AT IDLE THE ENGINE KNOCKS LOUDLY VEHICLE STALLS ENGINE FAILS. NOT ABLE TO DRIVE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY FORD TECHS AND DEALERSHIP TO REPLACE ENGINE. *TR
STOP AT GAS STATION AND TURNED TRUCK OFF AND ENTERED STORE. RETURNED TO TRUCK AND CRANKED. PUT IN DRIVE DROVE AROUND STATION TO ENTRANCE OF MAIN HIGHWAY. ABOUT 20 YARDS TO STOP SIGN TO HIGHWAY I WAS GOING ABOUT 5 MPH AND I LIFTED RIGHT FOOT OFF OF GAS PEDAL TO APPLY BRAKE. THE TRUCK SLOWLY STARTED TO SPEED UP. I APPLIED THE BRAKE WITH ONE FOOT AND THE TRUCK STARTED TO APPLY MORE GAS UNTIL I HAD BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE AND PUSHING AS HARD AS POSSIBLE AND IT WAS PUSHING ME TOWARD THE HIGHWAY IN FRONT OF A ONCOMING CAR. THE BACK TIRES STARTED TO SPIN. I PUT THE TRUCK IN NEUTRAL THE ENGINE REVVED TO AROUND 6-1/2 RPM BEFORE I COULD TURN THE SWITCH OFF. I SIT THERE FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS WITH ENGINE OFF THEN RESTARTED THE TRUCK AND IT WAS OK.. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT ON 7/18/2011 WITH A FORD DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE TRUCK LOOKED AT. I HAVE LOOKED OVER YOUR WEB SITE AND THERE HAS BEEN MANY OTHER F 150 TRUCKS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM IT SEEMS AS MINE. I THINK YOU NEED TO THINK ABOUT TALKING TO FORD MOTOR COMPANY ABOUT A POSSIBLE RECALL. I HAVE A 17 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER THAT SOMETIMES DRIVES MY TRUCK AND THAT WAS THE FIRST THING THAT I THOUGHT OF. WHAT IF SHE HAD BEEN DRIVING WHEN THIS HAPPENED, WOULD SHE HAVE REACTED AS FAST AS I DID BEFORE BEING PUSHED OUT IN FRONT OF THE ONCOMING CAR.. JUST SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT.. *KB
I JUST BOUGHT A USED 2008 FORD F150....HAD IT ONE WEEK AND NOW THE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF EVERY DAY. TOOK IT TO FIVE START FORD AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM. I CANNOT AFFORD TO PAY TO HAVE THIS FIXED SO WILL JUST HAVE TO DRIVE IT LIKE IT IS AND TAKE MY CHANCES. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD SMOKE WHEN THE IGNITION WAS STARTED. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A COMPUTER DEFECT, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO BLOW BLACK SMOKE OUT OF THE EXHAUST PIPE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 28,000.
THIS WEEKEND WE HEARD A LOUD POP UNDER THE HOOD FOLLOWED BY A LOUD TICKING SOUND WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. WE PULLED OVER AND WAITED FOR A TOW TRUCK TO TAKE OUR CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS EXAMINED TODAY. WE LEARNED THAT THIS COMMON ISSUE IN FORD F150 TRUCKS WILL COST APPROXIMATELY $1000 (LOW END) TO $3500 (HIGH END) TO FIX. A SPARK PLUG SIMPLY "POPPED OUT", TEARING UP THE THREADS IN THE CYLINDER, CAUSING THE DEALER TO RECOMMEND CYLINDER HEAD REPLACEMENT. THERE IS SOMETHING ELSE THAT CAN BE A LESS EXPENSIVE FIX TO THE PROBLEM, BUT FORD DOES NOT GUARANTEE THAT FIX. MY VEHICLE IS 3 YEARS OLD AND HAS 70K MILES ON IT. WE ARE VERY METICULOUS ABOUT THE MAINTENANCE ON OUR VEHICLE AND AS THE DEALERSHIP EXPLAINED, THIS IS A DEFECT IN THIS ENGINE DESIGN AND NOT SOMETHING THAT WE COULD HAVE DONE TO PREVENT THE PROBLEM. THEY RECOMMEND A TUNE UP TO REPLACE ALL SPARK PLUGS BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. MY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND I DO NOT HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. AFTER DRIVING MY LAST FORD F150 FOR 200K MILES WITH NO ISSUES, I HAVE A DIFFICULT TIME PAYING $4,000 WHEN IT IS ALL SAID AND DONE ON A VEHICLE THAT I AM STILL MAKING PAYMENTS ON THAT IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD. *TT
GAS GAUGE IN 2008 FORD F 150 FAILS TO READ CORRECTLY. I FILL UP AND IT DOESN'T SHOW THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF GAS IN THE TRUCK. I RECENTLY FOUND OUT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE TRUCKS. WHY ISN'T THE COMPANY DOING ANYTHING TO HELP FIX THE PROBLEM. I AM SURE THIS IS NOT A CHEAP FIX. HOW CAN YOU SEND YOUR CHILDREN OUT IN THIS VEHICLE NOING THEY COULD EITHER RUN OUT OF GAS ANYWHERE OR STALL OUT ON THE HIGHWAY AND BE HIT FROM BEHIND BY SOMEONE GOING 65 MPH. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE PASSENGER ENTERED THE VEHICLE AND TURNED THE DOOR HANDLE IT BROKE; AS A RESULT THE PASSENGER FELL BACKWARDS HIT HER HEAD ON THE PAVEMENT, SUFFERED A CONCUSSION AND INJURED HER BACK. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED HIM TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INSPECTED IT AND STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT GOING TO OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47,348.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F150 SUPER CAB. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VINYL STEERING COVER WAS DEFECTIVE AND SEPARATED FROM THE STEERING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT WOULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,612 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 37,171.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F150 EXTENDED TRUCK. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SEAT BELT WAS MOUNTED ABNORMALLY HIGH. WHENEVER THE SEAT BELT WAS SECURED, THE STRAPS WOULD SECURE AROUND HIS ADAMS APPLE AND HE WAS SIX FEET TALL. THERE WAS NO ADJUSTMENT TO LOWER THE SEAT BELT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THERE WERE NO REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE.THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000.
I WAS TRAVELING LESS THAN 10 MPH WHILE DRIVING IN THE PARKING DECK AT WORK WHEN MY 2008 F150 FORD TRUCK SUDDENLY ACCELERATED !! I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKES AND THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP!! JUST AS I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF PUTTING THE TRUCK OUT OF GEAR - IT RAN INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. LUCKILY IT DID NOT DAMAGE THE OTHER VEHICLE ( WHICH WAS A BIG SUV ) BUT IT DID $2,000.00 WORTH OF DAMAGE TO MY TRUCK!! I TOOK THE TRUCK INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR. THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT GET IT TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I CONTACTED FORD'S COMPLAINT AND CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENTS.THEY DENIED MY REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE IN THIS MATTER AS THEY CLAIM THEIR ANALYSIS DOES NOT INDICATE ANY EVIDENCE OF A MANUFACTURING OR DESIGN DEFECT. I WENT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED MY TRUCK TO TRY TO TRADE IN MY TRUCK FOR ANOTHER VEHICLE. DESPITE THE FACT THAT I HAVE BOUGHT 7 FORD TRUCKS IN THE PAST - 6 OF THEM AT THIS PARTICULAR DEALERSHIP , THEY WERE NOT WILLING TO WORK WITH ME ON A DEAL FOR TRADING IN MY TRUCK. THEY TOLD ME THAT I HAD GOTTEN 47,000 MILES OUT OF MY TRUCK BEFORE THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED , AND THAT I COULD PROBABLY GET ANOTHER 47,000 MILES OUT OF IT BEFORE IT DOES IT AGAIN!!! THEN 28 DAYS AFTER THE FIRST OCCURRENCE - MY TRUCK DID IT AGAIN!!!! THIS TIME I WAS IN TRAFFIC IN THE PROCESS OF STOPPING MY TRUCK FOR A TRAFFIC LIGHT. I HAD JUST TAKEN MY FOOT OFF OF THE BRAKES ( MY FOOT WAS STILL RESTING ON TOP OF THE BRAKES ) AND I WAS COASTING TO A STOP. SUDDENLY THE TRUCK JUST SPEEDED UP OUT OF CONTROL !!! I APPLIED THE BRAKES , AND AGAIN THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP!!!! I QUICKLY THREW THE GEAR IN NEUTRAL AND TURNED OFF THE KEY. AS SOON AS I DID THIS, THE BRAKES SKIDDED ON AND MY TRUCK JUST BARELY STOPPED BEFORE HITTING THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME!! I AM IN CONSTANT FEAR OF THIS OCCURRING AGAIN!!! BOTH TIMES I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AT A VERY SLOW SPEED ( LESS THAN 10 MPH ) BUT WHAT IF IT HAPPENS WHEN I'M ON THE FREEWAY TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEEDS. THIS IS LIFE THREATENING. *TR
ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 2, 2011 THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL ON MY 2008 FORD F150 TRUCK BLEW APART WHILE BACKING UP ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET IN NASHUA, NH. THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE AND THE TRUCK SLAMMED TO A STOP. THE TRUCK WAS TOWED TO BEST FORD ON AMHERST ST., NASHUA, NH. APPARENTLY A ROD BROKE IN HALF AND RICOCHETED IN THE HOUSING DAMAGING THE GEAR SHAFT AND SLICING A GASH IN THE DIFFERENTIAL CAP. I WAS ON A QUIET STREET WITH LITTLE TRAFFIC. HAD THIS OCCURRED ON A BUSY STREET OR HIGHWAY, IT WOULD HAVE MOST LIKELY RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE TAKEN PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE DAMAGED PARTS IF THEY ARE NEEDED. *TR
IN FEB 2011, I CALLED FOR ABOUT MY 2008 FORD F-150 REGARDING THE AIRBAG LIGHT GOING ON AND OFF AND FORD WILL DO NOTHING ABOUT IT. I JUST READ THAT 1.2 MIL F-150'S WERE BEING RECALLED FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THEY SAID MY VIN DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR RECALL. VIN # [XXX]. ON MY WIFE'S 2008 F150 QUAD CAB TRUCK AT 37000 MILES, I NOTICE THAT THE TIRES ON THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK WHERE WEARING ON THE INSIDE, SO WITH A TRIP PLANNED FOR FLORIDA, I SET UP FOR OUR LOCAL DEALER TO DO AN ALIGNMENT. SHE DROP OFF HER TRUCK AT THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WENT ON HER WAY, WITHIN 30 MINUTES SHE GOT A CALL FROM THE SERVICE MANAGER. HE INFORMED HER THAT THE UPPER BALL JOINTS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER SAID THAT SINCE THE TRUCKS WARRANTY (THE TRUCK HAS 38000 MILES ON IT) HAD RAN OUT THEY COULD NOT REPLACE THE LOOSE BALL JOINTS. BUT THEY PUT A NEW SET OF TIRES ON AND CHARGED US FOR AN ALIGNMENT. THIS TRUCK HAS NEVER BEEN OFF ROAD AND IT NEVER INDICATED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FRONT END AT ALL. I HAVE BEEN TO FLORIDA TWICE. AND I HAVE OWNED 19 DIFFERENT FORDS IN MY 55 YEARS, 12 OF THESE VEHICLES WERE PURCHASED NEW, THREE WERE 4X4 WITH LARGE TIRES AND MOST HAD OVER A 100,000 MILES, AND I HAVE NEVER HAD TO CHANGE A BALL JOINT OR ANY PART OF THE FRONT END STEERING PARTS. I AM NOT DOING A COMMERCIAL FOR FORD , I JUST WANT FORD TO REPAIR MY TRUCK, I AM IN THE SAME BOAT AS EVERYONE ELSE, NO MONEY!!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F150. THE CONTACT WAS SITTING IDLE AT A TRAFFIC STOP WITH THE BRAKES APPLIED WHEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WENT FROM 0 TO 100 MPH WHILE SHE WAS DEPRESSING THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 25,000.
DUE TO THE CLOSE PROXIMITY OF THE GAS AND BRAKE PEDAL AND THE LOW SINK WHEN PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL IT IS VERY EASY TO PRESS THE GAS PEDAL WHEN PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. I HAVE ASKED FORD TO LOOK INTO THIS MATTER AND THE POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE AND THEY WILL NOT. I FEEL THAT THIS MATTER DESERVES IMMEDIATE ATTENTION AND SHOULD BE REVIEWED BY OUTSIDE AGENCIES TO SEE IF THERE IS IN FACT THE NEED FOR A RECALL AND A REDESIGN. *LN
BOUGHT A 2008 FORD F150 FROM A SO CALLED REPUTIBLE DEALER. HAD ISSUES AFTER THE FIRST COUPLE OF MONTHS WITH A VIBRATION TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO DEALER RAN A DIAGNOSTICS CHECK ON IT, THEY SAID NOTHING IS WRONG. TWO YEARS LATER PROBLEM HAS ESCALATED WHERE TRUCK VIBRATES SO BAD THAT IT SPILLS A CAN OF SODA. FORD NOW SAYS NO WARRANTY LEFT ON VEHICLE AND WE HAVE TO PAY FOR FIXING. IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY TWO YEARS AGO WHEN PROBLEM ARISED. I AM VERY UNHAPPY WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD ITSELF. I AM THINKING ABOUT FILING A LAW SUIT AGAINST FORD IF THE PROBLEM IS NOT RECTIFIED. *TR
THE VEHICLE STARTED A VIBRATION AND LOUD BANGING NOISE. UNABLE TO DRIVE. LOOKING UNDER VEHICLE FOUND CENTER SUPPORT/CARRIER BEARING OUT OF PLACE AND LAYING IN BRACKET THAT ATTACHES IT TO FRAME. COULD NOT DRIVE OVER 5-10 MPH. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER GARAGE. COMPLETE DRIVE SHAFT(S) ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. OLD PARTS WERE RETAINED BY GARAGE. *TR
2008 F-150 RADIO AND INTERIOR LIGHTS RANDOMLY COME ON WHILE THE KEY IS OFF, OUT OF THE IGNITION, PARKED IN THE GARAGE, WITH THE DOORS CLOSED, THE WINDOWS CAN BE OPEN OR CLOSED. BEGAN RANDOMLY ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO (12-1-2010 @ 60K MILES). NO RE-OCCURRING PATTERN TO THE INCIDENCES. IF THE RADIO ON/OFF SWITCH IS OFF THE RADIO DOES NOT COME ON, BUT THE INTERIOR LIGHT WILL COME ON. LOCAL DEALER REPLACED SOME SORT OF "RADIO MODULE-$600.00" BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. HELP; CONCERNED ABOUT BATTERY LIFE AND OTHER POTENTIAL ELECTRONIC FAILURES. *TR
WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, IT MOVES LOWER THAN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. IF YOUR FOOT ISN'T SQUARELY ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, YOU CAN DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR ACCIDENTALLY, RESULTING IN SUDDEN ACCELERATION. PUSHING HARDER ON THE BRAKES ONLY MAKES THE VEHICLE GO FASTER. *TR
CABIN TEMPERATURE CANNOT BE REGULATED IN HEATING OR COOLING MODES. A CONSTANT TEMPERATURE CANNOT BE MAINTAINED. *TR

FRONT ROTORS NEEDED REPLACED AT 20000 MILES THEN AT 44000 MILES....IN ALL THE VEHICLES I OWN HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE????WARPED ROTORS COSTING OVER 600 TO REPLACE EVERY 20 TH MILES....DEFECTIVE!!!!! *TR
2008 FORD F150 PICK UP... TWICE WITHIN THE LAST 2 MONTHS MY TRUCK UNEXPECTEDLY ACCELERATED WHEN I WAS IDLING IN REVERSE AND MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. I NEARLY HIT AN EMPLOYEE OF MINE THE FIRST TIME AND YESTERDAY THE SPONTANEOUS ACCELERATION CAUSED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO MY MOTORHOME. THERE WERE BURN MARKS ON THE ASPHALT CAUSED BY ME PRESSING ON THE BRAKE SO HARD TRYING TO GET IT TO STOP. *TR
WHEN MY 08 F-250 DIESEL IS DRIVEN IN THE RAIN ON THE HIGHWAY AT A CONSTANT SPEED, THEN ACCELERATE TO PASS OR GO UP A GRADE IT HAS A HESITATION AND WHITE SMOKE OR STEAM. FORD REPLACED THE CAC WITH A NEW ONE THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH FORD THEY HOW EVER HAVE NO ANSWERS AS OF 15/FEB/2011 I FILED THE COMPLAINT BACK IN SEPTEMBER OF 2010. *TR
I WAS CHANGING THE OIL IN MY 2008 F150 60TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION TRUCK AND NOTICED THAT MY STEERING STOPS WERE WORN. I TURNED ON MY TRUCK TO SEE IF MY WHEELS, WHEN TURNED ALL THE WAY TO EITHER SIDE IF THEY WERE TOUCHING THE STEERING STOPS. AND THEY WERE! THE PROBLEM WITH THIS IS THE ALUMINUM STEERING BRACKET IS EVENTUALLY GOING TO CRACK IF THE RACKING PINION ISN'T ADJUSTED PROPERLY ON THE TRUCK. THIS IS A NEW TRUCK WITH ONLY 31,000 MILES 2WD, AND HAS NEVER BEEN OFF ROAD. *TR
MY 2008 FORD F150 BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSES TOO FAR AND ALLOWS THE DRIVER TO INADVERTENTLY HIT THE GAS PEDAL AND THE BRAKE PEDAL SIMULTANEOUSLY. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE EXAMINED BY THE DEALER AND HAVE NOTIFIED FORD MOTOR COMPANY OF THIS PROBLEM. THEY HAVE ADVISED ME THAT THE BRAKES ARE WORKING PROPERLY. MY SON ALSO HAS A FORD F150 AND HIS HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SERIOUS DESIGN DEFECT WITH THESE VEHICLES AND IN MY CASE HAS CONTRIBUTED TO ONE ACCIDENT AND SEVERAL NEAR MISSES. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-150. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED DURING RAINY WEATHER CONDITIONS WHEN A LARGE AMOUNT OF WATER ENTERED THE VEHICLE FROM THE REAR SLIDING POWER WINDOW. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE FAILURE WAS COMMON WITHIN HIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED EVERY TIME IT WOULD RAIN AND IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO WASH THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,940 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 25,032.
TL- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THE GAS PEDAL GETS STUCK ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT AND THE VEHICLE SUDDEN STARTED TO ACCELERATE. THE CONTACT HAD TO PRESS DOWN ON THE BRAKE AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL IN ORDER TO THE GET THE VEHICLE TO STOP. FOUR DAYS AFTER NEW HUB WAS INSTALLED THE TRUCK STARTED GRINDING THE HUB AGAIN. WENT IN FOR 5TH VISIT AND IS STILL IN THE SHOP WHILE THEY CONTINUE TO TEST DRIVE THE VEHICLE. I BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM TO BE DANGEROUS TO MYSELF AND OTHER DRIVERS BECAUSE THE NOISE IS SO LOUD THAT IT IS DISTRACTING TO THE DRIVER AND CAUSES OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD TO WAVE AND FLAG DOWN MY VEHICLE TO ALERT ME TO THE NOISE.
