ABS BRAKES LOCKED AT 40 MPH BECAUSE BOLT BROKE, CRASH NARROWLY AVERTED
LEFT FRONT STABILIZER BAR LINK (SWAY BAR LINK) BROKE WHEN DRIVING OVER BUMP IN ROAD. CAR DROVE POORLY AFTER THAT. FORD REPLACED BOTH FRONT LINKS AND CHARGED ME A TOTAL OF $81 FOR THE REPAIR.
TRANSMISSION FAILED TWICE UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. LOST POWER UNDER CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES. SAME PROBLEM BOTH TIMES. ENGINE SEIZED WHEN VEHICLE HIT A PUDDLE OF WATER AT LOW SPEED. AIR INTAKE IS MOUNTED UNUSALLY LOW ON THIS EXPLORER ALLOWING WATER INTO THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER AND CAUSING HYDROSTATIC LOCK. FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS BEEN CONTACTED AND READS A SCRIPTED RESPONSE WHEN I HAVE TRIED TO GET ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT WHAT I CONSIDER A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW. *AK
CONSUMER STARTED EXPERIENCING DIFFICULTY CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE, THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE, ONE PERSON WAS INJURED WHILE PUTTING OUT THE FIRE, THE AXLE HAD BROKEN AND MELTED, BUT NO ONE KNOWS EXACTLY WHAT CAUSED THE FIRE. *SLC

TREAD CAME OFF PARTIALLY OFF THE TIRES WHILE DRIVING, AND WAS BANGING AGAINST THE VEHICLE. THESE WERE FIRESTONE ATX TIRES. TIRES HAVE BEEN REPLACED WITH ANOTHER SET OF ATX. *AK FIRESTONE ATX P235/75/R15 *MW
BACK REAR TIRE BLEW. TREAD WAS DETACHED FROM THE TIRE IN PLACES. *AK( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 225/70R15 )
TRAVELLING AT 45MPH IN CENTER LANE OF 6 LANE HIGHWAY WITH LITTLE TRAFFIC IN A MODERATE RAIN STORM. ROAD WAS STRAIGHT. DID NOT TURN STEERING WHEEL. DID NOT APPLY BRAKES. VEHICLE STARTED FOR NO APPARENT REASON TO SPIN BY ITSELF TO THE RIGHT. AT THIS MOMENT, BRAKES WERE APPLIED HARD AND STEADY. VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND AND CONTINUED TO SPIN TURNING BACKWARDS REGARDLESS OF FRANTIC TURNING OF STEERING WHEEL INTO TURN INTO THE SKID. VEHICLE CONTINUED TO TRAVEL BACKWARDS AND SLIGHTLY TOWARDS THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. VEHICLE SLOWED SOMEWHAT, BUT CONTINUED TO TRAVEL ACROSS THE REMAINING LANES OF THE HIGHWAY AND SHOULDER HITTING THE GUARDRAIL WITH THE LEFT REAR CORNER FIRST, THEN BOUNCING UNTIL THE RIGHT FRONT HIT THE GUARDRAIL AND FINALLY STOPPED. VEHICLE WAS NOW FACING IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF TRAFFIC. ABS DASH LIGHT WAS BURNING INDICATING A FAILURE. THE IMPACT KNOCKED MOST OF THE AIR OUT OF THE LEFT FRONT TIRE WHICH CONTINUED TO HOLD AIR PERFECTLY ONCE REINFLATED. MY PASSENGER WAS SLIGHTLY HURT ON THE SCALP AND CHEEK. SEATBELTS WERE BEING WORN. THIS FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE OCCURRED WITHOUT ANY INPUT FROM THE DRIVER. THE REPAIRS WILL REACH ABOUT $8000.00. I HAVE REQUESTED TO THE REPAIR SHOP TO PROVIDE ME AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THE ABS LIGHT IS STAYING ON AND IF IT COULD HAVE GONE ON CAUSING THE START OF THE VEHICLE ROTATION. THIS IS THE 3RD EXPLORER I HAVE OWNED AND HAVE CONSIDERABLE EXPERIENCE DRIVING THESE TYPE SUV'S IN ALL KINDS OF WEATHER. SOMETHING HAD TO CAUSE THIS ACCIDENT OTHER THAN DRIVER ERROR.
BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS FAILED CAUSING NOISE. MJS
STEEL BELT CAME THROUGH FRONT TIRE WHILE DRIVING. TOWN FAIR TIRE EXAMINED AND FOUND A SECOND TIRE WITH SEPARATION.( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 235/75R15 )
MY FORD EXPLORER LIMITED AWD V-8 STARTED TO SHAKE AND BOUNCE WHILE I WAS DRIVING NEAR MY HOUSE IN MILILANI HAWAII. I IMMEDIATELY DROVE IT TO THE NEAREST TIRE DEALER, GOODYEAR AUTO SERVICE CENTER IN MILILANI HAWAII AND SPOKE WITH THE GENERAL MANAGER. HE INSPECTED MY VEHICLE TIRES AND DETERMINED THAT I HAD EXPERIENCED "PREMATURE" TREAD BELT SEPARATION AND ADVISED THAT I NOT OPERATE THE VEHICLE UNTIL ALL AFFECTED TIRES WERE REPLACED. HE STATED THAT OPERATION OF MY VEHICLE W/O REPLACING THE AFFECTED TIRES WOULD RESULT IN TOTAL TIRE FAILURE WHICH COULD EXPOSE THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER(S) TO HARM, INJURY OR DEATH. AS SUCH, I COMPLIED WITH HIS RECOMMENDATION THAT THE AFFECTED TIRES BE REPLACED. THIS TOOK PLACE APPROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS BEFORE FIRESTONE RECALLED ALL FIRESTONE RADIAL ATX TIRES TWO WEEKS AGO. I WOULD LIKE TO NOTE THAT FIRESTONE DID IN FACT SEND ME A RECALL NOTICE (UNSOLICITED) BUT THAT THE RECALL DATE IS BETWEEN JAN. 01, 2000 AND AUGUST 9, 2000. ALTHOUGH NOT REQUIRED BY LAW, I FEEL THAT THEY SHOULD EXPAND THEIR "RECALL" TO INCLUDE ANY CUSTOMER THAT CAN SHOW DOCUMENTED PROOF THAT THEY HAD REPLACED THEIR FIRESTONE RADIAL ATX P235/75R15 TIRES DUE TO TREAD BELT SEPARATION. WHEN STEPPING ON BRAKE, VEHICLE ACCELLERATED AS BRAKE PEDAL IS LOWER THAN THE GAS PEDAL. THIS HAPPENED TO TWO DIFFERENT DRIVERS OF ABOVE EXPLORER, AND TO A WITNESS OF TODAYS ACCIDENT IN HIS OWN EXPLORER
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 20-25MPH, FORWARD DRUM BROKE ON THE TRANSMISSION. VEHICLE KEPT TRYING TO DOWNSHIFT ON ITS OWN. VEHICLE WOULD WORK FINE IN REVERSE, BUT NOT IN FORWARD. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER TO CORRECT PROBLEM. *AK
PE00020, ORGINIAL EQUIPMENT ON THE 1996 EXPLORER. REAR TIRE TREAD SEPARATED WHILE DRIVING IN WHICH TREAD WRAPPED AROUND REAR AXLE, CAUSING VEHICLE TO SPIN AROUND. FIRESTONE FIXED DAMAGE AND REPLACED ALL TIRES WITH SAME BRAND. FIRESTONE SAID IT WAS AN ISOLATED PROBLEM. *AK *SLC
ON OCT 12, 1999, WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED ON A 2-LANE STATE HIGHWAY NEAR MOJAVE, CA ON A HOT, AUTUMN DAY, MY RIGHT REAR TIRE LOST TREAD/DELAMINATED CAUSING A TOTAL LOSS OF CONTROL. I SWERVED SEVERAL TIMES TRYING TO REGAIN CONTROL, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE SUV ROLLED COMPLETELY TO THE RIGHT, LANDING UPRIGHT FACING THE RIGHT SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. FORTUNATELY, THERE WAS NO ONCOMING OR TRAILING TRAFFIC, SO NO OTHER VEHICLES/PERSONS WERE INVOLVED. I WAS WEARING MY SEATBELT & WAS VERY FORTUNATE TO SUSTAIN ONLY VERY MINOR INJURIES & WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE SUV W/ SOME ASSISTANCE FROM PEOPLE WHO STOPPED TO HELP. AS I COMPLAINED OF NECK PAIN, I WAS AMBULANCED TO THE ANTELOPE VALLEY HOSPITAL, BUT WAS RELEASED W/ ONLY MINOR BRUISES, CUTS & SORE MUSCLES. MY INSURANCE COMPANY (20TH CENTURY) DECLARED THE VEHICLE A TOTAL LOSS (PICTURES AVAILABLE) AND PAID ME $24,072.70, PLUS COVERED MY AMBULANCE & EMERGENCY ROOM BILLS. PRIOR TO THIS ACCIDENT I HAD ALWAYS MAINTAINED MY SUV IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. TIRE PRESSURE WAS ROUTINELY CHECKED IN CONJUNCTION W/ REGULAR OIL CHANGES EVERY 3000 MILES. ALL TIRES HAD PLENTY OF REMAINING TREAD & HAD BEEN RECENTLY ROTATED & BALANCED. I CONTEND THAT THIS ACCIDENT WAS DUE TO THE DEFECTIVE DESIGN OF THE FIRESTONE AT TIRES. I HAVE SINCE PURCHASED A 2000 EDDIE BAUER EXPLORER W/ THE INSURANCE PROCEEDS PLUS ANOTHER APPROXIMATE $11,000 OUT OF MY OWN POCKET. ADDITIONALLY, I IMMEDIATELY TRADED IN THE STANDARD FIRESTONE WILDERNESS AT TIRES FOR MORE TRUSTWORTHY ( & MORE EXPENSIVE) BF GOODRICH AT TIRES. I WILL NEVER USE FIRESTONE TIRES ON ANY OF MY CARS AGAIN. IF A CLASS ACTION SUIT SHOULD BE FILED AGAINST FIRESTONE FOR THESE NUMEROUS ACCIDENTS INVOLVING THEIR ALL TERRAIN TIRES W/ FORD EXPLORERS, I WOULD LIKE TO BE INCLUDED IN THE SUIT. SPONTANEOUS BLOWOUT LEFT REAR TIRE DUE TO DELAMINATION OF TREAD AND INNER SIDEWALL. INSPECTION SHOWED MAJOR IDENTICAL DAMAGE ON RIGHT REAR ALSO. BOTH TIRES REPLACED AT OWNER EXPENSE. FIRESTONE RECALL LIMITS REIMBURSEMENT TO TIRES REPLACED AFTER JAN. 1, 2000. THAT IS RIDICULOUS; IF ANYTHING, THEY ARE MORE CULPABLE FOR TIRES THAT FAILED EARLIER IN THEIR LIFE( DOT NUMBER: VDHL TIRE SIZE: P235/75R-1 )
FRONT STABILIZER LINKAGE HAD TO BE REPAIRED. AFTED CONSUMER HEARD A SNAP, A MINUTE LATER, CAR WENT TO SHOULDER LIKE A BIG WIND HAD PUSHED IT. VEHICLE STARTED TO ROCK BACK AND FORTH, AND IT WAS HARD TO STEER.*AK
THE AIR INTAKE SYSTEM POINTS DOWN AT THE WHEEL WELL, CAUSING IT TO INJEST WATER DURING STREAM CROSSINGS. I CROSSED 3 STREAMS AT SHALLOW DEPTH (LESS THAN HUB HIGH), AND JUST ENOUGH SPEED TO MAKE IT THROUGH. ON THE THIRD STREAM CROSSING, THE ENGINE DIED. AT THE DEALER'S, WATER WAS FOUND IN THE AIR INTAKE SYSTEM, AND IN THE ENGINE, CAUSING IT TO SEIZE UP, & NEED TO BE REPLACED.
TWO DAYS PRIOR TO THE TREAD SEPERATING FROM THE FIRESTONE ATX, I HAD TO REMOVE AND REPLACE WITH THE SPARE THE PASSANGER SIDE REAR TIRE DUE TO AN EGG FORMING ON THE TIRE. *AK( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P235/75R15 )
THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOY EVEN WITH THE TOTAL LOST OF THE EXPLORER IT WAS A HEAD ON COLLITION WITH ANOTHER CAR AT ABOUT 35MPH PLEASE INVESTIGATE SO OTHER PEOPLE DOES NOT GET INJURED THANKS FOR YOUR TIME AND COOPERATION TO THIS MATTER

WHILE TRAVELLING I-20 WESTBOUND SUN OCT 3, 1999. (3 OCCUPANTS WERE IN THE EXPLORER) THE LEFT FRONT TIRE HAD AN UNCONTROLLABLE VIBRATION. I THOUGHT THE TIRE WAS OUT OF BALANCE. THE FASTER I DROVE THE SMOOTHER THE RIDE WAS.. AFTER RETURNING HOME (20MILES). MY HUSBAND (WAS NOT IN THE EXPLORER AT THE TIME) INSPECTED THE TIRE. THE TREAD HAD SEPARATED FROM THE INSIDE SIDEWALL. HE COULD LITERALLY PUT HIS HAND BETWEEN THE TREAD AND THE TIRE. THE LENGTH OF THIS SPLIT WAS APPROX 5 INCHES. WE REPLACED THESE TIRES ON OCT 6, 1999 WITH A NEW SET OF FIRESTONE ATX TIRES. THE OLD TIRES WERE STILL IN VERY GOOD SHAPE AND DID NOT NEED REPLACING. AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT WE THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A "FLUKE". IF I KNEW THEN WHAT I KNOW NOW. THERMOSTAT LOCKED UP AND CAUSED ANTIFREEZE TO LEAK OUT OF RESEVROIR. *ET

TIRE BLEW OUT FROM SIDE AS DESCRIBED BY THE 15" RECALL, TREAD WAS STILL GOOD. BLOWOUT WAS ON INTERSTATE, FORTUNATELY PERSON DRIVING WAS ABLE TO SAFELY GET TO SIDE OF ROAD. REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES AFTER FAILURE, HOWEVER, STILL HAVE SPARE. *AK( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: P255/70R16 )
THE LEFT REAR TIRE BLEWOUT CAUSING THE DRIVER TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND SWERVED TO THE RIGHT THE OVERTURNED SEVERAL TIMES AND CAME TO REST AFTER STRIKING SOME TREES AND STRUBS ON THE WEST SHOULDER, PASSENGERS #1, #5, #6 AND THE DRIVER WERE EJECTED, PASSENGERS #5 AND #6 WERE SEATED IN THE REAR CARGO AREA PRIOR TO THE CRASH, 2 PEOPLE WERE KILLED, 2 HAD INCAPACITATING INJURIES, 2 HAD NON-INCAPACITATING INJURIES AND ONE HAD POSSIBLE INJURIES (FLORIDA TRAFFIC CRASH REPORT, BRIDGESTONE/FIRESTONE, P235/75R15, RADIAL ATX M/S, LEFT REAR). WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 65 MPH AND USING CRUISE CONTROL, CONSUMER TRIED TO SLOW DOWN, BUT CRUISE CONTROL LOCKED UP. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP BY HITTING THE BRAKES NOTHING HAPPENED. SO CONSUMER TAPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL, AND CAR ACCELERATED ALL TO 90MPH. CONSUMER THEN PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL AND SHUT CAR OFF. TURNED CAR BACK ON, AND RPMS WENT UP TO 5, AND SOUNDED AS THOUGH CAR WAS ABOUT TO TAKE OFF AT FULL SPEED IF FOOT HAD BEEN TAKEN OFF THE BRAKES. *AK

ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT ON A 1996, FORD, EXPLORER. LEFT FRONT AND RIGHT REAR TIRE TREAD SEPARATED AND CREATED A VIBRATION. TREAD KEPT REMAINING WAS 6/32 AND 7/32 INCHES.CONSUMER WILL HAVE THE FIFTH TIRE REPLACED BY FIRESTONE.*AK THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED TREAD SEPARATION ON TWO FIRESTONE ATX TIRES AND REPLACED ALL TIRES WITH GOODYEAR. *YH
DRIVING ON FREEWAY AND TIRE JUST CAME APART, IT LOOKED LIKE WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THOSE BIG TRUCK TIRES COME APART, I DID NOT REPORT IT TO ANY ONE BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A FREAK OCCURANCE, I'VE GOTTEN GO SERVICE OUT OF THEM BUT KNOW I AN AFRAID FOR MY WIFE AND CHILDREN WHO USE TE VEHICLE.( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 25570R16 )
PRIOR TO RECALL, CONSUMER REPLACED THE FIRESTONE WILDERNESS ATX TIRES DUE TO TREAD SEPARATION, CONSUMER WAS DENIED BY FIRESTONE STATING THE TIRES WERE REPLACED PRIOR TO THE ANNOUNCEMENT.( FIRESTONE TIRES P235/75R15) *YD
ENGINEERS REPORT BY CERTIFIED PROFESSIONALS DETERMINED THAT THE TIRE WAS MANUFACTURED DEFECTIVELY IN THAT THE TREAD WAS NOT PROPERLY BONDED TO THE BELTS, WHICH ALLOWED THE TREAD TO BECOME SEPARATED FROM THE BELTS, ALTERING THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF THE TIRE. THIS SEPARATION CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO FLIP FIVE TIMES, TOTALING THE VEHICLE AND INJURING THE DRIVER. THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED IN TEXAS, IN HOT WEATHER AND ON A HIGHWAY. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAYVEHICLE WAS GOING UP A HILL WHEN IT STARTED TO LOSE POWER AND SUDDENLY CUT OFF DUE TO A BROKEN TRANSMISSION PART.
THE LEFT REAR TIRE SEPARATED AT 70MPH, THE TIRE STAYED INFLATED AND WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE TREAD WRAPPED AROUND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE LINE (CUTTING IT) AND FLAPPED AGAINST THE TAILGATE OF THE EXPLORER. I TOOK THE EXPLORER TO MY FORD DEALER, I ASKED THEM IF THIS WAS A RECALL ITEM AT WHICH TIME THEY TOLD ME THE TIRES SEPERATE LIKE THAT. I THEN REPLACE THE BRAKE LINE AND BOUGHT NEW WILDERNESS TIRES FROM THE FORD DEALER. I HAVE STILL NOT FIXED THE DAMAGE TO THE EXPLORER OTHER THAN THE BRAKE LINE.*AK( DOT NUMBER: )
ON 9-12-99, AT APPROXIMATELY 4:30PM, MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HER EXPLORER AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH ON THE BELTWAY 8 IN HOUSTON. THE LEFT REAR TIRE SHREDDED AND HAD A BLOW OUT. SHE THEN LOST CONTROL OF THE AUTO. THE AUTO TURNED RIGHT AND TRAVELED TOWARD THE RIGHT HAND CONCRETE BARRIER. SHE FRANTICALLY TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL, AND JUST BEFORE HITTING THE BARRIER, SHE WAS ABLE TO TURN THE CAR TO THE LEFT. THE CAR THEN DID "360'S" CAREENING ACROSS ALL THE LANES OF THE TOLL WAY. THE CAR STOPPED PARALLEL TO THE LEFT CONCRETE BARRIER, APPROX. 12" FROM THE BARRIER. A HARRIS CO. CONSTABLE STOPPED AND HAD THE CAR TOWED, DUE TO THE DAMAGE TO THE LEFT REAR OF THE CAR. WE ADVISED MACHAIK FORD THAT THEY SHOULD PAY FOR REPLACING THE TIRE, DUE TO ONGOING PROBLEMS WITH THE TIRES. SERVICE MANAGER MARY STATED "WE ARE NOT AWARE OF ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE TIRES." SHE WAS TOLD THE MATTER WOULD BE REFERRED TO MY ATTORNEY. AT THAT POINT, I ASKED THAT THE TIRE BE PUT INSIDE MY CAR AND MY SPARE PUT ON. WHEN I PICKED UP THE CAR, NO ONE AT MAK HAIK HAD ANY IDEA WHERE MY TIRE WAS. NOBODY KNEW WHAT HAD HAPPENED TO IT. I FEEL THEY INTENTIONALLY HID EVIDENCE ON MY TIRE PROBLEM, AFTER I ADVISED THEM AN ATTORNEY WOULD BE INVOLVED.( DOT NUMBER: )
WHEN BRAKE PADS WERE BEING REPLACE, MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THE BUSHING ON THE FRONT LEFT DRIVER'S SIDE WAS MISSING. THE BUSHING HAS NOT BEEN REPLACED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A ACCIDENT, THE VEHICLE WAS HIT ON THE REAR LEFT SIDE WHICH CAUSED THE DRIVER TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE RESULTING IN IT ROLLING OVER 3 1/4 TIMES, THE PASSENGER WAS KILLED AND THE DRIVER SUSTAINED EXTENSIVE INJURIES INCLUDING A BROKEN NECK, THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THAT THE RECALL 00V-402 FOR FRONT SWAY BARS MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE ACCIDENT AND WAS RECEIVED AFTER THE ACCIDENT OCCURED, DURING THE ACCIDENT NEITHER AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR WHEEL ALIGNMENT AND TO HAVE TIRES BALANCED, BUT WAS ADVISED BY DEALER TAHT TIRES COULD NOT BE BALANCED BECAUSE THEY WERE BEYOND BALANCING AND THAT INSIDE CONTAINED ONLY WIRE, CONSUMER REPLACED ALL FOUR FIRESTONE ATX TIRES, CONSUMER REQUESTED REIMBURSEMENT BUT WAS DENIED BECAUSE TIRES WERE PURCHASED BEFORE RECALL ANNOUNCEMENT. *JB
3RD TRANSMISSION IN 35K MILES, FORD WON'T WARRANTY. TRANSMISSIONS FAIL AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND HAS NEARLY CAUSED 3 ACCIDENTS.
TIRE TREAD CAME OFF ON FREEWAY WHILE TRAVELING 65MPH, CAR SHOOK AND THE TREAD DID SOME DAMAGE TO THE CAR.........I REPLACED ALL MY TIRES IN JANUARY WITH WILDERNESS AT,I FEEL ALL THE WILDERNESS TIRES SHOULD BE LOOKED AT AND NOT JUST A WAY TO CUT BACK ON THE RECALLS BY BLAMING IT ON THE DECATUR PLANT ..I DONT FEEL SAFE DRIVING WITH THESE TIRES ON MY CAR, I HAD IT HAPPEN ONCE WITHOUT INJURIES AND DONT WANT TO WAIT TILL MORE PEOPLE DIE OR HAVE INJURIES.....( DOT NUMBER: VDHL1PM TIRE SIZE: 235/75/R15 )
TIRE DELAMINATED WHILE DRIVING ON A MULTI-LANE HIGHWAY IN MODERATE TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SLOWED AND MY WIFE REACTED BY FURTHER SLOWING THE VEHICLE TO PREVENT FURTHER VEHICLE JARRING/SWAYING. SHE WAS ABLE TO FIGHT THE LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL, AND CROSS SEVERAL LANES OF TRAFFIC TO STOP THE VEHICLE ON THE SHOULDER. THE TIRE FLAP TORE THE WHEEL WELL AND SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, CAUSING OVER$2000 DAMAGE. THIS FAILURE PUT THE LIVES OF MY WIFE, TWO YOUNG CHILDREN, TWO OTHER PASSENGERS, AND OTHER DRIVERS IN GRAVE DANGER. I AM OFFENDED THAT FIRESTONE AND FORD HAVE NOT ACCEPTED RESPONSIBILITY AND PUT CONTAINMENT PLANS INTO ACTION. THIS IS THE SECOND OCCURRANCE OF A TIRE ISSUE ON THIS VEHICLE (WITH THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT FIRESTONE RADIAL ATX TIRES). WHEN THE FIRST OCCURRED, WE NOTICED A THUMPING SOUND AND UPON INSPECTION FOUND THAT THE TREAD WAS MISSING (DOWN TO HE STEEL BELT) IN ONE LOCALIZED AREA OF THE INNER EDGE OF THE TREAD (ABOUT 4" DIAMETER FAILURE). I FOUND THIS AN ODD FAILURE AND APPROACHED THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP, WHO ATTRIBUTED IT TO WHEEL ALIGNMENT. THEY CLAIMED NO RESPONSIBILITY AND OFFERED NO SUGGESTION. THE SERVICE MANAGER EVEN RESORTED TO VULGER LANGUAGE DIRECTED AT ME. I SPOKE TO A CUSTOMER MEDIATOR AND BERGE FORD EVENTUALLY PERFORMED A WHEEL ALIGNMENT FREE, BUT I PAID FOR THE TIRE REPLACEMENT (2 TIRES). I DID NOT REPORT THIS TO FIRESTONE AT THE TIME. THE FLUID HAS LEAKED OUT OF BOTH FRONT SHOCK ABSORBERS. I CONTINUE TO HAVE ISSUES WITH ENGINE PING AND GAVE UP AFTER BERGEFORD ATTEMPTED 3 TIMES TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. *AK( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 235/75R15 )
STEP ON BRAKES & FOOT HITS GAS PEDAL. BRAKE PEDAL IS BELOW GAS PEDAL. PLEASE CALL ME FOR MORE INFO AND THAT FORD WAS CONTACTED AND DENIES ANY PROBLEM OR OTHER COMPLAINTS. THIS LIFE THREATENING PROBLEM HAPPENED TO THIS VEHICLE AND AT LEAST TWO OTHER VEHICLES.
THE FIRESTONE (ATX P 235/75R15) TIRES WERE REPLACED DUE TO SEPARATION PRIOR TO RECALL (00T-005) NOTIFICATION, CONSUMER IS REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT. *MJS
WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH APPLY THE BRAKES AND THEY WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOORBOAR VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN, BUT DIDN'T COME TO A STOP, CAUSING THE CONSUMER TO REAR END ANOTHER VEHICLE. CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE FENDER. *AK
REAR LIFTGATE BROKE. OCCUPANT CANNNOT OPEN DOOR FROM THE INSIDE OR FROM OUTSIDE. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY TRANSMISSION WENT OUT, AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ABLE TO ACCELERATE. DEALER HAS SEEN VEHICLE. *AK
