THE DRIVER HAD HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. THE DRIVER HAD TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF IN ORDER TO GET IT TO STOP. PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB *MR
WHILE TRAVELING AT 35 MPH VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION, AND AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
I PURCHASED A NEW 2000 F150 PICKUP TRUCK FROM VAN BOXTEL FORD IN GREEN BAY WI. AFTER PUTTING 45000-50000 MILES I HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE WITH MY VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING INTO A PARKING LOT OFF THE STREET AND WAS TURNING INTO THE SECOND PARKING STALL WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TURN. I STOPPED AND GOT OUT OF THE TRUCK TO SEE IF SOMETHING WAS WRONG.THE FRONT TIRES WERE POINTING IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS AND I NOTICED A HISSING SOUND COMING FROM THE RIGHT SIDE FRONT TIRE. I LOOKED UNDER THE VEHICLE AND THE TIEROD HAD POKED A HOLE THRU THE TIRE AND RIM. THE VEHICLEWAS TOTALLY UNSTEERABLE. THE REPAIRS WERE 700-800 DOLLARS WHICH FORD DID NOT STAND BEHIND.WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED HAD THE TIEROD POKED THRU THE RIM AND TIRE WHEN IWAS DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.I MADE THREE CALLS TO FORD AT THEIR HEADQUARTERS, NOBODY CALLED OR RESPONDED AS REQUESTED. PEOPLE COULD BE KILLED WITH THIS TYPE OF INCIDENT.
THE REAR END BEARINGS WERE DEFECTIVE AND MAY CAUSE THE DRIVESHAFT TO DROP OUT OF VEHICLE. *AK ONE COULD HEAR A RUMBLE/WHINING NOISE UP TO 40 YARDS AWAY. THE REAR END WAS OVERHAULED. *SCC *JB
ONLY AFTER 30,000 MILES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. NOTHING SEEMED TO BE WRONG. THE LONGER THE LIGHT WAS ON THE MORE THE TRUCK STARTED TO SPUTTER AND CUT OFF WHILE IN DRIVE. AFTER BEING HOOKED UP TO A COMPUTER WE FOUND THE OXYGEN SENSOR HAS GONE BAD. *LA
THE RIGHT REAR TIRE TREAD SEPARATED WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH. THE TIRES WERE BOUGHT FOUR MONTHS AGO. THIS INCIDENT CAUSED $3500 IN DAMAGES TO THE VEHICLE. CONTINENTAL, CONTITRAC AW, 275/60R17. *AK *NLM
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR CRACK AT BOTTOM OF WINDOW STARTING AT MOLDING.*AK
I HAD A PROBLEM WITH MY STARTER AND BATTERY CABLE ON MY F150 2000. I LOOKED ON THIS SITE AND NOTICED THERE WERE OTHER REPORTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM. COST ME $500 TO REPLACE ALL PARTS. OF CORSE JUST OUT OF WARRANTY. IF THERE ARE THAT MANY PROBLEMS LIKE THIS THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL AND WE THE OWNERS SHOULDNT HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR. THANK YOU ARTHUR D.*AK
PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY "EXPLODED" IN THE LEFT REAR WHEEL OF MY VEHICLE - INCIDENT CAUSED THE ENTIRE VEHICLE TO SHUDDER AS IF THE REAR TIRE HAD EITHER BLOWN OUT OR "LOCKED" UP. *PH
TREAD SEPERATION. TREAD SEPERATED AT 55 MPH. TIRE PRESSURE HAD BEEN CHECKED 20 MINUTES BEFORE INCIDENT.
TREAD SEPARATED FROM TIRE. THE TIRE STILL HELD AIR, DAMAGE TO RUNNING BOARD, MIRROR AND FENDER. APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH DOWN INTERSTATE. NEXT DAY PASSENGER SIDE TIRE DID THE SAME EXACT THING. FIRESTONE 265/75R16 STEELTEX. *LA

I HAVE THE SAME CRACK IN MY DOOR EVERYONE ELSE HAS. WENT THROUGH A FORD LOT LAST NIGHT AND HALF THE USED 150'S HAD SAME CRACK! TALKED TO DEALER AND THEY SAID I HAD TO PAY HALF TO GET DOOR FIXED. I HAVE TO HAUL SMALL CHILDREN IN THE FRONT SEAT OF MY PICKUP AND I DO NOT HAVE A PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG SWITCH SO THAT I CAN TURN IT OFF. I AM AFRAID THAT IF I WERE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT THAT ONE OF THEM WOULD BE INJURED BY THE AIRBAG.*AK

LOWER BALL JOINT BROKE AND TRUCK FELL TO GROUND. *NLM
WHEN A BUMP OR POTHOLE WAS HIT IN THE ROAD, THE VEHICLE DID NOT STEER SMOOTH . THE DEALER INSPECTED VEHICLE SEVERAL TIMES AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE OR CORRECT THE PROBLEM.*AK PH. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE VEHICLE DRIFTED TO THE LEFT IF THE STEERING WHEEL WAS RELAXED AT ANYTIME. TIRES AND WHEELS WERE INSTALLED, HOWEVER THERE WAS NO CHANGE. *JB
THE TRANS ALWAYS FELT FUNNY BUT THE DEALER SAID IT WAS NORMAL.I HAVE HAD THE DEALER SERVICE THE TRANS EVERY 30,000 MILES AND BETWEEN SERVICES TRANS WAS DRAINED EVERY 15,000 MILES AND HAD NEW TRANS FLUID . I HAVE A ORANGE TAGED TRANSMISSION AND I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER IT HAD TO BE REPLACED.THE 4R100 TRANS AND THE E40D HAVE HAD A HIGH PREMATURE FAILURE AND FORD IN MY OPINION IS OPERATING UNDER DECEPTIVE PRACTICES BY KEEP SELLING TRUCKS WITH A KNOWN DEFECT. I WAS TOLD BY ONE DEALER THE TRANS HAS A 90% CHANCE OF FAILURE. FORD WANTS BETWEEN $3,200 AND $3,800 TO REPLACE THE TRANS.
BRAKE LIGHT PROBLEM. BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON. CONSUMER TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC ,AND WAS TOLD THAT BULBS WER FINE, BUT SHE WILL HAVE TO BRING IT BACK IN BECAUSE MECHANIC MAY HAVE TO CHANGE THE SWITCH, AND IF THAT DOES NOT WORK, SHE MAY HAVE TO TAKE IT TO A FORD DEALER/MECHANIC. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT 5MPH TIE ROD ASSEMBLY SEPARATED FROM THE BALL JOINT, FORCING THE CONSUMER TO PULL OUT OF THE ROAD. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
WE HAVE TWO 2000 F150 PICKUPS AND AT 37000 MILES THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON, I'VE HAD ONE PICKUP REPAIRED AND THE BRAKES ARE NOT THE SAME I FEEL THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL SINCE IT WAS ON TWO DIFFERENT VEHICLES. *JB
CORROSION IS APPERAING FROM HOOD SEAM. FORD BODY SHOP STATES THEY ARE SEEING SIMILAR CIRCUMSTANCES ON THESE VEHICLES WITH THE SAME SILVER PAINT. SERVICE MANAGER STATES THAT FORD WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT UNTIL IT RUSTS THROUGH. WHICH IT NEVER WILL DUE TO THE HOOD BEING ALUMINIUM.*AK
WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES ARE WARPED AND THE BRAKE PRESSURE IS LOW. *AK
ALL FOUR TIRES DEVELOPED A CRACK ON THE SIDEWALL THAT RANGED FROM 11/2 TO 6 INCHES LONG. ALL THE TIRES WERE REPLACED WITH A DIFFERENT MODEL TIRES. *AK
HIT A DEER... AFTER ACCIDENT, ABS LIGHT WOULD NOT GO OUT. I PRESUMED IT WAS ACCIDENT RELATED. WHEN BODY SHOP INVESTIGATED THEY FOUND WIRES FROM ABS UNIT HAD CORRODED AND FALLEN OFF. DEALER CONTACT SAID THEY HAVE HAD SEVERAL IN THE PAST TWO MONTHS BUT NO RECALL NOTICE HAS BEEN ISSUED YET. *NLM
VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY AND IT CAUGHT ON FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOTIFIED, AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. LATER, OWNER L STATED THAT CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT WORKING AT THAT TIME, AND THE BRAKE LIGHT FUSE KEPT POPPING. *AK RECALL CAMPAIGN; NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER : 05V017000 THE VEHICLE HAD NO BRAKE LIGHTS. *TC
MY 2000 F-150 FRONT CROSS MEMBER THAT SUPPORTS RADIATOR AND THE CAB HAS RUSTED OUT. MY TRUCK HAS 48,000 MILES. MY FORD DEALER HAS AGREED TO REPLACED FRONT CROSS MEMBER FREE OF CHARGE. EST $1,600
WHILE DRIVING MADE A LEFT TURN AND HEARD A GRINDING NOISE FROM STEERING COLUMN. WITHOUT WARNING BOTH DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S FRONT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED, CAUSING SIGNIFICANT INJURY TO CONSUMER AND DAMAGE TO VEHICLE.*AK
1995-2000 FORD PICKUP EXTENDED CAB THE DOORS CRACK ON THE OUT SIDE THAT I CAN SEE DON'T KNOW IF THERE DAMAGED INTERNALLY AND I DON'T KNOW THE CONSEQUENCES IF IT CONTINUES TO CRACK. CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY THEY SAID THEY KNEW NOTHING ABOUT IT WENT TO VARIOUS CAR LOTS AROUND INDIANAPOLIS IN. AND CHECKED OTHERS EVERYONE WAS CRACKED FORD ALSO SAID THERE IS A FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM AT OUR EXPENSE. *NM
MY F150 HAS A DOOR CRACK ON THE DRIVERS DOOR. 80 TO 90% OF 1997 THROUGH 2000 F150/250 PICKUP WILL DEVELOP THIS PROBLEM ON ONE OF BOTH OF THE FRONT DOORS. AS I DIDN'T NOTICE THIS UNTIL TWO WEEKS AFTER MY WARR. RAN OUT, FORD WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. I HAVE FOUND TWO INTERNET SITES WITH PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS ON THOUSANDS OF TRUCKS INVOLVED. THERE ARE SEVERAL TSBS FROM FORD ON THIS PROBLEM.
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE STALLED. *NLM
THE DRIVERS DOOR CRACKED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *NLM
THE CONSUMER TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF, AND NEARLY 2 HOURS LATER, THE HORN BEGAN "BLARING" AND THEN THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE UNDER THE HOOD. *JB AROUND 2 MONTHS BEFORE THE FIRE THE CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING. NEVER HAD REPAIRED.. THE CRUISE STARTING WORKING FOR ABOUT A HALF HOUR ONE DAY THEN STOPPED WORKING AGAIN. THEN THE BRAKE LIGHTS WENT OUT. ONE FUSE WAS BLOWN. REPLACED 4 FUSES AND THEY KEPT BLOWING WITH A FLASH. ON THE FIFTH FUSE I STARTED THE TRUCK UP AND IT TOOK THE FUSE WITHOUT BLOWING. THIS WAS ALL THE DAY BEFORE THE FIRE.
THE ENGINE FAILED WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE. *NLM

APPROXIMATELY 3-4 WEEKS AGO I WAS DRIVING MY 2000 FORD F150 PICKUP ON I96 DURING RUSH HOUR IN LANSING, MI. THERE WAS A SUDDEN THUNDERSTORM WITH HAIL. I TURNED MY WINDSHIELD WIPERS ON THE FASTEST SPEED AND AFTER APPROXIMATELY 2- 3 MINUTES THE PASSENGER SIDE WIPER GOT OUT OF SYNC AND JAMMED UNDER THE DRIVER SIDE WIPER CAUSING BOTH OF THEM TO STOP WORKING. TRAFFIC WAS GOING FAIRLY FAST AND I LOST WHAT VISIBILITY I DID HAVE. FORTUNATELY I WAS GOING BY AN EXIT AND COULD QUICKLY GET OFF THE EXPRESSWAY TO WAIT OUT THE STORM. WHEN I GOT HOME FROM WORK I TOOK THE COVER OFF THE PASSENGER WIPER AND HAD TO TIGHTEN THE NUT THAT HOLDS IT ON. THEY HAVE WORKED FINE SINCE THEN BUT I WOULD NOT WANT TO HAVE THIS SAME THING HAPPEN TO SOMEONE ELSE IF THEY ARE ON AN EXPRESSWAY DURING A THUNDERSTORM. (PS: THE INCIDENT DATE I BUT ON THE FORM IS APPROXIMATE. I DIDN'T THINK OF REPORTING THIS UNTIL I HEARD AN NHTSA COMMERCIAL TODAY SAYING TO REPORT SAFETY INCIDENTS.). *NLM
NAR 04/10/2003 THE CONSUMER IS NOT COMPLAINING, BUT ATTEMPTING TO QUESTION THE QUALITY OF THE PRODUCTS USED TO FIX THE VEHICLE. THE PRODUCT USED WAS A CABLE CLAMP HOWEVER THE CONSUMER FELT THAT THE CLAMPS SHOULD NOT BE USED TO REPLACE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT AND FOUND IT UNSAFE BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN A CONSISTENT PROBLEMS WITH IT. *CB
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES PER HOUR I LOST STEERING. WHEN I GOT THE TRUCK STOPPED AND LOOKED UNDER IT I FOUND THE RIGHT TIE ROD HAD SEPARATED. THE TIE ROD HAD STRIPPED THREADS WHERE IT CONNECTS THROUGH THE ADJUSTMENT SLEEVE, THE ADJUSTMENT SLEEVE ALSO HAD STRIPPED THREADS.*JB
FAILURE OF TRANSMISSION AT 58000 MILES. UPON INSPECTION, A STICKER WAS FOUND ON THE TRANSMISSION THAT CLAIMED IT WAS ELIGIBLE FOR REPLACEMENT THE YEAR OF PURCHASE. TRUCK WAS PART OF THE 'SOLD AS HEAVY DUTY BUT WE WILL GIVE YOU A REBATE BECAUSE IT IS NOT REALLY HEAVY DUTY' SCAM. *AK

I WAS TRAVELING IN NEUTRAL, DOWNHILL, AT ABOUT 40MPH THROUGH A SHALLOW TURN AS I WAS EXITING A HIGHWAY. WHEN I PUT THE TRUCK IN 4TH GEAR TO ACCELERATE, I HAD NO POWER. THE TACHOMETER WAS AT ZERO AND I TRIED TO TURN ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS AND BEGIN BRAKING, BOTH FAILED TO WORK. I HAD NO LIGHTS OR ANY OTHER ELECTRICAL POWER (IT WAS DAYLIGHT) I DOWNSHIFTED AND TURNED TO EASE OFF THE ROAD, I HAD NO POWER STEERING, THEN THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED. I HALTED THE TRUCK WITH THE E BRAKE ONCE I WAS SLOW ENOUGH AND ON THE EDGE OF THE ROAD. I TRIED TO RESTART IT SEVERAL TIMES BUT NOTHING WOULD HAPPEN. THE TRUCK HAD ZERO ELECTRICAL POWER. AFTER ABOUT 15 MINUTES IT STARTED BACK UP AS IF NOTHING WAS WRONG. WHEN I GOT IT TO JOHN ELWAY FORD IN DENVER CO, THE MECHANICS SAID THE COMPUTER DIDN'T LOG ANY ERRORS AND THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I CONTACTED FORD AND THEY REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING. I CONTACTED THE BBB AND THEY JUST REITERATED FORDS POLICY. THE PROBLEM HAS NEVER BEEN FIXED SINCE NO ONE CAN FIND THE REASON FOR IT. IT HAS HAPPENED ONE OTHER TIME TO ME IN 2007 (I THINK). *TR

ALL 5 DOORS ARE RUSTED THROUGH ON A 2.5 YEAR OLD TRUCK. THE DOOR STRUCTURE IS SO WEAK THAT THEY MAY FALL OFF SOON. *JB
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FAILED 1,700 MILES OVER 36,000 MILE WARRANTY. PULLED OUT OF STOP STREET, NO 3RD GEAR, VEHICLE RACED AS IF IN NEUTRAL. FIRST AND SECOND GEAR OK, REVERSE OK. PULLED TRANS OIL DIPSTICK, NO DARK DEPOSITS ON STICK, OIL NOT BURNT.*JB

SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT OF HEAD ON A FORD LIGHTNING (COMPLETELY STOCK, NEVER MODDED). THIS ISSUE IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH 5.4L MOTORS, AND IS A $2000-$3000 REPAIR THAT TYPICALLY HAPPENS AFTER THE MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY IS EXPIRED. MINE HAPPENED AT 39,000MI.
