STRESS CRACK ON WINDOW FRAME NEXT TO RUBBER MOULDING, 11 1/2 " ABOVE THE HANDLE. MORE OBVIOUS WHEN WINDOW IS UP AND CLOSED.
CONSUMER STATEED THAT THE WHEEL LOCKS UP WHILE BRAKING ALSO,THE BRAKE PEDAL, DRUM, ROTORS AND PADS WERE FAILED AND REPLACED. *YH
WHEN APPLYING BRAKES IT CAUSED VEHICLE TO VIBRATE, VEHICLE BEEN IN DEALER SHOP FOR REPAIRS ON TWO OCCASIONS,AND PROBLEM STILL REOCCURRING. . *AK ONE WHEEL LOCKED UP WHILE TRAVELING. TRANSMISSION AND SHIFTER VIBRATES UNDER ROUGH ROAD CODITION. THE STEETING AND THE VEHICLE IN GENERAL WERE NOT SECURE. *YH
1999 FORD F-150 SUPERCAB WAS DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 25 MILES ROUND TRIP FROM AND TO HOUSE LOCATED IN RURAL AREA OF OHIO COUNTY, KENTUCKY AND THEN PARKED IN CARPORT ATTACHED TO HOUSE. APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES LATER THE TRUCK BURST INTO FLAMES. THE TRUCK AND THE HOUSE WERE TOTALLY DESTROYED.
SPARE TIRE WAS BRUISED WHILE MOUNTED UNDER THE TIRE ASSEMBLY, UNDERNEATH VEHICLE; DEALER/MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED. *AK CONSUMER INSTALLED A USED MUD FLAP BETWEEN TRUCK FRAME AND NEW TIRE UNDER VEHICLE. *SLC
I HAVE BEEN TO THE FORD DEALER NUMEROUS TIMES FOR THESE PROBLEMS AND THIS LAST TIME THEIR ENGINEER THAT CAME IN HAS NOTED THE PROBLEM I HAVE. THEY CONSIDER THIS NORMAL AND ACCEPTABLE AS IT IS. FOR BEING A NEW TRUCK IT SHOULD HAVE TO BE IN THE SHOP FOR ALL THE PROBLEMS IT'S HAD. I HAVE ALL THE SERVICE REPORTS IF NEEDED. I PRAY THAT THESE PROBLEMS CAN BE RESOLVED. NOTICED WHEEL LUG NUTS WERE LOOSE BEFORE PERFORMING FIRST TIRE ROTATION. THREE OF FIVE NUTS WERE LOOSE ON BOTH REAR WHEELS.
MY BACKGROUND INCLUDES OVER 10 YEARS IN TRANSPORTATION MAINTENANCE INCLUDING TIRE FAILURE ANALYSIS. WHILE TRAVELING 75 MPH ON I17N, I HEARD THE TIRE TREAD SEPARATE FROM THE CASING. THE TREAD WAS BEATING AGAINST THE TRUCK BODY. THE CASING DEFLATED WITHIN SECONDS. I WAS LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER. IT HAS BEEN MY EXPERIENCE THAT THE TIRE MANUFACTURERS PRODUCE OTHER PRIVATE LABEL TIRES FOR OTHER COMPANIES. SOMEONE MAY WANT TO CHECK IF THE DECATUR PLANT WAS MAKING ANY OTHER TIRES FOR ANYONE. CONSUMER HAD A HEAD-ON COLLISON WITH ANOTHER AUTOMOBILE. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. CONSUMER WAS SLIGHTLY INJURIED. CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 45MPH.*AK
THE TIRE SPLIT ON THE SIDE AND BLEW OUT WHILE DRIVING( DOT NUMBER: W208LRC328 TIRE SIZE: 235/70R16 )
I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE NEW IN MARCH 1999. MY TIRES HAVE BEEN ROTATED EVERY 5000 MILES. I HAVE NOT OVERLOADED MY TRUCK OR HAULED ANYTHING HEAVY. MY TIRES ARE WORN ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE 2/32" WEAR INDICATORS AND ARE VIBRATING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND WOBBLING AT LOW SPEEDS. FIRESTONE DOES NOT WANT TO PRO-RATE THE TIRES UNLESS I CAN PROVE THAT THERE IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. IF THERE IS NO MANUFACTURING DEFECT THEN I HAVE TO PAY FULL PRICE FOR NEW TIRES. I HAVE TALKED TO A NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS AS I AM HAVING WITH THESE TIRES. THERE WAS A STRONG EXHAUST SMELL IN VEHICLE. A SMALL PART THAT ALLOWED AIR TO ENTER VEHICLE, HAD A PLASTIC DOOR. PART IN THIS VEHICLE IT WAS WARPED, NEVER CLOSED. DEALER ORDERED NEW PART WHICH WAS ALSO WARPED. DEALER ORDERED MORE PARTS, ALL WERE DEFECTIVE. FORD REPRESENTATIVE STATED THERE WAS NO REMEDY.*AK
INTERIOR LIGHTS FAIL TO GO OUT AFTER VEHICLE HAS BEEN TURNED OFF. AFTER STARTING VEHICLE, SPEEDOMETER SHOT TO 100RMPS AFTER SHIFTING. TOOK TO DEALER & LIGHTS STILL ON & NOT GOING OFF. EVENTUALLY, LIGHTS WENT OUT. *AK
I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE ABSBRAKES ON THIS VEHICLE 5 TIMES THE DEALERSHIP TOLD THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG BUT THE FRONT BRAKE DO NOT WORK STILL THIS TRUCK IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE.THE TRANMISSION SOUNDS LIKE IT IF ABOUT BUST IN HALF EVERY TIME YOU SHIFT IT FROM FIRST.THEY SAID IT SHIFTS FINE.IAM A CERTIFIED DRIVE TRAIN MECHANIC IT DONT SHIFT FINE.I WILL BE CONSULTING AN ATTORNEY ABOUT PERSUEING A LEMON LAW CLAIM.

WHILE TRAVELING HOME FROM VACATION ON INTERSTATE HWY.DRIVING APPX. 65 MPH. FOR APPX 4 HOURS LEFT REAR TIRE EXPLODED, SHREDDING ALL THE WAY AROUND THE RIM ON THE OUTER SIDE. I WENT TO PURCHASE A NEW TIRE AND WAS TOLD THAT A RECALL WAS COMING OUT ON WILDERNESS TIRES. I CALLED MY FORD DEALER AND WAS TOLD NO DECISION HAD BEEN MADE AS TO THE TIRE SIZE,TYPE VEHICLE AND WHO WILL RELACE THE TIRES. I SENT FIRESTONE AN E-MAIL MESSAGE AND RECIEVED A GENERAL REPLY STATING ONLY 15 IN.TIRES WERE INVOLVED IN THE RECALL. I STILL HANE NOT REPLACED THE SPARE TIRE ON THIS LEASED VEHICLE I'M SORRY TO SAY IT SOUNDS LIKE I MIGHT HAVE TO SHOP AT G.M... A GENER. *AK (DOT NUMBER: W208 TIRESIZE: P23570R16)
THE REPORTED FAILURE WAS THE 2ND TIME. THE TRUCK KEEPS ACCELERATING UNTIL THE ACCELERATOR IS MANUALLY PULLED UP, BY HAND. THIS IS A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION. *AK
FUEL WAS MOVING FROM 1 TANK TO THE OTHER, CAUSING SPILLAGE. RECALL WAS ISSUED & TAKEN CARE OF BY THE ORIGINAL OWNER. MANUFACTURER WOULD NOT ACKNOWLEDGE REPAIRING THE PROBLEM FOR THE SECOND TIME. CONSUMER PURCHASED THE KIT PERTAINING TO THE RECALL & PUT PART ON & HAD A REPAIR SHOP TO DO THE REST. *AK *ML
SINCE THE CONTROL ARM KEEPS SHIFTING DUE TO THE OBLONG HOLE THAT THE BOLT IS HELD IN, THE ALIGNMENT IS ALWAYS INCORRECT...MAKES IT HARD TO KEEP VEHICHLE STRAIGHT AT 60 MPH. IF THE LOWER CONTROL ARM KEEPS SHIFTING, I'M SURE THE BOLT THAT KEEPS THE CONTROL ARM IN PLACE WILL EVENTUALLY BE SHEARED OFF......CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL.

DRIVER SIDE DOOR HAS CRACKED NOW FOR THE 2ND TIME IN THE SAME PLACE. THE TRUCK WAS REPAIRED AT BOB TOWNSEND FORD IN CINCINNATI, OH AND WHEN I RETURNED TO SHOW THE DEALER THAT THE DOOR WAS CRACKED AGAIN I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MGR THAT SOMETIMES STUFF LIKE THAT HAPPENS. I HAVE NOTICED THE SAME CRACK IN THE SAME SPOT ON OTHER FORDS INCLUDING THE 97 MODEL. I WANT MY DOOR REPAIRED BY FORD! I WAS TOLD BY BOB TOWNSEND FORD THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR REPAIR OUT OF MY POCKET. IT IS VERY CLEAR THAT FORD KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM BUT IS UNWILLING TO HONOR ITS SO CALLED QUALITY CARE PROGRAM TO ITS CUSTOMERS.*AK
ENGINE WAS LEAKING OIL DUE TO A BLOWN HEAD GASKET. DEALER CONTACTED. *AK SAME SYMPTOMS AND PROBLEMS HAVE APPEARED AGAIN, BUT VEHICLE IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY. *TT
MIRRORS ON BOTH SIDE DOORS ARE DE LAMINATING THE REFLECTANT ON THE BACK OF THE MIRRORS. THIS AT FIRST LOOKS LIKE PAINT OVERSPARAY, BUT CONTINUES UNTILL YOU CAN NOT SEE OUT OF THE MIRRORS. THEY ARE SIMPLY BLACK. THEY ARE THE FORD SIGNAL MIRRORS WITH TURN SIGNALS BUILT IN. I WAS TOLD BY THE PARTS DEPARTMENT THAT THIS WAS NOT A DEFECT COVERD BY WARRENTY. HE ALSO INDICATED THAT OTHER PEOPLE WERE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM.I HAVE NEVER, EVER SEEN A MIRROR DO THIS. THE MIRRORS ARE A DEFINATE SAFETY ISSUE AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED OF 65 MPH 4- WHEEL DRIVE ENGAGED BY ITSELF, CAUSING VEHICLE TO JUMP ACROSS THE ROAD INTO AN EMBANKMENT AND ROLLOVER TWICE INTO AN UPRIGHT POSITION. UPON IMPACT, BOTH AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. MANUFACTURER NOTIFIED. NO INJURIES REPORTED. FELL FREE TO PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 1999 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET FAILED ON THE VEHICLE THREE TIMES. IN 2000, WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO STALL. HE NOTICED WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT HE WOULD BE LIABLE FOR THE REPAIRS. THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE V8 ENGINE, ONLY THE V6 ENGINE MODEL. IN 2008, THE MANIFOLD GASKET FAILED ONCE AGAIN. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 86,000.
DRIVER'S SIDE LOWER CONTROL ARM RETAINING BOLT SLIDES LEFT TO RIGHT. VEHICLE NOW VEERS TO THE LEFT. *AK
TIRE HAD A CATOSTROPHIC FAILURE IN MY OPINION. I AM FAMILIAR WITH TIRE FAILURE ANALYSIS. I WAS DIRECTOR OF MAINTENANCE OF A LARGE TRAILER LEASING COMPANY. THIS TIRE SEPARATED AND THEN THE CASING FAILED. I WAS VERY LUCKY TO BE ABLE TO TYPE THIS. THE TIRE WAS WARRANTIED BY GENERAL.*AK (TIRESIZE: P23570R16)
ELECTRONIC MODULE CAUSES WINDSHIELD WIPERS TO OPERATE IN THE OFF MODE WITHOUT BEING TURNED ON. CAUSES REPEATED SCRAPING AND SCORING OF DRY WINDSHIELD AND DISTRACTION TO DRIVER. *AK
FORD SAYS +/- 7MPH IS IN TOLERANCE. MY ODOMETER IS -.15 MILES IN 10; SPEED IS 3 TO 5 MPH OFF. IT CAUSES PROBLEMS WITH LAW NOT TO MENTION MILAGE IF I SELL TRUCK. *AK
WHILE PRESSING THE CLUTCH PEDAL, THEN MOVING THE PAWL TO NEUTRAL, VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED WITHOUT A WARNING. CONSUMER HAD TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION KEY TO STOP VEHICLE. *AK
THE LEFT LOWER CONTROL ARM BOLT IS MOUNTED IN A SLOTED HOLE WITH NO LOCKING MECHANISM. THIS ALLOWS THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL TO GO OUT OF ALIGNMENT AND MAKE "CLUNKING" NOISES. I AM PERSONALLY AWARE OF AT LEAST 237 FAILURES OF THIS MODEL THROUGH THE F150ONLINE MESSAGE BOARD. FORD MAINTAINS THAT IT IS NOT A PROBLEM AND REFUSES TO FIX IT. MY DEALER, BELL FORD, WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION FROM FORD. THUS, A VEHICLE WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR LOSS OF CONTROL REMAINS ON THE ROAD.*AK
DOORS ARE CRACKING ABOVE THE DOOR LATCH. DEALER WAS CONTACTED & CONSUMER WAS REFERRED TO NHTSA HOTLINE. *AK
DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AND THE WINDOW FRAME IS CRACKING JUST ABOVE THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDOW. *AK
TRANSMISSION CONVERTER STARTED MAKING NOISE WHEN DOWNSHIFTING. DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF PROBLEM . THERE WERE STRESS CRACKS ON ROOF. ALSO, SHEET METAL SHOWED A GAP BETWEEN OPENINGS. *AK
REAR AXEL HAS CRACKED TWICE ON MY FORD F-150. I HAVE NOT BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS AND HAVE NOT BOTTOMED OUT MY CAR. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF IMPACT ON MY VEHICAL. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCLERATED. BRAKES DID NOT STOP VEHICLE. COULD NOT PLACE VEHICLE IN PARK POSITION, OR COULD NOT SHUT OFF VEHICLE, WHICH ALMOST CAUSED A CRASH. THE FIRST TIME THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED ON APR 27, 2000, BUT IN THE REVERSE POSITION. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
WHILE DRIVING SUDDENLY THE TIRES LOST PRESSURE, THE FIRST INCIDENT THE CONSUMER HAD TO DRIVE ON THE RIM BEFORE HE COULD SAFELY CHANGE THE TIRE, THE SIDEWALL WAS BUBBLED IN SEVERAL PLACES, THE SECOND INCIDENT THE SIDEWALL COMPLETELY RUPTURED (GOODYEAR WRANGLER AP P255/70R16). NLM
THE ENGINE STALLED WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN DUE TO DESIGN FLAW IN THE AIR INTAKE SYSTEM, WHICH ALLOWS FOR WATER TO ENTER THE SYSTEM. YH
MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR CRACKED BY THE WINDOW. DEALER REPLACED DOOR, BUT TOLD ME IN ALL LIKELY HOOD IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN TILL FORD COMES UP WITH A WAY TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I WANT TO KNOW IF F0RD IS WORKING ON THIS CAUSE I DON'T FEEL SAFE CAUSE IF I'M IN A ACCEIDENT WILL THAT DOOR HOLD UP UNDER IMPACT. OR IF IT BREAKS AGAIN WILL THEY COVER IT, WARRANTY IS ALMOST UP I CAN'T AFFORD TO BUY A NEW DOOR EVERY YEAR. BUT I SHOULDN'T HAVE TOO OR FEEL UNSAFE IN MY VEICHLE. *AK

THE CRACK IS LOCATED IN THE SHEET METAL RIGHT NEXT TO THE DOOR LOCKS. I AM GOING TO MY FORD DEALER TOMORROW TO HAVE THIS LOOKED AT. I CAN ONLY HOPE THAT HE FIXES THIS DEFECT. THIS TRUCK COST A LOT OF MONEY. *AK
ENGINE STARTED TO MAKE VALVE NOISE ON COLD STARTS, IT PROGRESSED OVER TIME TO VALVE NOISE ALL THE TIME WHILE BEING DRIVEN. DEALER IS HAVE ENGINE REPLACED, DUE TO A SERIVE BULLETIN. THEY SAY IT WILL BE 2 TO 3 WEEKS FOR THE ENGINE TO ARRIVE. HOWEVER, THEY STATE THAT I CAN STILL DRIVE THE VEHICLE. SEEMS KIND OF DANGEROUS TO CONTINUE DRIVING A VEHICLE THAT NEEDS A NEW MOTOR. *AK
ENGINE HAS BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES. ENGINE IS GOING AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT THE NOISE FROM THE VALVES AND LOWER END ON ENGINE ARE ACCEPTABLE TO THEM. THEY WILL NOT FIX AT THIS TIME.
WHEN COASTING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OR ACCELERATING, TRANSMISSION WILL HESITATE IN SHIFTING FROM 2TO3 AND 3TO4. HAS LED TO NEARLY BEING REARENDED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. PLAZA FORD STATES NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. ALSO IDLES HARD UPON STARTUP AND 4X4 DOES NOT ALWAYS ENGAGE - DEALER ALSO SAID CAN'T REPEAT THE PROBLEM.*AK
