I WAS DRIVING MY FORD F150 PICK UP TRUCK AND HEARD SOMETHING LIKE I DROPPED AN EXHAUST PIPE. LUCKILY I WAS DRIVING SLOWLY ABOUT 20-25 MPH. I STOPPED AND GOT OUT TO SEE WHAT HAD HAPPENED. MY GAS TANK THAT I HAD JUST FILLED THE OTHER DAY FELL OFF. BOTH STRAPS BROKE AND I WAS DRAGGING THE TANK ON THE GROUND. I HAD IT TOWED TO MY HOUSE FOR REPAIR. AFTER NOTICING THAT THE FUEL FILL PIPE HAD RUSTED OFF NEAR THE TANK AND BOTH STRAPS HAD FAILED. I DECIDED IT WAS TO MUCH FOR MYSELF TO REPAIR. I BELIEVE I NEED A NEW GAS TANK AND NEW STRAPS. FUEL WAS THROWN UP UNDER MY TRUCK. I CONTACTED FORD BUT THEY WERE OF LITTLE HELP. PROBABLY NOT GOING TO BUY ANOTHER ONE. A TEN YEAR OLD TRUCK THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN TO! THERE WAS NO FIRE BUT I'M REALLY GLAD I DIDN'T HAVE MY GRANDSON IN THE TRUCK OR THAT I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE FUEL TANK FELL TO THE GROUND AND BEGAN LEAKING FUEL; FIRE SPARKS BEGAN TO ERUPT. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL TANK STRAPS HAD RUSTED WHICH CAUSED THE TANK TO FALL. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 195,000.
I OWN A 2000 FORD F 150 THAT I BOUGHT USED BACK IN FEBRUARY. WE GOT IT HOME AND CHECKED IT OUT AND FOUND THE BROKEN STRAP. WE HAVE ONE FUEL TANK STRAP THAT IS RUSTED AND BROKE. THE OTHER ONE IS RUSTED BUT NOT BROKE AS OF NOW. *TR
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT APPROX 45 MPH WHEN THE FRONT END OF THE GAS TANK FELL ON THE ROAD. WHEN TRUCK WAS PLACED ON TOW TRUCK IT WAS OBVIOUS THE STRAPS HAD BROKEN HOLDING THE GAS TANK ONTO THE TRUCK. DUE TO THE GAS TANK FALLING TO THE GROUND OTHER PARTS WERE DAMAGED AS WELL.
MY 2000 FORD F-150 WAS IN FRONT OF MY DOCTOR'S OFFICE WHILE I WAS INSIDE FOR A DR. APPT. MONDAY, JANUARY 31, 2011. WHILE WAITING, THE RECEPTIONIST TOLD ME SHE THOUGHT MY TRUCK WAS ON FIRE. SMOKE WAS BILLOWING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD, BUT NO FLAMES WERE SEEN. THE FIRE DEPT. WAS CALLED, AND ONE OF THE FIREMEN TOLD ME THE ORIGIN OF THE FIRE WAS FROM THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH ON THE FRONT OF THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER. HE TOLD ME HE WAS AWARE OF A FORD RECALL ON THAT PART. I WAS NEVER MAILED ANY RECALL NOTICES!! THE FIRE MELTED THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH/WIRING, MELTED THE PLASTIC BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR, AND ALSO DAMAGED THE MASTER CYLINDER. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP. THIS IS MY FAMILY'S ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION, SO I ASKED FOR A LOANER OR RENTAL CAR WHILE MY TRUCK WAS BEING REPAIRED. THEY ARE REFUSING TO PAY FOR THE COST OF A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE AND ALSO, THEY ARE REFUSING TO REPAIR ANY ?RELATED DAMAGES? (BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR) AS A RESULT OF THE FIRE CAUSED BY THEIR DEFECTIVE PART. THEY SAID THEY WOULD ONLY MAKE REPAIRS ON THE RECALL PART BUT NOT REPAIRS TO RELATED DAMAGES? (BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR) CAUSED BYTHE FIRE. WHY AM I EXPECTED TO PAY FOR EXPENSES INCURRED BECAUSE OF A DEFECTIVE PART THAT WAS RECALLED BY FORD? THE RECALL IS A PAINFULLY OBVIOUS ADMISSION OF NEGLIGENCE THEY NEED TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DAMAGES CAUSED TO MY TRUCK, AS WELL AS THE INCONVENIENCE AND HARDSHIP OF NOT HAVING A MODE OF TRANSPORTATION FOR MY FAMILY. WE ARE NOW A ONE INCOME FAMILY, (I LOST MY JOB 2 MONTHS AGO WHILE IN THE HOSPITAL) AND WE DO NOT HAVE MONEY TO PAY FOR THESE EXPENSES. LET ALONE OUR MONTHLY BILLS! I NEED IMMEDIATE RESOLUTION AND I AM NOT GETTING ANY COOPERATION OR ASSISTANCE FROM FORD'S CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP SERVICES DEPARTMENT. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE AND I WILL NOT ACCEPT THEIR LACK OF CONCERN OR ATTENTION TO MY URGENT SITUATION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 F150 WITH GOODYEAR WRANGLER TIRES, LINE SIZE LP265/70/R17. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIRES WERE PURCHASED AS A REPLACEMENT. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH AND APPLYING THE BRAKES FOR A TRAFFIC STOP, THE DRIVERS SIDE TIRE WENT FLAT. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED WITH A SPARE. THE FOLLOWING DAY THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE WAS ALSO FLAT. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE SIDE WALLS WERE WEARING, CAUSING THEM TO GO FLAT PREMATURELY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED HIM THAT THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 150,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS SMOKE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. THE CONTACT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS NOT CALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE CRUISE CONTROL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MECHANIC ALSO CONFIRMED THAT THE FIRE WAS CAUSED BY A FAULTY CRUISE CONTROL . THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER; HOWEVER, IT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL OF THE VEHICLE BUT HIS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 220,000.
APPROXIMATELY (5:45 PM) ON MON.,1- 24-11. I WAS COMING HOME HAD FUELED UP MY TRUCK (THEN AT 3/4S FULL) FOR WEEK WHEN I NOTICED A SCRAPING/DRAGGING SOUND COMING FROM REAR OF THE TRUCK JUST AFTER CROSSING A DOUBLE RR-TRACK ON A PAVED TWO LANE ROAD. NOWHERE TO PULL OVER AFTER A WET SNOWFALL ON NARROW SHOULDER, I PUT ON 4-WAYS AND CREPT TO THE NEAREST DRIVEWAY AT A DRUGSTORE. I EXITED TRUCK TO CHECK OUT THE NOISE, TO MY SHOCK I SAW MY FORWARD END OF FUEL TANK WAS ON THE GROUND AND SPILLING FUEL. I CALLED 911, POLICE AND FIRE (EQUIPPED TO STABILIZE THE FUEL SPILL) AND A TOW COMPANY WERE SENT TO ASSIST. A REPORT WAS MADE BY THE LOCAL POLICE. THE TRUCK WAS THEN TAKEN BY MY REQUEST TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE IT HAD BEEN PURCHASED NEW. NEXT DAY: THE DEALERSHIP QUOTED AN ASTRONOMICAL PRICE FOR REPLACEMENT OF DAMAGED PARTS & LABOR (1600-2000). AFTER RESEARCH HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO ANOTHER FACILITY FOR THE REPAIRS WHICH WERE COMPLETED THE SAME WEEK BY THAT THU. EVENING. I DO HAVE THE DEFECTIVE PARTS IN MY POSSESSION (FUEL TANK STRAPS). THIS WAS OUT OF POCKET (EXCEPT FOR THE ORIGINAL TOW; INSURANCE REIMBURSED 50.) HAD TO BARROW AND REFUEL A VEHICLE AS WELL TO GET TO WORK. DUE TO SOME FORD MOTOR CO. CONNECTIONS THROUGH MY BUSINESS CLIENTS I HAVE RECEIVED A PHONE CALL FROM THEIR CORPORATE OFFICES FOR WHICH I HAD A 30 MIN. CONVERSATION WITH A REP. WHO NEEDED A WEEK TO RESEARCH MY VERBAL COMPLAINT. THIS PERSON DID TRY TO CALL ME BACK ON THU.2-10-11 BUT I WAS NOT AVAILABLE (DUE TO MY WORK HOURS). IN THE FIRST PHONE CALL I SPOKE OF MY KNOWLEDGE OF FORD RECEIVING A LETTER FROM (ODI) BACK IN 9-24-10. IF THEY KNEW WHY WASN'T THIS PROBLEM CHECKED IF MY TRUCK HAD BEEN IN & OUT OF A FORD SERVICE FACILITY THE LAST 3 MO.'S OF 2010. I MADE IT KNOWN THAT I WOULD BE FILING A COMPLAINT WITH YOUR ADMINISTRATION AND I WOULD BE WARNING EVERYONE I KNOW FOR FEAR THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN TO OTHERS. GAS TANK STRAPES RUSTED, CAUSING THE GAS TANK TO FALL FROM TRUCK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REFUELING THE VEHICLE, HE NOTICED THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS HANGING ABNORMALLY BECAUSE THE STRAPS WERE CORRODED AND FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED OR REPAIRED FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 151,788. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 149,000.
MY STRAPS THAT HOLD MY FUEL TANK HAS RUSTED (ROTTED OF). I HAVE NOW GOT A STRAP HOLDING MY FUEL TANK UP UNTIL I CAN GET THESE REPLACED. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A HUGE ISSUE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT ONE OF THE SPARK PLUGS WAS FRACTURED. THE SPARK PLUG WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 86,000.

2000 F-150 FORD 5.4 LITER CONTINUES TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE #5 IGNITION COIL KEEPS MISFIRING. I'VE HAD THIS PROBLEM DX BY MY LOCAL MECHANIC OVER THREE YEARS AND HE HAS REPAIRED IT. IT COST JUST UTTER $200 EACH TIME TO FIX IT. I HAVE RECEIPTS. TODAY HE SAID TO CONTACT THE DEALER TO SEE IT THERE IS A RECALL. *TR
FUEL TANK STRAPS RUSTED AND FELL OFF OF THE TRUCK. THE PART WAS MOST LIKELY OF POOR QUALITY AS THE TRUCK IS 10 YEARS OLD. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE EXCURSION AT A SPEED AROUND 35 MPH, HEARD A VERY LOAD POP NOISE FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND LOST POWER FROM THE ENGINE AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED TO A STOP. HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP FOR TROUBLE SHOOTING PURPOSE. THEY TOLD ME THE NUMBER 7 SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT FROM THE HEAD. THE FIX WAS EITHER A HELI-COIL OR A NEW HEAD. THE HELICOIL COST WAS 900 DOLLARS AND THE HEAD WAS 4500 DOLLARS. READING THIS SITE AND MANY MORE THERE IS A SERIOUS ISSUE WITH A WIDE VARIETY OF SIZES FROM FORD MOTORS WITH THE SPARK PLUG BLOWING OUT. I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT WILL TAKE FOR A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. I GUESSNOTHING GETS DONE UNTIL SOMEBODY IS KILLED. *TR
FORD F-150 HEATER BLEND DOOR MODEL YEAR 97-04 IS DEFECTIVE, CAUSING INOPERABILITY OF WINDSHIELD DEFROSTER AND ICED OVER WINDSHIELD INTERIOR RESULTING IN NEAR TOTAL LOSS OF DRIVER VISIBILITY DURING FREEZING CONDITIONS WITH SNOW. FORD IS ON NOTICE OF THIS PROBLEM. AS OF 12-10-2010 I WAS AT WORK AND WAS WALKING TOWARD THE TRUCK AND NOTICE THE GAS TANK WAS HANGING.I CALLED MY BOSS AND TOLD HIM THE SITUATION.SO I TOOK A RACHET STRAP AND STRAP IT UP.DROVE OVER SIXTY MILES HOME TO LOCAL AUTO STORE AND PICKED UP NEW STRAPS.AS I WAS REPLACING STRAPS I NOTICE A STRONG ODOR OF GAS.ALSO WHEN REPLACING THESE STRAPS THAT I NOTICE ALOT OF RUST ON GAS TANK WHERE GAS STRAPS WERE PLACED.WANTED TO TAKE A WIRE BRUSH TO IT BUT WAS AFRAID OF THE WIRE BRUSH PUTTING A HOLE THROUGH IT.ALSO MAYBE A SPARK AND KABOOM.BESIDES THAT TOOK THE TRUCK TO DEALERSHIP AND SERVICE ADVISOR CAME TO US AND TOLD US THAT GAS TANK HAS 3 HOLES IN TANK AROUND FRONT STRAP AND IS TO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE.HE SAID THAT HE WOULD GET AHOLD OF FORD AND MORE THAN LIKELY THEY WOULD PUT US IN A RENTAL AND FIX TANK.HE COMES BACK AND SAID THEY WOULD NOT FIX.HE TOLD US THAT WE HAVE A CASE.SO CALLED FORD AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE ONLY WAY THEY WOULD FIX THE TANK IF IT WOULD DROP TO THE GROUND.I SEE THAT AS A PERSONAL SAFETY ISSUE FOR ME AND PEOPLE BEHIND ME.FORD SHOWED NO CONCERN AND THAT BOTHERED ME.BUT SINCE THE TANK DROPPED I HAVE SMELT GAS AND THE DEALERSHIP NOTICED THE CORROSION AND RUST UNDER THE STRAPS AND FORD STILL DID NOT CARE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS BRAKE LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE SPORADICALLY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE ABS MODULAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE COULD BE DRIVEN, BUT WOULD HAVE TO BE DRIVEN SLOW IN INCLEMENT WEATHER BECAUSE THE MODULE FAILED. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F150. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FILLER NECK WAS LEAKING GASOLINE SIMILAR TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 06E056000 ( FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE FUEL TANK STRAP WAS ALSO CORRODED WHICH ADDED TO THE FAILURE. THE DEALER OR MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED NOR WAS THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 210,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 202,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
AFTER I FILLED UP WITH GAS, I SMELLED GAS. AFTER THIS HAPPENED A COUPLE OF TIMES, I NOTICED GAS DRIPPING FROM THE TANK. UPON INSPECTION, I NOTICED THAT THE LEAK WAS NEAR THE FILLER NECK, BUT THE ROOT CAUSE WAS THAT ONE OF THE TANK STRAPS WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED AWAY, THE OTHER IS SEVERELY CORRODED; THE LEAK AT THE NECK IS BECAUSE THE WEIGHT OF THE TANK IS BEING SUPPORTED BY THE NECK. I SEE THAT SEVERAL DOZEN CASES HAVE OCCURRED WHERE THE TANK HAS FALLEN OUT OF THE TRUCKS GOING DOWN THE ROAD, AND THE "CRACK STAFF" AT NHTSA HAS BEEN "STUDYING" THIS SINCE SEPTEMBER TO SEE IF THIS IS A "SAFETY CONCERN", BUT THEY ARE EITHER TOO INEPT, TOO CORRUPT, OR TOO LAZY TO DO THEIR JOBS. THIS IS THE SAME LACK OF CONCERN FOR AMERICAN CONSUMERS THAT ALLOWED PEOPLE TO DIE FROM THE TOYOTA SUDDEN ACCELERATION ISSUE. TAKE YOU R TIME GUYS, YOU ARE ONLY PLAYING ROULETTE WITH HUMAN LIVES!!!!! 2000 FORD WINDSTAR SEL -THE ACTIVE CONTROL LIGHT GOES ON SLIGHT BUMPS OR ROUGH ON HIGHWAYS-GOES OFF, BUT RECENTLY AFTER THE REAR AXLE RECALL AND CHECK OF BY DEALERSHIP ON OCT 4, 2010, OUR CAR HAS ON MORE THAN THREE OR FOUR TIMES WENT INTO THE ACTION CONTROL MODE WHEN THE LIGHT ON DASH WENT ON --AND THIS AT HIGH INTERSTATE OR PARKWAY SPEEDS OF 65 MPH, AND ON DRY SURFACES---IT HAS , I GUESS, BECAUSE OF DRY-NON SLIP CONDITIONS CAUSED DIFFICULTY IN MAINTAINING CONTROL OF VEHICLE. ON SECONDARY SLOWER SPEED HIGHWAYS ONLY THE LIGHT HAS GONE ON --NO REAL NOTICE OF ENGAGING OF ACTIVE CONTROL ACTION, SO TO SPEAK. PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, I HEARD A LOUD BANG AND A DRAGGING SOUND. I GOT OUT OF MY VEHICLE TO SEE WHAT I HAD BACKED INTO, BUT COULDN'T SEEN ANYTHING. I WENT TO GET BACK INTO MY VEHICLE AND HEARD SOMEONE SAY, "SOMETHING IS HANGING UNDER YOUR TRUCK". WHEN I GOT OUT AND LOOKED, I SAW THE GAS TANK LAYING ON THE GROUND. UPON INSPECTION, BOTH STRAPS HAD BROKEN AND THE FUEL LINES WERE THE ONLY THING HOLDING IT TO THE TRUCK. THIS OCCURRED ONLY ONCE SO FAR. THE TRUCK IS A 2000 F150 WITH 150,000 MILES ON IT. I REPLACED THE TWO STRAPS AFTER PURCHASING THEM FROM A DEALER. I WAS SHOCKED TO SEE THAT A 24 GALLON TANK WAS HELD UP BY TWO SMALL METAL STRAPS ATTACHED TO THE FRAME BY A BOLT ON ONE SIDE, AND A TWIST LOCK (IF YOU CAN CALL IT THAT) ON THE OTHER. I HOPE FORD HAS FOUND A BETTER WAY TO ATTACH THESE ON THEIR NEWER VEHICLES, ESPECIALLY 4-WHEEL DRIVE. *TR

BOTH GAS TANK STRAPS HAD FAILED AND THE GAS TANK WAS DRAGGING ON THE GROUND AND LEAKING GASOLINE, LUCKILY THEY STOPPED, AND THE TANK DID NOT EXPLODE.THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED OUT. THE REPAIR SHOP SAID THAT THE STRAPS WERE RUSTED AND CORRODED WHICH CAUSED THE STRAPS TO FAIL. MY GRANDFATHER SAID THAT THE DEALER HAD INFORMED HIM THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD GARAGE KEPT IT, AND HE HAS ALSO KEPT IT IN A GARAGE SINCE HE HAD PURCHASED IT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH WHEN SPARKS WERE SEEN IGNITING FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT FOUND THAT BOTH FUEL TANK STRAPS WERE CORRODED AND FRACTURED, CAUSING THE FUEL TANK TO DRAG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY, FUEL TANK STRAPS, FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY, FUEL TANK FILLER NECK ASSEMBLY, FUEL TANK VALVE, FUEL LINE, AND THE FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR WOULD ALL NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. OUR 2000 F150 PICKUP EXPLODED AFTER BEING PARKED FOR APPROXIMATELY 36 HOURS. THE RECALL ON THE CRUISE CONTROL HAD SUPPOSEDLY BEEN REPLACED AT A FORD DEALERSHIP A COUPLE OF YEARS EARLIER. MY HUSBAND AND I WERE OUT OF TOWN AT THE TIME BUT FORTUNATELY MY MOTHER WAS HOME AND HEARD THE BIG BOOM AND CALLED 911 FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. SHE THEN WENT DOWN TO OUR HOUSE AND USED A GARDEN HOSE TO KEEP THE GRASS AND SURRONDING AREA WET SO THAT OUR HOME WOULD NOT CATCH ON FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS BUT THANKFULLY MY HUSBAND WASN'T DRIVING IT WHEN IT HAPPENED AND MY MOM WAS AT HOME TO HELP PREVENT OUR HOUSE FROM CATCHING FIRE ALSO. WE FEEL BLESSED THAT ALL WE LOST WAS THE TRUCK AND NOT OUR HOME OR LIFE. THE TRUCK WAS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE AND WELL MAINTAINED . THIS INCIDENT MAKES US WONDER IF THE FORD DEALERSHIP ACTUALLY REPLACED THE PART UNDER RECALL.
MY BROTHER AND I EACH PURCHASED NEW 2000 FORD F-150 PICKUPS IN JUNE OF 2000. ON AUGUST 27, 2010 I NOTICES THAT THE REAR STRAP ATTACHING MY FUEL TANK TO THE VEHICLE HAD BROKEN. THIS PICKUP BLEW THE SPARK-PLUG IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED, MECHANIC THEY HAD TO TAKE THE HEAD OFF TO MAKE SURE THERE WAS NOTHING INSIDE. IT COST ME AROUND 750.00 TO FIX IT, WHICH WAS CHEAP . BUT NOW 8-2014 IT HAPPEN AGAIN ON DIFFERENT SPARK-PLUG . MY TRUCK WAS OUT OF THE STATE WHEN THIS HAPPENED. MY SON AND HIS FRIENDS WERE COMING BACK TO TUCSON ARIZONA WHEN THIS HAPPENED.TRUCK HAD TO BE TOWED TO MECHANIC SHOP WHICH HE RETREADED THE PLUG HOUSING ON HEAD, CHARGED 400.00 TO FIX IT . DROVE OFF AND IT BLEW ON SAME SPARK-PLUG THAT WAS FIXED, NOW THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE NEW RING THAT WAS SUPPOSE TO HOLD SPARK-PLUG IN PLACE FELL IN CYLINDER WHEN SPARK-PLUG BLEWOFF. MECHANIC WANTED TO CHARGE 1,500 DOLLARS TO FIX PUT IT WOULD TAKE ONE WEEK TO FIX IT. BUT DUE THAT EVERYBODY HAD TO RETURN TO TUCSON, BECAUSE OF WORK PICKUP HAD TO BE TOWED AT A COST OF $2,000.00.NOW HEAD HAS TO BE TAKEN OFF TO GET THE TAPPED RING OUT AND FIX THE HEAD. I OWN A 2000 FORD F150. APPROXIMATELY A MONTH AGO, I NOTICED ONE SIDE OF MY FUEL TANK WAS HANGING DOWN. I WENT TO SALVAGE YARD AND OBTAINED A STRAP OFF ANOTHER F150 AND REPLACED THE BROKEN ONE. THE OTHER SIDE IS RUSTED AS WELL, BUT HAS HELD SO FAR. *TR
I HAVE HAD 2 SPARK PLUGS BLOW OUT OF CYLINDERS, ONCE WHILE DRIVING AND ONCE WHILE IT WAS IDLING IN THE DRIVEWAY. THE SPARK PLUGS WERE TORQUED IN USING A TORQUE WRENCH, BUT WORK LOOSE WITH TIME. I HAVE TO CHECK THE TIGHTNESS OF THE PLUGS EVERY SIX MONTHS OR THEY WILL LOOSEN UP AND BLOW OUT. I HAVE HELICOILS PUT IN FOR THE THREADS, BUT IT IS $400 EACH TIME IT HAPPENS. *TR

2000 FORD F150 SPEED CONTROL SWITCH WAS FAULTY AND BURNED THE TRUCK TO THE GROUND, BURNED THE CAR AND HOUSE IT WAS PARKED NEXT TO. *TR
MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR SEVERAL DAYS ON A PARKING LOT NEXT TO MY RESIDENCE AND I WAS NOTIFIED BY EMPLOYEES FROM A NEARBY BUSINESS MY VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. SMOKE WAS OBSERVED COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD, HOWEVER NO FLAMES WERE OBSERVED. THE ORIGIN OF THE SMOKE WAS DETERMINED TO BE FROM THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH LOCATED ON THE FRONT OF THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER. THE HEAT FROM THE FIRE HAD MELTED THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH AND WIRING AND HAD ALSO MELTED THE PLASTIC BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR. THE VEHICLE ALSO HAS NO BRAKE LIGHTS OR TURN SIGNALS DUE TO THE FIRE. FORD HAS REFUSED TO REPAIR ANY DAMAGE ASSOCIATED FIRE CAUSED BY THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH. FORD STATED THEY WOULD ONLY PERFORM WORK ASSOCIATED WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL RECALL AND NOT REPAIR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED BY THE DEFECTED SWITCH. *TR
JUST TURNED OFF HWY ONTO GRAVEL ROAD. FELT A JOLT AND THOUGHT I HAD A FLAT TIRE. PULLED OVER AND UPON INSPECTION NOTICED THE FUEL TANK STRAPS HAD BROKEN AND I WAS DRAGGING THE FUEL TANK DOWN THE ROAD. DUE TO BEING ON GRAVEL THERE WERE NO SPARKS AND NO FIRE. TANK WAS RUINED AND HAD TO REPLACE THAT ALONG WITH BOTH STRAPS. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL NOT RE-SET SINCE THE INCIDENT AS WELL.

HAD TO BE DISPATCHED, AND I HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TANK AND STRAP SYSTEM AT A COST OF OVER $800.00. THE LOCAL FORD DEALER THAT DID THE REPAIR DID NOT MENTION ANYTHING ABOUT A KNOWN PROBLEM. UPDATED 08/04/11 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE STRAP FURTHEST TO THE FRONT WAS THE ONLY STRAP THAT BROKE AND CAUSED THE FORWARD PART OF THE TANK TO DRAG. THE BREAK APPEARED TO BE IN THE CENTER OF THE STRAP ON THE BOTTOM FACING THE ROAD. THE ENTIRE METAL PART OF THE STRAP WAS EXTREMELY CORRODED. THE REAR WAS SIMILAR, BUT SEEMED TO HAVE ADDED SUPPORT FROM THE FILL NOZZLE AND CAP ASSEMBLY.
