PE00-020; FIRESTONE , WILDERNESS AT P255/70R16 WITH ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT FORD EXPEDITION 1999, CONSUMER EXPERIENCED 2 BLOWOUTS,ONCE WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH WITH 10-15,000 MILES, AND ANOTHER WHILE DRIVING AT APRROXIMATELY 60 MPH. WITH 17-20,000 MILES. CONSUMER DECIDED TO REPLACE REST OF TIRES. *AK THE CUSTOMER REPLACED FAILED TIRES AS WELL AS OTHERS DUE TO SAFETY CONCERN. *YH
PE-00-020-TIRE ON A 1999 FORD EXPEDITION TIRE, SIZE NOT AVAILABLE, AND DOT NUMBER NOT AVAILABLE. TIRES ONLY HAVE 10 THOUSAND MILE ON THEM. CONSUMER NOTED THAT TIRES HAS CRACKED AROUND THE SIDEWALL AREA. TIRES HAVE A 2-3 INCH CRACK ON THE TIRES, AND TREAD COULD BE PULLED BACK AT THE SIDEWALL WHICH EXPOSED THE RUBBER PORTION OF THE TIRE. DRIVEN FOR 20 MINUTES AND LET SIT 20 MINUTES, AND IT HESITATED AND RAN ROUGHLY UNTIL COOLDOWN 3 TO 4 HOURS, RUNS BETTER. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING? EVERYTIME I DRIVE AND LET IT SIT FOR 20 MINUTES IT RUNS LIKE THIS. ALSO, ENGINE CHECK LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF.
DEVELOPED A SEPARATION ( SPLIT ) IN OUTER SIDEWALL OF TIRE. *AK( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P255/70R16 )
WE WERE INVOLVED IN A TWO-VEHICLE CRASH WITH MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF OUR SUV. MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING AND I WAS A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT. NEITHER OF OUR AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. WE WERE BOTH WEARING OUR SEAT/SHOULDER BELTS. WHEN WE COLLIDED, MY SEATBELT DID NOT CATCH, AND I HIT THE DASHBOARD. I WAS TRANSPORTED TO RUSSELLVILLE HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE. I SUFFERED BRUISING TO MY CHIN AND BOTH SHINS. FOLLOWING OUR ACCIDENT, A RUSSELLVILLE POLICE OFFICER (ALONG WITH A MEMBER OF OUR FIRE DEPARTMENT) WENT BACK TO MY VEHICLE AND JERKED ON THE SEATBELT TO TRY TO GET IT TO CATCH AND HE COULD NOT. I AM CONTINUING TO HAVE PAIN IN MY JAW AND MY BACK. MY HUSBAND TOLD THE BODY SHOP MANAGER AT LONG LEWIS FORD OF MUSCLE SHOALS, AL ABOUT OUR AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOYING AND MY SEATBELT NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE FAULTY SEATBELT HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM OUR VEHICLE AND IS IN MY POSSESSION. *AK

REARVIEW MIRRORS ON PASSENGER'S AND DRIVER'S SIDES ARE DETERIORATING. CONSUMER CAN'T SEE OUT OF MIRRORS. CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER STATED THAT MIRRORS WERE DEFECTIVE. BUT, CONSUMER'S WARRANTY EXPIRED. *AK
DURING FRONT COLLISION AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DURING REPAIRS MECHANIC SAID SENSOR MOVED, BUT AIR BAGS STILL DIDN'T DEPLOY. *AK *ML
BACKED INTO A LIGHT POLE IN A PARKINGLOT. ENGINE STARTED TO "REV" WHILE STILL IN REVERSE. WITH MY FOOT STILL ON THE BRAKE, I SHIFTED FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE. AT THAT TIME, THE CAR ACCELERATED FORWARD AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED, HITTING A CAR AND GOING THROUGH A STOREFRONT WALL. I HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE THE ENTIRE TIME (PICTURES SHOW THE TIRE MARKS THE ENTIRE WAY). WHEELS CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AFTER CAR WAS STOPPED BY DEBRI, BURNING HOLES IN THE CARPET OF THE STORE. HARD TO SAY WHAT THE CAUSE WAS AT THIS TIME. LAWYER REFERS TO IT AS "SUDDEN ACCELERATION SYNDROME" BUT THIS WAS RELATED TO HITTING THE POLE. *AK
THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM FIRESTONE WILDERNESS AT OWL TIRE, CURRENTLY THE 17 INCH TIRES ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL (P265/70R17). NLM
THE TIRE ON MY SUV SEPARATED SO BAD THAT IT LOOKED SHREDDED OFF ON THE RIM. I DIDNT THINK MUCH ABOUT IT AT THE TIME UNTIL THE FIRESTONE RECALL ON THE SAME BRAND TIRE. ACCORDING TO WHAT IVE SEEN AND READ, FIRESTONE IS SAYING THEY ONLY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE 15 INCH TIRE NOT THE 17. I DISAGREE AFTER SEEING PICTURES ON TV AND IN THE PAPER, MY TIRE LOOKED THE SAME. CONSUMER WAS DRIVING AT 65 MPH , WENT TO APPLY BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN ,BUT THEY DID NOT WORK PROPERLY. INSTEAD, VEHICLE BEGAN TO REV PASSED 5000 RPMS. CONSUMER HAD TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL . DEALER COULD DUPLICATE DEFECT. BUT REPLACED THROTTLE CONTROL MECHANISM , HOWEVER, COULD NOT GUARANTEE THAT IT WILL SOLVE DEFECT.*AK
CONSUMER'S MOTORIZED SEATBELT WAS DEFECTIVE. HE WAS DRIVING WITH HIS DAUGHTER ATTACHED TO THE SEATBELT WITH HER SAFETY CARRIER. HE CAME TO AN ABRUPT STOP, THE BOLT CAME LOOSE, AND THE CAR SEAT BECAME DETACHED FROM THE SEAT AND FLEW UP FRONT. CHILD WASN'T HURT. CONSUMER NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY WEREN'T INTERESTED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 60MPH RIGHT REAR TIRE BLEWOUT . DEALER SAID IT WAS OWNER'S FAULT. OWNER REPLACED IT WITH THE SAME TYPE OF TIRE. *AK FIRESTONE WILDERNESS P255/70/R16 * MW
ALL FOUR TIRES ARE DRY ROTTING ON THE TREAD AND FORD AND GENERAL WILL NOT REPLACE THE TIRES AT THERE COST. SINCE ALL FOUR TIRES HAVE THE SAME ISSUE, THIS APPEARS TO BE A DEFECT IN THE TIRE. ATTACHED IS AN EMAIL I SENT TO GENERAL TIRE AND FORD, NEITHER OF WHICH OFFERED ANY ASSISTANCE OTHER THAN POINT THE FINGER AT EACH OTHER. EMAIL: I OWN A 1999 FORD EXPEDITION WITH GRABBER AW 255-R70-16 TIRES. IN JANUARY MY WIFE BROUGHT IN THE CAR TO FORD FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AND POINTED OUT UNUSUAL WARE ON THE TIRES. FORD SAID IT WAS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. I LET IT GO. BECAUSE OF ALL THE FIRESTONE ISSUES I DECIDED TO INSPECT MY TIRES IN AUGUST, AND DISCOVERED THAT THEY APPEAR TO BE DRY ROTTING ON THE OUTER TREADS ON ALL FOUR TIRES. I CALLED YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER AND WAS TOLD TO GO TO SEARS AND HAVE THEM INSPECT MY TIRES. I DID THIS AND THE YOUNG MAN WHO HANDLES THE REGISTER MADE A TWO MINUTE INSPECTION OF MY TIRES AND SAID THE DRY ROTTING WAS NOT SEVERE AND NOT EFFECTING THE TIRE.( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 255-R70-16 )

DRIVING ON EXPRESSWAY, TIRE FAILED, PULLED OVER TO SIDE OF ROAD, TREAD GONE, NOTHING BUT SIDEWALLS REMAINED. TOOK TIRE TO DEALER, SAID IT WAS RUN ON THE RIM FOR EXTENSIVE TIME, THIS WAS NOT TRUE. PAID FOR NEW TIRE AS WELL AS NEW RIM.( DOT NUMBER: W2T6IRE368 TIRE SIZE: P265/70R17 )
L/F TIRE BLEW OUT (PEELED OFF) BETWEEN 65-70 MPH, I WAS ABLE TO KEEP TO MAINTAIN CONTROL AND PULL OVER SAFELY TO SHOULDER AND CHANGE TIRE.( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 255/70R16 )
AT 65 MPH ON INTERSTATE 90, THE ELECTRONIC SHIFTER DID AN UNCOMMANDED TRANSITION FROM AUTOMATIC-4-DRIVE TO 4-WHEEL-LOW. DRIVER MANAGED TO MAINTAIN CONTROL AND AVOID A CRASH AT LARGELY DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE INCIDENT HAPPENED AT 11PM UNDER VERY LIGHT TRAFFIC CONDITONS. NO INDICATION OF WHY WAS FOUND BY THE DEALER ALTHOUGH THE COMPUTER CODES VERIFIED THE SHIFT TRANSITION. DEALER INDICATED THAT SOME CORROSION WAS FOUND ON THE ELECTRONIC SHIFTER CONTACTS AND IT WAS REPLACED. AT THE PRESENT TIME, DEALER MAINTAINS THAT NO DAMAGE WAS DONE TO THE ENGINE OR DRIVETRAIN ALTHOUGH LOUD BANGS AND METAL GRINDING SOUNDS WERE HEARD WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. THE ENGINE ALSO INDICATED MOMENTARY REDLINING. THE EXPLAINATION OF "CORRISION" STILL INDICATES A SERIOUS CONTROL SYSTEM DESIGN FLAW WHEREBY AN UNCOMMANDED OPERATION ON THE UNIT OPERATING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS CAN FORCE THE TRANSITION FROM AUTOMATIC-4-WHEEL TO 4-WHEEL-LOW AT CRUISING SPEEDS. *AK
WHEN STEPPING ON THE GAS FROM A COMPLETE STOP THE CAR LOSES POWER AND NERALY STALLS. ONCE WHEN ACCELERATING ON AN ON-RAMP THE CAR NEARLY STALLED AND ONCE WHEN STARTING FROM A COMPLETE STOP THE CAR DID STALL. THE DEALER CANNOT DUPLICATE THIS PROBLEM AND SEEMS UNWILLING TO TRY TOO HARD. THEY SAID THAT THEY SPOKE WITH FORD AND FORD SAID THAT THERE WERE NO OTHER COMPLAINTS LIKE THIS. IT HAS HAPPENED TO BOTH DRIVERS OF THE VEHICLE. AND IT HAS HAPPENED APPROX. 25 TIMES. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SERVICE DEPT. AT THE DEALER FOUR TIMES AND STILL NOT FIXED!*AK
REAR PASSENGER TIRE BLEWOUT...SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT THEN THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY DROPPED ONTO THE RIM,II COASTED TO A STOP. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO A FIRESTONE DEALER, ASKED THE TECHNICIAN WHAT COULD CAUSE THIS TO OCCUR ON A TIRE WITH LESS THAN 3000 MILES ON IT. HE SAID HE COULDN'T TELL, BUT BECAUSE OF THE LOCATION OF THE RUPTURE HE DIDN'T THINK I RAN OVER ANYTHING. HE SAID I WAS "LUCKY TO HAVE FIRESTONE TIRES BECAUSE THE RUPTURE WAS SO CLOSE TO THE SIDEWALL ON A CHEAPER TIRE IT WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO BE REPAIRED. VEHICLE BEGINS TO VIBRATE AT 73-75 MPH. PROBLEM CANNOT BE EXACTLY LOCATED OR CORRECTED BY DEALER OR MANUFACTURER. DEALER INSTALLED A VIBRATION DAMPENER. ACTUAL SOURCE/REASON FOR PROBLEM WAS NEVER FOUND. *AK
ON SUNDAY WINDSHIELD WIPERS STARTED GOINIG CRAZY.THEY STARTED TO GO ON AND OFF FOR 5 MINUTES AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO SHUT THEM OFF.FINALLY MY HUSBAND PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF, AND THE WIPERS SHUT OFF.THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED .ON TUESDAY AT ABOUT 7:56 AM I WAS DRIVING TO GO TO A GAS STATION AND AS I WAS TURNING TO THE LEFT I HEARD A LOUD SOUND THAT SOUNDED LIKE AN EXPLOSION AND THE TRUCK TURNED OFF.I TRIED TUNRING THE CAR ON SINCE I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR TURNING OFF BEFORE AND I REALIZED THAT THE CAR WAS SMOKING FRON THE INSIDE.I TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM OUTSIDE THEY DID NOT OPEN. SO IN FEAR THAT THE CAR WOULD BLOW UP THAT I TRIED TO START THE CAR AND IT STARTED. I OPENED THE DOOR QUICKLY BEFORE THE CAR BLEW UP.THEN THE THE PLASTIC STARTED TO BURN UNDER THE RUNNING BOARD AND BY THE TIME THE FIRE DEPT CAME THE INSIDE OF THE CAR WAS ON FIRE.THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP.THE INSIDE OF THE CAR WAS DESTROYED. *AK

LAST YEAR, AS WE APPROACHED ABOUT 9,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, WE NOTICED EXCESSIVE VIBRATION ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY. WE HAD THE TIRES BALANCED -- FIRST AT A RETAIL TIRE STORE. THIS DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. WE THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BE SERVICED AT A FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE THE TIRES WERE AGAIN BALANCED. THE VIBRATION CONTINUED EVEN AFTER FORD PERFORMED THEIR OWN BALANCING. IT SEEMS THESE TIRES COULD NOT AND CANNOT BE PROPERLY BALANCED. THE SITUATION HAS WORSENED OVER TIME WHERE EVEN AT LOWER AROUND TOWN SPEEDS, THE VIBRATION IS READILY EVIDENT. THERE ARE ALSO NOTICEABLE CRACKS IN THE TREADS; IT ALMOST LOOKS LIKE DRY ROT! THE AIR PRESSURE IN THE TIRES HAVE BEEN METICULOUSLY MONITORED IN ORDER TO MAXIMIZE OUR GAS MILEAGE; SO WE KNOW AIR PRESSURE IS NOT THE CULPRIT. AS PARENTS OF TWO SMALL CHILDREN, ONE 5 YEAR OLD BOY AND A 2 YEAR OLD GIRL, WE NOW FEAR FOR OUR FAMILY'S SAFETY AFTER SEEING WHAT HAPPENS WITH THESE TIRES. ALL FOUR TIRES STARTED SEPERATING / CRACKING AROUND 11/99 . TOOK VEHICILE TO FIRESTONE DEALER 08/00 THEY INSPECTED TIRES AND SAID IT WAS NORMAL . I ASKED FOR A RECIEPT THEY SAID THEY DO NOT GIVE RECIEPTS FOR INSPECTIONS. I TOLD THEM I NEVER HAD TIRES DO THAT BEFORE . THEY HAD NO COMMENT. I ASSURE YOU TIRES WITH 35000 MILES SHOULD NOT DO THAT. I SENT LETTERS TO FORD & FIRESTONE THEY NEVER ADDRESSED MY CONCERNS. THATS WHY I CONTACTED NHTSA( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 265/70/17 )
I WAS DRIVING TO NYC AND WENT TO PARK IN A REST AREA AND AS I WAS TURNING TO PARK THE CAR SHUT OFF.I TURNED IT ON AGAIN AND IT WAS FINE.ONE HOUR LATER AGAIN WHILE DRIVING AND MAKING A RIGHT TURN THE LIGHT IN THE DASH BOARD TURNED ON AND THE RADIO SHUT OFF AND THEN IT THE TRUCK DROVE FINE.THE NEXT DAY I WENT OVER A SMALL BREAK ON THE ROAD AND THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH BOARD WENT ON AND THE RADIO OFF AND LIKE ALWAYS I HAD NO PROBLEMS DRIVING IT HOME.ON 10-30-99 I WAS DRIVING AND I COULD NOT GO FASTER THAN 35 MILES IT FELT LIKE THE CAR LOCK OR I WAS DRIVING IN NEUTRAL AND ALL THE SUDDEN THE TRUCK TOOK SPEED AND IT WAS DRIVING FINE UNTIL I TRIED TURNING RIGHT THE STERING WHEEL BECAME HARD TO TURN AND IT WAS MAKING A CLICK CLICK SOUND WHEN I TURN THE STERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT.IWAS ABLE TO DRIVE HOME AS LONG AS I DIDN'T TURN RIGHT.AFTER I PARK THE CAR I TURN THE WHEEL TO THE RIGHT AND IT CONTINUED ON MAKING THE CLICK CLICK SOUND.
VEHICLE VIBRATION AT SPEEDS OF 65 MPH OR HIGHER. BURNING SMELLS COMING FROM UNDER HOOD AND VEHICLE SMOKE FROM UNDER HOOD.
AFTER PARKING VEHICLE EXPLODED IN FLAMES, TOTALED. ONLY 2000 MILES. FORD SAID RECALL 98V312 DOES NOT APPLY. PROBLEM MAY BE MORE PERVASIVE THAN FORD THINKS. STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION.
OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS, THERE HAVE BEEN TWO INCIDENCES WHERE VEHICLE HAS LOST ENGINE POWER WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED BOTH TIMES, VEHICLE REGAINS POWER AFTER THE ENGINE IS SHUT OFF FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES, THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED FOR THIS PROBLEM 4 TIMES, DEALERSHIP IS NOT ABLE TO DUPLICATE MALFUNCTION AND THEREFORE COULD NOT SOLVE PROBLEM. THE CENTER SEAT BELT IS INCAPABLE OF RESTRAINING ANY CAR SEAT SNUGGLY. I HAVE CONTACTED MY FORD DEALER AND FORD, AND THEY HAVE NO FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. NO ONE I KNOW HAS BEEN ABLW TO GET A CHILD SEAT IN THIS CENTER POSITION SECURELY. PLEASE HELP! *AK
WE ARE UNABLE TO SAFELY, AND SNUGLY SECURE ANY TYPE OF CHILD SEAT OTHER THAN AN INFANT SEAT IN THE CENTER POSITION. THE SEAT BELT BUCKLE RECEIVINGEND IS TOO FAR FORWARD TO ALLOW A CAR SEAT TO BE SECURED TIGHTLY. WHILE DRIVING COULD SMELL ENGINE BURNING OIL WHICH CAME THROUGH THE VENTS. THERE WAS NO OIL LEAKING. COIL BROKE IN THE ENGINE/ WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULD COME ON BY THEMSELF, WHILE THE REAR WIPER DOES NOT WORK AT ALL/ PASSENGER DOOR PANEL WAS LOOSE & CAME OFF/ ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WOULD CAUSE LIGHTS TO FLICKER ON & OFF, AND FUEL GAUGE FAILED TO REGISTER THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF FUEL WHEN FILLED.*AK
BOUGHT NEW CAR 8/11/99. ON 9/27/99 AT 2, 284 MILES THE VEHICLE STARTED SHOWING SIGNS OF TRANSMISSION FAILURE. THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEARS PROPERLY AND WOULD LUNGE FORWARD. FORD REPLACE THE CONTROL MODULE. THEY TOOK IT FOR A TEST DRIVE AND IT FAILED IMMEDIATELY. THEY REPLACED IT WITH ANOTHER. THE VEHICLE WAS FINALLY READY FOR US TO PICK UP ON 10/15/99. THREE MILES AWAY FROM THE DEALERSHIP, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AGAIN. WE TOOK IT BACK IMMEDIATELY. FORD REPLACED IT AGAIN AND WE GOT OUR CAR BACK ON 10/28/99. ON 8/7/00 WE BROUGHT OUR CAR BACK TO FORD AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WOULD LUNGE FORWARD WHILE STOPPED, LOOSE POWER OR STALL WHILE DRIVING OR STOPPED. TOOK IT TO FORD AGAIN. REPLACED TRANSMISSION AGAIN. VEHICLE OUT OF SERVICE FOR A TOTAL OF 36 DAYS IN ONE YEAR AND HAD 4 REPAIR ATTEMPTS TO CORRECT VEHICLE. NO REASONABLE OR SAFE REASON TO DRIVE - UNSAFE.

ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON A 99 EXPEDITION P265/70R17. WHILE DRIVING 70MPH RIGHT REAR TIRE TREAD SEPARATED, CAUSING MINIR DAMAGE TO VEHICLE.*AK
VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN SCHOOL PARKING LOT AND THE VEHICLE JUST STARTED UP WITH NO KEYS IN THE IGNITION. THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT. CONSUMER WENT IN, CAME OUT, AND THE TRUCK WAS RUNNING. KEY WAS IN THE CONSUMER'S POCKET. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST FIVE TIMES. CONTACTED THE DEALER. THEY ADMITTED THERE WAS A PROBLEM, BUT COULDN'T RESOLVE IT. *AK
WHEN VEHICLE HAD 3,789 MILES ON IT, COOLANT LEAKED ONTO PLUGS & COILS. HAD IT REPAIRED. ON 8/30/99, COOLANT LEAKED ONTO PLUGS & COILS. HAD IT REPAIRED AGAIN. WROTE TO ZONE DIVISION WITH COPIES TO CEO AND CHAIRMAN OF FORD REQUESTING TO BE RELEASED FROM MY LEASE. ONLY GOT FORM LETTERS BACK. ON 1/2/2000, SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. LEFT CAR AT DEALERSHIP, PUTTING ENVELOP WITH KEYS AND NOTE STATING PROBLEM IN THEIR NIGHT SERVICE WINDOW.. HAVE HAD OTHER PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE I.E. REAR WIPER BLADE INOPERATIVE. ADAMSON FORD, WHERE CAR WAS LEASED FROM KEPT VEHICLE FROM THURSDAY 8/30/99 UNTIL MONDAY 9/2/99. DEALERSHIP VERY RUDE AND UNCOOPERATIVE, AND FAILED TO REPAIR ITEMS LISTED ON SERVICE ORDER. I BELIEVE VEHICLE IS A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT SENT FROM THE FACTORY TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO IN TURN LEASED IT TO ME. *AK
COMPLETE MECHANICAL PROBLEM WITH STEERING SYSTEM. DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD APPROX 30MPH PITMAN ARM DETACHED FROM STEERING GEAR, RESULTING IN COMPLETE LOSS OF THE STEERING CONTROL. *AK
