2908 FORD F-150 FRAME CORROSION. DEC 2016 TOOK TRUCK TO LOCAL TIRE REPAIR FACILITY. THEY ADVISED VEHICLE WAS NOT SAFE DUE TO CORROSION OF TRUCK FRAME. TRUCK IS A FORD F-150 2008 WITH APPROXIMATELY 80K MILES. THEY ADVISED NOT TO DRIVE LONG DISTANCES OR PULL ANYTHING. I TOOK IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT VEHICLE IN SEPT 2015 AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN HELPFUL. I HAVE ALSO TRIED TO CONTACT FORD WHO ONLY STATES TRUCK IS OUT OF 36,000 MILE WARRANTY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-150 EQUIPPED WITH CAPITOL PRECISION TRAC II TIRES, SIZE: 255/70R16. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE LEFT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RUBBER SEPARATED FROM THE INNER CORE OF THE TIRES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL, BUT IT EXPIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TIRES WERE REPLACEMENT TIRES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000 AND THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE AND TECHNICIAN FOUND FRAME ROTTED ON FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF VEHICLE.
LOW OIL PRESSURE MESSAGE OCCASIONALLY POPS UP
I OWN A 2008 FORD F150. IN THE YEAR OF 2014 I BEGAN TO HEAR A NOISE FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE NOISE WAS HEARD WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS AND MAKING TURNS. ON AUGUST 14, 2014 THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AND REPAIRED FOR FRONT SWAY BAR END LINKS. IN THE YEAR OF 2016 THE NOISE RETURNED WITH THE SAME SYMPTOMS. ON APRIL 5, 2016 THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AND REPAIRED FOR FRONT SWAY BAR END LINKS. IN THE SAME YEAR THE NOISE RETURNED WITH THE SAME SYMPTOMS. ON SEPTEMBER 10, 2016 THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND I INFORMED THE SERVICE ADVISOR ABOUT THE NOISE. HIS RESPONSE WAS, 'HIS MECHANICS WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO CHECK THE ISSUE DUE TO MINIMUM STAFFING'. DECEMBER 17, 2016 THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AND REPAIRED FOR FRONT SWAY BAR END LINKS. I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THIS REOCCURRING ISSUE AND ASKED THE SERVICE ADVISOR WHO WOULD I NEED TO SPEAK WITH IN REGARDS TO THIS ISSUE. HE REPLIED 'NO ONE, JUST BRING IT BACK AND WE WILL REPLACE IT FOR FREE'. I REALLY WASN'T SATISFIED WITH HIS ANSWER AND CALLED THE CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER. I INFORMED THEM OF MY SITUATION AND WAS PROVIDED A FOLLOW UP CASE NUMBER (CAS11317836). I WAS TOLD TO SPEAK WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER IN REGARDS TO THE ISSUE AND REFUNDING THE AMOUNT PAID ON AUGUST 14, 2014. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECT IN THE STABILIZER SWAY BAR LINKS AND NEED TO BE ADDRESSED. SERVICE MANAGER INDICTED THERE WILL NOT BE A REFUND AND I WILL BE PAYING FOR ANY FUTURE SWAY BAR LINK SERVICE BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS NOT UNDER WARRANTEE. FORD SELLING AND PLACING DEFECTIVE PARTS ON VEHICLES AND NOW WANT REPLACE IT AT THEIR EXPENSE. IS THIS FARE?
FAULTY CIRCUITRY IN THE REAR OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER CAUSES RED EMERGENCY BRAKE WARNING LIGHT TO STAY ON. THE ONLY FIX FROM FORD IS TO REPLACE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AT A COST OF 900 DOLLARS. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH ANYTHING ELSE ON THE TRUCK EXCEPT A LIGHT THAT WILL NOT GO OFF. THIS LIGHT WILL CAUSE MY TRUCK TO FAIL INSPECTION. MULTIPLE FORD MECHANICS I HAVE SPOKEN WITH STATE THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, ONE STATED HE HAS REPLACED 12 CLUSTERS IN JUST THIS PAST YEAR. TO SPEND 900 DOLLARS TO TURN OFF A LIGHT BULB IS INSANE FORD DEALER AND FORD CORPORATE WERE ASKED AND THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST IN THIS COST TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE MOTOR AND THE SPARK PLUG SUDDENLY BLEW OUT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED DUE TO THE ALUMINUM HEADS AND THE THREADS WERE WORN AND FRACTURED, WHICH CAUSED THEM TO DETACH. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE'S HEATING COILS THREADED IN THE HEAD COVER; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC AGAIN WHO STATED THAT THE HEATING COIL BLEW OUT AND DAMAGED THE HEAD COVER. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE HEAD COVER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OPENED CASE NUMBER: 12284440. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
THE ACTUATOR BLEND DOOR, KEEPS GOING OUT ABOUT EVERY 6 TO 8 MONTHS.
STEERING BECAME TIGHT AND HEAVY MAKING IT HARD TO TURN. MY MECHANIC FOUND THE LOWER UNIVERSAL JOINT ON THE STEERING SHAFT HAD HEAVY CORROSION AND DIDN'T FUNCTION. HE REPLACED THE STEERING SHAFT. TRUCK HAD 87,000 MILES. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION AND SHOULD BE THE SUBJECT OF A FACTORY RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW COLLAPSED INSIDE THE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW COLLAPSED A MONTH AGO. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THERE WAS DEFECTIVE HARDWARE INSIDE THE DOOR THAT NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 166,400.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY FORCE TO THE STEERING WHEEL IN ORDER TO STEER THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,792.
NEW SET OF 4 FEDERAL COURAGIA MUD TIRES (35X12.50X20) PURCHASED JUNE 2015- AT 60 MPH TRUCK WOBBLES/SHAKES UNCONTROLLABLY. FINALLY FOUND WALMART AUTO/TIRE CENTER (NOT PURCHASED FROM WALMART).TECH STATED THAT THE STEEL BELT HAD SHIFTED. WENT BACK TO ORIGINAL TIRE DEALER , NO REPLACE NO REFUND. PURCHASED 2 MORE FEDERAL COURAGIA TIRES FROM A DIFFERENT TIRE DEALER APRIL 2016 THINKING MAYBE IT WAS A FAULTY SET FROM OTHER DEALER, BUT STEEL BELT SHIFTING IN 1 OF THE 2 NEWEST TIRES AS OF 10/04/16. SAME FIERCE WOBBLE/SHAKE AT 60-MPH.
STEERING BECAME VERY HEAVY, ALMOST LIKE POWER STEERING WAS GONE. VERY HARD TO TURN AND CONTROL THE TRUCK WHILE MOVING. SUDDENLY LOOSENS UP AND WORKS AS NORMAL. DEALER SAYS IT IS THE STEERING SHAFT AND NOW REFUSES TO FIX IT. I SEE A LOT OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS HERE, WHY ISN'T FORD BEING HELD RESPONSIBLE? THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND LIFE-THREATENING. I'M GLAD IT HAPPENED TO ME AND NOT TO MY WIFE; I DON;T THINK SHE WOULD HAVE HAD THE STRENGTH TO CONTROL THE TRUCK AND COULD HAVE KILLED OR SEVERELY INJURED HERSELF OR OTHERS. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-150. WHILE COMING TO A STOP, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CAMSHAFT PHASER FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 128,000.
STEERING SHAFT MADE FROM INFERIOR MATERIAL CAUSING IT TO MALFUNCTION. VERY HARD TO TURN.
MY BROTHER IN LAW HAS A 2008 FORD F-150 AND SAID HIS STEERING SEIZED UP AND AFTER CHECKING FLUID, BELTS, ETC. IT APPEARED THE STEERING SHAFT U-JOINTS WERE BINDING. LAST WEEK MY 2008 F150 EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. WHY HASN'T FORD BEEN LIABLE FOR THIS SAFETY ISSUE. AFTER CHECKING VARIOUS FORD SITES, THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH F150'S.
AS MY WIFE WAS TURNING A CORNER THE POWER STEERING FAILED ON HER. SHE CROSSED THE CENTER LINE AND NEARLY HIT VEHICLE THAT WAS WAITING AT A STOP SIGN. SHE HAD TO JERK ON THE STEERING WHEEL VERY HARD TO GET THE TRUCK BACK IN THE PROPER LANE. MECHANIC INDICATED THIS IS FAIRLY COMMON AND FORD DEALERS ARE KEEPING THE LOWER STEERING SHAFTS-U-JOINTS IN STOCK DUE TO OLDER ONES LOCKING UP. NO RECALLS HAVE BEEN ISSUED TO THIS POINT HOWEVER, I HAD IT REPLACED AT A COST OF $490.00.
RADIATOR AND THERMOSTAT - I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE 4 RADIATORS IN MY FORD F250 TRUCK AND THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 125,000 MILES. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT FROM FORD AND THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING TO PROTECT THEIR CUSTOMERS. I HAVE BEEN STRANDED 3 TIMES AS A RESULT OF THIS DEFECT WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AT UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE HESITATED. ALSO, THE CHECK ENGINE AND ABS WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE SPARK PLUGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
I HAVE A 2008 FORD F150 I WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN OFF OF A MAIN ROAD INTO A DRIVEWAY WHILE APPLYING SLIGHT BRAKING PRESSURE WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL COMPLETELY LOCKED UP AND BRAKING WAS STIFF AT THE PEDAL CAUSING A NEAR COLLISION INTO A TREE LINE. THE ENGINE REMAINED RUNNING NEVER DIED. I HAD TO SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND RESTART TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE STEERING. NO WARNING LIGHTS ARE ON. NO DASH INDICATORS OF ANY ERRORS. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAY THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS ISSUE. ALL MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN METICULOUSLY UP TO DATE. I WILL BE TAKING MY TRUCK IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC IN THE MORNING.
I HAVE BEEN ADVISED BY THE LOCAL PHIL LONG FORD DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT MY TRUCK NEEDS THE CAM PHASERS REPLACED TO FIX THE PROBLEMS I AM EXPERIENCING. I HAVE SEEN THAT THIS IS A "VERY" COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 5.4 ENGINE AND FORD HAS RETIRED THIS ENGINE FROM THEIR VEHICLES DO TO THE FAILURES AND IT HAS BEEN KNOWN BY FORD SINCE THE 2003 MODELS AND YET THEY CONTINUED TO SELL A KNOWN FAULTY ENGINE. THEY SHOULD PAY TO HAVE THESE ENGINES REPAIRED AND NOT THE CONSUMERS. THIS IS IN COLORADO SPRINGS, CO AND THE PROBLEMS IS STILL INTERMITTENT AT THIS TIME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-150. UPON INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE, THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE COULD BE CONSIDERED DESTROYED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FRAME DAMAGE WAS SO SEVERE THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW FRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 95,000.
ON APRIL 5, 2016, WHILE DRIVING MY 2008, F150, TRITON, 4.6, ABOUT 45 MPH, ON A TWO LANE, BACK COUNTRY ROAD, A SUDDEN RATTLING AND POPPING NOISE OCCURRED. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER, POPPED THE HOOD, WHEREAS SMOKE AND THE RATTLING NOISE CONTINUED. I TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP 5 MILES AWAY. I HAVE 113,600 MILES ON MY VEHICLE AND PURCHASED IT FROM A CARMAX DEALER IN DECEMBER 2013, WITH 81,160 MILES, HAVING EXPERIENCED (NO PROBLEMS THUS FAR). I WAS TOLD BY THE FORD DEALERSHIP THAT MY #3 SPARKPLUG HAD CAUSED THE MECHANICAL ISSUE AND ALL PLUGS NEEDED REPLACING. ADDITIONALLY REPLACEMENT OF RIGHT SIDE ENGINE ISSUES RESULTED FROM NOT HAVING DONE THE 100000 MILE TUNE UP (BULL). IT HAD BEEN TUNED UP PREVIOUS TO BEING SOLD. AFTER USING CHOICE WORDS TOWARDS THE DEALER AND ADVISING HIM OF MY OWNERSHIP OF 3, LARGER V8 ENGINES, NO SPARKPLUG EXPLOSIONS HAD EVER OCCURRED IN MY LIFE. ALL MY FORMER VEHICLES WITH THE EXCEPTION OF MY 2008 F150 HAD NEVER EXPERIENCE SUCH SPARKPLUG EXPLOSION ISSUES AND THESE VEHICLES REACHED CLOSE AND OVER 200,000 MILES. MY VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY BUT DOES NOT COVER THIS ISSUE, NOR WAS THE FORD MANUFACTURE HELPFUL IN ASSISTING WITH THIS MATTER. THE TOTAL COST FOR REPAIRS IS $1295.00, AND MY FIGHT WITH FORD HAS JUST BEGUN.
ON TUESDAY, APRIL 5, 2016, WHILE DRIVING 45 MILES PER HOUR, ON A 2 LANE, BACK COUNTRY, ROAD MY FORD F150, THAT HAD 114,376 MILES BEGAN TO CLANK AND RUMBLE UP UNDER THE HOOD. THE NOISE MADE THE VEHICLE VIBRATE AS THE NOISE GOT LOUDER SO I PULLED OFF OF THE ROAD AND POPPED THE HOOD. THERE WAS SMOKE, CLICKING AND CLANKING ON TOP OF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ENGINE SO I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. I CALLED MY INSURANCE AND ASKED TO BE TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP 5 MILES AWAY. THE TRUCK WAS STILL DRIVE-ABLE BUT SMOKING AND CLANKING. THE NEXT MORNING I LEARNED #2 SPARK PLUG HAD LOOSE STRIPPING THREADS IN THE CYLINDER HEAD AND THE COIL CRACKED FROM THE PLUG BLOWING OUT. THE PLUG AND BOOTS HAD TO BE REPLACED. REPLACED THE #2 COIL AND THE DEALER HAD TO EXTRACT THE BROKEN SPARK PLUG CYLINDER #2. THE PARTS, SUPPLY, AND LABOR COST WAS $1292.24. I HAVE HAD LARGE V8 ENGINE, VEHICLES ALL OF MY LIFE WITH 200,000 MILES OR MORE ON THE ENGINE BUT NEVER ANY SPARK PLUG ISSUES WITH HIGH MILEAGE ON BOTH SPARK PLUG AND OTHER VEHICLE ENGINE PARTS. IF I HAD CONTINUED TO DRIVE MY TRUCK IT SURELY WOULD HAVE IGNITED CAUSING MORE DAMAGE OR INJURY. THE SPARK PLUG ISSUES WITH FORD NEED TO BE ADDRESSED. I PURCHASED THIS TRUCK IN DECEMBER 2013 WITH 81,160 AND HAD NO PROBLEMS FOR 2 YEARS, 4 MONTHS. AT NO TIME SHOULD SPARK PLUGS BLOW UP OR OUT UNLESS THEY ARE DEFECTIVE PARTS OR PLUGS NOT SUITABLE TO BE TRANSFIXED INTO THE CYLINDER OR ENGINE. DRIVER SAFETY IS AT RISK.
VEHICLE UNEXPECTANTLY STALLED WHILE TRAVELING 30 MPH CAUSING PARTIAL LOSS OF CONTROL OF STEERING AND BRAKING ABILITY. I WAS ABLE TO PULL VEHICLE TO SIDE OF ROAD. FAILED TO RESTART VEHICLE INITIALLY. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, VEHICLE RESTARTED. WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO DEALER ONE BLOCK AWAY WITH SEVERAL STALLS, RESTARTS. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. LOCHEN FORD IN NEWBURG, WI DIAGNOSED A FAILED FUEL DRIVER MODULE. REPLACED AT A COST OF $350 ON 3/29/16. AFTER SEARCHING ONLINE, THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON FAILURE WITH THIS VEHICLE. FAILURE OF PART IS DUE TO ACCELERATED CORROSION OF PART ITSELF DUE TO POOR DESIGN AND MOUNTING. MODIFICATIONS HAVE SINCE BEEN MADE TO LESSEN THE CHANCE OF FAILURE. THIS IS CERTAINLY OF CONCERN SINCE STALLING OF THE ENGINE AT ALL SPEEDS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I SUSPECT THOUSANDS, IF NOT MILLIONS OF THESE POPULAR TRUCKS ARE AFFECTED. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED BY FORD, BUT TO MY KNOWLEDGE, HAS NOT.
WIFE IS AT THE NCHA EASTERN NATIONAL FINALS IN JACKSON, MS. THIS IS A BIG HORSE EVEN WHICH BRINGS IN A LOT OF FORD F350, 450, AND 550 TO THE SHOW. PEOPLE SPEND A LOT OF MONEY ON THESE VEHICLES OVER 60,000 DOLLARS. THIS VEHICLE BEING AS NICE AS IT IS, HAS A MAJOR DESIGN FLAW. THEY ARE TOO EASY TO BREAK INTO. HORSE SHOW IS FROM MARCH 7 - 19. AS OF MARCH 13, 2016 IN JACKSON, MS. THERE HAVE BEEN OVER 300 FORD F SERIES PICKUP TRUCKS BROKEN INTO BY WAY OF THE DOOR HANDLE ON THE DRIVE SIDE. THE THIEFS EITHER TAKE A SCREW DRIVE AND PRY THE PLASTIC DOOR HANDLE OFF AND HAVE ACCESS TO THE INSIDE THE DOOR AND UNLOCK. OR THEY DRILL RIGHT BELOW THE PLASTIC AND UPWARD TO HIT THE MECHANICAL DEVICE THAT UNLOCKS THE DOOR AND THEY ARE IN. LESS THAN A MINUTE FOR THEM TO GAIN ACCESS. THEY CAN DO THE SAME THING TO THE REAR DOOR BY PRYING THE PLASTIC OFF AND ACCESS THE INSIDE. FORD NEEDS TO REDESIGN THIS AND GET RID OF THE CHEAP PLASTIC DOOR HANDLES. NEED TO ISSUE A RECALL FOR ALL FORD F SERIES PICKUPS AND INSTALL JIMMIE JAMMERS SO THIEVES CANNOT ACCESS THE DEVICE TO UNLOCK THE DOOR. WITH THE JIMMIE JAMMER, YOU CAN NOT USE A FLATHEAD SCREW DRIVER IN THE KEYLOCK AND TURN IT TO FORCE IT TO UNLOCK. IN FACT, FORD JUST NEEDS TO GET RID OF THE KEYLOCK ALL TOGETHER. YOU HAVE TWO WAYS OF UNLOCKING THE DOORS. KEYPAD OR KEYFOB. WHY DO YOU NEED TO DOOR LOCK.
SPARK PLUG BLEW OUT IN A CROWDED STORE PARKING LOT,' BRAKING THE COIL. A FIRE COULD HAVE RESULTED IF COIL HAD NOT BROKE. THE GAS FUMES WERE STRONG. I THOUGHT IT WAS GASKET PROBLEM AND CONTINUED TO DRIVE TO MY MECHANIC'S SHOP.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RIMS FRACTURED AND CAUSED THE BRAKES TO MALFUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
WHEN THE TRUCK IS UNDER 1000RPM AND AT NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE, IT BEGINS TO KNOCK LIKE A DIESEL AND SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THIS IS ONLY REMEDIED BY TURNING THE TRUCK OFF OR REVING THE ENGINE OVER 2000 RPM. THE CHECK ENGIN LIGHT NEVER COMES ON AND AT ALL OTHER TIMES THE TRUCK DRIVES NORMALLY. THIS HAD BEGUN TO HAPPEN MORE FREQUENTLY, INCLUDING AT RED LIGHTS, POSING A DANGER TO ANYONE DRIVING THE TRUCK. DIAGNOSIS HAS TAKEN THREE MECHANICS INCLUDING A FORD DEALERSHIP WHO IS STILL NOT 100% CERTAIN THE ISSUE SINCE THERE IS NO CHECK ENGIN LIGHT OR OTHER ISSUES.
FUEL PUMP DRIVER MODULE (FPDM) CORRODES RAPIDLY, BREAKS OPEN, AND SHORTS OUT CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SHUT OFF UNEXPECTEDLY WHILE DRIVING.
FOR THE SECOND TIME IN LESS THAN 4 MONTHS THE #2 SPARK PLUG HAS BLOWN OUT OF THE CYLENDER HEAD. FORD HAS KNOWN ABUOT THIS PROBLEM FOR YEARS BUT WILL NOT FIX IT . THIS COULD CAUSE AN EXPLOSION & FIRE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AS THE PLUG & INJECTOR AR STILL WORKING PUMPING FUEL INTO AN OPEN HOLE.

WHILE DRIVING AT 40MPH. MY TRUCK MADE A LOUD POPPING SOUND AND I PULLED OFF THE ROAD, RAISED THE HOOD AND LEARNED THAT THE SPARKPLUG BLEW OUT. I HAVE REPLACED THE SPARK PLUG AND COIL. I LEARNED THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO FIX THE PROBLEM.

WE PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2008 FORD F-150 BACK IN MAY, 2008. WE HAVE ONLY PUT ON IT 27,000 MILES AND HAVE NEVER TOWED ANYTHING WITH IT, WE DON'T EVEN HAVE A TRAILER HITCH ON IT. ON DEC. 10, 2015 THE "TRANS FAULT" LIGHT CAME ON THE DASHBOARD WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND THE TRUCK STARTED MAKING LOTS OF NOISE AND JUMPING INTO GEAR WHEN YOU PUT IT IN "DRIVE". WE DROVE TWO MILES TO OUR HOME AND GOT IT IN THE DRIVEWAY. AFTER IT WAS IN THE DRIVEWAY, WE TRIED TO DRIVE IT TO A REPAIR SHOP AND IT WOULDN'T GOT INTO ANY GEAR, NOT EVEN NEUTRAL SO IT COULDN'T BE MOVED. ON DEC. 11, 2015 WE HAD IT TOWED TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP WHERE WE HAD TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION OR HAVE IT REBUILT. WE DECIDED TO GET A BRAND NEW TRANSMISSION, IT HAD A BETTER WARRANTY. EVEN THE TRANSMISSION GUY WITH 38 YEARS EXPERIENCE COULDN'T BELIEVE THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 27,000 MILES. I HAD CONTACTED FORD BUT THEY WOULDN'T TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY AND SAID THAT THERE WEREN'T ANY RECALLS.

NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHATS WRONG, EVEN MAJOR DEALERSHIPS. NEED HELP ON THIS, HAVE TALKED TO MULTIPLE PEOPLE THAT ARE HAVINT THE SAME ISSUE. I HAVE ALERTED FORD TO THIS AND THEY HAVE BEEN NO HELP AT ALL. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL. IT HAPPENS MOSTLY WHEN DRIVING AT NORMAL SPEEDS GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. SOMETIMES IT MISSES SITTING STILL. AFTER LOOKING ON THE INTERNET I FOUND THAT THERE WERE OTHERS THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. THE CENTER LEAF OF THE THREE SPRINGS BREAK GENERALLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LEAF.

THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS ORDERED; HOWEVER, WHEN THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PART WAS RECALLED FOR TESTING PURPOSES AND UNAVAILABLE FOR AN UNKNOWN TIMEFRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 155,000.
STEERING IS HEAVY AND BINDS, ESPECIALLY DURING CORNERING AND BRAKING. FEELS LIKE POWER STEERING IS FAILING AND TRUCK IS DIFFICULT TO STEER, CONTROL AND MANEUVER AT ALL SPEEDS AND DIRECTIONS. STEERING SHAFTS AND JOINTS ARE COMPLETELY RUSTED AND SEIZING AND WILL NOT RELEASE WITH LUBRICANT. POWER STEERING FLUID AND LINES ARE FINE AND DEALER STATES THAT STEERING SHAFTS AND JOINTS MUST BE REPLACED. I WAS TRAILERING A BOAT AT 50 MPH AND STEERING WAS SEIZING, VERY HEAVY, AND SEEMED TO BE BINDING WHILE GOING AROUND BENDS IN THE ROAD AND THEN THE STEERING WOULD SUDDENLY RELEASE - OR UNSTICK - AND BECOME RESPONSIVE AGAIN. I CROSSED THE CENTER LINE AS THE STEERING SUDDENLY GOT VERY HEAVY, SLUGGISH AND UNRESPONSIVE, AND THEN RELEASED AND BECAME RESPONSIVE AGAIN. I ALMOST DROVE DIRECTLY INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THIS STEERING ISSUE IS NOW A CONSTANT AND HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING OR TOWING, AT ALL SPEEDS, AND IN BOTH FORWARD AND REVERSE. THIS STEERING PROBLEM IS EXTREMELY UNPREDICTABLE, UNSAFE, AND VERY DANGEROUS. IT ALSO SEEMS TO BE COMMON PROBLEM WITH NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS AND REPORTS OF THIS ISSUE BEING REPORTED TO THE NHTSA, FORD, FORD DEALERS, AND DISCUSSED IN ONLINE FORUMS.
SITTING IN MY TRUCK WITH THE KEY TURNED OR EVEN ON IDLE, THE ELECTRONICS ON MY DASH(RADIO ALLUMINATION, TRIP BOX, ETC.) WILL BE FADED ON ONE SIDE OR WILL BE COMPLETELY FADED AND I CANT SEE THE TIME, STATION, GAS MILEAGE, ETC. FROM TIME TO TIME WHEN IT DOES THIS, MY CRUISE CONTROL FIGURE WONT SHOW BUT AFTER A WHILE(10-30 MINUTES) IT WILL POP UP ON THE CLUSTER. IT DOESNT MATTER IF ITS COLD OUT OR HOT OUT, IDLE,RUNNING OR IGNITION SWITCHED OFF, IT WILL BE FADED. ITS BECOMING MORE OF A COMMON THING(DAILY).
