The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the back-up camera was intermittently inoperable. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was related to Dealer Bulletin: 20C19. The local dealer was contacted and confirmed there were no recalls associated with the VIN. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 25,000.
THIS IS ONE OF MANY OCCURRENCES CONCERNING THIS PROBLEM. MY FIRST COMMUNICATION WITH FORD SERVICE WAS IN DECEMBER 2013 CONCERNING THE DOOR HANDLE STICKING CAUSING THE DOOR NOT TO LATCH. IN JANUARY 2014 THEY ASKED FOR A PHOTO OF THE PROBLEM TO SHARE WITH THEIR ENGINEERING TEAM. FORD HAS ISSUED CASE NUMBERS AND BASICALLY JUST TOLD ME TO BRING IT INTO THE DEALER. I'VE HAD MULTIPLE COMMUNICATION WITH FORD SERVICE THROUGHOUT THE YEAR INFORMING THEM THAT I STILL HAVE THE ISSUE. THE DEALER HAS TRIED TO FIX FOUR TIMES INCLUDING APPLYING THE RECALL. THE LAST DEALER ATTEMPT WAS IN NOVEMBER 2014 BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. THE DOOR HAS OPENED WHEN I WAS BACKING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY DUE TO THE HANDLE STICKING IN THE OPEN POSITION.THE DOOR HANDLE HAS STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION WELL OVER A HUNDRED TIMES. I'VE SHARED PHOTOS OF THE ISSUE WITH THE DEALER, FORD SERVICE AND OVER THE INTERNET. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DONE THE ROAD, A LOUD POP WAS HEARD. MY 3 YEAR OLD POINTED TO THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF AND SAID LOOK. IT HAD FALLEN INWARD ON THE BACK OF THE GLASS WHILE THE FRONT OF THE GLASS STAYED ATTACHED, CRACKING THE GLASS. PIECES OF GLASS FELL INTO THE BACK SEAT AND ALL IN MY SONS LAP. FORD HAS HAD RECALLS ON CERTAIN VIN NUMBERS BUT NOT MINE, EPOXY BEING MIXED INCORRECTLY CAUSING GLASS TO BECOME SEPARATED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH WITH TEMPERATURES IN THE HIGH 20'S I HEARD A LOUD POP SIMILAR TO A GUN SHOT AND THEN LOOKED BACK AND MY REAR WINDOW JUST STARTED TO SPIDER. I WAS ONLY IN THE VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. I PULLED OVER AND THERE WERE NO IMPACT MARKS AND THE GLASS ON EACH SIDE OF THE WINDOW HAD FALLEN OFF BUT THE REST OF THE GLASS WAS IN TACT. THERE WERE VERTICAL STRESS FRACTURES ON EACH FAR SIDE OF THE GLASS AND SPIDERING ON THE REST OF THE GLASS TOWARD THE MIDDLE. FORD LET ME KNOW THAT THIS HAD BEEN HAPPENING TO F150'S RECENTLY BUT NOT IN NEW ESCAPES AND THEY REFUSED TO PAY FOR IT. THEY ADVISED THAT SOMETHING MUST OF IMPACTED THE WINDOW BUT WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY FURTHER CLARIFICATION. I HAVE PICTURES OF THE GLASS ALSO AND SUBMITTED THEM TO FORD'S CORPORATION AND ALSO THE DEALERSHIP, MOON TOWNSHIP FORD. THEY STILL WOULD NOT PAY. IT SEEMS THIS HAS BEEN A CONTINUING PATTERN FOR FORD ESCAPES THROUGHOUT THE PAST DECADE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH IN THE SNOW, THE VEHICLE SHOOK UNCONTROLLABLY. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT ALL FOUR TIRE RIMS WERE PACKED WITH SNOW AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE'S WHEEL BALANCE TO FAIL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,900.
MY WIFE PULLED UP DRIVEWAY, I HAPPENED TO BE OUTSIDE NEXT TO CAR WHEN SHE PULLED IN. WE SUDDENLY HEARD LOUD CRUNCHING SOUND AND SHE STOPPED. WHEN WE FOUND NOTHING I ASKED HER TO BACK UP. WE HEARD CRUNCHING SOUND AGAIN AND SHE SAID THE STEERING WHEEL WAS NOT CONTROLLING CAR. SHE IMMEDIATELY STOPPED. WE DISCOVERED RIGHT FRONT WHEEL PUSHED AGAINST TIRE WELL OF BODY FRAME. NEXT DAY WHEN TOW TRUCK LIFTED CAR, WE DISCOVERED THE BALL JOINT ASSEMBLY HAD COME APART. PERRY FORD (SAN DIEGO) CONFIRMED BALL JOINT APPEARS TO HAVE COME APART WITHOUT ANY OBVIOUS SIGN OF DAMAGE DUE TO IMPACT OR DRIVER FAULT. NOTE: MY WIFE HAD JUST COME OFF FREEWAY, TRAVELING 15 MILES FROM WORK AND 1 MILE FROM OFF RAMP TO OUR HOME. IF SHE HAD BEEN JUST ANOTHER 5 MIN ON FREEWAY TRAVELING 65-70MPH...I HATE TO IMAGINE WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS MATTER WITH FORD. *TR
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
I WAS DRIVING ALONG WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON AT 73 MPH, WHEN I COULD NO LONGER ACCELERATE, MY ESCAPE JUST DIED WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS, STALL OUT OR ANYTHING. JUST AS IF SOMEONE TURNED IT OFF. I HAD TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND TRIED TO START IT AGAIN WITH NO LUCK. WHEN I TURNED THE KEY OVER, IT SEEMED LIKE IT WANTED TO START BUT WAS NOT GETTING THE GAS TO. I TRIED 3 MORE TIME AND FINALLY CALLED FORD ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP. I AM WAITING ON A REPLY (WITH NO LOANER ETC) THE REASON I BUY NEW IS FOR PEACE OF MIND. NOT EVEN , 10,000 MILES ON THE CAR AND IT BRAKES? WHAT GIVES. I HAVE ALREADY TAKEN IT BACK TO THE DEALER ONCE (THE DAY AFTER I BOUGHT IT) BECAUSE IT TRIES TO STALL WHEN SWITCHING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE, BUT THE DEALER MADE SOME EXCUSE AND SAID TO WATCH AND SEE IF IT CONTINUES. I AM JUST GLAD THAT I WAS WITHIN CELL PHONE SIGNAL RANGE BECAUSE I HAD JUST NOT BEEN A FEW MINUTES BEFORE (SCARY). *TR
THE REAR HATCH WHERE THE HANDLE BAR IS TO CLOSE THE BACK HATCH HAS RIPPED OFF. THIS IS NOW HANGING AND HAS CAUSED THE BACK PLASTIC PIECE THAT HOLDS MY WINDOW, WINDSHIELD WIPER, AND WHERE I AM SUPPOSED TO PULL THE HATCH DOOR DOWN TO BE USELESS. IT JUST FLAPS NOW. I CANT SHUT MY DOOR WITH THE HANDLE THAT WAS PROVIDED SINCE IT FELL OFF!! I HOPE THIS DOESN'T MAKE MY WINDSHIELD LEAK OR HURT THE WIPER. *TR
THERE'S A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE IN THE ESCAPE, ESPECIALLY AFTER FILLING IT UP WITH GAS. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED A LEAK OF GAS UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON SOUTHFIELD FREEWAY IN MICHIGAN ABOUT 5:15 PM, I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE WHEN TRAFFIC STOPPED. I STOPPED ALONG WITH THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. AT THIS TIME THE CAR BEHIND DID NOT STOP GOING SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 20-40MPH HIT MY CAR IN THE BACK AND PUSHED ME INTO THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY EVEN THOUGH I GOT HIT FROM BEHIND AND PUSHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE FORCE WAS SO STRONG THAT IT BROKE MY DRIVER SEAT AND MY GLOVE BOX. MY FORD ESCAPE WAS TOTAL LOSS IN THE ACCIDENT. I SUFFERED SOME BUMPS AND BRUISES AND WHIPLASH AND DID GO TO THE ER FOR THESE INJURIES. *TR
I GOT A RECALL NOTICE MY AIRBAGS MAY SHORT OUT & TAKE IT TO MY FORD DEALER. I DID OVER 3.5 MONTHS AGO AND THEY SAID FORD WAS WORKING ON A FIX TO MY SOFTWARE MODULE. INSTEAD IT STOPPED MY CLOCK. IF MY AIRBAGS DIDN'T WORK FOR 10 MONTHS HOW DO I KNOW THAT FORD FIXED THEM? WHERE IS THE TEST THAT PROVES IT? AM I DRIVING WITHOUT AIR BAGS? FORD CAN'T EVEN FIX A CLOCK, HOW DO I KNOW I AM SAFE IN MY NEW CAR? WHERE IS THE TEST TO CONFIRM I AM SAFE IN MY CAR AND THAT THE AIRBAGS WILL DEPLOY? WHEN I CONTACT FORD THEY SAY THE ENGINEERS ARE WORKING ON IT BUT IT HAS BEEN OVER 3.5 MONTHS AND NO ANSWERS. I FEEL UNSAFE, WHERE'S THE PROOF THE AIR BAGS WORK SINCE THE RE PROGRAM. 2 TIRES FROM SAME LOT ON BRAND NEW CAR HAVE BEEN DEFECTIVE IN ONE MONTH'S TIME, CAUSING BLOWOUT ON FREEWAY AT HIGH SPEED. THANKFULLY, NO INJURIES WERE INCURRED. THIS HAPPENED 100 MILES AWAY FROM NEAREST SERVICES, REQUIRING TOW TO NEAREST DEALERSHIP. FORD MOTOR COMPANY REPLACED EACH DEFECTIVE TIRE AT TIME OF INCIDENTS; HOWEVER, 2 REMAINING TIRES WILL NOT BE COVERED FOR REPLACEMENT UNTIL SUCH TIME AS THEY BECOME DEFECTIVE. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE ENTIRE LOT NUMBER IS DEFECTIVE AND THAT I MAY INCUR THE SAME PROBLEM IN THE FUTURE WITH THE REMAINING 2 TIRES WITH POSSIBLE LOSS OF LIFE AS A RESULT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE BOTH FRONT DOOR HANDLES WERE REPLACED FOR THE SECOND TIME. IN ADDITION, THE EXTERIOR REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR HANDLE WAS REPLACED ONE TIME. OUTSIDE TEMPERATURES WERE OVER 100F. VEHICLE CUTOFF - LOST ALL POWER AND WAS COASTING. SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL TO RESTART - WHICH IT DID. PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY CALLED HERTZ ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. VEHICLE CUTOFF AGAIN WHILE PARKED. DID NOT IMMEDIATELY RESTART. RESTARTED AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES. VEHICLE WAS TOWED BY HERTZ. *TR

I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW , WITHIN THE FIRST 600 MILES I TOOK A TRIP TO NORTHERN MICHIGAN ( ABOUT 200 MI. ) AND THE TRANSMISSION " BANGED " INTO 6TH GEAR EVERY TIME IT DOWN SHIFTED TO 5TH GOING UP ANY GRADE AND SHIFTED BACK TO 6TH, OTHER TIMES WHEN I GO TO PULL OUT OF SOMEWHERE IT WILL ACT LIKE ITS LOOKING FOR A GEAR BEFORE I BARELY START MOVING , HAD IT BACK TO FORD A NUMBER OF TIMES , THEY SAY ITS FINE ... NOW HAS 46000 ON IT , STILL DOES IT , HAVE CALLED AND SENT REGISTERED LETTERS TO FORD , THEY SAY BUY EXTENDED WARRANTY AND WORK WITH THE DEALER (LOL ).. THEY JUST CLAIM THEY CHECK IT AND EVEN ASK IF I THOUGHT ABOUT TRADING IT IN ... YA RIGHT....WHAT I WOULD LIKE IS FOR THEM TO FIX IT. SOMETIMES WHEN I BACK OUT OF A PARKING SPOT AND PUT IT IN DRIVE , IT THEN TOO DON'T GO , LOOKS FOR A GEAR FOR A FEW SECONDS (YOU CAN HEAR IT MAKING NOISE) THEN WILL TAKE OFF
CONSTANT LOSS OF COOLANT FROM NEW. HAVE TO TOP UP EVERY DAY AFTER APPROX 50 MILES. DEALER SAYS NO RECALL ALTHOUGH PREVIOUS YEARS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE MADE AN ABNORMAL SOUND AND STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF THE AIR CONDITIONING TO PREVENT THE FAILURE FROM RECURRING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200.
THE DOOR HANDLE STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION PREVENTING THE DOOR FROM LATCHING CLOSED. THE DEALER HAS TRIED TO RESOLVE THREE TIMES NOW AND IT'S CONTINUES TO GET HAPPEN AND IN FACT GETTING WORSE. FORD`S CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED BEGINNING ON JANUARY 19, 2014. LAST CONTACT WITH FORD`S CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER WAS ON AUGUST 26, 2014 WITH NO RESOLUTION. *TR
2014 FORD ESCAPE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO SHIELD AND GAS TANK DAMAGES. *SMD THE CONSUMER RAN OVER A METAL STRIP IN THE ROAD. THE METAL STRIP HE RAN OVER, PUNCTURED A HOLE IN THE SHIELD AND GAS TANK. THE DEALER REPLACED THE GAS TANK AND SHIELD. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE SHIELD WAS FLIMSY. *JB
STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY STOPPED WORKING WHEN I STOPPED AT A GAS STATION AND GAVE AN ERROR MESSAGE "STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED". CAR IS BARELY 3 MONTHS OLD. *TR
PULLED AWAY FROM A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE ESCAPE LOST ALL FORWARD MOTION. ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN BUT THERE WAS NO FORWARD MOVEMENT. VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED FROM THE LOCATION. *TR
I WAS WAITING IN LINE TO ENTER THE FREEWAY. A YELLOW WARNING SIGN CAME ON IN THE CAR, AND THEN THERE WAS NO CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL. IT LOCKED. I WAS ABLE TO CRANK ON IT WITH ALL MY STRENGTH, PUT ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS, AND MY DAUGHTER HUNG OUT THE WINDOW TO WAVE US OVER A FEW INCHES TO THE RIGHT. I THEN ENTERED A SAFE LOT TO CALL ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. BUT, WHILE I WAS ON THE PHONE WITH THEM, THE YELLOW LIGHT WENT OFF, AND THE CAR STEERING WHEEL MOVED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD ESCAPE. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE BATTERY WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT COASTED OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK. THE CONTACT WAITED FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THE VEHICLE RESTARTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AT AN UNKNOWN LOCATION WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,439.
MY REAR PASSENGER TIRE HAS A GROOVE CUT AROUND THE INSIDE OF THE TIRE WALL AND IN ABOUT FOUR SPOTS CUT RIGHT DOWN TO THE THREADS. THIS HAS CAUSED THE TIRE TO GO FLAT. I HAVE PHOTOS OF THE TIRE. *TR
MY CAR WAS STOPPED IN TRAFFIC AND SOME ONE HIT IT FROM BACK COMING AT A SPEED OF APPROX. 35-40 MILES/HOUR. DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGERS HIT THEIR FACES AND KNEES ON DASHBOARD. BOTH SEAT BELTS (DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE) DID NOT RESTRAIN AND STOP PASSENGERS MOVING FORWARD. WE HAVE NOTICED THIS PROBLEM ON BOTH SEAT BELTS (DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE) ON THIS CAR (2014 FORD ESCAPE SE) SINCE WE HAVE OWNED THIS CAR THAT BOTH SEAT BELTS (DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE) ARE VERY LOSE AND DOES NOT RESTRAIN WHEN PULLED SUDDENLY. THIS CAUSED THE BRUISING OF FACES AND KNEES OF PASSENGERS IN THIS ACCIDENT. IF SEAT BELTS WERE WORKING PROPERLY AND RESTRAINING PROPERLY THIS WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED. THIS PROBLEM COULD HAVE BEEN WORSE OR LIFE THREATENING IF A SIMILAR ACCIDENT WOULD HAVE OCCURRED ON A HIGHWAY. I NOW HAVE TOLD A FORD DEALER TO CHECK IT. I AM NOT SURE IF THIS PROBLEM IS ONLY ON MY CAR OR OTHER 2014 FORD ESCAPE SE MODEL OF CARS. PASSENGER OFF AIRBAG SENSOR RANDOMLY APPEARS WITH OR WITHOUT PASSENGERS IN THE SEAT. *TR
TRAVELLING CENTER LANE ON ROUTE 81, AT 65 MPH, CAR LOST ALL THROTTLE, FELT LIKE IT CAME OUT OF GEAR, WHILE DRIVING, AND COULD NOT GET INTO GEAR. MANAGED TO GET OFF TO SHOULDER. HAD A TRACTOR TRAILER BEEN BEHIND ME, THERE IS NO DOUBT THEY WOULD'VE HIT ME. APPARENTLY THE DEALERSHIP HAD 3 OTHER FORD ESCAPES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM IN THEIR SHOP. ANOTHER FRIEND OF MINE JUST PURCHASED HER FORD ESCAPE A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO, AND SHE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AS THIS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS TRAVELING AT 65MPH.
VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR NHTSA 14V-237 (SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT RECALL). AFTER THE WORK WAS SUPPOSEDLY DONE, THE CLOCK NO LONGER WORKS. THE COMPLAINT IS IF THE CLOCK NO LONGER WORKS WILL THE AIRBAGS WORK OR WHAT OTHER SAFETY FEATURES WERE AFFECTED THAT MY NOT WORK. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V284000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND SUGGESTED THAT THE DEALER REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER APPROXIMATELY 6-8 TIMES. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V495000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 8,764.
APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH AFTER PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE STRONG GAS FUMES WERE DETECTED COMING INSIDE THE CAR THROUGH THE VENTILATION SYSTEM. THE PROBLEM OCCURS ONLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS RESTARTED AFTER BEING WARMED UP. STILL UNDER WARRANTY WE RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS. THEY REPLACED A SHORT SECTION OF FLEXIBLE MANIFOLD HOSE THAT HAD DEVELOPED A CRACK. THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY FOR ABOUT A MONTH BEFORE RETURNING. AGAIN THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE SAME HOSE. THE REPAIR LASTED ABOUT ANOTHER MONTH OR SO. THE THIRD TIME IT WAS SERVICED THEY DID NOT REPLACE THE HOSE BUT WRAPPED IT WITH SILICONE DUCT TAPE TO SEAL IT. THIS REPAIR LASTED LESS THAN A WEEK. AGAIN GAS FUMES WERE DETECTED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. IT APPEARS THAT THE FORD COMPANY DOES NOT HAVE ANY IDEA HOW TO PERMANENTLY FIX THE PROBLEM. AT LEAST 3 OTHER INCIDENTS INVOLVING THE SAME MODEL VEHICLE HAVE OCCURRED AT THIS DEALERSHIP. IS THIS ANOTHER LOOMING RECALL? SATURDAY, JULY 12 AROUND 3:00 PM DRIVING 70 MPH ON US 23 N, JUST SOUTH OF NORTH TERRITORIAL ROAD NEAR ANN ARBOR. THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND THE ENGINE STOPPED. DRIFTED TO THE SHOULDER IN VERY HEAVY TRAFFIC AND TRIED TO RESTART. STARTED AND RAN FOR 5 SECONDS AND THEN STALLED AGAIN. REPEATED SEVERAL TIMES WITH SAME RESULT. CALLED ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE NUMBER AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD SEND A TOW WITHIN 30 MINUTES. POLICE STOPPED AND ASKED IF WE NEEDED HELP. LEFT AFTER WE SAID TOW WAS COMING. A FOLLOWING CAR TOOK ALL BUT ONE PASSENGER TO A GAS STATION AT NORTH TERRITORIAL BECAUSE HEAVY 75 MPH TRAFFIC PASSING INCHES FROM THE DRIVER'S DOOR WAS FRIGHTENING AND DANGEROUS. TOW TRUCK TOOK CAR TO VARSITY FORD IN ANN ARBOR AND WE CONTINUED TO TRAVERSE CITY IN THE FOLLOWING CAR. *TR
A WARNING MESSAGE CAME ON SAYING THAT THE BRAKE FLUID WAS LOW, AND THAT I NEEDED TO TAKE THE CAR TO A DEALER. I DROVE HOME, A SHORT DISTANCE, AND DECIDED TO CHECK THE FLUID MYSELF. WHEN I OPENED THE HOOD I FOUND THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR SITTING ON TOP OF THE ENGINE TIPPED DOWN SO THAT FLUID WAS NOT AVAILABLE TO THE BRAKE LINES. THERE WAS SOME FLUID LEFT BUT MOST HAD BEEN LOST. THE WARNING CAME ON WITHIN A FEW 100 YARDS OF MY HOME, IF I HAD BEEN ON A TRIP OR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THIS COULD HAVE BEEN VERY BAD. THE CAR WILL GO TO A DEALERSHIP TOMORROW. *JS
HAVE A ONE MONTH OLD 2014 FORD ESCAPE WITH 1,380 MILES ON IT. WHILE DRIVING WEST ON NEWLY PAVED I-94 IN ST. CLAIR COUNTY, MY TIRE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. TEN MINUTES LATER MY REAR PASSENGER TIRE BLEW IN FOUR SPOTS AROUND THE INSIDE OF THE TIRE. THE FORD DEALER TOLD ME I RAN OVER SOMETHING AND DISMISSED IT. THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH NO WARNING, WOULD NOT RESTART. HAVE HAD FOR 6 WEEKS. HAS BEEN AT DEALERSHIP AND THEY CANNOT IDENTIFY PROBLEM. 5 SENSORS ARE NOT COMMUNICATING FROM THE ENGINE. THE WIPERS STOPPED WORKING CORRECTLY. WITH THE HEADLIGHTS NOT ON, THE WIPERS WOULD WORK ERRATICALLY AND NOT EFFICIENTLY, CAUSING AN UNSAFE DRIVE DURING RAIN. ADDITIONALLY, WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS WERE TURNED ON, THE WIPERS STOPPED WORKING ALTOGETHER. TRYING TO RIDE HOME IN THE DARK WITH NO LIGHTS, NOR WIPERS FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY CAUSED AN UNSAFE SITUATION. ADDITIONALLY, THE SIGNALS AND PARKING LIGHTS ARE DIMMING AND NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE CAR IS PRESENTLY AT THE DEALER FOR TWO DAYS- HAS NOT BEEN LOOKED AT YET. *TR

POWER STEERING HAS GONE OUT IN THIS NEW VEHICLE 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS. WHEN LOOKED AT BY A TECHNICIAN, THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS WRONG. BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR OVER 20 DAYS. *TR
2014 FORD ESCAPE SE AWD WITH 1.6 ECOBOOST ENGINE. INFREQUENTLY UPON FULL THROTTLE ACCELERATION THE ENGINE BOGS DOWN. WHILE THE ENGINE DOES NOT STALL, POWER DISAPPEARS AND THEN POWER/ACCELERATION REBUILDS. IT HAS OCCURRED TWICE IN 3 MONTHS. VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS ~3000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I HAVE HEARD THAT AN INVESTIGATION IS UNDERWAY FOR WHAT SOUNDS LIKE A SIMILAR ISSUE WITH F150'S WITH A DIFFERENT ECOBOOST ENGINE - RELATED? *JS
AS RECOMMENDED IN LOW VISIBILITY SITUATIONS (FOG, DUST STORM, SNOW, ETC.) TO PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TURN OFF ALL YOUR LIGHTS, MY 2014 FORD ESCAPE WITH DAYLIGHT RUNNING LIGHTS (DRL) ARE UNABLE TO BE TURNED OFF EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK AND THE PARKING BRAKE SET DURING THE DAY OR NIGHT, THEREBY CAUSING A SAFETY HAZARD. THE ONLY WAY TO TURN OFF THE DRLS IS TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE, WHICH THEN PRODUCES ANOTHER HAZARD SINCE YOU CANNOT KEEP THE AC OR HEATER RUNNING AS NEEDED. I HAVE NOTIFIED BOTH FORD CORPORATE AND MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES WITH NO RESULTS OR CORRECTIVE ACTION PLAN.
