TAKATA RECALL. WHENEVER I MANEUVER SLOWLY WHEN I PARK HORIZONTALLY, I CAN HEAR CRACKLING SOUND AND THIS WAS FIXED TWICE BY FORD DEALER. RECENTLY, THE DASHBOARD HAD WARNING THAT STEERING IS NOT WORKING. THE STEERING BECAME STIFF RIGHT AWAY AND STIFFER THAT HAVE TO DRIVE SLOWLY AND TURN ON MY HAZARD LIGHT THE NEXT 3 MILES TO REACH HOME. I COULD HARDLY TURN THE WHEEL THAT HAVE TO AVOID ROADS WHERE I HAVE TO TURN. IT WAS FIXED BY SAME DEALER AND GOT MY VEHICLE AFTER A WEEK. THE MILEAGE IS 18,000 AND NOW I'M NOT CONFIDENT TO TAKE MY 3 YEAR OLD CAR ON LONG DISTANCE DRIVE. THE SUSPENSION WAS FIXED AS WELL MID 2018 FOR THE CAR IS RUNNING LIKE A 20 YEAR OLD TRUCK ON THE ROAD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD EXPLORER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE AIR BAGS WIRING HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR THE MOST RECENT FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000. *LN CONSUMER STATED THE FIRST TIME MECHANIC TIGHTENED THE CONNECTORS SECOND TIME THE HARNESS WAS REPLACED AND THE THIRD TIME MECHANIC SAYS HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN AND THE CONSUMER NEEDS TO FOOT THE BILL EVEN THOUGH IT IS WITHIN WARRANTY PERIOD.*JB
MY STEERING RACK/PINION HAS GONE COMPLETELY OUT. AT FIRST THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD MAKE NOISES WHEN TURNING, HOWEVER NOW IT IS COMPLETELY IMPOSSIBLE TO DRIVE. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND PREVIOUS MODEL EXPLORERS HAVE HAD THE EXACT SAME ISSUES AND MULTIPLE 2016 MODELS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. I CAN'T FIND A PART, I CAN'T DRIVE MY VEHICLE. WHAT IS NEEDED FOR A RECALL TO HAPPEN ON THIS MODEL?
2016 FORD EXPLORER WINDSHIELD PILLAR TRIM FALLING OFF. IVE READ NUMEROUS POST ABOUT OTHERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. FLYING OFF THE VEHICLE WHILE GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. DANGER OF HITTING THE CAR BEHIND OR CAUSING THEM TO SWERVE AND WRECK. THE DEALERSHIP WANTS ALMOST $1000 TO FIX THIS, THATS OUTRAGEOUS AND FORD SHOULD BE PAYING FOR THESE REPAIRS.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 FORD EXPLORER. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE AIR BAG SENSOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ELDER FORD (777 JOHN R. RD, TROY, MI) WHERE THE WIRE HARNESS WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN SERVICED ON FIVE SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
I BROUGHT MY 2016 FORD EXPLORER SPORT INTO LHM DRAPER ON APRIL 29TH WITH SOME SERVICE CONCERNS. THE MOST IMPORTANT PROBLEM WAS A CLUNKING/KNOCKING/BUCKLING NOISE IN THE FRONT END WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL. AFTER LEAVING THE CAR FOR 12 DAYS I DISCOVERED THEY DID NOT FIX ANYTHING. FOR THE NEXT 9 DAYS AS I DROVE THE CAR I NOTICED THAT THE CLUNKING NOISE WAS STILL VERY MUCH PRESENT AND HAPPENING EVERY SINGLE DAY. THERE WASN'T A SINGLE DAY THAT I DIDN'T HEAR THIS NOISE. I TOOK THE CAR BACK IN ON MAY 24TH AGAIN FOR A CLUNKING/KNOCKING NOISE IN FRONT END WHEN THE WHEEL IS TURNED. ALSO A WHINING/WINDING NOISE FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. I PICKED THE CAR UP ON JUNE 4TH ONLY TO DISCOVER IT STILL WASN'T FIXED. I HAVE SENT SEVERAL MESSAGES TO THE DEALER WITH NO RESPONSE. THE CAR MAKES THIS NOISE DAILY. TO MY DISMAY, I DID SOME GOOGLE SEARCHES ON THE INTERNET YESTERDAY FOR POTENTIAL CAUSES OF THIS KNOCKING NOISE AND DISCOVERED THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM WITH FORD EXPLORERS!!! THERE ARE HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS!!! I ALSO UNDERSTAND FORD RECALLED EARLIER MODEL YEAR EXPLORERS WITH POWER STEERING PROBLEMS WITH THIS SAME KNOCKING NOISE. I AM CONCERNED THAT I AM NOW OUTSIDE OF MY WARRANTY PERIOD. I KNOW ALL TOO WELL ABOUT THAT. WE HAVE A 2006 FORD F350 WITH ONLY 55,000 MILES SITTING ON THE SIDE OF OUR HOUSE THAT HASN'T BEEN DRIVABLE FOR YEARS. ABOUT A YEAR AFTER WE BOUGHT THE TRUCK, WE BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH OVERHEATING AND ONE DAY IT STARTED BLOWING WHITE SMOKE. WE IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WERE TOLD THAT THIS PARTICULAR TRUCK HAS PROBLEMS WITH THE EGR COOLER. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED, BUT SOMETIME AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED IT BEGAN EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS AND FORD WASHED THEIR HANDS OF IT. WE'VE BEEN TOLD THAT IT WILL COST OVER $10K TO GET IT FIXED. SO THERE IT SITS! THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD WITH 33,000 MILES.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO GILBOY FORD (2805 MACARTHUR RD, WHITEHALL, PA 18052) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON MARCH 28, 2019. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,500.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 55MPH. HEARD A LOUD NOISE. THOUGHT I HAD SCRAPED A TREE AS WAS IN AN AREA WITH ALOT TREES. THE NEXT DAY NOTICED THAT THE PILLAR TRIM ON MY PASSENGER DOOR WAS GONE. CHECKED THE REST OF MY CAR AND THE PILLAR TRIM ON THE WINDSHIELD IS LOOSE ALSO. RESEARCHED THIS ON THE WEB AND IT IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THIS TRIM FLYING OFF AT HIGH RATES OF SPEED AND STRIKING EITHER MY OWN WINDSHIELD OR ANOTHER VEHICLE BEHIND ME. CONTACTED FORD AND WAS TOLD THANK YOU FOR CONCERN BUT NO SOLUTION TO THIS ISSUE. I AM PRETTY SURE PIECES FLYING OFF A VEHICLE GOING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED SHOULD BE OF CONCERN. I NOW KNOW WHAT THAT WHISTLING SOUND WAS THAT I WOULD HEAR WHEN DRIVING. IT WAS THE LOOSE TRIM CATCHING THE WIND.
94000 MILES THE TRANSFER CASE BURST AND WHEN 70000 MILES CHARGING CYCLE DOES NOT WORK , THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPS.
HAD THE RACK AND PINION STEERING FAIL AT 30,000 MILES ,WHEN I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL EVEN SLIGHTLY IT SOUNDED LIKE METAL WAS GRINDING.
ON 3/21/19 I WAS DRIVING WHEN A CAR STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME AND I HIT THEM. MY AIRBAG WENT OFF AND WAS SMOKING BLACK SMOKE. THERE WAS ALSO A FIRE, ABOUT 1.5 FT TALL THAT APPEARED FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE HOOD. I SAT IN SHOCK UNTIL SOMEONE TOLD ME TO GET OUT. I GOT OUT AND GRABBED MY 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. SHE WAS IN A CAR SEAT AND STILL SECURED AFTER THE ACCIDENT. THANKFULLY WE WERE NOT SERIOUSLY INJURED. WE SAT WATCHING MY CAR QUICKLY ENGULF IN FLAMES. BY THE TIME THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME THE CAR WAS PRETTY MUCH ALL BURNED. I LOST A LOT OF VALUABLE AND SENTIMENTAL PERSONAL BELONGINGS IN MY CAR WHICH INSURANCE DOES NOT COVER THE COST OF. IT WAS A TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE TO GO THROUGH FOR MY DAUGHTER AND I. I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT A MINOR ACCIDENT SHOULD CAUSE A FIRE LIKE THIS. I HAVE REACHED OUT FOR FORD MULTIPLE TIMES AND THEY WILL NOT INVESTIGATE WHICH I FIND EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING. I WOULD LIKE TO PREVENT THIS HORRIBLE THING HAPPENING TO SOMEONE ELSE. ALTHOUGH WE WERE NOT INJURED IT COULD HAVE BEEN A LOT WORSE, AND EVEN DEADLY.
STARTED HEARING GRINDING NOISE WHEN TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT. RACK AND PINION WENT BAD AT 78000 MILES.
I HAVE HAD MY FORD EXPLORER FOR ALMOST TWO MONTHS AND JUST TOOK MY FIRST LONG TRIP. I TRAVELED 6 HOURS IN THE CAR STOPPING TWICE FOR REST STOP BREAKS. ABOUT 4 HOURS INTO THE TRIP I BEGAN EXPERIENCING DIZZINESS AND NAUSEA. THESE SYMPTOMS CONTINUED FOR APPROXIMATELY THREE HOURS AFTER ARRIVING AT MY DESTINATION. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN ON THE HIGHWAY WITH HEAT ON AND BEING RECIRCULATED THROUGH THE ENTIRE DRIVE. I SAW A NEWS ARTICLE REGUARDING THE CONCERNS OVER FORD EXPLORERS CARBON MONOXIDE CONCERNS AND THOUGHT I MIGHT HAVE EXPERIENCED IT. I NEVER GET SICK OR EXPERIENCE MOTION SICKNESS.
REQUIRED A NEW TRANSMISSION. REPORTED INITIAL PROBLEM AT 58,000 MILES THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND A PROBLEM WHILE CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. CAR WAS EXPERIENCING A HESITATION DURING ACCELERATION. AT 80,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACE (OUT OF WARRANTY). REQUIRE NEW BATTERY AND CABLES AFTER BATTER "EXPLODED" CORRODING THE BATTERY CABLES. (68,000 MILES). REQUIRED A NEW WATER PUMP AT 86,000 MILES.
I RECEIVED A "TERRAIN MANAGEMENT FAULT" ALERT WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, AND IMMEDIATELY HAD A LOSS OF POWER AND VERY SLOW ACCELERATION AFTER STOPPING. UPON REACHING MY HOME THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT DRIVE UP A SMALL INCLINE IN MY DRIVEWAY. THE "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" CAME ON AND THERE IS NOW A LOUD METALLIC CLANG WHEN SHIFTING INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE. THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 13, 655 MILES ON IT. I CALLED FORD ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND THEY WILL HAVE A TOW TRUCK TAKE IT TO A FORD DEALER IN THE MORNING FOR TESTING..
END OF MARCH 2019 AFTER DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON A FRIDAY EVENING THE CAR SMELLED LIKE EXHAUST FUMES (ROTTEN EGGS) WHEN I PARKED THE CAR IN THE GARAGE. I CALLED DEALER AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE THE CAR IN. OVER THE WEEKEND BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE CAR THE SMELL WAS TERRIBLE. TOOK CAR TO FORD DEALER FOR REPAIR. THEY SUGGESTED I NEEDED A NEW BATTERY (9 MONTHS OLD BATTERY - WAS TOLD BATTERY CAUSING SMELL). PICKED UP CAR AND DROVE HOME. ONCE AGAIN UPON PARKING CAR STILL SMELLED LIKE EXHAUST. CAR WAS RETURNED TO DEALER. DEALER REPLACED PCV VALVE. PICKED UP CAR - DROVE HOME - CAR STILL SMELLS LIKE EXHAUST FUMES. CAR HAS GONE INTO DEALER 4 TIMES FOR SAME PROBLEM. CAN NO LONGER PARK CAR INSIDE OF GARAGE AT HOME DUE TO EXHAUST SMELL AND POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUES. DEALER SAYS THEY HAVE DONE EVERYTHING PURSUANT TO FORD'S INSTRUCTION AND THEIR HANDS ARE TIED. DEALER ADMITS THE CAR SMELLS OF EXHAUST FUMES OUTSIDE OF CAR. INSIDE THE CAR I AM KEEPING THE RECYCLED AIR ON TO TRY TO PREVENT THE EXHAUST FROM COMING IN THE CAR. CAR NEEDS TO BE FIXED BY FORD AS THE EXHAUST SMELL IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TO A 3 YR. OLD CAR.
THE AIRBAG CONTROLLER LIGHT IS ON ON THE DASH. I HAD A DIAGNOSED AND MY DEALERSHIP AND THEY COME TO SAY THAT THE WIRING HARNESS CONTROL IN THE REAR AIRBAGS IS DAMAGED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP I SAID THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN NOTICING IN 2016 FORD EXPLORE MODELS MORE AND MORE. I AM CURIOUS IF THIS IS A SAFETY RECALL THAT NEEDS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF BY FORD.
AFTER 44K MILES THE STEERING RACK IS COMPLETELY BROKEN AND REQUIRES A FULL REPLACEMENT. THIS IS GREATER THAN $2500 COST FOR A NEW CAR CAR MAKES A LOUD MECHANICAL CLUNKING SOUND WHEN TURNING RIGHT. HAD IT REVIEWED BY LOCAL FORD DEALER AND THEY SAID BEARINGS ON THE RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY ARE GOING. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHERE A NEW CAR WITH SUCH LOW MILES HAS A STEERING SYSTEM THAT REQUIRES FULL REPLACEMENT. INTERNET SEARCHES HAVE SHOWN MANY INSTANCES OF PEOPLE REQUIRING A REPLACEMENT OF THE SYSTEM.
WHEN DRIVING THE 2016 FORD EXPLORER LIMITED, HAVING THE VEHICLE IN CIRCULATION MODE, AND GOING ABOVE 4000 RPMS, CARBON MONOXIDE IS ENTERING MY VEHICLE. I HAVE PURCHASED AN CO METER THAT READS A LITTLE AS 9PPM. IT EASILY GETS UP OVER 15PPM AND SMELLS TERRIBLE. LIKE ROTTEN EGGS. I MUST ROLL DOWN THE WINDOWS AND WAIT IN ORDER FOR THE GAS TO DISSIPATE. IT'S VERY DANGEROUS. IT HAPPENS WHILE IN MOTION, STATIONARY DOESN'T SEEM TO CAUSE ANY LEAKS. I DON'T HAVE PICTURES BUT WILL TAKE SOME IMMEDIATELY IN CASE THERE NEEDED.

MILLER FORD LAKEWOOD (11595 6TH AVE, LAKEWOOD, CO 80215) FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,600. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
RANDOMLY, CAR BEGAN MAKING A GRINDING NOISE WHEN TURNING ONE DAY. TOOK CARE INTO SHOP AND DISCOVERED THAT STEERING RACK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. CAR ONLY HAS 70K MILES AND WILL COST $2,300 TO REPAIR.
WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET AT ~78 MPH ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION APPEARED TO SHIFT INTO A LOW GEAR CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SUDDENLY DECELERATE AND THE ENGINE TO REV TO MATCH THE SET SPEED. THE VEHICLE DECELERATED FROM 78 TO ABOUT 40 AS IF I HAD SLAMMED ON THE BRAKES. AFTER STOPPING AND TALKING WITH MY DEALER HE RECOMMENDED TO CONTINUE AS NO WARNING LIGHTS OR INDICATORS APPEARED ON THE CAR. I CONTINUED ON THE ROAD AT A MUCH REDUCED SPEED. AFTER A SHORT DISTANCE THE VEHICLE AGAIN SELF SHIFTED TO A LOWER GEAR WITH THE ENGINE RPM'S SHOWING APPROXIMATELY 3000 AT ABOUT 55 MPH. DEALER IS INSTALLING A NEW TRANSMISSION BUT CAN NOT IDENTIFY WHAT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SHIFT GEARS ON ITS OWN.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.

WHILE DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT WITH EPS FAILURE ERROR MESSAGES: "STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED" AND "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC" COULD NOT STEER THE VEHICLE EFFECTIVELY AND NEEDED TO PULL OFF THE ROAD. THERE WERE NO WARNING SIGNS OR PREVIOUS ISSUES. NO RESTART, BATTERY DISCONNECT OR FIX WAS/IS AVAILABLE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO RECOGNIZED FULL STEERING RACK/PINION FAILURE AT ONLY 50,000 MILES.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ARROWAY FORD (LOCATED AT 519 N BEDFORD RD, BEDFORD HILLS, NY 10507) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC STEERING GEAR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
MY WIFE, DAUGHTER AND I WERE DRIVING FORM NYC TO BALTIMORE IN MY 2016 FORD EXPLORER. IN THE LAST 10 MINUTES OF THE TRIP I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 65MPH. I RECEIVED A WARNING MESSAGE ON MY VEHICLE STATING THAT POWER STEERING HAS MALFUNCTIONED AND TO SERVICE NOW. I SLOWED THE VEHICLE DOWN AND TRAVELED ANOTHER 8 MILES TO MY DESTINATION. AFTER CONSULTING MY OWNER'S MANUAL, I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND GOT THE SAME MESSAGE AS WELL AS ANOTHER ONE SAYING THAT THE LANE DETECTING SENSOR WAS MALFUNCTIONING AS WELL. THE NEXT MORNING I WAS GOING TO TAKE IT TO A NEARBY DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE. HOWEVER WHEN I STARTED THE VEHICLE AND TRIED TO MOVE FORWARD THE STEERING WAS VERY STIFF AND DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. CURRENTLY THEY ARE ASSESSING THE VEHICLE AND MENTIONED THAT THIS HAPPENS WITH SOME MAKES AND MODELS AND THAT I MAY HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS WHICH COULD COST IN THE $2000 DOLLAR RANGE. I HAVE REACHED OUT TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY HAVE PASSED ME TO 3 DIFFER DEPARTMENTS ALL WHO SAY THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO.

VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY THANKFULLY AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED AND DOES NOT MOVE .

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO QUIRK FORD OF AUGUSTA (207-560-1371, LOCATED AT 7 WATER ST, HALLOWELL, ME 04347) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC POWER ASSIST STEERING SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. THE FAILURE WAS REPAIRED AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 43,000.
3RD ROW SEATS STOPPED WORKING, SEATS STUCK IN STOWED POSITION (SO I CAN'T GET TO MY SPARE TIRE.) NO MOTOR SOUNDS, REAR INTERIOR LIGHTS ALSO STOPPED WORKING. BECAUSE THERE IS NO WAY TO OPERATE THE 3RD ROW SEATS WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION, ALL OF THE OPERATION AND TROUBLESHOOTING OF THE THIRD ROW SEATS HAVE HAPPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED AND IN PARK.
STEERING WHEEL NOT MOVING, NOT ABLE TO CONTROL IT.MILAGE ON CAR 42,000. CAR TOWED TO A DEALER. THEY FOUND, THAT THE RACK AND PINION IS COMPLETELY LOCKED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. ESTIMATE REPAIR AT 2,400. WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER IT. A CASE WAS OPEN WITH FORD.
STARTED HEARING NOISE AND FEELING VIBRATION WHEN STEERING TO THE RIGHT WHILE DRIVING AND PARKING; GOT MORE PRONOUNCED OVER SEVERAL DAYS. TOOK VEHICLE TO FORD WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED NEED TO REPLACE STEERING GEAR/RACK & PINION ASSEMBLY. REPAIR COST $2125. VEHICLE HAD 51K MILES. SEEMS UNUSUAL TO HAVE MAJOR PART FAIL AFTER 3 YEARS OF DRIVING.

HANKOOK TRIES ARE SHREDDING AND PREMATURE TIRE WEAR. VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 33K MILES. SHREDDED TIRES CAUSING VEHICLE TO SLIP AND SLIDE ON THE ROAD WHILE IN MOTION. I ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT. NOW AFRAID FOR MY SAFETY; AFRAID TO DRIVE IN SNOW.
I HAVE A 2016 EXPLORER WHICH HAS 2ND ROW AIRBAG SEATBELTS. WHEN PURCHASING MY CAR IT WAS EXPLAINED TO ME THAT REAR AIRBAG SEATBELTS WERE THE BEST SAFETY FEATURE FOR CHILDREN. I DID NOT HAVE CHILDREN AT THE TIME. I NOW HAVE A 2 YEAR OLD WHOM WILL BE EXCEEDING THE LATCH WEIGHT LIMIT SHORTLY. UPON ATTEMPTING TO INSTALL HIS CAR SEAT REAR FACING, IT BECAME APPARENT I AM UNABLE TO RUN AN AIRBAG SEAT BELT THROUGH MY CHILDS CAR SEAT. IT IS A EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD. I REQUESTED MY SEAT BELTS BE CHANGED OUT FOR REGULAR SEAT BELTS AND I WAS TOLD THIS COULD NOT BE DONE AS IT WOULD DEACTIVATE MY CARS AIRBAGS SYSTEM. PLEASE HELP ME FIND A SOLUTION AS I CANNOT PUT HIM IN THE CENTER SEAT. HIS CAR SEAT DOES NOT FIT BEING THE CENTER SEAT OF THE EXPLORER IS NOT A FULL-SIZED SEAT. TOOK A QUICK LOOK UP TOP AND MY SUNROOF WAS CLOSED CORRECTLY. I OPENED THE SUNROOF AND POURED SOME WATER INTO THE CHANNEL AND WATER SEEMS TO DRAIN DOWN THE HOLES CORRECTLY. I ALSO CLOSED THE ROOF ALL THE WAY AND SPRAYED IT WITH A GARDEN HOSE, AND DIDNT SEE ANY LEAKING. I CANT SEE WHERE AND WHY WATER WOULD BE LEAKING OUT OF THE OVERHEAD CONSOLE. DID A QUICK SEARCH ON YOUTUBE AND FOUND SOMEONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM, BUT COULDNT FIND A SOLUTION
I HAVE 28,452 MILES ON MY CAR AND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. I GET A WARNING WHICH SAYS STEERING ASSIST FAULT SERVICE REQUIRED, TERRAIN MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FAULT, AND SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC ERRORS UPON STARTING MY VEHICLE. IN RESEARCHING THESE ERRORS, IT SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORD EXPLORERS AND A COSTLY ONE TO FIX. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A MANUFACTURE DEFECT, DUE TO THE SHEER NUMBER OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS AND LOW MILEAGE. IN ADDITION, THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY PROBLEM IF ONE WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD WHICH ALSO SEEMS TO HAPPENED.

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY (RT. 84) IN PA AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEARD A REALLY LOUD "POP" NOISE. I THOUGH THAT I BLEW A TIRE BUT MY GAUGES WERE ALL FINE. THEN I STARTED TO HEAR THE WIND AS IF A WINDOW BROKE. I ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION TO FIND OUT THAT MY SUNROOF HAD EXPLODED. IF THE INSIDE SCREEN WASN'T SHUT (ITS NORMALLY OPEN) I WOULD HAVE BEEN COMPLETELY COVERED IN GLASS! THE FOLLOWING DAY I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP (WHERE I BOUGHT IT & ALL SERVICING IS DONE). I WAS NOT PLEASED WITH THE LACK OF SERVICE THAT I RECEIVED. THE SERVICE MAN TRIED TO TELL ME THAT A ROCK MUST HAVE HIT IT AND IT IS ALSO NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. SO I HAD TO SUBMIT AN INSURANCE CLAIM, WAIT FOR A CALL FROM THE ADJUSTER, MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE ADJUSTER, HAVE THE PARTS ORDERED AND WAIT FOR IT TO BE COMPLETE.
MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS A LITTLE OVER 91,000 MILES ON IT. HOWEVER, FOR THE LAST 45,000 MILES, I HAVE NOTICED A JERKING IN THE TRANSMISSION ONCE I REACH ABOVE 40MPH. MY MOTHER HAS A 2017 FORD EXPLORER AND HAD THE SAME ISSUES. SHE HAD THE EXTENDED WARRANTY SO SHE WAS ABLE TO HAVE HERS FIXED BUT HAD TO PAY A DEDUCTIBLE. THIS SHOULD NOT BE A WARRANTY FIX... THIS SHOULD BE A MANUFACTURER FIX AND RECALL. MY MOM WAS TOLD BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP THAT FIXED HER CAR THAT THERE WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS PROBLEM WITH DEALING WITH THE TRANSMISSION. SHE WAS ALSO TOLD THAT IF THE ISSUE IS NOT FIXED ON YOUR VEHICLE, IT COULD CAUSE THE TRANSMISSION TO GO OUT AT ANY TIME . THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN,. I HAVE 4 CHILDREN IN MY VEHICLE AT ALL TIMES, TWO OF THEM BEING UNDER THE AGE OF 3. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE IN MY VEHICLE AND DO NOT FEEL THAT FORD IS DOING THEIR JOB TO ENSURE THAT RECALLS ARE BEING DONE PROPERLY. I SAW 7 RECALLS FOR FORD EXPLORES FOR YEAR 2016 BUT WHEN I SEARCHED MY VIN... NOTHING CAME UP... WHY IS THAT?
