I HAD A BLOWOUT ON THE PASSENGER FRONT TIRE GOING 65 MPH IN THE LEFT LANE OF A HIGHWAY. MY 2007 FORD 150- SUPERCREW DROPPED DOWN AND IMMEDIATELY PULLED RIGHT. I COULD NOT STEER AWAY FROM AN 18 WHEELER THAT WAS IN THE RIGHT LANE. I BOUNCED OFF THE 18 WHEELER AND IT KNOCKED MY WHEEL STRAIGHT. I WAS ABLE TO GAIN CONTROL OF MY TRUCK. I HAD $5000 IN PROPERTY DAMAGE . THE 18 WHEELER DID GO OFF THE ROAD AND HAD $70000 WORTH OF DAMAGE. THE NEXT MORNING AFTER PICKING MY TRUCK UP FROM THE BODYSHOP I HAD ANOTHER BLOWOUT ON THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE. THIS TIME I WAS GOING 35 MPH AND WAS ABLE TO CONTROL MY TRUCK. THE BACK TIRES WERE FINE. THESE 2 BLOWOUTS OCCURRED WITHIN 1. 5 HOURS OF DRIVING ALL IN THE FRONT. TIRES ARE NOT DESIGNED TO HANDLE THE EXCESS WEIGHT OF A F150 SUPERCREW. I HAD BF GOODRICH LONG TRAIL ON MY LAST SUPERCREW AND HAD EXCELLENT RESULTS. I SPENT $690 TO REPLACE ALL GENERAL AMERITRAC TIRES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WEBBING ON THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT SEAT BELT IS SEPARATING. AS A CONSEQUENCE HE IS NOT PROPERLY SECURED IN THE VEHICLE. HE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING THE VEHICLE INSPECTED AND REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 16,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD F-150. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WHILE HE WAS REPLACING THE SPARK PLUGS. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE REASON THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED OTHER THAN HE KNEW OTHER VEHICLE OWNERS WHO HAD THE SAME ISSUE. THE COST TO REPLACE THE ENGINE WAS $6,400 SINCE IT HAD TO BE REPLACED WITH THE UPDATED VERSION PRODUCED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT OFFER HIM ANY ASSISTANCE AND ADVISED HIM TO SPEAK WITH THE DEALER. HE ASKED THE MANUFACTURER IF HE COULD BUY AN ENGINE FOR $1,800 BUT THEY REFUSED TO ANSWER THE QUESTION. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 148,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 146,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 1 MPH HE APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE PEDAL REMAINED DEPRESSED UNTIL HIS FOOT WAS ALSO APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. HE HAD TO QUICKLY MANEUVER HIS FOOT OFF OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM ACCELERATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO REPAIRS FOR THAT TYPE OF FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE BEGAN TO RECUR INTERMITTENTLY AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE HE WAS AGAIN INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO REPAIRS FOR THIS TYPE OF FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO RECUR INTERMITTENTLY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
BOUGHT NEW IN 2007 FORD F-150 PICKUP TRUCK ALL ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT AND OWNER ONLY 19,000 MILES ON ORIGINAL TIRES. BLEW OUT DURING NORMAL DRY DRIVING CONDITIONS PULLING A EMPTY 16 FT TRAILER. IF IT HADN'T BEEN THAT IT WAS THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE AND LATE AT NIGHT ON A DIVIDED HIGHWAY WOULD HAVE HAD A WRECK. TRUCK WENT ALL OVER THE ROAD DUE TO THE BLOW OUT. VALVE STEM COMPLETELY GONE. THESE TIRES WERE THE ORIGINAL HANKOOK 17 INCH TIRES THAT WERE SOLD WITH THIS TRUCK AND THE TRUCK ONLY HAD 19K MILES THE WHOLE SIDE OF THE TIRE BLEW THE TREAD IS STILL THERE SIDE OF TIRE IN SHREDS AND NO VALVE STEM AT ALL JUST AN EMPTY HOLE WHERE IT SHOULD BE. IF THIS HAD OF BEEN A STEERING TIRE COULD HAVE POSSIBLY LOST CONTROL. I STILL HAVE 3 MORE OF THESE TIRES ON THE TRUCK; IS THERE A RECALL ON THE STEMS OR TIRES FOR THESE TRUCKS WHAT SHOULD I DO? I CURRENTLY HAVE THE SPARE ON THE TRUCK WILL THIS HAPPEN TO IT? DO THE TIRES NEED REPLACING? THEY STILL HAVE PLENTY OF TREAD BUT ARE THEY DEFECTIVE/SAFE? WILL OR SHOULDN'T THE TRUCK WARRANTY COVER THIS? *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR TIRE BECAME FLAT. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE TIRE AND CONTINUED TO HIS DESTINATION. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT THE VALVE STEM CAUSED THE TIRE FAILURE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE VALVE STEM ON THE TIRE THAT FAILED AND CHECKED THE OTHER TIRES. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED HIM THAT THE VEHICLE IS UNDER WARRANTY; HOWEVER, THEY WILL ONLY REPLACE DEFECTIVE PARTS BUT NOT PARTS. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000.
FAILURE OF TIRE VALVE STEM RESULTING IN A RAPID FLAT TIRE. *TR
TUESDAY MORNING WHEN I WENT OUT TO MY TRUCK THE TIRE LOOKED TO ME TO BE LOW ON AIR AND LOW PRESSURE LIGHT WAS ON IN THE TRUCK. I DROVE TO MY SHOP (APPROX. 7.2 MI.), TOOK OFF THE WHEEL TO CHECK FOR LEAKS (FOUND NON), CHECKED THE AIR PRESSURE AND IT WAS AT 28 LBS, I FILLED THE TIRE WITH AIR TO 36 LBS. THE LOW PRESSURE INDICATOR LIGHT DID NOT GO OUT. I CHECKED THE OTHER 3 TIRES AND FOUND THEM ALL TO BE LOW SO I FILLED THEM WITH AIR TO 36 LBS AND THE LIGHT WENT OUT. AT THE END OF THE DAY I DROVE HOME, THEN TOOK MY WIFE TO DINNER (APPROX. 5 MI.). WHEN WE PULLED INTO THE RESTAURANT PARKING LOT AND TURNED RIGHT INTO A PARKING SPOT, THE LEFT FRONT TIRE BLEW OFF THE RIM AS I CAME TO A STOP. I AM NOT AS CONCERNED ABOUT GETTING A 'FREE' TIRE AS I AM OF THE SAFETY FACTOR INVOLVED. I HAVE 4 HANKOOK TIRES ON THIS TRUCK AND IT CONCERNS ME THAT ANOTHER ONE MAY BLOW APART (POSSIBLY AT FREEWAY SPEED). I DO BELIEVE THAT THIS WAS A DEFECTIVE TIRE. I AM 65 YEARS OLD AND I'VE WORKED ON CARS ALL MY LIFE AND I'VE NEVER SEEN A TIRE BEAD SPLIT THE WAY THIS ONE DID. I ALSO HAVE ASSOCIATES IN THE AUTOMOTIVE BUSINESS WHO AFTER SEEING THE DAMAGED TIRE COMPLETELY AGREE WITH ME. I WOULD HATE TO SEE A REPEAT OF THE FORD EXPLORER TIRE PROBLEM THAT OCCURRED WITH FIRESTONE SEVERAL YEARS BACK; AND I HATE TO THINK THERE ARE MORE DEFECTIVE TIRES OUT THERE. I SPOKE WITH AND EMAILED THIS INFORMATION TO AL ABRADOR AT HANKOOK TIRE AND HE SAID 'IT WAS THE FAULT OF THE PERSON THAT MOUNTED THE TIRES', HE ALSO SAID THAT HANKOOK HAS HAD NO OTHER COMPLAINTS REGARDING THESE TIRES. I WENT TO THE TIRE SHOP WHERE I'VE DONE BUSINESS FOR THE PAST 20 YEARS AND THEY SAID THEY HAD NEVER SEEN A BROKEN BEAD LIKE THIS ONE. AFTER LOOKING AT THE NHTSA SITE I SEE THERE ARE INDEED MANY COMPLAINTS REGARDING HANKOOK TIRES. AGAIN, I AM CONCERNED WITH MY OWN AS WELL AS PUBLIC SAFETY IN THIS MATTER. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 FORD, F150 EXTENDED CAB, THE BRAKE ROTOR HAVE WARPED. THIS COULD BE A SAFETY PROBLEM IF THIS A REGULAR OCCURRENCE WITH THIS MODEL. THE SHOP WHICH I CARRIED MY VEHICLE TO TOLD ME THAT IF THE COMPANY USED CERTAIN BRANDS OF ROTORS THAT WERE MADE IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES WON'T STAND UP TO HEAT. IF FORD USED THESE PRODUCTS ON THE ASSEMBLY LINE BECAUSE THEY'RE CHEAPER, SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE. *TR
AT 12000 MILES THE ROTORS ARE COMPLETELY WARPING. IT'S ESPECIALLY NOTICEABLE WHEN DRIVING AT SPEEDS OF OVER 50 MPH. I CAN SEE AND FEEL THE BED BOUNCING AND CAN FEEL IT IN THE STEERING WHEEL. DEALER WILL DO NOTHING UNDER WARRANTY. THEY SAID THEY WOULD LOOK AT THEM BUT WOULD HAVE TO CHARGE ME. I ALSO SPOKE WITH FORD DIRECTLY, THEY WILL ALSO OFFER NO ASSISTANCE. I'VE HEARD OF THIS SITUATION HAPPENING MANY TIMES AND FORD WILL DO NOTHING TO CORRECT IT. *TR
I READ AN ARTICLE IN THE NEWSPAPER ABOUT AN INVESTIGATION YOU ARE DOING ON FORD TAURUS AND SABLE VEHICLES IN THE 2001 TO 2006 MODEL YEARS FOR ACCELERATING ON THEIR OWN. I PURCHASED MY TRUCK IN FEBRUARY OF 2009 USED AND, IN THE THREE YEARS I HAVE OWNED IT, IT HAS DONE THE SAME THING ON FOUR SEPERATE OCCASIONS. I HAD IT CHECKED OUT BY THE LOCAL FORD DEALER IN MY HOME TOWN AND THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. NOTHING SHOWED UP ON THEIR ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, I WAS UNHOOKING MY TRAVEL TRAILER AND PUT IT IN DRIVE TO PULL AWAY AND IT SURGED FORWARD IN MY DRIVEWAY. THE SECOND TIME, I WAS IN A CROWDED PARKING LOT AND IT SURGED FORWARD WHILE I WAS TRYING TO PARK. THE THIRD TIME, I WAS PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. THE FOURTH TIME, I WAS PULLING INTO AN AUTOMATED CAR WASH AND NEARLY RAN PAST THE ATTENDANTS AND NEARLY CRASHED INTO THE EQUIPMENT. EACH TIME I WAS ABLE TO SHIFT IT INTO NEUTRAL AND TURN THE ENGINE OFF. IT REVS UP SO MUCH THAT I CAN'T HOLD IT WITH THE BRAKE. I THINK THIS SOUNDS LIKE WHAT YOU ARE INVESTIGATING ON THE OTHER VEHICLES AND IT MAY BE HAPPENING IN A WIDER RANGE OF FORD VEHICLES. I WOULD LOVE NOT HAVING TO WORRY ABOUT WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN NEXT. *TR
MY TRUCK STARTING HAVING BRAKES PROBLEMS (VIBRATION WHEN STOPPING) AT AROUND 25,000 MILES. TOOK IT IN TO DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION WITH 29,000 MILES ON IT. ENDED UP MACHINING ALL ROTORS (NOT UNDER WARRANTY). I'M NOW EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM AT 42,000 MILES. I BELIEVE THE ROTORS AND CALIPERS ARE SEVERELY UNDERSIZED CONSIDERING THE WEIGHT OF THE TRUCK. I SUGGEST THAT FORD MAKE GOOD ON THE NEXT BRAKE JOB. HAD A 88 CHEVY P/U AND WENT 75,000 MILES BEFORE REPLACING THE FRONT PADS. FORD HAS ERRED ON IT'S ENGINEERING. *TR
1. TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT ALERT, FOLLOWED BY IMMEDIATE DROP IN TIRE PRESSURE. TRIED TO ADD ADDITIONAL AIR, BUT TIRE WOULD NOT MAINTAIN AIR PRESSURE. AIR COULD BE HEARD ESCAPING FROM VALVE STEM. 2. TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT WOULD COME ON ONCE ABOUT EVERY 6 MONTHS SINCE PURCHASE OF NEW VEHICLE. TIRE PRESSURE WAS CHECKED MONTHLY. 3. SERVICED AT NATIONWIDE, NON-DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER; MECHANIC FOUND 4 DEFECTIVE, UNREPAIRABLE VALVE STEMS. REPLACED WITH NEW VALVE STEMS. WAS TOLD BY SERVICE MANAGER TO CONTACT LOCAL DEALERSHIP/MANUFACTURER FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF PARTS. *TR
2007 FORD F150 VALVE STEM BROKE AND CAUSED A BLOWOUT ON THE HIGHWAY. AFTER RECOVERING FROM BEING DRIVEN OFF THE ROAD, I NOTICED THAT MY THREE OTHER TIRES HAD CRACKED VALVE STEMS AS WELL. FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE AN IMMEDIATE RECALL AND DEAL WITH THIS HAZARD BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED. *TR
HAVE EXPERIENCED EXTENSIVE BRAKE DUST ON THE FRONT WHEELS ALMOST FROM DAY 1. LATELY, AT ABOUT 28,000 MILES THE FRONT END WOBBLES AND SHIMMIES WHEN BRAKING. NOT SO BAD AT LOWER SPEEDS BUT REALLY BAD IF YOU HAVE TO BRAKE FAIRLY HARD WHILE ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY FROM SPEEDS OF 65 MPH OR MORE. HAD TIRES ROTATED AND BALANCED WHICH HELPED A BIT BUT PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD F150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55MPH. THE ENGINE FAILED AND A FIRE OCCURRED WITHIN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE FIRE CHIEF INVESTIGATOR LOCATED THE FAILURE AT THE FUEL CROSS OVER LINE. THE FIRE REPORT INCIDENT NUMBER IS 2009-09331. THE VEHICLE WAS CRASHED. THE CURRENT AND THE FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 52,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKES, THE PEDAL WOULD VIBRATE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ROTORS WERE NOT ALIGNED AND MADE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS. WITHIN 10,000 MILES, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE ROTORS WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE BRAKES WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE PERTAINING TO BRAKES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 40,606.
I HAVE A 2007 FORD F150 IT HAS 14,454 MILES. I PURCHASED IT BRAND NEW. MY FIRST EXPERIENCE OF HAVING THE TRUCK ACCELERATE UNEXPECTEDLY WAS ABOUT A YEAR AGO. BOTH MYSELF AND MY SISTER WAS IN THE TRUCK AT THE TIME. I STARTED THE ENGINE AND HAD MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND SHIFTED IT IN TO DRIVE WHEN IT ACCELERATED FORWARD FOR NO REASON. I DID NOT THINK MUCH ABOUT IT UNTIL IT HAPPENED AGAIN ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO. I WAS PARKED ON THE SIDE OF MY HOUSE AND STARTED TO MAKE A U-TURN WHEN THE TRUCK AGAIN ACELERATED WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND ALMOST CRASHING INTO MY NEIGHBORS GARAGE. SINCE WE DON'T DRIVE THE TRUCK VERY OFTEN I DID NOT TAKE IT IN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED. ON APRIL 12TH OF 2009 MY SON WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE AND DECIDE HE WAS NOT STRAIGHT, SO HE BACKED UP AND WHEN HE PUT THE VEHICLE INTO DRIVE WITH HIS FOOT ON THE BRAKE IT ACCELERATED FORWARD INTO A BACK OF A BUILDING. WE HAD 2 WITNESS, SAYING THAT HIS FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. NO ONE WAS HURT, ONLY DAMAGE TO THE BUILDING AND THE TRUCK. I HAVE NOW NOTIFIED THE REPAIR SHOP AND GOING TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH FORD. IT APPEARS THIS HAS HAPPEN MANY TIMES WITH THE SAME VEHICLE AS WELL AS OTHER VEHICLES. *TR
I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THREE TIRE VALVES ON MY 2007 FORD F-150. UPON INSPECTION OF THE THIRD, THE NUMBER IS T 414. LOOKING IT UP, I DISCOVERED THAT THERE WERE PREVIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THIS VALVE STEM. OF COURSE, I ELECTED TO REPLACE THE FOURTH AS WELL. MY DEALER SAID THAT HE HAD NEVER HEARD OF A RECALL. GIVEN THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF THEIR FAILURE, I'M NOT HAPPY. IT COULD HAVE BEEN DANGEROUS DUE TO BEING ON AN EXPRESSWAY AT HIGHER SPEEDS WHEN THE THIRD FAILED. TWO STEMS FAILED IN AUGUST OF 2008. THE THIRD FAILED ON APRIL 18TH, 2009. *TR
I HAVE HAD THREE INCIDENTS OF THE ENGINE SURGING/REVVING WHEN IN A STOPPED POSITION ENGAGED IN DRIVE GEAR AND ANOTHER ONE WHILE IN REVERSE. EACH TIME I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE WITH BOTH FEET TO TRY TO KEEP THE VEHICLE FROM MOVING BUT IT CONTINUED TO LUNGE AHEAD ANYWAY. I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER. THEY SAID FORD HAD A FAIL-SAFE BUILT IN--THAT I WAS NOT IN DANGER BUT THEY REPROGRAMMED IT WITH A COMPUTER. SEEMED OK FOR AWHILE. LAST NIGHT IT HAPPENED AGAIN BUT REVERSE WHILE I WAS BACKING UP IN A PARKING LOT. I EVEN HAD SKID MARKS TRYING TO STOP IT THIS TIME. ALSO, THE TRANSMISSION PAUSES/COASTS BEFORE ENGAGING INTO THE NEXT GEAR. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE IT IN FOR SERVICE, BUT I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE RISKS OF HAVING A COLLISION, DAMAGING PROPERTY, OR HURTING SOMEONE--INCLUDING MYSELF IF I END UP HITTING SOMETHING. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO TAKE IT IN FOR SERVICE, BUT I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE RISKS OF HAVING A COLLISION, DAMAGING PROPERTY, OR HURTING SOMEONE--INCLUDING MYSELF IF I END UP HITTING SOMETHING. DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL ROTOR AND BALL BEARINGS, ROTOR STARTED MAKING NOISE OF A GRINDING APRIL 2009 WE REPLACED THE ROTOR AND 2 MONTHS LATER THE NOISE STARTED UP AGAIN, WE THEN REPLACED IT AGAIN. THE ROTOR EVERY 2 MONTHS WILL BE COMPLETELY ATE UP AND BROKEN DOWN. THIS LAST TIME WE REPLACED ROTOR ON THE DRIVERS SIDE THE LEFT FRONT AND AGAIN 2 MONTHS LATER HAD TO DO IT AGAIN IN DEC. 2010. BATTERY DEAD AFTER LESS THAN 2 YEARS. DEALER WILL NOT REPLACE. DEALER CLAIMS NON-EOM STEREO DRAINS BATTERY IN ONLY MINUTES. STEREO UNHOOKED.. PROBLEM PERSISTS. THE TRUCK TOOK A COUPLE OF RETRIES TO GET IT FROM START TO FINISH OF A TX STATE INSPECTION BECAUSE THE BATTERY DIES, EVEN AFTER CHARGING OVERNIGHT. LAST TIME. IT GOT THROUGH INSPECTION, BUT NEEDED A JUMP START AFTER INSPECTION. I CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE. THE CSR INFORMED ME THAT THEY ARE GOING TO BELIEVE THEIR DEALER OVER A CUSTOMER. NO HELP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED WATER WAS ENTERING THE VEHICLE FROM THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT ABOVE THE CABIN. AS A RESULT, THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE WAS BEGINNING TO MILDEW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND REPLACED THE BRAKE LIGHT ASSEMBLY SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THE REPAIR DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE AND THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 54,000.
IN FEBRUARY, 2009, I EXPERIENCED A LOW TIRE WARNING LIGHT ON MY LEFT REAR TIRE. I TOOK IT TO WAL-MART AND THE TECH IMMEDIATELY KNEW IT WAS THE STEM. HE REPLACED THE STEM AND BALANCED THE TIRE. IN MARCH, 2009, MY RIGHT REAR WENT FLAT. SAME PROBLEM. IF YOU MOVE THE STEM, YOU CAN HEAR THE AIR LEAK OUT. NITROGEN IN MY CASE. THE STEM BASE APPEARS TO BE TOO SMALL FOR THE RIM. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WAS LOSING AIR. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT REPAIR THE TIRE. THE VALVE STEM HAD A SENSOR, BUT IT WAS CRACKED. A REPORT WAS FILED WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND THEY STATED THAT THE STEMS WERE NOT DAMAGED; THEREFORE, THE DEALER DID NOT NEED TO BE REPLACE THE STEMS. THE VALVE STEM INFORMATION WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 25,000.
BRAKES ARE SPONGY AND BLEED DOWN, REPEATED SHORT BRAKING BETWEEN STOPLIGHTS PEDAL WENT TO THE STOP, TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP, MECH. CHECKED IT SAID IT WAS NORMAL, OTHER F150 OWNERS SAY NOT LIKE THEIR BRAKES. HARD BRAKING LAST WEEK PEDAL WENT TO STOP ALMOST RESULTING IN REAREND COLLISION. TIRE VALVE STEM FAILURE ON MY 2007 FORD F150. I'VE RECEIVED FORD'S SAFETY NOTICE 5 MONTHS AFTER ONE OF MY TIRE VALVE STEMS HAVE FAILED. THEIR NOTICE GAVE NO INDICATION THAT THEY INTEND TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE VALVE STEMS. THEIR REMEDY AS OUTLINED FOR CORRECTION OF THE PROBLEM BY MONTHLY INSPECTION OF VALVE STEM IS FAR FROM CORRECTIVE OR PREVENTIVE. I HAD VERY RECENTLY CHECKED TIRE PRESSURE, AND INSPECTED TIRES, VALVE STEMS, AND LUG NUT TORQUE PRIOR TO A LONG TRIP WHEN MY VALVE STEM FAILED. THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE VALVE FRACTURED ONE YEAR AGO AND MOST RECENTLY; THE REAR DRIVER SIDE VALVE WAS FRACTURED. WHEN THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR, THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR WOULD FAIL. ON 12-31-08 HAD LOW TIRE LIGHT IN TRUCK. WENT TO TIRE KINGDOM AND WAS INFORMED THAT I HAD A BAD STEM ON DRIVERS REAR TIRE. ITEM WAS REPLACED. ON 1-2-08 LOW TIRE LIGHT AGAIN AND RETURNED TO TIRE KINGDOM. THIS TIME IT WAS THE TWO FRONT TIRES LEAKING AIR FROM THE STEMS. ON 1-4-08 I RESPONDED BACK TO TIRE KINGDOM AFTER READING THAT THE FORD F-150 WAS ONE OF THE TYPES OF VEHICLES THAT MIGHT HAVE FAULTY STEMS. I CONTACTED YOUR OFFICE AND WAS TOLD TO MAKE SURE I GET THE OLD STEMS REPLACED ON MY LAST TWO TIRES FOR SAFETY REASONS. I HAVE THE TWO STEMS NOW. THE ONE THAT WAS ON MY PASSENGER REAR HAS A CRACK STARTING ON IT. THE SPARE SEEMS FINE BUT WAS CHANGED ANYWAY. FRONT LEFT TIRE DEFLATED RAPIDLY WHILE TRAVELING ON AN INTERSTATE. BEFORE I COULD GET SAFELY OFF THE HIGHWAY THE TIRE CAME APART. UPON EXAMINATION THE ONLY REASON FOR THE LOSS OF AIR APPEARS TO BE A CRACKED VALVE STEM. I CHECKED THE OTHER 3 WHEELS AND FOUND THE VALVE STEMS ALL CRACKED. I COULD HAVE HAD MULTIPLE TIRE FAILURES! I PURCHASED A NEW TIRE AND AM HAVING ALL 5 VALVE STEMS REPLACED. THIS COULD VERY EASILY HAVE BEEN A DEADLY ACCIDENT. FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS IS A DEFECT, THEY SAY IT FALLS UNDER THE 12 MONTH TIRE WARRANTY, MY VEHICLE IS 17 MONTHS OLD. *TR

2007 F150 4X4 SUPERCREW: AFTER 12000 MILES FRONT BRAKE ROTOR WEAR WAS NOTED AS ABNORMAL BY TECHNICIAN. DEEP GROVES HAVE CONTINUED TO FORM IN BOTH FRONT BRAKE ROTORS. VEHICLE MILEAGE IS CURRENTLY AT 26,000 AND GROVES IN BOTH FRONT ROTORS CONTINUE TO GET DEEPER. TECHNICIANS AT DEALERSHIP CONTINUE TO SAY, QUOTE, "THE BRAKE PADS ARE REALLY HARD ON THE ROTORS BUT THE ONLY THING WE CAN DO IS TURN THE ROTORS, BUT IT WILL JUST GET WORSE UNLESS I REPLACE THE PADS. VALVE STEM FAILURE. THERE WERE ACTUALLY 2 FAILURES IN TWO WEEKS, THE FIRST ONE BEING ON OCT. 20TH, 2008. CAME OUT OF THE HOUSE AND THE TIRE WAS FLAT. THERE WAS NO SENSOR LIGHT ON PREVIOUS TO THE FLAT TIRE. ON INSPECTION AT THE TIRE DEALER IT WAS DETERMINED THAT IT WAS A FAULTY VALVE STEM, WHICH WAS THEN REPLACED AND THAT TIRE WAS FINE. SECOND INCIDENT ON DATE RECORDED BELOW I WAS EXITING THE FREEWAY, THE TIRE WENT TOTALLY FLAT AND THE SENSOR LIGHT CAME ON SIMULTANEOUSLY. BY THE TIME I COULD PULL OVER ONTO A SIDE ROAD THE TIRE WAS DESTROYED AND THE VALVE STEM WAS MISSING. TOOK TRUCK TO DEALERSHIP, WHERE THEY FOUND ANOTHER VALVE STEM READY TO FAIL. *TR

ON OCTOBER 18, 2008, AND WHILE DRIVING FROM COLLINSVILLE, OKLAHOMA TO WICHIA, KANSAS TO ATTEND A WEDDING, THE "LOW TIRE PRESSURE" WARNING BECAME LIT (AND WAS ACCOMPANIED WITH AN AUDIBLE ALARM). UPON ARRIVING AT THE DESTINATION, IT WAS NOTED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WAS EXTREMELY LOW (APPROXIMATELY 10 PSI). I WENT TO THE NEAREST CONVENIENCE STORE AND ATTEMPTED TO FILL THE TIRE (COSTING ME 75 CENTS). I NOTED THAT THE VALVE STEM WAS LEAKING AIR AS I FILLED THE TIRE. SINCE I HAD A LONG RETURN TRIP HOME, AND IT WAS LATE IN THE DAY, I DROVE NEXT DOOR TO FIRESTONE COMPLETE AUTO CARE AT 2318 N. MAIZE RD, WICHITA KS, PH: 316-773-2900, AT 4:48 PM TO HAVE THE VALVE STEM REPLACED. THEY SUBSEQUENTLY REPLACED THE VALVE STEM (TOTAL COST OF $26.55) AND I WAS BACK ON THE ROAD AN HOUR LATER AT 5:49 PM. *TR
