WHILE IN THE STREET VEHICLE WAS IN PARK AND THE KEY WAS TAKEN OUT OF THE IGNITION SWITCH. THEN, VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE UNDER THE HOOD, FOLLOWED BY BLACK SMOKE AND LARGE FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT INDICATED THAT IGNITION SWITCH CAUSED THE FIRE. *AK
CRUISE CONTROL ON 2000 MODEL FORD F-150 QUIT OPERATING. FOUND BRAKE FLUID LEAKING AROUND SPEED CONTROL TERMINATION SWITCH CONNECTED TO BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR. WAS ROTATING TIRES ON SAID PICKUP WHEN I NOTICED LARGE AMOUNT OF SMOKE AND SMALL FIRE COMING FROM UNDER HOOD. PULLED FUSE FROM UNDER DASH TO SPEED CONTROL AND STOPPED SMOKE AND FIRE. LOOKED AT SWITCH THAT WAS LEAKING FLUID AND NOTICED WIRES HAD BEEN MELTED. PLASTIC (POLY) BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR WAS ALSO DAMAGED BUT DID NOT LEAK FLUID. BOUGHT NEW SWITCH FROM FORD DEALERSHIP AND SCREWED IN FLUID BLOCK AND REPAIRED WIRING WITH NEW TERMINAL CONNECTORS THAT CAME WITH SWITCH. I STILL HAVE OLD MELTED SWITCH AND DAMAGED BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR. *JB
LEFT TIE-ROD FELL OFF WHILE TURNING INTO DRIVEWAY, WHICH WAS FORTUNATE IN THAT I WAS GOING SLOWLY AND NOT INJURED WHEN IT HAPPENED. TRUCK WAS TOWED TO REPAIR SHOP AND TIE-RODS REPLACED. OLD PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE, BUT I HAVE RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD (ONE MONTH LATER) THAT SAYS I SHOULD BE REGULARLY HAVING MY TIE-RODS INSPECTED, CAUSING ME TO WONDER IF THIS IS A DEFECT. *JB
WE PARKED OUR 2000 FORD F-150 TRUCK IN OUR DRIVEWAY ON MONDAY AT 5:30 IN THE AFTERNOON, AND AT 7:00 THE NEXT MORNING(13 HOURS LATER) IT BURNED TO THE GROUND. OUR NEIGHBOR WAS LEAVING FOR WORK AND HEARD THE TIRES EXPLODE, SAW IT WAS ON FIRE AND CALLED THE FIRE DEPT. . HE ALSO TOOK PICTURES. I HAVE CALLED EVERYONE, EMAILED, LAWYERS ,T.V., CONSUMER AGENCIES AND OF COURSE FORD MOTOR REPEATEDLY. BECAUSE I HAD NO INSURANCE, THERE HAS BEEN NO INTEREST. I STILL HAVE THE TRUCK MELTED TO MY DRIVEWAY. THERE WAS ONLY 50,000 MILES ON IT AND WE PURCHASED IT NEW. WE HAVE BORROWED A VEHICLE AND RENTED CARS TO GET TO WORK. WE OWN OUR OWN BUSINESS, AND IT HAS BEEN A DIFFICULT TIME, ESPECIALLY SINCE WE CANNOT AFFORD TO PURCHASE ANOTHER CAR, NOR SHOULD WE HAVE TO AS THE AVERAGE CONSUMER DOES NOT EXPECT THEIR VEHICLE TO GO UP IN FLAMES WHILE THEY SLEEP. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD NUMEROUS TIMES, AND HAVE HAD TO REPEAT THE SAME STORY OVER AND OVER. AND OF COURSE, THEY JUST SENT A LETTER TELLING ME TO CONTACT THE INSURANCE CO. PLEASE HELP US TO RETRIEVE A VEHICLE. TELL ME, WHAT DOES FORD DO WITH THE RECALL WHEN IT CONCERNS A MELTED BURNED UP TRUCK? I STILL HAVE IT MELTED TO MY DRIVEWAY. WHILE PARKED THE VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE WITHOUT WARNING. THE CAUSE HAS YET TO BE DETERMINED. NO INJURIES REPORTED. *AK THE CONSUMER WAS UNAWARE THAT THE SWITCH WAS PART OF AN UPCOMING RECALL THEREFORE HE REPLACED THE PART HIMSELF. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER BUT NEITHER OF THEM HAVE PROVIDED ANY ASSISTANCE. *JB *NM
THE REAR DIFFERENTIAL WAS FIXED 3 TIMES. WHEN BACKING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY IF THE SHIFTER WAS IN DRIVE, THE VEHICLE SHUTTERED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES WITHIN A 100,00 MILES. *AK THE ENGINE FAILED ON ONE OCCASION. *SC *JB
I HAVE A CRACK IN THE DOOR SKIN OF MY DRIVERS DOOR I THINK FORD NEEDS TO BE MADE TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND FIX THIS PROBLEM. *AK
HAD ABS REPLACED NUMEROUS TIMES ON MY 2000 F-150 COME TO FIND OUT THE WIRING HARNESS HAS BEEN DEFECTIVE THE WHOLE TIME AND HAS JUST BEEN DISCOVERED TO BE THE CULPRIT. FORD HAS AGREED TO PAY 50% OF COST BUT I CAN'T BE THE ONLY ONE WITH A DEFECTIVE HARNESS, RIGHT?*AK
FIRE ORIGINATED IN VEHICLE WHILE PARKED AND RUNNING. OWNER HAD PARKED VEHICLE AND EXITED IT TO OPEN A GATE. SMELLED SMOKE AND OBSERVED SMOKE ISSUING FROM UNDER LR HOOD. OBSERVED A SMALL FIRE AT THE LOCATION OF THE CRUISE CONTROL DE-ACTIVATION SWITCH. FIRE PROPOGATED RAPIDLY AND ULTIMATELY CAUSED HEAVY DAMAGE TO VEHICLE.*AK
THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE CAR PORT WHEN IT CAUGHT FIRE. THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY THE MASTER CYLINDER PLUG WHICH CAUSED BRAKE FLUID TO LEAK ON THE MANIFOLD. *AK *SC *JB
THE CONSUMER STATED HE HAD DRIVEN HIS TRUCK FOR APPROX. ONE HOUR, HE THEN PARKED THE VEHICLE, THEN ABOUT 2 PM, THE TRUCK SUDDENLY BEGAN TO BURN. THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE TRUCK COMPLETELY BURNED. THE FIRE MARSHALL STATED THAT IT COULD HAVE BEEN AN ELECTRICAL SHORT THAT IGNITED. HE STATED HE HAD NO WARNING THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. *JB *SC *JB
I OWN A 2000 FORD F-150, WHILE TURNIG RIGHT TO GO IN THE GARAGE THE RIGHT HAND TIE ROD END SEPERATED FROM THE SOCKET. THE COST OF THE REPAIR 248.00 BECAUSE THE OPPOSIT END OF THE ASSEMBLEY WAS DAMAGE WHEN THE TRUCK HIT THE BLACKTOP. IN AUGUST I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD TELLING ME TO HAVE THE TIE ROD ENDS INSPECTED OR HOW TO INSPECT THEM EVERY 15,000 MILES. THIS LETTER INDICATES THAT FORD KNOWS THERE'S A PROBLEM BUT CHOOSE NOT TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT UNTIL SOMEONE GETS KILLED IN AN ACCIDENT (WHICH COULD BE ME.) WHEN THE LEFT TIE ROD END DECIDES TO FAIL OR THE RIGNT ONE GOES AGAIN. *AK

FORD F-150 MANUFACTURING DEFECT OF THE TIE ROD ASSEMBLIES. *BF THE VEHICLE'S TIE ROD FAILED WHILE PULLING INTO A DRIVEWAY. *NM
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK AT 50 MPH;I HEARD A LOUD BANG FOLLOWED BY THE SOUNDS OF A LARGE EXHAUST LEAK.WHEN I OPENED THE HOOD TO FIND SPARK PLUG,COIL,AND BOOT EJECTED FROM #5 CYLINDER.I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT I HAVE MY SERVICE PERFORMED AT.I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK USED BACK IN JULY OF 2003 AND HAVE IT SERVICED ON TIME,ALL THE TIME.THE TRUCK HAS A LITTLE OVER 51,000 MILES ON IT.I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A DEFECT FROM THE FACTORY AND THAT FORD MOTOR COMPANY SHOULD HAVE TO REPAIR THIS BECAUSE IT IS A DEFECT. THE DEALERSHIP TELL ME THAT IS GOING TO COST ME APPROX. $3000 TO REPAIR .THAT WILL CONSIST OF NEW HEADS ,COIL PACKS,SPARK PLUGS ,GASKETS AND OF COURSE LABOR.I ASKED THEM WHY DID THIS OCCUR AND NO ONE WILL GIVE A REASON WHY.*AK
VEHICLE WAS PARKED OUTSIDE THE HOME. WHEN OWNER'S SPOUSE CAME HOME SHE NOTICED SMOKE AND FLAMES COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOTIFIED. *AK
THE STATE OF NEVADA, DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATION AND NATURAL RESOURCES, DIVISION OF WATER RESOURCES, PURCHASED FOUR FORD F150 EXTENDED CAB, SHORT BED, FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE PICKUP TRUCKS, WITH THE TOWING PACKAGE AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS. BUDGET CONSTRAINTS DID NOT ALLOW THE ADDITION OF ANTILOCK BRAKES. WHEN THE REAR BRAKES BECOME DUSTY OR IN THE MORNING WHEN THE HUMIDITY IS HIGHER THE REAR BRAKES ON ALL OF THE TRUCKS TEND TO LOCK UP UNDER LIGHT BRAKING ON THE PAVEMENT. THE PROBLEM IS GREATER ON GRAVEL ROADS THAT COVER A LARGE PORTION OF THE RURAL PARTS OF NEVADA. THE REAR BRAKES LOCK AT INOPPORTUNE TIMES ESPECIALLY ON GRAVEL ROADS THAT LEADS TO THE REAR END OF THE TRUCK WANTING TO SLIDE OUT OF CONTROL. NO-ONE HAS BEEN INJURED TO DATE, BUT IT COULD ONLY BE A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE AN INCIDENT OCCURS. WE HAVE BROUGHT THE TRUCKS BACK TO FORD UNDER WARRANTY AND THE REAR DRUMS AND BRAKES WERE REPLACED, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS WITH OR WITHOUT NEW DRUMS AND BRAKE SHOES. I'VE ASKED ABOUT RECALLS, SERVICE BULLITINS, ETC., BUT HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THERE ARE NONE THAT ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM. *AK
DT: CRACKED FRAMES ON THE FRONT END OF THREE AMBULANCES THAT THEY HAD TO HAVE REPAIRED. ADVISED BY THE NATIONAL AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION TO REPORT THIS TO NHTSA. *AK
WHILE DRIVING, THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED THE DASH BOARD. WAS TOLD THE SPEED SENSOR HAD GONE BAD. TWO DAYS LATER THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN. CONSUMER CONTINUED TO DRIVING THE VEHICLE. IT WOULD JUST TAKE OFF BY ITSELF. CONSUMER ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SOUNDED AS IF IT WERE GOING TO CUT OFF. *NM THE SPEED CONTROL SWITCH CAUSED THE BLACK BOX AND SPEED SENSOR TO BURN. FORD HAS NOT RETURNED CALLS AND REFUSED TO PAY FOR PART AND LABOR TO HAVE VEHICLE FIXED. *BF
MY 2000 FORD F150 SUPER-CAB DOOR IS STARTING TO CRACK, APPROXIMATELY 3" ABOVE THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDOW. MY RESEARCH ON-LINE SHOWS THAT MANY OTHER FORD F150 FROM 1997-2000 ARE EXPERIENCING THIS SAME PROBLEM. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE, WHO STATE THERE ARE NO KNOWN PROBLEMS OF THIS TYPE. *LA
FAILED TIE ROD END AT 57,000 MILES CAUSIING COMPLETE LOSS OF STEERING. NO WARNING. LUCKILY I WAS IN A PARKING LOT AND NOT ON THE FREEWAY. *AK
IN APRIL 2004 MY SON AWAKEND TO SEE HIS 2000 FORD F150 PICK-UP TRUCK ON FIRE. IT BURNED THE ENGINE BEYOND RECOGNITION. I HAVE PHOTOS OF THE DAMAGE. I CONTACTED FORD MOTOR AND THEY TOLD ME TO CALL THE INSURANCE CO. MY SON ONLY HAD COLLISION INSURANCE ON THE TRUCK BECAUSE OF MONEY PROBLEMS. THUS HE WAS LEFT WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION. MY RESEARCH ON THE WEB AT THE TIME LED ME TO BELIEVE THIS WAS A PROBLEM FORD WOULD NOT, OR HAD NOT ADDRESSED. MANY OTHERS HAD EXPERIENCED SIMILAR PROBLEMS. WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT IT?*AK
BATTERY KEPT DRAINING AND THE IGNITION CHIMED WITH KEY REMOVED. HEATER BLOWER RAN AFTER IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF AND TOUCH KEY PADS STUCK CAUSING LIGHTS TO STAY ON. ALL OF THESE SYMPTOMS WERE ATTRIBUTED TO A WATER LEAK IN THE WINDSHIELD WHICH LEAKED INTO A ELECTRICAL CONNECTION BLOCK BEHIND DRIVER'S SIDE DASHBOARD CAUSING A SHORT CIRCUIT. THE ELECTRICAL BLOCK MELTED AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO BLOCK AND WIRING AND WAS SUBSEQUENTLY REPLACED. WINDSHIELD WAS REMOVED AND RESEALED TO PREVENT RECURRENCE OF LEAK. *JB
WHILE REVERSING OUT OF DRIVEWAY FRONT LEFT TIRE STAYED STRAIGHT AND THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE TURNED RIGHT. WHEN THIS OCCURRED VEHICLE STOPPED REVERSING. THIS FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE TIE ROD SEPARATING FROM ITS LINKAGE. *AK
TRUCK SITTING IN DRIVEWAY...HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN FOR ABOUT AN HOUR...SMELT SMOKE...FOUND ENGINE COMPARTMENT ON FIRE...DRIVERS SIDE...BETWEEN RADIATOR AND FIREWALL...EXTINGUISHED FIRE WITH WATER HOSE...WIRING HARNESS MELTED, CRUISE CONTROL WIRING AND CABLE MELTED, MASTER CYLINDER MELTED FLUID RESERVOIR MELTED, INTAKE DUCT & FILTER HOUSING BURNED, HOOD FIRE DAMAGED, LEFT FENDER FIRE DAMAGED, LEFT FRONT TIRE DESTROYED...REPAIRED BY LINCOLN DEALER (BAYTOWN) ~$8K000 DAMAGE. REPLACED WIRING HARNESS, INTAKE DUCT, FILTER & HOUSING, MASTER CYLINDER, CRUISE CONTROL, VARIOUS SENSORS, VACUUM LINES, HOOD, FENDER, TIRE, SHOCK ABSORBER. *AK ORIGINAL PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE
FORD F150 SERIES, LATE 90'S INTO THE 2000'S. MY VEHICLE IS A 2000 F150 4 DOOR, EXTENDED CAB, 4.6 TRITON V8. WHEN THE TILT WHEEL FEATURE IS OPERATED, THE TURN SIGNALS AND EMERGENCY FLASHERS CEASE TO OPERATE, OR OPERATE INCORRECTLY. ON OTHER F150'S I AM AWARE OF, WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, THE PROBLEM EVENTUALLY RESULTS IN TOTAL LACK OF FUNCTION OF TURN SIGNALS AND EMERGENCY FLASHER, REGARDLESS OF POSITION OF TILT WHEEL. SOME PRIVATE OWNERS HAVE TAKEN IT ON THEMSELVES TO OPEN UP THE STEERING COLUMN AND TYPICALLY FOUND "GREEN GOO" ON THE SWITCH CONTACTS, AND SOMETIMES LOOSE WIRES, WHICH EVIDENTLY ARE THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM. WHEN THE "GREEN GOO" IS CLEANED OFF THE CONTACTS, THE SIGNALLS AND FLASHERS OPERATE PROPERLY. STORIES SOMETIMES RELATE VERY POOR SERVICE FROM FORD DEALER MECHANICS IN BEING ABLE TO DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR THE PROBLEM.
WHILE DRIVING FOR 15 MINUTES HEADLIGHTS BEGAN FLASHING FOR 5 MINUTES. *AK
2000 FORD LIGHTNING 5.4 SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT OF HEAD. *AK
I HAVE A SET OF GOODYEAR WRANGLER AP TIRES ON MY VEHICLE. THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO HAVE A TRACTION RATING OF A, BUT I BELIEVE THIS IS INCORRECT. BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE WITH THESE TIRES OVER THE PAST 24,000 MILES, TRACTION IS VERY POOR WITH THESE TIRES ON WET AND DRY SURFACES. THEY BREAK TRACTION VERY EASILY, EVEN DURING SLOW ACCELERATION STARTS. SUDDEN STOPS ON WET SURFACES ARE JUST AS POOR.
FORD F150 XL 2000. 11/28/03 COIL #2 HAD TO BE REPLACED. 07/08/03 COIL #4 HAD TO BE REPLACED. 03/06/03 COIL #3 HAD TO BE REPLACED. ON 04/05/04 MY WIFE BESSIE WAS DRIVING AND THE TRUCK STALLED. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND SHE HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE. LUCKILY, SHE DID NOT GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. SHE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, PUT THE TRUCK IN PARK, TURNED THE IGNITION OFF, THEN TURNED THE IGNITION KEY AND THE VEHICLE STARTED UP. MY WIFE WAS VERY UPSET. I CONTACTED CHAPMAN FORD REP. BOB 609-646-2000 CONCERNING THIS MATTER. HE ASKED ME IF I HAD THE VEHICLE DETAILED LATELY. I ADVISED HIM I HAD THE VEHICLE WASHED LAST WEEK. HE ADVISED ME THAT WATER PROBABLY GOT INTO ONE OF THE COILS AND IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. I DID NOT HAVE THE ENGINE WASHED. THESE COILS ARE DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE BUCKS WHEN THE COILS GO BAD AND HAS VERY LITTLE POWER. ON 07/02/03 THE SENSOR AND PROCESSOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH ON 2 OCCASIONS. I LOST COMPLETE POWER OF THE VEHICLE. LUCKILY, THERE WAS NO ACCIDENT. IT COSTS OVER $200.00 TO HAVE THE COILS REPLACED. I HAVE SPENT WELL OVER $600.00 IN COIL REPAIRS. FORD NOR CHAPMAN FORD HAVE COMPENSATED ME FOR THE DEFECTIVE COIL REPAIRS. I HAVE A TOTAL OF 8 COILS AND THEY ARE GOING BAD ONE AFTER ANOTHER. AFTER DOING EXTENSIVE INVESTIGATING GENTILLINI FORD TIM CHAMPION IN WOODBINE ADVISED ME THAT CHAPMAN FORD SHOULD HAVE FIXED THE SENSOR AND PROCESSOR FOR FREE BECAUSE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. CHAPMAN FORD CHARGED ME FOR THE SENSOR AND PROCESSOR. I COMMUNICATED WITH SERVICE MGR. JIM BAILEY @ CHAPMAN FORD FOR SEVERAL MONTHS CONCERNING THIS MATTER. CHAPMAN FORD FINALLY REIMBURSED ME FOR THE SENSOR AND PROCESSOR. *NM
PE 04 078/SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH FIRE: WHILE PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE UNDER THE HOOD. THE LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE BOTH NOTIFIED. *AK *JB
ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. MOST SIGNIFICANTLY THE TRUCK SHUT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN A ROAD AT ABOUT 50MPH. ZERO ELECTRICAL AND THE POWER STEARING WAS OUT AND I HAD TO MUSCLE THE TRUCK TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, MY WIFE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO DO THIS.I WAITED ABOUT 15 MINUTES AND IT STARTED. HAD I BEEN IN A TURN I MAY NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO TURN THE TRUCK FAST ENOUGH AND HIT ONCOMMING CARS. I TOOK IT IN TO JOHN ELWAY FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THEY COULDNT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT AND SAID THEY COULD DO NOTHING. THEY SAID THERE WAS NO ERROR CODE LOGGED IN THE COMPUTER SO NOTHING WAS DONE. TODAY, AUG 13, 2004 THE TRUCK STARTED BUT THE ODOMETER WAS NOT LIT BUT THEN LIT WHEN I BACKED OUT OF MY PARKING SPACE. MY WIFE LATER TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE STORE THEN TO A PLAYGROUND WHERE IT FAILED TO START AGAIN. THIS IS THE THIRD OCCURANCE OF THIS AND THE FORD DEALERSHIP SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. WHEN I CALLED FORD THEY AGREED THAT THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING IF THEY COULD NOT RECREATE THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, I UNDERSTAND THESE SAME TIRES ON THE EXCURSIONS ARE. WHY ARE THE SAME TIRES, WHEN INSTALLED ON F250 PICKUPS, NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL? I HAVE A 200 FORD F-150 THAT GOES INTO 4 WHEEL DRIVE BY ITSELF COULD CAUS A MAJOR ACCIDENT FORD REPAIRED IT AFTER TWO ATTEMPS AND ALMOST ONE MAJOR ACCIDENT AND TWO TOWING BILLS AND FORD DOES NOT FIX ANY DAMAGE TO THE TRANSFER CASE NOTING THE GEARS COULD BE STRIPPED AND WORE DOWN BECASE OF THIS PROBLEM AND 4X4 SYSTEMS SO OWNERS ARE LEFT WITH A LARGE REPAIR BILL DOWN THE ROAD ON THERE FOUR BY FOUR SYSTEMS TRANSFER CASE AND JOINTS SEALS AND POSSIBLE TRANSMISION DAMAGE. *AK
I OWN A 2000 F150 SUPERCAB AND THE DOORS ARE HAVING THE POPULAR CRACK NEXT TO THE WINDOW ABOVE THE DOOR HANDLE. I HAVE A FRIEND WHO OWNS A '97 AND BOTH OF HIS DOORS ARE DOING THE SAME THING. IF THESE CRACKS CONTINUE ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE DOOR FRAME THE DOOR WILL FALL APART AND WILL PROVIDE NO PROTECTION IN AN ACCIDENT. 2000 FORD F-150 TRANSMISSION GONE AT ONLY 35,500 MILES. POWER FORD DIAGNOSED AND RECOMMENDED A TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT AT $3,300.00. I HAD BOTH MAJOR SERVICES PERFORMED 15,000 SERVICE & 30,000 MILES SERVICE AND HAVE CHANGED MY OIL EVERY 3,000-3,500 MILES. I USE THIS CAR MAINLY FOR PLEASURE ON THE WEEKENDS, THUS THE LOW MILEAGE. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION WITH AN 18 WHEELER. UPON IMPACT, AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. NO INJURIES REPORTED. *AK
I BOUGHT A USED 2000 F-150 4X4 TRUCK IN OCTOBER 2003. THE VEHICLE HAD 36,000+ MILES. IT CURRENTLY HAS 43,000 MILES. I HAD THE OIL CHANGED AT A FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY REPORTED THE HEAD GASKET HAS A SEVERE LEAK. I'VE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THAT THEY HAD NO RECORD OF THE GASKET LEAKING. THIS WAS NOT A FORD DEALERSHIP. I BELIEVE THE PREVIOUS OWNER WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND TRADED THE VEHICLE. I REALIZE THIS IS A USED VEHICLE AND PROBLEMS DO ARISE, BUT THIS IS A PROBLEM FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS AWARE OF. SEE MFG. THIS IS ERGENT!!! ON 2000-2001 FORD FOCUS MODELS HAVE A TERRIBLE FAULTY IGNITION. THE TRUCK HAS 33,000 MILES ON IT AND I WAS JUST TOLD THAT IT HAS A BLOWN ENGINE GASKET - THAT IS UNBELIEVABLE FOR A NEW TRUCK. *AK
WINDSHIELD WIPERS, RADIO, DOOR LOCKS AND AIR CONDITIONING STARTED ACTING ERRATICALLY AFTER A HEAVY RAIN. EVEN AFTER TURNING VEHICLE OFF AND REMOVING THE KEY, THE PROBLEMS PERSISTED. WE HAD JUST PURCHASED THIS TRUCK FROM GOODSON ACURA OF IRVING, TX AND HAD IT TOWED TO PAYTON WRIGHT FORD IN GRAPEVINE, TEXAS DUE TO WARRANTY REQUIREMENTS. THE SERVICE MANAGER INFORMED US THAT GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE HAD BEEN DAMAGED DUE TO WINDSHIELD LEAK. A CARFAX REPORT INDICATED THAT TRUCK HAD NOT BEEN REPORTED TO HAVE ANY ACCIDENTS. THE MANUFACTURED WINDSHIELD WAS NOT COVERED IN OUR WARRANTY AND IT SEEMS WE HAVE NO RECOURSE BUT TO PAY OVER $1200.00 TO FORD TO FIX THIS SINCE THERE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE A MARKET FOR GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULES. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND WE DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO FIX IT AT THIS TIME, SO WE ARE LEFT WITH A DANGEROUS VEHICLE THAT COULD HAVE INJURED US OR OTHERS HAD WE NOT BEEN NEAR OUR HOME AT THE TIME OF OCCURRENCE. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS GENERIC ELECTRONIC MODULE, I HAVE FOUND THAT THERE HAVE BEEN SOME RECALLS ON OTHER FORD VEHICLES MADE IN 1996-2001. MANY CUSTOMERS HAVE HAD SAME COMPLAINT OF WINDSHIELD DEFECT LEADING TO CORROSION OF FUSE SYSTEM AND MODULES. I WOULD LIKE TO REGISTER THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE FORD OFFERS NO SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM WHEN I BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE WELL AWARE OF THIS DEFECT. *ANOTHER THING WE NOTICED WAS THAT THE CARFAX REPORT INDICATED THAT VEHICLE HAD 31,000 MILES ON IT IN JULY OF 2003; HOWEVER, WHEN WE PURCHASED VEHICLE THE MILEAGE WAS DIFFERENT LISTED AT 30,933. CONSUMER PARKED VEHICLE IN DRIVEWAY AT 2:30 PM. AT 5:30 PM CONSUMER WAS AWAKENED BY A POPPING SOUND OUTSIDE. WHEN CONSUMER GOT OUTSIDE THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. CONSUMER PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND ROLLED IT BACK FROM THE HOUSE. FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED, BUT THE FIRE EVENTUALLY CONSUMED THE VEHICLE.
