TIRES ARE NOT ON RECALL - HOWEVER CRACKS ARE FORMING ON THE SIDE OF ALL FOUR TIRES WHERE THE TREAD MEETS THE TIRE - SPARE IS OF DIFFERENT BRAND. TAKEN TO FIRESTONE DEALER, THEY CLAIM THIS IS NORMAL - THEY WILL PRO-RATE THE TIRES ONLY - MENTIONED THAT I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THEM BLOWING OUT - MECHANIC TOLD ME "THERE'S NOTHING ELSE I CAN DO FOR YOU THEN" WE ARE WORRIED -- CONSIDERING BUYING NEW TIRES ON OUR OWN ANYWAY BUT FEEL THE NEED TO REPORT THIS PROBLEM. NOT OUT FOR MONEY -- ONLY CONCERN IS SAFETY FOR MY FAMILY AND A BIT ANGRY AT THE FIRESTONE METHOD OF HANDLING ALL OF THIS. FIRESTONE ATX TIRES (P235 75 R15) EXPERIENCED CUPPING, FIRESTONE TOLD CONSUMER THE TIRES WERE FAILING DUE TO IMPROPER MAINTENANCE, CONSUMER REPLACED ALL THE TIRES WITH A DIFFERENT BRAND OF TIRE AND HAS HAD NO PROBLEMS SINCE. *SLC
TWICE WITHIN THE LAST YEAR, WHEN ENGAGING PARKNG BRAKE, PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO FLOOR. AFTER RELEASING AND REAPPLYING THE BRAKE, IT ENGAGED. THIS WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP ATTENTION. OWNER WAS TOLD THAT NO CURRENT RECALL EXISTED ON THE PROBLEM. *AK THE CONSUMER WANTS TO KNOW IF NHTSA'S RECALL INCLUDES THIS VEHICLE. *YH
WAS DRIVING 45MPH & RIGHT FRONT TIRE BLEWOUT AND BECAME SHREDDED. STOPPED VEHICLE & NOTICED NO TREAD LEFT ON TIRE. PUT SPARE ON & THEN TOOK TIRE TO TIRE SHOP, WHERE IT WAS REPLACED. FIRESTONE, ATX RADIAL, P235/75R15 WITH 20,000 MILES.*AK
WHEN BRAKES ARE FIRST USED IN THE MORNING THE BRAKES DONT APPLY EVEN CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SWAY FROM SIDE TO SIDE ALSO NOTICE A CLUNKING NOISE FROM BRAKES IN THE MORNING
CONSUMER HAD FOUR FIRESTONE TIRES REPLACED PRIOR TO RECALL NOTICE BECAUSE A TREAD IN THE CENTER OF THE TIRE WAS BROKEN OPEN CAUSING A FLAT TIRE. NLM
THE STEEL BELTS WERE STICKING OUT OF THE TIRES PRIOR TO RECALL NOTICE 00T-005, CONSUMER REQUESTED REIMBURSEMENT BUT WAS TOLD HE COULD NOT GET HIS MONEY BACK BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A FIRESTONE DEALER. NLM
CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN A 55 MPH FRONTAL COLLISION IN WHICH DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.*AK

CONSUMER HAS HAD TO REPLACE TWO SET OF FIRESTONE WILDERNESS AT TIRES ON VEHICLE. NLM
VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED WITH FIRESTONE TIRES, WHILE DRIVING THE TIRE BLEWOUT AND COMPLETELY SHREDDED, AFTER THE TIRE WAS REPLACED THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE VIBRATION IN THE FRONT END AND DISCOVERED THAT ONE OF THE TIRES HAD A BUBBLE IN IT, CONSUMER REPLACED ALL THREE TIRES, CONSUMER REQUEST REIMBURSEMENT. CONSUMER HAD FIRESTONE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE THAT EXPERIENCED UNUSUAL WEAR AND REPLACED THEM WITH ANOTHER BRAND, NOW THE CONSUMER RECEIVED THE RECALL REPLY CARD, BUT HAS NO WAY OF KNOWING IF THE REPLACED TIRES WERE PART OF THE RECALL. *SLC
WHEN A QUICK STOP IS NEEDED, MY VEHICLE ENDS UP SLIDING INSTEAD OF STOPPING. FEELS LIKE SOMETHING GETS CAUGHT AND PREVENTS THE BRAKES FROM WORKING, ESPECIALLY BAD ON WET ROADS OR WHEN DRIVING DOWN AN INCLINE.*AK

I MAILED IN MY REFUND FORM 9/15/00, 12/21/00 AND FAXED IT 2/1/01. I HAVE CALLED THE FIRESTONE REFUND CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE # 8 TIMES. THEY KEEP TELLING ME THAT IT TAKES A WHILE. THIS IS $500 OF MY MONEY WHICH THEY HAVE HAD FOR A LONG TIME. THE RECALL NOTICE SAID TO SUBMIT A COMPLAINT TO THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION IF THEY FAIL TO EFFECT A REMEDY WITHOUT CHARGE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 65MPH HAD A BLOWOUT ON RIGHT FRONT TIRE. HAD HEARD A FLAPPING SOUND, AND THEN TIRE WENT FLAT. HAD PULLED OVER AND NOTICED TREAD HAD SEPARATED IN PIECES. REPLACED TIRE WITH ANOTHER. 1994, FORD, EXPLORER. HAD FILED A CLAIM FOR REIMBURSEMENT & HAVE NOT RECEIVED IT. *AK FIRESTONE ATX TIRE, P235/75R15. *SLC
BOLTS ARE SEPARATING FROM HINGE OF LIFTGATE WHICH HAS CAUSED PROBLEMS WITH DOOR PROPERLY OPENING AND CLOSING. *AK CONSUMER STATES THE HINGES ARE SEPARATING, BREAKING AWAY FROM THE BODY. *SLC
ENGINE STALLS WHILE DRIVING AND IT WOLUD START AGAIN AFTER WAITING FOR LIKE 4 MINUTES AND LATELY IT WOULD STALL 3 TIMES IN A ROW .*AK

THE VEHICLE HAS EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH THE SUSPENSION SYSTEM IN THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL AREA (IT APPEARS OTHER INFORMATION WAS SENT BY CONSUMER, HOWEVER IS NOT WITHIN THE DOCUMENTATION PROVIDED FOR ANALYST). *MJS
CONSUMER IS NOT SATISFIED WITH THE DENIAL FOR REIMBURSEMENT FROM FIRESTONE, CONSUMER STATES HE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH HIS RADIAL ATX TIRES AS EARLY AS 1994 BUT WAS DENIED BECAUSE HE TOOK CARE OF THE PROBLEM HIMSELF AFTER A FIRESTONE DEALER DID NOT WANT TO ASSIST, CONSUMER STATES HE FILED A CLAIM ON OCTOBER 11, 2000 BUT WAS NOT DENIED UNTIL APRIL 13, 2001 CONSUMER DOES NOT UNDERSTAND WHY IT TOOK SIX MONTHS TO DENY CLAIM.*JB
NOTICED THE PEDAL STICKING SEVERAL YEARS AGO, HOWEVER I THOUGHT IT WAS A PROBLEM UNIQUE TO MY CAR AND IT WASN'T SO BAD THAT I NEEDED TO SPEND A LARGE SUM OF MONEY TO FIX IT. HOWEVER, A CO-WORKER TOLD ME THAT HE HAD RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE COVERING 97-98 EXPLORERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. AFTER CONTACTING THE FORD CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER AND WAS BASICALLY TOLD NOTHING COULD BE DONE BECAUSE MY MODEL YEAR WASN'T LISTED IN THE RECALL. I FEEL THAT THIS PROBLEM ALSO AFFECTS MY MODEL YEAR AND THAT THE RECALL SHOULD BER EXTENDED TO COVER MY AUTO ALSO. *AK
