GAS CAP FAILED. YH
FOLD DOWN SEAT.
ENGINE WOULD HAVE SEVERE VIBRATION. ITS VERY NOTICEABLE WHEN VEHICLE IS IDLING. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP, AND WAS INFORMED THAT VIBRATION WAS NORMAL.*AK
DEALER SAID IT WAS NORMAL TO PUT IN A QUART OF OIL EVERY THOUSAND MILES. CONSUMER DOES NOT AGREE, NONE OF PRIOR VEHICLES NEEDED THAT MUCH OIL.*AK
FORD MOTOR COMPANY CONTACTED--THEY DENY LIABILITY--DEALER CONTACTED-IGNORED EYE WITNESS STATEMENT. TIRE SNAPPED OFF TIE ROD ASSEMBLY AND CAUSED VEHICLE TO GO OFF ROAD-- NO HELP FROM THE DEALERSHIP-- ACCIDENT OCCURED AS RESULT OF TIRE SNAPPING OFF THE TIE ROAD RIGHT AT THE LOCK NUT JOINT. THERE IS NO EVIDNECE OF STEEL BENDING. IT JUST SHATTERED.
TIE ROD BROKE CAUSING TIRE TO COLLASPE INWARD RESULTING IN DAMAGE AND LOSS OF CONTROL.
THE FONT WIPER HAVE QUIT WORKING AND HAVE BEEN FIXED ON FOUR OCCASIONS WITH NEW SWITCHES, THE REAR WIPERS HAVE FAILED ON THREE OCCASIONS AND HAS HAD 3 MOTORS REPLACED, THE REAR WIPER IS CURRENTLY INOPERATIVE, THE MANUFACTURER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM.
SEAT BELT ADJUSTER FAILED. YH
REAR WINDOW WIPER INOPERABLE. YH
AIR COMPRESSOR FOR SUSPENSION FAILED. YH
LEFT FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER AND STRUT FAILED. YH
GAS CAP WOULD NOT CLOSE/LOCK CAUSING THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON. *YC
BRAKE LIGHT FAILED. YH
AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS VEHICLE VIBRATES EXCESSIVELY. DEALER HAS INSPECTED VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES, AND HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHEN APPLYING BRAKES TO COME TO A STOP, VEHICLE WILL ACCELERATE AS IF THE GAS PEDAL IS BEING DEPRESSED. IT IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM AND ONLY OCCURS WHEN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. SURGE CONTINUES AS LONG AS PRESSURE IS APPLIED ON THE BRAKES, AND STOPS WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS RELEASED AND THE CAR IS PUT INTO NEUTRAL. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, UNABLE TO FIND PROBLEM. *AK *ML
AT VERY SLOW SPEEDS BRAKES DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY--BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO FLOOR, VIBRATES AS IF ABS IS OPERATING AND VEHICLE SLOWLY COASTS TO A STOP, RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. ABS LIGHT GOES ON. BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT ABS SENSORS REPLACED AND INCIDENTS STILL OCCURRED. *AK *ML
VEHICLE ELECTRONICS SYSTEM FAILED TO THE 4-WHEEL DRIVE TRANSMISSION UNIT. YH
TRANSMISSION FAILED.
REAR DRIVER SIDE LUG NUTS FAILED CAUSING VEHICLE TO FISH TAIL, ROLLING OVER 4-5 TIMES RESTING UPSIDE DOWN. TWO ADULT AND THREE CHILDREN AGES 5,12 AND 18 INVOLVED IN THE CRASH. ONE ADULT SUFFERED BROKEN NECK IN TWO PLACES AND CRUSHED DISC. ONE WEEK HOSPITAL STAY WITH SURGERY TO REMOVE CRUSHED DISC AND FUSION OF TWO VERTIBRAE. OTHER ADULT AND TWO CHILDREN SUFFERED MINOR CUTS AND ABRAISIONS ONE CHILD EJECTED FROM VEHICLE ONTO HIGHWAY.
MY VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN RECALL 98S14 AND DEALER DID NOT HAVE REPLACEMENT LUG NUTS, SO THEY TIGHTENED THE DEFECTIVE ONES. WE WERE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT WHERE THE WHEEL SHEERED OFF AT THE LUG NUTS ROLLING OUR VEHICLE OVER 4-5 TIMES. I SUFFERED A BROKEN NECK IN TWO PLACES AND A CRUSHED DISC WHICH HAD TO BE REMOVED AN THE VERTIBRAE FUSED. I FEEL FORD WAS NEGLIGENT AND RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACCIDENT. WE ARE CURRENTLY SEEKING LEGAL ADVISE.
WHILE DRIVING 55MPH STEERING HAS ALOT OF PLAY IN THE WHEEL WHICH MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO KEEP THE VEHICLE ON THE ROAD. CONSUMER CONTACTED DEALER AND MANUFACTURER. *AK

BOLT ON SHOULDER HARNESS FELL OFF AND SEAT BELT FELL INTO DRIVER LAP DURING A NORMAL STOP.
LUG NUTS FELL OFF CAUSING WHEEL TO DETACH AND VEHICLE COLLISION.
THE BOLTS HOLDING THE TRAILER HITCH RECEIVER TO THE FRAME CAME LOOSE TO THE POINT THEY ALMOST FELL FROM THEIR HOLES. IF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED WHEN PULLING A TRAILER THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A DISASTER WITH A LOOSE TRAILER ON THE HIGHWAY. THE DEALER NOR THE FORD CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER CANNOT TELL ME WHAT THEY BOLTS SHOULD BE TORQUED TO OTHER THAN VERY TIGHT. *AK
BRAKE AND GAS PEDAL SEEM TO BE TOO CLOSE TOGETHER. NUMEROUS TIMES CONSUMER APPLIED BRAKE PEDAL AND ENDED UP ON GAS PEDAL AT SAME TIME. BEEN TO DEALER WHO SAID THAT WAS JUST THE WAY THESE VEHICLES WERE DESIGNED. *AK THE VEHICLE HAS A DESIGN FLAW, ACCORDING TO THE CONSUMER. *YH
RIGHT REAR WHEELS ARE MISSING THREE BOLTS AND LUGS WHICH HAVE SHEARED OFF. DEALER CONTACTED. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFROMATION.*AK
AFTER MAKING A TURN THE WHEELS NEVER STRAIGHTENED UP. THEN THE WHEELS CAME OFF, AND THE VEHICLE HIT A BRICK EMBANKMENT. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK

LEFT FRONT CONTROL ARM SEPARATED FROM KNUCKLE CAUSING WHEEL TO COLLAPSE DUE TO FAILURE OF A NUT.
ABS SENSOR FAILED. YH
WHEN DRIVING AT A VERY SLOW SPEED ANDCOMING TO A STOP LIGHT APPLIED THE BRAKES, AND ABS SYSTEM KICKED IN, AND BRAKE PEDAL WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOORBOARD. CONSUMER HAS TO STEP ON THE PARKING BARKE FOR VEHICLE TO SLOW DOWN. *AK
POSSIBLE SUSPENSION FAILED CAUSED VEHICLE TO VIBRATE. YH
THE CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THE FAILURE OF THE TIRES. WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS IN THE PROCESS OF MAKING A RIGHT TURN, THE TIRE FELL OFF OF THE VEHICLE, CAUSING THE CONSUMER TO RUN INTO A CONCRETE STRUCTURE. MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. APPLIED BRAKES AND VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP, CAUSING VEHICLE TO CRASH. DEALER CANNOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
SUSPENSION WARNING LIGHT SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONING EVER SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW IN 07-1998. *CB
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE STALLS. THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY WENT INTO 4WD LOW, BRING THE VEHICLE TO A NEAR STOP. WHEN VEHICLE WAS CRANKED THE NEXT MORNING, BY THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER, HE NOTICED THAT THE 4WD INDICATOR WAS ON EVENTHOUGH THE SWITCH WAS NOT IN THAT POSITION.
VEHICLE HAD A CYLINDER HEAD FAILURE BLOWING SPARK PLUG OUT OF THE #4 CYLINDER CAUSING GAS TO PUMP OUT OVER ENGINE. ESTIMATED COST TO REPAIR BY GREEN VALLEY FORD $4100.00. *AK
TRANSMISSION FAILED. YH
REC'D NOTICE 98V095000 & NOTIFIED DEALERSHIP. TOOK VEHICLE TO 2 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS & BOTH TIMES INFORMED VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE LEFT FOR 3 DAYS. DON'T KNOW WHEN ABLE TO GET TO VEHICLE & DO NOT KNOW IF PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE. OWNER NOT SATISFIED WITH ANSWERS, AND CANNOT LEAVE VEHICLE THAT LONG. *AK
CONSUMER EXPERIENCING PROBLEM WITH STEERING WHILE DRIVING ABOVE 30 MPH. STEERING BECOMES DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. VEHICLE BEEN IN THE DEALER SHOP, AND CAUSE CANNOT FOUND AT THIS TIME, DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
CONSUMER COMPLAINED OF DEALER / MANUFACTURER NOT HONORING RECALL NOTICE CONCERNING LUGS: NUTS. RECALL NOTICE INFOMED CONSUMER THAT A SECOND NOTICE WOULD BE SENT AS OF THIRD QUARTER. IT IS ALRESADY THE FOURTH QUARTER AND NO NOTICE WAS RECEIVED. DEALER IS UNABLE TO GET PARTS. *AK
CONSUMER COMPLAINED THAT MFR./DEALER NOT HONORING MFR. RECALL NOTICE #98S-14/ NHTSA #98V-095 000 CONCERNING LUGS: NUTS MAY NOT CREATE SUFFICIENT CLAMP LOAD, ALLOWING WHEEL MOVEMENT IN RELATION TO THE HUB/ ROTOR MOUNTING SURFACE. *AK
LUG NUTS FAILED PRIOR TO RECALL. *YC
THE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR BROKE. DUE A DEFECTIVE BOLT THE BELT SLIPPED OFF, AND THE CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY. ALSO, THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT KEPT COMING ON. UPON NOTIFICATION OF DEALER, THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE LIGHT WAS ON BECAUSE OF THE BELT SLIPPING OFF. REPAIR WORK WAS DONE. THE BOLTS WERE REPLACED, AND THE LIGHT STILL CAME ON. THE DEALER CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.
