WHENEVER PUTTING THE VEHICLE INTO REVERSE THERE WILL BE A LOUD POP AND WILL SLAM INTO GEAR. SIMILARLY WILL HAPPEN WHEN SHIFTED INTO DRIVE. THEN WHEN CHANGING GEARS FROM SECOND TO THIRD THE VEHICLE WILL HESITATE SWITCHING GEARS AND THE RPM WILL GO INTO THE 5000 RPM. WILL HAPPEN USUALLY WHEN SHIFTING AGAIN INTO A HIGHER GEAR. USUALLY CAN DRIVE AROUND FIVE TO TEN MILES AND WILL SORT ITSELF OUT. HOWEVER IF YOU ARE ENTERING TRAFFIC ESPECIALLY A BUSY ROAD SYSTEM THIS MAY NOT ALLOW YOU TO ACCELERATE TO A SAFE SPEED SINCE THE GEARS NOT SHIFTING WILL CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO STALL AND NOT ACCELERATE.
I STARTED HEARING A GRINDING NOISE WHEN TURNING THE VEHICLE IN EITHER DIRECTION IN REVERSE LAST WEEK. I TOOK A LITTLE TRIP ON DEC. 5 2020, GOING UP TO THE MOUNTAINS. IT GOT WORSE WHILE STEERING MY VEHICLE ON A MOUNTAIN ROAD. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT ON DECEMBER 7 TO THE LOCAL DEALER. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AT 50 MPH WHEN THE STEERING STARTED TO LOCK UP AND ALMOST CAUSED A COLLISION.THAT'S WHEN WE DECIDED IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE SO WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER ASAP AND WAS HANDED A REPAIR COST OF 2620.00 TO REPAIR STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY . THE VEHICLE HAD ONLY 47,700 MILES ON MY 2016 FORD EXPLORE XLT. IT IS NOW AT THE LOCAL FORD DEALER ON DECEMBER 9, 2020 AWAITING COMPLETION OF REPAIR AS VEHICLE IS NOT DRIVE-ABLE UNTIL REPAIRED. MY WIFE WAS ON THE HIGHWAY DRIVING WHEN SHE ENCOUNTERED ERRATIC BEHAVIOR FROM THE STEERING WHEEL GOING 50MPH. MY PARTS TOTAL FOR REPAIR IS 1,840.44 WITH LABOR TOTAL IS 2,620.00 WITH PARTS.

THE CONTACT CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER BUT THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM FORD ON THURSDAY. EVERYTIME I CALL TO MAKE A SERVICE APPOINT, I TOLD RECALL COMPUTERS ARE DOWN.
48K MILES PLATINUM EDITION , STEERING WHEEL BEGAN STICKING. RECENTLY STARTED PULLING HARD TO THE RIGHT AT TIMES. HAD IT LOOKED AT AND IT LOOKS LIKE AS WITH MANY MANY OTHERS LIKE IT, THE THE RACK AND PINION NEEDS TO REPLACED. FORD SHOULD BE FORCED TO RECALL THE CARS AND FIX THE PROBLEM. THERE ARE LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. WHEN IS THE NHTSA GOING TO STEP UP AND DO SOMETHING? AFTER PEOPLE START DYING?
THERE IS AN SRS AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD THAT USED TO INTERMITTENTLY DISPLAY. NOW IT IS ON CONSISTENTLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS DRIVEN. IT IS DUE TO A CIRCUIT FAILURE OR A BROKEN CORD LEADING TO THE DRIVER SIDE MIDDLE ROW SEATBELT AIRBAG. THE TRUTH TO THE MATTER IS...FORD DOES NOT CARE THAT A POTENTIALLY HIGH RISK PROBLEM HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AS A FAILURE ON THE COMPANY'S END BUT THEY DON'T CARE ENOUGH TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. WELL..OTHER THAN CHARGE THE CUSTOMER CLOSE TO $1000 OUT OF POCKET TO FIX FOR A POOR DESIGN ON FORD'S END. THE FORD DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT DOES NOT KNOW HOW THIS SAFETY FEATURE BROKE. IF WE WERE TO GET IN AN ACCIDENT WHILE THE AIRBAG IS IN THIS STATE, IT WOULD NOT DEPLOY AND THE LIVES OF ALL PASSENGERS IN JEOPARDY!

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO STEVENS FORD OF MILFORD (717 BRIDGEPORT AVE, MILFORD, CT 06460) WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW WATER PUMP. THE CONTACT DECLINED THE REPAIR. THE CONTACT THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE SHE HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 78,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that after a rainy day, while entering the vehicle, she noticed water on the front passenger’s side floor. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the windshield to be sealed. The vehicle was repaired but a year later she experienced the failure again. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000.
UPON STARTING MY CAR FOR THE THIRD TIME THAT DAY MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND DOES NOT GO OFF. I ALSO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH IT OCCASIONALLY NOT REGISTERING MY DRIVERS SEATBELT AS BUCKLED OR UNBUCKLED.

INSTEAD THEY ARE CHARGING FOR TROUBLE SHOOTING TO LOOK UP THE CODE AND THEN OFFERING TO LOOK INTO REPLACING PARTS TO GET THE SYSTEM WORKING AGAIN UNDER THE ALREADY ISSUED TSB FOR THE FAULTY SAFETY SYSTEM. I TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR AN AIRBAG LIGHT AND WAS TOLD THAT THE WIRE ASSEMBLY LOCATED UNDER THE REAR SEAT WAS DAMAGED/FAULTY. WHEN ACCELERATING AN ODOR LIKE BURNT HAIR OR ELECTRICAL ENTERS THE CABIN. FORD DID PERFORM RECALL WORK BUT THE ODOR STILL ENTERS THE CABIN.
MY WATER PUMP HAS GONE OUT AND APPARENTLY THIS HAS NOT BEEN THE ONLY ONE.

2016 Ford Explorer 3.5 Liter (non-turbo) front wheel drive, automatic, 44k miles. Loss of power, vehicle jerked and stayed in one gear. We limped the car home and let it cool down. After the car cooled down, we went on small test drive and confirmed it was shifting erratically. We took the car to the dealer and they confirmed a component in the transmission had failed, disabling the vehicle. Over $3,000 worth of transmission repairs were made under warranty.
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHEN I GO TO START THE VEHICLE I GET A MESSAGE ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DASH CLUSTER THAT SAYS " STEERING ASSIST FAULT FAILURE, SEEK SERVICE." THE VEHICLE WON'T START. AFTER I KEEP PRESSING THE START BUTTON IF WILL START. I CARRIED IT TO THE DEALER ( PARADISE FORD IN COCOA, FL) AND THEY SAID THERE WERE NO CODES IN THE SYSTEM BUT DID SAY THERE WERE A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THE STEERING FAILURE ON THAT MODEL AND WOULD COST AROUND $2,500.00 TO REPAIR OUT OF MY POCKET. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS A LITTLE OVER 5,000 MILES ON IT AS OF 11/29/20.

THE CONTACT BECAME AWARE OF TREAD SEPARATION ON ALL FOUR TIRES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS MORE SEVERE ON THE TWO FRONT TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE TIRES REPLACED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE TIRES FAILED TO MAINTAIN THE PROPER TIRE PRESSURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,132.
WHEN BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND TURNING SLOWLY THERE IS A POPING NOISE AND MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP MULTIPLE TIMES. BEFORE THIS I SPENT 1000 BUCKS TO GET THE WIRING HARNESS FOR AIR BAGS REPLACED. NONE OF THEM WORK FORD WOULD NOT COVER IT BECAUSE THERE IS NOT A RECALL.
RANDOMLY ONE OF THE CAPTAIN CHAIRS SEAT BELTS NO LONGER BUCKLES. IT'S A AIRBAG SEATBELT WITH A DIFFERENT TYPE OF LATCH. WE HAVE NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THESE TYPE OF BUCKLES SINCE WE BOUGH THE VEHICLE. THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE WHOLE HOUSING UNIT ON THE OTHER SIDE WITHIN THE FIRST 6 MONTHS BECAUSE IT JUST FELL APART.
Exhaust leaks into cab under moderate to heavy acceleration with windows closed it is even worse when accelerating with the windows open
POWER STEERING LOCKED UP , WELL ITS ELECTRIC STEERING .AND THE WARRING LIGHTS CAME ON TERRAIN ASSIST AND HILL ASSIST DISABLED, SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC ,STEERING LOSS , I WAS TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY DOING ABOUT 70 MILES AN HOUR WHEN THIS HAPPED I ALMOST LOSS CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE . THERE ARE SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WITH THE FORD EXPLORE STEERING ISSUSE .

THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT OF MANUFACTURER COMMUNICATIONS NUMBER: 16-0001 AND PROVIDED AN ESTIMATE FOR THE COST OF THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000.

WITHIN 10 DAYS OF BUYING IT BRAND NEW I'VE HAD ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. REPLACED BACK UP SCREEN WITHIN THOSE 10 DAYS EVEN THOUGH THEY DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. STILL CONTINUES. MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH THE POWER TRAIN. NOW I'VE BEEN OUT OF A CAR FOR 2 WEEKS BECAUSE I MIGHT NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION AT 65,000 NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. HOW CAN I PAY $38,000 AND IT GOES BAD INSTANTLY? NO HELP FROM FORD OR DEALER. MY GEARS ARE STALLING AND NOT SHIFTING CORRECTLY OR PICKING UP SPEED. WHILE I WAS DRIVING I STARTED TO GET A STRONG SMELL OF ROTTEN EGGS/SULFUR THAT FILLED THE CABIN. IT GOT SO STRONG THAT I HAD TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS TO AIR IT OUT AND IT STARTED TO GIVE ME A HEADACHE. IT HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE DRIVING BACK TO MY HOME THAT SAME DAY. THE SMELL GOT SO STRONG IT STARTED TO MAKE ME DIZZY, NAUSEOUS AND GAVE ME A HEADACHE.

AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON VEHICLE. CHECKED ALL WIRES UNDER THE SEAT AND NONE ARE LOOSE OR DAMAGED. SEARCHED TOPIC ONLINE AND APPEARS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE. FORD ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THE REPAIRS BUT WILL NOT COVER UNDER WARRANTY OR ISSUE RECALL. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY WHEN THIS LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED.
THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED WHILE WE WERE DRIVING IN THE CAR. WE TURNED LEFT INTO THE GROCERY STORE AND THEN BACK RIGHT TO ENTER A PARKING SPOT AND THE STEERING LOCKED AND WE ALMOST RAN INTO A PARKED CAR. LUCKILY WE SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES IN TIME TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. WE HAD TO CRANK THE STEERING WHEEL ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT TO ALLOW IT TO "RELEASE" AND GIVE US SOME STEERING BACK...BUT AFTER THAT THE STEERING NOW CLICKS WHILE YOU TURN LEFT OR RIGHT BADLY. WE TOOK IT INTO OUR DEALER...THEY SAID IT IS THE STEERING GEAR MOTOR. THE CAR WAS IN THE SAME DEALERSHIP 1 WEEK PRIOR TO THIS GETTING AN OIL CHANGE AND NO SIGNS OF MALFUNCTION OR WEAR/TEAR...WITHOUT WARNING THE STEERING LOCKED UP ON US...VERY FRIGHTENING...OUR CAR IS 4 YEARS OLD AND ONLY HAS 16,000 MILES ON IT. AND THEY CANNOT EXPLAIN EXACTLY WHY IT HAPPENED. SO I AM UNSURE OF IF/WHEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN.
The drivers side windshield trim panel came off of the car while driving down a highway at 55mph. Luckily, there were no other cars on the highway and no further damage or injury occurred.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED COST ME $3,000 TO FIX BY CONSUMER'S MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 107,000.*DT*JB
TWO SEPARATE FAILURE WITHIN A FOUR DAY TIME SPAN. COMPANY SOLD ME THE VEHIXAL SAID IT WAS A TIE ROD AND FIXED THE RIGHT PASSENGER REAR WHEEL. THE VEHICAL WAS REAL EASED TO ME TODAY WITH THE UNDERSTANDING THAT THE REAR SUSPENSION WAS FULLY REPAIRED. I HAD A HIGH SPEED ACCIDENT AFTER THE LEFT REAR TIR ROD BROKE AT A SPEED OF 80 MPH. DUE TO THE SUSPENSION BREAKAGE, THE CAR WENT OFF THE INTERSTATE AT HIGH SPEED. THE REAR END SUSPENSION HAD COMPLETE FAILURE AND THE AUTO DEALERSHIP RELEASED THE VEHICLE TO ME WITH THE FULL WITH ASSURANCE THE ISSUE WAS FIXED. THIS WAS A VERY SERIOUS INCIDENT WITH A POTENTIAL DEADLY OUTCOME.
POWER STEERING FAILED COMPLETELY ON MY 2016 FORD EXPLORER WHILE DRIVING. DASHBOARD LIT UP WITH A STEERING ASSIST FAULT, AND THEN HILL ASSIST FAULT. STEERING THE VEHICLE TO SAFETY WAS VERY CHALLEGING. I WAS TURNING AT A LEFT TURN LIGHT AND ALMOST CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE BECAUSE I COULD NOT STEER THE CAR. LOOKED IT UP ONLINE AND HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS OTHER ACCOUNTS OF THE SAME ISSUE WITH NO REPSONSE OR RECALL FROM FORD.
I HAD THE REAR TOE LINKS REPLACED DUE TO A SAFETY RECALL DECEMBER 2, 2019. ON 09/27/20, I WAS RETURNING HOME AFTER DROPPING MY KIDS OFF TRAVELING 70 MPH ON A HIGHWAY, WHEN THE RECAL PART I HAD REPLACED LESS THAN A YEAR AGO BREAK. THIS CAUSED ME TO LOSE CONTROL AND HAVE AN ACCIDENT. I NOTIFIED FORD OF THIS 09/28/20 AND I WAS INFORMED THAT THE RECAL WAS COMPLETED, NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I INFORMED THEM THE PART BROKE AT THE WELD WHICH IS A DEFECTIVE PART. AGAIN, I WAS TOLD OT THEIR PROBLEM. THIS IS ALSO ANY OTHER PROBLEMS THAT IT MAY HAVE CAUSED DUE TO STRESS ON VEHICLE, LIKE OTHER TOE LINK, TIRES, BRAKES, OTHER SUSPENSION PARTS. ENCLOSED IS PART AND PART NUMBER THAT WAS THE RECAL PART REPLACED BY A FORD DEALERSHIP AND DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. I WAS LUCKY I DID NOT HIT THE OTHER VEHICLES AROUND ME, HIT HEAD ON WITH CENTER DIVIDER OR GUARDRAIL, ROLL THE VEHICLE OR HAVE SERIOUS INJURY.
MY TIRE VALVE CORRODED AFTER 3 YEARS WITH THE CAR. WHICH CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE TIRE AND THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR. THE POWER STEERING WENT AT 67000 MILES. IT STOPPED WORKING COMPLETELY WHILE DRIVING, EXTREMELY SCARY. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT IS JUST SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS. $2400 FIX ON A 4 YEAR OLD CAR WITH 67000 MILES AND COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT.

PER FORD WEBSITE, I WAS TOLD THAT MY SYNC SOFTWARE NEED AN UPGRADE WHEN I TYPED IN THE VIN, THEN I FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTION ON WEBSITE BUT THE PROGRAM I DOWNLOADED MESSED UP MY APIM MODULE ON MY CAR AND RADIO, GPS, AND OTHER FUNCTION AE NOT WORKING. SO I TOOK MY SUV TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WILL COST ME $1050 TO FIX THE ISSUE.

THANKFULLY WAS AT A LOW SPEED AND COULD STOP SAFELY BEFORE LEAVING OUR NEIGHBORHOOD. PUT VEHICLE IN PARK, POWERED OFF, POWERED BACK ON, AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE AGAIN. VEHICLE HAS 56K MILES ON IT.
I HAVE A 2016 FORD EXPLORER WITH 94,000 MILES. WE NOTICED THAT THE AC WAS BLOWING HOT AIR SO WE TOOK THE CAR IN FOR A REPAIR ON 9/8/2020. THE DEALERSHIP CALLED US BACK TO INFORM US THAT THE WATER PUMP HAD FAILED WHICH CAUSED ANTIFREEZE TO LEAK INTO AND ON THE AC COMPRESSOR CAUSING IT TO FAIL. WE WERE QUOTED A PRICE OF $2600.00 FOR THE REPAIR THE WATER PUMP. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT MANY POLICE CRUISERS WITH THE SAME MOTOR ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. FORD RECOMMENDS THAT THE WATER PUMP BE REPLACED AT 150000 MILES' THE MILES ON THE SUV ARE HIGHWAY MILES.
The contact owns a 2016 Ford Explorer. The contact stated that the trim located around the front driver side windshield loosened and detached from the vehicle while driving at highway speeds. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer where they replaced the trim on the front driver side windshield and tightened the trim on the front passenger side windshield. Despite the repair, the contact stated that the trim loosened again on both sides of the windshield. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. TOOK VEHICLE TO A SHOP AND WAS ADVISED IT WAS THE RACK AND PINION ON THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE AREA. THE VEHICLE IS A 2016 AND HAS 41K MILES. THIS ISSUE BEGAN MANIFESTING APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS PRIOR. ESTIMATED COST TO REPAIR IS $2500. ACCORDING TO VEHICLE FORUMS THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE MAKE AND MODEL.

AT THIS POINT I HAD COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING. I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SAFELY AND HAD TO HAVE TOWED TO THE FORD DEALER IN MY TOWN WHICH IS WAS 2 HOURS AWAY. FORD DEALERSHIP DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE.WHICH IS INTEGRAL WITH THE RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY. COST OF REPAIR IS 2400.00 OF COURSE I HAVE A LIFETIME WARRANTY ON MOST PARTS INCLUDING FUEL PUMP, ENGINE ,TRANSMISSION BUT RACK AND PINION NOT CONSIDERED UNDER THIS WARRANTY. *TR
LOSS OF STEERING WHILE DRIVING. NEARLY CAUSED A 4 CAR COLLISION. STEERING WHEEL LOCKED WHILE DRIVING 57 MPH. WAS BARELY ABLE TO SLOW DOWN AND PULL OFF TO THE SIDE. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES, HOWEVER AFTER THIS LAST TIME, THE STEERING WHEEL IS PERMANENTLY LOCKED. STEERING LOSS LIGHT CAME ON AFTERWARDS.
