THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A FORD DEALER, AND TO STAY OUT OF THE VEHICLE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THE CONTACT CALLED FOOTHILLS AUTOMALL AT (509) 324-8200 (LOCATED AT 202 E NORTH FOOTHILLS DR, SPOKANE, WA 99207) WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT A RECALL WAS ASSOCIATED WITH THE YEAR, MAKE, MODEL VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO GUS JOHNSON FORD AT (509) 924-1000 (LOCATED AT 8300 E SPRAGUE AVE, SPOKANE VALLEY, WA 99212) WHERE AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
REAR VIEW CAMERA UPSIDE-DOWN / MIRRORED
MY CAR HAS ABOUT 95K MILES. CURRENTLY IT IS IN THE SHOP GETTING 2 THINGS DONE. A PART IS ORDERED FOR AIR BAG. I'VE HAD SEVERAL AIRBAG ISSUES NEEDED SERVICE. MY BIGGEST CONCERN IS THE POWER STEERING UNIT. I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW FROM DIBLASIO IN 2012 W/ ABOUT 7K MILES ON IT. I HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM FORD. SEPT 2016 THE ORIGINAL POWER STEERING UNIT FAILED AND WAS REPLACED. 14 MONTHS LATER THE REPLACEMENT HAS NOW FAILED AND IS BEING REPLACED! THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THANK GOD!!!!! THE POWER ASSIST DID NOT FAIL OR SHE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. WHEN I STARTED THE CAR THE NEXT TIME THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO DEALER. I NO LONGER TRUST THIS CAR. THE PS UNIT IS A CRITICAL PART OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE NEVER OWNED A CAR THAT HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM ONCE, YET TWICE. WITH THE SECOND TIME TAKING ONLY 14 MONTHS TO FAIL. I CALL FORD CORPORATE AND TOLD THEM ABOUT THE SITUATION AND THAT I NO LONGER TRUST THE CAR. LOOKING ONLINE, I SEE ARTICLES ABOUT A PS UNIT RECALL IN THE 2014S. I DON'T RECALL EVER RECEIVING A NOTICE ABOUT MY VEHICLE AND ONLY BROUGHT IT IN WHEN IT STARTED ACTING ODD IN 2016. FORD ASKED ME WHAT I WANTED THEM TO DO. AT THIS POINT I SAID I NO LONGER WANT THE CAR AND DO NOT WANT TO SELL IT TO SOMEONE WITH WHAT I KNOW AND FEAR. I THOUGHT FORD SHOULD BUY IT BACK FROM ME AT A REASONABLE PRICE AND I WILL GET A DIFFERENT VEHICLE. I WAS PUT ON HOLD FOR SHOW AND THE PERSON CAME BACK AND SAID THEY WERE SORRY THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO AND THAT ANY TIME THERE IS A PROBLEM I SHOULD BRING IT TO THE DEALER. I AM DISGUSTED WITH FORD AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT MY OPTIONS ARE. I NEED HELP PLEASE. I FEAR ANYONE DRIVING THIS CAR ONCE I GET IT BACK TOMORROW.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that while driving on several occasions at various speeds, the steering wheel became very firm. The power steering assist fault warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road where the doors were opened and then closed, and the vehicle restarted. On the last occasion, after restarting the vehicle, the steering wheel remained firm. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

WHILE DRIVING THE SUV, AN ORANGE WRENCH ERROR CAME ON THE DASH BOARD. THEN THE SUV HAD NO ACCELERATION. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURN OFF THE SUV AND TURN IT BACK ON. AFTER RESTARTING THE ENGINE, THE SUV HAD ACCELERATION, BUT THIS ERROR AND NO ACCELERATION KEEPS HAPPENING. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS AN ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY ISSUE THAT FORD IS AWARE OF, BUT DOESN'T HAVE A RECALL LISTED FOR THIS ISSUE FOR MY TRUCK.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (AUTONATION FORD NORTH CANTON, 5900 WHIPPLE AVE NW, NORTH CANTON, OH 44720, 1-877-346-8338) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT 1 OF THE 4 MOTOR BLENDERS FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AT A DISCOUNTED RATE BUT APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR LATER THE FAILURE REOCCURRED WHERE ANOTHER 1 OF THE 4 MOTOR BLENDERS FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER WHERE THE SECOND MOTOR BLENDER WAS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND COVERED UNDER AN EXTENDED WARRANTY PROGRAM PURCHASED BY THE CONTACT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE OTHER 2 MOTOR BLENDERS IN THE VEHICLE WOULD ALSO FAIL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,416. *TT *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. A FEW MINUTES LATER, THE LOW OIL PRESSURE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO PERRY FORD OF POWAY (12740 POWAY RD, POWAY, CA 92064) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND ALSO THE WATER PUMP FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING SOME EXPLORERS 2011-12 WERE RECALLED. MINE WAS NOT, HOWEVER IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED TO BE THE STEERING GEAR AND THE SAFETY ISSUE OF CONCERN. IN RETROSPECT WHY WAS MINE NOT RECALLED. THIS OCCURRED WHILE MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY. THE VEHICLE IS NOW AT THE DEALERSHIP WAITING FOR PARTS. REPAIR ESTIMATE IS $2000.
WARNING ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST CAME ON IN DASH AND WAS UNABLE TO STEER
APIM NOT WORKING IN TOO MANY CARS I SEEN INTERNET
WHEN I WAS DRIVING I CAME TO A STOP SIGN. I PROCEEDED TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN, THAT'S WHEN THE SUV SHUT OFF AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME HARD TO CONTROL SIMULTANEOUSLY. I STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, TURNED THE KEY TO THE OFF POSITION AND RE-STARTED THE SUV AGAIN. NONE OF MY WARNING LIGHTS IN THE DASHBOARD ARE DISPLAYED. THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED TO MY SPOUSE AND I ON AT LEAST 5 OTHER OCCASIONS. I AM VERY ALARMED THAT IF WE'RE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC AND THIS OCCURS AGAIN, WHICH IT WILL, IT MAY CAUSE A COLLISION INJURING DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS DILEMMA ON THE INTERNET AND IT APPEARS ALOT OF FORD EXPLORER OWNERS ARE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM. I ASK THAT YOU PUT PRESSURE ON FORD TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM. MANY FORD EXPLORER OWNERS ARE AT RISK OF SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH.
MY 2011 EXPLORER HAS EXPERIENCED THE STEERING PROBLEM IN SEVERAL OCCASIONS, MOST OF THE TIME WHEN I'M MAKING A TURN ON THE STREET OR TRYING TO PARK THE VEHICLE THE STEERING WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECOMES REALLY HARD TO MOVE AROUND. MOST OF THE TIME I'M DRIVING UNDER 30MPH BUT IT'S PRETTY DANGEROUS SPECIALLY WHEN THERE'S OTHER VEHICLES AROUND AND YOU CAN CONTROL YOUR OWN VEHICLE IT HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 7 TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR . I HAVE CHECKED FOR RECALLS ON THE STEERING SYSTEM , BUT THERE'S RECALL
AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON RANDOMLY AND WILL NOT SHUT OFF.
MY VEHICLE HAS STRONG EXHAUST FUMES COMING IN IT AS I DRIVE WHICH MAKES ME LET DOWN WINDOWS TO RECEIVE FRESH AIR.I TOOK IT TO THE FORD DEALER AND THEY WOULDN'T FIX IT BUT THEY HAD POLICE EXPLORERS THERE FIXING THE SAME PROBLEM.
DASHBOARD WARNING INDICATOR FOR AIRBAGS. I DON'T RECALL WHEN/CONDITIONS UNDER WHICH IT FIRST CAME ON.
I HAVE 2011 FORD EXPLORER, WHICH I TAKE INTO THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP FOR MAINTENANCE REGULARLY. I HAVE HAD ME EXPLORER A LITTLE OVER 2 YEARS. EVER SINCE I PURCHASED MY EXPLORER AND I WOULD TAKE IT IN FOR MAINTENANCE, I WOULD TELL THEM I SMELL EXHAUST FUMES ON THE INSIDE OF MY VEHICLE. ONLY ONCE DID THEY CHECK IT FOR ME. AT THAT TIME, THEY SAID THE GUY COULDN'T SMELL ANYTHING. WELL, TODAY 8-24-17, I HAD TO TAKE IT IN FOR ANOTHER ISSUE. MY EXPLORER ENGINE WOULD COMPLETELY SHUT OFF WHEN I WOULD DECELERATE. NEEDLESS TO SAY THAT WAS A SERIOUS ISSUE WHILE DRIVING...THEY ARE REPAIRING TODAY. BUT, I ALSO ASK THEM TO CHECK FOR EXHAUST SMELLS ONCE AGAIN. WELL TODAY, I GUESS SOMEONE SMELLED THE EXHAUST BECAUSE THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD FIX IT AT A COST OVER $200.00. SAID IT WAS AN UPDATE FOR THE EXHAUST MODULE OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. I HAVE AN ISSUE WITH PAYING THAT, SINCE I KNOW THAT THERE HAS BEEN SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS VERY ISSUE WITH MY MODEL OF FORD EXPLORER AND THAT THERE IS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST FORD TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. THE REASON I KNOW THIS IS BECAUSE WHEN THEY INITIALLY SAID THEY DIDN'T SMELL ANYTHING I GOOGLED TO SEE IF ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND THEY DID. WHEN I ASK THE DEALERSHIP TODAY WHY I WOULD HAVE TO PAY THAT, THEY SAID BECAUSE MY VEHICLE IS NOT A POLICE VEHICLE AND THERE IS NO RECALL ON MY VEHICLE FOR THE EXHAUST PROBLEM. SO, I GUESS IF MY VEHICLE WAS A POLICE VEHICLE, IT WOULD BE REPAIRED BY FORD FOR FREE. POINT BLANK, I WOULD LIKE MY 2011 FORD EXPLORER REPAIRED BY FORD AT NO COST TO ME FOR THE EXHAUST PROBLEM.
ON 8/24/2017, WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON GARDEN STATE PARKWAY, NJ, APPROACHING TOLL GATE NEAR EXIST 114, SUDDENLY THE INDICATOR LIGHTS SHOWED AWD OFF AND I LOST ALL POWER. I WAS ABLE TO COAST THROUGH THE TOLL GATE BUT COULD NOT ACCELERATE ANYMORE. I WAS ABLE TO PARK ON ROAD SHOULDER. I DISMISSED INDICATOR AWD OFF WARNING BY CLICK "OK" BUT IT KEPT COMING BACK AND I CANNOT DRIVE FORWARD ANYMORE. MEANWHILE, THE TERRAIN MANAGEMENT SYSTEM INDICATION LIGHT GOT OFF. I STOPPED ENGINE AND RESTARTED ENGINE, AND EVERYTHING WAS BACK TO NORMAL. THIS IS A SERIOUS LOSE POWER ISSUE THAT MANY OTHER FORD EXPLORER OWNERS REPORTED. THERE IS A PE13003 NHTSA RECALL BUT THIS DOESN'T COVER FORD EXPLORER, EVEN I BELIEVE MANY OTHER FORD CARS (LIKE FORD EDGE) SHARE SAME PARTS WITH EXPLORER. IF I LOST POWER WHEN I DRIVE IN HIGH SPEED, I MAY END UP WITH MAJOR CAR ACCIDENT!!!
ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY ISSUE - OVER THE LAST 30 DAYS, MY 2011 FORD EXPLORER HAS STALLED LEAVING ME WITH NO POWER TO CONTROL MY SPEED. LUCKILY THE TIMES THIS HAS HAPPENED, I HAVE BEEN ON CITY STREETS DRIVING 30-40 MPH. A WARNING GOES OFF STATING "AWD OFF" AND THEN A PICTURE OF A WRENCH APPEARS AND I LOSE ALL SPEED AND AM FORCED TO LIMP OFF THE ROAD. I AM ABLE TO SHIFT INTO PARK, TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN START BACK UP. AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT, I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETECT THE ERROR CODE AND SAID IT WAS LIKELY A FLUKE. SINCE THAT VISIT TO THE DEALERSHIP, MY VEHICLE HAS HAD THIS ISSUE ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. TODAY, IT HAPPENED 4 TIMES WHICH HAS LEFT ME TO FEAR DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY OR INTERSTATE FOR SAFETY REASONS. AFTER DOING ONLINE RESEARCH, IT APPEARS THAT THE ISSUE IS VERY SIMILAR TO THE ETB ISSUES THAT FORD OPENED UP "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 13N03" BUT UNFORTUNATELY IT DID NOT INCLUDE FORD EXPLORERS.
ALL OF THE WINDSHIELD TOP MOLDING AND HALF THE RIGHT SIDE HAS BLOWN OUT OVER LAST 2 HIGHWAY TRIPS. WINDSHIELD IS ORIGINAL AND HAS NEVER BEEN WORKED ON. USUALLY OCCURRS AT SPEEDS OF 60 MPH OR ABOVE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EXPLORER. WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO HIS RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,826.
EXHAUST FUMES ENTER CABIN DURING HARD ACCELERATION. CONDITION HAS EXISTED SINCE NEW IN MAY OF 2011. A/C ON OR OFF, RECIRCULATION ON OR OFF. REQUIRES ROLLING DOWN WINDOWS TO REMOVE FUMES. CONDITION CAN BE DUPLICATED AT ANY TIME.
STRONG FUME / EXHAUST SMELL IS PRESENT WHEN ACCELERATING ONTO THE HIGHWAY WITH THE A/C IN EITHER RECYCLE MODE OR NORMAL MODE. LIGHTHEADEDNESS CAN BE PRESENT AT TIMES ASSOCIATED WITH ACCELERATING THE VEHICLE. THIS EXHAUST SMELL HAS BEEN PRESENT FOR SEVERAL YEARS, AND DOESN'T SEEM TO GO AWAY OR CHANGE.
ONE WEEK AFTER PURCHASING A PRE-CERTIFIED VEHICLE, THE CAR DIDN'T WANT TO ACCELERATE & GO INTO GEAR. 4 MONTHS LATER HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES & FELT LIKE THE CAR GOT REAR ENDED WHILE DRIVING ON 2 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS ON THE HIGHWAY THAT SAME WEEK. I WAS DRAWN BING IN THE GARDEN STATE PARKWAY IN NJ AND HAD TO SLOW DOWN FOR TRAFFIC. ALSO AT THE END OF THE WEEK THE CAR DIDN'T WANT TO ACCELERATE & GO INTO GEAR WHILE DRIVING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY.
WHEN I DRIVE WITH THE WINDOWS CLOSED FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME I HAVE TO OPEN THE WINDOWS AND MANY TIMES I PULL OVER TO TAKE A BREATHER. I MENTIONED TO A FRIEND TODAY THIS PROBLEM AND HE TOLD ME HE HAD SEEN THE NIGHT BEFORE THAT THIS MODEL VEHICLE HAD MANY COMPLAINTS AS CARBON MONOXIDE MAY BE THE PROBLEM. I HAD THOUGHT ABOUT THAT BUT DISMISSED IT. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN WITH MY OTHER VEHICLES. I AM GOING TO BE VERY CAREFUL NOW BUT THIS IS RIDICULOUS. PLEASE MAKE FORD REPAIR THIS MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE STEERING LOST POWER AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED (TROPICAL FORD IN ORLANDO, FL) AND THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO TOW THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOP FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED EARLIER IN THE YEAR AND WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 157,000.
While traveling at freeway speeds a vibration sound could be heard around the front windshield area when a slight cross wind would occur, I was unable to locate the cause until after a couple months of this behavior the passenger side windshield trim piece suddenly departed the vehicle while traveling at 70 mph. The vehicle was serviced at Novus glass and the trim was then replaced. However, the new also began falling off after only a few days, and Novus Glass advised that they see this type of issue all the time, as the plastic tabs that are meant to secure the trim piece often get broken even when installing a new part.
RESTRAINTS INDICATOR LAMP WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND WON'T GO OFF. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT SETUP THIS FRIDAY WITH MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT, BUT WHEN I RESEARCHED THE ISSUE, I FOUND THAT A TON OF PEOPLE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. A MAJORITY WERE RESOLVED BY FIXING A CONNECTION UNDER THE DRIVER SEAT.
"POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" I WAS DRIVING AND ATTEMPTING TO TURN AND THE MESSAGE "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" CAME ON THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND WOULD NOT TURN AT ALL I WAS ABLE TO REVERSE BACK INTO A PARKING SPACE AVOIDING THE DANGER OF ALL THE PASSING CARS AND PEDESTRIANS AROUND
I HAVE, ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, HAVE GOTTEN VERY VERY TIRED WHILE DRIVEING MY 2011 FORD EXPLORER TO THE POINT WHERE I HAVE ALMOST FALLEN ASLEEP BEHIND THE WHEEL DRIVING AND HAVE FALLEN ASLEEP WHILE IDILING IN THE DRIVEWAY. NOT TO MENTION THE EXCRUCIATING HEADACHES IVE SUFFERED FROM RECENTLY ALONG WITH NAUSEA, NOT TO MENTION THE SMELL OF EXHAUST IN THE CABIN.
MY STEERING WENT OUT ON MY VEHICLE WHILE I WAS DRIVING. MY RADIO AND SCREEN GOES OUT SEVERAL TIMES A MONTH.
I'VE REPORTED TO A LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP THAT WHEN I TURN MY CAR ON, AN ALARM ALERT SOUNDS AND I GET A WARNING LIGHT THAT SAYS, POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT AND I CAN'T MOVE MY STEERING WHEEL. I HAVE TO RE-START MY CAR 1-5 TIMES FOR IT TO START WORKING. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND A LIABILITY. I TOOK IT TO FORD AND THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T PULL A CODE. HOWEVER LITERALLY AN HOUR AFTER PICKING UP MY CAR, I GOT THE WARNING AGAIN AND I TOOK A PICTURE OF IT WITH MILEAGE SHOWING TO SHOW IT HAPPENED AFTER. THEY CHARGED ME $100 TO BE TOLD MY CAR IS FINE. IT IS NOT. SINCE TAKING IT IN, MY REAR VIEW CAMERA WILL NOW NOT WORK. I HAVE MADE FORD AWARE OF THIS STEERING ISSUE AND WANT IT FIXED IMMEDIATELY. CLEARLY THE RECALL DID NOT ACCURATELY HIT ALL VIN NUMBERS. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 10 TIMES IN PAST 6-8 MONTHS.
GOT INTO MY CAR AFTER BEING PARKED FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND CONSOLE SCREEN NEVER TURNED ON. NO HANDSFREE PHONE CONNECTION, NO RADIO, NO NAVIGATION, NO BACK UP CAMERA. DID NOT COME BACK AFTER MORE THAN 2 WEEKS OF DRIVING. APIM FAILURE AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. FORD KNEW THIS PART WAS POOR BECAUSE THEY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON IT UP TO FIVE YEARS BUT WOULD NOW ALLOW REPLACEMENT UNDER THE WARRANTY UNLESS THE APIM FAILED. $1300 REPAIR. APPLIES TO FORD CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 12M01 AND NHTSA ID NUMBER 10044905.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE CONTACT SAW A PIECE FLY OFF OF THE WINDSHIELD AND INTO TRAFFIC. THE CONTACT STOPPED TO INSPECT THE WINDSHIELD AND NOTICED THAT THE PLASTIC PIECE WAS CONNECTED TO THE PANEL OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT CALLED ALL STAR LINCOLN FORD (17742 AIRLINE HWY, PRAIRIEVILLE, LA 70769, (225) 490-7645) WHERE THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE A PHOTO OF THE WINDSHIELD AND TO SEND IT TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
CAR LOSSES POWER WHILE IN MOTION. FRIST TIME NEAR MY HOME. SECOND TIME WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN. STOP, TURN OFF MOTOR THEN BACK ON AND MESSAGE IS GONE. MY CAR HAS DONE THIS TWICE NOW. DO NOT TRUST MY CAR TO DRIVE FAR FROM HOME. THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY IS HAVING ISSUES AND UNDERSTAND IT'S BEEN RECALLED ON A DIFFERENT FORD CAR BUT NOT EXPLORER. MOST LIKELY SAME THROTTLE ASSEMBLY!
MY VEHICLE WAS ON THE ROAD IN MOTION WHEN I HEARD A CREAKING/CLANKING NOISE ON THE FRONT RIGHT SIDE NEAR THE TIRE. AFTER TAKING MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP TO DETERMINE WHAT THE CAUSE OF THE NOISE WAS, I WAS ADVISED THAT IT WAS A FAULTY FRONT RIGHT STRUT AND SPRING ASSEMBLY. I HAD MY MECHANIC REPLACE BOTH THE FRONT AND LEFT STRUTS. AFTER DOING A LOT OF RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET FROM OTHER FORD EXPLORER OWNERS , I BELIEVE THAT STRUT AND SPRING ASSEMBLY ARE MANUFACTURE DEFECTS. WHILE BACKING UP MY VEHICLE, I NOTICED THAT THE BACK UP CAMERA WAS BLANK AND NOT WORKING. AFTER MONITORING THE OPERATION OF THE BACK UP CAMERA, IT HAS BECOME AND INTERMITTENT ISSUE, IT COMES AND GOES. NOW, MY BACK UP CAMERA IS WORKING BUT THE BACK UP CAMERA GUIDELINES ARE NOT THERE. AFTER READING MANY BLOGS, THERE' S ALOT OF FORD EXPLORER OWNERS WHO ARE HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THE BACK UP CAMERA. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND I BELIEVE IT IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT.
I WAA DRIVING TO WORK AND ALL OF A SUDDEN WARNING MESSAGES APPEARED TO SERVICE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT, SERVICE TERRAIN MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FAULT, SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC. I COMPLETELY LOST CONTROL OF TURNING THE WHEEL AND MY TURNING SIGNALS COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. I WAS BARELY ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS. CAR HAD TO BE TOWED TO SHOP AND NOW I'M OUT OF A CAR. VERY STRESSFUL AS I NEED A CAR TO MOVE AROUND.
HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE EPAS STEERING . WILL GET A WARNING THAT THAT SAYS "ELECTRONIC POWER ASSIST FAILURE". THIS HAS HAPPENED BEFORE AND THE DEALER DI A SOFTWARE UPDATE. THOUGHT IT WAS REPAIRED, BUT IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN IT HAPPENS BECAUSE YOU HAVE NO NOTICE. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE POWER STEERING GOES IN MANUAL MODE AND IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. ESPECIALLY WHEN ITS MY WIFE'S VEHICLE. IT ALMOST CAUSED HER TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT WHILE TRYING TO TURN ON TO ANOTHER ROAD, ALMOST HITTING OTHER VEHICLES. I HAVE SINCE FOUND THAT FORD IS HAVING A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS ON OTHER VEHICLES. MY VEHICLE SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.

CAR WAS FINE THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN OVER HEATING SIGN WENT ON IN THE CAR . I PULLED OVER ON THE FREEWAY CALLED A TOW TRUCK BECAUSE I WAS TOLD NOT TO DRIVE THE CAR. I HAD IT TOWED TO MY HOUSE HAD A PROFESSIONAL MECHANIC LOOK AT IT AT MY HOUSE I WAS THEN TOLD THAT THERE WAS A LEAK AND THE WATER TANK WAS NOT HOLDING WATER BECAUSE OF IT. THE NEXT DAY I WENT TO MY CAR I TURNED IT ON AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. I THEN TURNED OFF THE CAR CAUSE I DID NOT WANT TO CAUSE ANYMORE DAMAGE. THE MECHANIC CAME BACK TO MY HOUSE AND TOLD ME IT WAS NOW LEAKING WATER AND OIL TO TAKE IT IN RIGHT AWAY. I HAD NO PREVIOUS PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR UNTIL THAT POINT. I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER THEY TELL ME THAT IT WAS AN INTERNAL PROBLEM WITHIN THE ENGINE THAT I, THE DRIVER, COULD NOT HAVE KNOWN ABOUT UNLESS I WAS HAVING PREVIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR WHICH I WAS NOT. 230 DOLLARS LATER JUST TO TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE CAR FORD IS TELLING ME THAT WATER GOT INTO THE ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, ALL OF THE FLUIDS AND PIPES. HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN WITH NO PREVIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR? I BELIEVE THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED I HAVE READ MANY REVIEWS ON THIS MODEL AND THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED

THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, BUT THE SEAT BELT PRETENSIONER FAILED TO LOCK. THE CONTACT'S HEAD STRUCK THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONTACT RECEIVED HEAD, BACK, NECK, AND KNEE INJURIES, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DEEMED DESTROYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
TURNING FROM HIGHWAY TO SUBDIVISION, POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHICH CAUSED ME TO ALMOST RUN INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE WHO WAS TURNING ONTO THE HIGHWAY. THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE WITH MY TRUCK'S MAKE AND MODEL AND PERHAPS THE ISSUE WAS LARGER THAN ORIGINALLY THOUGHT SINCE CLEARLY THIS ISSUE EFFECTS ME AND IT NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT.

APRIL 30, 2017, WHEN STARTING MY EXPLORER I WAS NOTIFIED BY THE ONBOARD NOTIFICATION SYSTEM THAT THE STEERING POWER ASSIST HAD FAILED. NEXT MESSAGE STATED THE ADVANCE TRACK SYSTEM HAD ALSO FAILED. SURE ENOUGH THE POWER STEERING WAS NONEXISTENT. DROVE IT HOME AND FOUND THE CARE UNDRIVEABLE FOR MOST PEOPLE DUE TO THE FORCE REQUIRED AT THE WHEEL TO NEGOTIATE A TYPICAL RIGHT OR LEFT TURN AT 20 MPH.....!!!!! THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED ACCORDING TO THE FORD HOUSE IN 2014 SO THEY ARE UNWILLING TO ASSUME ANYMORE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FIX. THIS IS PROBLEMATIC DUE TO THE WIDESPREAD EXPERIENCE OF FORD OWNERS ACROSS AMERICA WHO NOW FACE RIDICULOUS COSTS ALL FOR THE SAME PROBLEM THAT WILL COME AGAIN IN 3-4 YEARS ($1700+). THE REAL PROBLEM HERE IS THE SYSTEM MIGHT JUST FAIL AT JUST THE WRONG TIME AND SEND YOU AND YOUR FAMILY OVER THE SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN ROAD OR ACROSS THE LANE INTO THAT EMBANKMENT! SUPER. TIME FOR FORD TO STEP UP!
RANDOMLY, THE AIRBAG LIGHT WILL COME ON AND REMAIN ON UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS RESET, INDICATING THERE IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH THE SRS SYSTEM. HAPPENS AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, DURING THE INITIAL TESTING OF COMPONENTS. UPON SEARCHING ONLINE, THERE SEEMS TO BE QUITE A BIT OF PEOPLE WITH EXPLORERS BETWEEN 2011-2015 WITH THIS PROBLEM.
THE REAR VIEW CAMERA SYSTEM STARTED SHOWING A REVERSE IMAGE TO WHAT IS ACTUALLY BEHIND US WITHOUT WARNING (THE VIDEO WAS SHOWING MIRRORED/BACKWARDS VIEW). THIS CAUSED US TO THINK SOMEONE WHO WAS ACTUALLY ON ONE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WAS IN A SAFE PLACE, WHILE IN REALITY THEY WERE IN THE PATH OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS LARGE BLIND SPOTS IN THE BACK SIDES MAKING AN ACCURATE PICTURE A MUST-HAVE
FOUL SMELL WHEN DRIVING AND AIR CONDITIONER ON AT TIMES. HAPPENED MANY TIMES OVER THE LAST YEAR. EXCESSIVE SLEEPINESS WHEN DRIVING AND HAVE TO PULL OVER.
