THIS IS THE 3RD TIME TO HAVE A WINDOW REGULATOR FAIL. I HAVE TO TAKE MY GRANDDAUGHTER TO SCHOOL AND COULD NOT KEEP THE WINDOW UP THUS ALLOWING HER TO HAVE ACCESS TO A DOWN WINDOW DURING THE DRIVE. IT TOOK FORD 4 DAYS TO GET TO ME FOR THE REPAIR EACH TIME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F-150. HE STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH THE FRONT AND REAR WINDOWS FELL INSIDE THE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT THE WINDOW REGULATOR WAS BROKEN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE REPAIRS WERE DONE THREE TIMES TO THE VEHICLE AT A COST TO THE OWNER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND A COMPLAINT FILED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 132,000.
WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURE ON ALL FOUR DOORS, WITHOUT WARNING WINDOWS WILL FALL DOWN AND ARE INOPERABLE AFTER THAT. HAD TO TAKE TO DEALER FOR FIX WITH AVERAGE COST PER WINDOW $400. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 F-150. HE STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, THE FRONT AND REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRES BECAME FLAT DUE TO A VALVE STEM FAILURE. THE CONTACT HAD RECEIVED PREVIOUS REPAIRS UNDER AN UNKNOWN TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN. THE DEALER ADVISED THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPLACE THE TIRE BECAUSE IT WAS INCLUDED IN AN UNKNOWN MANUFACTURER'S RECALL YET WHEN THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, THEY WOULD NOT PROVIDE ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 35,200.
WE HAVE HAD THREE WINDOW REGULATORS IN OUR 2004 FORD F-150 BREAK. WE'LL DRIVE OVER A BUMP, AND THE WINDOW WILL FALL AND SHATTER. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! *TR
CAME OUT TO MY CAR AFTER WORK AND THE WINDOW WAS DOWN. IT HAD RAINED THAT AFTERNOON THE WHOLE TRUCK WAS WET. I TRIED TO ROLL IT UP AND THE WINDOW MADE AN AWFUL GRINDING NOISE LIKE THERE WAS SAND OR GLASS CAUGHT IN THE GEARS. ON MY WAY HOME IT STARTED TO RAIN AGAIN. THE RAIN BLEW IN THE WINDOW AND I COULDN'T DRIVE. I PULLED OVER AND HAD TO WAIT FOR IT TO STOP WHILE THE RAIN POURED INTO MY CAR. I WENT TO FORD FOR ADVICE AND THE MECHANIC GOT IN MY CAR PUSHED THE SWITCH FOR NO MORE THAN 1 SECOND, TOLD ME IT WAS A COMMON REPAIR, THE REGULATOR, AND TOLD ME IT WAS $400.00 TO REPAIR THE ISSUE. I KNOW OTHER FORD OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE SAME EXPERIENCE WITH FORD. THIS IS ABSURD! *TR
COMPLETE AND UNEXPECTED 2004 FORD DRIVER-SIDE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURE, CONSISTING OF SUDDEN GLASS PANE WINDOW DROP WHILE AT SPEED OF 65MPH ACCOMPANIED BY LOUD BOOM NOISE. - THIS EXPERIENCE WAS QUITE UNNERVING, AND NEARLY CAUSED ME TO VEER INTO ANOTHER LANE OCCUPIED BY OTHER VEHICLES. - APPARENTLY FORD IS WELL AWARE OF THIS ONGOING SITUATION REGARDING THESE WINDOW COMPONENTS, YET REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. *TR
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE 3 WINDOW REGULATORS ON MY 2004 F-150 SUPERCREW AND JUST YESTERDAY ANOTHER ONE WENT OUT. I HAVE A 2004 FORD F150. DRIVING HOME FROM WORK THE ROAD THE RIGHT REAR WINDOW FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR. I CANNOT LEAVE MY TRUCK OUTSIDE OVERNIGHT WITH THE WINDOW DOWN SO I HAD TO DISASSEMBLE THE DOOR TO FIX THE WINDOW UP. THE CABLE ATTACHMENTS IN THE REGULATOR HAD BROKEN ALLOWING THE WINDOW TO FALL. F150 WINDOW REGULATORS.. I OWN AN 2004 F150 AND THIS IS THE 2ND WINDOW REGULATOR THAT HAS GONE OUT IN RECENT YEARS.. FORTUNATELY, NOONE WAS SITTING IN THE PARTICULAR SET THAT FAILED.. GOODYEAR WRANGLER TIRE FAILURE. I HAVE 235/17/70 TIRES ON MY F150. THE SIDEWALLS ARE PEELING, REVEALING WHITE... I HAVE HAD TWO SIDEWALL FAILURES RESULTING IN HIGHWAY BLOWOUTS. THE REMAINING TWO TIRES APPEAR TO BE DESTINED FOR THE SAME FATE. ADDITIONALLY, THE TREAD IS SHOWING PREMATURE WEAR. I WILL BE REPLACING THE TIRES WITH ANOTHER BRAND. *TR
2004, 4.6 FORD EXPLORER PICKUP SPARK PLUGS BREAK OFF, CAN'T GET THEM OUT, CAUSES MUCH DAMAGE, COST $$$$ TO GET REPAIRED THAT I DON'T HAVE! I HAVE NOW REPLACED BOTH THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW REGULATORS ON MY 2004 F150 LARIAT. THE DRIVER-SIDE WINDOW FELL IN JUNE 2009 @127K MI. THE PASSENGER-SIDE WINDOWS FELL TODAY (6/17/2010) @ 149K MILES. THE COSTS OF REPLACING THE REGULATOR IN EACH CASE WERE AS FOLLOWS: PASSENGER SIDE: $$539.47 DRIVER SIDE: $500.00 GIVEN ALL THE REPORTED INCIDENTS OF THIS THAT I AM SEEING REPORTED ON VARIOUS WEBSITES AND FORUMS, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT THE NHTSA. DEMAND A MANUFACTURER'S RECALL FOR THIS OBVIOUS QUALITY DEFECT THAT IS: 1) COSTLY TO REPAIR 2) CREATES A DANGEROUS IN-CAR SITUATION WHEN IT OCCURS DURING OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE. IN 2009, MY 2004 FORD F-150 TRUCKS REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW FELL INSIDE THE DOOR JUST AS I RETURNED HOME WITH BOTH OF MY TODDLER CHILDREN IN CAR SEATS IN THE BACK SEAT. THE GLASS DID NOT BREAK, BUT IT WAS A FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE FOR MYSELF AND MY DAUGHTERS. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK FROM AND WHERE I ALSO HAVE THE TRUCK SERVICED AND I WAS CHARGED $400 FOR THE WINDOW TO BE REPAIRED. JUST THIS MONTH (JUNE 2010), MY RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER'S WINDOW FELL INSIDE THE DOOR WHILE I WAS AT WORK. LUCKILY, NOTHING WAS STOLEN FROM THE TRUCK AND NO ONE WAS INJURED. WHEN I TOOK THE TRUCK AGAIN TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP, THEY AGAIN TOLD ME IT WOULD BE ANOTHER $400 TO REPAIR IT. I COMPLAINED AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT. I AM VERY UPSET ABOUT THIS INCIDENT. I HAVE BOUGHT FORD VEHICLES SINCE I FIRST GOT MY DRIVER'S LICENSE 20 YEARS AGO AND I AM VERY UPSET BY THE WAY FORD HAS TREATED IT'S CUSTOMERS. I JUST HOPE THAT THE NEXT TWO WINDOWS THAT HAVE NOT FALLEN YET WILL NOT INJURE ME, MY WIFE OR MY CHILDREN WHEN THEY DECIDE TO FALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 FORD F150. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60-70 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL IN ACTIVATION WHEN SUDDENLY, THE CRUISE CONTROL FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NEITHER DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
IN JUNE 2010 THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR WINDOW MADE A BANG AND THE WINDOW SLID DOWN INTO THE DOOR FRAME. DEALERSHIP CHARGED ME $480 FOR A NEW REGULATOR AS I'M OUT OF MY WARRANTY PERIOD. 2 MONTHS LATER,AUGUST, THE DRIVER'S WINDOW DID THE SAME THING. THIS TIME TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND IT RAN ME $230. THEN 2-MONTHS AFTER THAT, OCTOBER, THE PASSENGER'S SIDE FRONT WINDOW MADE A BANG AND IT WENT DOWN INTO THE DOOR FRAME. 3 WINDOWS IN 6-MONTHS AND I'M THE ONLY ONE WHO RIDES IN MY TRUCK SO ALL THE WINDOWS EXCEPT FOR THE DRIVERS SIDE GET VERY LITTLE USAGE. BASED ON THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS REGISTERED HERE, I WOULD THINK SOMEONE WOULD DEMAND FORD IMPLEMENT A RECALL. *TR

I HAVE A 2004 FORD TRUCK F -150 . I HAVE TWO WINDOWS ON PASSENGER SIDE . FALL DOWN INTO DOOR. THESE WINDOWS WERE RARELY USE .THEY BOTH FELL WITHIN A SHORT TIME OF EACH OTHER. SO I CALL THE DEALER TOLD ABOUT MY PROBLEM . BEFORE I COULD TELL HIM THE YEAR OF THE TRUCK .HE SAID LET ME GUESS YOU HAVE A 2004 MODEL. SO I ASK IF THERE WAS RECALL HE SAID NO. THIS A SAFETY ISSUE . I HAVE A 2004 F150 LARIAT AND IN 2007 MY PASS REAR WINDOW FELL DOWN, SO HERE I AM RIDING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE IS ABOUT 97 DEGREES WHEN I HERE THIS NOISE FROM THE REAR AND GOOD THING I DO NOT SCARE EASILY OR IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT. TRANSMISSION FAILURE IN MY 2004 F-150 FORD TRUCK AT 76,000 MILES. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2004 FORD F150 SUPERCREW TRUCK. I JUST TURNED ON THE AIRCONDITION BECAUSE IT WAS OVER 90 DEGREES OUTSIDE. I LOWERED THE REAR WINDOWS TO HELP COOL THE INSIDE QUICKER. I HEARD THIS LOUD THUD AND THEN A GRINDING SOUND AS THE WINDOWS ARE LOWERED. I GOT WORRIED. I THEN RAISED THE WINDOWS AND WHILE THE RIGHT REAR WINDOW WENT UP, THE LEFT REAR WINDOW DID NOT. INSTEAD I HEARD A GRINDING SOUND AGAIN. I NOTICED THAT THE LEFT WINDOW IS STILL OPEN. I DECIDED TO LEAVE IT OPEN SINCE MY DESTINATION IS CLOSE BY. WHEN I GOT TO MY DESTINATION, I TRIED TO OPERATE THE WINDOWS A COUPLE MORE TIMES TO TRY TO CLOSE IT, BUT NOTHING WAS HAPPENING. SINCE I'M WORRIED THAT SOMETHING MAY HAPPEN TO THE TRUCK AND EVERYTHING I HAD INSIDE, I DECIDED TO SLEEP IN THE BACK SEAT OF THE TRUCK THAT NIGHT. THE FOLLOWING DAY, I SEARCHED THE INTERNET TO FIND OUT HOW TO REMOVE THE DOOR PANEL TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. I FOUND OUT INSTEAD THAT THERE WERE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE WINDOW REGULATOR ON 2004 AND 2005 F150, IN ADDITION TO THE INFORMATION I WANTED. WHEN I OPENED THE DOOR PANEL, I FOUND OUT THAT THE CABLE IS LOOSE AND BENT. THE PLASTIC WINDOW REGULATOR HAS MANGLED THE CABLE, LEAVING THE WINDOW DOWN. I'M NOW TRYING TO FIND OUT HOW TO REMOVE THE WINDOW REGULATOR TO REPLACE IT. *TR

I HAVE A 2004 FORD F150-LARIAT PURCHASED IN SEPT 2004. SINCE PURCHASE I AM NOW AT MY THIRD WINDOW REGULATOR REPLACEMENT. THE FRONT WINDOW REGULATORS WERE REPLACED 3/2007 AND 5/2008. NOW I AM REQUIRED TO REPLACE THE RIGHT REAR REGULATOR AT $400 A POP. *TR

EVEN THE BACK WINDOWS HAVE FILED AND THEY ARE NOT USED AT ALL. THIS HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE A SAFETY INCIDENT IF THE WINDOW WERE TO SHATTER AND GLASS COME INSIDE THE CABIN. I HAVE REPLACED 2 OF THE FOUR REGULATORS AND THEY ARE POORLY DESIGNED. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE TO MAKE FORD MOTOR COMPANY OWN UP TO THE POOR DESIGN AND SAFETY CONCERN. *TR
DRIVING AND HEARD A "POP SOUND" THEN NOTICE THAT THE WINDOW HAD COMPLETELY FELL INTO THE DOOR PANEL. POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR GOING OUT, 2004 FORD F150. NOW ALL WINDOW MOTORS (4) HAVE BROKEN WITHIN THE LAST 16MONTHS. TAKEN THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP ALL TIMES DUE TO THE DIFFICULT WORK THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE BY A TRAINED MECHANIC. COST FOR A SINGLE WINDOW $389.00. *TR
THIS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME, WINDOW REGULATOR BROKE. NOT SURE WHY OR HOW IT HAPPENED. TRIED TO OPEN THE WINDOW, THEN IT JUST FELL/ SLAMMED INSIDE THE DOOR.KIND OF FREAKED ME OUT. I'VE BEEN ON LINE AND FOUND SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. *TR
2004 FORD F-150 SUPER CREW DRIVERS SIDE POWER WINDOW AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE POWER WINDOW FAILURE WITHIN TWO WEEKS OF EACH OTHER AT 42,000 MILES. THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW GETS USED A LOT, AND THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW IS SELDOM USED. UNABLE TO IMMEDIATELY PAY $350 PER WINDOW TO REPAIR, SO I'M PUTTING UP WITH MOISTURE/VISIBILITY ISSUES ON THE INSIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD, WEATHER CHALLENGES, AND DEAFENING BUFFETING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. THE FORD DEALER TOLD ME THAT ALTHOUGH THE WINDOW MOTOR STILL RUNS, THE CABLE SYSTEM USED TO RAISE AND LOWER THE WINDOW GETS IRRETRIEVABLY SUCKED INTO THE MOTOR OR DAMAGED NECESSITATING REPLACING THE ENTIRE MOTOR/REGULATOR UNIT. ALSO, THAT IT MAY BE RIVETED IN PLACE RATHER THAN BOLTED, REQUIRING SPECIAL RIVETING TOOLS TO FACILITATE THE REPAIR. THIS IS NOT SAFE FOR MY GRANDCHILDREN AND MYSELF DRIVING WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN, ENDURING DEAFENING BUFFETING, WEATHER EXTREMES, AND ROAD HAZARDS, LET ALONE VISIBILITY ISSUES DUE TO WINDOW FOGGING. *TR
I HAVE HAD 3 POWER WINDOW REGULATORS FAIL ON MY 2004 F-150. THE FIRST WAS IN FEBRUARY OF 2008 (FRONT DRIVERS) THEN IN FEBRUARY OF 2010 THE BACK DRIVERS AND TODAY THE BACK PASSENGERS WHERE MY 2 YEAR OLD WAS AT IN HER CAR SEAT. IT SCARED HER SO BAD SHE WOULDN'T STOP CRYING FOR 20 MINUTES OR SO. I HAVE ONLY BEEN ABLE TO HAVE THE FRONT DRIVERS REPLACED BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY FOR THE OTHERS. THEY ARE JUST "SHIMMIED" INTO THE UP POSITION. *TR
THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THE WINDOW REGULATOR ON MY 2004 FORD SUPERCREW WINDOW HAS FAILED CAUSING MY WINDOW TO FALL DOWN INTO THE DOOR. THE FIRST TIME THE VEHICLE ONLY HAD 40000 MILES ON IT AND WAS FAIRLY NEW. WHEN I CALLED FORD I WAS TOLD THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL. THIS LAST TIME IT WAS AT ROUGHLY 84000 MILES. I AM A STATE TROOPER WHO WORKS MANY CRASHES EVERY DAY. I KNOW THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE FOR THE DRIVER. WHEN THE WINDOW FALLS, AIR BLOWS INTO THE WINDOW CAUSING CONTENTS OF THE VEHICLE TO FLY ABOUT. THIS SERIOUSLY DISTRACTS THE DRIVER AND CAN CAUSE VISIBILITY ISSUES (PAPERS FLYING ONTO THE WINDSHIELD). EVEN WORSE AN UNPROPERLY RESTRAINED CHILD CAN FALL OUT THE WINDOW. I HAVE CONTACTED THE FORD MECHANICS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THEY ALL AGREE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RECALLED YEARS AGO. MY CONCERN IS WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED HAD MY WINDOW FELL DOWN WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT IN THE HEAVY RAIN.
