EXHIBIT CRACKS IN THE DOOR SHEET METAL AT THE LOWER REAR OF THE BELT MOLDING. *AK
THE SIGNAL MIRRORS ON MY TRUCK HAVE BEEN DEVELOPING DARK SPOTS MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO SEE. IT APPEARS TO BE A DEFECT IN THE REFLECTIVE SURFACES. *LA
THERE IS A CRACK ON BOTH DOORS ON MY FORD F-150, BY THE WINDOW. THIS LOOKS LIKE A STRESS CRACK AND NOT WEAR AND TEAR. *LA
WHEN IT WAS BELOW FREEZING VEHICLE REVVED UP TO 6000 RPM. VEHICLE HAD BEEN TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES. DEALER CHANGED THE THROTTLE BODY, IDLE CONTROL VALVE, AND THE THROTTLE CABLE. *AK DEALER ALSO DISCONNECTED THE CRUISE CONTROL AND CONSUMER HASN'T EXPERIENCED SURGING ON THE VEHICLE. *LA
WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH PLUG BLEW OUT OF THE CYLINDER, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LOSE POWER. *AK
MY 1999 F-150 5.4 LTR 4WD STARTED MAKING LOUD TICKING NOISE @ 39,000 MILES.TOOK TRUCK TO BURCH FORD FROM WHOM I PURCHASED VEHICLE & THEY DIAGNOSED TICKING NOISE AS A BAD CAT. CVRTR!!! THEY ALSO ADVISED ME OF LEAKING HEAD GASKET FROM (R)REAR HEAD AND A REPAIR COST OF $3,200 W/ (12 MO./12,OOO MI.WARRANTY !!! )ON REPAIR.WHEN I PICKED UP VEHICLE & STARTED ENGINE,THE SAME LOUD TICKING NOISE (ONLY WORSE) WAS STILL THERE!!! BURCH FORD & FORD MOTOR CORP REFUSED TO EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE PROBLEM OR WARRANTY THEIR REPAIR.WHILE TRYING TO GET ASSISTANCE, I DROVE VEHICLE BARE MIN AND APROX. 300 MILES AFTER THE "REPAIR",THE ENGINE BLEW # 3 SPARK PLUG OUT OF (R) HEAD LIKE LIKE A ROCKET & MASSIVE LOSS OF POWER WHICH NEARLY LEFT ME IN DIRECT PATH OF A LOADED SEMI TRUCK !!!(THOUGHT I WAS GOING BE CRUSHED TO DEATH).I HAD TRUCK TOWED BACK TO BURCH FORD & THEY FAXED ME A ESTIMATE OF $3,200. MORE TO REPLACE HEAD (NOW TOTAL IS $ 6,400. FROM THE TWO REPAIRS!!!) AND IN BOLD PRINT @ BOTTOM OF EST. SAY'S ....NO WARRANTY!!! I HAD A SPARK PLUG BLOW OUT OF THE HEAD ON MY TRUCK. IT IS A 1999 FORD F-150, WITH A 5.4 LITER TRITON V-8 ENGINE. I HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS, UNTIL THE MECHANIC AT MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP SAID THEY HAD SEEN IT BEFORE. ALSO AT AN EARLIER DATE THE SHEET METAL ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR ABOUT THREE INCHES FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDOW CRACKED. ITS HAS CRACKED TWO MORE TIMES SINCE THEN. THEY (FORD MOTOR CO.) FINALLY PUT A NEW DOOR SKIN ON, BUT A MAN WHO I KNOW THAT RUNS A BODY SHOP SAID IT'S IN THE DOOR ITSELF AND THAT A SKIN WOULDN'T PREVENT IT FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. I'M JUST VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE PRODUCTS THAT ARE ON THE MARKET ANYMORE THEY LACK QUALITY AND THEY DON'T LAST FOR NEAR AS LONG AS THEY SHOULD. *LA
DOORS ARE CRACKING APPROXIMATELY 4 1/2 INCH FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDOW WHERE THE DOOR HANDLES ARE LOCATED. VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. MANUFACTURER IS AWARE THE PROBLEM, AND A REPAIR KIT IS AVAILABLE. THE COST OF THE KIT IS $600.00 PER DOOR.*AK *MR
SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT OF HEAD, STRIPPING THREADS FROM HEAD. THIS IS THE SECOND ONE FOR THIS VEHICLE. THE FIRST WAS IN JUNE OF 2002.*AK
RIGHT SIDE HEAD GASKET ON 5.4 V8 LEAKING AGAIN AT 72,000 MILES. HEADS REPLACED ONCE AND GASKETS REPLACED TWICE. OUT OF WARRANTY NOW. WE NEED A RECALL. OIL DRIPS ON HOT EXHAUST AND SMOKES, FIRE HAZARD. *AK
MAJOR WATER LEAK AROUND REAR WINDOW. ALMOST EVERYONE YOU TALK TO WITH THIS TRUCK STYLE (OVER SEVERAL MODEL YEARS) HAS THIS PROBLEM. FORD HAS KNOWN FOR YEARS ABOUT IT. WHY ARE THEY NOT REQUIRED TO FIX IT?*AK
I OWN A 1999 F150 WITH A 5.4 LITER MOTOR THAT HAS A DESIGN FLAW (ALSO AFFECTS THAT ZTEC AND 4.6L, 5.4L V8 AND ALSO THEIR BIG V10 MOTORS): THIS IS THE 2ND TIME MY SPARKPLUG HAS BLOWN OUT THE TOP OF MY ENGINE AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. IT HAPPENS UNEXPECTEDLY UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. AS I SEARCH GOOGLE, YAHOO AND OTHER WEB FORMS I SEE 1,000'S OF OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE AND FORD WILL NOT FESS UP. IT'S SO BAD THAT THERE IS EVEN A COMPANY THAT MAKE S A KIT TO FIX THE HOLE WHERE THE SPARG PLUG ONCE WAS TO SAVE YOU FROM HAVING TO BUY A NEW HEAD. IF YOU GO TO THE DEALER TO FIX THIS AND IT WILL COST YOU $2000-$3000. FORD NEED TO RECALL THIS BEFORE SOME ONE GETS HURT OR KILLED DUE TO THE UNEXPECTED POWER LOSS. *AK
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH. UPON IMPACT, NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. DRIVER SUSTAINED THROAT AND HIP INJURIES WHEN HITTING THE STEERING WHEEL. ALSO, PASSENGER'S HEAD HIT THE DASHBOARD AND SUSTAINED A KNOT. *AK
ON 12/17/03 WHILE BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY TO GO TO WORK, THE LEFT FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT FAILED ON MY 1999 FORD F-150 4 WHEEL DRIVE PICKUP. THIS CAUSED THE WHEEL TO ANGLE OUT AT A 45 DEGREE ANGLE AND LOWER "A" FRAME TO COME IN CONTACT WITH THE ROAD. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 69,100 MILES ON IT, IS ONLY USED FOR PERSONAL TRANSPORTATION (NO SNOW PLOWING OR BUSINESS USE) AND HAS HAD ALL SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE PERFORMED. VEHICLE UP TO THAT POINT HAD DISPLAYED NO DRIVING ERRATICS THAT MIGHT INDICATE A PROBLEM. SERVICE MANAGER INDICATED THAT THIS A NORMAL PROBLEM THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN CAUGHT DURING NORMAL MAINTENANCE (MY ORIGINAL DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE HAS SOLD THE DEALERSHIP) AND NOT COVERED BY ANY WARRENTY OR RECALL. FORD CONSUMER REP AGREED. NOT ONLY IS IT GOING TO COST ME OVER $1,000.00 TO HAVE MY VEHICLE REPAIRED, I WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT ALTHOUGH FORD IS COMING OUT WITH BALL JOINTS THAT WILL HAVE A GREASE FITTINGS, THEY WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL ALL INVENTORY OF NON-GREASE FITTING BALL JOINTS ARE USED UP. ABOVE AND BEYOND MY DISSAPOINTMENT WITH FORD AND FORD PRODUCTS IS THE CONSTANT THOUGHT OF WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED IF I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MILES AN HOUR AND THIS BALL JOINT FAILED AND HOW MANY OTHER FORD F-150 OWNERS ARE OUT THERE WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM WAITING TO HAPPEN!!!!*AK
*AKI WAS DRIVING MY 1999 FORD F-150 WITH 5.4 LITER V-8 ENGINE WHEN I EXPERIENCED A BLOWN #3 SPARK PLUG DRIVING UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS ON MY WAY TO A SOCCER GAME. EXTENDED WARRANTY COMPANY WOULD NOT COVER PROBLEM. GOT IT FIXED WITH A HELICOIL FOR $400 AND SAME #3 PLUG BLEW 4 MONTHS LATER. GOT IT FIXED WITH A NEW HEAD UNIT FOR $2500. NOW I WANT FORD TO REIMBURSE ME FOR FLAWED ENGINE DESIGN.
VEHICLE HAD BEEN PARKED FOR 10 MINUTES WHEN THE CONSUMER STARTED TO SMELL SMOKE. CONSUMER NOTICED THAT VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. CONTACTED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT, WHO RESPONDED TO PUT THE FIRE OUT. VEHICLE AS TOTALED. PLEASE BE ADVISED THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE CRUISE CONTROL.*AK
SEAL AROUND REAR WINDOW LEAKS AT THE CORNERS. IT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE IT WAS INSTALLED CORRECTLY. WINDSHIELD WIPERS TURN ON WHEN THE SWITCH IS IN THE OFF POSITION. IT IS INTERMITTENT AND THERE IS NOT PATTERN AS TO WHEN THE WIPERS WILL TURN ON.*AK
FORD F-150 XLT 57,000 MILES - SPARK PLUGS STRIPPED, AND DESTROY SPARK PLUG. NOTICED HISSING SOUND FROM UNDER HOOD WHEN ENGINE WAS JUST TURNED OFF. TICKING SOUND WHEN FIRST STARTING ENGINE. TOOK VEHICLE TO LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICING. NO WARRANTY SUPPORT. CLAIMS TO NEVER HEAR OF PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH F150-ONLINE FORUM HAS OVER 100 SUCH INCIDENTS REPORTED. *LA
THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ACTIVATE (TURN-ON) UNEXPECTEDLY WHEN DRIVING AND SWITCH IS IN THE OFF POSITION. DEALERSHIP SAYS THE CONTROL MODULE IS "DEFECTIVE" BUT WILL NOT WARRANTY THE REPAIR SINCE THERE IS NO RECALL. IT IS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE AS THE DISTRACTION COULD ARISE AT ANYTIME WHILE DRIVING. TS
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AT 30 MPH, THERE WAS A LOUD RATTLING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE. WHEN THE SPARK PLUGS WERE REMOVED FROM THE ENGINE, THEY WERE COVERED WITH ANTI FREEZE. ENGINE HEAD GASKETS WERE LEAKING. FORD HAS A CURRENT TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN CONCERNING THIS ENGINE PROBLEM. *NLM
I HAVE A F-150 PICK-UP STILL BEING PAID OFF AND IT IS LEAKING FOR THE RIGHT HAND SIDE. THERE ARE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS FOR THIS BUT IT WILL COST A COUPLE OF THOUSAND TO REPLACE THE HEAD. IF FORD KNOWS ABOUT THIS AND I HAVE LOOKED ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND OTHERS HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS, WHY HASN'T A RECALL BEEN ISSUED. *LA
I HAVE A 99 FORD F150 WITH A HEAD GASKET PROBLEM. THE LEFT HEAD WAS REPLACED WITH 3000 MILES ON THE TRUCK BECAUSE OF THE SAME LEAK. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT FORD HAD SOME BAD MILLWORK ON THE HEADS AND THEY COULDN'T GET A GOOD SEAL. NOW WITH 73000 THE HEADS ARE STARTING TO SEEP AGAIN. ALSO MY TRUCK HAS A CRACK IN THE DOOR METAL NEAR THE CORNER OF THE WINDOW OF THE DRIVERS SIDE. HERE AGAIN IT SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM FOUND IN MANY F150'S FROM 97 THROUGH 01. *LA
OUTSIDE MIRRORS ARE TURNING BLACK AT THE MIRROR ITSELF (BACKING COMING OFF?). *LA
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS ALL EXTERNAL AND INTERNAL LIGHTS WOULD CUT OFF FOR A FRACTION OF A SECOND AND THEN LIGHT BACK UP. EACH TIME THEY WENT OUT ONCE AND SO FAST THAT IT WAS BARELY NOTICED. THE NUMBER OF THESE INCIDENTS ARE UNKNOWN. I WOULD SAY FEWER THAN 10. THE FIRST DEALERSHIP IT WAS REPORTED TO WAS CRESCENT FORD IN HIGH POINT, NC. AT THE TIME, THEY DID NOT RECORD THE ISSUE AS BEING REPORTED AND DID NOT ADVISE ME THAT IT SHOULD BE CHECKED. THE PROBLEM WAS HAPPENING SO INFREQUENTLY THAT I DID NOT REALIZE IT MIGHT BE A SERIOUS PROBLEM. IN THE LATER PART OF 2003, OCTOBER I BELIEVE, I STOPPED AT A LOCAL TIRE DISTRIBUTOR TO HAVE MY TIRES BALANCED AND ROTATED. I NOTICED FROM INSIDE THE STORE THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WERE NOT OFF. I RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE TO ATTEMPT TO TURN THEM OFF BY MANIPULATING THE LIGHT SWITCH AND IGNITION SWITCH WITH NO SUCCESS. I HAD THE WORK DONE AT THE TIRE STORE AND TOOK THE TRUCK STAIGHT TO BOB DUNN FORD IN GREENSBORO WHERE THEY ADVISED ME THAT THE FUSE BOX HAD TO BE REWIRED AND THAT IT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN SHOWED ME A FUSE THAT HAD BEEN REMOVED FROM THE FUSE BOX. THE FUSE WAS BLACK, MELTED AND THE ELEMENT IN THE FUSE WAS NOT BURNED THROUGH. THE COVER TO THE FUSE BOX HAD A WHITE SPOT ON IT WHERE THE PLASTIC WAS HEATED AND CHARRED. THE DEALERSHIP PROVIDED ME WITH A VEHICLE TO DRIVE AND MY TRUCK WAS REPAIRED BUT AT MY EXPENSE. I HAD APPLIED TO BE REIMBURSED BY FORD BUT HAVE NEVER HEARD ANY RESPONSE DISPITE MULTIPLE CALLS TO THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER HAVING LEARNED OF THE RECALL FOR FIRES IN PARKED F150'S I DECIDED THIS SHOULD BE REPORTED. DATES PROVIDED ARE ESTIMATES. I WOULD HAVE TO HAVE THE DEALERSHIP RECORDS PULLED TO FIND EXACT DATES AND MILEAGE. THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE WAS APPROXIMATELY 28,000 MILES BUT IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AS IT WAS OLDER THAN 3 YEARS.
DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT, COMES ON/STAYS ON/THEN SOMETIMES GOES OFF. FORD DEALER SAYS AIRBAG WILL PROBABLY NOT WORK IN CRASH / NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. CHECKED BY TOWER FORD TWICE IN ONE WEEK. RESET LIGHT=$52.00, SECOND TIME FORD DEALER WANTS TO REPLACE AIR BAG MODULE @ $195.00. ONLY 33,298 MILES. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY A SPARK PLUG EJECTED FROM THE RIGHT SIDE CYLINDER HEAD OF MY 1999 FORD F150 TRITON V8 TRUCK AT 56,978 MILES. CYLINDER HEAD WAS REPLACED AT FORD DEALERSHIP AT A TOTAL COST OF $2,418.93. I WAS NOTIFIED THIS WAS NOT COVERED BY THE MANUFACTURER. *JB

I HAVE A 1999 FORD F-150 THAT DEVELOPED A CRACK IN THE DOOR. *LA
MY 1999 F150 DOOR LOCKS HAVE BEEN REPLACED AT 25,000 AND 45,000 MILES. NOW THE DRIVERS SIDE POWER LOCK HAS FAILED AGAIN AT 79,000 MILES. THE LOCAL FORD DEALES STATES THIS IS NORMAL FOR A CAR MADE IN AMERICA.
MY TRUCK STARTED MAKING A NOISE AND SLOWLY GOT WORSE OVER ABOUT 6000 MILES. I BROUGHT IT INTO FORD AND THE SAID IT WAS PISTION SLAP OR A BAD BEARING. THEY TOLSD ME IT WOULDNT AFFECT THE PERFORMANCE OR THE TRUCK AND IT IS A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM. SO I TOLD THEM I WANTED TO TRADE IT IN AND THEY SAID THEY DIDNT WANT IT BECAUSE IT WAS MAKING NOISE. HELP!!!
6.8 LITRE V-10 ENGINE AND ONE SPARK PLUG FROM EACH CYLINDER HEAD CAME OUT. ONE CYL HEAD HAD THREADS DESTOYED THEREBY MAKING A REPLACEMENT NESSESARY AND THE OTHER ONE WAS SUSPECT. THE DEALER SUGGESTED A REBUILT ENGINE AS COSTS WOULD BE VERY CLOSE BETWEEN REPAIRS AND A GENUINE FORD REBUILT ENGINE AND IT WOULD COME WITH A WARRENTY. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT THE PLUGS CAME OUT BECAUSE THE CYL HEADS WERE A POOR DESIGN WITH ONLY 3/8" THREADS IN AN ALUMINUM CASTING AND I SHOULDN'T BE PAYING FOR POOR ENGINEERING AND DESIGNS. THERE HAS BEEN AN UPDATE IN 2001 THAT NOW HAS A CYL HEAD WITH 9/16" THREADS AND PLUGS TO SUIT. I WANT FORD TO INSTALL A NEW UPDATED ENGINE AT THEIR COST.

WHENEVER CONSUMER TURNED THE KEY TO START THE ENGINE, THERE WAS A LOUD RATTLING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE. SPARK PLUGS WERE REMOVED, THAT WERE COVERED WITH ANTI FREEZE. ENGINE HEAD GASKETS WERE LEAKING, AND THAT CAUSED THE ENGINE TO THROW A ROD. FORD HAS A CURRENT TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN CONCERNING THIS ENGINE PROBLEM.*AK
I HAVE A 1999 F150 LARIAT, 40,000 MILES, BOUGHT NEW, WITH ELECTRONIC SIDE MIRRORS WITH BUILT IN ARROW LIGHTS. THE SILVER BACKING ON BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT MIRRORS HAS DETERIORATED CAUSING THE MIRRORS TO BECOME OPAQUE. THIS IS BECOMING A SAFETY HAZARD, ESPECIALLY IN LOW LIGHT CONDITIONS.*AK

DOOR FRAME CRACK AROUND WINDOW ON 1999 FORD F-150 TRUCK. *AK
WHILE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AT 8 MPH THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED BACKWARDS UP TO 60 MPH. THE SHIFTER WAS MOVED DRIVE AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE FORWARD. THE BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT THE VEHICLE SLAMMED INTO AN EMBANKMENT. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE REPLACED THE MASS AIR GLOW SENSOR AND THROTTLE ASSEMBLY. *AK THE BED OF THE TRUCK WAS PUSHED OUTWARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. THE DEALER CLEANED AND LUBED THE LATCHES. THE PASSENGER SIDE STRIKER WAS SHIMMED AND ADJUSTED. *TS *NLM
WINDSHIELD WIPERS COME ON FOR NO APARANT REASON. MY BROTHER IN-LAW HAS THE VERY SAME PROBLEM WITH THE WINDSHEILD WIPER SWITCH IN 1998 FORD F150.*AK
TIE ROD END FAILURE WHEN TAKING LEFT HAND TURN AT LOW SPEED. VEHICLE ONLY HAD 44,000 ORIGINAL MILES! THE SPARK PLUG IN THE 3RD CYLINDER BACK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BLEW OUT OF THE ENGINE CAUSING 1800 DOLLARS DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT AND HAS HAPPENED TO SEVERAL FORD F150 OWNERS. IT IS THE CONSENSUS OF SEVERAL MECHANICS THAT THIS FAILURE IS RELATED TO THE DESIGN OF THE CYLINDER HEAD. THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR FIRE FROM THIS CAUSED BUY THE UNBURNT FUEL LEAVING THE CYLINDER AND BEING IGNITED BY THE EXPOSED SPARK PLUG.*AK
