WHILE TRAVELING 70 MPH VEHICLES IN FRONT OF CONSUMER STOPPED SUDDENLY. WHEN CONSUMER STEPPED ON BRAKE PEDAL IT RESPONDED NORMALLY, BUT ABS BRAKES LOCKED UP, VEHICLE SKIDDED, AND EVENTUALLY CAME TO A STOP. NO ACCIDENT OR INJURIES OCCURRED. 5 PASSENGERS WERE IN VEHICLE AT TIME OF INCIDENT.NO PRIOR WARNINGS. *AK AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT, THE BRAKES FAILED BUT WORKED PROPERLY WHEN APPLIED AGAIN. *YH
THERE WAS A VERY LOUD NOISE COMING FROM ENGINE. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND THEY REPLACED THE ENGINE LIFTERS. 5 DAYS LATER, PROBLEM REOCCURRED. VEHICLE HAS HAD 4 ENGINES IN LAST TWO YEARS. *AK ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE CHECK ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON. DEALER REPLACED CAM SENSOR AND GAS CAP. HOWEVER LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. OCCASIONALLY THERE IS A ROUGH IDLE AND VEHICLE FEELS AS IF IT IS ABOUT TO STALL. DEALER REPLACED CYLINER HEAD GASKET. TRANSMISSION SLIPPING. DEALER FOUND 2 3 SHIFT VALVES STICKING. *TT
GOODYEAR WRANGLER TIRES P255/70R16 EXPERIENCED BELT SEPARATION, THE 2 TIRES HAD LESS THAN 100 MILES ON THEM WHEN CONSUMER STARTED NOTICING POOR RIDE AND NOISE FROM FAULTY TIRES, DEALER REPLACED TIRES. *SLC
WHILE DRIVING AT NORMAL SPEED VEHICLE DIED, NO STEERING/ NO BRAKES. CONSUMER WAS ALMOST KILLED.*AK
DT: CONSUMER STATES THAT 6 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE SHE CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER AND TOLD THEM THERE WAS A CLATTERING SOUND COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE VEHICLE, AND ON THE WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE RECALL REPAIRED, THE MOTOR WENT OUT. CONSUMER HAD PREVIOUSLY TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO MERLE KELLY FORD IN CHANUTE, KANSAS TO HAVE THE DRIVETRAIN REPAIRED, BUT WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. SHE RECEIVED A RECALL ON THE DRIVETRAIN, AND ON THE WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP, THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED. THERE WAS A SPAN OF YEARS I BETWEEN THE TIME SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WHEN THE RECALL WAS ISSUED. *AK
I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT APPROXIAMETLY 75 MPH. TREAD OF TIRE PEELED AWAY FROM THE SIDEWALLS ALMOST PERFECTLY. I HAD TRAVELED APPROXIMATELY 120 MILES NON-STOP WHEN BLOWOUT OCCURRED. THE FIRESTONE WILDERNESS TIRES WERE CHECKED AT THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOR THE PROPER TIRE PRESSURE, HOWEVER LATER THE CONSUMER FOUND OUT THAT THEY HAD BEEN UNDER INFLATED. *MJS
CONSUMER STATES TIRE IS FLAT. A LEAK WAS FOUND IN THE SIDEWALL OF THE FIRESTONE WILDERNESS AT 235/75R15 TIRE. DEALER REPLACED BAD TIRE. CONSUMER RECEIVED REIMBURSEMENT FOR TIRE THROUGH TIRE REPLACEMENT PROGRAM HOWEVER, DID NOT RECEIVE REIMBURSEMENT FOR 4 ADDITIONAL WILDERNESS AT 15 INCH TIRES (SERIAL # W2HL 1PY379). *TT
REAR SEAT LOOSE NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR INSTALLATION OF A CHILD SAFETY SEAT. DEALER REFUSED TO FIX SAID IT WAS NOT A DEFECT OR SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE CHILD WOULD BE SECURED TO THE FLOOR. THE SEAT BEING LOOSE WOULD NOT EFFECT THEIR SAFETY.
THE VEHICLE IS NOW AT THE DEALERS GETTING A WHOLE NEW ENGINE REPLACED AND THEY ARE REQUIRING THAT I PAY HALF THE COST. I WANT FORD TO BY THIS LEMON BACK. I CAN NOT AFFORD THIS CAR ANYLONGER WITH ALL OF THE MAJOR PROBLEMS ITS GIVING ME.*AK

ON 5 NOVEMBER I WAS DRIVING TO CHURCH AND DECIDED TO STOP THE CAR BY THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TAKE OFF MY JACKET AND PLACE IT ON THE BACK SEAT. I BELIEVE I PUT THE GEAR INTO PARK, LEFT THE ENGINE RUNNING, AND GOT OUT. THE NEXT THING I KNEW THE CAR WAS DRIVING AWAY, UNMANNED. IT WENT OFF THE ROAD, THEN RECROSSED THE ROAD, AND FINALLY ENDED UP IN SOME TREES. I WAS MODERATELY INJURED WHEN I FELL TRYING TO OPEN THE DOOR OF THE ROLLING CAR. ON BOTH REAR TIRES THERE IS VISIBLE EVIDENCE OF CRACKS DEVELOPING AROUND THE EDGES OF THE TREAD ,CONSUMER CAN ACTUALLY SEE CORD . *AK FIVE TIRES WERE REPLACED AT OWNER'S EXPENSE DUE TO DISCOVERY OF VISIBLE CRACKS AND TREAD SEPARATION ON BOTH REAR TIRES. *YH
THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH THE LOWER BALL JOINTS AND SMOKE EMITTED FROM THE STEERING COLUMN, THE DEALER REPLACED THE RELAY SWITCH.*MR THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL INDICATOR. INTERMITTENTLY WITHOUT WARNING WHEN THE BRAKES WERE FULLY APPLIED THE LIGHTS STAYED ON. WHEN THE BRAKE WAS DISENGAGED, THE INDICATOR SIGNALED AGAIN, IN SPITE OF REPLACEMENT THE PROBLEM THE CONTINUED INTERMITTENTLY, HOWEVER THE DEALER STATED THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. *TS *JB
FIRESTONE SAYS THIS TIRE IS NOT ON RECALL LIST. IT SHOULD BE. FORD WILL TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY. MY QUESTION TO THE DEALERSHIP WAS WHETHER OR NOT THEY KNEW ABOUT A PROBLEM WITH FIRESTONE TIRES AT THE TIME THEY SOLD ME THE VECHILE. SHE WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 25MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND HIT A POTHOLE IN THE STREET, AND FRONT LEFT TIRE WAS PUNCTURD INSIDE OF THE TIRE. SHE TOOK THE SPARE OUT AND REPLACED IT. SHE TOOK THE TIRE TO A TIRE REPAIR SHOP TRIED TO REPAIR AND THE TIRE WOULD NOT HOLD AIR AND THE TIRE STARTED SPLITTING AT THE MIDDLE OF THE TIRE. THE TIRES ARE FIRESTONE WILDERNESS AT P23575R15. SHE HAS RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER.*AK THE FIRESTONE DEALER REFUSES TO REPLACE THE TIRE EVEN AFTER TELLING THE CONSUMER THAT THE TIRE WOULD BE REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE. *SLC

HAD MY TIRES CHECKED AT FIRESTONE BUT DID NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE, DID NOT SEE THE TIRES MYSELF. I FELT VERY UNSAFE DRIVING MY OWN NEW VEHICLE, SO I WENT TO A PLACE THAT MY SON KNOWS THE PEOPLE VERY WELL. GOODYEAR. WHILE THE TRUCK WAS UP ON THE MOUNT, I INSPECTED THE TIRES MYSELF AND HAD NOTICE SOMETHING ON THE SIDEWALL FACING THE INSIDE TRUCK. IT WAS ON ALL THE TIRES SIDEWALL. AND OUTER WALL. LOOKS LIKE CRACKING AND PEELING. ALSO THE OUTER WALL ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE TRUCK IS TURNING A FUNNY COLOR. WHEN I ASKED SOMEONE TO LOOK AT THEM, A GOOD FRIEND, THEY SAID IT WAS THE BELTS READY TO GIVE WAY. THE GENTLEMEN AT GOODYEAR, WAS VERY CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY AND THAT OF MY FAMILY. THEY REPLACED MY TIRES OF COURSE I PAID FOR THEM. THEY TOOK THE TIME TO MARK THE RECIEPT OF THE PURCHASE WITH THE DAMAGE OF THE TIRES. I THEN WENT TO FIRESTONE AND SHOWED THEM, THEY TOLD ME IT WAS HEAT DAMAGE AND COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I THEN TOOK THEM TO WHERE I HAD PURCHASED THE TRUCK AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS TIRE DRESSING AND MOLD. SO I PRECEEDED TO GO TO THE CORPORATE STORE WHERE I WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS RUBBERIZED PAINT. MY TIRES WERE AND STILL ARE UNSAFE AND HAVE DEFAULTS. I BELIEVE THAT I AM ENTITLED TO REIMBURSEMENT FOR THE 5 TIRES. I WAS NOT ABOUT TO PUT FIRESTONE TIRES BACK ON MY TRUCK. WE LEASED A 2000 FORD EXPLORER ON 9-15-00 ON 9-16-00 IT SHUT OFF GOING DOWN A HILL NO POWER STEERING OR POWER BRAKES CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP THEY THOUGHT IT WAS A FLUKE AND WOULDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. IT HAS SINCE HAPPENED 4 MORE TIMES ALL GOING DOWN HILLS. IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 5 TIMES BUT ONLY WORKED ON 2 OF THE 5 TIMES BECAUSE FORD MOTOR CO. DOESN'T KNOW WHAT TO FIX. THEY ALSO SAID IT HAD TO SHUT OFF ON A MECHANIC TO DO ANYTHING . OVERALL THE HAD OUR VEHICLE 23 DAYS , IT DIDN'T SHUT OFF. THEY INSTALLED A FLIGHT INDICATOR ON OUR VEHICLE AND RETURNED IT TO US AND TOLD US TO PUSH THE BUTTON WITHIN 5 SECONDS WHEN IT SHUTS OFF. YOU CAN ONLY DO THIS WITH 2 PEOPLE IN THE CAR. IT SHUT OFF FEB.2,01 I PUSHED THE BUTTON BECAUSE MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, THEY PICKED UP THE VEHICLE AND RETURNED IT 3 HOURS LATER AND SAID WE GOT A GOOD READING THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. FORD MOTOR CO. ASKED FOR THE READING AND SAID IT WASN'T A GOOD READING DON'T DO ANYTHING . SO WE STILL HAVE A VEHICLE THAT EVERYONE KNOW SHUT OFF 5 TIMES, WE CAN NOT DO THE LEMON LAW BECAUSE IT HAS ONLY BEEN WORKED ON 2 OUT 5 TIMES ANDWE HAD A RENTAL 23 DAYS AND WE NEED 30 DAYS.WE HAVE A FAMILY THAT DRIVES IN THIS CAR, WE LIVE ON A HILL AND OUT BUSINESS IS ON ABIGGER HILL.I AM SCARED TO DEATH TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE.WE HAVE TALKED TO FORD HOTLINE AND GOT A RUN AROUND WITH THEM AND WE HAVE EMAIL FORD ANDGOT A RAN AROUND FROM THEM. THE DEALERSHIP WILL TAKE OUR VEHICLE BACK BUT WE NEED TO PUT THE DIFFERENCE IN OUR NEW PAYMENT OF WHAT IS OWED.ALL TOGETHER IT IS 8500.00 I DON'T FEEL THIS IS FAIR CONSIDERING THIS IS NOT MY PROBLEM IT IS FORDS.NO ONE WANTS TO HELP US AND THE DEALERSHIP TOLD US TO SAVE OUR MONEY FORD HAS WAY MORE ATTORNEYS THAN WE CAN AFFORD TO FIGHT THEM. CONSUMER REPLACED FIRESTONE AT (P235/75R15) TIRES WHICH WERE NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL 00T-005 DUE TO MANUFACTURING LOCATION AND REQUEST REIMBURSEMENT. NLM
I OWN A NEW FORD EXPLORER WITH THE "BRAND DESCRIPTION" OF THE CURRENTLY RECALLED FIRESTONE TIRE, ALTHOUGH IT DID NOT HAVE THE CODE ON THE INSIDE OF THE TIRE STATING THAT IT CAME SPECIFICALLY FROM THE DISTRIBUTION LOCATION CURRENTLY IN QUESTION. TWO WEEKS AGO MY RIGHT REAR TIRE CAME COMPLETELY APART. AFTER MUCH MISINFORMATION FROM FORD AND FIRESTONE, CHANNEL 4 NEWS TOOK THE STORY AND HELPED GET FORD TO PAY ATTENTION TO MY CASE. THEY AGREED TO PICK UP THE CAR AND REPLACE ALL FOUR TIRES FOR ME. THE DAY AFTER THE STORY AIRED ON TV FORD (DON MCLEAN SPECIFICALLY) CALLED AND SAID THAT THEY HAD CHANGED THEIR MINDS AND WERE NO LONGER GOING TO REPLACE MY TIRES BECAUSE THEY DID NOT COME FROM THAT SPECIFIC LOCATION. STILL THE TIRE SEPERATED FROM MY CAR AND ESSENTIALLY MAKING US AWARE THAT THE PROBLEM DOES NOT EXIST SOLELY WITH THE ILLINOIS PLANT. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER OF TWO LITTLE GIRLS AND FORD AND FIRESTONE HAVE GONE BACK ON THEIR WORD LEAVING ONCE AGAIN TO DRIVE A CAR WITH DEFECTIVE TIRES. WHILE TRAVELING AT 60 MPH ON A HIGHWAY I EXPERIENCED A SUDDEN TIRE FAILURE ON A FIRESTONE WILDERNESS AT TIRE (P25570R16). THERE WAS A LOUD HUMMING NOISE COMING FROM THE BACK OF MY TRUCK JUST PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. AFTER THE TIRE FAILED I IMMEDIATELY PULLED ONTO THE SHOULDER AND CALLED FORD'S ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE. I WAS TOLD THAT FORD WOULD SEND SOMEONE OUT TO FIX THE FLAT BUT THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING WITH REGARDS TO REPLACING THE TIRE. PICTURES ARE AVAILABLE. ALTHOUGH THERE ARE NO VISIBLE INDICATIONS THAT THE TIRE FAILED DUE TO ANYTHING OTHER THAN A MANUFACTURING DEFECT I AM TAKING THE TIRE TO A LOCAL FIRESTONE DEALER FOR OBSERVATION.( DOT NUMBER: VNCU1PX459 TIRE SIZE: P25570R16 )
INSURED WAS TRAVELING S ON HWY 9 AND SHE LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE. SOMEONE DRIVING BEHIND SAID THEY SAW THE RIGHT FRONT GO DOWN AND THEN DRIVER LOST CONTROL. INSURED STATED THAT IT COULD BE THE FIRESTONE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE POSSIBLE TIRE FAILURE-FIRESTONE WILDERNESS AT 235/75R15. (CLAIM# 11-3519-789) *MW
BRAKES FAILED ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. TOOK TO DEALER ON SEP.4 TOLD ON THE 5TH THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THEM. I BEG TO DIFFER BECAUSE I DIDN'T STOP WHEN I APPLIED MY BRAKES. REAR WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTER IS ALREADY OUT AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE FRONT SEAT TRACKS ALSO NEED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THEY DON'T STAY LATCHED OR THEY WILL NOT COME UP WHEN YOU TRY TO GET THEM TO. I WAS TOLD THE TIRES ON MY TRUCK WERE FINE, BUT I HAVE A PIECE OF THE TIRE MISSING. I WENT ON A TRIP TO TENN. AND IT WAS 100+ DEGREES. WE WERE STUCK IN TRAFFIC FOR OVER AN HOUR. WHEN WE STARTED TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE AGAIN I HAD A HORRIBLE VIBRATION IN MY TRUCK WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH.( DOT NUMBER: 8HXL TIRE SIZE: P235/75R15 )
