THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM THAT OCCURS WHEN GOING AROUND A CURVE, THE TENSIONER ON THE WHEELS GIVES WAY, AND THE TRUCK WILL SWERVE ACROSS THE ROAD. *AK
RIGHT FRONT WHEEL CAME OFF AXLE CAUSING VEHICLE TO LOSE CONTROL RESULTING IN A VEHICLE COLLISION.
THERE IS AN EXCESSIVE PLAY IN THE CONTROL ARM. DRIVER HEARS A GRINDING NOISE EVERYTIME THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT DURING ANY TYPE OF WEATHER OR SPEED. *AK

WHEN DRIVING IN THE RAIN THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WILL WORK INTERMITTENTLY, AT TIMES CAUSING THE CONSUMER TO HAVE VISIBILITY PROBLEMS. DEALER CAN'T DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT PORTION OF ROAD, VEHICLE VEERED TO THE RIGHT, TURNED WHEEL TO THE LEFT AND HIT A GUARDRAIL. FLEW ABOUT 50-60 FEET OVER A CREEK AND ROLLED OVER, INJURING BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED.
ABS SENSOR FAILED CAUSING THE ABS LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. NLM
WHEEL LUGS MALFUNCTIONED. *YC

STABILIZER LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY, AND THERE IS A CLICKING SOUND FROM FRONT OF VEHICLE WHEN MAKING TURNS. VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALER 4-5 TIMES, CANNOT FIND A PROBLEM.*AK

THIS HAPPENS PERIODICALLY WHEN CONSUMER IS AT A STOP LIGHT THE TRUCK BEGINS TO ROAR AND PULL FORWARD WHILE FOOT IS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. ALSO, THE RPM GOES OVER 7,OOO, HAVE TO PUT THE TRUCK IN NEUTRAL AND THE CUT THE TRUCK OFF, AND THEN CUT IT BACK ON.
VEHICLE TRAVELING AT 45 MPH WHEN REAR RIGHT WHEEL FELL OFF.

RIGHT REAR WHEEL FELL OFF OF VEHICLE.
FRONT RIGHT TORSION BAR BROKE AND FELL OFF, CAUSING VEHICLE TO LEAN. DEALER REPORTS HE HAS 5 FORD VEHICLES WITH SAME PROBLEM, 3 PICKUPS AND 2 EXPEDITIONS. FORD HAS A FACTORY BACKLOG ON THIS PART. THIS IMPRESSES ME THAT IT IS A COMMON SAFETY PROBLEM ON THESE FORD VEHICLES. *AK
SEAT BELT PLASTIC MOLDING FAILED. *YC
REPEATED PROBLEM THAT HAS ESCALATED TO A SUGGESTED ENGINE REPLACEMENT. THE #4 COIL HAS BEEN REPAIRED 10 TIMES. THE VEHICLE WARRANTY AND EXTENDED WARRANTY HAVE BEEN EXHAUSTED. FORD HAS REPEATLY FAILED TO FIND THE REAL PROBLEM. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT REPRESENTATIVES AND SUPERVISOR HAVE SAID THAT THERE'S NOTHING FORD CAN DO ABOUT MY PROBLEM. "IT'S THE FORD POLICY."*AK
ENGINE CONTINUOUSLY LOSES COOLANT AND OVERHEATS, REPAIR ATTEMPTS, HOWEVER PROBMEM CONTINUES.
WAS OUT DRIVING WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME UNCONTROLLABLE. HAD TENDENCY TO OVERSTEER. TOOK TO DEALER & MECHANIC INFORMED OWNER THAT A PINCHED STEEERING HOSE WAS FOUND & NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED. *AK.

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
THE WINDOWS OF THE CONSUMER'S 1998 FORD EXPEDITION LEAKED DAMAGING THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. *NM *NM

ADHESIVE ON ROOF LINER FAILED.
EXCESSIVE SUSPENSION PROBLEMS. CROSS MEMBER BOLTS FOR PROPER TORQUE WERE NOT TIGHT AND THE CROSS MEMBER AND LOWER CONTROL ARM BOLTS WERE OUT OF THE TORQUE SPECS.
UPON MODERATE ACCELERATION, AFTER STOPPING, THE ENGINE HESITATES AND THEN ACCELERATES. ONLY OCCURS WHEN FUEL TANK IS AT OR BELOW 1/4 FULL.

OWNER STATES WHILE DRIVNG VEHICLE,THERE IS NOISE IN THE REAR END. DEALERS CANNOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM. OWNER IS VERY CONCERNED OF POSSIBLE SAFETY HAZARD. *AK
POOR GAS MILEAGE. WINDOW STICKER WHEN PURCHASED CLAIMED (16) HIGHWAY. DRIVER CLAIMS VEHICLE ONLY GET 13 MILES TO THE GALLON. DEALER STATES THAT STICKER IS NOT TRUE.
IF THE STEERING WHEEL IS NOT CENTERED, THE TURN SIGNALS WILL NOT WORK. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
VEHICLE WAS STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE SIDE, CAUSING CONSUMER'S VEHICLE TO STRIKE A TREE DEAD CENTER AT 30 MPH, AND THERE WAS NO DEPLOYMENT OF DRIVER'S OR PASSENGER'S SIDE AIRBAGS. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. *AK
VEHICLE STALLS WHEN LEAVING STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. VERY DANGERIOUS PROBLEM AS VEHICLE STALLS IN FRONT OF ON COMMING TRAFFIC, THAT EITHER HAS TO PANIC BRAKE OR SWERVE TO AVOID STRIKING THE STALLED VEHICLE.
THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL CAME OFF THE VEHICLE DUE TO A BROKEN LUG:NUT. DEALER HAS VEHICLE NOW. *AK
RECALL FOR LUGS: NUTS ALSO AFFECTS BRAKE HUB AREA OF VEHICLE. DUE TO UNDERTORQUEING, BRAKE ROTORS WARPED. ALSO OVERTORQUEING CAUSES DIFFICULTY IN CHANGING TIRE IN THE EVENT OF A FLAT. *AK
WHEN DRIVING VEHICLE IF THE GAS GAUGE IS BELOW 1/4, THE VEHICLE STOPS. BEFORE THE LAST REPAIR, THIS HAPPEND IF THE GAUGE WAS BELOW 1/2 TANK. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO FORD DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS 4 TO 5 TIMES SINCE NOVEMBER 14, 1997. THREE DAYS AFTER CONSUMER BOUGHT VEHICLE . THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED GAS GAUGES, AND THE LAST TIME THEY REPLACED THE FUEL SENDING UNIT. *AK
