I'M NOT THE FIRST TO REPORT THIS PROBLEM AND SURELY WON'T BE THE LAST; I WAS ON MY LUNCH BREAK WHEN I PUSHED THE BUTTON TO ROLL DOWN MY PASSENGER SIDE REAR WINDOW THEN POW IT HAPPENED. YEP, THE[XXX] WINDOW FELL INSIDE THE DOOR. I PROCEEDED TO ROLL UP THE WINDOW, BUT ONLY HEARD A GRINDING NOISE INSIDE THE DOOR. SOUND FAMILIAR?? THE WINDOW WILL NOT ROLL UP AND IS STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION. FORD SAYS IT WILL COST 400 OR SO DOLLARS IT COSTS TO FIX IT. I'M GOING TO HOLD OUT 'TIL FORD REALIZES THEY'VE MASS PRODUCED A BUNCHA [XXX] PARTS AND HAS A RECALL ON THEM! TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150 HERITAGE. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR. THE VEHICLE SLID DOWN AS IF IT HAD BEEN ROLLED DOWN BUT WITH MORE FORCE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 46,952.

I HAVE A 2004 FORD F-150 AND ALL MY WINDOWS HAVE FAIL THE FIRST WINDOW FALL DOWN WHEN THE TRUCK WAS 50,000 MILES OR LESS THE OTHER WINDOWS FAIL ON THE NEXT 25,000 MILES NOW MY TRUCK HAS 80,000 MILES AND IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND TODAY 11-6-2010 AGAIN ONE MORE WINDOW FALL DOWN THE TRACK AND DON'T GO UP. *TR

2004 FORD F-150 FX-4 PICKUP TRUCK THAT HAS A GRINDING NOISE IN THE REAREND. I COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO WHILE TRUCK WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND GENE LATTA (THE FORD DEALERSHIP IN HANOVER,PA) SAID THEY FIXED BUT HERE IT IS AT 45,020 MILES MAKING THE SAME VIBRATING/GRINDING NOISE AGAIN. AFTER FINDING SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ONLINE THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL AND FORD SHOULD FIX AT NO COST TO THE OWNER!!!! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL INVOLUNTARILY TURNED OFF WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 60 MPH WITH IT ACTIVATED. HE TRIED TO TURN IT BACK ON BUT IT WOULD NOT RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. DRIVING AT 50 MPH MY TRUCK DIES. TOW TO A FORD DEALERSHIP (THOMAS FORD, BEVERLY MA.). DIAGNOSTICS SHOW BLOWN PCU. DEALER REPLACES PCU AT MY EXPENSE. FINDS THAT, OR SAYS THAT, THE PCU WAS BLOWN BY THE FPDM. FORD DOES NOT HAVE ANY IN STOCK AND 3 MONTHS BEHIND IN PRODUCTION DUE TO BAD ECONOMY. DEALER PRESSURES ME INTO BUYING USED FPDM BECAUSE 3 OTHER TRUCKS ON LOT HAS SAME PROBLEM AND THEY WILL BUY PART IF I DON'T. 3 MONTHS WITHOUT TRUCK IF I DON'T. DEALER ALSO SAYS I SHOULD COMPLAIN TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY DIRECT BECAUSE (THEY BELIEVE) IT SHOULD BE A RECALL. FMC DID NOTHING. NOT EVEN EXPEDITE A NEW PART. PCM WAS $970 PART ONLY AND FPCM WAS $343 PART ONLY. FPCM CRACKED BECAUSE MOUNTED ON DISSIMILAR METAL UNDER SPARE TIRE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED A STRONG FUEL ODOR AROUND THE VEHICLE. HE THEN NOTICED FUEL ON THE GROUND WHICH WAS LEAKING FROM THE FUEL TANK. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER WHO ADVISED HIM TO TAKE THE VEHICLE IN FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 15,000.

I HAVE A 2004 FORD F-150 AND THE REGULATOR IN THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW WENT OUT CAUSING A LOUD GRINDING NOISE AND THEN CAUSING THE WINDOW TO CRASH DOWN INTO THE FRAME OF THE DOOR. THE WINDOW IS DOWN AND WILL NOT ROLL BACK UP. *TR
2004 F150 REAR WINDOW WIRE FAILURE CAUSED THE WINDOW TO STAY DOWN. THE WIND AT 65 MPH MAKES THE VEHICLE VIBRATE WITH THE WINDOW STUCK DOWN. *TR
2004 FORD F-150 CREW CAB REAR PASSENGER WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURE AND WINDOW SHATTERING INSIDE DOOR. DRIVERS SIDE REAR WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED AND WAS REPLACED SEVERAL MONTHS AGO. UNABLE TO ROLL UP REAR WINDOW. *TR ORDERED PARTS TO HAVE IT REPLACED, THE REGULATOR IIS MORE EXPENSIVE THAN MOST REGULATORS. *TR
FORD F150 CREW CAB. AT 45,000 MILES THE F/DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED. REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. AT 76,000 MILES F/PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED. REPLACED OUT OF WARRANTY. AT 95,000 MILES R/PASSENGER WINDOW REGULATOR HAS FAILED. HAS NOT BEEN TO THE DEALER FOR THE LATEST FAILURE. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE COST WILL BE OR WHEN THE R/ DRIVERS SIDE WILL FAIL. NEITHER OF THE REAR WINDOWS HAVE BEEN USED MORE THAN 50 TIMES DURING MY OWNERSHIP OF THE VEHICLE, WHICH I BOUGHT NEW. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT FROM WHAT I HAVE READ FROM OTHERS AND MY OWN PROBLEMS THAT THERE IS A DEFECT THAT FORD SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR. IT APPEARS THEY ARE UNWILLING TO FACE UP TO THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. *TR
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE IS ROUTED TOO CLOSE TO THE ENGINE CAUSING THE CABLE COVER TO MELT OVER TIME ALLOWING THE CABLE TO BECOME LOOSE. THIS PREVENTS THE COLUMN SHIFTER FROM TRANSFERRING THE VEHICLE INTO PARK EVEN THOUGH THE DASHBOARD INDICATOR IS IN THE PARK POSITION. *TR
MY FORD F-150 TRUCK BLEW THE #5 SPARK PLUG. BROKE THE COIL ON THE SPARK PLUG. HAD TO HAVE THE TRUCK TOWED AND THE REPAIRS COST ME ABOUT $90. ON MARCH 21ST, THE TRUCK BLEW THE #3 PLUG. THIS TIME IT STRIPPED THE THREADS IN THE BLOCK AND HAD TO BE RETAPPED AND REPAIRED. THIS REPAIR COST OVER $200. I CONTACTED FORD AND THEY CLAIM THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF THIS ISSUE. HOWEVER, BOTH THE MECHANICS THAT WORKED ON THIS TRUCK TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD REPAIRED A LOT OF THESE FORD TRUCKS. THIS COULD BE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION SINCE UNBURNED FUEL IS PUMPED OUT OF THE CRATER LEFT BY THE BLOWN PLUG AND ONTO THE HOT MOTOR. I HAVE BEEN LUCKY THAT MY TRUCK HASN'T CAUGHT FIRE. IF MY WIFE HAD BEEN DRIVING I DON'T KNOW THAT SHE WOULD HAVE KNOWN WHAT TO DO. IF YOU GOOGLE "BLOWN SPARK PLUGS ON FORD F150 TRUCKS" ONLINE, YOU WILL SEE THAT THERE HAVE BEEN THOUSANDS OF THESE ISSUES REPORTED TO FORD, AND VARIOUS OTHER AGENCIES THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO TAKE CARE OF THESE THINGS. FORD MOTOR COMPANY IS IGNORING THE PROBLEMS BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO RECALL ALL THE DEFECTIVE VEHICLES. WILL EVERYONE JUST SIT AROUND AND WAIT UNTIL A FEW PEOPLE ARE KILLED BECAUSE OF THESE DEFECTS. PLEASE DO SOMETHING!!
2004 FORD F-150 TRUCK WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURES. RECENTLY, MY DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW MADE A LOAD POPPING SOUND, THEN FELL INTO THE DOOR. I BROUGHT IT INTO MY FORD DEALERSHIP WHO INFORMED ME THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WHERE THE REGULATOR FAILS. THE REPAIR COST WAS $400. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, I'VE FOUND HUNDREDS OF OTHER CASES WHERE THE 2004 F-150 MODEL HAD WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURES. PLEASE ADVISE. *TR
ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO MY DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW IN MY F150 FX4 WENT DOWN AND OUT. DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT, NOW MY PASSENGER REAR WINDOW IS JUST GRINDING GEARS. MY TRUCK ONLY HAS 48K ON IT AND IS WELL SERVICED. AFTER READING SEVERAL COMPLAINTS I DECIDED TO PUT MINE IN SINCE THIS IS CRAZY. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE, IT MIGHT NOT CAUSE DEATH BUT FORD AND PARTS STORES AREN'T OPEN 24/7 SO YOU HAVE A WIDE OPEN TRUCK TO STEAL OR STEAL YOUR BELONGINGS WHILE YOU WINDOW IS DOWN. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F150. DURING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE THE MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THE LEFT LOWER CONTROL A-FRAME WAS CRACKED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE LOWER CONTROL ARM WAS CRACKED AND THEY COULD NOT TELL IF IT WAS ONLY CRACKED ON THE SIDE. THEY INFORMED HER THAT SHE WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR SINCE THERE WAS NO WARRANTY OR RELATED RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED HER THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO SINCE THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,650. UPDATED 02/09/11*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED FORD FINALLY AGREED TO HELP PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. UPDATED 05/06/11
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL THE WINDOW REGULATORS WERE FAILING. THE FIRST TO FAIL WAS ON THE PASSENGER FRONT WINDOW AND THE DRIVER REAR SIDE WAS FAILING. THE WINDOWS DROPPED DOWN AND MADE A GRINDING NOISE WHEN SHE ATTEMPTED TO ROLL IT UP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE FIRST REGULATOR WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 125,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
2004 FORD F150 WINDOW REGULATORS. DRIVING HOME AT NIGHT WINDOW STARTED LOWERING ITSELF. NO WAY TO SECURE TRUCK THAT NIGHT. TOOK APART WINDOW AND REMOVED REGULATOR. THE PART OF THE WINDOW THAT SECURES GLASS IS A COMBINATION OF METAL AND PLASTIC THE PLASTIC PIECE SECURES THE CABLES THAT ARE ATTACHED TO THE POWER WINDOW MOTOR. THESE PLASTIC PIECES ARE UNDER TOO MUCH STRESS AND THEN EITHER BEGIN CRACKING OR BREAK ALTOGETHER. THIS CAUSES THE CABLE TO BE UNSECURED THUS CAUSING THE WINDOW GLASS TO NO LONGER HAVE SUPPORT. THERE ARE ONE OF TWO EASY FIXES FOR THIS PROBLEM THAT I CAN SEE,OR MAYBE THREE.THE FIRST IS TO REDESIGN THE PART WITHOUT THE USE OF PLASTIC. NUMBER TWO IS TO OFFER THIS PARTICULAR PIECE SEPARATE BECAUSE IT ACTUALLY CAN BE REMOVE WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM FROM THE WINDOW TRACKS AND OFFER IT AS AN ALTERNATIVE REPAIR PART FOR THOSE WHO ARE MECHANICALLY INCLINED TO REPAIR IT THEMSELVES,OR HAVE A RECALL ON THESE REGULATORS. I BELIEVE IF A RECALL WAS OFFERED ON THESE REGULATORS THE FIX WOULD BE THE REMOVABLE ALTERNATIVE PART. TOO KEEP FROM HAVING CONTINUING RECALLS THE PART SHOULD BE ALL METAL OR UPGRADE THE PLASTIC SOMEHOW ALTHOUGH ALL METAL WOULD BE BETTER. IF A RECALL IS OFFERED ,DEALERS WILL WANT THE SMALL REMOVABLE PART AS THE FIX I'M ALMOST SURE OF. IN THE MEAN TIME I WILL HAVE TO SEARCH FOR THE COMPLETE REGULATOR WITH OR WITHOUT MOTOR WHICH IS BECOMING DIFFICULT BECAUSE MOST PARTS COMPANIES WANT TO SELL THE COMPLETE ASSEMBLY OR IN MY CASE DON'T OFFER THE REAR WINDOW REGULATOR WHICH FORCES US TOO HAVE TO GO TOO FORD AND PAY IN EXCESS OF 200 DOLLARS FOR THE PART AND LABOR FOR THOSE WHO ARE NOT MECHANICALLY INCLINED. ANYWAY IF DOOR GLASS IS FALLING AND SHATTERING THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND BECAUSE THIS CAN HAPPEN IN EXTREME WEATHER. ALSO THE VEHICLE CANNOT BE SECURED CAUSING THEFT TO RISE AND THUS INSURANCE RATES TOO RISE ALSO. TELL FORD TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THANK YOU FOR THIS LINK. *TR
I OWN A 2004 FORD F150. LAST SATURDAY WE ATTEMPTED TO ROLL DOWN ELECTRIC WINDOW ON PASSENGER SIDE REAR. IT MADE A CLICKING SOUND AND WINDOW CAME CRASHING DOWN. THIS LEFT MY VEHICLE VULNERABLE TO RAIN OR THEFT ALL WEEKEND. JUST TWO MONTHS AGO WE HAD SAME PROBLEM WITH FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW WHEN ON OUR WAY TO VACATION DESTINATION. WE HAD TO REPLACE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR FOR COST OF $300 PLUS LABOR?!?!? LOOKING ONLINE I HAVE FOUND MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS OF SAME MODEL VEHICLE WITH SAME ISSUES. *TR
WHILE DRIVING MY 2004 F150 AND APPROACHING A RED LIGHT OR TURN MY TRUCK WILL INTERMITTENTLY SHUT OFF AND NEED TO BE RESTARTED. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS I HAVE HAD TO PUT BOTH HANDS ON THE WHEEL AND CRANK (NO POWER STEERING) OR BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKES (NO POWER BRAKES) BECAUSE THE TRUCK TURNED OFF AND I LOST ALL POWER FUNCTIONS. IT WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN AS BIG OF A DEAL IF THE DEALER IN MY AREA HADN'T TOLD ME THIS WAS "NORMAL" FOR F150S AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. SINCE THAT DEALER I HAVE DEALT WITH 2 OTHERS IN MY AREA WHO SAY ITS NORMAL AND TO JUST DRIVE MY TRUCK UNTIL IT FIXES ITSELF. I WASN'T AWARE THAT FORD MADE SELF DIAGNOSING/FIXING VEHICLES. IN EITHER CASE I AM EXTREMELY UPSET THAT THIS PROBLEM IS FOR SOME REASON NOT CONSIDERED A PROBLEM AND THAT THERE IS NO CURRENT FIX FOR THIS ISSUE. I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE IN MY TRUCK AND HAVE RESORTED TO DRIVING MY PARENTS VEHICLES UNTIL I CAN RID MYSELF OF THIS DEATH TRAP. ON ANOTHER NOTE I HAVE ALSO HAD THE VEHICLE FLASH DASH BOARD LIGHTS AT ME AFTER GOING OVER SMALL BUMPS AND THEN SHUTTING OFF 1/4 OF A MILE LATER. WHEN THIS PROBLEM WAS BROUGHT UP THE DEALER SAID IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE (IT'S HAPPENED TWICE) AND THAT I HAD TO BE IMAGINING IT. *TR

I ATTEMPTED TO RAISE MY FRONT PASSENGER-SIDE POWER WINDOW ON MY 2004 FORD F-150 SUPERCAB. I HEARD A LOUD POP AND THE WINDOW BEGAN TO LOWER AUTOMATICALLY. WHEN IT WAS COMPLETELY INSIDE THE DOOR, IT STOPPED. I AM NOW UNABLE TO RAISE THIS WINDOW. I WAS PERSONALLY AT A STOP WHEN THE WINDOW FAILED, HOWEVER, THERE ARE NUMEROUS ACCOUNTS OF THIS FAILURE OCCURRING IN MOVING VEHICLES CREATING A SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
2004 FORD F-150 POWER WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED WHILE DRIVING CAUSING THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW TO VIOLENTLY FALL FROM THE TOP (CLOSED) POSITION TO THE BOTTOM (OPEN) POSITION OF THE DOOR PANEL. 2004 FORD F150 4.6L V8, YESTERDAY 10/13/10 WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY TRAFFIC THE TRUCK WOULD JERK WHEN I LET GO OF THE GAS COAST FOR A FEW FEET AND GET BACK ON THE GAS. TODAY 10/14/10 THE TRUCK WOULD NOT GO PAST 30MPH, IT WONT SHIFT INTO THE NEXT GEAR. TRANSMISSION HAS GONE BAD. *TR
I HAVE A 2004 FORD F-150. OVER THE LAST TWO YEARS I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THREE OF THE FOUR POWER WINDOW REGULATORS. JUST THIS LAST WEEK THE FOURTH ONE BROKE. I HAVE SPENT APPROXIMATELY $250-$350 EACH TIME. I ALSO HAVE A FATHER-IN-LAW WITH THE SAME YEAR FORD F-150 WHO HAS EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUES. HE HAS REPLACED THREE OF THE FOUR, AND KNOWS IT IS JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE HIS FOURTH GOES OUT. I HAVE TALKED WITH THE HEAD MECHANIC AT THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND HE SAYS HE IS REPLACING THEM ALL THE TIME AND THAT FORD SHOULD HAVE ISSUED A RECALL ON THEM, BUT HAS NOT DONE SO. I HAVE FOUND THAT SEVERAL THOUSAND OTHER PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUES WITH THIS YEAR MODEL. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN FORD THAT THEY KNOW THERE IS AND HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH THESE PARTS AND HAVE NOT HELPED OUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. THIS WILL AND HAS ALREADY HELPED IN MY FUTURE DISCUSSIONS ON PURCHASING ANOTHER FORD VEHICLE. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD MAKE AN ABNORMAL NOISE WHILE IN MOTION. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE CAM-PHASERS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS TO THE DEFECT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
2004 FORD F-150 CREW CAB LARIAT. DRIVING IN RAINSTORM, THE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR FAILS AND THE WINDOW COMES CRASHING DOWN. THIS IS THE 3RD OF 4 WINDOWS THAT HAS FELL DOWN FOR NO REASON IN A 18 MO. THE POWER WINDOW ASSEMBLY FAILED WHILE DRIVING 65MPH ON THE INTERSTATE WITH MY 10 MONTH OLD ENGLISH LAB. I HEARD A LOUD "POP" AND THE WINDOW DROPPED. HE CLIMBED OVER MY LAP TO THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW NEARLY CAUSING ME TO CRASH BEFORE I COULD GET HIM BACK IN PLACE AND GET THE TRUCK PULLED OVER AND SLOWED DOWN SAFELY. I DIDN'T REALIZE THAT THIS WAS SUCH AN ISSUE UNTIL I TOOK THE DOOR PANEL OFF AND SAW THE MANGLED CABLE AND BROKEN PLASTIC PIECES IN THE DOOR. I STARTED RESEARCHING IT VIA THE INTERNET, LANDING ME HERE. IT LOOKS LIKE THE REPAIR WILL COST APPROX. 300.00-500.00 PER WINDOW. I SIMPLY CAN'T AFFORD THAT IN TODAY'S ECONOMIC CLIMATE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE...PLEASE HELP GET THE VEHICLE'S THAT USE THE "FLAWED" WINDOW ASSEMBLY'S RECALLED BEFORE PEOPLE REALLY ARE HURT AND/OR KILLED.

BATTERY WAS CHECKED, IT WAS OKAY AND CONNECTED FINE. VARIOUS OTHER ENGINE PROBLEMS LATER INCLUDE A RATTLE NOISE AND LOW RPM. RUNNING HOT, CHUGGING ALONG LIKE RUNNING OUT OF GAS, ETC.
