THIS IS THE SAME THING THAT HAPPENS TO MINE AS SOMEONE ELSE HAD ALREADY POSTED.. POWER STEERING BECOMES 'HARD'. STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY BECOMES STIFF AND DIFFICULT TO HANDLE. HARD TO TURN. CHOPPY WHILE TURNING AND SNAPS BACK IN INCREMENTS INSTEAD OF A SMOOTH, EASY RETURN TO CENTER. FEELS LIKE MANUAL STEERING THEN RETURNS TO POWER STEERING. OCCURS AT ANY SPEED, VERY DANGEROUS AT HIGHER SPEEDS. MAKES THE VEHICLE STEER 'CHOPPY' AND UNPREDICTABLE. HAVE STOPPED USING THE VEHICLE, CAUSES A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHILE DRIVING AND TRYING TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE TRUCK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20-55 MPH, THERE WAS EXCESSIVE HESITATION WITH AN INTERMITTENT ILLUMINATION OF THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED A SPARK PLUG FRACTURED WITHIN THE ENGINE AND IT WOULD NEED A TUNE-UP. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 08V208000(SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:POWER ASSIST:VACUUM:HOSES, LINES/PIPING, AND FITTINGS WAS THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. LATER, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE CONTACT ENGAGED THE BRAKES AS HARD AS POSSIBLE BUT THE BRAKES FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT ABRUPTLY APPLIED THE BRAKES BUT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS RESISTANT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER VACUUM HOSES WERE DEFECTIVE AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. SHE CALLED THE DEALER THAT PERFORMED THE RECALL AND WAS ADVISED TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN TO HAVE THE REPAIR WORK PERFORMED AT THE MANUFACTURER'S EXPENSE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE UNKNOWN.
2006 FORD F150 5.4L ONLY 32K MILES, MUST SPEND OVER $400 DUE TO BAD SPARK PLUG DESIGN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL FOUR WINDOW REGULATORS FAILED AND AS A RESULT, SHE WAS UNABLE TO OPEN OR CLOSE THE WINDOW. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE WINDOW WOULD OPEN HOWEVER, IT WOULD FAIL TO CLOSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE ALL FOUR WINDOW SWITCHES WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 57,900 AND THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
OVER A PERIOD OF 3 MONTHS, I WAS EXPERIENCING A ROUGH IDLE, LOSS OF POWER WHEN ACCELERATING ON FLAT SURFACES AS WELL AS CLIMBING HILLS. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO SAID IT WAS 2 BAD COIL PACKS. THEY FIXED IT AND 2 WEEKS LATER SAME INCIDENT OCCURRED AND THEY REPLACED IT. DURING THIS TIME, I COULD ALWAYS SMELL THE ODOR OF GASOLINE. AFTER THE LARGE EXPENSE I WAS ASSUMING, I CALLED THE FORD DEALER WHERE I BOUGHT MY 2006 F-150 LARIAT. THE SERVICE MANAGER OF 22 YEARS APPARENTLY NEVER HEARD OF THE COIL PACK GOING BAD ALONG WITH THE SPARK PLUGS BREAKING DUE TO THIS. AFTER ARGUING FOR A WEEK WITH THEM, THEY FINALLY AGREED TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF ALL 8 COIL PACKS. DURING THIS SEQUENCE, A COIL PACK WAS GOING BAD WEEKLY AND I HAD TO CONTINUALLY HAVE IT IN THE SHOP. FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND AS I CAN SEE, THERE ARE A LOT OF THESE ISSUES OUT THERE AND FORD CONTINUES TO DISREGARD A RECALL. THERE IS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE AS GASOLINE WILL EMIT FROM THE CRACK IN THE COIL PACK AND COULD CAUSE A FIRE UNDER THE RIGHT CONDITION. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 FORD F-150 AND UPON REMOVING THE SPARK PLUGS AT 60,00 MILES, WHICH AREN'T DUE TO BE DONE UNTIL 100,00 MILES, THE SPARK PLUGS BROKE OFF IN THE HEAD. I HAVE BEEN A CERTIFIED MECHANIC IN THE PAST SO I KNOW HOW TO REMOVE SPARK PLUGS. FORD SHOULD BE ISSUING A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS DISCUSSED A LOT ON INTERNET SITES AND WELL DOCUMENTED TO BE A PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2006 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND SEIZED. THE CONTACT THEN DROVE TO HIS RESIDENCE AND ADDED POWER STEERING FLUID BUT THE FLUID LEAKED OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING WAS REPAIRED. AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COMPLETELY REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 87,000. UPDATED 07/06/12 *BF THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR A SHOP AND A DIAGNOSIS REVEALED THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ALSO, THE POWER STEERING HOSE WAS REPLACED TWICE, THE O-RING, POWER STEERING PUMP AND POWER STEERING LINE WERE REPLACED. UPDATED 08/08/12

LIGHT BULB INSIDE THE AUTOMATIC SHIFTER CAME LOOSE AND WAS INSIDE CONSOLE, WHEN I TURNED ON MY LIGHTS, I SMELLED PLASTIC BURNING THE LIGHT BULB BURNED A HOLE THROUGH THE SIDE OF THE CONSOLE WHICH IN TURN BURNED MY HAND, FORD DEALERSHIP REMOVED LIGHTBULB, BUT WAS INSISTING I PAY APPROX.$900.00 FOR REPAIRS, WHICH I REFUSE TO DO. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THE THREADS IN THE RIGHT REAR CYLINDER HEAD OF MY 2006 FORD F150 5.4L TRITON V8 FAILED CAUSING SPARK PLUG EJECTION AND COIL DAMAGE. IT IS CURRENTLY BEING TOWED TO THE REPAIR SHOP AND, ACCORDING TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE WHOLE CYLINDER HEAD WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED. IT IS UNKNOWN, AT THIS TIME, WHAT THE DEALERSHIP WILL COVER AND WHAT MY EXPENSES WILL BE. *TR

SOMETIME IN FEBRUARY 2011 I NOTICED THE STEERING IN MY 2006 FORD F-150 TO BE GETTING VERY TIGHT AND EXTREMELY HARD TO STEER. SOMETIMES IT WOULD GET BETTER OTHERS IT WAS WORSE. WHEN MAKING A TURN THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD NEVER RETURN ON ITS OWN. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER I PURCHASED VEHICLE FOR A NEW CONTROL MODULE AND EXPLAINED MY STEERING PROBLEM THEY FLUSHED THE FLUID THE VEHICLE SEEMED BETTER FOR A WEEK AND GRADUALLY GOT WORSE. ON 05/31/2011 I AGAIN TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER. A COUPLE DAYS LATER THEY SAID IT WAS THE SOMETHING TO DO WITH STEERING SHAFT BINDING AND THE PART WOULD BE IN ON FRIDAY 06/04/2011. WHEN I SPOKE WITH THEM AGAIN THEY SAID THE PART WAS NOW ON BACKORDER AND THEY ALSO HAD 3 OTHER TRUCKS AT THE DEALER WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. COULD IT BE THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM AND THAT IS WHY THE PARTS ARE BACKORDERED OR WORSE FORD KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM AND IS TRYING TO FIGURE IT OUT WHILE I SIT HOME WITH NO VEHICLE. SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
WHILE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC, I WAS HIT IN THE REAR END BY ANOTHER VEHICLE DURING NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, BOTH THE DRIVER SEAT AND THE PASSENGER SEAT COLLAPSED, BOTH MYSELF (DRIVER) AND THE PASSENGER RECEIVED NECK, SHOULDER, AND BACK INJURIES. MY VEHICLE RECEIVED HEAVY DAMAGE. A POLICE ACCIDENT REPORT WAS TAKEN. *TR
2006 FORD F-150 HARLEY DAVIDSON HAS COIL MISFIRE PROBLEM. ALL EIGHT COILS HAVE BEEN REPLACED IN THE LAST 24 MONTHS AND THREE HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE. CAT CONVERTER HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE IN THE SAME TIME PERIOD. ALL PLUGS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THE CAR CONTINUES TO MISFIRE. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE HAS AN EXTREMELY STRONG ODOR OF FUEL RESONATING. THE DEALER STATES THAT THEY CANNOT DO ANYTHING TO FIND THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM. THIS VEHICLE IS DEALER SERVICED. *TR
AIR BAG LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR 5 MONTHS AND THE DASH BOARD AND RADIO SHORTS OUT AND SHUTS OFF ALL POWER IN DASH. *TR
WHAT A SHOCKER, I GO TO THE FORD DEALER FOR THE 100K TUNE UP FOR MY F-150 KING RANCH ORIGINAL COST $450. ALMOST TWO WEEKS LATER, TRUCK STILL ISN'T FINISHED COST IS AT $3, 500 STILL CAN GO. THEY DON'T KNOW YET UNTIL THEIR FINISHED PUTTING EVERYTHING BACK TOGETHER. 7 OF THE 8 PLUGS BROKE, TWO WOULD NOT COME OUT. FINALLY, THEY GOT ONE OF THE TWO OUT. THE ONE IS SEIZED UP PRETTY GOOD. THE HAD TO TAKE THE HEAD OFF AND WAITING ON THE OUTCOME. I'M UP IN ARMS ON WHAT TO DO. I DON'T HAVE AN EXTRA $3, 000 LAYING AROUND TO PAY FOR THIS PLUS THE PRICE CAN STILL GO UP. HOW CAN THEY NOT TELL YOU THIS UP FRONT AND KEEP PADDING THE PRICE AND NOT KNOWING WHAT ITS GOING TO COST UNTIL YOU PICK YOUR VEHICLE UP. PLEASE CONTACT ME, I WOULD LIKE TO FILE A SUIT AGAINST FORD BUT NEED ASSISTANCE. I TALKED TO SOMEONE FROM FORDS FRONT OFFICE ABOUT THIS ISSUE. THEY ARE WELL AWARE OF THIS MATTER. ALL THEY SAY IS THAT ITS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND MY VEHICLE IS OVER THE 100K MAX. COME TO FIND OUT, NO MATTER WHAT WARRANTY YOU HAVE, THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE HAS NO WARRANTY TO BEGIN WITH. ALL THEY WOULD DO IS OFFER ME THE "X PLAN" ON A NEW VEHICLE. NOW, WHY WOULD I WANT TO BUY A NEW VEHICLE. I'VE BEEN RAISED ON FORD VEHICLES MY ENTIRE LIFE. I MUST SAY THIS WILL BE MY LAST FORD TRUCK FOR SURE. A FRIEND OF MINE HAS A TOYOTA TRUCK AND HAS OVER 200K MILES. NEVER HAS HAD A ISSUE WITH ANYTHING. I WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT STARTED UP MY TRUCK AND THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON. *TR
TL* 2006 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING HE STARTED TO ACCELERATED WHEN THE GAS PEDAL STUCK CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO PICK UP SPEED. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A BUILDING AND STOPPED WHEN IT HIT A SNOW BANK. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL SHOP WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THAT IT WAS POSSIBLE FOR THE PEDALS TO GET STUCK IN COLD WEATHER. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT DID NOT FILE A POLICE REPORT. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,000. UPADTED 04/28/11
THE TRUCK WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH ON A WET TWO-LANE ROAD. THE TRUCK SLIPPED TO THE RIGHT OFF THE ROADWAY AND CLIPPED SOME DEAD TREES, TRAVELED APPROXIMATELY 60 FEET OVER SOME BOULDERS, AND STRUCK A CEDAR TREE APPROXIMATELY SIX INCHES IN DIAMETER, COMING TO REST. THE TRUCK STRUCK THE TREE MIDWAY ON THE FRONT END, COMPRESSING THE HOOD, WITH THE FRONT FENDER WRAPPED AROUND THE TREE. THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE, REQUESTING INFORMATION TO BE GATHERED ON WHY THE AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE REFERRED ME TO THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE INSURANCE COMPANY REPRESENTATIVE CALLED ON MY BEHALF AND GAVE PERMISSION FOR FORD TO NON-DESTRUCTIVELY COLLECT DATA AT THE SALVAGE SITE, BUT FORD REFUSED. I HAVE PHOTOGRAPHS THAT I CAN PROVIDE IF REQUESTED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F150. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH AND NOTICED THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LED LIGHT FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. I OWN A FORD F150 2006 TRUCK. I TOOK THE TRUCK IN FOR THE 100K SERVICE PER THE FACTORY SPECS FOR A TUNE UP/CHANGING OF THE SPARK PLUGS. THE SPARK PLUGS ARE DEFECTIVE AND BUILD CARBON AROUND THE BOTTOM AND WHEN THEY ARE REMOVED, THE CERAMIC BOTTOMS BREAK OFF INTO THE CYLINDER OF THE ENGINE. *TR
THE CROSSOVER PIPE FOR THE EXHAUST SYSTEM IS LOCATED DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF A CROSS BRACE UNDER THE TRANSMISSION. THE BRACE ACCUMULATES DEBRIS EASILY AND IT PACKS UP AGAINST THE EXHAUST PIPE RESULTING IN A FIRE UNDER THE TRUCK. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE OXYGEN SENSORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY THE OXYGEN SENSORS, WHICH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED A SECOND TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 157,000.
OEM SPARKPLUG IN 2006 F-150 KING RANCH (3-VALVE ENGINE). EXPERIENCED PREMATURE PLUG FAILURE AND RESULTING HIGH REPLACEMENT COSTS DUE TO DEFECTIVE SPARKPLUG DESIGN. PLUG FAILURE RESULTED IN SLUGGISH ENGINE PERFORMANCE THAT LED TO A NEAR ACCIDENT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10-15 MPH THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN AND THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO DIFFICULT TO DRIVE. THE FAILURE HAD OCCURRED FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 WEEKS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER OR A LOCAL MECHANIC. HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS AND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,345 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,622.
I HAVE A 2006 F-150 WITH 99,000 MILES. THE ENGINE DEVELOPED A MISS WHEN UNDER HEAVY LOAD. CHECKING THE SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE RECOMMEND BY FORD, THE SPARK PLUGS NEED TO BE CHANGED AT 100,000 MILES. I TRIED TO CHANGE THE PLUGS MYSELF AND BROKE THE FIRST ONE. I STOPPED AT THAT POINT AND HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER. THEY BROKE FIVE ADDITIONAL PLUGS AND THE VEHICLE WAS DOWN OVER NIGHT. FORD HAS ISSUED TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS ON CHANGING THE SPARK PLUGS. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE TO FORD. WHEN I CONTACTED FORD THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY CAN DUE SINCE ITS OUT OF WARRANTY. I WAS STUCK WITH A $300 LABOR BILL WHICH DID NOT INCLUDE $75 FOR SPARK PLUGS AND $98 FOR THE TOW. FORD NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THERE ENGINEERING MISTAKE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD F150. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. NO THERE WERE NO INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THEN DRIVEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE ONLY TWO QUARTS OF OIL IN THE ENGINE INSTEAD OF THE SEVEN IT WAS SUPPOSED TO CONTAIN; THE DEALER COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHY THE VEHICLE WAS LOSING SO MUCH OIL. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO HESITATE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 23,400 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 23,423. I HAVE A 2006 F150 WITH THE 5.4 ENGINE. I HAVE NEVER REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS AND THE TRUCK HAS 144K MILES. I AM NOW STUCK WITH ~$1800 TO PULL THE CAB TO GET TO THE HEADS TO GET THE PLUGS OUT. 2 MECHANICS CANNOT GET IT OUT NORMALLY. I OWN A 2006 FORD F150 TRUCK WITH 44,000 MILES ON IT. OVER THE PAST MONTH OR SO IT HAS DEVELOPED A SEVERE BRAKING ISSUE WHICH WHEN UNDER MODERATE TO HEAVY BRAKING CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO SHUDDER SEVERELY AND MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO STOP. IT OCCURS EVERTIME YOU APPLY THE BRAKES. I HAVE SPOKEN TO OTHER F150 OWNERS WHO HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE ON THE SAME VEHICLE AND THE 2007 MODEL ALSO. THE BRAKE PADS ARE IN GOOD CONDITION, HOWEVER THE BREAK ROTORS HAVE A VERY UNUSUAL SCRATCH PATTERNS RUNNING FROM THE CENTER OF THE BRAKE ROTOR SURFACE TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE SURFACE. I HAVE NEVER SEEN THIS ON A VEHICLE BEFORE. I DO KNOW THAT ONE FELLOW HAD TO REPLACE ALL 4 OF HIS BRAKE ROTORS ON A 2007 MODEL TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, NOT NORMAL IF YOU ASK ME. LOUD SCREECHING NOISES FROM THE FRONT END. IT HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND I TOOK IT TO AN OUT OF TOWN DEALERSHIP BECAUSE I WAS OVER 125 MILES FROM HOME. IT SEEMS A 4 YEAR OLD TRUCK WITH 69K MILES HAD TO HAVE BOTH HUB ASSEMBLIES REPLACED, BOTH ACTUATORS AND BOTH VALVE ASSEMBLIES. MECHANIC STATED THAT HE'S HAD TO REPLACE OVER 25 FORD F-150 TRUCKS FOR THE SAME DEFECT (HIS WORDS). *TR
MY VEHICLE IS SHOWING EXTREME HESITATION IN ACCELERATION WHEN ENTERING A HIGHWAY OR PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE. DURING THESE PROCESSES, MY VEHICLE WILL START BACKFIRING AND MISSING. THE "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT COMES ON AT THIS TIME. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO TWO DIFFERENT STATE LICENSED MECHANICS, AND CHAPMAN FORD DEALERSHIP IN PHILADELPHIA. ALL THREE TOLD ME THE PLUGS SHOULD HAVE LASTED 100,000 MILES OR BETTER AND THAT THEY HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE DESIGN OF THE ENGINE AND THESE PLUGS ARE VERY COMPLICATED TO REPLACE. SPECIAL TOOLS WOULD BE NEEDED TO REPLACE THEM. THEY ALSO SAID IT IS VERY COMMON THESE PLUGS WOULD BREAK OFF WHEN BEING REMOVED. THE COST TO REPLACE THE PLUGS WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY $400 TO $550, WITH AN ADDITIONAL COST IF ANY PLUGS BREAK. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THERE IS NO RECALL WHEN THERE SHOULD BE. THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM AT THE EXPENSE OF THE OWNER, AS WELL AS A SAFETY ISSUE. I REALIZE SPARK PLUGS ARE NOT UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THE COST TO REPLACE THEM IS RIDICULOUS BECAUSE AS THE MECHANICS STATED, IT WAS A FLAW IN THE DESIGN OF THE PLUGS AND THEY CORRODE TO THE ENGINE BLOCK. FORD REALIZED THIS AND CHANGED THE PLUGS IN NEWER VEHICLES TO A NON-CORROSIVE PLUG. I FEEL THE CUSTOMER SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR A POOR DESIGN FROM FORD. I OWN A 2006 FORD F150 PICKUP TRUCK. ON 07/15/2010 I NOTICED THAT THE CRUISE CONTROL DASHBOARD INDICATOR LAMP CAME ON SEVERAL TIMES WITHOUT ME ENGAGING THE CONTROL. LATER I DURING THE EVENING I NOTICED NOT ONLY THE CRUISE CONTROL DASHBOARD INDICATOR LAMP TURNING ON AND OFF, BUT ALSO THE RIGHT SIDE STEERING WHEEL CRUISE CONTROL BUTTONS WERE NOT LIGHTING UP THOUGH THE HEADLAMPS WERE ON. I ATTEMPTED TO GET THE ISSUED REPAIRED AT THE LOCAL DEALER, BUT CLOSEST APPOINTMENT WAS AT THE END OF FOLLOWING WEEK. TWO DAYS LATER, ON 07/17/2010 I WAS OPERATING THE TRUCK, I EXPERIENCED THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGING AS I ACCELERATED. THE TRUCK CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE EVEN THOUGH I HAD NOT ENGAGED THE CRUISE CONTROL, NOR WAS MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. I WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL BY DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL AND PUTTING THE TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL. I BROUGHT THE TRUCK TO NEAREST FORD DEALER FOR REPAIR. WHILE TRAVELING THE APPROXIMATELY 5 MILE RIDE, THE CRUISE CONTROL CONTINUE TO ENGAGE ON ITS OWN. THE FORD DEALER WAS ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM, CITING A DEFECTIVE CRUISE CONTROL SWITCH. 2006 FORD F-150 SUPER CREW 5.4L V8 WITH APPROXIMATELY 28000 MILES BEGAN TO RUN ROUGH WHEN I LET OFF THE ACCELERATOR. UPON RESTART, THE VEHICLE WAS SMOKING HEAVILY AND VERY ROUGH TO IDLE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AT THAT POINT. VEHICLE WAS SLUGGISH, HAD HARDLY ANY POWER. TOOK TO LOCAL FORD DEALER WHO ADVISED THAT FUEL INJECTORS FOR CYLINDERS 7 AND 8 FAILED, FLOODED THE CYLINDERS AND CAUSED A HYDROLOCK. INITIALLY I WAS ADVISED THAT THIS WAS A $400 REPAIR TO SWITCH OUT THE INJECTORS. UPON SUBSEQUENT INSPECTION, IT WAS DETERMINED THAT SIGNIFICANT ENGINE DAMAGE HAD OCCURRED FROM A THROWN ROD. DEALER NOW ADVISING THAT A NEW MOTOR WILL BE REQUIRED. VEHICLE HAS MANUFACTURE DATE AS 1/2006 (DRIVERS DOOR STICKER). FORD ADVISES THAT WHILE 2005 ENGINES HAD THIS SAME ISSUE, MY ENGINE WAS NOT AFFECTED AND IS NOT SUBJECT TO RECALL. *TR

I HAD A FUEL INJECTOR FAIL THAT COMPLETELY RUINED THE ENGINE AT 71K MILES. I HAD TO HAVE IT REPLACED. I WAS VERY SURPRISED TO SEE THAT MY PROBLEM WAS EXACTLY LIKE THE FORD 2005 CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 07M08 PROBLEM. MY TRUCK WAS BUILT IN 2005, BUT TITLED AS A 2006. I HAVE TALKED AND WROTE TO FORD BUT THEY WOULD NOT HELP ME. I TOLD THEM I STILL HAVE THE FAILED INJECTOR AND THEY WOULDN'T EVEN LOOK AT IT TO SEE IF IT WAS ONE OF THE DEFECTIVE PARTS THAT SPURRED THE 07M08 PROGRAM. I BELIEVE FORD NEEDS TO EXPAND THE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 07M08 TO INCLUDE 2006 MODELS. I WOULD LOVE FOR THE NHTSA TO PRESSURE FORD TO REVISIT THIS ISSUE. THIS WAS HARD FOR ME BECAUSE I STILL HAVE THE INJECTOR THAT FAILED. I KEEP IT AS A REMINDER OF THE $8,000 I HAD TO SPEND ON A NEW ENGINE. CERTAIN FORD MAKES, MODELS AND MOTORS ARE KNOWN FOR EJECTING SPARK PLUGS WHICH DESTROYS THE IGNITION COIL AND IS A FIRE HAZARD. THEY ARE ALSO KNOWN FOR THE SPARK PLUG BREAKING WHILE TRYING TO REMOVE THEM WHICH IS A FINANCIAL BURDEN ON THE CUSTOMER AS WELL AS A RISK THE MOTOR WHILE TRYING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THERE ARE TSB'S ON THIS. I NEVER RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD TO GIVE ME THE HEADS UP ON THIS AND LEARNED AFTER THE FACT OF ATTEMPTING TO GET A TUNE UP.........NOW STUCK WITH TWO BROKEN SPARK PLUGS STUCK IN THE MOTOR AND HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH THIS IS GOING TO COST ME IN THE END. I AM WITHOUT MY TRUCK WHILE WE WAIT FOR A TOOL THAT WILL HOPEFULLY REMOVE THE BROKE OFF SLEEVES. IF IT DOESN'T WORK I WILL HAVE TO HAVE THE HEAD PULLED AND WHO KNOWS IF IT WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. EVEN IF IT REMOVES IT, I WON'T KNOW UNTIL SOMETHING HAPPENS IF IT ENDS UP CAUSING DAMAGE TO MY ENGINE. I HAVE HAD BAD EXPERIENCES WITH FORD - TWO VEHICLES NOW. MY FIRST PROBLEM WITH THIS F150 (TRITON) WAS WHEN THE COMPUTER SHUT DOWN LEAVING ME STRANDED IN ANOTHER STATE BECAUSE THE WIRES WERE RUBBING AGAINST THE STEERING COLUMN BRACKET. I PUT A LOT OF MILES ON SO IT WAS IN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND THE DEDUCTIBLE PAID THE REPAIR. FORD HAD NO INTENTION OF TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT EVEN THOUGH IT WOULD HAVE NORMALLY BEEN UNDER ORIGINAL WARRANTY EXCEPT FOR THE MILES I PUT ON A VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO ROADSIDE SERVICE IN THE AREA I WAS IN AND I GOT STUCK WITH ALL KINDS OF EXPENSES FROM IT. SEEMS OUR AMERICAN MANUFACTURERS SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR MULTIPLE KNOWN DEFECTS AS WELL AS OUR FOREIGN MANUFACTURERS. THIS PROBLEM FIRST SURFACED ON THE MORNING OF 6/25/2010. I, ALONG WITH A FRONT SEAT PASSENGER, WERE RETURNING FROM RUNNING AN ERRAND WHEN I NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS FLASHING INTERMITTENTLY AND THAT THE 'PASSENGER AIR BAG DISABLED' INDICATOR WAS LIT. THE LATER EVENTUALLY RETURNED TO ITS NORMAL STATE, OFF, BUT THE AIR BAG INDICATOR REMAINED ON INTERMITTENTLY. I DROVE THE VEHICLE AGAIN ON 6/27/2010 WITH THE FOLLOWING SYMPTOMS: THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS INTERMITTENT AND AT THE SAME TIME THE AN WARNING CHIME, AT 1 SECOND INTERVALS, WAS HEARD. THE 'PASSENGER AIR BAG DISABLED' INDICATOR REMAINED LIT WITHOUT A FRONT SEAT PASSENGER. THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN DRIVEN ON 7/5/2010 WITH THE SAME INDICATIONS. AS A RESULT, I AM HESITANT TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE UNTIL I DO MORE RESEARCH OR SPEAK TO A CERTIFIED SERVICE FACILITY.
