TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 1995 FORD F150 XLT. THE CONTACT STATED HE NOTICED THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING BRAKE FLUID AND THE BRAKES WOULD FALL FARTHER INTO THE FLOORBOARD THAN USUAL WHEN DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT HAD RECEIVED PRIOR NOTICE OF NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V388000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THERE WERE NO FAILURES UNTIL THE RECALL REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
ABS LIGHT WAS BLINKING;TRUCK WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK;NO HAZARD LIGHTS;AND NO BRAKE LIGHTS. MECHANIC FOUND THE SPEED CONTROL SWITCH IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT MELTED WHICH ALSO MELTED PART OF THE BRAKE RESERVOIR CONTAINER.[1995 F150]*JB
DRIVING DOWN ROAD WHEN TRUCK CAUGHT ON FIRE UNDERNEATH HOOD. WHILE TRYING TO PUT OUT FIRE, I SUFFERED A BURN ON MY LEFT ARM AND ON A FINGER. I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF TRYING TO HAVE MY TRUCK REPAIRED WHEN I WAS TOLD BY THE MECHANIC THAT HE THOUGHT THAT THERE WAS A RECALL AND TO LOOK INTO IT FURTHER. I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR MY TRUCK TO BE REPAIRED AND BECAUSE IT IS MY WORK TRUCK AND I AM SELF-EMPLOYED, I HAVE LOST WAGES. *NM
DT: CONTACT STATES ON 6-15-05 HER HUSBAND WAS DRIVING 1995 FORD F150. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO LEAVE THE PARKING LOT COULD NOT GET TRUCK OUT OF PARK. HE SHUT THE CAR OFF, PUT IT IN NEUTRAL, AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR. LATER THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND BLINKED 15 TIMES. WHEN HE GOT HOME REALIZED DID NOT HAVE ANY BRAKE LIGHTS. DROVE ANOTHER VEHICLE TO WORK THE NEXT DAY AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP, AND HE SAID IT SOUNDED LIKE A BAD FUSE. SUNDAY MORNING HE WENT TO CHANGE THE FUSE, AND AS HE WAS INSTALLING A FUSE, HE HEARD A HISSING NOISE AND A SMOKE CAME OUT FROM THE HOOD. HE RAISED THE HOOD AND NOTICED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH WAS COMPLETELY CHARRED. CONSUMER DISCONNECTED THE SWITCH BECAUSE HE HAD SEEN IT DONE ON THE OTHER 2000 F150 THEY OWNED, AND HE WAS AFRAID OF A FIRE COULD START. IMMEDIATELY CALLED FORD, AND THEY DID NOT ANSWER. SHE CALLED AGAIN AND SHE TOLD FORD SHE WAS RECORDING THEM. THEY REFUSED TO GIVE HER THE NHTSA PHONE NUMBER. THEY SAID THEIR COMPUTER WAS DOWN AND THEY COULD NOT PROVIDE ANY INFORMATION. SHE CALLED BACK LATER, AND WAS TOLD THEM THE SAME THING. THEY SAID THEY STILL HAVE THE TRUCK, AND NHTSA WAS WELCOME TO COME AND CHECK IT. *AK
THE FIRE STSRTED IN THE FORD F150 AFTER WE HAD GONE TO BED AND ABOUT 3 HOURS AFTER PARKING THE TRUCK, IN THE DRIVE IN FRONT OF A GARAGE DOOR. THE FIRE TOTALED MY "BABY". AFTER SEEING THE NBC STORY ON FORDS I TRIED TO CONTACT FORD MOTOR CO. VAI E MAIL. O DATE NO RESPONSE.
CRUISE CONTROL THAT HAS BEEN CAUSING FIRES IS DOING THE SAME THING TO MY 1995 F-150. I WAS HAVING THE SENSOR REPLACED WHEN THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL SMOKED AND BURNED UP. IT HAD BRAKE FLUID IN IT JUST LIKE THE SENSOR DID. IT BLEW A FUSE AND ALSO SMOKED FROM THE CRUISE CONTROL AND THE ALSO NEAR THE INTAKE. THE SENSOR THAT IS ATTACHED TO THE MASTER CYLINDER HAD FAILED, BRAKE FLUID WAS INSDE IT AND CAUSE THE CONNECTOR THAT LEADS TO THE FUSE BOX TO CATCH ON FIRE, WE WERE REPLACING THAT WHEN THE CONNECTOR FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER TO THE CRUISE CONTROL UNIT SMOKED, BUT DID NOT CATCH ON FIRE. THE SENSOR ON THE MASTER CYLINDER CAUGHT ON FIRE ON 05-27-05.
DT: 1995 FORD F150, VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE PARKED. FIRE STARTED IN THE MASTER CYLINDER, AND THE CONSUMER HAD NO PREVIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. *AK
OUR 1995 FORD F-150 BURST INTO FLAMES IN OUR GARAGE AFTER BEING PARKED AND NOT RUNNING FOR ONE HOUR. IT WAS FINE JUST TEN MINUTES BEFORE THE FIRE STARTED. THE FIRE IN THE GARAGE CAUGHT THE ENTIRE HOUSE ON FIRE - WE LOST EVERYTHING, ALTHOUGH NO PERSONAL INJURY. STATE FARM FORENSIC REPORT SHOWS ORIGIN TO BE DRIVER SIDE, ON THE ENGINE SIDE OF THE FIRE WALL, AND HAVING SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE BRAKE MECHANISM (I'M STILL WAITING FOR A COPY OF THE REPORT). CAN YOU COMPARE MY COMPLAINT TO OTHERS AND MAYBE TELL ME WHAT MIGHT HAVE STARTED THIS FIRE? WE HAVE SUFFERED A TERRIBLE LOSS, SO WE WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT STARTED THE FIRE IF POSSIBLE. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE BRAKE LINES RUSTED. THIS DEFECT OCCURRED ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE REPAIRS COULD BE DONE BUT ONLY AT CONSUMER'S EXPENSE. CURRENTLY, THERE WERE NO EOM BRAKE LINES AVAILABLE. ALSO, THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 25,000 MILES, AND 3 BRAKE LINES WERE REPLACED 3 TIMES. *AK (DUAL MASTER CYLINDER FAILURE) THE CONSUMER LOST ALL BRAKES, FRONT AND REAR. THE WARNING LIGHT DID NOT ILLUMINATE. AT 22K MILES, THE REAR BRAKE LINE FAILED ALONG WITH THE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE LIGHT DID NOT ILLUMINATE. AT 25K MILES, THE OTHER FRONT BRAKE LINE FAILED ALONG WITH THE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE LIGHT DID NOT ILLUMINATE. *SC *JB
THE BRAKE LINES HAVE RUSRED AND BROCKEN . THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPEND I REPLACED THE FRONT LINES. THAT WAS AROUND 5-1-2003. THEN ON 8-19-2003 . I WAS DRIVEING TO WORK I PRIST THE PEDAL TO STOP AND THE PEDAL WENT DOWN PART WAY .THEN IT WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN. SO PULLED OVER .AND FOUND NO BRACK FLUID IN THE MASTER CYLINDER.CHECKA LITTLE MORE AND FOUND THE BRAKE LINE GOING FROMTHE FRONT TO THE BACK HAD RUSTED AND BROKEN JUST IN FRONT OF THE LEFT TIRE NEXT TO THE FRAME.*AK
ABS SYSTEM IS DEFECTIVE, AND DUE TO ABS SYSTEM ODOMETER OR SPEEDOMETER WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY ONLY WAY TO DRIVE VEHICLE IS TO DISCONNECT ABS. BUT, THEN EVERYTHING ELSE WILL NOT WORK. *AK
AIR BAG SHOULD DEPLOY WHERE SPEED IS IN EXCESS OF 10MPH AND SEAT BELTS ARE USED AND BRAKES SHOULD NOT LOCK WHERE ABS IS EMPLOYED
UPON SEPARATION OF THE LEFT FRONT FLEXIBLE BRAKE LINE, A COMPLETE AND INSTANTANEOUS BRAKE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE SECONDARY BRAKE SYSTEM (REAR ABS DRUM BRAKES) WAS INEFFECTIVE EVEN THOUGH THE REAR HALF OF THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR WAS PROPERLY SERVICED. NO BRAKE WARNING LIGHT HAD ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE PRIMARY BRAKE FAILURE TO INDICATE ANY PROBLEM EXISTED WITH THE SECONDARY (REAR) BRAKES. HOW CAN A MODERN DUAL BRAKE SYSTEM FAIL COMPLETELY WITH NO PRIOR INDICATION OF PROBLEMS. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FLEXIBLE BRAKE LINE AND STATED "IT WORKS FINE" BUT NO BRAKE WARNING SYSTEM COMPONENTS OR REAR BRAKE COMPONENTS WERE REPLACED.*AK
ABS BRAKE FAILURE. *AK
WHILE BACKING UP HIT THE BRAKES TO STOP AND THE BRAKE PADEL HAD NO PRESSURE, THREW SHIFTER INTO LOW AND HIT THE GAS TO AVOID GOING THROUGH THE GARAGE DOOR. THE BRAKE LINE RUSTED THRU, FLUID LEAKED OUT WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES CAUSING A LOSS OF PEDAL PRESSURE.
ORIGINAL BRAKES ON VEHICLE FAILED TO WORK AFTER BEING APPLIED. BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT WARNING. OWNER CHECKED BRAKES, AND NOTICED BRAKE PAD LINING HAD SEPARATED FROM METAL BACKING PLATE & HAD FALLEN OFF. BRAKE PADS STILL HAD 1/4IN OF PAD LEFT ON EACH BRAKE. BRAKE PISTON WENT OUT DUE TO NOTHING TO PUSH AGAINST. ABS BRAKES ARE ON THE REAR BRAKES. *AK ALL FOUR FRONT BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED. UPON REMOVING THE RIGHT SIDE CALIPER, THE BRAKE LINING FELL OFF TOO. *YH
THIS TIRE WAS ROTATED FROM LEFT FRONT TO LEFT REAR TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO TREAD SEPARATION. WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEED (15-25 MPH) ON THE DAY OF INCIDENT WE COULD FEEL A WOBBLE IN THE VEHICLE BUT DID NOT CONNECT IT TO ANY TIRE PROBLEMS. AFTER DRIVING 150 MILES OF A 600 MILE TRIP A LOUD POP WAS HEARD WE DETERMINED THAT THE TIRE HAD BLOWN. MY PREGNANT WIFE APPLIED THE BRAKES AND PULLED THE VEHILCLE OFF THE ROAD ONTO THE RIGHT HAND SHOULDER OF I-35 JUST SOUTH OF DALLAS. THE TREAD HAD SEPARATED AND DID DAMAGE TO THE LEFT REAR QUARTER PANEL, AND FUEL FILLER NECK OF THE REAR TANK. I TOOK VIDEO TAPE (AVAILABLE TO YOU) OF THE INCIDENT. WE REPLACED THE BLOWN TIRE WITH THE SPARE, CONTINUED TO LITTLE ROCK, AR WHERE WE PURCHASED AN IDENTICAL TIRE AND REPLACE IT IN THE LEFT REAR POSITION. UNITED SERVICES AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION (USAA) PAID FOR A CLAIM THAT WE SUBMITTED. WE EXPERIENCED A SIDE WALL FAILURE ON THE RIGHT FRONT ONE YEAR EARLIER ON MEMORIAL DAY TRAVELING FROM OKLAHOMA TO ARKANSAS.*AK (TIRESIZE: 235/75R15)( DOT NUMBER: TIRE SIZE: 235/75R15 )

CONSUMER STATES: CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH HAD TO BE REPLACE TWICE DUE TO THE BRAKE FLUID LEAKING THROUGH TO THE SWITCH. *NM
REAR ANTI-LOCK BRAKES LOCK UP CAUSING SKIDDING AND LOSS OF CONTROL, WHEN HUMID OR RAIN CONDITIONS EXIST. THIS HAS OCCURED SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NEW. THE DEALER TOLD ME THIS WAS NORMAL, AND TO DRAG THE BRAKE PEDAL TO CAUSE FRICTION AND DRY OUT THE DRUMS. NOW THAT THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY, THE DEALER NOW SAYS THAT IT IS CAUSED BY A FAILED SENSOR, REQUIRING $288.00 IN REPAIRS.
