THE FRONT COIL SPRINGS ARE WEAK AND ARE LETTING THE FRONT END DOWN WHICH CAUSES THE WHEELS TO SPREAD, MAKING THE VEHICLE PULL TO THE LEFT. DEALER SAYS VEHICLE NEEDS NEW SET OF SPRINGS SINCE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *AK
WHEN APPLYING PRESSURE TO GAS PEDAL VEHICLE HESITATES THEN TAKES OFF SUDDENLY AT A HIGH SPEED. DEALER HAS TRIED TO SOLVE PROBLEM 3 TIMES WITH NO SOLUTION. *AK
WHEN TRYING TO OPEN THE DOOR THE FROM THE INSIDE IT WON'T COME OPEN. ALSO, THE HANDLE BROKE OFF. MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE. *AK
THE KEY CAN BE TAKEN OUT OF THE IGNITION SWITCH WHILE THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING. DEALER HAS NOT SEEN VEHICLE. *AK
THE RIGHT RADIAL ARM BUSHING DISINTEGRATED TWICE. THIS CAUSED SIGNIFICANT STEERING AND CONTROL PROBLEMS, BUT NO COLLISION. APPARENTLY, THE BUSING ON THE RIGHT WAS NOT DESIGNED TO WITHSTAND THE HEAT OF THE NEARBY EXHAUST SYSTEM.
CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN A 35 MPH FRONTAL COLLISION IN WHICH THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY MALFUNCTIONED DUE TO A CHECK VALVE WHICH CAUSED THE FIRST FUEL TANK TO GO INTO THE SECOND FUEL TANK, RESULTING IN FUEL SPILLAGE. MAY CAUSE A FIRE IF THERE IS A SOURCE OF IGNITION. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION AND VIN#. *AK
TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL CAUSES THE CLOCK SPRING WIRING TO BREAK, WHICH IN TURN CAUSES THE HORN/CRUISE CONTROL AND THE AIR BAG SYSTEM NOT TO WORK. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED TO FORD. THIS PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED. *ML

ABS BRAKE SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING. *AK
MY SON'S FATHER WAS KILLED IN AN ACCIDENT ON MARCH 2, 1995. I WOULD LIKE TO FIND ANY INFORMATION ON THIS VEHILE THAT WOULD HELP ME IN UNDERSTANDING WHY THIS ACCIDENT HAPPENED. THERE WERE NO SKID MARKS, NO SIGNS OF BRAKING AND NO SIGNS THAT SPEED WAS A FACTOR IN THE ACCIDENT. I WOULD LIKE TO FIND OUT IF THERE HAVE BEEN ANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE THAT COULD ASSIST ME.
THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT HOLD UP AND GOES OUT WITHOUT WARNING. THE GEAR SHIFT WILL NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR. THE OWNER HAS REPLACED TRANSMISSION FIVE TIMES. *AK

AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT WILL COME ON AND FLASH INTERMITTENTLY, INDICTATING A DEFECT. AFTER VEHICLE IS FULLY WARMED UP, THE WARNING LIGHT WILL FLASH TWICE, STAY OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE SECOND AND THEN FLASH THREE TIMES. THIS SEQUENCE IS REPEATED UNTIL THE VEHICLE IS SHUT DOWN. CONSUMER HAS DUAL FUEL TANKS, AND NOTICED A FUEL LEAKAGE IN THE FRONTAL TANK, CAUSING A FIRE HAZARD. CONSUMER HAS YET TO CONTACT THE DEALER TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE LEAK. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
FUEL PUMP WENT OUT WHILE STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND FORD DID NOT COVER IT. I HEARD THEY HAD A RECALL ON THIS AND CANNOT FIND ANY INFORMATION ON IT. FUEL PUMP SHOULD NOT HAVE GONE OUT SO EARLY. *AK
VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE AFTER HITTING BUMPS WHILE TRAVELING 35-40MPH. STEERING WHEEL ALMOST JERKED OUT OF DRIVER'S HAND. VEHICLE WAS CHECKED BY FRONT END SPECIALIST. PROBLEM WAS CAUSING WEAR ON TIRES. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT LOCATE CAUSE OF SHAKING WHICH WAS GETTING WORSE. THE PROBLEM WAS INTERMITTENT. REPLACED THE SHOCKS AND RADIUS ARM BUSHINGS. PROBLEM NOT SOLVED. *AK
ALL OF INTERMITTENT WINDSHIELD WIPER SETTINGS DO NOT WORK ALL OF THE TIME. ADDITIONALLY, SOMETIMES I MUST "JIGGLE" THE TURN SIGNAL ASSEMBLY TO ACCTIVATE THE HEADLIGHTS. MORE THAN ONCE I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR AN UNDETERMINED AMOUNT OF TIME BEFORE I REALIZE MY HEADLIGHTS ARE NOT WORKING. I HAVE HAD THIS PART REPLACED BEFORE FOR HE SAME PROBLEMS. MY WIFE OWNS A '98 FORD EXPLORER, SAME PROBLEM. A FRIEND OWNS A '98 FORD TAURUS, SAME PROBLEM. IS THIS A SAFETY RELATED ITEM THAT THE MANUFACTURER MUST KEEP REPLACING FREE OF CHARGE? *AK

AFTER FUELING THE GAS TANKS (FRONT AND REAR) PRESSURE BUILDS UP IN THE TANKS AND FUEL IS PUSHED UP AND AROUND THE CAPS, CAPS HAVE BEEN REPLACED HOWEVER CONTINUES TO EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS, POSSIBLY THE CHECK VALVE. *MJS

I DID NOT KNOW WHO ELSE TO REPORT MY CONCERNS ABOUT THE TIRES ON MY TRUCK SO I AM HOPING I AM NOT WASTING YOUR TIME BY FILLING THIS OUT. WHEN I TOOK MY TRUCH IN TO FIRESTONE TO HAVE MY TIRES INSPECTED THEY SAID THEY PASSED INSPECTION, OR IN THEIR WORDS "THEY COULD VISIBLY SEE NOTHING WRONG WITH THEM" BUT THEY WOULD NOT GIVE IT TO ME IN WRITING. AFTER I GOT HOME AND LOOKED AT THE FORM THEY HAD FILLED OUT, IT STATED THAT I HAD "REQUESTED NO INSPECTION - MISCELLANEOUS CHECK". WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? AFTER SEEING A CLOSEUP OF A FIRESTONE WILDERNESS AT TIRE FROM A WRECK ON THE CBS NEWS I NOTICED THAT THE TIRE LOOKED WORN JUST LIKE MY TIRES ARE WEARING. MY TIRES ARE ONLY 2 YRS OLD, I REPLACED MY ORIGINAL TIRES WITH THE FIRESTONE WILDERNESS AT IN JULY 1998. CONSUMER FEELS LEAF SPRINGS ARE MADE OF LOWER GRADE METAL WITH FAULTY RETAINER CLIPS, CAUSING THE LEAVES IN THE SPRINGS TO SEPARATE, SHIFT, AND BREAK, CONSUMER RECENTLY HAD LEAF SPRINGS REPLACED IN HER VEHICLE. *SLC

TORQUE CONVERTER IN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WITH OVERDRIVE IS FAULTY WHICH CAUSES DAMAGE TO TRANSMISSION. FORD HAS UPGRADED PART, BUT CONSUMER IS HAVING TO COVER THE CHARGES. *AK
AFTER 15 MINUTES WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED ENGINE WAS ON FIRE, FIRE DEPARTMENT PUT FIRE OUT.*AK CONSUMER STATES THAT WHILE DRIVING UP A STEEP HILL FOR ABOUT 4 MILES, A PUFF OF SMOKE CAME FROM UNDER THE HOOD, CONSUMER THINKS THAT TRANSMISSION FLUID CAME OUT OF THE FILLER TUBE ONTO THE HOT EXHAUST PIPE, CONSUMER ONCE FOUND THE DIPSTICK NOT FULLY INSERTED. *SLC

SINCE THE LAST TIME I FILLED OUT A FORM ON THESE TIRES I NOW HAVE 2 OUT OF 4 TIRES WITH CRACKS AND SPLITS ON THE SIDEWALLS. I AM HOPING THAT THIS WILL HELP IN THE CASE TO FORCE A FULL BLOWN RECALL ON ALL OF THESE TIRES. THE SUMMER MONTHS ARE RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER AND IT HAS ALREADY BEEN HOT IN MY AREA.
