MY 2004 FORD EXPEDITION'S MOTOR POSSIBLY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE ONLY 38,000 MILES ON IT. I WAS BLAMED SAYING I DIDN'T CHANGE THE OIL SAYING THEY DIDN'T HAVE ME ON RECORD COMING TO DEALER TO HAVE IT DONE. I CHANGED MY OWN OIL AND COULD ONLY FURNISH A FEW RECEIPTS. THE DEALER AND THE INSPECTOR BLAMED EACH OTHER FOR THE DENIAL SAYING THERE WAS SLUDGE IN THE OIL PAN WHICH WAS THE CAUSE. THEY HAVE HAD MY SUV FOR 17 WEEKS GIVEN ME NO RENTAL AND IT WAS TAKEN APART AND IS NOT DRIVABLE AND THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME FOR IT. THEY ALSO WON'T PUT IT BACK TOGETHER WITHOUT CHARGING ME SO I CAN TAKE IT SOMEWHERE ELSE. I ALSO AM AN EMPLOYEE OF FORD MOTOR AT THE NORFOLK ASSEMBLY PLANT WHERE THE F-150 IS BUILT AND WAS TOLD IT DIDN'T MATTER THAT I WORKED FOR FORD. *JB
MY VEHICLE'S ENGINE HAS FAILED. THE DEALER WILL NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY CLAIMING I DIDN'T CHANGE THE OIL, THEY HAVE NO RECORD OF ME COMING IN FOR MAINTENANCE, I CHANGE MY OWN OIL AND BROUGHT RECEIPTS IN. THIS WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. THEY HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE FOR 18 WEEKS WITH NO RENTAL. I HAVE CONTACTED THE COMPANY THE BBB A NEWS CHANNEL IN MY AREA AND I ALSO WORK FOR FORD WHICH MAKES IT EVEN WORSE THAT THEY ARE DENYING MY CLAIM. *JB
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PLACED IN "PARK", THE GEAR SHIFT POSITION LEVER WILL MOVE TO THE "P" POSITION, BUT THE GEAR SHIFT POSITION INDICATOR STOPS AT "N" OR "R". THE CAR WILL TURN OFF AND THE KEYS CAN BE REMOVED AS NORMAL. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES OVER THE PAST TWO MONTHS. THE VEHICLE IS AT THE DEALER NOW FOR THE SECOND ATTEMPT AT REPAIRING THIS SITUATION. *JB
ALL FOUR OF THE TIRES IN MY FORD EXPEDITION LOSE 4 POUNDS OF AIR EVERY WEEK. THERE IS SOME KIND OF DEFECT ANY THE DEALERSHIP ISN'T FIXING THE VEHICLE. I WAS TOLD BY FORD THAT A ENGINEER LOOKED AT ME VEHICLE ON THE 7TH VISIT AND THIS NEVER OCCURRED. I HAVE BEEN LIED TO BY FORD AND MY VEHICLE STILL HAS NOT BEEN FIXED EVEN THOUGH IT IS UNDER WARRANTY. THE ISSUE IS THAT THEY KNOW THERE IS A DEFECT THAT CAN'T DUPLICATE IT SO THEY KEEP ADDING AIR AND LET ME LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP ONLY TO RETURN A FEW DAYS LATER. WHO WILL STAND UP FOR THE CONSUMER AND MAKE THEM REPAIR THE VEHICLE?*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM WAS ACTIVATED, AN ABNORMAL NOISE WAS HEARD FROM THE REAR PASSENGER'S SIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO REPLACED THE AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 89,000.

DT: THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD EXPEDITION. THE SAFETY DEFECT IS THE TIRE SENSOR. THE CONTACT STATES THAT THE FAULTY SENSOR LIGHT IS COMING ON. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TURNED THE LIGHT OFF. THE TIRE SENSOR LIGHT STILL COMES BACK ON WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS MAKES THE THIRD TIME THE SERVICE LIGHT WHICH SAYS SENSOR TIRE KEEPS COMING ON .NO CRASHES WERE INVOLVED .THIS MAKES 3 TIMES THAT THE SENSOR LIGHT HAS BEEN TURNED OFF.*AK
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE HAVE CRACKS ALL THE WAY AROUND THE TREAD AND UP THE SIDEWALL. THE TIRES WERE PURCHASED WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD 88000 MILES ON IT, AND THE CRACKS WERE OBSERVED WHEN THE VEHICLE REACHED 108000 MILES. THE TIRES WERE TAKEN TO THE SERVICE RETAILER FOR REPAIR WHO DETERMINED THE CRACKS WERE A RESULT OF NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR.
DT: 2004 FORD EXPEDITION - THE GEAR SHIFT INDICATOR DOES NOT SHIFT WHEN PUT INTO GEAR. IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS OFF AND ON FOR THE PAST THREE MONTHS. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AND MADE AN THE APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT REPAIRED, THE GEAR SHIFT INDICATOR WAS NOT IN THE PROPER GEAR WHEN THE CONSUMER BROUGHT VEHICLE BACK FOR THE APPOINTMENT, IT WAS WORKING PROPERLY. THEREFORE, IT WAS NOT REPAIRED AT THAT TIME. CURRENTLY, IT IS HAPPENED AGAIN. IT HAS BEEN IN THE WRONG GEAR FOR ABOUT TWO WEEKS. THE VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THE GEAR SHIFT INDICATOR FAILED AT LEAST 100 TIMES.*AK
DURING EMERGENCY STOP IT WAS NOTED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. SUV HAD LESS THEN 8K MILES ON IT. DEALER TURNED THE DISKS AND REPLACED PADS AND BLED BRAKE SYSTEM. BRAKES STILL GO TO THE FLOOR AND NOW HAVE BRAKE SHUDDER AT 13K MILES. *JB
JULY 25, 2005 MY 2004 FORD EXPEDITION AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION LEVER FAILED. IT WILL NOT MOVE PAST THE "REVERSE" SETTING, YET IT WILL GO INTO PARK. THE TRANSMISSION FUNCTIONS PROPERLY AS FAR AS I KNOW. I AM TO TAKE INTO DEALERSHIP TOMMORROW. MY MILEAGE IS ABOUT 13,500. *JB
1998 FORD EXPEDITION CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND THE ENGINE WAS CUT OFF.*MR THE CONSUMER BELIEVED HIS EXPEDITION SUFFERED FROM THE SAME DEFECT IN THE CRUISE CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH AS OTHER VEHICEL'S. *NM
DT: CONSUMER STATES THE 3RD ROW SEAT BECAME SO HOT, IT BURNED HER DAUGHTER'S LEG . THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED HER TO THE DEALER AND THE DEALER SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. *JB
SHAKING IN STEERING WHEEL WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED. TOOK TO DEALER AT 8K MILES - DEALER SAID FRONT ROTORS ARE WARPED - THEY WOULD ONLY TURN THEM. PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN AT 20K MILES. DEALER (SAME ONE) WOULD NOT SAY WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS, ONLY THAT HEAT CAUSES THEM TO WARP - I REQUESTED NEW ROTORS BUT DEALER ONLY OFFERED TO TURN THE ROTORS AGAIN AND WARNED ME THE ROTORS WERE SO THIN THEY COULD NOT BE TURNED THE NEXT TIME. STILL NO EXPLANATION OF WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE BRAKE SYSTEM. HEAVY BRAKE DUST ON FRONT WHEELS
MY LETTER TO PAOLI FORD TO: PAOLI FORD 3/18/06 ATTN. GENERAL MANAGER RE: 2004 E.B. EXPEDITION PURCHASED 3/04 PROBLEMS: DOOR RATTLES, BRAKE FAILURE NO FORD PRODUCT TO DATE HAS REQUIRED AS MANY SERVICE CALLS AS THIS 2004 EXPEDITION. THE DOOR RATTLES HAVE NEVER BEEN TOTALLY FIXED AFTER7 ATTEMPTS. I BELIEVE THAT THERE IS A DESIGN FLAW IN THE ADVANCE TRAC SYSTEM THAT HAS CAUSED A BRAKE FAILURE ON TWO OCCASIONS. I DO NOT INTENT TO WAIT AROUND FOR A THIRD TIME. LAST SUMMER, I WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 50 M.P.H. WHEN APPROACHING A LIGHT IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THE BRAKES FAILED. THE PEDAL PULSATED AS IF I WAS ON ICE, BUT THE PAVEMENT WAS PERFECTLY DRY. I AVOIDED A MASSIVE REAR END COLLISION BY TAKING EVASIVE ACTION, AND DRIVING OVER A BERM. THE BRAKES ACTED AS IF THEY HAD ABOUT 10 % OF THEIR STOPPING POWER. WHEN I CALLED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT PAOLI FORD, THEY SUGGESTED I RESTART THE VEHICLE AND TURN OFF THE ADVANCED TRAC BUTTON. THIS DID RESTORE THE BRAKES. I DROPPED THE TRUCK OFF AND THEY REPLACED SOME YAW SENSOR PARTS UNDER WARRANTY, AND DECLARED IT SAFE TO DRIVE. THIS SAME BRAKE FAILURE HAS NOW HAPPENED AGAIN! THE MESSAGE CENTER INDICATED 2 ADVTRAC FAULTS, BUT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAYS THAT THE FAULT CODES SCROLLED OFF THE SYSTEM BY THE TIME THEY WERE ABLE TO TEST IT. THEY SUGGESTED THAT I DRIVE IT UNTIL THE BRAKES FAIL AGAIN. I WILL NOT SUBJECT MY FAMILY TO THE DANGER OF THIS SITUATION AGAIN! I DO NOT INTENT TO WAIT AROUND FOR THE NEXT TIME THE BRAKES FAIL. FORD HAS DESIGNED THEIR TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM TO REMOVE BRAKING POWER WHEN THERE IS A POTENTIAL ROLLOVER. HOWEVER, WHEN THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE YAW SENSOR, IT CAN REMOVE THE BRAKING POWER WHILE TRAVELING STRAIGHT ON A DRY ROAD. FORD HAS ELIMINATED ROLLOVER LAWSUITS, BUT CAUSED A BRAKE FAILURE IN THE PROCESS. *JB
AIR BAG/BRAKES FAILED. 2004 FORD EXPEDITION. AT 28500 MILES BRAKES AND ROTOR WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH THE CLUTCHES IN THE REAR TWO WEEKS LATER THIS ACCIDENT. NOISE WAS STILL HEARD IN THE REAR AFTER THE REPAIR. CAR WAS TOTALED. *NM
WHILE DRIVING MY FORD 2004 EXPEDITION EDDIE BAUSER, THE BRAKE PEDEL WILL GO ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, & THE BRAKING SYSTEM WILL FAILED TO WORK, VEHICLE WILL NOT STOP, THIS HAPPENS 4 TIME, & THE DEALER ( BRANDON FORD ) & FORD REFUSE TO HELP US, THE DEALER AFTER LOOKING AT THE VEHICLE EVERY TIME SAID NOTHING HAPPENS TO THE BRAKE, WE ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, FOR WE MIGHT NOT BE LUCKY THE NEXT TIME IT HAPPEN, THE LAST TIME IT HAPPEN WAS ON MAY 26, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING WITH THE KIDS WHEN IT HAPPEN, SHE HAD TO PULL ONTO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD IN ORDER TO AVOID HITTING THE CARS IN FRONT OF HER WHICH CAUSE HER TO HIT AT ROAD SIGN, WHICH CAUSE ABOUT $2100 IN BODY REPAIR COST, WE NEED TO FILE A COMPLAINT AGAINST BRANDON FORD & FORD MOTOR COMPANY FOR NOT THINKING ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMER SAFTY & LIFE & FAMILY. I DROPPED MY KIDS OFF AT SCHOOL THEN HEADED FOR WORK TAKING THE FREEWAY. TRAFFIC BEGAN TO BUILD SO I HAD SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 20 MILES PER HOUR (MPR), WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY REACH 30 MILES PER HOUR. I WAS IN THE FAR RIGHT LANE SO I TOOK THE NEXT EXIT OFF THE FREEWAY. I PUT IT IN PARK THEN TRIED TO DRIVE AGAIN BUT IT STILL WOULD NOT GO PASS 30 MPR OR GO IN REVERSE SO I CALLED ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP. THERE WAS NO NOISE OR ANY INDICATION THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG. LUCKILY I WASNT TRYING TO CHANGE LANES WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT, I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN HIT. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT THE SUN GEAR HAD BROKEN.
I DRIVE A 2004 FORD EXPEDITION EB WITH CONTENTIAL CONTITRAC SUV P265R70 17 TIRES. DEC 2004 (2) TWO OF THE TIRES HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO CRACKS/TEARS IN THE SIDEWALLS, THE VEHICLE HAD 17K MILES . AT THAT TIME I WAS TOLD MY OTHER TIRES ARE FINE. I HAVE 22K MILES ON THE VEHICLE NOW, AND A TIRE HAS DEVELOPED CRACKS AND "CHIPS" AND THE CONNECTION BETWEEN SIDEWALL AND TREAD. THESE TIRES ARE A SERIOUS PROBLEM WAITING TO HURT THE PUBLIC.
HUMMING COMING FROM BOTTOM OF VEHICLE (REAR AXLE). KNOCK IS ALSO HEARD WHEN COMING TO STOP IN SAME AREA (REAR AXLE). DEALER REPLACED GEARS AND COMPONENTS MAY 2005. GOT VEHICLE BACK BUT KNOCK WAS LOUDER, FOUND OUT THAT NEEDED THE CORRECT SHIMS TO PREVENT PROBLEM. WAITED FOR PARTS FOR 3-4 WEEKS. DEALER SAID FORD WILL NOT REPLACE THE ENTIRE AXLE ONLY REPLACE COMPONENTS. FORD SERVICE LOG SHOWS "REPAIR REAR AXLE AS PER TSB 050618". BUT PROBLEM STILL PRESENT. WAITING ON PARTS AGAIN. AS OF OCTOBER 10, 2005, HAVE HAD DEALER TRY TO FIXED PROBLEM THREE (3) TIMES. NOW MY PARK BRAKE DOES NOT WORK, DEALER SAID NEED TO GET PARTS IN TO FIX BOTH PROBLEMS (AXLE AND BRAKE) AT SAME TIME. BUT I WILL TAKE BACK TO DEALER TO FIX PARK BRAKE EVEN IF AXLE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE. *NM
DT: THE CALLER'S VEHICLEHAD BRAKE FAILURE 3 TIMES. TWICE IN DRIVEWAY AND ONCE WHTHE ILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH. BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THE CALLER'S WIFE HIT THE BRAKES AND THEY WOULD NOT WORK AND VEHICLE HIT A MAILBOX BEFORE SHE COULD GAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. DEALER SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. MANUFACTURER SAID UNLESS THEY COULD DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM THEY COULDN'T HELP HIM. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. DRIVER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES, AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO A HOSPITAL. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A GARAGE FOR INSPECTION. THE CAUSE HAD NOT BEEN DETERMINED AT THIS TIME. THIS INFORMATION WAS PROVIDED BY NICK PANARO, JENNIFER'S BOY FRIEND.*AK
THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED A PROBLEM WITH THE FUSE BOX LOCATED UNDER THE DASH KEEP WHICH ALWAYS SHORTED OUT. INTERMITTENTLY, ELECTRICAL SPARKS AND INSULATION BURNING WAS NOTICED WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *JB
AFTER PARKING THE VEHICLE IN THE LOT AT WORK CONSUMER PROCEEDED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE WHEN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR KNOCKED HER DOWN AS THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS. CONSUMER GOT UP, ENTERED THE VEHICLE, PLACED BOTH HANDS ON THE BRAKES TO STOP THE VEHICLE, THEN PLACED THE VEHICLE INTO PARK BEFORE IT STRUCK ANYTHING. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED BY THE CONSUMER. THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED INTO PARK PRIOR TO IT ROLLING BACK.*AK
WHILE ON THE BELTWAY DRIVING AT 55 MPH STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO VIBRATE. THEN, CONSUMER SAW SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. CONSUMER PULLED OVER , AND THE PASSENGER OPENED THE HOOD TO FIND FLAMES COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED BY A STATE TROOPER. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED TO CONTAIN THE FIRE. CONSUMER MENTIONED THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS ON EARLIER. THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN CRUISE CONTROL NHTSA RECALL 05V017000. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RADIO LIGHT HAS BEEN ILLUMINATING INTERMITTENTLY FOR THE PAST YEAR. CURRENTLY, IT HAS TURNED COMPLETELY OFF AND THE ODOMETER LIGHT ILLUMINATES INTERMITTENTLY EVERY OTHER DAY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT DURING THE ENTIRE WINTER SEASON, WHEN SHE WOULD CLOSE THE TWO PASSENGER DOORS, THEY WOULD POP BACK OPEN. SINCE THE WEATHER HAS WARMED UP, THE DOORS ARE CLOSING AND STAYING CLOSED MORE OFTEN. SHE ALSO STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATES AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS DUE TO THE FUEL INJECTION. THE VIN AND ENGINE SIZE WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 113,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED FROM BEHIND. CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS PUSHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, BOTH AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER SUSTAINED CHEST PAINS, AND WENT TO THE HOSPITAL THE NEXT DAY. VEHICLE WAS DRIVABLE, AND DRIVER DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME. *AK
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A LEAK IN THE REAR AXLE SEALS. THIS PROBLEM WAS RECOGNIZED BY THE DEALER AND THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN IN THE REPAIR SHOP FOR THE LAST 8 WEEKS. HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM HAD NOT BEEN REMEDIED. OWNER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH EVIDENCE FOR THEM TO TAKE ACTION AND REPAIR THE VEHICLE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED STEERING VIBRATES VIOLENTLY. DEALER STATES THE STEERING ROD MALFUNCTIONED. *AK ALL 4 WHEELS WERE BALANCED, HOWEVER STEERING WHEEL IS STILL VIBRATING AND NOISY. BLUE SMOKE FROM EXHAUST. NO PROBLEM FOUND. ALL WINDOWS SLOW TO GO DOWN AND SQUEAKS. NO PROBLEM FOUND. ABNORMAL STARTING. ENGINE FAN NOISY. DEALER FOUND NORMAL OPERATION. CLANKING NOISE IN STEERING COLUMN. LOWER STEERING SHAFT WAS REPLACED. *TT
NOTICED A VIBRATION AND PULSATION WHENEVER APPLYING BRAKES. 2004 EXPEDITION WITH ONLY 7K MILES. FORD DEALER NOTED THE FRONT ROTORS HAD "EXCESSIVE RUN OUT" AND WERE MACHINED DOWN. IF THE ORIGINAL ROTORS WEREN'T STRONG ENOUGH TO HANDLE EVEN 7000 MILES THEN HOW IS MACHINING THEM THINNER GOING TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM? I BELIEVE THE ROTORS SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED WITH STRONGER PARTS.*AK
I NOTICED EXCESSIVE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATION BETWEEN SPEEDS OF 70 M PH-75 MPH. I BOUGHT THIS 2004 EXPEDITION BRAND NEW ON 1/13/05 AND NOTICED THE PROBLEM THE VERY NEXT DAY. I TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE CAUSE HAD TO DO WITH TOO MUCH AIR PRESSURE IN THE TIRES. THEY WENT AHEAD AND SET THE TIRE PRESSURE TO 35PSI. A WEEK LATER, THE PROBLEM CAME BACK AND ONCE MORE I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT IT STILL HAD TOO MUCH AIR PRESSURE IN THE TIRES AND THAT THE WHEELS NEEDED TO BE BALANCED. I CONTACTED A DIFFERENT DEALER AND I WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM IS BECAUSE THESE VEHICLES HAVE A RACK AND PINION AND THAT IT'S NORMAL TO FEEL A VIBRATION ON THE WHEEL. AT THIS TIME, FORD DOES NOT HAVE A SOLUTION AND WE THE CONSUMERS HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THEY FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND THAT WE HAVE TO BE PATIENT AND LIVE WITH IT FOR NOW. I THINK FORD NEEDS TO DO MORE TESTING ON ANY NEW VEHICLES BEFORE THEY PUT THEM ON THE ROAD. I BELIEVE THEY DON'T DO ENOUGH TESTING AND WE HAVE TO PUT UP WITH IT UNTIL THEY HAVE RECALLS. BOTH ROOF AIR BAGS INADVERTENTLY DEPLOYED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MPH, UNDER NORMAL WEATHER/DRIVING CONDITIONS. THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS ENGAGED WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE CRUISE CONTROL DISENGAGED ITS' SELF SEVERAL TIMES PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, WHERE THEY TUCKED THE AIR BAGS, AND THE CONSUMER CONTINUED TO TRAVEL. MANUFACTURER STATED THEY WILL REPAIR IF A DEFECT IS FOUND.*AK CRUISE CONTROL DID NOT WORK AT TIMES ON THE CONSUMERS VEHICLE. *TC
2004 FORD EXPEDITION. SINCE I TOOK DELIVERY, THE VEHICLE HAS A ROUGH IDLE IN ANY GEAR ONCE THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN BROUGHT UP TO OPERATING TEMPERATURE (APPROXIMATELY 15 MINUTES). THE TRUCK HAS BEEN RETURNED TO ORIGINAL DEALERSHIP TWICE FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE ORIGINAL "SOLUTION" WAS STATED THAT DUE TO THE CHANGE IN GAS TYPES FROM SUMMER TO WINTER THE DIFFERENCE IN OXYGEN IN THE FUEL WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD TO DRIVE IT USING A MID-GRADE GAS FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 DAYS AND IF THE PROBLEM WAS STILL PRESENT RETURN IT TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE NOW HAS ABOUT 5,900 MILES ON IT AND THE ROUGH IDLE CONTINUES AFTER IT WARMS UP. THE VEHICLE IS ONLY GETTING ABOUT 10.6 MPG WHICH IS SIGNIFICANTLY LESS THAN MFG STATED AND LESS THAN THE 1997 4.6L EXPEDITION I PREVIOUSLY OWNED. I RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER APPROXIMATELY 30 DAYS FROM THE ORIGINAL VISIT COMPLAINING OF THE SAME ROUGH IDLE PROBLEM AND REDUCED MILEAGE. ON THE SECOND VISIT THE DEALER SAID ALL "ELECTRONIC" CHECKS WERE IN SPEC AND THERE WAS NOTHING "WRONG" WITH THE VEHICLE. SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO TURN IT OVER TO FORD ENGINEER. WE ARE WAITING TO HEAR FROM FORD. THE CAR IDLES ROUGH AND THE MILEAGE IS POOR. STILL NO RESOLUTION TO ORIGINAL PROBLEM. *AK
EXCESSIVE FRONT BRAKE WEAR ON 20004 FORD EXPEDITION. VEHICLE HAS 14,000 MILES AND FRONT BRAKES ARE GONE. ROTORS CANNOT BE TURNED DUE TO EXCESSIVE WARE. FRONT INSIDE CALIPHER CANNOT AND WILL NOT STAY TIGHT. THEY KEEP SLIDING CAUSING HEAVY GROOVE WEAR IN THE ROTORS AND HEAVY FRONT END SHAKING AND WOBBLE DURING STOPPING. THE BRAKES OFTEN FADE TO THE POINT WHERE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE MUST BE USED FOR STOPPING. THE FORD DEALER RECOMMENDED REPLACING THE PADS AND ROTORS BUT NOT WITH OEM PARTS AS THAT IS WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I WAS URGED TO GO TO AFTER MARKET BRAKE COMPONENTS. I DID AND THERE IS NO BRAKE DUST, FADE, SQUEAK OR SHAKE.

ON DECEMBER 5, 2004, MY FAMILY AND I WERE DRIVING SOUTH ON INTERSTATE 5 NEAR EDMONDS, WASHINGTON. THE CRUISE CONTROL MOTOR OF OUR 2004 FORD EDDIE BAUER EXPEDITION ENGAGED ON ITS OWN AND MALFUNCTIONED IN SUCH A WAY AS TO OPEN UP THE THROTTLE ON THE CAR. WE WERE SENT AT HIGH SPEEDS THROUGH TRAFFIC WITH NO WAY TO STOP. BRAKING THE CAR, PUTTING THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL OR LOWER GEARS, NOTHING WORKED. WE NARROWLY AVOIDED MANY COLLISIONS WHICH COULD HAVE RESULTED IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO OUR FAMILY AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD THAT DAY. MY HUSBAND IS AN EXCELLENT DRIVER AND REMAINED CALM. WE MADE OUR WAY THROUGH TRAFFIC TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE HE WAS ABLE TO SLAM ON THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND TURN THE KEY OFF. ALL FOUR BRAKES WERE BILLOWING SMOKE. OUR LOCAL DEALER HAS "FIXED THE PROBLEM" BUT I AM COMPELLED TO WARN OTHER DRIVERS OF OUR DIFFICULTIES. WE HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO REACH A REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY. I BELIEVE THEY KNOW OF THIS MECHANICAL FAILURE BECAUSE THEY CHANGED THE CERVO MOTOR THAT CONTROLS THE CRUISE CONTROL IN THEIR 2005 MODEL.
