WINDSHEILD WIPERS COME ON FOR NO APARANT REASON. THIS IS THE 5TH CONSECUTIVE FORD PRODUCT (1994-1999) I HAVE OWNED TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE WINDSHEILD WIPER SWITCH!*AK
VEHICLE SHUTDOWN WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING. THERE WAS A LOUD BANGING NOISE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD DEALERSHIP WA SAWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK
ACCORDING TO SERVICE MANAGER AT A ST. PAUL, MN FORD DEALER, FORD HAS HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THE 5.4 L ENGINES PASSENGER SIDE REAR CYLINDER SPARK PLUG MOUNT STRIPPING AND BLOWING THE SPARK PLUG OUT CAUSING ENGINE DAMAGE. I WAS TOLD THAT FORD HAS KEPT THIS QUIET BUT HAVE COVERED COSTS ON THIS UP TO 75,000 MILES. MY VEHICLE WAS SUBMITTED TO FORD BUT DENIED BEING OVER 75,000 MILES. COST TO FIX WAS OVER $1200.00 AND THIS ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX.
HEAD GASKET BLOWN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *PH (NAR) DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND REPAIRS WERE MADE UNTIL THE HEAD GASKET WAS BLOWN AGAIN. *CB
THE LATCH THAT HOLDS THE BACK SEAT DOWN UNLATCHES WHEN I TIGHTEN CARSEAT BELT TO SECURE IT SAFELY. *AK
THERE WAS NO WARING OR SOUNDS INDICATING A PROBLEM.A/C STARTED BLOWING HOT AIR, I PULLED OVER AND LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND FOUND THE COMPRESSOR ON FIRE.THIS COULD HAVE HAD A DEVISTATING ENDING HAD MY WIFE BEEN DRIVING BECAUSE SHE WOULD HAVE KEPT GOING.THIS IS VERY UPSETING TO THINK OF WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED. THIS COULD HAVE VERY EASILY ENDED MY FAMILY HAD THE TRUCK TOTALLY CAUGHT ON FIRE WITH MY WIFE DRIVING WITH OUR CHILDREN. *AK
DT: 1999 FORD F150. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT DOOR ON DRIVER'S SIDE CRACKED JUST ABOVE THE DOOR HANDLE. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER, THEY SAID THEY COULD GO 80%, THE CONSUMER COULD GO 20% ON THE BALANCE TO HAVE THE DOOR FIXED. THIS WOULD TAKE 3 TO 4 DAYS. DOOR WAS CRACKED BEFORE THE CONSUMER BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER STATED THIS WAS A STRUCTURAL DEFECT. DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS A KNOWN STRUCTURE DEFECT. THE CONSUMER WAS NOT SATISFIED.*AK
HEAD GASKET BLEW AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *PH AFTER SPENDING LUMP SUMS OF MONEY THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS AN DEFECT IN THE DECK SURFACE OF THE ENGINE BLOCK THAT ALLOWED OIL TO LEAK OUT OF THE ENGINE. THE CONDITION WAS NOT CAUSED BY THE HEAD GASKETS. DUE TO THE EXTENT OF DAMAGES TO THE ENGINE A NEW ONE HAD TO BE PURCHASED FOR OVER $5000.00. THE CONSUMER IS ASKING FORD TO HELP PAY FOR REPAIRS ON THE FAULTY AUTOMOBILE. *CB
THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SIDE EXTERIOR MIRRORS ARE LOSING THEIR REFLECTIVITY. THIS IS CLEARLY A FACTORY DEFECT AND PRESENTS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD TO THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE AND PASSENGERS OF THE VEHICLE. FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP HAVE BOTH REFUSED TO RECALL THE MIRRORS OR TO PROVIDE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO REPAIR THE MIRRORS. THE DEALERSHIP HAS ACKNOWLEDGE THE FACT THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THESE MIRRORS, BUT FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL ON THEM.
DEALER REPAIRED A FLAT AND PLACED THE SPARE TIRE UNDER THE BACK OF THE TRUCK ON THE SPARE TIRE RETAINER APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH AGO. TODAY, WHILE SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY, THE SPARE TIRE RETAINER CABLE SNAPPED AND THE SPARE TIRE FELL TO THE GROUND. HAD THIS OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY, AN ACCIDENT COULD HAVE RESULTED.*AK
TRUCK WAS BROUGHT IN FOR SCHEDULED SERVICE AND I WAS INFORMED A HEAD GASKET WAS LEAKING. THIS IS A VEHICLE THAT HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED. I DON'T BELIEVE THE ENGINE HAS EVER GONE OVER 3000 RPM, COST TO REPAIR $2,200. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. I WAS SHOCKED TO SEE HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE HAVE SUBMITTED COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO GET FORD TO TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM?*AK
DRIVERS SEAT BELT CAME OUT OF HOLDER IN A ROLL OVER ACCIDENT TRAVELING APPROX. 65 MPH. *AK
DRIVER'S SEAT FAILED TO HOLD UPON IMPACT, CAUSING INJURY TO DRIVER. MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK
HEAD GASKETS BLEWOUT. 2 SETS OF HEAD GASKETS BLEWOUT WITHIN LAST 6 MONTHS. ALSO WAS HAVING TROUBLE WITH TRANSMISSION. *AK
THIS CRASH CRUSHED THE BUMPER,GRILL RADIATOR, CROSS SUPPORTS AND THE 2 FENDERS. AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. *AK
LEFT FRONT RIM IS SHOWING SIGNS OF STRESS CRACKS ON THE INSIDE. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER LOOKED AT THE RIM AND STATED THERE WERE NO SIGNS OF POTHOLE OR CURB DAMAGE, HOWEVER THE MANUFACTURER STATED THERE MUST HAVE BEEN SOME TYPE OF DAMAGE WITHOUT EVEN SEEING THE RIM.*JB
WHILE LOOKING VEHICLE OVER, CONSUMER NOTICED CRACKS ON TOP OF DOOR FRAME BY WINDOW. DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. *AK CONSUMER STATES THAT DEALER WANTS $300 FOR REPAIR, THEY HAVE SPECIAL KIT FOR THIS REPAIR BECAUSE THEY KNOW THEY HAVE FAULTY DOORS. *YD
CONSUMER STATES THE VEHICLE WOULD PULL HARD TO THE LEFT WHEN BRAKE ARE APPLIED. MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. NLM
SINCE 74,000 MILES TWO FRONT TIE ROD ENDS HAVE FAILED WITHIN FIVE MONTHS. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
CONSUMER NOTICED A CRACK ON BOTH DOORS AT POST WHERE IT CURBED. CRACK HAD DEVELOPED ABOUT AN INCH LONG. DEALER WAS CONTACTED, AND COULD NOT PROVIDE ANY SOLUTION TO PROBLEM. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION. *AK
THIS VEHICLE HAS A A PROBLEM WITH DRIVESHAFT "RUN-UP" IT MAKES LOUD SOUND AND YOU CAN FEEL IT WHEN STOPPING OR ACELLERATING. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE DEALSHIP TWICE. THE DEALERSHIP COULD NOT DUPLICATE UNTIL I TOOK THEM FOR A TEST DRIVE. THE SHOP FOREMAN HEARD AND FELT THE DRIVESHAFT "RUN-UP" HE SAID THEY WOULD REPAIR IT. I WAS CONTACTED LATER AND THE SERVICE ADVISER SAID IT WAS A NORMAL SOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS THERE FOR TWO WEEKS.*AK
CRITICAL COMPONENT OF ANTI LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM FAILING AT LESS THAN 5000 MILES? FORD MOTOR TREATING AS NORMAL REPAIR ITEM AND EXPECTING CUSTOMER TO PAY HALF OF COST.*AK
THE CRANKSHAFT WENT OUT OF THE TRUCK AT 59K MILES. THAT SHOULD NOT HAPPEN. FORD IS UNCOOPERATIVE. *AK
LEAKING OIL FROM THE HEAD ON RIGHT SIDE. WELL KNOWN PROBLEM. RECALL NEEDS TO BE DONE. TO MANY PEOPLE ARE SPENDING TO MUCH MONEY FOR THESE PROBLEMS. I DONT WANT TO BE ANOTHER STATISTIC. *AK
I NOTICED THE SMELL OF HOT OR BURNING OIL EVERY TIME I STOP. I HAD A MECHANIC CHECK FOR THE PROBLEM. HE TOLD ME I HAD A LEAKING HEAD GASKET ON THE RIGHT REAR SIDE OF THE ENGINE. I FEEL IT COULD CAUSE A FIRE. NHTSA HAS BULTNS SB620275, SB612444, SB612291 HELP! FORD WON'T FIX WITHOUT GREAT COST. *AK
TWO REAR WHEEL BEARINGS CRACKED, AND IT BECAME VERY DIFFICULT FOR CONSUMER TO CONTROL VEHICLE. CONTACTED DEALER. *AK
HEAD GASKET IS LEAKING OIL FROM THE RIGHT SIDE MOTOR. CONTACTED DEALER. *AK *YH
DRIVERS DOOR HAS A CRACK IN THE SHEET METAL ABOUT THREE OR FOUR INCHCES ABOVE THE BELT MOULDING AT THE REAR CORNER OF THE GLASS. THE DEALER SO FAR HAS REF SED TO TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM AND AT FIRST COMPLETELY DENIED THAT THERE WAS EVEN A PROBLEM. CLEARLY THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM THAT THEY KNEW ABOUT AS THERE IS A TECNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN DATING 11/98. I HAVE A FRIEND WHO HAS A 1999 F-150 WITH BOTH DOORS CRACKED IN EXACTLY THE SAME PLACE. OBVIOUSLY MY DRIVERS DOOR IS THE ONLY ONE CRACKED ON MY TRUCK BECAUSE IT GETS THE MAJORITY OF USE. I FIND IT DESPICABLE THAT FORD WOULD CONTINUE TO MANUFACTURE THE SAME DEFECTIVE PRODUCT SINCE 1997 AND REFUSE TO FIX IT AS WELL AS DENIE KNOWLEDGE OF ANY PROBLEM. I HAVE SPOKEN TO NUMEROUS AUOTBODY PROFESSIONALS WHO ALL HAD KNOWLEDGE OF THIS PROBLEM. WHATS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE?*AK

CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS HIT ON THE LEFT SIDE BY ANOTHER VEHICLE, WHICH IMMEDIATELY CAUSED THE ENGINE TO CATCH ON FIRE, AND HOOD TO MELT. CONSUMER ANTICIPATED THAT THIS WAS A SIMILAR PROBLEM TO THE CURRENT INVESTIGATION EA 05-005 WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH THAT WAS CATCHING FIRE.*AK
SECOND TIME IN TO DEALER FOR THE SAME HEAD GASKET FAILURE, 1'ST AT 24,500 MI 2'ND AT 26700. DEALER IS TRYING TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM, BUT HOW MANY MORE TIMES MUST I TAKE IT BACK FOR A PROBLEM FORD IS AWARE OF.*AK
OIL LEAKING FROM HEADGASKET ONTO MOTOR. MOTOR IS NEW, AND THIS PROBLEM SHOULD NOT OCCUR. DEALER STATED ENGINE GASKET NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. CONSUMER STATEDTHERE MIGHT BE A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
SMELLED BURNING OIL. LOOKED UNDER TRUCK AND NOTICED OIL LEAKAGE ON CONNECTION BETWEEN EXHAUST MANIFOLD AND EXHAUST PIPE. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHICH WAS BLOWN HEAD GASKET. RECEIVED NO DETAILED DESCRIPTION AS TO WHY THIS HAPPENED OR EXTENT OF OTHER EQUIPMENT DAMAGE. HEAD AND VALVE GASKETS WERE REPLACED. NO MENTION OF ENGINE REPLACEMENT OR WHETHER OR NOT NEW GASKETS ARE ROOT CAUSE FIX OR SHORT TERM FIX. VEHICLE STILL UNDER MANUFACTURERS ORIGINAL FACTORY WARRANTY. THIS COMPONENT FAILURE IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR LATE MODEL/LOW MILEAGE VEHICLE. *AK
ENGINE HEAD GASKET HAS GONE BAD TWICE, AND BOTH TIMES WHILE CONUSMER WAS ON STREET. ALSO, WAS LEAKING OIL AFTER GASKET BROKE. CONTACTED DEALER.*AK
ROUGH ENGINE IDLE. DEALER CHECKED 3X'S AND SAYS IT'S THE WAY FORD LEANS THE ENGINES THAT CAUSES THE ROUGH IDLE. THEY CAN'T REPLACE PARTS UNLESS THEY FIND A BAD ONE. THEY RAN ELECTRICAL TEST EQUIPMENT AND FOUND NOTHING. I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS THIS PROBLEM.*AK
I WAS DRIVING THROUGH A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD AT APPROXIMATELY 25-30 MPH WHEN THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL CAME OFF OF MY 1999 F-150, CAUSING ME TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASH INTO A VEHICALE PARKED ON THE SIDE OF THE STREET. THE IMPACT CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE I STRUCK AND SEVERE DAMAGE TO MY TRUCK AND CAUSING PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL INJURY TO MYSELF.*AK
IGNITION WIRE ON STARTER HAS BROKE OFF, DEALER WAS NOTIFIED.*AK CONSUMER STATED THE WIRING HARNESS HAS TOO MUCH WEIGHT TO THE STARTER.*SLC
FORD DEALER DIAGNOSED, INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED, A BAD/LEAKING HEAD GASKET. PRESS RELEASED ISSUED BY FORD TODAY FOR LEAKY HEAD GASKET DEFECT ON 5.4L ENGINES. THIS SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO COVER 4.6L ENGINES AS WELL.*AK

WHILE DRIVING AT 30MPH, CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN FRONTAL COLLISON AND DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYED, BUT DRIVER STILL HIT WINDSHIELD.*AK *MJ
PURCHASED 1999 F150 LARIAT NEW WITH ELECTRONIC SIDE MIRRORS WITH BUILT IN TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS. THE MIRRORS HAVE FADED AND TURNED SPOTTY WITH DARK SPOTS. THE PASSENGER SIDE MIRROR IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE OUT OF AND THE DRIVERS SIDE IS ALMOST AS BAD. WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE MONTHS I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SEE OUT OF EITHER SIDE MIRROR. CALLED FORD AND THEY SAID IT WASN'T A DEFECT AND I NEEDED TO BRING IT INTO A FORD DEALER TO SEE IF IT WOULD BE COVERED.
DRIVER AND PASSENGER FRONT DOORS ARE CRACKING AROUND WINDOW, BODY OF VEHICLE IS FRAGILE. CONSUMER IS CONCERNED, ESPECIALLY IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT, DOORS MAY NOT HOLD. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM. *AK *ET
I TURNED RIGHT FROM A STOP SIGN AND MERGED INTO TRAFFIC. I HAD A CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND SEVERAL BEHIND ME. I FLOORED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. WHEN I RELEASED THE PEDAL IT WAS STUCK TO THE FLOOR AND DID NOT DEPRESS. AT THIS TIME I STEPPED ON THE PEDAL AGAIN TO SEE IF THIS WOULD FREE IT BUT THERE WAS NOT EVEN ANY SPRING TO IT. I THEN HIT MY BRAKES ONCE TO SEE IF THIS WOULD FREE MY ACCELERATOR PEDAL(AS YOU WOULD DO IF YOUR CRUISE CONTROL WAS ON/ MINE WAS NOT ON) TO NO AVAIL. NOW I WAS ABOUT TO REAR END THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND THERE WAS A SEMI-TRAILER IN THE LEFT LANE MY FIRST REACTION WAS TO LOCK UP MY BRAKES. I DID SO AND THE REAR TIRES CONTINUED TO SPIN OUT OF CONTROL AT FULL THROTTLE. THE TRUCK SLID FOR 168' BEFORE GOING INTO A DITCH ON RIGHT SIDE OF ROAD AND OVER TURNING. NO INJURY TO ME, JUST A MAIL BOX AND MY TRUCK. MCCANDLESS FORD DEALERSHIP INSPECTED VEHICLE AND FOUND NO PROBLEMS. FORD MOTOR CO. SAID THEY WERE NOT RESPONSIBLE DO TO THE MILEAGE BEING OVER 36000 MILES, AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST MY INSURANCE AGENT SAID THEY WOULD FIX THE BODY BUT COULD NOT HAVE THROTTLE FIXED BECAUSE THERE WAS NOT A PROBLEM. EVERYBODY HAS WIPED THEIR HANDS OF THE ISSUE AND THIS VEHICLE WILL BE PUT BACK ON THE ROAD WITH THE SAME PROBLEM OF THROTTLE STICKING WIDE OPEN. I HAVE FOUR CHILDREN WHO RIDE IN THIS TRUCK AND SINCE I KNOW OF PROBLEM I CAN NOT DRIVE THIS VEHICLE IN THIS CONDITION. THIS VEHICLE WILL ONE DAY TAKE A HUMAN LIFE OR LIVES AND MY INSURANCE CO WILL NOT EVEN PAY TO HAVE ANOTHER MECHANIC LOOK AT IT. HOW MANY OF US GET A SECOND OPINION, EVEN FROM A HIGHLY EDUCATED DR. LET ALONE A MECHANIC. *AK
CRACK IN THE DOOR SHEET METAL AT THE LOWER REAR OF THE WINDOW OPENING NEAR THE BELT MOLDING. *AK
I GOT IN A ACCIDENT WITH A DEER AND WAS TALKING WITH REPAIR PERSONAL. WHEN ONE ASKED IF I WAS HAVING ANY TROUBLE WITH MY DOOR. I SAID IT SHAKES WHEN HITTING BUMPS. I WAS WORRIED ABOUT THE DOOR FLYING OPEN WHEN ROLL OVER OCCUR. HE SAID THEY HAVE SEEN ALOT OF THEM CRACKING RIGHT AT THE WINDOW BASE THEN WE LOOKED AT MINE AND IT WAS CRACKED ALSO. HE SAID THAT THE DEALER WAS FIXING THE CRACK FOR FREE BUT WHEN I CALLED THE DEALER THEY SAID NO THEY WERE NOT FIXING THE DOORS. THIS IS A FACTORY DEFECT AND MIGHT BE THE CAUSE OF DEATH BECAUSE OF IMPROPER FIT. INTHE CASE OF A ROLL OVER THE DOOR MAY COME OPEN MORE FREELY.*AK
