I AM EXPERIENCING WHAT FORD DESCRIBES AS CRACKS IN THE DOOR SHEET METAL ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. THIS MAY BE DUE TO THE REPEATED USE OF POWER WINDOWS LEADING TO METAL FATIGUE. THE TRUCK ISN'T BUT 2 YEARS OLD; THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN.
SPARK PLUGS THREADS STRIP AND SHOOT PLUG OUT
2000 FORD F-150 LARIAT 4 X 4 WINDSHIELD LEAKS. AS A RESULT OF THIS LEAK THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS SPORADICALLY GO ON. THE SWITCH IS OFF BUT THE WIPERS JUST COME ON. I HAVE TO PULL THE FUSE SO IT WILL NOT HAPPEN. WHEN IT RAINS I HAVE TO PUT THE FUSE BACK IN SO THEY WILL WORK.*JB

WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, VEHICLE WAS HIT FROM THE FRONT CENTER AND NONE OF THE FRONTAL AIRBAGS DEPLOYED UPON IMPACT, RESULTING IN THE PASSENGER BEING INJURIED. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE DETAILS. TS
THERE WAS GRAVEL ON THE ROAD AND CONSUMER APPLIED BRAKES AND VEHICLE DID A 360 DEGREE TURN AROUND, VEHICLE FLIPPED OVER FOUR TIMES. UPON IMPACT, DUAL AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. *AK

FRONT DISC BRAKE ROTORS REPLACED AFTER 60,000 MILES. ROTORS TOO WORN/GROOVED TO BE REPAIRED.*AK
WAS TRAVELING WHEN I NOTICE THAT THE TRUCK LOCKS WERE NOT WORKING. I HAVE THIS AUTOMOBILE DUE TO THE FACT THAT ONCE YOU START AND TAKE OFF THE LOCK ON THERE OWN. I HAVE A FEW FRIENDS WITH THE SAME TRUCK AND WE ALL ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. TALKED TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT IT WAS NOTHING WRONG, BUT I AM STILL HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE KEYLESS ENTRY NOT WORKING TO UNLOCK OR LOCK THE DOORS. IT'S LIKE THE MOTORS ON BOTH DOORS IS BAD AT THE SAME TIME.*AK
2000 FORD CONTOUR SPORT SE. DASHBOARD HAS WARPED TO THE POINT WHERE IT IS INTERFERING WITH THE WINDSHIELD DEFROSTING PROCESS. THE WARPING CAUSES PART OF THE DASHBOARD TO PRESS UP AGAINST THE WINDSHIELD TRAPPING WARM AIR UNDERNEATH AND NOT ALLOWING WARM AIR TO REACH THE WINDSHIELD DRIVER VIEWING AREA. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION. VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 76,000 MILES. PROBLEM BEGAN AT ABOUT 50,000 MILES. *JB
I HIT A DITCH- THE AIRBAG ONLY DEPLOYED ONE FOURTH OF THE WAY--THE BAG INSTANTLY CAUGHT FIRE. HAD I BEEN IN A WRECK, THE AIRBAG WOULD NOT HAVE SAVED MY LIFE. HAD I BEEN KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS, I WOULD HAVE BURNED ALIVE. I FEEL THAT THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE LOOKED INTON AS LIVES COULD BE LOST.*AK

DRIVING ON FLAT DRY 4 LANE HIGHWAY. HEARD SMALL NOISE AND WITHIN 20 SECONDS FELT TRUCK PULLING SLIGHTLY LOOKED IN MIRROR AND SAW THE TIRE TREAD PEEL OFF THE TIRE. COMPLETE TREAD SEPARATION OCCURED. TIRE DEALER NOTED NO DEFECTS TO THE TIRE AND NO INDICATION OF HITTING ANYTHING. ROADS WERE CLEAR AND DRY TEMPERATURE WAS ABOUT 25F. AIR BAG DID NOT INFLATE DURING CRASH. NEITHER OF THE VEHICLES AIR BAGS DEPLOYED UPON SEVERE FRONTAL IMPACT. AS A RESULT THE CONSUMER WAS INJURED. THE CONSUMER IS QUESTIONING THE AIR BAGS OF FORD VEHICLES, INCLUDING 2000, AND THOSE MANUFACTURED IN CANADA. *MR *CB *NLM

WILL BE WATCHING TO SEE IF DEALER MAKES AIRBAG/SENSOR SYSTEM REPAIR/ADJUSTMENT, OR RETURNS TO OWNER AFTER BODY/ENGINE/OTHER REPAIR WITH SAME FAULTY PASSIVE RESTRAINT SYSTEM UNFIXED.*AK
VEHICLE WAS STRUCK IN THE NEAR FRONTAL LOCATION DURING A COLLISION, THE AIRBAGS NEVER DEPLOYED AND THE SEATBELT DID NOT RESTRAIN CONSUMER, CAUSING HIM TO BE THROWN FORWARD AND SUSTAIN INJURIES, CONSUMER STATES THAT THE FRAME WAS BENT SO BADLY, IT CAUSED A HUMP IN THE FLOORBOARD, THE CAB OF THE TRUCK WAS SHIFTED ON THE CHASSIS. *SLC
SEAT BELTS IN REAR SEATING AREA IS NOT ABLE TO RETRACT OR AT TIMES COME LOOSE FROM RETRACTING, CAUSING CONSUMER TO BE STUCK IN THE SEAT BELT, AND HAVING TO CUT OFF THE SEAT BELT TO GET OUT.*AK
TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS: CLUTCH DOES NOT WANT TO DISENGAGE PROPERLY. DRIVER MUST ATTEMPT TO CHANGE GEARS REPEATEDLY IN ORDER TO SHIFT. THIS PRODUCES DANGEROUS DRIVING PROBLEMS. IGNITION PROBLEM: FREQUENTLY ON START THE IGNITION SWITCH FAILS TO TURN ON ALL EQUIPMENT AND ABS BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON. REPORTED TO LOCAL DEALER AND WAS TOLD TO JIGGLE THE SWITCH. UNACCEPTABLE. HORN PROBLEM: IN HAZARDOUS DRIVING SITUATIONS, ATTEMPT TO SOUND HORN IS IMPOSSIBLE SINCE AREA OF STEERING WHEEL THAT WILL CAUSE HORN TO SOUND IS EXTREMELY SMALL. THIS RESULTS IN DANGEROUS DRIVING CONDITIONS
WE HAE A 2000 FORD F350 THAT WAS RECENTLY IN AN ACCIDENT AND THE BODY SHOP FOUND THAT IT HAD PRIOR DAMAGE. WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THIS VEHICLE HAD PRIOR DAMAGE. THE PRIOR DAMAGE MAKES THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS IT HAS THE WRONG CAB ON IT AND THE WRONG CAB HAS BEEN WELDED ON, AS YOU CAN SEE THE WELDING MARKS UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK, AND ALSO THE SEAT BELTS HAVE BEEN BOLTED IN AND NOT DRILLED IN, BUT THEIR ARE MANY DRILLED HOLES IN THE BOTTOM OF THE TRUCK CAB. THE BODY SHOP FEELS THAT THE TRUCK IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN THE WELDING COULD COLLAPSE. WE HAVE PICTURES OF THE PREVIOUS DAMAGE ALONG WITH TWO WITNESSES. WE HAVE NOTIFIED MID STATES FORD AND ALSO FORD MOTOR COMPANY WITH A LONG LIST OF THINGS THAT HAVE HAPPENED SINCE JUNE 9TH, 2003. MID STATES FORD HAS NOT CONTACTED US SINCE DENNIS CONTACTED THEM ON JULY 8TH AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD GET RIGHT BACK TO US. FORD MOTOR COMPANY HAS NOT CALLED US BACK SINCE OUR LAST NOTE TO THEM LAST WEEK. WE JUST WANT SOME ANSWERS BEFORE SOMETHING ELSE HAPPENS. WE ALSO WOULD LIKE SOME RESOLUTIONS TO THIS PROBLEM.
STRONG VEHICLE VIBRATION DURING BRAKE APPLICATION, ESPECIALLY DURING DOWN HILL BRAKING. CALLED CORNING FORD DEALERSHIP, WHERE I BOUGHT TRUCK NEW. THEY REFUSED TO HONOR ANY WARRANTY WORK ON BRAKE PROBLEMS WITH THAT MANY MILES ON TRUCK. CALLED CUSTOMER 800# - THEY ALSO REFUSED REPAIR COVERAGE. TOOK TRUCK TO SCHWAB TIRE IN REDDING, CA.( IT'S THIRTY+ MILES TO SCHWAB TIRE FROM MY HOME. IT?S ALMOST EIGHTY MILES ONE WAY TO CORNING FORD FROM MY HOUSE.)SCHWAB TELLS ME THAT VEHICLE VIBRATION ON BRAKE APPLICATION INDICATES WARPED ROTORS. AFTER FIVE TRIPS TO SCWAB TIRE FOR ROTOR TURNS, THEN COMPLETELY REPLACING ALL FOUR ROTORS....NOTHING STOPPED VIBRATION. BY NOW THE VIBRATION IS MUCH MORE SEVERE THAN WHEN IT FIRST STARTED. DURING THE WHOLE HISTORY, FROM 43,958 MILES TO THE PRESENT 74,762 THE VIBRATION/SHAKING HAS NEVER GONE TOTALLY AWAY. THE LAST THING SCHWAB DID WAS REPLACE ALL FOUR SETS OF BRAKE PADS, EVEN THOUGH THEY DIDN'T NEED IT. BY THEN SCHWAB WAS COMPLETELY OUT OF IDEAS. I FINALLY TOOK THE TRUCK TO CORNING FORD, HOPING IT WAS POSSIBLY COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. IT WAS. CORNING FORD SERVICE MANAGER, STEVE LOWERY, SAT ME DOWN AND EXPLAINED TO ME WHAT WAS WRONG!!! FORD MOTOR CO. REFUSES TO ADMIT THEY HAVE A DESIGN FLAW IN THEIR BRAKE SYSTEM. CORNING FORD DOES NOT DENY THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKING DESIGN. FIRST, THE BALL JOINTS WORE OUT. THEN, AND MORE IMPORTANT, THE PROBLEM IS THE FRONT WHEEL HUBS/BACKING PLATES ARE TOTALY SEALED AFTER ASSEMBLY. THERE ISN'T ANY WAY TO LUBRICATE/SERVICE THE BEARINGS AT REGULAR INTERVALS. THE SEALS EVENTUALLY DRY OUT AND THE BEARING LUBRICANT/GREASE SEEPS ON TO THE HUB ASSEMBLY ON ONLY THE INBOARD BRAKE PAD. THIS THEN MEANS THAT DURING BRAKE APPLICATION, THE INBOARD PAD IS SLIPPING AND ONLY THE OUTSIDE PAD IS APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE ROTOR. THE OUTSIDE ROTOR IS HAVING TO WORK HARDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND IS CREATING UNNECESSARY HEAT ON THE ROTOR, THUS WARPING THE ROTOR.
LEFT REAR WHEEL FELL OFF THE PICKUP. DAMAGING REAR DISC AND AXLE. I WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH WHEN THIS HAPPENED. THE VEHICLE HAS HAD A VIBRATION PROBLEM AT 65 MILE PH VARYING IN INTENSITY. THE DEALER REPLACE THE DRIVE AXLE, WHEEL, CALIPER/DISC AND BRAKE LINES FREE OF CHARGE. THE VIBRATION AT 65MPH STILL CONTINUES. THE DEALER HAS STATED THE VIBRATION IS WITHIN ALLOWABLE LIMITS AS DETERMINED BY THE MANUFACTURER. I HAVE HEARD OTHER HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THIS 2000 F150 5.4 L ABS 4 WHEEL DISC BRAKE VEHICLE WITH TOW PACKAGE. CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT END COLLISION THAT RESULTED IN DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG FAILING TO DEPLOY. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE COLLISION OCCURRED BECAUSE THE BRAKES LOCKED UP. THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL MAKES NOISE. *YH
SHEET METAL IS CRACKED AT THE LOWER RIGHT SIDE OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW AREA. IT LOOKS LIKE A STRESS FRACTURE FROM THE ACTION OF THE WINDOW GOING UP AND DOWN, DURING NORMAL OPERATION. DT
CRACK IS THROUGH PAINT. NO SAFETY DEFECT. *AK
WHILE SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY, WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED, FROM TOP TO BOTTOM, FOR NO APPARENT REASON. VEHICLE WAS NOT RUNNING. I CONTACTED FORD SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THEY DIDN'T COVER GLASS. REPAIR PERSON BELIEVES IT WAS A STRESS CRACK.*AK
3 OF THE 5 TIRES ON THE TRUCK WHEN IT WAS PURCHASED HAVE DEFLATED DURING USE. ONE TIRE TORE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WE HAVE NOTIFIED FORD, FIRESTONE AND THE DEALER OF THE PROBLEMS AS THE SITUATION HAS PROGRESSED, WITH NO ACTION TAKEN. *AK (DOT NUMBER: VN081RC TIRESIZE: P235/70R16)
EXHAUST FUMES SEEP INTO CAB CAUSING CONSUMER TO FALL ASLEEP. CONSUMER FELL ASLEEP ONCE AND WOKE UP AFTER HITTING A GUARDRAIL. LEAK WAS SO BAD THAT CONSUMER HAS TO LEAVE WINDOW CRACKED TO DRIVE. DEALER FOUND LEAKS IN JOINT OF THE PIPE. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO DEALER 5 TIMES, AND MUFFLER WAS REPLACED TO HELP BACK UP.*AK
METAL PANELING FOR DRIVER DOOR IS CRACKING RIGHT BELOW THE WINDOW. BOTH DOORS KEEP JUMPING OUT OF ALIGNMENT MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO CLOSE THE DOORS, AND IT IS ALSO SCRATCHING THE EXTERIOR PAINT. ALSO, METAL ROOF IS BEGINNING TO COLLAPSE IN ON PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. DEALERSHIP INFORMED CONSUMER THAT STRESS ON PASSENGER COMPARTMENT COULD BE CAUSING THESE PROBLEMS, BUT CANNOT DETERMINE WHAT IS CAUSING THE STRESS. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / DOCUMENTATION.*AK
ABS LIGHT CAME ON. ADVISED COULD BE DRIVEN BUT ABS WOULD NOT WORK. RETURNED HOME AND TOOK TO ORIGINAL DEALER. THEY ADVISED LEFT REAR SENSOR AND THE ABS BRAKE CONTROLLER WERE DEFECTIVE. REPAIRS WILL COST MORE THAN $700 AND PARTS WOULD BE SHIPPED IN OVERNIGHT. EIGHT DAYS LATER, THERE IS STILL NO PARTS.*AK
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONTAL COLLISION WITH A 1998, PONTIAC, FIREBIRD AT APPROXIMATE 40 MPH IMPACT. BOTH AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DEALER/MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED. *AK ONE PERSON WAS INJURED IN ACCIDENT, VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS. *SLC
THE STANDARD TRANSMISSION GRINDS GOING INTO THIRD ALL THE TIME AND GOING INTO FIRST SOMETIMES. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE 40,000 MILES. AFTER MANY TRIPS TO THE DEALER, I FINALLY FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THEY WOULD DO NOTHING FOR ME. I LOVE THE TRUCK, BUT HATE THE TRANSMISSION.*AK
AIR CONDITIONER SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED EACH SEASON AFTER FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP. 8/9/01 O RINGS REPLACED, 3/20/02 REPLACED EVAP. COIL, BOTH UNDER WARRANTY. 4/25/03 COMPRESSOR, ACCUMULATOR ETC. $730.00 WORTH OF REPAIR WITH WARRANTY EXPIRED. CONTACTED FORD REP. AND GOT DISCOUNT.
THE COLLISION TOTALED BOTH VEHICLE--FRONT END OF THIS TRUCK IS PUSHED INTO ENGINE COMPARTMENT ENGOUGH THAT IT BROKE WINDSHIELD--NEITHER OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED
THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE FRONT END OF THE TRUCK PUSHED THE ENGINE IN ENOUGH, THAT IT HAD BROKEN THE WINDSHIELD, AND NEITHER OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. (BOTH VEHICLES IN THIS ACCIDENT WERE TOTALED) FORD/F150/2000 SCC
WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN DRIVEWAY AROUND 6:00 PM AND AROUND 2 :00 AM VEHICLE HAD CAUGHT ON FIRE. CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND FORD HAD NO INFORMATION. CONSUMER HAD TO DEAL DIRECTLY WITH DEALERSHIP.*AK
TIRES ARE ORIGINAL TO TRUCK. ON DATE OF INCIDENT, I STEPPED FROM THE TRUCK, AND WHILE WAITING FOR PERSON GLANCED AT LEFT FRONT TIRE AND NOTICE SOMETHING WRONG WITH TREAD. I CHECK WITH FINGERS TO PROBE AND FOUND 4 INCH SEPARATION 2 INCHES IN FROM OUTSIDE EDGE OF TREAD. SEPARATION WAS IN FIRST TREAD CHANNEL AT EDGE OF RAISED AND RECESSED POINT. THE STEEL BELT WAS VISIBLE. I CAUGHT THE DEFECT PRIOR TO FURTHER DAMAGE. I NOTIFIED DEALER AND INSTRUCTED TO DRIVE TO NAMED TIRE FACILITY. DEALER REFUSES TO MAKE GOOD AS SAID THAT STEELTEX A/T TIRES NOT ON FORD/FIRESTONE RECALL LIST. I ADVISED DEALER AND IN FACT REPLACED ALL FIVE TIRES ON VEHICLE. NOTIFIED THE DEALER OF THE PROBLEM . THE FIRST PERSON NAMED TOM SAID THAT I HIT A CURB THE PERSON AT THE NEXT DEALER LOCATION SAID HE WOULD REPLACE THE TIRE AND THAT SOMETHING WAS PROBABLY WRONG INSIDE . THE SIDEWALL HAD A LARGE BUBBLE AND APPEAR AND IT GREW FROM THE THREAD TO THE RIM AT THE TIME THER WAS ONLY 9500 MILES ON THE TRUCK . THIS TRUCK IS DRIVEN BY VERY FEW PEOPLE . MY ESTIMATE OF MILEAGE PUT ON FROM OTHERS DRIVING THIS TRUCK IS AROUND 500 MILES THE REST ARE MINE. I DON'T FEEL THAT I SHOULD HAVE BEEN CHARGED FOR A TIRE THAT HAS 90% MORE WEAR LEFT . THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH WITH THE TIRE AND EVEN THOUGH THEY WORKED WITH ME A PROBLEM DOES EXIST AND THIS SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO . WAS DRIVING VEHICLE 25MPH ON BACK ROAD WHICH WAS SLIGHTLY TO THE LEFT. STARTED TURNING STEERING WHEEL TO FOLLOW ROAD, AND HAD NO STEERING. HAD TO SLAM ON BRAKES TO STOP, BUT VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP IN TIME. VEHICLE KEPT STRAIGHT, AND WENT UP AN EMBANKMENT. THIS CAUSED VEHICLE TO FLIP OVER. OWNER TRIED TO BRACE HIMSELF BY PUTTING ARM OUT, AND VEHICLE ROLLED OVER OWNER'S HAND. HAD EMERGENCY TREATMENT. *AK THE PITMAN ARM CAME LOOSE FROM THE STEERING BOX. *SLC
