THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CORWIN FORD TRI CITIES (1225 N AUTOPLEX WAY, PASCO, WA 99301, (509)544-8000) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING GEAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO TEN YEARS/150,000 MILES FOR THE STEERING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 210,800.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ANDERSON FORD OF GRAND ISLAND (120 DIERS AVE, GRAND ISLAND, NE 68803, (308) 384-1700) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER AN UNKNOWN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER AND THAT THE POWER STEERING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. A REPAIR APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED FOR OCTOBER 24, 2019. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE DUE TO THE VEHICLE'S MILEAGE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 159,111.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE STEERING SEIZED AND THE POWER ASSIST WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JIM BURKE FORD (2001 OAK ST, BAKERSFIELD, CA 93301, (661) 328-3600) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE STEERING MODULE WAS UPDATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 132,000.
CAME OUT TO START UP MY VEHICLE WHEN IMMEDIATELY MY POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT CAME ON. IT WOULDNT ALLOW ME TO BACK MY CAR BACK NOR TURN MY STEERING WHEEL AS IF IT WAS LOCKED. SO I TURNED THE CAR OFF FEELING DISCOURAGED I MAY HAVE WAITED 20 MINUTES AND STARTED THE VEHICLE UP TO NOW THERE IS NO MESSAGE. I PROCEEDED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE ONCE I MADE IT BACK HOME THE MESSAGE CAME ON ONCE AGAIN AT THIS TIME I TOOK OUT MY CAR BOOK AND IT GAVE INFORMATION ON WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND TO SEEK SERVICE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
POWER STEERING DEFAULT ACTIVATES WHICH CAUSE YOU TO USE EXTREME FORCE TO NAVIGATE THE WHEEL AND THERE IS A POPPING NOISE IN FRONT OF VEHICLE. ALL WHILE DRIVING AND SITTING STILL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT NOTICED AN ABNORMAL EXHAUST ODOR COMING FROM THE VENTILATION SYSTEM WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE ODOR WAS ONLY PRESENT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HASTINGS FORD INC (3013 E 10TH ST, GREENVILLE, NC 27858, (252) 758-0114) WHERE IT WAS TEST DRIVEN AND DETERMINED THAT THE EXHAUST WAS LEAKING AT THE MANIFOLD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 25071531. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 111,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A LEAK AND FOUR INCHES OF RAIN WATER ENTERED THE REAR WHEEL WELL OF THE SPARE TIRE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT MOLD WOULD GROW UNDER THE CARPET OF THE REAR WELL. THE CONTACT CALLED MOORESVILLE FORD DEALER, (151 E PLAZA DR, MOORESVILLE, NC 28115, (704) 664-1300) AND WAS INFORMED ABOUT THE FEE OF THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER DUE TO THE REPAIR FEES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 62,000.
FOR THE PAST YEAR WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE STEERING WHEEL GETS "STUCK" IN POSITION AND WILL NOT TURN LEFT OR RIGHT TO STAY IN YOUR LANE. I HAVE TO APPLY HEAVY PRESSURE ON THE STEERING WHEEL TO MAKE IT MOVE AGAIN BUT AFTERWARDS IT APPEARS TO DRIVE NORMALLY EXCEPT ON THE OCCASION WHEN IT DOES IT MULTIPLE TIMES IN A 3-4 HOUR TRIP. I MENTIONED IT TO MY FORD DEALERSHIP WHEN IN FOR OTHER SERVICE BUT NOTHING WAS EVER DONE ABOUT IT AND THEY DENIED A RECALL WAS OPEN FOR THE STEERING. FAST FORWARD TO MAY, JUNE, JULY AND AUGUST 2019. ON OCCASION WHEN BACKING OUT OF MY GARAGE, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD LOCK UP AND I COULD NOT STEER THE VEHICLE WITHOUT USING EXCESSIVE FORCE. THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD THEN RELEASE AND STEER AS NORMAL. THIS HAPPENED MORE TIMES THAN NOT SO I STARTED TO WONDER IF IT WAS THE THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS STICKING TOGETHER BECAUSE THEY WERE WET WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED BUT THAT THEORY QUICKLY GOT SHOT DOWN AS IT HAPPENED EVEN IN A LONG DRY SPELL. TODAY, SEPT 05, 2019 AS MY WIFE WENT TO BACK OUT OF THE GARAGE, THE STEERING WHEEL WAS COMPLETELY LOCKED UP AND WOULD NOT BUDGE. NORMALLY I WOULD ROCK THE STEERING WHEEL LEFT TO RIGHT, BACK AND FORTH AND IT WOULD FREE UP BUT NOT THIS TIME. AFTER SEARCHING FOR REMEDIES ON THE INTERNET ONE PERSON RECOMMENDED TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND WAIT A FEW MINUTES AND THEN TO START IT UP AGAIN. I DID THIS AND IT WORKED! I ALSO WANT TO RELAY THAT AT NO TIME DID I EVER SEE A WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OR WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE AFTER BEING PARKED IN THE GARAGE. ITS POSSIBLE THAT THE STEERING MAY HAVE BEEN REPAIRED IN THE PAST BEFORE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE (USED) AS IT DOES NOT SHOW UP IN A RECALL BY VIN SEARCH. NOTE: JUST STARTED CAR AGAIN AND THE STEERING IS LOCKED AGAIN. TOOK SEVERAL RESTARTS TO FREE IT UP!
FORD SPAIN UNABLE TO CONDUCT RECALLS DUE TO NO PARTS AVAILABLE FOR EXPLORER 2012. DISCUSSED WITH. *TR
POWER STEERING RECALL OF 2014- MY VEHICLE WAS RECALLED FOR STEERING WAS FIXED UNDER A RECALL IN 2014 THE EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 10 YEARS OF 150,000 MILES. MY VEHICLE KEEPS SHOWING A POWER STEERING ASSIST DEFAULT. IT HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY CLAIM IT IS NOT SAVING A CODE SO THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING. WHAT IS GONNA HAPPEN WHEN IT HAPPENS AT 70 MPH AND ME OR ONE OF MY FAMILY MEMBERS IS KILLED. THEY NEED TO HONOR THEIR WARRANTY AND FIX IT. I CAN NOT DRIVE IT TO DEALER ONCE THER STEERING FAILS AND THEY TELL ME THIS IS THE ONLY WAY THEY CAN FIX IT.
THE STEERING LOCKED ON MY 2012 FORD EXPLORER LTD. WHILE DRIVING DOWN A CITY STREET. I COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING AND HAD TO COAST OFF THE ROAD. HAD TO CALL TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED. A NOTICE ON THE CAR SAID CHECK POWER STEERING. I SEEN WHERE OTHERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE, BUT I DIDN'T SEE IT AS A RECALL ITEM ON YOUR SITE.
THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED UP AND WENT TO BACK OUT OF A PARKING SPOT. THE VEHICLE WAS PRACTICALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. THE STEERING WAS THE WORSE EVER TO TRY TO TURN THE WHEEL. HAD TO PULL INTO ANOTHER PARKING SPOT AND PARK IT THERE. TURN THE CAR OFF. THEN CAME BACK A FEW HOURS LATER AND STARTED THE CAR AND THE STEERING WORKED FINE. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON PREVIOUS OCCASIONS WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE. THE STEERING IS IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN THE WHEEL. AGAIN, THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE, BUT LUCKILY ONLY WHEN STARTING UP AND INITIAL DRIVING. IT HAS PROBABLY HAPPENED AT LEAST 4 TIMES TO ME AND AT LEAST 2 TIMES FOR MY WIFE. I HAVE HEARD OF OTHER PEOPLE'S STEERING STOP WHEN DRIVING!
WATER IS LEAKING FROM THE ROOF THAT CAUSES ELECTRICAL ISSUES. BAD DESIGN BY FORD IN WHICH SEAL SEAMS NOT PROPERLY INSTALLED, WHICH CAUSE LEAKS INSIDE VEHICLE.
SINCE MARCH 2019, I HAD BEEN EXPERIENCING A SLIGHT STIFFNESS IN THE POWER STEERING. BY MAY, THE TRACTION SIGN CAME ON THEN WENT OFF. WHEN I ASKED THE DEALER ABOUT THIS, THEY SAID THERE WAS A 2-3 WEEK WAIT TO HAVE THE CAR LOOKED AT. IT DIDN'T HAPPEN OFTEN, BUT INFREQUENTLY. THEN ONE DAY IN LATE JUNE, WHEN I TURNED ON THE CAR AND BACKED DOWN THE DRIVEWAY, THERE WAS NO POWER IN THE STEERING. I DROVE BACK UP THE DRIVEWAY AND TURNED OFF THE CAR. THEN TURNED IT BACK ON AND ALL WAS FINE. IN LATE JULY IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND EARLY AUGUST IT COMPLETELY WENT OUT. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR IN AT THE DEALERSHIP ON A FRIDAY AND THEY FOUND IT WAS THE STEERING GEAR FAILED INTERNALLY. THEY FINISHED REPAIRING THE CAR BY THE FOLLOWING TUESDAY. WHEN THE CAR WAS AT 141,000 MILES I HAD ASKED IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS THAT HAVEN'T BEEN DONE ON THIS CAR. THEY SAID NO. MY QUESTIONS IS: DOES A SAFETY RECALL EXPIRE?
I HAVE A 2012 FORD EXPLORER THAT WAS INCLUDED IN THE SAFETY RECALL 14S06. THE PSCM WAS REPROGRAMMED PRIOR TO ME PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. ASSOCIATED TO RECALL 14S06 IS THE EXTENDED COVERAGE PROGRAM 15N01, WHICH IS TO REMAIN OPEN ON THE VEHICLES THAT WERE RECALLED IN THE EVENT THAT ANY LOSS OF STEERING ASSIST DTCS ARE PRESENT. MY EXPLORER HAS A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING AND THE DEALER HAS NOTED THAT MY ENTIRE STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY MUST BE REPLACED. FORD REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE EXTENDED COVERAGE 15N01. THIS COVERAGE IS SUPPOSED TO LAST FOR 10 YEARS AND 150,000 MILES. I AM AT 144,000 MILES. FORD CONTINUES TO REPEAT THAT MY CAR IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE SPECIAL COVERAGE. HOWEVER, PUBLICATIONS FROM FORD INDICATE OTHERWISE. REPLACEMENT OF MY STEERING GEAR IS $2,200. ALL OF WHICH SHOULD BE COVERED BY FORD. MY POWER STEERING AND STABILITRAK WARNINGS GO OFF AND I LOSE POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED CORRECTLY BY FORD. FORD'S CUSTOMER CARE DEPARTMENT IS SEVERELY INCAPABLE OF ANSWERING THE MOST BASIC QUESTIONS. THEY ARE ALSO INCAPABLE OF ACCURATELY DOCUMENTING WHAT YOU HAVE CALLED ABOUT MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO REACH ANY RESOLUTION OR PROVIDE INFORMATION BEYOND WHAT YOU RESEARCH ON YOUR OWN. I REQUESTED ESCALATION AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY DON'T HAVE BOSSES, WON'T ESCALATE MY REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION OR PROVIDE ORIGINAL RECALL NOTIFICATIONS FOR MY VIN. I WAS TOLD THE ONLY WAY TO PURSUE THE ISSUE FURTHER WAS TO WRITE A LETTER.
CAR WON'T GO INTO PARK
07/25- HAD RECALL ORDERED- TOE LINK ON BOTH SIDES, REAR. PERFORMED AT HARRISONBURG FORD, VA. ; 09/04 DRIVING ON ROUTE 33 IN VA, MOUNTAIN ROAD. HEARD GRINDING NOISE COMING DOWN MOUNTAIN, NOISE STEADILY INCREASED AND BEGAN TO FEEL LIKE A LOSS OF CONTROL. SLOWED DOWN AND A MILE FROM SHOP THE NOISE STOPPED. WENT TO RICE TIRE IN VA AND HAD IT CHECKED. THE BOLT HOLDING TOE LINK ON RIGHT SIDE HAD DISLODGED NEARLY COMPLETELY. HAD IT REPLACED AND TOLD TO GO TO FORD TO RE TORQUE BOTH SIDES.; 09/05 WENT TO FORD. WAS INFORMED THAT MECHANIC HAD HAND TORQUED THE BOLTS, ESSENTIALLY MISREAD INSTRUCTIONS. MANAGER ACTUALLY STATED THAT THEY WERE GOING TO HAVE TO CALL MANY OTHER CUSTOMERS TO RE TORQUE THEIR TOE LINKS CORRECTLY AS WELL. I ASKED FOR ALIGNMENT AS WELL, BECAUSE THIS PROBLEM WOULD SURELY AFFECT BALANCE AND ALIGNMENT, THIS WAS PERFORMED AS WELL. THEY BILLED IT TO RECALL WARRANTY DEPT.; 11/6 DRIVING ON 25 IN COLORADO SPRINGS 65 MPH, TRAFFIC STOPS AND AS I BREAK HEAVILY I LOSE CONTROL AND VEHICLE HOPS A LANE. NO ACCIDENT.; 11/07 TAKE VEHICLE TO FORD TO CHECK TOE LINKS, WAS TOLD BOTH NUTS WERE LOOSE, LEFT AND RIGHT, THE KNUCKLE ON ONE SIDE HAS SNAPPED THE BRAKES ARE BAD, ROTORS AND BACK 2 TIRES ARE BAD..I SPECIFICALLY ASKED , SAYS THAT THIS IS ALL RELATED. THE FRONT BRAKES ARE WORN AS WELL, CLEARLY FROM COMPENSATION OF DRIVING WITH BAD TOE LINKS. I WAS TOLD SPECIFICALLY YES THIS IS ALL RELATED. FORD RECALL MANUFACTURER REFUSING TO COVER TOE LINKS AS WELL AS ALL ASSOCIATED DAMAGE, TOTALING OVER $3K. I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES WITH VEHICLE AND PERFORM REGULAR MAINT ON TIRES BRAKES AND ROTARS, ETC. AND WITHIN 3 MONTHS OF RECALL I HAVE HAD 2 LIFE THREATENING INCIDENTS AND COMPLETE RUINATION OF MY VEHICLE SAFETY, AND ALOT OF DAMAGE INCURRED. RECEIPT OF RECALL ON 11/25 STATING EVERYTHING RELATED IS GREEN. NO WAY THIS DAMAGE IS NOT ASSOCIATED TO "NEW, SAFER" TOE LINKS.
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AND I TURN ON THE VEHICLE IT DISPLAYS THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS AND I AM UNABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL I TURN IT OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON AT LEAST 2 TIMES. I AM AFRAID IF THIS FAILS WHILE I AM DRIVING I COULD KILL MYSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE.

SHORTLY AFTER RECEIVING THE RECALL LETTER, THE CONTACT'S WIFE WAS DRIVING AT 20 MPH AND EXPERIENCED COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING. THE CONTACT ALSO EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MCCOMBS FORD WEST LOCATED AT 7111 NORTHWEST LOOP 410, SAN ANTONIO, TX 78238, WHERE A SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS PERFORMED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT ALSO EXPERIENCED THE LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REVERSED OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 165,000.
WHEN TURNING LEFT STEERING WOULD NOT RETURN WITHOUT EXTREME FORCE ON MY PART. VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT KEPT ME GOING LEFT AND WOULD CAUSE A WRECK. DEALER DUPLICATED THE STEERING PROBLEM. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. DEALER STATED THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE STEERING GEAR: REFER TO RECALL 19V-435
LOST COMMUNICATION WITH THE CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM. THE WINDOWS LOCK UP, AND THE CAR BLOWS CONSTANT HEAT THROUGH DEFROST. NO HAZARDS CAN BE USED AS THE ENTIRE CONTROL PANEL IS OUT. VERY UNSAFE WITHOUT HAZARDS, LET ALONE FULL BLOWN HEAT WHEN ITS ALREADY . 105 OUTSIDE WITH THE HEAT INDEX.
WHEN IT RAINS I HAVE WATER COMING INTO MY VEHICHLE AND IT EVEN COMES THROUGH THE SEATBELTS. I HAVE WATER IN MY FLOOR NOW.
POWER STEERING WENT OUT. MY VEHICLE IS PART OF THE RECALL. TOOK IT TO MCMULLEN FORD IN COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA. THEY TOLD ME I'M 300 MILES OVER THE RECALL AND IT WAS GOING TO COST $1,900 TO FIX. VEHICLE HAS 108,954 MILES ON IT.

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND POWERED OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE NORMALLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14E001000 (STEERING) AT VISALIA FORD (1300 E MINERAL KING AVE, VISALIA, CA 93292, (559) 625-1000). HOWEVER, THE REPAIR DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. IN ADDITION, WHILE MAKING TURNS, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD ONLY MOVE FORWARD AND BACKWARDS. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE DRIVEN AND WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
THERE IS A STRONG SMELL OF CARBON MONOXIDE WHEN THE ENGINE IS REVED OVER 3000 -3500 RPM THIS HAPPENS EVERY SINGLE TIME. IT SEEMS TO BE ON PAR WITH THE OTHER COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE WITH THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. I NOTICED THIS ISSUE SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM THE USED CAR LOT.

I BOUGHT MY EXPLORER IN JUNE 2019. AFTER PURCHASING I NOTICED THE SMELL OF THE EXHAUST INSIDE THE VEHICLE .THROUGHOUT THE SUMMER MONTHS I DROVE WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN DUE TO THE A.C. NOT WORKING PROPERLY . I CONTINUED SMELLING THE EXHAUST BUT FINANCIALLY UNABLE TO SEEK REPAIRS. WITH COOLER TEMPERATURES THE WINDOWS NOW CLOSED THE SMELL OF THE EXHAUST WAS MORE APPARENT AND I BEGIN TO EXPERIENCE SEVERE HEADACHES, FREQUENT NAUSEA, FATIGUE AND SOME DIZZINESS AND CONFUSION. I WAS TOLD OF REPORTS OF CARBON MONOXIDE ISSUES WITH THIS MAKE OF VEHICLE AND SPOKE TO FORD ABOUT REPAIRS AS WELL AS OTHER RECALLS NEEDED FOR MY EXPLORER. I TOOK MY CAR FOR THE REPAIRS TODAY AND AM STILL EXPERIENCING THE CARBON MONOXIDE ISSUE STILL. I WILL BE CONTACTING THE FORD DEALERSHIP TOMORROW AS THIS WASN'T REPAIRED. I'M CONCERNED FOR MY HEALTH AND HAVING THIS ISSUE NOT FIXED .

THE SAME COMMON PROBLEM WITH EVERY SINGLE 2012 FORD EXPLORER. THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND POSSIBLY DISABLED THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. ACCORDING TO HUNDREDS OF EXPLORER OWNERS THIS ISSUE IS AN ENDLESS MONEY PIT BECAUSE THERE IS NO PERMANENT FIX AND FORD REFUSES TO RECALL THE VEHICLE FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE COST FOR TURNING OFF THE LIGHT AT A FORD DEALERSHIP WILL BE UPWARDS OF $400 AND WILL ONLY TURN THE AIRBAG LIGHT OFF FOR A SHORT WHILE. I WAS PROMISED BY LOCAL FORD DEALER "THERE'S A HIGH PROBABILITY I'LL HAVE TO BRING THE CAR BACK IN FOR THIS ISSUES DOWN THE ROAD AND THEIR APOLOGIES BUT THERE'S NOTHING FROM FORD TO HELP ME COVER THE COST OF THIS REPAIR". TWICE IN 5 DAYS THE VEHICLE HAS 'AWD OFF' ERROR MESSAGE POP UP WHEN DRIVING AT 25MPH, AND HAS FORCED THE VEHICLE INTO IDLE WHILE IN TRAFFIC. ALL OF THE MECHANICS WE TALKED TO WON'T TOUCH THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THIS A KNOWN ISSUE, AND DIRECT US TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT SERVICED. THERE IS ZERO SENSE OF SAFETY WHEN DRIVING IT.
WATER LEAKS IN THROUGH THE THIRD ROW SEAT BELT TENSIONER. WATER RUNS DOWN THE SEAT BELT AND POOLS ON THE FLOOR. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY OR MOVING. WATER IN THE SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY IS A SAFETY RISK. I REPORTED IT TO FORD, THEY DECLINED TO FIX IT.

WHILE MY WAS DRIVING SHE WENT TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP AND HEARD A NOISE. SHE THOUGHT MAYBE SHE RAN OVER GLASS OR SOMETHING. WHEN SHE WENT TO TURN THE CORNER THE VEHICLE KEPT GOING STRAIGHT. SHE ENDED UP HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE DUE TO THE REAR SUSPENSION BREAKING. MY VEHICLE IS PART OF THE REAR SUSPENSION RECALL.
I HAD A SYNC BLACK SCREEN THE CENTRAL PROCESSING UNIT AND APIM WAS NO GOOD SO I HAD NO CONTROL OF ANYTHING LIKE THE HEAT DEFROST OR ANYTHING THAT CONTROLLED WITH THE TOUCH SCREEN INCLUDING THE REAR CAMERA AND SENSORS TO THE CAR AND FROM WHAT I READ THAT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THAT CAR OF THAT YEAR.
ON 4/17/2019 MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON ITS NOT BLINKING JUST SOLID ITS BEEN ALMOST A WEEK AND LIGHT IS STILL ON. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND IT APPEARS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH MY FORD YEAR AND MODEL. FROM WHAT I RESEARCHED NONE OF THE FORD REPAIRS HAVE PERMANENTLY REPAIRED THIS ISSUE. FROM I HAVE READ IN THESE COMPLAINTS IS THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY WHEN THIS LIGHT IS ON WONDERING WHY THERE IS NOT A RECALL FOR THIS VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION. I AM NOT TAKEN MY CAR TO A FORD DEALER TO PAY HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS FOR A TEMPORARY FIX THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ASAP.

FAULTY WIRE CONNECTION IS WHAT I WAS TOLD AND EVERYTHING ELSE WAS FINE, ACCORDING TO FORD DEALERSHIP. MY AIRBAG LIGHTS ARE ON ONCE AGAIN AND IT APPEARS THIS IS A BIG PROBLEM WITH THE FORD EXPLORERS. IT SEEMS THAT 2011-2018 ARE AFFECTED BY SOME SORT OF AIRBAG MALFUNCTION. FORD IS NOT HELPING ANYONE AND PEOPLE ARE PAYING FORD HUNDREDS, IF NOT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO FIX THE PROBLEM ONLY FOR THE PROBLEM TO STILL EXIST. IT IS WIDE SPREAD AND NOT JUST AN ISSUE IN CERTAIN CLIMATES. AT WHAT POINT DOES THE MANUFACTURER BECOME LIABLE FOR FAULTY SAFETY EQUIPMENT? WE ARE ALL BEING TOLD THAT OUR AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY IF IN ANY ACCIDENT, LARGE OR SMALL, AND TO ME THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM. HOW MANY LIVES NEED BE LOST OR IN JEOPARDY BEFORE SOMEONE CAN HOLD FORD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR OBVIOUS DEFECT? THIS IS MY ONLY VEHICLE AND I SIMPLY CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE IT IN AND OUT OF THE SHOP FOR REPAIRS THAT SHOULDN'T EVEN NEED TO BE DONE IN THE FIRST PLACE. I HAVE SEVERAL SMALL CHILDREN THAT RIDE IN MY VEHICLE DAILY AND NOW I FEEL THEIR LIVES ARE AT RISK WHENEVER WE GO TO THE GROCERY STORE. I DON'T HAVE HUNDREDS OR THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO KEEP DUMPING INTO MY VEHICLE FOR A REPAIR THAT FORD SHOULD RECALL AND FIX THEMSELVES. THERE ARE A FEW TSB'S OUT AT FORD CURRENTLY FOR THE AIRBAG SYSTEMS AND THEY SEEM TO BE PRIMARILY AN ISSUE WITH NEEDING DIELECTRIC GREASE ADDED AT THE CONNECTORS. I HAVE FOUND THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS FROM EXPLORER OWNERS WITH THE SAME CONCERNS AND RECEIVING LITTLE TO NO HELP FROM FORD. IT'S A MATTER OF THEM SAYING 'OH WELL' OR 'THERE'S NOTHING WE CAN DO'. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AND QUITE FRANKLY UNBELIEVABLE THAT IT'S HAPPENING ON A 40K CAR. SEVERAL MECHANICS HAVE ALSO STATED THAT A SAFETY ISSUE OF THIS MAGNITUDE SHOULD BE A RECALL.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE RECALL REPAIR COULD NOT BE PERFORMED BECAUSE THE VIN DID NOT MATCH THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,107.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT CAME ON. 2014 A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. I JUST BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE 3 WEEKS AGO, CAN I STILL HAVE WORK DONE.
I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING 'POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT' ERRORS ON STARTUP ON MY 2012 FORD EXPLORE FWD. THIS RESULTS IN COMPLETE POWER STEERING FAILURE WHICH MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO TURN THE WHEEL TO EITHER DIRECTION. I'VE READ THAT THERE IS A RECALL BUT FORD HAS NOT SENT ME ANY NOTIFICATIONS IN MAIL OR NOTIFIED ME WHEN I HAD THE CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE.
THE POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT WILL RANDOMLY SHUT DOWN MY ABILITY TO STEER THE VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENED ONCE WHILE LEAVING MY DRIVEWAY TO TAKE MY KIDS TO THE BUS STOP. I COULD NOT BUDGE THE STEERING, I LOST ALL CONTROL. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF, THAN RESTARTED IT, THE ASSIST FAULT WAS NOT ON NOW AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE. LUCKILY THIS OCCURRED BE FOR I LEFT MY DRIVEWAY BECAUSE YOU LOOSE ALL CONTROL OF THE STEERING. OTHER TIMES IT COMES ON WHEN I START THE VEHICLE AND WILL NOT GO OFF RIGHT AWAY, LEAVING ME STUCK AT WORK, GROCERY STORE SO ON. MY CAR IS NOW IN MY DRIVEWAY WITH THE FAULT ON. I HAVE TRIED EVERYDAY, BUT THE CAR IS NOT DRIVABLE AND THE FAULT WILL NOT SHUT OFF THIS TIME. I HAVE ONLY OWNED THIS CAR FOR TWO YEARS AND ONLY DRIVE IT WHEN I HAVE TO. I DON'T FEEL SAFE IN A CAR THAT LOOSES STEERING AT ANY TIME. IF I'M ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN IT SHUTS DOWN I FEEL THIS IS RISKING LIFE AND SAFETY OF MYSELF AND ANYONE AROUND ME.

I MADE MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT FORD CORPORATE TO RESOLVE AND THEY REFUSE TO COVER UNDER GUARANTEED RECALL OF THE POWER STEERING RACK AND PINEON. I HAVE AUTO SERVICE CENTER REPAIRS WITH A REPAIR COST OF $2000.00. PLEASE ASSIST IN COVERING THIS COST FOR REPAIRS UNDER WARRANTY RECALL. I HAVE ONLY OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR 2 YEARS. THANK YOU.

DEALER HAS RESET VEHICLE COMPUTER AND THAT MAY BE WHY NO OPEN RECALL SHOWS UP. INTERNET SEARCHES INDICATE THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER A PREVIOUS RECALL, BUT THERE IS NO EVIDENCE THAT THE VEHICLE EVER HAD RECALL WORK DONE. SO FAR THE PROBLEM ONLY PRESENTS ITSELF UPON INITIAL STARTUP WHILE THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY. HOWEVER, INTERNET SEARCHES SHOW THAT OTHERS HAVE HAD STEERING LOCK UP WHILE IN MOTION, CAUSING VEHICLE ACCIDENTS.

PLUGGING UP TWO SMALL PLUGS IN THE TRUNK AND REPROGRAMMING THE AIR CONDITIONING/HEAT SYSTEM DOES NOT ADDRESS AN APPARENT EXHAUST LEAK. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH EMPLOYEES OF FORD, SEEN COUNTLESS STORIES ONLINE ' THIS ISSUE IS NOT UNKNOWN OR UNDIAGNOSABLE. I HOPE THAT THE NHTSA MAY PROVOKE FORD TO DO THE RIGHT THING BEFORE SOMEONE GET SERIOUSLY HURT.
