VEHICLE IS A FORD F150 XLT 2008. VEHICLE WAS BOUGHT NEW FROM JACK MADDEN FORD IN NORWOOD MASSACHUSETTS. VEHICLE PURCHASED APPROXIMATELY IN APRIL OF 2008. PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE IS WHEN SLOWING DOWN AND COMING TO A STOP THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE ACCELERATES AND I HAVE HAD TO RELEASE FOOT BRAKE AND REAPPLY. OR I HAVE HAD TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL TO STOP VEHICLE. ONE TIME I WENT THROUGH A STOP SIGN BECAUSE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND LUNGED FORWARD. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER ABOUT 4 TO 5 TIMES AND THEY HAVE FOUND NOTHING. I HAVE CONTACTED THE ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICE HERE IN MASSACHSUETTS AND SHE HAS CONTACTED THE FORD REPRESENTATIVE BUT FORD COULD NOT SPEAK TO HER WITHOUT A LETTER BEING SENT TO THEM. AT PRESENT WE ARE AT A STANDSTILL . PROBLEM OCCURS OCCASIONALLY AND HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 8 TO 10 TIMES. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND I AM TRULY CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY AND THAT OF MY WIFE'S., NOT TO MENTION OTHER PEOPLE BEING INJURED EITHER WALKING IN A CROSSWALK OR IN ANOTHER VEHICLE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ACCELERATOR AND BRAKE PEDALS WERE EXTREMELY CLOSE TOGETHER AND ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, WOULD SIMULTANEOUSLY DEPRESS BOTH PEDALS. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE CONTACTED AND EXPRESSED TO THE CONTACT THAT THEY WOULD CALL HIM BACK AT A LATER DATE. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,400 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 13,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. UPDATED 8/29/11 *CN
2008 FORD F150 LARIAT TRUCK SPONTANEOUSLY CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE PARKED. SMOKE WAS SEEN COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD, THEN THE ENTIRE TRUCK WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. DESPITE THE FIRE DEPARTMENT'S EFFORTS, THE TRUCK BURNED TO THE GROUND. THIS TRUCK WAS UNDER A YEAR OLD, AND HAD NEVER NEEDED REPAIRS OF ANY KIND. *TR
MY 2008 FORD F150 WAS SITTING IN MY DRIVE WAY UNTIL I HAD TO LEAVE TO GO RUN ERRANDS. I GOT IN IT, TURNED THE KEY AND THERE WAS FIRE COMING OUT OF THE EXHAUST PIPE. I THINK IT STARED IN THE ENGINE BECAUSE OF HOW HOT IT WAS MINUTES AFTER I TURNED THE KEY. PLEASE LET PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT THIS. I DO NOT WANT TO SEE PEOPLE BEING HARMED BY THIS. IM POSITIVE THAT IF I HADN'T TURNED IT OFF AS QUICKLY AS I DID THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE CAUGHT FIRE AND THE TRUCK WOULD HAVE BEEN RUINED, THROWING AWAY ALL THE MONEY THAT I BOUGHT IT FOR. SMELLED ODOR OF GASOLINE WHILE DRIVING. DROVE APPROXIMATELY 3 MILES AND WHEN EXITED VEHICLE, STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE. WALKED TO REAR OF VEHICLE AND SAW A TRAIL OF GASOLINE SPLATTERS BEHIND 2008 FORD F150. LOOKED UNDER VEHICLE AND SAW A POOL OF GASOLINE WITH GASOLINE DRIPPING FROM ALL AROUND FUEL TANK AND SURROUNDING AREA. IMMEDIATELY GOT ASSISTANCE AND DETERMINED THAT GASOLINE WAS COMING FROM AREA AT TOP OF FUEL TANK-AREA OF FUEL PUMP (BY TURNING KEY ON A 1-2 SECONDS WHILE ASSISTANT WATCHED UNDER PICKUP). WE REMOVED THE FUSE TO FUEL PUMP RELAY AND TOWED VEHICLE (100 FT) TO AREA WHERE WE COULD WASH GASOLINE OFF WITH WATER HOSE AND PUSHED VEHICLE INTO SHOP AND REMOVED PICKUP BED TO GET A VISUAL AT LEAK AREA. VENT HOSE TO FILLER CAP WAS BROKEN AT TOP OF TANK (THIS IS NOT A HOSE THAT NORMALLY HAS GASOLINE OR PRESSURE. REINSTALLED FUSE AND RAPIDLY TURNED KEY ON AND OFF WITH 2 PERSONS WATCHING. A HUGE AMOUNT OF GASOLINE WAS SPRAYED OUT WHEN THE PUMP WAS ENERGIZED. WHEN ASSISTANT TOUCHED THE HOSE AT SOURCE OF LEAKAGE TO PULL HOSE OFF, THE PLASTIC CONNECTION ON THE PUMP BROKE OFF (NO FORCE WAS APPLIED). CALLED FORD DEALER AND WERE INFORMED IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY--INFORMED THEM OF OBSERVATIONS AND ACTION WE TOOK. WHEN FORD GOT THE VEHICLE THEY BASICALLY SAID THIS WAS AN OWNER ABUSE AND WAS NOT A DEFECT. VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN SUBJECT TO ANY ROUGH TREATMENT. IF I HAD DRIVEN THIS VEHICLE ENOUGH TO GET EXHAUST HOT OR HAD ANY SOURCE OF IGNITION THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE BASICALLY EXPLODED AND BURNED, IT PROBABLY LOST 5-6 GALLON OF GAS IN 3 MILES(5 MINUTES). THERE WAS A SPLIT IN PLASTIC CONNECTION THAT BROKE OFF AND APPEARANCE OF OTHER CRACKS IN AREA. IN MOST CASES THE FIRST EVIDENCE OF A PROBLEM WOULD BE WHEN THE VEHICLE IGNITED. ENOUGH GASOLINE DRIPPED OFF TANK AREA ON ASPHALT TO MAR AREA. FORD DEALER HAS VEHICLE AND PARTS, INDICATED IT WOULD BE 4-10 DAYS TO GET REPLACEMENT PARTS. THIS HAS SERIOUS FIRE POTENTIAL AND I HAVE NO EXPLANATION FOR BREAK EXCEPT DEFECTIVE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE RPMS INCREASED EXCESSIVELY TO 5,000 AS THE VEHICLE SURGED ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES TO STOP THE SURGING FAILURE. THE FAILURE ALSO RECURRED WHILE THE CONTACT WAS SITTING AT A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC PERFORMED BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO GENERATE A FAILURE CODE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 7,760.
2008 FORD F150, RIGHT FRONT TIRE AND RIM CAME OFF DAMAGING THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL WELL AND CAUSED THE UNDERCARRIAGE TO STRIKE THE GROUND. *BF ACCORDING TO THE POLICE REPORT, THE STUDS WERE MISSING. THE ROTOR WAS GROUND DOWN IN SEVERAL AREAS WITH IT STRIKING THE ASPHALT SURFACE. THE INSIDE OF THE RIM OF THE TIRE HAD SEVERAL GOUGES IN IT FROM WHERE THE ROTOR WAS RIDING ON IT PRIOR TO IT DROPPING DOWN ON THE ASPHALT. OHIO TRAFFIC CRASH REPORT 10-0711-90
2008 BRAND NEW F150 TRUCK - 5,000 MILES AND THE STARTER WOULDN'T ENGAGE THE FLYWHEEL.. STARTER GEAR SHAFT SHEARED COMPLETELY THROUGH. THE MECHANICS AT VISTA FORD/WOODLAND HILLS WERE BAFFLED BY THIS. THE STARTER GEAR SHAFT SHEARED COMPLETELY THROUGH AND THE ENGINE WAS NOT SEIZED SO THERE IS NO REASON FOR THAT TO HAPPEN. THIS WAS NOT THE CASE AS THE MECHANICS CHECKED THE TEETH IN THE FLYWHEEL AND TURNED IT BY HAND THEY WERE ABLE TO INSPECT THE FLYWHEEL AND FOUND EVERY TOOTH TO BE PERFECTLY IN TACT AND THE TEETH ON THE STARTER GEAR ITSELF WERE ALSO PERFECTLY IN TACT. THE ONLY DAMAGE WAS TO THE STARTING GEAR SHAFT BUT NOW I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR SAFETY AND WHAT CAUSED IT? *TR
I DROVE MY NEW 2008 FORD F-150 (4177 MILES) TO MY SON'S HOUSE, WHEN I GOT INTO THE TRUCK TO LEAVE I STARTED THE ENGINE AND SUDDENLY REALIZED I HAD A RUNAWAY ENGINE, THE SEQUENCE IN WHICH IT HAPPENED: I SAT DOWN IN THE DRIVERS SEAT, PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION, PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, TURNED THE KEY TO THE START POSITION THEN THE MOMENT THE ENGINE STARTED THE MOTOR RAN AWAY. LUCKILY I HAD KEPT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND HAD THE PRESCIENCE OF MIND TO GO FROM REVERSE TO NEUTRAL AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF. THE RESTART WAS ABOUT THE SAME, THE NEXT START IT TURNED OVER OK. I THINK THIS MAY HAVE HAPPENED A FEW WEEKS AGO BUT BY THE TIME I SHIFTED INTO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING NORMAL . NOT ONLY WAS IT EXTREMELY FRIGHTENING TO ME IT ALSO COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A FATAL SITUATION. STATIONARY SKID MARKS WERE LEFT ON THE PAVEMENT FROM THE REAR TIRES. *TR
OWNER OF 2008 FORD F-150 EXPERIENCED SPONTANEOUS ACCELERATION OF VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 4800 MILES AND THEN REPEATED 3 TIMES IN ONE DAY AT APPROXIMATELY 5700 MILES. IT HAPPENED TWICE WHILE IN DRIVE AND TWICE WHILE IN REVERSE. EVEN WHILE HOLDING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR, THE TRUCK CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE TO FULL THROTTLE EACH TIME. WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY, MY HUSBAND FORCED THE TRUCK INTO NEUTRAL AND THEN PARK, AT WHICH TIME THE ENGINE RETURNED TO A NORMAL RPM. HE TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND THEN BACK ON. WE TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP. OUR TRUCK WAS LEFT AT THE DEALER OVERNIGHT FOR A CHECK OVER. THE SERVICE AGENT STATED THAT THE COMPUTER DID NOT RECORD ANY ISSUES AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE OUR CONCERN. THE SERVICE AGENT STATED THAT THERE WAS "NOTHING" ON FORD'S SITE ABOUT OUR PROBLEMS WITH THE F-150'S SUDDENLY ACCELERATING AND THEY COULD NOT FIX WHAT WASN'T "BROKEN." IF THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, NOTHING IS! ESPECIALLY SINCE SO MANY TRUCKS ARE USED FOR HAULING HEAVY LOADS. THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE OF WHERE THE GAS AND BRAKE PEDALS ARE LOCATED. AFTER THIS HAPPENS ONCE, YOU KNOW WHERE THE BRAKE PEDAL IS!!! IT IS OBVIOUS THAT FORD IS NOT GOING TO OWN UP TO THIS "CONCERN" UNTIL ENOUGH INJURIES OR DEATHS ARE REPORTED. *TR
I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE NEW IN 2008. I DISCOVERED WHAT SEEMS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW WITH THE BRAKE & GAS PEDALS. THEY ARE SPACED TOO CLOSE TOGETHER AND AT THE SAME LEVEL. WHEN PLACING MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL IT SOMETIMES IS POSITIONED ON THE RIGHT AND OVERLAPS THE GAS PEDAL AND CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE. THIS COULD POSSIBLY BE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, ESPECIALLY WHEN TOWING A HEAVY BOAT OR TRAVEL TRAILER. THIS PROBLEM GETS WORSE AS THE BRAKES WEAR AND THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS TO TRAVEL FURTHER DOWNWARD TOWARDS THE FLOOR. IN OTHER WORDS, THE GAS PEDAL IS ALSO FORCED FURTHER DOWNWARD. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION. I CONTACTED FORD (CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT) ABOUT THIS AND THEY ADVISED ME TO CONTACT MY DEALER, WHICH I DID. THE DEALER SAID THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT COULD DO NOTHING AS FORD HAS NOT CONTACTED THEM WITH A FIX. I SEE ON YOUR WEB-SITE THAT THIS SITUATION HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO YOUR ATTENTION BY OTHER F-150 OWNERS.
THIS SEEMS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW SAFETY PROBLEM. ON MY 2008 FORD F-150 PICK-UP TRUCK, THE BRAKE PEDAL IS MOUNTED TOO CLOSE TO THE GAS PEDAL. IF, DURING A "PANIC STOP" MY FOOT IS NOT PLACED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BRAKE PEDAL, IT TENDS TO OVER LAP THE GAS PEDAL AND WHEN TRYING TO BRAKE, WILL ACTUALLY ACCELERATE THE TRUCK. THIS PROBLEM GETS WORSE AS THE VEHICLE'S BRAKES WEAR AND THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSES EVEN FURTHER. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD AND THEY ADVISED ME TO CONTACT MY DEALER, WHICH I DID. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM BUT CAN DO NOTHING TO FIX IT SINCE FORD HAS NOT GIVEN THEM A FIX. THIS COULD E A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM, ESPECIALLY WHEN TOWING A HEAVY LOAD SUCH AS A TRAVEL TRAILER OR LARGE BOAT. I HAVE SEEN THIS PROBLEM ADDRESSED ON THIS SITE AND ALSO OTHER FORD TRUCK BLOG SITES.
I HAVE A SAFETY CONCERN WITH MY 2008 F-150 FORD SUPERCREW. THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS SO MUCH TRAVEL THAT IT GOES PAST THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IN A SUDDEN PANIC TYPE STOP. AS THE FOOT PRESSES THE BRAKE PEDAL DOWN, THE FOOT AND PEDAL PASSES THE GAS PEDAL AND SOMETIMES, IF YOUR FOOT IS NOT POSITIONED PERFECTLY IT CAUSES THE GAS PEDAL TO BE PRESSED DOWN WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL. THUS THE VEHICLE IS TRYING TO ACCELERATE WHILE THE DRIVER IS TRYING TO STOP IT. THIS CAUSES INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCES AND WILL LEAD TO ACCIDENTS. IT HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TWO ALREADY. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY BUT MY COMPLAINT APPARENTLY WASN'T WELL UNDERSTOOD. *TR
THIS FORD F 150 PICKUP TRUCK HAS THE WIDEST GAS (ACCELERATOR) PEDAL I HAVE EVER SEEN AND AS A RESULT, MY RIGHT FOOT CONTINUES TO PRESS DOWN ON IT EVEN AFTER I HAVE STARTED APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH THE SAME FOOT. I HAVE NEARLY COLLIDED WITH MY WORKING PARTNER AND A BOAT TRAILER THREE TIMES IN THE PAST MONTH AS WE WERE TRYING TO HOOK UP THE TRAILER TO THE TRUCK. AS I BACKED UP, AND MOVED MY FOOT FROM THE GAS PEDAL OVER TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE RIGHT EDGE OF MY FOOT WAS STILL PRESSING DOWN ON THE GAS PEDAL WHILE THE LEFT PART OF MY FOOT WAS PRESSING DOWN ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. SO BOTH PEDALS WERE BEING PRESSED DOWN AT THE SAME TIME, BUT THE GAS PEDAL DOMINATED AND INSTEAD OF SLOWING DOWN, THE TRUCK ACCELERATED IN REVERSE. TO AVOID THIS SITUATION, I HAVE TO CONSCIOUSLY MOVE MY FOOT OVER ONTO THE MIDDLE OR LEFT SIDE OF THE BRAKE PEDAL, WHICH IS SOMETHING I HAVE NEVER HAD TO DO BEFORE WITH ANY VEHICLE I HAVE DRIVEN, AND I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 43 YEARS. I HAVE DRIVEN MANY FORD PICKUP TRUCKS, F-150, F-250, AND F-350, AND THE OLD F-100 AS WELL, PLUS DODGE AND CHEVROLET AND NISSAN AND TOYOTA PICKUP TRUCKS, FULL SIZE AND MID-SIZE AND MINI PICKUPS. I HAVE NEVER ENCOUNTERED THIS PROBLEM BEFORE IN MY ENTIRE LIFE, AND MY CO-WORKER HAS NOT EITHER. WE FEEL THAT THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. THIS SITUATION ONLY OCCURS WHEN BACKING UP TO HITCH UP A BOAT TRAILER, NOT WHEN COMING TO A NORMAL TRAFFIC STOP, SO THE DIFFERENCE LIES IN THE FACT THAT MY FOOT IS MOVING FASTER FROM GAS PEDAL TO BRAKE PEDAL WHEN BACKING UP TO HOOK UP A TRAILER, THAN IT IS WHEN MAKING A NORMAL STOP IN TRAFFIC. BUT I HAVE BACKED UP MANY OTHER PICKUP TRUCKS IN THE PAST TO HOOK UP BOAT TRAILERS AND NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. WE MEASURED THE FORD F-150'S GAS PEDAL WIDTH AND COMPARED IT WITH OTHER PICKUP GAS PEDAL WIDTHS AND THE FORD'S WAS WIDER THAN THE OTHERS. *TR
I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH ROTORS SINCE I BOUGHT TRUCK IN 09', A MONTH OR 2 AFTER I BOUGHT IT I HAD ROTORS CHANGED AND THEN EVERY 3 TO 4 MONTHS AFTER THAT. MY FRONT WHEELS ARE BLACK AFTER 2 WEEKS OF DRIVING. I HAVE NEVER PULLED A TRAILER WITH THIS TRUCK AND THIS TRUCK HAS BEEN USED LIGHTLY. ALSO AFTER 12 YEARS OLD, MECHANIC TOLD ME YESTERDAY I HAVE A YEAR OR 2 BEFORE MY FRAME IS GOING COMPLETELY RUSTED THRU AND BE DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. *TR

WHENEVER THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, HE ALSO UNINTENTIONALLY DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ADDRESSING THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
MY 2008 FORD F-150 IS A PIECE OF?!@#$%. AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR WAS REPLACED AT 24,000 MI AND TODAY IT'S MAKING THE SAME NOISE (SQUEALING WHEN COMPRESSOR KICKS IN) AT 27000 MILES. STARTER MADE A ZIP NOISE PREVIOUSLY WHEN IT WAS COLD AND HAD TO BE REPLACED BEFORE THIS LAST FAILURE OF THE AIR CONDITIONER. THEY HAD TO TAKE THE DASH OUT TO REPLACE THE AIR CONDITIONER PARTS AND NOW IT'S MAKING THE HEATER NOISE AGAIN AND FORD KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AS WE'VE SEEN ON THIS VERY WEBSITE, BUT NO RECALL. THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE GAS PEDAL ARE TOO CLOSE TOGETHER BECAUSE IT CAUSES ME TO ACCIDENTALLY HIT THE ACCELERATOR WHEN BRAKING. THE F-150 EMBLEM CAME UNGLUED ON THE TAILGATE. *TR
I OWN A 2008 FORD F-150. LAST SATURDAY I ENTERED THE VEHICLE, STARTED THE ENGINE AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE. THE ENGINE IMEDIATELY INCREASED IN RPM TO THE POINT WHERE THE REAR TIRES BEGAN SPINNING ON THE GRAVEL. I PUT THE TRANSMISSION IN NEUTRAL AND THE ENGINE RPM INCREASED. I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE AND THE ENGINE CONTINUED AT A VERY HIGH RPM. I THEN DEPRESSED AND RELEASED THE ACCELERATOR AND THE ENGINE RETURNED TO A NORMAL IDLE. I HAVE READ OTHER COMPLAINTS ABPOUT THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM AND I DO NOT BELIEVE I WAS PRESSING ON BOTH THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL AT THE SAME TIME. I ALSO DIDN'T SEE ANY ADVANTAGE TO TAKING MY VEHICLE TO MY DEALR SINCE NO ONE ELSE HAS BEEN ABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM. *TR
I HAVE A F-150 XLT TRITON FORD TRUCK. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS ISSUES FROM : SEATBELTS NOT WORKING, ENGINE LIGHT, SOLENOID, 4WD LINKAGE, SHAKING AND BRAKES NOT WORKING, TO NOT ENGAGING INTO PARK OR DRIVE...I AM SO FRUSTRATED AND FORD WON'T DO ANYTHING. *TR

THE ACCELERATOR AND BRAKE ARE SO CLOSE TOGETHER ON MY 2008 FORD F150 THAT I HAVE ON OCCASION ACCIDENTALLY PRESSED BOTH THE ACCELERATOR AND BRAKE PEDALS AT THE SAME TIME WHILE BRAKING. PURCHASED NEW FORD 150 SUPERCAB 2X4. ON 8/6/08. AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. DROVE ABOUT 60 MILES ON FREEWAY. AFTER ARRIVING AT DESTINATION, STOPPED AT STORE. WHEN RESTARTED, WHEN PREPARING TO ENTER ROAD, THE ENGINE ACCELERATED TO ABOUT 4,000 RPMS WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN AT IDLE. BRAKES WOULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. HAD TO QUICKLY PUT TRANSMISSION INTO NEUTRAL TO AVOID TRUCK MOVING INTO THE ROAD AND HITTING OTHER VEHICLES. THIS RECURRED 4 OR FIVE TIMES WHEN STOPPING AT STOP LIGHT, STOP SIGN AND STOPPING AT MOTEL. THE NEXT MORNING THIS RECURRED WHEN STOPPING AT MOTEL OFFICE. DID NOT REOCCUR. TOOK TRUCK INTO DEALER AND THEY ARE INSPECTING FOR PROBLEMS. *TR
I HAVE A 2008 F150 PICKUP WITH 348 MILES. THIS HAS HAPPENED 3 TIMES ALREADY. I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE TO SHIFT FROM PARK TO EITHER REVERSE OR DRIVE AND THE ENGINE REVS AND THE CAR LURCHES. ALL TIMES, I'VE BEEN ABLE TO PUT QUICKLY INTO PARK THEN TURN OFF THE ENGINE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. WHEN THE CAR IS RESTARTED, THE ENGINE IS RUNNING NORMALLY. ONE OF THE THREE TIMES, IT HAPPENED WITH MY HUSBAND DRIVING. I CAN'T BE SURE I BELIEVE IT'S BECAUSE THE BRAKE PEDAL AND GAS PEDAL ARE CLOSE ENOUGH TOGETHER THAT MY FOOT TOUCHES THE GAS WHEN BRAKING. THE FIRST TIME I HAD SHOES ON AND DON'T KNOW. THE SECOND TIME WAS WITH BARE FEET AND I FELT THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY FOOT TOUCH THE GAS. MY HUSBAND CAN'T COMMENT ON THE THIRD TIME. I MEASURED AND MY HONDA CIVIC BRAKE/GAS DISTANCE IS 2.75". THE TRUCK DISTANCE IS 2 3/8". I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TWICE AND THEY CLAIM THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I KNOW I'M GOING TO RUN SOMEBODY OVER OR GET IN AN ACCIDENT SOME DAY AND THIS WILL BE TO BLAME. I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE THE TRUCK. I'VE HAD IT OVER A MONTH AND AM STILL ON THE FIRST TANK OF GAS. I'M REALLY GLAD I KEPT MY HONDA CIVIC.
BOUGHT A 2008 F-150 AND THE A/C DOES NOT COOL PROPERLY. CHECKED IT AGAINST A 2005 F-150 THAT I OWN AND NEW TRUCK A/C IS 8 DEGREES WARMER. TOOK NEW TRUCK BACK TO DEALER, GOT A LOANER 2008 AND CHECKED IT'S A/C. IT COOLS LIKE THE 2005. DEALER SAID NOTHING WRONG WITH A/C. IT HAS BEEN BACK TO DEALER TWICE NOW AND NOW IS COOLING 15 DEGREES WARMER THAN ORIGINALLY. DEALER WILL NOT HELP. CONTACTED CUSTOMER RELATIONS IN DEABORN,MI AND THEY ENDED UP TALKING TO MY DEALER AND SAID SAME THING ..NOTHING THEY CAN DO. I LIVE IN TEXAS AND IT GETS HOT HERE. THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE IN COOLING SOMETHING FROM SAY 95 DEGREES TO 115 DEGREES. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH A/C AND FORD DEALERSHIP WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE IT OR FIX IT. *TR
THE PROBLEM BEGAN WHEN I TOOK MY TRUCK INTO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON JULY 28, 2008 FOR A RADIO PROBLEM. THE MILEAGE ON THE TRUCK WAS 27,371 AT THAT TIME I TOOK THE SERVICE ADVISORS RECOMMENDATION AND HAD A 30,000 MILE SERVICE PERFORMED. SINCE THAT TIME MY TRUCK HAS HAD A GASOLINE ODOR. THIS FUEL ODOR ORIGINATES IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND COMES INTO THE CAB THROUGH THE A/C VENTS. THIS GAS ODOR HAS BEEN ACKNOWLEDGED BY A SERVICE TECHNICIAN, THE SERVICE ADVISOR AND THE SERVICE MANAGER. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN 4 TIMES (8/12/08, 8/15/08, 9/2/08, AND 9/11/08) DURING THESE REPAIR ATTEMPTS I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT THE VEHICLE FOR WELL OVER 30 DAYS. THIS PROBLEM CREATES A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD; I AM CONCERNED THAT THE FUEL VAPORS WILL CAUSE A FIRE AND EXPLOSION. *TR
