TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK AND THE BRAKES BECAME INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000. ...UPDATED 07-08-15 *BF
THE PROBLEM STARTED WITH THE VEHICLE NOT STARTING AND THE BATTERY APPEARING TO BE DEAD. BATTERY WAS REPLACED AND NOW THE ELECTRICAL ISSUES ARE WIDESPREAD AND OUT OF CONTROL. THE RADIO, WIPERS, DOME LIGHTS AND DASH LIGHTS GO OFF AND ON AND THE STARTER TRIES TO START THE TRUCK AFTER IT IS RUNNING. I HAVE BEEN LOCKED OUT OF THE TRUCK DUE TO THE LOCKS ENGAGING ON THEIR OWN AND I HAD TO PULL OVER IN A SEVERE RAINSTORM DUE TO THE WIPERS THAT ALL OF A SUDDEN STOPPED WORKING. IT HAS BEEN ROOT CAUSED TO BE WATER INTRUSION INTO THE VEHICLE FROM THE WINDSHIELD GETTING INTO THE FUSE BOX AND THE GEM MODULE IS NOW BAD. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS AND IT VERY FRUSTRATING TO KNOW THAT THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE YEAR IS WELL KNOWN FOR THIS ISSUE. I HAVE READ LITERALLY A THOUSAND COMMENTS OF PEOPLE HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE WITH NO RESOLUTION FROM FORD. NO RECALL WAS ISSUED AND WE HAVE TO SPEND A LARGE SUM OF MONEY TO FIX A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS AND SIMILAR VEHICLES. NOW THE FORD DEALER IS TELLING ME THE GEM MODULE HAS BEEN ON BACK ORDER FOR MONTHS AS THEY ARE RESOURCING THE PRODUCT, SO I CAN'T EVEN GET THE PARTS TO FIX IT. I AM FORTUNATE THIS DID NOT RESULT IN A SEVERE ACCIDENT OR FIRE.
TWO ISSUES: 1] BOTH REAR DOORS IN THE EXTENDED CAB (SWING COUNTERCLOCKWISE) DOOR LATCHES JAMMED PREVENTING EXITING OR ENTRY. IF EGRESS WAS NEEDED QUICKLY, IT WAS NOT THERE. THE COST TO REPAIR EACH WAS ABOUT $450. (LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING) 2]SPEED CONTROL DOES NOT WORK - FORD SAYS IT IS A MALFUNCTIONING CONTROL THAT COST ABOUT $500 TO REPLACE. WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE AND THE SPARK PLUG WAS BLOWN OUT OF THE ENGINE. COULD HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE. NEVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPING BEFORE UNTIL THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER TOLD ME HIS EXPEDITION WITH A TRITONV8 DID THE SAME THING. DEALER WANTED $700 TO FIX THE SPARK PLUG AND $1200 TOTAL TO REPLACE ALL COIL PACKS AND PLUGS WHICH IS RIDICULOUS FOR A NON-CUSTOM PICK UP TRUCK. WHAT IF MY WIFE WOULD HAVE BEEN DRIVING AND NOT KNOWN WHAT TO DO? IT COULD HAVE CAUGHT FIRE OR CAUSED A CRASH. THE DEALER RATTLED OFF THE ESTIMATE LIKE THEY DO IT ALL THE TIME WHICH TELLS ME THIS IS A DEFECT IN MANUFACTURING AND WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN RECALLED?
EXHAUST MANIFOLDS HAVE DEVELOPED HOLES IN THEM. I BELIEVE FORD'S SUPPLIERS PROVIDED INFERIOR MATERIALS IN THEIR CASTING OF THE MANIFOLDS. THIS NOT ONLY OFFERS MORE POLLUTION TO THE ATMOSPHERE BUT IS A POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARD. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN WELL CARED FOR AND HAS ONLY 37000 ORIGINAL MILES. I HAVE VEHICLES BUILT IN THE 1950 AND THEIR EXHAUST MANIFOLDS CONTINUE TO FUNCTION. I BELIEVE A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES IS IN ORDER AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY SHOULD MAKE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS AT THEIR EXPENSE. UPDATED 10/01/15*LJ *CN
I WAS DRIVING TO THE OFFICE, AND APPROACHED A RED LIGHT SO I STARTED SLOWING DOWN. ONCE I REACHED 15 MPH MY 2002 4.2 L F150 ACCELERATED EXTREMELY HIGH. I WAS APPLYING THE BRAKE BUT THE TRUCK WAS STILL SLOWLY MOVING, SO WITH MY FOOT STILL ON THE BRAKE I TURNED INTO THE OFFICE PARKING LOT. I TRIED TO PUT IT IN PARK BUT IT WAS A STRUGGLE, I CALLED MY DAUGHTER OUTSIDE WHEN I WAS IN THE OFFICE PARKING LOT, AND SHE TOLD ME THE REAR TIRES WERE SPINNING. WHEN I FINALLY GOT IT IN PARK I TURNED THE TRUCK OFF. I GAVE IT APPROXIMATELY ONE MINUTE AND TURNED THE TRUCK BACK ON, AND IT WAS STILL ACCELERATING EXTREMELY HIGH SO I TURNED THE TRUCK BACK OFF SO IT WOULDN'T DAMAGE MY ENGINE. AFTER AN HOUR I TURNED THE TRUCK BACK ON, AND THE TRUCK WAS BACK TO NORMAL. AFTER DOING A BIT OF RESEARCH I SAW TONS OF ARTICLES WITH INSTANCES SIMILAR TO MINE, SO I DISCONNECTED THE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH AND TOOK IT TO THE NEAREST SHOP. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT 15 MPH CYLINDER #5 SPARK PLUG LIBERATED IT SELF FROM THE ENGINE. *TR
THE SPARK PLUGS WERE BLOWN OUT OF THE HEADS; THE THREADED PORTION OF THE HEAD WAS STRIPPED; HELI COILS WERE USED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM; THIS HAPPENED THREE TIMES NOW IN LESS THAN A MONTH. *TR
I BACKED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY WITH NO ISSUES. I GOT TO WORK AND PARKED MY TRUCK. LATER THAT NIGHT I WENT TO MOVE MY TRUCK TO THE FRONT OF THE WAREHOUSE AND MY TRUCK WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE. WHEN IT IS IN NEUTRAL AND I PRESS THE GAS THE TRUCK WILL MOVE FORWARD. IN THE PAST WEEK I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY, STARTER RELAY SOLENOID WHICH SITS ON THE FIREWALL, AND THE NEUTRAL SAFETY SWITCH OR TRANSMISSION GEAR CONTROL SOLENOID AS I HAVE HEARD IT CALLED. NONE OF THIS HAS FIXED MY TRUCK AND I DO NOT THINK IT SHOULD BE GOING OUT AT 109,XXX MILES. LOW INCOME AND RELY HEAVILY ON MY TRUCK TO GET AROUND. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR WINDSHIELD WAS LEAKING WATER INTO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT UNLATCHED INDEPENDENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
THERE'S A RECALL ALREADY FOR THE FUEL TANK STRAPS IN THE SALT BELT STATES.I LIVE ABOUT 20 MILE FROM TENN.IM SEATING AT MY JOB AND LOOKED OUT THE WINDOW AND MY FUEL TANK STRAP BROKE.THE TANK WAS ABOUT 2 INCH ABOVE THE ROAD.CALL FORD AND THEY SAID ITS NOT COVERED.IM IN THE MOUNTAINS AND WE USE ROAD SALT EVERY YEAR.WHAT MAKES TEN ANY DIFFERENT.THIS COULD HAVE BEEN BAD IT STARTED DRAGGING ON THE ROAD WHILE I WAS DRIVING.WHER THE STRAP RUST.IT CAUSED THE FUEL TANK TO RUST.NOW THE TANK IS LEAKING SAME PLACE THE STRAP RUSTED.HELP. *TR
THIS IS THE SECOND OCCURRENCE OF THIS NATURE. THE PREVIOUS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY IN JULY OF 2014. AT THAT TIME THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THE KEY WAS THE PROBLEM AND I PAID FOR A NEW KEY AND EVERYTHING HAS BEEN GOOD UNTIL ~ 1/4/15. THIS TIME, THE PATS (ANTI-THEFT) SYSTEM TRIGGERED AND RENDERED THE VEHICLE USELESS. AFTER ~ 45 MINUTES IT EVENTUALLY STARTED AND I DROVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. IT WAS THERE FOR 2 DAYS AND THEY COULDN'T GET THE SYSTEM TO TRIGGER. THEREFORE, THEY HAD ME COME PICK UP THE VEHICLE. TWO DAYS LATER, THE VEHICLE RENDERED ITSELF USELESS AGAIN THROUGH THE PATS SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T START FOR 2 DAYS AS I TRIED TO START IT PERIODICALLY AS I WAS INSTRUCTED BY THE DEALERSHIP. FINALLY IT STARTED ON THE 3RD MORNING. WHEN I ORIGINALLY TOOK THE TRUCK IN THE TWO GUYS AT THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN THIS YEAR MODEL. IN FACT WHEN I TOLD HIM OF THE ISSUE I WAS HAVING, THE SERVICE MANAGER ASKED IF I HAD A 2002 F150. WE HAD A GOOD LAUGH WHEN I SAID "YES, AND THAT ISN'T A GOOD SIGN THAT YOU KNOW THAT- WITHOUT SEEING MY VEHICLE." HE EXPLAINED THAT THE TILT MECHANISM IN THE STEERING COLUMN DAMAGES THE WIRE THAT RUNS FROM THE KEY TRANSPONDER AREA TO THE SENDING UNIT THAT TELLS THE ENGINE THAT THIS IS THE CORRECT KEY. THIS WAS THE NIGHT THAT THEY KEPT THE TRUCK FOR 2 DAYS. THIS IS A SITUATION WHERE A PERFECT OPERATIONAL VEHICLE IS NOT FUNCTIONING BECAUSE OF A CHAFFED WIRE OR THE WIRE HAS BEEN PULLED FROM ITS SOLDERING POINT. I AM THE OWNER, YET I HAVE THE SAME CHANCE OF STARTING THAT TRUCK AS A CAR THIEF. IT MAKES NO SENSE. THIS DIDN'T SEEM LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE TO ME UNTIL I WAS STRANDED FOR 45 MINUTES IN A PARKING LOT AND IT WAS EXTREMELY COLD. I ENVISIONED SOMEONE TURNING THEIR CAR/TRUCK OFF FOR SOME REASON IN A PLACE WHERE THE TEMP WAS WELL BELOW FREEZING AND FREEZING TO DEATH BECAUSE THIS SYSTEM HAS BEEN TRIGGERED. *TR
DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY A SPARK PLUG CAME OUT OF THE ENGINE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SHAKE AND LOOSE POWER. THE DEALER AND A SHOP I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO STATED THAT THIS IS A FREQUENT PROBLEM WITH THIS ENGINE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 FORD F-150. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, SMOKE APPEARED UNDER THE HOOD AND THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.

I OWN TWO FORD SUPER CABS AND BOTH TRUCKS THE BACK PASSENGER DOORS FROZE SHUT. ON ONE I PAID OVER $500 FOR THE PARTS AND THEN HAD A MECHANIC REPAIR THE DOORS AND I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WOULD LAST FOR APPROXIMATELY FIVE YEARS. ON THE ONE I LISTED ABOVE I WENT ON YOU TUBE AND THEY HAVE VIDEOS HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY SAY THAT ALL FORD TRUCK SUPER CABS, I.E. F150, F250, AND F350 THE REAR DOORS WILL EVENTUALLY FREEZE UP. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD FOR THE BACK SEAT PASSENGER. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THEY USED A PLASTIC CONNECTOR FOR THE TERMINAL OF THE RELEASE CABLE INSTEAD OF ONE MADE OF METAL. THE PLASTIC DETERIORATES IN THE HEAT WHICH DOES NOT ALLOW THE CABLE TO PULL THE RELEASE MECHANISM FAR ENOUGH.

2002 F150 HARLEY DAVIDSON EDITION WITH ONLY 75,000 MILES BLEW A SPARK PLUG OUT OF THE HEAD. FORD ADMITS NO CULPABILITY EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE TSB'S. ESTIMATE TO REPAIR PLUG & CHANGE OUT OTHER 7 SPARK PLUGS WITH 8 NEW COILS WAS $2800. I COULD ALMOST PURCHASE A NEW ENGINE FOR THAT. FOUND A REPUTABLE GARAGE TO DO THE WORK FOR AROUND $900 TOTAL. UNDERSTAND THAT I SHOULD GET USED TO THIS HAPPENING UNTIL ALL 8 SPARK PLUG HOLES HAVE BEEN REPAIRED. FORD MAN FOR 35 YEARS. OWN 3 CURRENTLY. IF DEPENDABILITY IS NO LONGER A PRIORITY FOR FORD DON'T KNOW WHAT I WILL DO. *TR

HAVE NOTICED THAT THE TURN SIGNALS AND TAILBED BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT WORK WHEN MOVING THE TILT WHEEL. WILL WORK WHEN STEERING WHEEL IS PLACED IN HIGHEST POSITION. HAVE SEEN RECALL ON RANGER TRUCKS FOR THIS ISSUE. *TR
TREAD SEPARATION ON LEFT REAR TIRE ON INTERSTATE 10 EAST NEAR JACKSONVILLE, FL CAUSING TRUCK TO SLIDE INTO OTHER LANE AND DAMAGING FENDER WELL AND REAR FENDER. TIRE WAS PURCHASED IN 2008 AND HAD SAFE LEVEL OF TREAD REMAINING.
I PARKED THE VEHICLE AND 20 MINUTES LATER DISCOVERED THE VEHICLE ON FIRE. FURTHER INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT MASTER CYLINDER WAS TOTALLY ENGULFED IN FLAME. THE FIRE DAMAGED THE WIRE HARNESS, AIR FILTER, FUSE BOX AND COMPLETELY MELTED THE CYLINDER. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2002 FORD F-150 VIN # ([XXX]) DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 45MPH WHEN IT STARTED WHEEL HOPPING FROM THE REAR VERY BAD, THERE WAS A SCHOOL BUS STOPPED LETTING CHILDREN OFF & AS I WAS BRAKING IT WAS HOPPING & WAS A NEAR MISS, THIS WAS CLOSE. I PULLED THE TRUCK OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO INSPECT AS I AM MECHANICALLY INCLINED & RETIRED, FOR THE FIRST 10 YEARS OF MY LIFE I WORKED IN THE AUTOMOBILE FIELD BECAUSE I HAD SCHOOLING FOR IT, ANYWAY I LOOKED UNDER THE TRUCK & SPOTTED THE PROBLEM RIGHT OFF THE BAT, BOTH REAR CENTER LEAF SPRINGS ARE BROKEN BIGGER THAN CRAP. I AM 54 AND A DIE HARD FORD FAN AND HAVE BEEN SINCE THE AGE OF 16, THAT IS ALL I HAVE OWNED & I AM THINKING ABOUT SWITCHING BRANDS BECAUSE THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME I HAVE BEEN DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS TRUCK. I AM THE SECOND OWNER, I BOUGHT IT IN 10/2004 WITH 13,000 MILES. IT HAS NEVER HAD ANYTHING OVER 100 POUNDS HAULED IN IT AND I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS DRIVEN IT SINCE I BOUGHT IT. TL* THE CONTACT'S FATHER OWNED A 2002 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WITHOUT WARNING. WHILE IN A PARKING LOT, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND SPUN OUT OF CONTROL. THE DRIVER STRUCK A CURB TO AVOID CRASHING INTO OTHER VEHICLES IN THE PARKING LOT. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE WENT AIRBORNE AND STRUCK A TELEPHONE POLE, BUT CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED UPON TOUCHING THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE THEN DROVE OVER ANOTHER CURB AND CRASHED INTO SOME BUSHES. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL TREATMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND PLACED IN STORAGE. THE CONTACT'S FATHER NO LONGER OWNS THE VEHICLE BECAUSE HE IS DECEASED DUE TO UNRELATED CIRCUMSTANCES. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED LATER OF THE CRASH. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. *TT UPDATED 9/19/18*JB
TAKATA RECALL. WHILE I WAS DRIVING I NOTICED A LOUD POP AND MY TRUCK STARTED VIBRATING AND SPUN ME SIDEWAYS GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. I HAD FOUGHT IT UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO GET IT UNDER CONTROL AND COME TO A STOP. (I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH THAT NOBODY ELSE WAS HEADING IN MY DIRECTION BECAUSE THE TRUCK TOOK UP BOTH SIDES OF THE ROAD). I GOT OUT AND LOOKED TO SEE WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND SEEN MY ALUMINUM FORD FACTORY RIM HAD BUSTED INTO PIECES. TAKATA RECALL. A PROBLEM THAT I AM HAVING AS OF RIGHT NOW IS SPARK PLUGS KEEP FLYING OUT AND DESTROYING MY COIL PACKS. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME IT HAS DONE THIS.

WHILE BACKING INTO MY TRUCK STARTED MAKING A LOAD NOISE, IT WAS OBVIOUS IT WAS IN THE FRONT END. TRYING TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL, IT WAS STUCK. STOPPED THE TRUCK, LOOKED UNDER THE FRONT OF TRUCK AT STEERING, I NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A HOLE IN THE FRAME, IT WAS THEN THAT I SAW THE STEERING LINK, AGAINST THE RIGHT CV AXLE. THE IDLER ARM HAD SOME HOW RIPPED OFF THE FRAME, LEAVING NA HOLE WHERE THE IDLER ARM WAS, THE FRAME OF THE TRUCK HAD WEAKENED, CAUSING THE METAL TO WEAKEN AND SEPARATE, THANK AGAIN FORD. *TR

WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, I PUSHED THE ON BUTTON FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL AND PUSHED THE SET/EXCEL BUTTON AT 70 MPH. AFTER A MINUTE OR SO I LOOKED DOWN AND WAS GOING 75 AND ACCELERATING. I TAPPED THE BREAK WHICH HAD NO EFFECT. I TAPPED THE BREAK SEVERAL MORE TIME BUT THE TRUCK KEPT ACCELERATING. I PUSHED THE OFF BUTTON SEVERAL TIMES WHILE CONTINUING TO PUMP THE BREAK. THE CRUISE CONTROL FINALLY WENT OFF. SEVERAL MILES DOWN THE ROAD I TRIED TO USE THE CRUISE CONTROL AGAIN WITH THE SAME RESULTS. MY TRUCK IS A 4.2L V6 AND HAS HAD THE RECALL TAKEN CARE OF SEVERAL YEARS AGO. THIS APPEARS TO HAVE HAPPENED TO SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE AND COULD HAVE HAD A DISASTROUS OUTCOME. *TR

ON 06/25/2014 I WAS DRIVING MY 2002 FORD F-250 SUPER DUTY 7.3 LITRE DIESEL SOUTH ON RT. 81 IN SYRACUSE NY. AT EXIT 81 AND IN CONGESTED TRAFFIC WHEN I LOST ALL ENGINE POWER. THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON BUT WHEN I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR NOTHING HAPPENED. THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING BUT THE TRUCK WOULD NOT GO. I WAS IN THE LEFT LANE INTENDING TO GO SOUTH ON 81 WITH A BARRIER ON MY LEFT AND NO SHOULDER TO ESCAPE TRAFFIC. I SIGNALED AND DRIFTED OVER TO THE RIGHT AND ENDED UP STOPPING IN AN AREA BETWEEN THE RT 81 LANE AND AN EXIT RAMP. WHILE DOING THIS I HAD SLOWED CONSIDERABLY AS THE TRUCK HAD NO POWER AND CARS AND TRUCKS BEHIND ME HAD TO SWERVE AND BRAKE ABRUPTLY TO AVOID STRIKING ME. THE AREA WHERE I FINALLY CAME TO REST WAS DIRECTLY BETWEEN THE TWO LANES WITHOUT ROOM ON EITHER SIDE. I ATTEMPTED TO EXIT THE TRUCK TO TRY TO EVALUATE THE SITUATION BUT TRAFFIC WAS TRAVELING WITHIN A FOOT OR TWO OF THE TRUCK. I CONTACTED AAA AND HAD TO WAIT IN THIS VERY HAZARDOUS POSITION FOR ABOUT 45 MINUTES FOR A TOW TRUCK TO ARRIVE. I HAD TO BE TOWED ALMOST 200 MILES TO MY HOME AFTER MY MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM HE STATED THAT IT WAS ONE OF OR POSSIBLY TWO SENSORS THAT HAD FAILED. THESE SENSORS CONTROLLED THE FUEL AND AIR FLOW TO THE ENGINE AND WHEN THEY FAILED IT REFUSED TO ALLOW THE ENGINE TO ACCELERATE NOT ALLOWING ME TO MOVE THE TRUCK. I FEEL THAT FORD SHOULD BE MADE TO DESIGN A SENSOR THAT PROVIDES A WARNING OR A MEANS TO OVERRIDE THE SYSTEM IN ORDER FOR A DRIVER TO MAKE IT TO A POINT OF SAFETY. THIS SITUATION MIMICKED THE SAME SITUATION CAUSED BY GM CARS HAVING THEIR IGNITION SHUT OFF CAUSING DEATH AND SERIOUS INJURIES. I JUST HAPPENED TO BE VERY LUCK AS I NARROWLY MISSED BE STRUCK BY FAST MOVING TRACTOR TRAILERS AND CARS. HOPEFULLY SOMETHING CAN BE DONE BY FORD TO CORRECT THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION. ON MARCH 22, 2014, THE TRUCK WAS PARKED IN A LOCAL PARKING LOT, THE IGNITION KEY WAS REMOVED AND THE TRUCK WAS LOCKED. THE DRIVER RETURNED TO THE TRUCK TO FIND THAT WHILE IT WAS PARKED, A FIRE HAD BEGUN IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT OF THE TRUCK, AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND POLICE DEPARTMENT WERE ON THE SCENE PUTTING OUT THE FIRE. BECAUSE OF THE QUICK ACTIONS OF AN INDIVIDUAL PARKED NEARBY WHO USED A FIRE HOSE TO CONTAIN THE FIRE UNTIL THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED, THE CABIN AND THE BODY OF THE TRUCK WERE SPARED, AND THE DAMAGE WAS LOCALIZED TO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE WAS THE SPEED CONTROL DEACTIVATION SWITCH.

SPARK PLUG FAILURE AS ACCELERATING FROM A STOP LIGHT, AND ENGINE PROBLEM RESULTING FROM 7 CYLINDER OPERATION. GOT IT TO A MECHANIC AND HE WAS ABLE TO SLEEVE THE SPARK PLUG THREAD AND INSTALL A NEW PLUG. NOW THE SAME IS STARTING AGAIN. I AM TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE MECHANIC TO MAKE PERMANENT REPAIRS FOR ALL THE SPARK PLUG. THIS MAY END UP WITH THE ENGINE HEADS BEING REMOVED IN ORDER TO MAKE COMPLETE REPAIRS, AND THE COST FOR THAT WILL BE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. THIS IS A FORD ENGINE DESIGN PROBLEM THAT FORD HAS BEEN AWARE OF, YET THEY CONTINUE TO DENY ANY RESPONSIBILITY. *TR
