the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. Over the years, the failure became more frequent and the contact took the vehicle to another dealer. The dealer then discovered insufficient compression in the engine wiring harness splices leading to the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor providing incorrect signals to the powertrain control module (PCM) and the contact was given an estimate for repair. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V495000 (Electrical System) however, his vehicle was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was repaired by the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 21,000.
"ENGINE FAULT SERVICE NOW LIGHT" CAME ON TWICE WITH "HILL START ASSIST NOT AVAILABLE" BOTH TIMES. AFTER STOPPING AT TRAFFIC LIGHT AND STEPPING ON GAS PEDAL, CAR WOULD NOT MOVE AND GAVE NO INDICATION IT HAD STALLED. ALL NORMAL LIGHTS WERE ON. I PUT CAR IN "PARK" AND RESTARTED. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE ON HILLS AND HAS DIED ON ME FOUR TIMES.
MOST RECENT AND TROUBLING INCIDENT WAS TRAVELLING DOWNHILL AROUND 30 MPH, NOT PRESSING GAS PEDAL, AND ENGINE RPMS ROSE TO OVER 4000 AND STAYED WITH THE ENGINE MAKING A DISTINCT NOISE THAT EVEN A 12 YEAR OLD NOTICED WAS NOT RIGHT. AFTER APPLYING BRAKE AND REACHING BOTTOM OF HILL, THE RPMS EVENTUALLY REDUCED. SO FAR THIS EXTREME CASE WAS A ONE TIME OCCURENCE, BUT SEEMS RELATED TO OTHER BEHAVIOR. DURING REGULAR IN-TOWN TRAVELLING THE ENGINE JUST DOES NOT SEEM TO CHANGE GEARS CORRECTLY OR SMOOTHLY. RPMS WILL REMAIN BETWEEN 2000-3000 REGARDLESS IF YOU ARE GOING 10 MPH OR 55 MPH, BUT PROBLEM IS NOT CONSISTENT. MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND ALSO GOING INTO REVERSE, THE CAR ALMOST STALLS AND DOES NOT ACCELERATE AS QUICKLY AS IT SHOULD GIVEN THE PRESSURE ON THE GAS PEDAL. IT SEEMS AS IF ALL OF THESE TYPES OF ISSUES ARE RELATED TO THE SAME CORE PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION AND I SEE OTHER COMPLAINTS HERE SIMILIAR TO THIS. I'VE HAD THE CAR FOR 8 MONTHS AND IT SEEMS TO BE MORE FREQUENT AS TIME PASSES. THESE ISSUES ARE MUCH MORE NOTICABLE WITH DAILY DRIVING, BUT MY HUSBAND HAS NOTICED DURING THE FEW TIMES HE DRIVES THE CAR. HE SAYS IT IS JUST A "CLUNKY" DRIVING CAR, BUT CAR FEELS VERY UNRELIABLE WHEN DRIVEN ON A DAILY BASIS ESPECIALLY FOR THE PRICE.
AFTER ABOUT (3) MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR, THE ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER STARTED FLICKERING. I DIDN'T PAY TOO MUCH ATTENTION TO IT. AFTER A WHILE, THE SCREEN COMPLETELY WENT OUT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR AN OIL CHANGE & THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTEE & IT WOULD COST ME AT LEAST 750.00 TO REPLACE THE WHOLE ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER & THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO KEEP THE CAR FOR AT LEAST 3 DAYS BECAUSE THEY HAD TO KEEP THE CAR UNTIL THEY RECEIVE THE NEW CLUSTER & INSTALL IT. IF THERE ARE OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, I WOULD LIKE SOME ADVICE.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE "ENGINE FAULT SERVICE NOW" WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. MY CAR THEN LOST POWER AND WENT INTO A "LIMP HOME" MODE. ONCE I SAFELY ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE. ONCE IT WAS TURNED BACK ON, IT WAS FINE. I TOOK THIS INTO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY REPAIRED A RECALL AND ORDERED PARTS. IT TOOK A FEW DAYS FOR THE PARTS TO GET IN. DURING THAT TIME EVERY TIME I DROVE ON THE HIGHWAY THE CAR STARTED MAKING A KNOCKING NOISE AND THEN THE LIGHT WOULD COME BACK ON AND THE VEHICLE WOULD GO BACK INTO THAT LIMP HOME MODE. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY SEMIS AND OTHER VEHICLES AT FAST RATES OF SPEED DUE TO THIS ISSUE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK IN FOR THEM TO INSTALL THE ORDERED PARTS. WHEN I GOT MY CAR BACK THE ISSUE CONTINUED, AND NOW MY CAR IS IN THE SHOP FOR THE 4TH TIME. THEY ARE WORKING WITH FORD ENGINEERS AND THEY ARE NOT HAVING LUCK FINDING THE ISSUE. I HAVE READ OF OTHER INDIVIDUALS HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. IS IT GOING TO TAKE A FATALITY BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE? I HAVE AN 8 MONTH OLD BABY, AND I BOUGHT A NEW CAR FOR SAFETY AND SECURITY - I DO NOT HAVE EITHER AT THIS TIME.
I BOUGHT THIS CAR A YEAR AGO, AND PUT A ROAD SAFETY KIT UNDER THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. LAST WEEK MY PASSENGER SEAT AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND THE AIRBAG WAS DISCONNECTED. THE DEALER SAID A WIRE BROKE BECAUSE THAT KIT WAS UNDER THE SEAT. THEY ARE CHARGING ME OVER $200.00 TO REPLACE THIS BROKEN WIRE AND PIGTAIL! THIS IS A BIG SAFETY CONCERN THAT SUCH A SMALL ITEM CAN DISARM A BIG SAFETY FEATURE. WHY IS THIS AREA SO ACCESSIBLE TO SUCH A PROBLEM? THIS IS A BIG ENGINEERING DEFECT ON FORD'S PART. THESE VEHICLES SHOULD BE RECALLED AND HAVE A GUARD OF SOME SORT INSTALLED TO KEEP THIS FROM HAPPENING. EVEN A CHILD COULD KICK SOMETHING SMALL, EVEN A BABY BOTTLE, UNDER THE SEAT. THEN, THE AIRBAG WOULD NOT WORK AS AN ADULT GOT INTO THE CAR. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LATCH IS DEFECTIVE. IT HAS OPENED WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN TO GET FIXED SEVERAL TIMES AND IT NEVER GETS FIXED PROPERLY. IF THE DOOR IS CLOSED AND YOU GO TO OPEN IT, THE DOOR HANDLE WILL STAY OUT AND IT WILL NOT CLOSE. THIS PROBLEM FIRST HAPPENED AROUND 2015 AND IT HAS BEEN A PROBLEM EVER SINCE.
WHILE PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT, THE A/C WAS TURNED ON. THERE WAS A GRINDING NOISE, SMOKE STARTING COMING UP FROM THE HOOD AND OUT THE WHEEL WELL, AND THE ENGINE STALLED OUT, LEAVING THE CAR IN HALF WAY OUT IN TRAFFIC. EACH TIME THE ENGINE WAS RESTARTED, IT STALLED OUT AGAIN RIGHT AWAY. FINALLY THE VEHICLE WAS PUSHED OUT OF THE ROAD AND INTO AN ADJACENT PARKING LOT FOR TOWING. THE DEALERSHIP SAYS THE COMPRESSOR BLEW AND SENT METAL SHRAPNEL THROUGHOUT THE HOOD, PENETRATING RUBBER HOSES AND BELTS, AND CAUSING THE CAR TO STOP RUNNING. *TR
I HAVE ISSUED A COMPLAINT ABOUT THREE AND A HALF MONTHS AGO. AGAIN, MY MOTHER IS STILL HAVING ACCELERATION PROBLEMS WITH HER CAR. ON APRIL 22ND, SHE STATED THAT SHE WAS GOING UP A HILL, AND THE CAR SUDDENLY STARTED REVVING TO 4000-5000RPM. AT ONE POINT, SHE SAID SHE LIGHTLY WENT ON THE GAS TO SEE IF THE FUEL WOULD KICK IN AND IT REVVED UP 500 RPM PAST THE REDLINE, AND STILL NO ACCELERATION. ONE DAY, MY MOM IS GOING TO END UP BEING REAR-ENDED WHEN THIS HAPPENS AND I WOULD NOT LIKE THAT TO HAPPEN. FORD ABSOLUTELY NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. THIS IS LEASED. MY AUTO TRANS. RANDOMLY POPS INTO NEUTRAL THEN KICKS INTO GEAR, CAUSING A JOLT. THIS HAPPENS SOMETIMES NOT AT ALL, AND ONCE THREE TIMES IN ONE DAY. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE FORD DEALER WHO CANNOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM, BUT HAS BUT A LOT OF MILES ON MY LEASE. LAST FRIDAY, THIS ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE SINCE BEEN ON CHAT WITH FORD, HAVE CALLED THEM, HAVE COMPLAINED REGARDING NC LEMON LAW, AND MORE, AND FORD WILL NOT REPLY AT ALL. MY WIFE IS UPSET THAT I AM EVEN DRIVING THE CAR, AND I WILL NOT LET HER DRIVE IT. I WAS TAKING TWO FRIENDS GOLFING A FEW WEEKS AGO AND IT HAPPENED TWICE, AND THEY BOTH COMMENTED, SO I HAVE WITNESSES WHO FELT IT. I WANT A RESOLUTION. THIS HAS CAUSED TO NEAR MISSES. ONE WHEN PULLING FROM A PARKING LOT ONTO A 45 MPH ROAD WHEN IT STALLED FOR ABOUT 50 YARDS, AND LAST FRIDAY ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN IT STALLED THEN VERY ABRUPTLY AND NOISILY KICKED BACK INTO GEAR. I WAS WILLING TO GET THE CAR FIXED, BUT AFTER HAVING IT INTO THE FORD DEALER NOW FOUR TIMES, I JUST WANT FORD TO GET ME OUT OF THE LEASE AND INTO ANOTHER FORD OR LINCOLN, WHICH I THINK IS A FAIR RESOLUTION, AS I WILL STILL BE PAYING FOR A CAR. I KNOW I CANNOT DRIVE THIS ONE ANYMORE, BUT CURRENTLY DON'T HAVE ANOTHER OPTION. THIS HAPPENS RANDOMLY, ALWAYS IN MOTION WHILE PICKING UP SPEED. USUALLY WHEN THE MOTOR IS WARM OR GETTING THERE. IT CAN BE AT 15-20 MPH OR EVEN ON A 70 MPH HIGHWAY. NO CONSISTENCY. IT HAS PROBABLY HAPPENED 30 OR 40 TIMES IN THE LAST SIX MONTHS, INCLUDING THE BAD ONE FRIDAY, ONCE ON SATURDAY, TWICE ON SUNDAY AND ONCE TODAY (TUESDAY). I AM NOW TRACKING THE INCIDENTS.
THE VEHICLE BRAKES HAD BEEN MAKING A GRINDING NOISE, SPECIFICALLY WHILE BACKING UP. AFTER A TRIP TO THE DEALER THEY STATED THERE WERE NO ISSUES. A FEW MONTH LATER (AT NIGHT) THE VEHICLES BRAKES BECAME GRABBY, GRINDING, AND SQUEALING, CAUSING THE ABS SYSTEM TO ACTIVATE THINKING THE VEHICLE TIRES WERE LOCKED UP AND SLIDING. THE VEHICLE THEN SLID OFF THE ROAD. I INSPECTED THE BRAKES THE FOLLOWING MORNING AND FOUND THAT ROTORS WERE HEAVILY DAMAGED WITH GOUGES AND GROOVES. THEY LOOKED AS THOUGH THEY HAD 60K MILES ON THEM IN-LIEU-OF THE ACTUAL 11,454, AND AS THOUGH THE PADS WERE WORN AND HAD DAMAGED THE ROTORS. THE PADS ACTUALLY SHOWED LITTLE TO NO WEAR HOWEVER THE ROTORS HAD SEVERE PREMATURE DAMAGE. THE DEALER RELUCTANTLY CHANGED THE ROTORS AND PADS. THIS SEEMS TO ME TO BE EITHER AN ENGINEERING ISSUE OR BAD PARTS, RESULTING IN PREMATURE PARTS FAILURE. THIS ISSUE CAN LEAD TO BRAKE FAILURE AND A CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENT. *TR
I ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE THE REAR LIFT GATE DOOR BY THE HANDLE, AND IT ACTED AS IF THERE WERE NO SCREWS HOLDING IT TO THE DOOR. I HAD TO GRASP AND PULL DOWN ON THE DOOR TO CLOSE IT THEN AND SINCE THEN IN ALL CASES. POOR MANUFACTURE.
THE REAR HATCH HAS A SIGNIFICANT LEAK WHEN IT RAINS OR I GO THROUGH A CAR WASH. I HAVE REPORTED THIS MANY TIMES AND THE RESOLVE WAS FOR ME TO PAY AN EXTREME AMOUNT TO HAVE THE RUBBER REPLACED. SEVERAL OF MY FRIENDS THAT HAVE THE SAME CAR HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS WAS NOTICED SHORTLY AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR. I BELIEVE IT IS A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE RECALLED AND CORRECTED. IT IS LEAKING RIGHT AT THE WIRING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AND COULD CAUSE MORE SERIOUS ISSUES DOWN THE ROAD. I HAVE A TEMPORARY FIX AT THIS TIME BUT IT IS NOT PERMANENT BY ANY MEANS.

FORTUNATELY THERE WERE NO CARS PARKED ON THIS PARTICULAR STREET OR THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT. MANAGED TO STRAIGHTEN WHEEL AND ABLE TO PULL IN A PARKING SPOT. CAR'S ELECTRICAL SYSTEM STARTED SHUTTING DOWN TO SAVE BATTERY POWER. HAD CAR TOWED TO FORD DEALER. THEY SAY THE ALTERNATOR WAS WEAK. FIVE DAYS AFTER THE INCIDENT AND STILL WAITING FOR THE PART. LOST CONFIDENCE IN THE PRODUCT. CAR IS NINE MONTHS OLD. *TR
ONCE AGAIN VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AFTER BEING PARKED FOR OVER AN HOUR. TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO START. ALL DASH LIGHTS AND HEADLIGHTS, RADIO, WINDOWS, ETC. WOULD FUNCTION, BUT NO INDICATION OF IGNITION WHEN KEY WAS TURNED. TRIED BOTH KEYS TO MAKE SURE IT WAS NOT A BAD KEY. NEITHER KEY WORKED. LEFT CAR WHERE PARKED OVERNIGHT AND RETURNED IN THE MORNING. CAR STARTED. CALLED DEALER AND IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT I DRIVE THE CAR IN, RATHER THAN HAVE IT TOWED IN. I DID. I LEFT THE CAR AT THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED LATER THAT DAY THAT THEY HAD BEEN ABLE TO VERIFY MY COMPLIANT. THEY INDICATED THAT IT WAS A BUILD UP OF RESISTANCE IN A WIRE THEN THE ENGINE WAS HOT. IT WAS WRAPPED AND I WAS ASSURED THE I WOULD NO LONGER HAVE THE PROBLEM. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT SOME 2013-14 FORD ESCAPES HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR INSUFFICIENT COMPRESSION OF CASING AROUND THE WIRING, CAUSING EXACTLY THE PROBLEMS I HAVE BEEN HAVING. ALL THE POTENTIAL PROBLEMS LISTED IN THE RECALL, SHORT OF A POSSIBLE CRASH HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCED TO DATE! MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED AT ONE OF THE AFFECTED ASSEMBLY PLANTS DURING THE AFFECTED DATES. HOWEVER, THE RECALL INDICATES 2.0 LITER ENGINES. MINE IS A 1.6 LITER ENGINE. THEREFORE, DEALER SAID THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING FOR ME AND ASSURED ME THE PROBLEM HAD BEEN SOLVED. I REQUESTED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS BE REPLACED BECAUSE I FELT UNSAFE IN MY VEHICLE AND WAS AFRAID THAT IT WOULD STOP SUDDENLY AND I COULD CRASH. I WAS TOLD THAT REPAIR WAS NOT POSSIBLE, BECAUSE MY SPECIFIC VIN WAS NOT RECALLED. I WAS ASSURED THAT I SHOULD HAVE NO FURTHER PROBLEMS. I ACCEPTED THE RETURN OF MY VEHICLE, WITH THE ASSURANCE THAT IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN, WE WOULD ESCALATE MY REQUEST FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE WIRING HARNESS. THE DEALER HAD MY CAR FOR OVER A WEEK. *TR
VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AFTER BEING PARKED FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR. TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO START, HEADLIGHTS AND DASH LIGHTS WOULD ILLUMINATE, BUT THERE WAS NO INDICATION OF ANY POWER GOING TO ENGINE TO START. NO CLICKING (AS WITH A DEAD BATTERY - ALL LIGHTS WERE FUNCTIONING PROPERLY). WAITED 10 MINUTES AND IT STARTED. TURNED IT OFF BRIEFLY TO GO INSIDE TO TELL SHOP OWNER THAT CAR HAD STARTED. CAME BACK OUT, IT WOULD NOT START AGAIN. TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO RESTART AND IT WOULD NOT. LEFT CAR WHERE PARKED AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO TAKE CAR TO DEALER IN THE MORNING. DEALER WAS UNABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM AND WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR TO START EACH TIME. I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AND TO PICK UP MY CAR. WHICH I DID. *TR
BRAND NEW TIRES ON A BRAND NEW 2015 FORD ESCAPE TITANIUM. THE TIRES ON THIS NEW CAR ARE THE CONTINENTAL CONTIPROCONTACT. THE RIGHT REAR TIRE HAD A FLAT WHEN MY WIFE WAS DRIVING IT. THE FLAT WAS ON THE SIDE OF THIS TIRE NEAR THE RIM AND THERE WAS ALSO AIR LEAKING FROM THE EDGE OF WHERE THE TIRE AND RIM MEET. ONLY 1,600 MILES ON THIS CAR WHEN WE HAD THIS FLAT. DO NOT RECALL DRIVING OVER ANYTHING THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED THIS. SLASH/SLIT WAS ON THE SIDE OF THE TIRE NEAR THE RIM AND THEN ALSO THE LEAK ON THE EDGE AS I MENTIONED. I COULD NOT ENTER A 2015 FORD ESCAPE TITANIUM AWD SO I HAD TO SELECT A 2014 FORD ESCAPE, BUT OUR CAR IS A 2015 FORD ESCAPE TITANIUM AWD. *TR

DROVE APPROXIMATELY 2-3 BLOCKS AS HESITATION, JERKING AND LACK OF POWER CONTINUED. WENT BACK HOME AND CALLED TOW TRUCK TO TAKE CAR TO DEALER. TACHOMETER WAS ERRATIC AND BOUNCING AROUND, WHEN CAR IDLED. CAR STARTED FINE SEVERAL TIMES, BUT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OR RUN NORMALLY. DEALER VERIFIED COMPLAINT, AND REPAIRED AFFECTING WIRING. *TR
MY WIFE AND I WERE DRIVING ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY DURING THE DAY. WE WERE NOT OPERATING THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF AND THE SHADE WAS COMPLETELY OPEN. SUDDENLY AND ALL AT ONCE, THE FRONT PANE OF GLASS IN THE SUNROOF EXPLODED INTO THE CABIN. GLASS CUT MY FACE IN TWO LOCATIONS AND CAUSED BLEEDING. THERE WAS NO NEARBY TRAFFIC IN FRONT OF US OR ON THE SIDE. WE WERE NOT TRAVELING UNDER AN OVERPASS. WE WERE ABLE TO QUICKLY REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AS THE BREAKAGE CAUSED US TO SLOW DOWN AND SWERVE. THERE WERE NO OTHER COLLISIONS OR DAMAGE AFTER THE SUNROOF BROKE. AS NO OBJECT OR PROJECTILE CAUSED THE BREAKAGE AND THERE WAS NO PRIOR DAMAGE TO THE SUNROOF, IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THERE WAS A FAULT WITH EITHER THE GLASS OR SUNROOF ASSEMBLY. *TR

A DRIVER TURNED DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME WHILE I WENT THROUGH AN INTERSECTION AT 40 MPH. I CAR WAS HIT HEAD ON, THE ENTIRE FRONT END AND FRAME WAS DESTROYED. NOT ONE OF MY AIRBAGS WAS DEPLOYED. I HAD JUST HAD LEFT SHOULDER SURGERY AND THE ONLY RESTRAINT WAS MY LAP AND CHEST SEAT BELT. I HAVE HAD TO GO THROUGH SURGERY, MULTIPLE DENTAL REPAIRS, REHAB. FORD TOLD ME THAT THERE HAD BEEN NO RECALL ON THE ESCAPE BUT THE CAR WAS DETERMINED TO BE TOTALED AND WAS GONE QUICKLY. I ONLY HOPE THAT THEY RECALL THESE FAULTY AIRBAGS QUICKLY BEFORE THERE ARE MORE DEATHS ATTRIBUTED TO THEM.
MY MOTHER OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE SE WITH THE 1.6L ECOBOOST ENGINE. SHE HAS NOTICED THAT MANY TIMES, SHE LIGHTLY STEPS ON THE GAS, AND THE CAR SUDDENLY REVS IT'S ENGINE IN THE 3000-4000 RPM RANGE WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS IN DRIVE. BASICALLY, IT DIDN'T WANT TO GO. SHE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO SEE IF THEY COULD FIND OUT THE PROBLEM, AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. I SURE WOULD HATE TO SEE MY MOTHER SERIOUSLY HURT DUE TO THESE PROBLEMS WITH HER CAR. *TR
