DRIVING 4-LANE HIGHWAY, TRUCK SUDDENLY SHIFTS INTO LOW GEAR. STOPPED TRUCK, TRIED TO ACCELERATE BUT WOULD NOT GO. SUDDENLY WENT BACK INTO A LOW GEAR SO I WAS ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK OFF THE HIGHWAY. THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS BEHIND ME OR THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT. I CALLED MY LOCAL FORD DEALER, AND ALTHOUGH THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENING WITH OTHER FORD F-150 TRUCKS, MY VIN WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. SHOULD IT BE?
THE TRANSMISSION STARTED ACTING UP AND NOT SHIFTING CORRECTLY WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THE SERVICE LIGHTS ON THE DASH CAME ON AND THE TRUCK WENT INTO LIMP MODE. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER, AND THEY STATED IT WAS A FAULTY MOLDED LEAD FRAME. IT SEEMS THERE WAS ALREADY A RECALL INVOLVING THIS PART, AND FORD INITIATED CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 16N02. HOWEVER ALL PARTIES HAVE STATED THAT MY TRUCK IS NOT COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL, DESPITE IT BEING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE MOLDED LEAD FRAME. I'M HOPING THAT EVENTUALLY THIS RECALL IS EXPANDED AS THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE.
NO LEFT REAR BREAK LIGHT, NO LEFT REAR TURN LIGHT, ONLY FLASHES QUICKLY ON LEFT SIDE MIRROR AND LEFT FRONT TURN SIGNAL. HAD IT TESTED WITH 3 DIFFERENT MECHANICS, WHO ALL STATE MODULAR DEFECT. TWO DIFFERENT FORD DEALERS CLAIM NO ISSUE WITH VINN#, YET THERE ARE RECALLS FOR SAME ISSUE. PROBLEM IS BOTH STATIONARY AND MOVING. NEW BULBS SHORT OUT. UNABLE TO GET VEHICLE INSPECTED DUE TO ISSUE.
I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY TRANSMISSION. IT WILL SLIP FROM 1ST TO 5TH WHEN STARTING OUT. IT WOULD ONLY WORK IF I PUT IT IN MANUAL MODE. WHILE IN MANUAL MODEEVERYTHING ON MY DASH WENT BLANK AND QUIT WORKING. I HAD NOTHING TO GO BY NOT EVEN MY SPEEDOMETER. ALSO IT SLIPPED FROM 5TH TO 1ST WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY CAUSING IT TO LOCK UP AND MY WIFE HIT ME FROM BEHIND. I TOOK IT TO WORLD OF FORD IN PENSACOLA. THEY TOLD ME ABOUT 2 RECALLS. 16S19,16N02, NHTSA RECALL 16V248. MY TRUCK HAS BEEN THERE FOR OVER 10DAYS AND THEY SAID THERE IS NO TIMEFRAME ON WHEN IT WILL BE FIXED. I HAVE A PREGNANT WIFE AND A JOB AND NOW I'M OUT OF MY VEHICLES. THE MANAGER AT WORLD OF FORD FRANK TOLD ME TO DRIVE IT AWAY FROM HIS SHOP THAT THEY WEREN'T GOING TO FIX IT. I CAN'T DRIVE THE TRUCK BY IT'S DANGEROUS. I DO HAVE HIS CONVERSATION RECORDED BY HE WAS TELLING ME TO DRIVE THE TRUCK AWAY AFTER IT LOCKED UP ON ME. NOW I'M TRYING OTHER SOURCES TO SEE WHAT I NEED TO DO. ANYTHING WOULD HELP. I CAN'T AFFORD 40$ A DAY FOR A RENTAL. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD DOWNSHIFT INTO DIFFERENT GEARS. IN ADDITION, THE SPEEDOMETER DROPPED TO ZERO. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND POWERED OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,151.
IM HAVING ISSUES WITH THE POWER STEERING FEELS LIKE THE STEERING WHEELLOCKS UP THEN RELEASES. VERY DANGEROUS AROUND CORNERS.
WAS DRIVING TO TAKE MY SON BACK AND ALL OF SUDDEN LOST POWER STEERING AND A MESSAGE CAME ON SAID POWER STEERING ASIST FAULT AND I CANT DRIVE NOW JUST 80000 MILES CALLED FORD AND THE RACK AND PINION WENT OUT SUPPOSDLY WILL HAPPEN EVERY 75000 TO 80000 MILES IS ALL THAT ELECTRICAL STEERING IS GOOD FOR GONNA COST 1800 BUCKS WHICH DONT HAVE AND THINK ITS BS THERES NO RECALL ON THIS YEAR OF TRUCK HAVE IT ON OTHER MAKES MODELS BUT THIS ONE AND NOT UNDERSTANDING WHY ???

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN UNKNOWN SERVICE STATION WHERE THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR FAILED TO APPEAR. THE CONTACT CALLED PORTSMOUTH FORD LINCOLN AT 603-433-1221 IN REFERENCE TO THE WARNING INDICATOR NOT ILLUMINATING. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE INADVERTENTLY DOWNSHIFTED AND CAUSED THE REAR WHEELS TO LOCK. THE POWER TRAIN FAULT WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JIMMY MICHEL MOTORS (555 S ELLIOTT AVE, AURORA, MO 65605 (417) 678-5001) WHERE IT WAS AWAITING DIAGNOSIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE MANUFACTURER'S RECALL EXTENDED WARRANTY: 16N02. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 134,582.
I'M HAVING PROBLEM WITH THE OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR ON THE VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION. IT HAS CAUSE THE TRANSMISSION TO FORCE A TEMPORARY DOWNSHIFT INTO 1ST GEAR. AT THE TIME OF THE DOWNSHIFT, MY VEHICLE EXPERIENCED AN ABRUPT SPEED REDUCTION THAT CAUSE THE REAR TIRES TO SLIDE AND LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL. FORD HAS RECALLED SOME OF THE F150'S BUT HAS LEFT OTHERS LIKE MINE WITH THE SAME ISSUE OUT OF THE RECALL.
INTERMITTENT NO-START. ALL ELECTRICS WORK, BUT ENGINE WILL NOT ENGAGE/CRANK. "CANNOT DETECT INTEL-KEY" MESSAGE ON DASH BOARD READ-OUT.
AFTER STARTING VEHICLE AND SHIFTING INTO REVERSE, BRAKES ARE HARD TO PRESS, LEADING TO INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCE. HAS HAPPENED ONCE IN DRIVE, ONLY RIGHT AFTER STARTING VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION DROPPED FROM THE FIFTH TO THE FIRST GEAR. ALSO, THE SPEEDOMETER MOVED ERRATICALLY AND WAS UNABLE TO REGISTER THE EXACT SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A LOSS OF COMMUNICATION IN THE SPEED SENSORS. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED (PERFORMANCE FORD IN TOOELE, UT, 888-625-0136), BUT THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO EXPLAIN WHY THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 142,000.
VEHICLE WAS SUDDENLY AND ABRUPTLY SLOWING DOWN, SOMETIMES WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. I TOOK VEHICLE TO REPAIR SHOP, WAS TOLD THE TRANSMISSION OUTPUT SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, THE PART WAS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER DUE TO A RECALL. ACCORDING TO MY VIN, MY VEHICLE IS NOT AFFECTED BY RECALL, HOWEVER I HAVE THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL WITH THE SAME ISSUES. THE TRUCK HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEABLE FOR OVER 3 MONTHS AND I CANNOT GET IT FIXED.
TRANSMISSION - ENGINE SUDDENLY SHIFTS GEARS CAUSING VEHICLE TO SLOW DOWN ABRUPTLY WHILE IN MOTION, SOMETIMES WHILE TRAVELLING AT 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE SERVICE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE STARTED TO LOSE POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LED BRAIN SPEED SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE DEALER (SEBRING FORD IN SEBRING, FLORIDA) WAS CONTACTED BY PHONE, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
TAKATA RECALL: STEERING IS BINDING WHEN SLIGHTLY TURNING LEFT. IT GETS STUCK IN THAT POSITION AND HAS TO BE FORCEFULLY MOVED BACK TO CENTER.
RECEIVED POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT WARNING WHEN CAR WAS STARTED THIS MORNING. VEHICLE PERFORMED NORMALLY THE DAY AND NIGHT BEFORE. VEHICLE DISABLED THE POWER STEERING FUNCTION SO THAT ONLY MANUAL STEERING WAS AVAILABLE. THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM IS AN ELECTRIC SYSTEM.
WHILE DRIVING THE TRANSMISSION WOULD DOWN SHIFT FROM 5TH TO 1ST AND THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD STOP WORKING . AFTER DOING RESEARCH I FOUND FORD ISSUED THE FOLLOWING RECALL SAFETY RECALL 16S19 THE INTERMITTENT OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR (OSS) FAILURE MAY RESULT IN AN UNINTENDED DOWNSHIFT INTO FIRST GEAR. HOWEVER AFTER CONTACTING FORD THEY SAID MY TRUCK WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THAT RECALL. I BROUGHT MY TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY FIX THE EXACT PROBLEM THAT WAS ON THE RECALL.
WHEN TRYING TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE THE DASH LIGHT WILL NOT ILLUMINATE, WILL NOT SHIFT INTO REVERSE, AND MAINTENANCE WRENCH LIGHT COMES ON. I AM ABLE TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL, DRIVE, AND ANY OTHER GEAR WITH DASH ILLUMINATION AND OPERATE THE VEHICLE. REVERSE WILL NOT SHIFT AND AFTER MULTIPLE TRIES IT FINALLY TAKES AND "JOLTS" BACKWARDS WITHOUT WARNING AND ALLOWS ME TO BACKUP. HOWEVER DASH LIGHT NEVER CHANGES AND AM UNSURE WHEN IT WILL SHIFT. I AM TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT IT IS A MALFUNCTIONING "TRANSMISSION RANGE SENSOR". MY VEHICLE MATCHES THE MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR OF AN ACTIVE RECALL: #12V190000 HOWEVER I AM INFORMED BY THE LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP THAT MY VIN NUMBER DOES NOT MATCH THE RECALL LIST IN OASIS? AND THEREFORE IS NOT COVERED BY FORD. I HAVE HAD NO ISSUES WITH MY VEHICLE UP UNTIL THIS POINT AND CANNOT BELIEVE THAT FORD IS REFUSING TO COVER THIS OBVIOUS SAFETY HAZARD.
TUNED ON MY REAR DEFROSTER AND LIGHT DID NOT COME ON. I PRESSED IT A COUPLE MORE TIMES AND NOTHING. ABOUT 10 MINUTES LATER WHEN I WAS GETTING GAS IN MY LOCAL CITY IN ALABAMA, IT SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT WENT OFF. I LOOK AND THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR WINDOW PANEL HAS SHATTERED. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND FILE HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS DUE TO A FAULT REAR DEFROSTER. FORD IS WILLING TO DO NOTHING ABOUT IT, LEAVING CUSTOMERS WITH THE EXPENSIVE BILL. THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE.
WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THERE IS INTERMITTENT RESISTANCE WHEN TRYING TO TURN THE WHEEL ALSO, THE ADVANCE TRACK LIGHT COMES ON AND THAT LIMITS THE TURN SIGNAL AVAILABILITY. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MY MECHANIC THAT I HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE RACK AND PINION STEERING TO FIX THIS, AT $1800. THERE IS ONLY 84,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK. LOOKING ONLINE, FORD HAS RECALLED THOUSANDS OF OTHER MODELS DURING THIS TIME, BUT NOT THE F-150 - WHY NOT?? FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked and upon shifting into reverse (R), the vehicle failed to respond, and the gear shift indicator light failed to illuminate. The power train warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an unknown dealer, where grease was added to the transmission rim; however, the failure recurred while attempting to reverse two years later. The contact stated that he continuously moved the gear shifter between the gears until the vehicle responded as needed; however, the failure recurred. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring increasingly. The power train warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that he turned off and restarted the vehicle, and the vehicle would respond as needed after several attempts. The contact stated that he connected an OBD reader to the vehicle several times and DTC code 0705 was retrieved, indicating a transmission range sensor malfunction. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 12V190000 (Power Train, Exterior Lighting). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
MY VEHICLE NO LONGER WILL ASSIST WITH THE POWER STEERING. THE WHEEL FEELS LIKE IT'S STICKY AND WON'T RETURN TO CENTER. IF MAKING A TURN THE STEERING WHEEL JUST STAYS IN PLACE.
TAKATA RECALL - AFTER MAKING A 90DEGREE RIGHT TURN HAS A LOCKING FEEL HAVE TO PULL BACK CENTER LINE. NOTICING A DIFFICULTY GOING STRAIGHT FEELS AS IF IT WANTS TO STEER IN MANUAL MODE LIKE CARS DID WITHOUT POWER STEERING. ONLY HAVE 49400 MILES.
2011 FORD F-150 XLT SUPERCREW 4X2. I WAS OPERATING THE VEHICLE IN NORMAL CONDITIONS EARLIER THIS WEEK AND NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ACCELERATING AFTER PUSHING ON THE GAS PEDAL. I HAD NOTICED THIS VERY INTERMITTENTLY OVER THE PAST SEVERAL MONTHS, BUT THIS ISSUE WAS CONSTANT. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS, BUT WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE THE PU SEEMED TO BE OPERATING AT ABOUT 30-40% OF THE EXPECTED PERFORMANCE LEVEL. I TOOK INTO THE FORD SERVICE DEALER, NORTHSIDE FORD, AND THEY MENTIONED IT MIGHT BE THE PCM BUT THEY NEEDED TO START BY REPLACING THE O2 DOWNSTREAM SENSOR. THEY REPLACED THE O2 DOWNSTREAM SENSOR AND RE-TESTED AND IT THEM INDICATED THAT THE PCM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 112,500 MILES SO IT SEEMS ODD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL (12V190000) BUT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED AND IT SEEMS TO BE EXHIBITING SIMILAR PROBLEMS. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IF SOMEONE CAN LOOK INTO THE ISSUE AS I BELIEVE IT HAS A SIMILARITIES TO THE PREVIOUS RECALLS.
DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY NO WARNING JUST HEARD A POT AND I PULLED OVER NOTICED OIL COMING OUT. TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AND THE BLOCK HAD 2 HOLES BLOWN OUT OF IT. OIL AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE THE RODS JUST BLEW THRU AT 94,000 MILES.

MY NAME IS [XXX], I OWN A 2011 F150 ECOBOOST. OVER THE PAST 4 YEARS I HAVE ENCOUNTERED AND SAME ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE MISFIRING DUE TO MOISTURE GETTING IN THE INTAKE. EVERYONE DEALERSHIP PERSONAL I'VE SPOKEN WITH HAS CONFIRMED THAT IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THAT YEAR AND MODEL AND THERE IS NO PERMANENT FIX. HOWEVER WHEN THE ENGINE CONTINUOUSLY MISFIRES IT CALLS FOR SERVICE ON THE TRUCK AND REPLACEMENT OF CERTAIN PARTS. I AM FILLING THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS RIGHT THAT FORD SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO IGNORE A KNOWN ISSUE THAT HAS ALMOST GOTTEN MYSELF AND FAMILY INTO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT ON THE HIGHWAY. ON APRIL 29, 2016, I CONTACTED FORD MOTOR COMPANY CUSTOMER RELATIONS AND OPENED A CASE CONCERNING THESE SRS PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE. TIME: 3:15 PM CASE# [XXX] AGENT: [XXX] VEHICLE SAFETY IS A RESPONSIBILITY OF THE MANUFACTURER. I AM GETTING READY TO GO ON VACATION THE END OF THIS WEEK AND I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THIS ISSUE FIXED ASAP, PLEASE. IN THE LAST 20+ YEARS I HAVE NEVER OWNED A VEHICLE THAT HAS HAD THIS MANY ISSUES, CONCERNING THE SAFETY RESTRAINT SYSTEM. I CONTACTED FORD CUSTOMER RELATION AGAIN THIS MORNING AND HAVE A REF NUMBER [XXX] I HAVE OWNED SEVERAL CARS WITH SRS DURING THE LAST 25+ YEARS AND NOT HAD THIS MANY PROBLEMS WITH ANY VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED. I WAS ABOUT 3 MILES FROM HOME WHEN I STARTED TO FEEL THE STEERING BECOMING HARD TO TURN. ABOUT 2 BLOCKS FROM HOME I HAD DIFFICULTY MAKING A RIGHT AND LEFT TURN TILL I DROVE UP TO MY HOME, HAD SOME ASSISTANCE IN TURNING THE STEERING AND BACKING UP THE TRUCK INTO DRIVE WAY. AFTER THAT STEERING WENT OUT. HAD TO GET IT TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. HAD A TO ALMOST $2,000 FOR THE REPAIR
WHILE DRIVING THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT WILL COME ON AND THE ELECTRONIC STEERING GOES OUT RENDERING THE TRUCK UNABLE TO STEER. AFTER THE TRUCK IS RESTARTED THE LIGHT GOES OUT ONLY TO HAPPEN AGAIN AT SOME POINT. I WAS TOLD THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM BY FORD MECHANICS WITH THE 2011 F-150. I HAVE TALKED TO 4 OTHER OWNERS THAT HAVE THE SAME YEAR TRUCK AND THREE OF THEM HAVE HAD THIS VERY SAME THING HAPPEN, HOW COME FORD HAS NOT BEEN FORCED TO RECALL THESE EFFECTED TRUCKS AND FIX THE DEADLY SITUATION OR AT THE VERY LEAST HAD TO COVER THE REPAIRS AS THESE SYMPTOMS ARISE. THIS SEEMS TO HAPPEN MORE RIGHT AFTER A BUMP IN THE ROAD OR WHILE ON A LEFT TURN. IT TAKES SUPER HUMAN STRENGTH TO THEN TRY TO KEEP FROM STRIKING A CAR HEAD ON IN THE LEFT LANE.
TOOK VEHICLE 2011 F-100 TO FORD SERVICE CENTER FOR SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT DIAGNOSIS. FORD DEALER INFORMED ME VEHICLE WAS MISFIRING AND NEEDED PLUGS AND COILS. DEALER THEN INFORMED ME THAT THE VEHICLE ALSO NEEDS STEERING RACK REPLACEMENT AS CODES REVEAL A RACK FAILURE. SERVICE ADVANCE TRACK LIGHT WAS ON. QUOTED $1800.00 FOR STEERING RACK REPLACEMENT. VEHICLE NOW HAS 83200 MILES ON IT. THIS LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON AND OFF FOR AT LEAST THE LAST 2 YEARS. DEALER SAYS TOTAL FAILURE IS A CERTAINTY IN TIME. AFTER RESEARCH ON INTERNET I FIND THAT FORD HAS IDENTIFIED THIS PROBLEM ON VEHICLES IN MY MODEL YEAR AND HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT . SAFETY CONCERN IS THAT STEERING COULD FREEZE WHILE DRIVING AND RESULT IN ACCIDENT.
OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR (OSS) FAILURE (RECALL: 16N02). I WAS DRIVING DOWN A CITY STREET AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DOWN SHIFTED FROM FIFTH GEAR TO FIRST GEAR AND THEN SHIFTED BACK INTO FIFTH GEAR AFTER APPROXIMATELY 10-15 SECONDS. LATER THAT DAY, I WAS ACCELERATING FROM A STOP LIGHT WHEN THE VEHICLE FELT LIKE IT HAD LOST POWER AND BEGAN TO JERK WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS. THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING, THE INFO CENTER DISPLAYED ALL DASHES, THE RPM'S INCREASED AND THE SERVICE ADVANCED TRAC MESSAGE DISPLAYED AND THE ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. I HAD THE CODES FROM THE ENGINE LIGHT READ AND IT CAME UP AS P0720 FAULT. MY VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING ALL OF THE SIGNS LISTED IN THE RECALL, BUT IS NOT INCLUDED. MY TRUCK WAS MANUFACTURED IN THE DEARBORN PLANT WITHIN THE TIME FRAME OF THE RECALL DATES. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD AND THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY. I HAVE ATTACHED A PDF OF THE RECALL.
2011 F-150 SUPER CAB 4X4 WITH AN 8FT BED 3.5 ECOBOOST ENGINE, DRIVING DOWN THE HIGH WAY 60 MILES AN HOUR ENGINE THREW A ROD, IT BLEW THROUGH THE ENTIRE BLOCK CAUSING AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION, STARTED CHECKING AROUND HAVE FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME THING IN THE 3.5 ECOBOOST ENGINES, SOMETHING ABOUT FORD USING CHEAPER POWDERED RODS, I'M NOT SURE ALL I KNOW IS I HAD A PERFECTLY GOOD TRUCK ONE MINUTE AND THE NEXT IT'S BASICALLY A LOSS, I JUST THANK FOR NO ONE WAS HURT.
I WAS BACKING MY F-150 DOWN AN ALLEY OUT INTO THE STREET WHEN I HAD A SUDDEN AND COMPLETE STEERING FAILURE. THE STEERING WHEEL DID NOT JUST FEEL STIFF BUT LOCKED UP AS IF IT WERE BEING HELD BY SOMETHING. THERE WAS NO INDICATION FROM EITHER SYMPTOMS OR ANY TYPE OF WARNING LIGHT AS TO THE FAIL PRIOR TO THIS. AFTER TORQUING ON IT. IT FINALLY BROKE TO THE RIGHT AND THEN WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE WHEELS BUT IT WANTED TO LOCK IN CERTAIN POSITIONS. I AM A BIG GUY AND COULD HARDLY MOVE THE WHEEL WHEN IT WAS TRYING TO LOCK UP. MY WIFE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO MOVE IT AT ALL. I HAVE READ THE INFORMATION SINCE ON THIS SYSTEM AND HAVE FOUND THAT THE PROBLEM IS CONSISTENT TO THE TYPE OF DEVISE USED TO DRIVE THE POWER ASSIST. WHEN THE ELECTROMAGNET FAILS IT LOCKS INTO POSITION RATHER THAN ASSISTING THE STEERING. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS IT TAKES AN INCREDIBLE AMOUNT OF POWER TO MOVE TO STEERING WHEEL IF THIS HAPPENS. THIS SHOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE ON A 5 YEAR OLD TRUCK THAT HAS JUST 50K THIS MONTH.
WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, IF I MAKE A SLIGHT TURN TO THE LEFT, THERE IS RESISTANCE WHEN TRYING TO RETURN THE WHEEL TO STRAIGHT AHEAD. ALSO, THE ADVANCE TRACK MECHANISM (SKID CONTROL) HAS BEEN DISABLED WHICH ALSO LIMITS THE TURN SIGNAL AVAILABILITY. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MY FORD DEALER THAT I HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE RACK AND PINION STEERING MECHANISM TO FIX THIS. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY HAZARD AND HARD TO UNDERSTAND GIVEN THAT I HAVE LESS THAN 80,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK. FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED.
I HAVE A 2011 F150 WITH JUST UNDER 44K MILES. TOOK THE TRUCK IN FOR A SET OF FRONT BRAKES AND WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WAS A SMALL LEAK NOT EXACTLY SURE WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM. WITHIN LESS THAT A WEEK THE ENGINE WAS NOT ENGAGING TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY ADVISED THAT I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION AS THERE WERE NO FLUIDS IN IT. NEEDLESS TO SAY I WAS QUITE SURPRISED AS WE HAD JUST TOPPED OFF ALL THE FLUIDS IN THE PAST TWO WEEKS. NOT REAL SURE ABOUT THIS, BUT I HAD A NEW TRANSMISSION PUT IN PICKED IT UP UPON LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP I HAD ANOTHER PROBLEM THE STEERING SEEMED A LITTLE TIGHT ENDED UP TAKING I THE TRUCK BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP THE ADVISED THAT I REPLACE THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING ASSY AND PROGRAM MODULE TO VEHICLE. I WASN'T TOO SURE ABOUT THIS SO I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT I NORMALLY DEAL WITH AS THE CURRENT ONE HAD TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS UNWILLING TO CONTACT FORD ON MY BEHALF THEY SAID IT WAS COINCIDENCE THAT THIS WAS HAPPENING. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE TRUCK IN THE PAST IT HAS RUN PERFECTLY. MY GUY AT MY DEALERSHIP TOOK THE TRUCK IN AND HAD TO PUT IN THE POWER STEERING ASSY. THIS ALL HAPPENED WITHIN A PERIOD OF 3 WEEKS AND I HAD TO PAY FOR A RENTAL CAR.
OCCASIONALLY ON INITIAL START UP THE BRAKE PEDAL DOES NOT WANT TO DEPRESS, FEELS VERY HARD AND DOES NOT ENGAGE THE BRAKES. FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS PARKED ON A SLOPE AND THE TRUCK ROLLED BACKWARDS AND ONLY AFTER STOMPING ON THE PEDAL WITH BOTH DID IT STOP BUT BY THAT TIME IT HAD ROLLED ABOUT 30 FEET. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 8 MONTHS AGO, AND CONTINUES TO OCCUR AFTER THE TRUCK HAS NOT BEEN USED FOR SEVERAL DAYS. I HAVEN'T PARKED ONLY ANY SLOPES AND I ALWAYS BACK UP SLOWLY TO TEST THEM BEFORE I DRIVE, WHEN IT HAPPENS I PUMP THEM SEVERAL TIMES AND THEN THEY ENGAGE. I'VE HAD THEM CHECKED BY MECHANIC BUT HE HAS NOT FOUND ANYTHING DEFECTIVE AND HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE SITUATION. OTHER THAN THESE OCCURRENCES THE BRAKING WORKS NORMALLY.
MILEAGE ON 2011 TRUCK IS 110,000. AT LOW SPEEDS, STEERING WILL SEIZE AND NEED TO USE MY OWN STRENGTH TO TURN. THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY, AND FORD REALLY NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. I HAVE COME CLOSE TO HITTING MANY CARS IN PARKING LOTS. ALSO HAPPENS USUALLY WHEN I AM BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY FOR WORK, NOT A GOOD TIME TO SCARE ME.
I'VE HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS FROM THE BEGINNING WITH THIS VEHICLE. AT FIRST, THE TRANSMISSION WOULD DOWN SHIFT VERY HARD AT RANDOM TIMES, ESPECIALLY SLOW SPEEDS. THE PAST FEW MONTHS, AFTER A RAIN THE TRANSMISSION WILL RUN IN 5TH GEAR ONLY. ONCE I DRIVE A FEW MILES, I CAN TURN THE VEHICLE OFF FOR A MINUTE AND IT WILL USUALLY CORRECT THE PROBLEM. LAST WEEK, I WAS DRIVING STEADILY AT ABOUT 45 MPH WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFTED TO 1ST GEAR! IT SMOKED THE REAR TIRES AND BOUNCED THE REAR AXLES UNTIL I SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND COASTED TO A STOP. FORTUNATELY THERE WERE NO CARS BEHIND ME OR IT COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. ONCE I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND THEN RESTARTED IT FUNCTIONED NORMALLY. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE LOCAL DEALER A NUMBER OF TIMES AND THEIR SOLUTION IS ALWAYS TO "REFLASH" THE TRANSMISSION. THIS COULD BE SERIOUS ISSUE AND I'M NERVOUS TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AT SPEED NOW....
WHEN ACCELERATING ONTO THE HIGHWAY THE POWER SHUT DOWN AND THE ENGINE SHAKED VIOLENTLY AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. AFTERWORD I COULD NOT SPEED UP PASS 50MPH. I PULLED OVER LET IT REST FOR 30MIN AND THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYED ON AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO DO ANY AGGRESSIVE ACCELERATIONS AND COULD BARELY MAKE IT UP HILLS.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER DUE TO THE DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR FEES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 146,540.
