WHEN REVERSING INNER TIE ROD FAILED, CAUSING FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL TO LOCK UP. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
VEHICLE WAS PARKED WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENGINE CAUGHT ON FIRE DUE TO SPEED CONTROL SWITCH HAD AN ELECTRICAL SHORT. MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BY OWNER.*AK
WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. CONTACTED FORD, WHO DID NOTHING TO ASSIST THE CONSUMER. *AK
I NOTICTED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL DID NOT WORK AROUND MAY OF 2004. WE WERE TAKING A LONG TRIP AND WHEN I WOULD PUSH THE BUTTON THE CRUISE LIGHT WOULD FLASH ON AND THEN GO OFF. AFTER SEVERAL TRIES I GAVE UP ON IT THINKING I WOULD TAKE CARE OF IT LATER. ON THE MORNING OF 9/17/04 MY WIFE MOVED MY TRUCK ONTO THE STREET SO SHE COULD GOTO WORK. THAT WAS AROUND 7AM. AT ABOUT 9AM I WENT OUT TO THE TRUCK TO LEAVE AND SAW SMOKE COMING OUT FROM THE WHEEL WELL. I PULLED THE HOOD RELEASE AND OPENED THE HOOD. THE FIRE WAS COMING FROM THE PLUG AT THE REAR OF THE MASTER CYLINDER. I GRABBED A HANDFUL OF DIRT AND THREW IT ON THE FIRE CAUSING THE FLAME TO GO OUT BUT IT TRIED TO REIGNITE. I THEN UNPLUGGED THE WIRES AND IT STOPPED ARCHING. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO THE MECHANIC WHO WORKS FOR THE DEPARTMENT AND HE EXPLAINED TO ME THAT IT WAS A SENSOR FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL. WE PUT ON A NEW SENSOR DUE TO THE FACT THAT IT WAS LEAKING BRAKE FLUID AND LEFT THE WIRING HARNESS UNPLUGGED. THE DAMAGE WAS BLACK SOOT MARKS ON THE INSIDE OF THE HOOD AND A BURNT WIRING HARNESS. I HAVE NOT REPLACED ANYTHING ELSE EXCEPT FOR THE SENSOR IN THE MASTER CYLINDER.*AK
I HAVE A 2000 FORD F-150 4WD SUIPERCAB PICKUP. ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR, THERE IS A CRACK STARTING IN THE SHEET METAL. IT IS CURRENTLY LOCATED TO THE RIGHT OF THE WINDOW, UNDER THE WEATHER STRIPPING AND IS STARTING TO PROCEED OUT. CURRENTLY IT IS ABOUT 3/8" TO 1/4" LONG. THERE IS ANOTHER ONE THAT APPEARS TO BE STARTING ABOUT AN INCH ABOVE IT. I'M CONCERNED THAT THE CRACK WILL PROGRESS ACROSS THE DOOR AND THE DOOR WILL FAIL. I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. A WEBSITE CALLED WWW.F150ONLINE.COM. THERE IS NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS (22 PAGES WORTH) THAT HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. I WENT TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER AND THEY SAID THAT IT IS OFF WARRANTY AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THEY HAVE NO WAY OF FIXING IT. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS AND HELP US FIX THIS PROBLEM. AFTER THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR INSPECTION. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ABS CONTROL MODULE WIRING BECOME CORRODED AT THE MODULE AND FELL OFF. *AK *NM
I HAD A CLUNK NOISE AT APRROX 15,000 MILES WHEN I WOULD SLOW DOWN AND BEGIN A TURN. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TWICE AND THEY ASSURED ME NOTHING WAS WRONG. I THOUGHT THE NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE BACK END. PERHAPS IT WAS AND THAT WAS UN-RELATED. RECENTLY I TOOK THE TRUCK IN TO HAVE THE OIL CHANGED AND TIRES ROTATED AND BALANCED BECAUSE OF SOME VIBRATION. I WAS INFORMED OF THE TIE ROD FAILURE AND IDLER ARM FAILURE. THESE WERE BOTH SEVERE AND I WAS ADVISED NOT TO DRIVE THE TRUCK UNTIL THIS WAS REPAIRED. TWO WEEKS BEFORE THIS REPAIR I WAS MAILED AN INSPECTION ADVISORY REGARDING THE TIE ROD ENDS. *JB
CONSUMER DROVE TO DAUGHTER'S RESIDENCE, AND WAS THERE 35 TO 45 MINUTES WHEN HIS GRANDSON NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. WHEN THEY APPROACHED THE VEHICLE THEY FOUND SMOKE AND FIRE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT WHEEL WELL.*AK
WHILE SLOWING DOWN TO A STOP FROM DRIVING 55 MPH VEHICLE COMMENCED TO VIBRATE OUT OF CONTROL. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONSUMER'S HOUSE. TOW TRUCK DRIVER INFORMED CONSUMER THAT THE PROBLEM WAS A BROKEN TIE ROD. DEALER/MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED.*AK CONSUMER CALLED FORD TO MAKE A COMPLAINT. TIE ROD BROKE AS THE VEHICLE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AT A STOP LIGHT. VEHICLE REPAIRED AT CONSUMERS EXPENSE. *TC
TIE RODS AND UPPER BALL JOINTS BROKE. *AK
THE TIE RODS FAILED ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER WAS PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT MOVE. WHEN THE CONSUMER GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND LOOKED AT IT FROM THE FRONT, THE TIRES WERE POINTED INWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AFTER MARKET MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE TIE RODS WERE BAD AND NEEDED REPLACED. ALSO THE OWNER WAS INFORMED BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT THE TIE RODS NEEDS TO BE INSPECTED EVERY 15,000MI. PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB
THE CONSUMER WAS SLEEPING WHEN THE VEHICLE, PARKED UNDER THE CARPORT, CAUGHT ON FIRE AND BURNED. THE CONSUMER'S HOME WAS DESTROYED. CRUISE CONTROL NHTSA RECALL 05V017000. *NM *NM
I HAD MY 2000 FORD F150 AT THE DEALER BEFORE THE BUMPER TO BUMPER RAN OUT WITH 31000 MILES ON THE TRUCK THERE WAS RECALLS ON IT FOR THE BACK WINDOW LEAKING AND OTHER THINGS LIKE THE SPEED CONTROL I NOTICE THE FRAME AND CROSSMEMBERS RUSTING OUT AT THIS TIME THE PAINT WAS NOT DOING ITS JOB ALL THEY HAD TOO DO WAS TO PAINT IT BUT THEY REFUSED TO DO IT, NOW THERE IS A RECALL ON JUST THE FUEL TANK STRAPS WHAT ABOUT THE TANK AND THE FRAME AND CROSSMEMBERS THIS TRUCK IS A HAZARD TO BE ON THE ROAD THIS TRUCK SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED AT THE TIME WHEN I NOTICED THE PROBLEM. THE TRUCK HAS ABOUT 78000 ORIGINAL MILES ON IT NOW AND THE BODY LOOKS LIKE IT IS IN REAL GOOD SHAPE BUT THE FRAME AND CROSSMEMBERS LOOK LIKE THEY HAVE 250000 MILES ON IT. IS THERE ANYTHING THAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS BECAUSE FORD DID NOT DO WHAT THEY SHOULD HAVE DONE BACK WHEN THERE WAS ONLY 31000 MILES ON IT. I ONLY USE THE TRUCK TO GO TO THE DOCTORS AND TOW A BOAT 4 OR 5 TIMES A YEAR THE TRUCK SITS IN THE DRIVEWAY MOST OF THE TIME. TOYOTA RECALLED A LOT OF TRUCKS WITH THIS PROBLEM FRAMES RUSTING OUT BEYOND REPAIR THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE OWNERS WITH NEW TRUCKS OR REFUND THE MONEY THEY PAID FOR THEM. THE TOYOTA'S WAS ABOUT THE SAME YEAR AS MY FORD THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE STEEL THAT THEY USED FOR MY TRUCK PLEASE HELP! *TR
I HAVE A STRUCTURAL CRACK IN THE METAL ON THE LOWER REAR CORNER OF THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. IT IS CURRENTLY ONE HALF INCH IN LENGTH AND GROWING. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH AND SOME INVESTIGATION ON SIMILAR FORD F150'S I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED PROBLEM, BUT RATHER A FAIRLY COMMON ONE. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT THIS IS VERY ISSUE HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE NTSB. I CALLED FORD TODAY, AND RECEIVED THE UNSATISFACTORY ANSWER THAT, SINCE MY WARRANTY IS EXPIRED A REPAIR IS NOT COVERED. I HOPE THAT THE NTSB IS LOOKING AT THIS MATTER CLOSELY AND WILL ISSUE A DECISION ON IT SOON. I AM WORRIED THAT THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF MY VEHICLE IS COMPROMISED, AND THAT THE MANUFACTURER FORD HAS NOT TAKEN THE PROPER STEPS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THAT FORD AND THE NTSB WILL BE TO BLAME IF I OR A MEMBER OF MY FAMILY IS INJURED BECAUSE OF A DOCUMENTED DOOR FAILURE. *AK
FIRE OCCURRED IN LR QUADRANT OF ENGINE COMPARTMENT WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND NOT RUNNING. ORIGIN IS AT MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER. OWNER RELATES THAT 30-45 DAYS PRIOR TO FIRE THE CRUISE CONTROL HAD FAILED INTERMITTANTLY SEVERAL TIMES AND THEN BECAME INOPERATIVE. HAS TWO COMPLAINTS ON DIFF VEH. SEE ODI #10090873
CONSUMER NOTICED THAT WHILE DRIVING TURN SIGNALS DIDN'T WORK. DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED, AND THEY INDICATED Y VEHICLE WAS WITHOUT GUARANTY. *AK IN ADDITION TO THE SIGNAL LIGHTS NOT WORKING THE HAZARD, AND BRAKE LIGHTS DID NOT WORK. THE CONSUMER FOUND THAT LOCKING THE STEERING WHEEL IN THE UPPER MOST POSITION RESTORED OPERATION OF THE SIGNAL LIGHTS TEMORARILY. ONE MONTH LATER TOTAL LOSS OF SIGNAL LIGHTS OCCURED. THE CONSUMER REMOVED THE STEERING COLUMN SCHROUDS TO REVEIL THAT BOTH RETAINING CLIPS ON THE WIRING HARNESSS PLUG ASSEMBLY WERE BROKEN ALLOWING THE PLUG ASSEMBLY TO MOVE PARTLY IN AND OUT OF ITS COUNTERPART EACH TIME THAT THE TILT STEERING WHEEL WAS MOVED UP OR DOWN. *TC
MY 2000 F-150 CAUGHT ON FIRE AND BURNED AFTER BEING PARKED FOR 7 HOURS. THE FIRE STARTED UNDER THE HOOD AND APPEARS TO HAVE STARTED ON OR AROUND THE MASTER CYLINDER. THE TRUCK WAS A TOTAL LOSS.*AK
2000 FORD F150 CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE PARKED.*MR CAR WAS PARKED AT 7AM AND CAUGHT FIRE AT 2PM. THE IS TOTALED AND DAMAGED THREE OTHER CARS. FORD TOLD CONSUMER THAT THEY COULD NOT BE OF ANY ASSISTANCE BECAUSE THERE WASN'T A RECALL FOR THE VEHICLE YET, FOR UNDER HOOD FIRES.*SB
WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR ABOUT 3 HOURS A NEIGHBOR ALERTED CONSUMER THAT VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. BURNED FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES. FUSES #2/13, AND 14 FOUND OPERATING. CONSUMER STATED THAT CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING IN THE WEEK BEFORE THE FIRE. *AK
ON AUGUST 26, 2004 CONSUMER'S VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE IN FRONT YARD. THE CAUSE OF FIRE WAS UNDETERMINED. CONSUMER CALLED FORD, AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD HAVE SOMEONE TO INVESTIGATE THE INCIDENT. UNTIL THIS DAY FORD HAS NOT RESPONDED. CONSUMER MADE ELEVEN ATTEMPTS TO CONTACT FORD BUT STILL NO ANSWER.*AK THE BURNING VEHICLE CAUSED MAJOR DAMAGE TO ITS SURROUNDING AREA INCLUDING THE CONSUMERS OTHER VEHICLE. *TC
HUSBAND PARKED TRUCK ABOUT 12:00 AM AND AT ABOUT 3:00 PM HE SAW WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM HOOD AREA ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THEN , VEHICLE BURST INTO FLAMES. THREE DAYS PRIOR TO THE FIRE, CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING. NO OTHER PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE. WILL SEND PICTURES TO BRUCE YORK. *AK

2000 FORD F150 PICKUP TRUCK WITH APPROX. 126,000 MILES, CAUGHT FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AFTER BEING PARKED ABOUT 5 HOURS. FIRE LOCATION WAS AT THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE IS BELIVED TO BE THE SCDS (SPEED CONTROL DISENGAGEMENT SWITCH). FIRE DAMAGED TRUCK AND EDGE OF CARPORT. *AK
HUSBAND DROVE TO WORK 7 MILES, PARKED VEHICLE AT 7:20 AM, THEN AT 10:30 AM RECEIVED A CALL, TELLING HIM THAT VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. SOMEONE PUT THE FIRE OUT WITH AN EXTINGUISHER. VEHICLE WAS NOT TOTALED. PRIOR TO FIRE THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE. BOUGHT VEHICLE USED. TRIED TO USE CRUISE CONTROL, BUT COULD NOT GET IT TO WORK. NOT SURE IF WORKING OR NOT. VEHICLE WAS INSURED BY NATIONWIDE. ADJUSTER GEORGE ALEXANDER 888-593-2432, EXTENSION 13, POLICY NUMBER 7709P499619. NATIONWIDE MAY HAVE DONE AN INVESTIGATION. HAVE COPIES OF WORK ORDERS TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE, AND WILL FAX THEM TO BRUCE YORK.*AK *TC
WHILE DRIVING TURN SIGNALS FAILED TO STAY ON. ALSO, BRAKES LIGHTS FAILED WHEN BRAKE WERE APPLIED. IN ADDITION, WINDSHIELD WIPERS TURNED ON AND OFF BY THEMSELVES. *AK
FORD F150 4X4 SPORT EXTENDED CAB 5.4L V8 ELECTRICAL FAILURE CAUSED ENGINE TO SPONTANEOUSLY COMBUST INTO ROARING FLAMES. TRUCK WAS A TOTAL LOSS. TRUCK WAS NOT RUNNING NOR BEING ATTEMPTED TO START AT THE TIME. TRUCK HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN FOR 8 HOURS PRIOR TO THE FIRE. FORD MOTOR CO WILL DO NOTHING TO CORRECT OR EVEN DISCUSS THIS PROBLEM. THEY CLAIM THEIR IS NOT A PROBLEM WITH THIS TRUCK DESPITE THE 179 TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS ON THE TRUCK AND THE NUMEROUS TIMES SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION OF THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THE US DEPT OF TRANS. WHEN THE TURN SIGNAL LIGHT FLASHER FAILED TO FUNCTION WHEN ENGAGED. THE SIGNAL INDICATOR LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD DIDN'T COME ON. CONSUMER FELT THAT THIS MAY BE CAUSED BY AN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILURE BECAUSE THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ENGAGED BY THEMSELVES. DEALERSHIP WILL BE CONTACTED.*AK
UPON RETURNING FROM LUNCH, I PARKED MY 2000 F-150 EXT CAB AND TURNED OFF THE MOTOR, PLACED MY KEYS IN MY POCKET AND RETRUNED TO MY DESK TO COMPLETE THE DAYS WORK. ABOUT TWO HOURS LATER, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM A CO-WORKER INFORMING ME THAT MY TRUCK WAS ON FIRE. I IMMEDIATELY WENT OUT TO WHERE I HAD PARKED AND A FIRE TRUCK WAS ALREADY ON THE SCENE GETTING READY TO PUT OUT THE FIRE. BY THIS TIME THE FLAMES WERE SHOOTING UP ABOUT 12 FEET HIGH, THE HOOD HAD ALREADY MELTED ALONG WITH ALL OTHER ALUMINUM ON THE ENGINE BLOCK, THE PLASTICS ON THE FRONT GRILL, THE WINDSHIELD HAD MELTED AND THE INTERIOR WAS SEVERLY DAMAGED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED ALONG WITH A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY. *AK UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, AFTER THE FACT, I LATER LEARNED THAT THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH OTHER F-150 OWNERS WHERE THEIR PICKUPS ALSO HAD SPONTANEOUS COMBUSTION RESULTING IN TOTAL DAMAGE THEIR VEHICLE AND IN SOME CASES, LOSS OF THEIR HOMES.
I NOTICED A 1/2" CRACK ON THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR, NEXT TO THE POWER WINDOW. I ALSO NOTICED ALOT OF OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS SAME CRACK. I TAKE GOOD CARE OF MY TRUCK AND SEE NO REASON FOR A STRESS CRACK LIKE THIS. I FEEL THAT SINCE THERE ARE ALOT OF OTHER COMPLAINTS, FORD SHOULD FIX THIS PROBLEM AS A RECALL, ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE MAKING A KIT TO FIX THIS. I HAVE BEEN BUYING AND DRIVING FORD PRODUCTS FOR OVER 20 YRS. THIS WAS MY FIRST NEW F150 AND I WASN'T EXPECTING A PROBLEM SUCH AS THIS ONE!!*AK

PE 04 078/SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH FIRE: WHILE PARKED IN THE GARAGE, A FIRE STARTED UNDER THE HOOD. THE CONSUMER EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND THE LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED TO ENSURE THAT THE FIRE WAS COMPLETELY EXTINGUISHED. THE FIRE MARSHAL AND THE INSURANCE ADJUSTER BELIEVED THE FIRE WAS STARTED BY AN ELECTRICAL SOURCE. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT THE MANUFACTURER REPRESENTATIVE HAVE NOT ARRIVED AT THIS TIME.
MY FORD FOCUS IGNITION LOCKED UP ON MY CAR AND I HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO FORD WEST DEALERSHIP AND WAS CHARGED $40.00 FOR TOWING. I THEN HAD TO PAY $398.00 TO HAVE MY IGNITION REPAIRED WHICH SEEMS TO BE A COMMON DEFECT WITH FORD FOCUS. I SAW ON THE INTERNET WHERE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE FORD FOCUS. I FEEL THAT I SHOULD BE REIMBURSE BECAUSE IT'S NOT MY FAULT THAT THIS A DEFECT PROBLEM WITH FORD. *AK
VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE AND BURNT A PART OF THE HOUSE WHILE PARKED IN DRIVEWAY. THE FIRE ORIGINATED FROM THE LEFT QUADRANT OF THE ENGINE. THREE FIRE INVESTIGATORS INSPECTED THE VEHICLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE, BUT IT WAS INCONCLUSIVE DUE TO HOW EXCESSIVE BURNT THE ENGINE COMPONENTS WERE. VEHICLE WAS TOTALED.*AK
PURCHASED A 2000 FORD WINDSTAR LAST WEEK OF JANUARY 2004 FOR THE PRICE OF 13900.00. THE VAN WAS STORED OUT BACK FOR A WHILE, AND WAS UNDER 30,000 MILES WHEN I BOUGHT IT. THE DEALER NEVER GOT IT INSPECTED UNTIL TWO WEEKS AFTER I PURCHASED AND PICKED UP THE VEHICLE. BY JULY 2004, OUR VAN WAS IN THE SHOP REGARDING TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. THEY HAD IT FOR TWO WEEKS. UPON PICKING IT UP, THEY LEFT ME NO WORK ORDER THAT WAS DONE AND CLAIMED THEY PUT IN 4,000 DOLLARS WORTH OF WORK (VERBALLY). I THEREFORE CONTACTED A LAWYER. BY DECEMBER 2004, CHRISTMAS EVE DAY, MY TRANNY BLEW. IT WOULDN'T GO FORWARD AND YET THE MOTOR WAS RUNNING FINE. IT WOULD ONLY REVERSE. TWO AUTO TECH'S CAME TO MY RESCUE AND SAID IT NEEDS TO BE FULLY REPLACED. I HAD THE VAN TOWED AFTER THE HOLIDAYS (EVERYTHING WAS CLOSED FOR THE FOUR DAY WEEKEND). SO ON MONDAY UPON MY ARRIVAL, THE COMPANY DIDN'T WANT TO PUT IN FOR THE REPAIRS WITHOUT MY PAYING. I TOLD THEM IN SIX SHORT MONTHS SINCE JULY THE TRANNY IS GONE? FIRST REPAIR WAS AT 45 THOUSAND MILES AND THE NEXT WAS AT 60 THOUSAND MILES. I AM NOW HAVING MORE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. THEY ONLY REPAIRED IT, NEVER REPLACED IT. FOR THE PRICE I PAY FOR MY MONTHLY PAYMENTS AND THE INSURANCE AND ALL, I DON'T THINK FORD IS BEING HONEST ABOUT THEIR CARS AND FORD DEALERS ARE LOUSY TOWARDS THEIR CUSTOMERS. I FEEL VERY RIPPED OFF. ALL I WANT IS MY MONEY REFUNDED (ALL THAT I PAID IN PAYMENTS INCLUDING INSURANCE AND REPAIRS IF ANY) SO I CAN GO AND FIND MYSELF A "SAFE" RELIABLE CAR. *JB

WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN FRONT END COLLISION. UPON IMPACT, FRONT AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED,BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK THE INTERIOR LIGHTS GAVE NO PRIOR INDICATION THAT THE COMPONENTS WERE FAULTY. THE FUSES, RELAYS, AND BATTERY WERE INACCESSIBLE DURING DISMANTLING AND ONCE AGAIN, THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. *SC
CONSUMER'S VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION WITH AN SUV. AT A IMPACT OF 40 MPH NEITHER FRONTAL AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. CONSUMER WAS WEARING SEAT BELT AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH. CONSUMER REFUSED MEDICAL TREATMENT. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED.
WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED UNCONTROLLABLY. SUDDENLY THE ABS LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD AND REMAINED ON. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH STILL IN POSITION BUT FIRE DAMAGED. XRAYS OF PLASTIC SWITCH HEAD SHOW ONE CONTACT TOTALLY DESTROYED BY ELECTRICAL ARCING. FUSE FOR THE SCDS WAS BLOWN AFTER THE FIRE. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH DRIVER NOTICED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND SRS LIGHT APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD AND REMAINED ON. THE CAUSE HAS NOT BEEN DETERMINED AT THIS TIME. CONSUMER WILL CONTACT THE DEALER IN THE NEAR FUTURE. *AK
OUR 2000 FORD PICKUP, HAVING ONLY 19000 MILES ON IT. THE BALL JOINT CAME APART WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 15 MPH. THE FRONT TIRE CAME OUT OF THE WHEEL WELL. DEALER REPLACED ALL FOUR TIE RODS AND TIE ROD ENDS , SAID THEY WERE ALL BAD. KWR. *AK

2000 FORD F150 CAUGHT FIRE WHILE PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY.*MR THE FIRE MAY HAVE BEEN DUE TO A FAULTY CRUISE CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH. THE CONSUMER ALSO HAS A 2004 LINCOLN AVIATOR THAT HAS A COSMETIC SEAT PROBLEM, WHICH THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO REMEDY.*JB
UNDERHOOD FIRE IN THE LEFT REAR ENGINE COMPARTMENT. VEHICLE WAS PARKED SEVERAL HOURS BEFORE FAILURE IN A PARKING LOT. OTHERS BROUGHT THE FIRE TO THE OWNERS ATTENTION WHO WAS AT WORK. NOT REPAIRABLE.*AK

I BOUGHT MY SUPER DUTY F-250 IN EARLY MARCH OF 2000 AND MY GEM MODULE IS FAILING . I CANNOT USE MY DOOR UNLOCK BUTTONS. MY DRIVER WINDOW FAILS TO GO DOWN ALL THE WAY, AND MY KEY FOB DOESN'T WORK THE LOCKS. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT FORD HAD A RECALL ON THIS SAME MODULE UP TO THE YEAR 1999 MY TRUCK WAS ORDERED FROM THE FACTORY IN LATE DECEMBER 1999 OR EARLY 2000 AND IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS THAT THE TRUCKS UP TO 1999 ARE HAVING, BUT BECAUSE IT'S A 2000 FORD WILL NOT COVER IT.*AK
AT WORK CONSUMER PARKED VEHICLE AND ONE AND A HALF HOURS LATER SMOKE WAS SEEN COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. IT LOOKED LIKE FIRE WAS COMING FROM DRIVERS SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING ABOUT 3 MONTHS BEFORE THE FIRE. VEHICLE INSURED THROUGH ALLSTATE. *AK
FIRE WAS MINOR AND IN LEFT REAR CORNER OF ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE ONLY ITEM THAT ACTUALLY BURNED WAS THE CRUISE CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH (CCDS). THE 15 AMP FUSE FOR THAT CIRCUIT WAS BLOWN. THE SWITCH HEAD WAS PHOTOGRAPHED INITIALLY BUT WAS DAMAGED AND LOST WHEN SOMEONE VANDALIZED THE TRUCK IN STORAGE. HOWEVER, THE CONNECTOR FOR THE CCDS REMAINED AND ONE OF THE BRASS CONTACTS WAS STILL INSERTED. IT WAS MELTED OFF FROM ELECTRICAL ARCING ACTIVITY.

WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH MY 2000 F150 THE RIGHT OUTSIDE TIE ROD BROKE CAUSING DEGRADED STEERING AND UNCONTOLLABLE LERCHING OF THE VEHICLE. NO ACCIDENT. NO INJURIES.*AK THE OTHER TIE ROD WAS ALSO IN POOR CONDITION.
