AFTER STOPPING AT A TRAFFIC SIGNAL, THE ENGINE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT THE PEDAL BEING PUSHED. THE FOOT BRAKE WAS APPLIED WITH INCREASING FORCE TO STOP THE VEHICLE FROM GOING INTO THE INTERSECTION. THIS SLOWED THE FORWARD MOVEMENT OF THE VEHICLE DOWN, BUT DIDN'T STOP IT UNTIL THE IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED WITHIN TWO MINUTES AND OPERATED NORMALLY. THIS IS ONE OF THOSE VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEMS THAT CAN CAUSE ACCIDENTS AND GET PEOPLE KILLED. THIS ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL/BODY NEEDS TO BE RE-ENGINEERED AND A RECALL ISSUED FOR THIS PRODUCT. TOO MANY ISSUES WITH THIS NOT TO IGNORE IT. *TR
I HAVE TALKED TO A FEW OTHER OWNERS OF FORD EXPEDITIONS (LATER MODELS 2004-2008) AND THERE IS A DEFINITE ISSUE WITH RUST AND OTHER COMPONENTS RUSTING OUT. IT SEEMS TO BE A SERIOUS ISSUE WITH RUST ESP WHEN THE BRAKE LINES ARE BASICALLY ALL RUSTED OUT IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO THE CROSS MEMBER FRAME UNDERNEATH HAS A LOT MORE THAN ACCEPTABLE AMOUNT OF RUST, NEVER SEEN THIS MUCH EVEN WITH A TRUCK I HAVE NOW A 1997 DODGE WITH 190,000 MILES DOESN'T EVEN COME CLOSE TO THE RUST I SEE WITH THE FORD. RUST BUBBLES ON THE REAR LIFT GATE HANDLE AREA AND JUST ABOUT ALL AROUND THE WINDOW AREAS AND THE HOOD. MIND YOU THAT THE TIME WE'VE HAD THE VEHICLE ONLY MAYBE A HANDFUL OF TIMES IT WAS OUT IN SNOW OR EVEN RAINY WEATHER - LOW MILES FOR THE YEAR 67,000/8 YEARS+. THE LINES AND RUST REPAIR WILL COST MONEY $$ TO FIX I BELIEVE THAT FORD KNOWS THERE'S AN ISSUE AND STIFFS THE CONSUMER KNOWING THAT THE MATERIALS RUST OUT CAUSING A VERY UNSAFE VEHICLE TO DRIVE. ANYBODY FOR A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT HERE? *TR
WHILE DRIVING HOME DOWN A SLIGHT DECLINE, I HEARD A BEEP AND THE MESSAGE ON THE DASH READ (CHECK ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL) WHICH I THEN MENTALLY ADDED TO MY LIST OF THINGS TO DO. NOT UNTIL A NEEDED TO START ACCELERATING AGAIN DID I REALIZE THAT MY THROTTLE WAS COMPLETELY INOPERABLE. LUCKILY, A WORD USED FREQUENTLY BY OTHER OWNERS TO DESCRIBE THIS SAME ISSUE, I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO A STOP WHILE OTHER VEHICLES WENT AROUND ME. TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTARTING IT SEEMED TO "RESET" THE THROTTLE CONTROL. I DO NOT TRUST THAT IT WILL BE SAFE TO USE, PARTICULARLY WITH THE WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS THAT I ENCOUNTER. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED FOR MONDAY. WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS I HAVE SEEN REGARDING THIS SAME ISSUE, I AM SHOCKED THAT MORE ACTION (RECALL) HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN. DOES A CRASH, FIRE, INJURY, OR FATALITY NEED TO OCCUR BEFORE THIS CAN BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY? I AM BAFFLED THAT A WARNING MESSAGE CANNOT BE DISPLAYED IN ADVANCE OF COMPLETE THROTTLE FAILURE CONSIDERING THE POTENTIAL CATASTROPHIC OUTCOMES. THIS VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED/SERVICED NOVEMBER 2013. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE WRENCH ICON ILLUMINATED AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE CONTACT COASTED ONTO THE SHOULDER AND WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC AND LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE THROTTLE. THE THROTTLE WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. ADDITIONALLY AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON TWO OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS FOUND THAT THE DRIVER FUEL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 108,000.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WENT INTO A HEAVY VIBRATION FROM THE MOTOR AND THE SMELL OF RAW FUEL WAS PRESENT. AFTER TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE IT WOULD NOT START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE FORD DEALER AND THE DEALER STATED THAT A FUEL INJECTOR BECAME STUCK OPEN. THE INJECTOR FILLED THE CYLINDER WITH FUEL AND CAUSED THE ENGINE TO BLOW UP (SEVERE DAMAGE). IT WAS FOUND THAT THIS OCCURRED ON FORD EXPEDITIONS NUMEROUS TIMES AND FORD EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 11 YEARS, 120,000 MILES AND MY SCARY EXPERIENCE OCCURRED AT 129,000. I PREVIOUSLY REPLACED THE MOTOR AT MY OWN EXPENSE 2 YEARS PRIOR AND FORD DID NOT REPLACE THE INJECTORS OR NOTIFY ME OF AN INJECTOR ISSUE. FORD IS STATING THAT THEY WILL NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY AND THE ENGINE DAMAGE WAS CAUSED BY THE INJECTOR THAT WAS NOT REPLACED. IT WAS FOUND THAT FORD WAS AWARE OF THE INJECTOR ISSUE SINCE 2007. I'M NOT SURE THESE ISSUE ARE GETTING REPORTED. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 FORD EXPEDITION EDDIE BAUER EDITION WHEN I STARTED TO MAKE A TURN. SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE STOPPED MOVING AND AN INDICATOR LIGHT STATING "ENGINE FAIL SAFE MODE" CAME ON. DURING THE TURN, A VEHICLE WAS COMING TOWARD ME AND I BARELY HAD ENOUGH TIME TO GET MY VEHICLE OUT OF THE LANE BEFORE I GOT HIT. I HAD TO STOP MY VEHICLE, PUT IT IN PARK (WHILE SITTING ON THE ROADWAY), SHUT IT OFF, AND RESTART IT BEFORE I COULD MOVE AGAIN. IT RAN FINE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND THEN IT HAPPENED TO ME AGAIN WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO AND AFTER CHECKING THE INTERNET IT SEEMS THERE ARE LOTS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME EXPERIENCES. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. AFTER SPENDING $409.00 (BECAUSE OF COURSE IT WAS NOT COVERED BY MY WARRANTY) TO REPAIR IT HOPEFULLY THE PROBLEM MAY BE FIXED. I FIGURED SPENDING THE MONEY WAS BETTER THAN THE OPTION OF POSSIBLY GETTING IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND BEING KILLED IF THE PROBLEM WAS NOT FIXED. SOMEBODY NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE AND MAKE FORD RESPONSIBLE FOR COSTS SINCE IT IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING 55MPH ON INTERSTATE 95 IN PHILADELPHIA, PA WITH MY WIFE AND 2 CHILDREN THE VEHICLE STOPPED RUNNING AND I WAS DANGEROUSLY STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSTATE 95. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND CHECK ELECTRONIC THROTTLE MESSAGE CAME ON. THIS IS A FAMILY VEHICLE AND MY WIFE AND I REFUSE TO DRIVE IT NOW IN FEAR OF THIS INCIDENT OCCURRING AGAIN RESULTING IN DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY. BASED UPON MY RESEARCH, IT APPEARS TO BE A WELL KNOWN PROBLEM THAT OCCURRED TO THOUSANDS OF FORD EXPEDITION OWNERS. I WOULD APPRECIATE THE PROBLEM BEING ADDRESSED EXPEDITIOUSLY BEFORE PEOPLE ARE KILLED AND/OR INJURED. *TR
The contact owns a 2005 Ford Expedition. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle made an abnormal sound. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where the contact was notified of an engine misfire. The spark plugs were replaced. Additionally, the contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the brake pedal became stiff, and the vehicle failed to immediately stop. Additionally, the vehicle made an abnormal sound and stalled. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who informed the contact that the spark plugs, and the engine needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.
MY MOTHER HAD MY CAR WHEN THIS OCCURRED AND THE INCIDENT AND SUBSEQUENT RESEARCH SHOWING A DANGEROUS PATTERN AND NO RECALL OF THIS ISSUE HAS ME VERY CONCERNED. WHILE AT A RED LIGHT, THE ENGINE FAILSAFE MESSAGE FLASHED ACROSS THE DASH WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT ON WHILE MAKING LOUD ALERT BEEPS. THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT GO. MY MOTHER PUT IT IN PARK AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. SHE WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND DRIVE WITH NO ISSUES. MY CONCERN DOING RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE IS THAT THIS CAN OCCUR WHILE IN MOTION. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED A MINUTE EARLIER OR LATER, IT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENTS DURING HIGH SPEEDS OR LEFT TURNS. I AM NOW ALMOST FEARFUL FOR MYSELF AND OTHERS TO DRIVE THIS CAR. *TR
DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 60 MPH CHANGING LANES AND A ODB MESSAGE APPEARS "CHECK ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL" AND THE CAR JUST SHUTS DOWN. IT WAS A LIFE THREATENING MOMENT FOR MY FAMILY AND I AS A TRUCK THAT WAS ON COMING FROM BEHIND WITH SPEED HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES IN ORDER NOT TO COLLIDE WITH ME SINCE I HAD NO POWER TO ACCELERATE. I WAS ONLY FORTUNATE THAT THE TRUCK HAD A CLEAR LANE TO CHANGE INTO ABRUPTLY. THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE MESSAGE AFTER FURTHER RESEARCH IS A WIDE SPREAD KNOW ISSUE AMONG FORD CARS AND I AM LIVID AND VERY ANGRY THAT THE NHTSA HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL ON THIS KNOW ISSUE AS IT IS PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE ONLINE. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY TO AVOID ANY POTENTIAL FUTURE TRAGEDIES. I HOPE FORD DOES NOT WANT BLOOD ON THERE HANDS! *TR
I WAS DRIVING WITH 4 KIDS IN THE CAR, WHEN ALL THE SUDDEN MY CAR TURNED OFF, ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON THE DASH. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO MOVE OVER TO A PARKING LOT. I TURNED THE CAR OFF, TURNED BACK ON, NOTHING. TRIED AGAIN AND IT WORKED. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE 50 MILES HOME AND AS I WAS TURNING IN MY DRIVEWAY IT HAPPENED AGAIN. *TR
I HAVE SIX KIDS AND WHEN YOUR DRIVING AND YOUR CAR SHUTS OFF GOING 50-60 MILES AN HOURS AND GIVES YOU A MESSAGE FAIL SAFE MESSAGE, THAT'S PRETTY SCARY. I FIXED THE THROTTLE BODY SENSOR ONCE AND NOW HAVE ISSUES WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I HAVE LOOKED INTO THIS AND SURPRISED THAT THERE ARE NOT RECALLS. THIS IS ONE EXPENSIVE FIX. *TR
REAR DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER WINDOW WENT DOWN BY ITSELF AND THERE IS NO WAY TO SEND IT UP. IS STUCK OPEN. I AM REPORTING BECAUSE I FOUND MORE THAN 20 FORUMS ONLINE WITH HUNDREDS OF REPORTED COMPLAINTS ON THE SAME ISSUE AND I DON'T SEE THE NECESSARY RECALL ON THIS ITEM. *TR
DRIVING ON I-75 AT 78 MPH MY CAR JUST SHUT OFF. I HAD NO POWER AND NEARLY WAS INVOLVED IN A 18 WHEELER HITTING ME. THE "CHECK ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL" WARNING LIGHT CAME ON BUT AFTER THE ENGINE QUIT. ONCE I CALMED DOWN THE CAR STARTED RIGHT BACK UP. I JUST HAD MY SECOND ISSUE WITH THE SAME WARNING LIGHT AND ENGINE POWER SHUTTING OFF. I HAD TO COAST THROUGH A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION. THEN THE CAR STARTED RIGHT BACK UP. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM ON MORE THAN A FEW EXPEDITIONS AND SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED IF THE ISSUES ARE NOT RESOLVED. FORD MOTOR COMPANY REFUSES TO HELP.... *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE FIRE STARTED FROM UNDER THE REAR SEAT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED IN THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HIS MECHANIC BELIEVED THAT A FAILED CATALYTIC CONVERTER COULD HAVE POTENTIALLY CAUSED THE FIRE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 98,300. *TR

I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 60MPH AND THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND SHOWED "CHECK ELECTRIC THROTTLE CONTROL". I WAS NOT ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE. THE TRUCK WORKED FINE AFTER I RESTARTED IT. THIS HAS HAPPENED 5 TIMES. WE WERE LUCKY THAT NOBODY HIT US ON THE FREEWAY. THROTTLE BODY NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. 3 DIFFERENT MECHANICS AND 1 ELECTRICIAN SAID THIS A DEFECT AND THEY SEE IT ALL THE TIME WITH THIS ENGINE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS ADVISED THAT THE FUEL PUMP HAD FAILED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THE REPAIR WOULD TAKE THREE MONTHS BECAUSE THE FUEL PUMP WAS ON BACK ORDER AND THERE WAS NO AFTER MARKET FUEL PUMP THAT WOULD WORK ON THE 2005 MODEL YEAR. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 74,000 *TR
WHILE TRAVELING AT 60 MPH, RIGHT REAR TIRE FAILED TO HOLD TOGETHER. A "THUMPING" SOUND WAS HEAD JUST PRIOR TO THE TIRE EXPLODING. DIVER MAINTAINED CONTROL AFTER HITTING THE RETAINING WALL ALONG THE FREEWAY. VEHILE IMPACTED RATAINING WALL ONCE, THEN SPUN AND INPACTED IT AGAIN TOTALING THE VEHICLE AFTER AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. UPON THE ON SCENE INSPECTION, IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED THAT THE TIRE SEPARATED AND LOST ALL TREAD. NO DEATHS HAPPENED AS A RESULT OF THE DRIVER NOT PANICING AND MAINTAINING WHAT CONTROL SHE WAS ABLE TO. TIRE WAS A CONTINENTAL CONTITRAC SUV. *TR

RED LIGHT UP AHEAD. DRIVER SLOWING DOWN GIVING PLENTY OF SPACE. ENGINE STARTED REVVING AND VEHICLE STARTED SPEEDING UP. DRIVER PUSHED BRAKE AS HARD AS SHE COULD. VEHICLE WAS ALMOST STOPPED BEFORE ACCELERATION BUT ACCELERATED TO ABOUT 10 MPH AT THE TIME OF IMPACT. 2005 FORD EXPEDITION STRUCK REAR OF CAR WHICH WAS STOPPED AT THE RED LIGHT. DRIVER TOOK VEHICLE TO MECHANIC AT GAS STATION TO CHECK FOR MECHANICAL PROBLEM- NO DEFECT FOUND. *TR
GETTING ON FREEWAY AN AUDIBLE BIP AND A WARNING CAME ON SCREEN INDICATING TO CHECK ELECTRIC THROTTLE AND A FEW SECONDS LATER THE ENGINE DIED. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. HAD KIDS IN CAR. THIS SHOULD BE A MATTER FOR RECALL. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ALONG AT 55 MPH ENGINE SHUT DOWN. NO POWER BRAKES, STEERING, ETC. INDICATOR MESSAGE ON DASHBOARD SAID "CHECK ELECTRONIC IGNITION". REPAIR COST $ 724.19. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE SPUTTERED WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS APPLIED AND THEN STALLED WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE ENGINE FAIL SAFE LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS AND WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO STATED THAT THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, HOWEVER THE VEHICLE STILL SPUTTERED INTERMITTENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 155,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE ENGINE SHOOK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND THEY STATED THAT THE VARIABLE CAM TIMING PHASER HAD FAILED AND THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
THE ENGINE JUST STALLED AND THE MESSAGE "ENGINE FAIL SAFE MODE" APPEARED. LUCKILY WE WERE RIGHT AT A PARKING LOT THAT WE ROLLED INTO WITH MY HUSBAND STEERING. WE HAD JUST PULLED OFF THE INTERSTATE TRAVELING 65 MPH. IT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN INJURIES AND/OR DEATH. FORD SHOULD FIX THIS PROBLEM. *TR
WE HAVE HAD THREE INCIDENTS OF UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION ON OUR FORD EXPEDITION. ONCE WITH MY DAUGHTER AND THREE GRANDCHILDREN AND TWICE WITH MYSELF. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD AND THEY SAY THERE IS NO KNOWN VEHICLE PROBLEM AND ONLY OFFERED TO HAVE IT TOWED TO A FORD DEALER AND I WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF THE REPAIR. IF FORD IS CORRECT AND THERE IS NO KNOWN PROBLEM, THEN WHY WOULD FORD BE WILLING TO PAY THE COST OF TOWING THE VEHICLE TO A DEALERSHIP? I SPOKE WITH FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE ON MARCH 5TH AND TODAY APRIL 1ST. [XXX] A FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER STATED THE ABOVE. WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH ENGINE STOPPED WORKING MAKING BRAKES AND STEERING FAIL. LIMPED OFF BUSY ROAD LUCKILY! ENGINE LIGHT SHOWED ELECTRONIC THROTTLE FAILURE. NOW CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. GOING TO DEALERS FOR REPAIR TODAY-SINCE THIS IS AN OBVIOUS PROBLEM FOR FORD WHY HAVEN'T THEY ADDRESSED IT! COULD BE DEADLY IF FAILS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC CONDITIONS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY GOING 65 & MY TRUCK COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WAS ALMOST HIT BY A SEMI. A WRENCH SIGN CAME ON, I PUT IT IN PARK & SHUT IT OFF & STARTED IT BACK UP. THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. I BELIEVE SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED,FROM WHAT IM READING ITS HAPPENS TO ALOT OF OWNERS. WHILE I WAS DRIVING DONE THE INTERSTATE, MY FORD EXPEDITION LOST ALL POWER AND COMPLETELY STALLED. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO GET IT OFF THE ROAD TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT ANY INCIDENT. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME. PREVIOUSLY, I HAD MY FUEL PUMP SENSOR CHANGED BECAUSE MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THAT IS WHAT IT INDICATED; HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM STILL EXITS AND MY MECHANICS ARE BAFFLED. VERY DANGEROUS! *TR
ENGINE FAILSAFE MODE CAME ON IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING AND THE TRUCK JUST SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I HAD TO TURN IT OFF AND RESTART IT...IT HAPPENED THREE TIMES IN ONE TRIP. *TR
DRIVING IN CITY TRAFFIC, AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH. THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND ENGINE DIED. WE WERE ABLE TO COAST TO GAS STATION. THE VEHICLE STARTED RIGHT UP AND EVERYTHINGS WORKED FINE. THE NEXT DAY TOOK VEHICLE TO FORD DEALERSHIP. AFTER TROUBLESHOOTING, THEY WERE NOT REALLY SURE OF WHAT WAS THE PROBLEM. BUT THEY SUGGESTED CHANGING THE THROTTLE BODY. WE DECIDED TO TAKE VEHICLE HOME. VEHICLE WORKED FINE UNTIL YESTERDAY, THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN. THIS IS AN UNSAFE CONDITION. THERE IS A LARGE ABOUT OF E-MAIL TRAFFIC ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM, AND FORD HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL. *TR
WAS DRIVING AROUND 40 MILES PER HR AND ENGINE JUST QUIT. NO POWER STEERING. WARNING LIGHT CAME ON REGARDING THROTTLE. LUCKILY WE WERE NOT ON THE INTERSTATE AND COULD PULL OVER. MY SON WILL BE TURNING 16 IN A FEW MONTHS AND HE WAS GOING TO BE DRIVING THIS. NOW WE ARE WORRIED. THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS ON LINE. FORD NEEDS TO RECALL THIS. SOMEONE WILL END UP BEING HURT OVER THIS. I HAVE SEEN THAT REPLACING THROTTLE DOES NOT FIX IT. WE TURNED CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND IT WORKED FINE. YOU DO NOT KNOW WHEN THIS WILL HAPPEN. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE DIED. IT WOULD NOT RESTART. AFTER 1 HOUR VEHICLE THE VEHICLE STARTED AND THEN DIED WITHIN SECONDS. THE FUEL FILTER AND FUEL PUMP WERE REPLACED BECAUSE ALL INDICATIONS LEAD TO BELIEVE THAT THE FUEL PUMP WAS BAD. AFTER REPLACEMENT OF THE FUEL PUMP, VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. LOOKING ON THE INTERNET FOR POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS FROM OTHERS, I FOUND ONE PERSON WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AND FOLLOWED THEIR ADVISE ON HOW TO FIX IT. I FOUND THE "DRIVERS MODULE" ON THE BACK TOPSIDE OF THE FRAME. WHEN THE MODULE WAS REMOVED, IT WAS FOUND TO HAVE TWO LARGE SECTIONS OF CORROSION ABOUT 1/4 INCH THICK. WHEN THE CHUNKS WERE KNOCKED OFF, UNDER THEM WERE TWO HOLES THROUGH THE SIDE OF THE MODULE AND THE CIRCUIT WAS BURNT, THE PLUG WAS ALSO STARTING TO CORRODE. THE PLACEMENT FOR THE MODULE IS A TERRIBLE SPOT. IT IS ALUMINUM ATTACHED TO A STEEL FRAME, WITH NOTHING SEPARATING THEM. WHEN THE NEW MODULE ARRIVED, IT NOW HAS A RUBBER GASKET TO KEEP THEM SEPARATE. THIS LOOKS LIKE A DESIGN FLAW ON FORD'S PART AND A RECALL SHOULD BE ORDERED. FORD SHOULD FURTHER REFUND THE COST OF THE FUEL PUMP BECAUSE ALL INDICATIONS SHOW THAT THE FUEL PUMP IS BAD, WHEN IN TRUTH IT IS THE MODULE AND NOT THE FUEL PUMP. *TR
MY 2005 EXPEDITION WAS TRAVELING AT A SPEED OF 40MPH WHEN IT STOPPED ACCELERATING AND DIED IN TRAFFIC WHILE I WAS TAKING MY KIDS TO SCHOOL. I COULDN'T TURN THE STIRRING WHEEL TO GET OFF OF THE ROAD. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD EXPEDITION. WHILE DRIVING ON AN INCLINE, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE ENGINE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE CONTACT LOST POWER STEERING. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO BRAKE HOWEVER, THE BRAKES FAILED. THE CHECK BODY THROTTLE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY REPLACING THROTTLE BODY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE NOT AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 63,000.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE CENTER LANE ON RT 41 IN PORT CHARLOTTE, WITH AN APPROXIMATE SPEED OF 45 MPH, WHEN THE ENGINE JUST SHUT DOWN. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED TO ME, AND IT'S VERY DANGEROUS. I HAD TO MANEUVER CAREFULLY TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WITH CARS BEEPING, AND SWERVING AROUND ME. I TRIED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, BUT KEPT GETTING AN "ENGINE FAIL SAFE MODE" MESSAGE. I SAT FOR A WHILE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES, AND WHEN I TRIED RESTARTING THE TRUCK, IT MIRACULOUSLY STARTED. ON MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 2012, I WENT OUT TO START MY VEHICLE SO I COULD BRING IT IN TO MY MECHANIC, AND IT WOULDN'T START. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO HIS SHOP. HE INFORMED ME THAT HE HAS SEEN THIS PROBLEM MANY TIMES WITH THIS VEHICLE. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT PEOPLE WERE ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN ON THEM, AND HAS CAUSED ACCIDENTS. HE RESET THE CODE FOR THE THROTTLE BODY, AND THE TRUCK RAN FINE. AFTER DOING AN INTERNET SEARCH ON THIS PROBLEM, I SEE THAT THERE ARE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM. I ALSO CONTACTED FORD TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM, AND THEY SAID THERE WASN'T. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE TRUCK NOW, FOR FEAR THAT IT IS GOING TO SHUT DOWN IN A BUSY INTERSECTION. HOPEFULLY FORD WILL STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND DO A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. *TR
DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND I ATTEMPTED TO STOP AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, EVEN AFTER PUMPING THE BRAKES. SOON AFTERWARD THE LOW FLUID LIGHT WENT ON. I HAD THE VEHICLE TAKEN TO MY LICENSED MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS A RUSTED THROUGH BRAKE LINE. SEVERAL OTHER LOCATIONS WERE HEAVILY RUSTED AND LEAKING AS WELL. I WAS VERY FORTUNATE NOT TO HIT ANYONE, ESPECIALLY SINCE I HAD 5 CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. I HAVE BEEN THE ONLY THE OWNER AND ORDERED THE VEHICLE NEW FROM FORD. THIS VEHICLE IS LIGHTLY USED AND NOT GARAGED. *TR
THE SPARK PLUG BROKE IN THE ENGINE COSTING A LOT OF MONEY TO REPAIR. NOW ANOTHER ONE IS STUCK AND I CANT AFFORD TO GET IT FIXED. THIS COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE FIRE AND CREATE A SAFETY HAZARD. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OUT THERE AND THIS REALLY NEEDS TO BE A RECALL SITUATION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 FORD EXPEDITION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. THE ENGINE FAILURE MODE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC, WHO REPLACED THE FUEL FILTERS AND THE INJECTOR BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED AND LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE THROTTLE BODY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,005 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 119,000.
THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT IS LEAKING EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF WATER UNDER THE CARPET AND THE WATER IS POOLING UNDER THE RUG AND FLOWING INTO THE CHANNEL WHERE THE WIRING HARNESS IS LOCATED. THIS WIRING HARNESS DOES NOT LOOK TO BE PROTECTED FROM WATER AND IT IS A MATER OF TIME BEFORE THE INSULATION ON THIS WIRE BREAKS DOWN AND SHORTS OUT TO THE FRAME. *TR
WARNING LIGHT SAID ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL, THIS IS THE THIRD TIME I HAVE ALMOST HAD A MAJOR ACCIDENT AND FORD TELLS ME TO CALL THEM WHEN I HAVE AN ACCIDENT OR THE CODE SHOWS BACK UP. THEY ADMIT THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE BUT IT MUST FAIL COMPLETELY BEFORE IT CAN BE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY OR RECALL. ALSO THE TRUCK CUTS OUT AT 60MPH AND JERKS UNTIL YOU SPEED UP. THEY ADVISED THEY ARE ALSO AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND COME BACK WHEN IT BREAKS DOWN. *TR
A CLUNK/THUMP NOISE FROM THE REAR WHEN THE TRANSMISSION IS ENGAGED OR SHIFTED, DURING A CHANGE IN VEHICLE DIRECTION OR ON ACCELERATION. HAVE HAD MY TRANS REPLACED ONCE UNDER WARRANTY AND NOW ITS DOING THE SAME THING AGAIN. *TR
