MY BRAKES HAVEN'T BEEN WORKING PROPERLY. IT LOOKS LIKE THE YEAR OF MY TRUCK HAD A RECALL. BUT ACCORDING TO MY VIN THEY NEVER RECALLED MY TRUCK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS LOW SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT USED EXCESSIVE FORCE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL. NORM REEVES FORD OF CERITOS, CA WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE RACK AND PINION FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 55,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE STEERING STICKS WHILE DRIVING, MOST OF THE TIMES WHILE DRIVING STREIGHT, BUT SOMETIMES WHILE TURNING IT WILL BECOME HARD TO TRUN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL RANDOMLY ILLUMINATED OFF AND ON. THE DOORS MADE A DINGING NOISE; HOWEVER, NONE OF THEM WERE AJAR. IN ADDITION, THE PARKING BRAKE INDICATOR RANDOMLY ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE DOORS FAILED TO LOCK FROM THE INSIDE AND THE CONTACT HAD TO USE THE KEY TO MANUALLY LOCK THE DOORS FROM THE OUTSIDE. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AT A BATTERY SHOP WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FAULTY BODY CONTROL MODULE DRAINED THE BATTERY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JEFF FORD OF PULLMAN (2590 S GRAND AVE, PULLMAN, WA 99163, (509) 334-6000) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BODY CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
2011 F150 STEERING FAILURE , WHEN FAILED STEERING FAILED STABILITY CONTROL AND STEERING WENT. WHILE MAKING TURN STEERING WOULD " LOCK" PREVENTING TEMPARY CONTROL OF PICKUP, BEFORE COMPLETING TRIP POWER ASSIST WENT TOTALLY OUT. CONTACTED FORD THEY STATE THAT THE POWER ASSIST NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FROM DESCRIPTION ALONE, THEY ALSO HAD RECALLED MULTIPLE OTHER VEHICLES FOR THIS ISSUE HOW EVER THE F 150 IS NOT ONE OF THOSE AND IT WILL COST 3 K TO FIX.... UMM IF ALL YOUR OTHER VEHICLES ARE DOING THIS AND THIS ONE IS DOING THE SAME THING THEN ITS A DEFECT! THE ONLY THING THAT HELPED ME PREVENT THE ACCIDENT FROM HAPPENING WAS MY TRAINING AS AN EVO ( EMERGENCY VEHICLE OPERATOR) AT THE TIME OF FAILURE I WAS TURNING IN FRONT OF SEMI , IF I WOULD NOT HAVE TAKEN THE DITCH AND PREVENTED MEASURES THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN A QUAD FATALITY . TRUCK IS PARKED AT A DRESS GIVEN UNABLE TO DRIVE HOME
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AND DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELTS FAILED TO SECURE THE PASSENGERS WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ABRUPTLY DEPRESSED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER (MULLINEX FORD LOCATED IN LAKE PARK, FL) WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
TRANSMISSION SLIPPING
THE EPAS STEERING SYSTEM HAS INTERMITENT HARD STEERING ISSUES. SOMETIMES IT WILL WANT TO STICK WHEN TURNING AND VERY HARD TO TURN BACK STRAIGHT. IT IS LIKE IT IS MANUAL STEERING.
WHILE DRIVING THE STEERING WHEEL GETS STUCK AND LOCKS UP. I HAVE TO THEN SLOW DOWN OR STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES, AND IT DOESN'T MATTER IF I'M ON A COUNTRY ROAD, CITY STREET OR INTERSTATE WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE TOLD THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES ABOUT THIS PROBLEM SINCE I PURCHASED THE TRUCK IN MAY 2017. IT CONTINUES TO BE AN ISSUE. I AM AFRAID I'M GOING TO GET REAR ENDED OR HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE WHEN THIS PROBLEM OCCURS.IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT SPEED I AM TRAVELING EITHER.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (TALLASSEE AUTOMOTIVE, 1618 GILMER AVENUE, TALLASSEE, AL, 36078) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LEAD FRAME WIRING HARNESS TO THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS CURRENTLY BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 140,000.
I WAS DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (70+ MPH) ON A MOUNTAIN ROAD GOING UPHILL IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WHEN THE TRUCK COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. THE TRUCKS' POWER STEERING, BRAKING, AND MANEUVERABILITY BECAME EXTREMELY CHALLENGING AS I TRIED TO PULL IT TO SAFETY. HOWEVER, WITH IT BEING ON A MOUNTAIN ROAD THERE WAS VERY LITTLE SHOULDER AND PART OF MY TRUCK ENDED UP BLOCKING TRAFFIC SINCE THE TRUCK WAS UNRESPONSIVE. MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD! THE FAULTY COMPONENT THAT CAUSED THIS SITUATION IS THE FUEL PUMP FUSE OVERHEATED CAUSING NO FUEL DELIVERY TO MY VEHICLE. I LATER LEARNED THROUGH SOME RESEARCH THAT FORD MOTOR CO. HAD ISSUED, WITHOUT ALERTING THE PUBLIC, A TSB (15-0137) REGARDING THE FUEL PUMP FUSE. I HAD NO IDEA SINCE THERE WAS NO RECALL ISSUED. IF I HAD KNOWN, THIS VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED!!!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH AND MAKING LEFT TURNS, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER (APPLE FORD OF LYNCHBURG, LOCATED AT 2113 LAKESIDE DR LYNCHBURG, VA 24501) WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE STEERING MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,882.
I TOOK MY F-150 IN FOR THE SAME EXACT SYMPTOMS OF RECALL #16S19. THEY REPLACED THE SAME EXACT PART REQUIRED TO REMEDY THE OUTSTANDING RECALL, BUT MY VIN WAS NOT COVERED. THIS RECALL NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED TO COVER FURTHER VIN'S SINCE IT IS A LARGER ISSUE THAN CURRENTLY REPORTED.
WHILE DRIVING THRU A PARKING LOT I RECEIVED A WARNING "SERVICE ADVANTRAC" THEN WHILE MAKING A TURN INTO A FOOD DRIVE THRU ANOTHER ALARM WENT OFF. POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT. I LOST ALL POWER STEERING AND NEARLY CRASHED INTO THE DRIVE THRU SIGN. THIS ALL HAPPENED WITHIN MINUTES. WHEN THE STEERING GOES OUT THERE IS NOT ADVANCED INDICATIONS OR WARNINGS UNTIL IT HAPPENS. THE ELECTRIC ASSIST MOTOR IS JUST DISABLED. YOU HAVE NO STEERING AT THAT POINT. IT IS HARDER TO TURN THEN AN OLDER MANUAL STEERING VEHICLE. THE ENTIRE RACK N PINION STEERING UNIT HAS TO BE REPLACED DUE TO UNDER ENGINEERING. IT IS ONE MOTOR BUT IS EMBEDDED INTO THE RACK. THE COST ALONE IS 1200.00 FOR THE RACK NOT INCLUDING LABOR TO INSTALL AND REPROGRAM. TO ME THIS IS AN EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE THAT WILL SOME DAY GET SOMEONE SEVERELY INJURED OR DEATH DUE TO A NON STEERING VEHICLE. AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE I HAD JUST DRIVEN OVER A VERY STEEP AND WINDY MOUNTAIN ROAD. SCARY TO THINK WHAT MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED IF IT HAD FAILED ON THAT ROAD.
MY PROBLEM IS ALMOST EXACTLY LIKE THE ONE STATED FROM THERMPOLIS WY DATED JUNE 02 2017 I ALSO HAVE 103,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK.I NOTICED ON THE INTERSTATE SPEEDS ABOVE 50MPH THE STEERING CATCHES IN CENTER POSITION CAUSING AN OVER STEER WHEN CHANGING LANES.(VERY DANGEROUS).MY COST TO REPLACE THE ELECTRONIC POWER ASSIST IS $1400
IF I START MY TRUCK AND IMMEDIATELY PUT IT IN REVERSE MY BRAKES WILL NOT WORK, I HAVE TO LET THE TRUCK SIT FOR A COUPLE MINUTES BEFORE MY BRAKES WILL WORK. I HAVE REPLACED MY BRAKES THINKING THIS WOULD CORRECT THE PROBLEM BUT IT DID NOT. I HAVE BACKED INTO A CONCRETE POST BECAUSE OF THIS. VERY UNSAFE
WHEN DRIVING AND YOU MAKE SLIGHT TURNS AND GO BACK TO STRAIGHTEN WHEEL OUT THE STEERING LOCKS UP FOR A FEW SECONDS. FROM ALL THE RESEARCH I HAVE DONE IT SEEMS LIKE THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING ASSIST IS THE ISSUE. I NOTICED THIS TO HAPPEN AS WE WERE DRIVING THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS. I SEE ONLINE OTHERS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS. THE WHEEL GETS VERY HARD TO HOLD ONTO AND I WOULD HATE TO HAVE TO BE IN A BIG TURN AND CAN'T TURN THE WHEEL BACK ESPECIALLY IF WE ARE GOING AT A NORMAL SPEED. THIS WILL ACT UP AT ANYTIME ON ANY TYPE OF ROAD. FROM RESEARCH THIS CAN BE QUIET EXPENSIVE FOR THE REPAIR, AS IT IS CAUSING OTHER THINGS TO BE AFFECTED THAT MAY NEED REPAIRS AS WELL.
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 10 MILES PER HOUR ON A DIRT ROAD MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AS IF THE TRUCK HAD BEEN TURNED OFF, CAUSING ME TO CRASH INTO A TREE. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS FIRM.AND WOULD NOT DEPRESS.
WHILE DRIVING THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING WILL SUDDENLY ALERT AND FAIL AND THE VEHICLE IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER.
BECOMES STIFF AND VEHICLE IS HARD TO CONTROL. THIS OCCURS AT LOW SPEED ,HIGH SPEED. WHEN TURNING I HAVE TO MUSCLE THE STEERING WHEEL, THE TRUCK WILL START TO DRIFT OUT OF THE LANE OR TRAVEL AND CONTINUE IN THAT DIRECTION INSTEAD OF RETURNING TO CENTER. I AM ALWAYS CORRECTING THE DIRECTION OF TRAVEL. THE TRUCK WILL TRAVEL IN A STRAIGHT LINE. IT ACTS AS IF THE FRONT END ALIGNMENT IS OUT PULLING THE TRUCK ONE WAY AND THEN THE OTHER ONCE CORRECTED. IT'S ALMOST AS IF YOU ARE FIGHTING THE STEERING. THE ENTIRE TIME IN AM DRIVING MY TRUCK. I HAVE ANOTHER 2011 F150 AND I CAN'T WAIT FOR THAT ONE TO START HAVING PROBLEMS
MY TRUCK WOULD INTERMITTANLY MAKE A CHIRPING NOISE AND WOULD TEMPORARILY BE HARD TO STEER WHILE DRIVING AROUND TOWN. ONE OF THE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON SO I TOOK IT INTO THE FORD DEALER. THE FIRST TIME, WHICH OCCURRED IN JUNE, THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THE SECOND TIME I TOOK IT IN (7/21/17), THE FORD DEALER CALLED AND TOLD ME THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL WAS SHOT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THEY TOLD ME THAT I WAS LUCKY I BROUGHT IT IN AS IT WAS HARD TO STEER. I HAVE DID AN INTERNET SEARCH AND FOUND THIS PROBLEM HAS CAUSED FORD TRUCKS TO CRASH. I WROTE A LETTER TO FORD DETAILING THE PROBLEM (ATTACHED) AND SENT THEM LINKS TO COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER FORD TRUCK OWNERS.
WITH 44,000 MILES ON MY TRUCK THE POWER STEERING LITERALLY JUST STOPPED WORKING ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK. TRUCK IS 6 YEARS OLD WELL MAINTAINED AND LOW MILEAGE. FORD WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND TRUCK WAS JUST PAYED OFF A MONTH AGO. CALLED FORD ABOUT ISSUE AND READ ONLINE OF ALL THE ISSUES WITH SAME PROBLEM ACROSSED THE NATION. WAS GIVIN STANDARD SORRY FOR YOUR LUCK IT WILL BE A TOTAL OF $1900.00 TO FIX YOUR PROBLEM.
THE STEERING WHEEL STICKS WHEN TURN IT LEFT EVEN SLIGHTLY LEFT. SOMETIMES IT STICKS VERY TIGHT AND BECOMES DIFFICULT TO RETURN TO CENTER WHILE DRIVING AND CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO JERK HARD. WHEN DRIVING AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE STEERING WHEEL WILL SUDDENLY START PULLING LEFT AND YOU HAVE TO BE QUICK TO CORRECT IT OR IT WILL TOSS YOU IN THE OTHER LANE. IT STARTED ABOUT 30K MILES AGO AND HAS BECOME WORSE AND WORSE AS I PASS 100K MILES.
DRIVING TRUCK AT HIGHWAY SPEED DECIDED TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN , SLOWED TO NEAR STOPPING SPEED AND STARTED TO TURN AND STEERING WHEEL FROZE AND NEARLY CRASHED TRUCK ,COULDN'T BUDGE THE STEERING WHEEL .ACTED AS IF ENGINE TURNED OFF BUT TRUCK WAS STILL RUNNING, I POPPED HOOD DISCONNECTED BATTERY FOR 10 MINUTES HOOKED BACK UP AND STILL NO STEERING, WITH BOTH HANDS I COULD TURN IT MAX 1 INCH IN EITHER DIRECTION, 25 MILES FROM HOME TOOK 2 HOURS AND BACKING UP AND FORWARD SEVERAL TIMES TO EVEN MAKE A VERY SMALL CORNER, UN-SAFE AND DEFINATELY NOT BUYING ANOTHER F-150. TOOK TO SHOP WITH HOIST AND TOOK ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST APART AND BELT WAS CHEWED AND DESTROYED, CAN'T BUY A BELT ANYWHERE , ALL PARTS AND FORD WANT $1200 TO $1700 FOR COMPLETE RACK ALL IT NEEDS IS A $5SIMPLE BELT TO FIX IT. ANYONE KNOW THE PART # FOR BELT? 2011 F-150 HD TOW PKG 4X4 5.0L EPSA BELT PART #
I STOPPED TO BACK INTO A PARKING SPOT, BUT WHEN I PUT THE SHIFT LEVER INTO REVERSE THE "R" INDICATION WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE, AND REVERSE WOULD NOT ENGAGE. THIS CAUSED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT INTO ANY OTHER GEAR, THE "PRND" LIGHTS WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE. WHEN THE TRUCK WAS PUT INTO DRIVE, THE GEAR WOULD ENGAGE, BUT IT SEEMED TO BE UNDER LIMITED POWER. WHEN GEARS A CHANGED, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS VERY HARD. IF THE VEHICLE IS PLACED IN PARK AND TURNED OFF, WHEN IT IS TURNED BACK ON THE GEAR SELECTION ILLUMINATION LIGHT SHOWS, BUT ONCE THE TRANSMISSION IS PLACED IN REVERSE, THE ISSUE REPEATS. A RECALL WAS DONE FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE ON THIS YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL OF VEHICLE, BUT THE VIN DOES NOT SHOW ANY ACTIVE RECALLS.
TEMPORARY HARD BRAKE PEDAL CONDITION AT START-UP FOLLOWED BY MORE NORMAL PEDAL FEEL AFTER A FEW SECONDS. WHEN YOU FIRST START MOVING YOU HAVE TO ALMOST STAND ON THE BRAKES PEDAL TO GET IT THE CAR TO STOP.
STEERING BINDS WHEN TURNING, BOTH WHEN GOING INTO A TURN AND RETURNING TO CENTER (STRAIGHT). MOST NOTICEABLE ON CITY STREETS. I MUST USE EXTRA ARM STRENGTH IN BOTH MANEUVERS. PROBLEM FIRST NOTICED ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO. HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE SINCE.
WHILE DRIVING MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKS AND THE SERVICE ADVANCETRAC WARNING APPEARS IN THE CENTER CLUSTER. YOU CAN OVERPOWER THE WHEEL LOCK BUT AT HIGHWAY SPEED IT ALMOST CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT WITH MY TWO KIDS IN THE TRUCK. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY HAVE STATED THAT THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THE PROBLEM AND I HAVE HEARD THAT THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR. THE PROBLEM IS HAPPENING DAILY NOW AND ALSO HAPPENS AT LOW SPEED WHEN TURNING.
MY TRUCK'S STEERING IS "STICKING" LIKE THE POWER STEERING IS GOING IN AND OUT. WHEN GOING AROUND TURNS MY TRUCK OFTEN GETS STUCK IN TURN POSITION. EVEN WHEN GOING STRAIGHT IT GOES IN AND OUT LIKE IT STICKS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER: FORD OF CLERMONT, CLERMONT, FL, WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS KEPT FOR THREE DAYS FOR DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE AND THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AT SUNSET FORD, ORLANDO, FL WHERE THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THERE WAS ONE RECALL AND PERFORMED THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. THE WRENCH ICON WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND TOLD THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE CONTACT ALERTED THE DEALER AT: KEY SCALES FORD, LEESBURG, FLORIDA, THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD BE TOWED TO THE SERVICE CENTER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 55,000.
2011 FORD F-150 WITH 103,000 MILES. ELECTRONIC POWER ASSIST STEERING (EPAS) MOTOR FAILURE. FORD MAKES REPLACEMENT OF THE FAILED PART ITSELF UNAVAILABLE AND REQUIRES YOU REPLACE THE ENTIRE STEERING RACK AND EPAS MOTOR, AN ESTIMATED $1600 AT THE DEALERSHIP. PARTS ARE ALSO UNAVAILABLE FROM ANYWHERE BUT FORD. STEERING OFTEN "CATCHES" AT SPEEDS ABOVE 4O MPH CAUSING THE DRIVER TO JERK THE STEERING WHEEL OUT OF THE "CATCH" AND OFTEN TIMES OVER-CORRECT THE VEHICLE. THIS IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS WHEN IT HAPPENS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS UNEXPECTEDLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY SHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR FROM FIFTH AND SIXTH GEAR WHILE BEING OPERATED AT 65 MPH. ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN LOCAL DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH FORD VEHICLES. A REMEDY WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY UNTIL IT WAS REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V248000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE DEALERS WERE INDEPENDENTLY OWNED AND NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 88,000.
VEHICLE WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE CORRECT GEAR WHEN INSERTING KEY INTO THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE STARTED. AFTER WAITING 10 MINUTES, THE P WAS ILLUMINATED IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND THE VEHICLE STARTED AS NORMAL. SOON AFTER, THE P WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE SHIFTED INTO DRIVE TO MOVE. THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING AND THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED TO FIRST GEAR. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY FIRST INFORM ME THAT THE SHIFTER MUST BE REPLACED. AFTER GIVING THE GO AHEAD, THEY INFORM ME THAT THE SHIFTER IS FINE. THEY NEED TO REPLACE THE LEAD FRAME IN THE TRANSMISSION AND THE PRICE IS $750. MY VEHICLE FALLS INTO THE TIMEFRAME OF FORD RECALL 16S19 BUT THEY HAVE TOLD ME THE VIN DOES NOT MATCH. AFTER INFORMING THEM THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND WORKING WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND FORD SERVICE, THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR ME. I AM ON MY OWN TO PAY FOR THESE REPAIRS AND HOPE THAT IT ACTUALLY FIXES THE PROBLEM. FORD HAS LOST A LIFE LONG CUSTOMER.
I HAVE A 2011 F150 TRUCK IT'S SAYING POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT, SERVICE ADVANCETRAC, WHEN I TURN THE WHEEL IT MAKES A LOUD NOICE STILL DRIVABLE BUT DANGEROUS. I HAVE LOOKED EVERYWHERE ONLINE THERE IS RECALLS ON THIS EXACT SAME THING JUST NOT ON MY VIN FOR THIS TRUCK BUT SAME YEAR AN TRUCK HAS RECALLS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AN VERY EXPENSIVE TO FIX YOUR SELF . THIS IS A FORD DEFAULT AN THEY ARE NOT WANTING TO FIX I'M WILLING TO GO THROUGH ALL LEVELS TO SEE TO IT THEY FIX IT.
DRIVING 2011 FORD F150 ECOBOOST ON THE HIGHWAY ON A 8 HR TRIP TO RENO FROM LAS VEGAS. WENT TO PASS A LARGE TRUCK AND EXPERIENCED SHAKING AND STUDDERING. HAD TO BACK OFF AS ONCOMING TRAFFIC WAS APPROACHING. HAD TO BACK OFF AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT IN RAINY CONDITIONS BECAUSE ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS BEHIND ME ATTEMPTING TO PASS ALONG WITH ME. THIS CAUSED SWERVING AND HARD BRAKING BY MANY VEHICLES BEHIND THAT VEHICLE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED BUT DID NOT REMAIN ON. I LATER REPLICATED THIS BY DOING A HARD ACCELERATION ON A CLEAR STRETCH OF ROAD SAME STUDDERING AND FLASHING LIGHT. DROVE CONSERVATIVELY THE REST OF THE WAY. IN RENO, I HAD THE TRUCK SCANNED AT AN AUTO PARTS STORE. NO CODES SHOWED. HAVE NOT HAD AN ISSUE SINCE. THIS COULD HAVE KILLED PEOPLE. THE INTERNET SAYS THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE TO FORD ON THE EARLY ECOBOOST ENGINES HAVING TO DO WITH FAULTY INTERCOOLER DESIGN WHICH GATHERS MOISTURE THEN BLOWS IT INTO THE CYLINDERS WHEN ACCELERATING. I LIVE IN THE DESERT AND SO HAVE NOT HAD THIS PROBLEM UNTIL THAT TRIP. THEY (FORD) HAVE NEVER NOTIFIED ME THAT THIS IS A POTENTIAL PROBLEM. THERE IS A TSB FOR IT BUT THAT WON'T HELP THE LARGE BILL FOR THE FIX OR THE SAFETY HAZARD THIS CONDITION CREATES. THIS NEEDS ATTENTION. AT THE LEAST, FORD SHOULD NOTIFY OWNERS THAT THE PROBLEM EXISTS, THAT IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND FIX AT NO COST.
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROX 65-70 MPH ON THE ENTRANCE RAMP TO ROUTE 114 EAST BOUND FROM ROUTE 287 SOUTH BOUND (RHOME, TX.) THE BRAKE LIGHT WARNING ANNOUNCED IN THE TRUCK. I THEN WENT TO TEST THE BRAKES AS THEY WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, I WAS SLOWING DOWN BUT NOT MUCH. I THEN HAD TO USE THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION AND DOWNSHIFT. FINALLY COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP APPROX 3/4 TO A MILE DOWN THE ROAD. THANKFUL NO TRAFFIC AT THIS TIME 615 PM (APPROX). THE SERVICE REPORT IS ATTACHED THE REAR SEAL IN THE MASTER CYLINDER FAILED, CAUSE THE BOOSTER TO DRAWN IN AIR AND FAIL AS WELL. AS A NOT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STOP I OPENED THE HOOD AND CHECKED THE BRAKE RESERVOIR WAS EMPTY AND YOU COULD HEAR AIR BEING SUCKED IN. I HAD MY 13 YR OLD DAUGHTER IN THE TRUCK WITH ME, AS WE WERE RETURNING FROM HER HORSE RIDING LESSONS. I DON'T IMAGE THIS "JUST FAILS" ALSO AS A NOTE THE VEHICLE WAS CHECKED TO INCLUDE THE BRAKES 04/01/2017 AT THAT TIME THE BRAKE SYSTEM WAS FLUSHED - AND ANOTHER SERVICE (SPARK PLUGS) 04/10/2017 - IN THE LOOKED AT BRAKE FLUIDS AND PADS AND ROTORS. NO ISSUES FOUND, I ALSO HAD CHECKED MY FLUIDS ON THE WEEKEND OF MAY 6TH, AGAIN NO ISSUES.

EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. CONTACTED FORD AND THEY SAID THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND THERE IS ACTUALLY A RECALL ON THIS VERY PROBLEM, BUT NOT FOR MY TRUCK SINCE IT WAS NOT WITHIN THE RECALL DATES BY A FEW MONTHS. TOOK THE TRUCK TO TWO DIFFERENT FORD DEALERSHIPS AND THEY SAID THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT, BUT COULD DO THE WORK OUTLINED IN THE RECALL AS LONG AS I PAID FOR IT. STEERING UNEXPECTEDLY BECOMES STIFF AND VEHICLE IS HARD TO CONTROL. THIS OCCURS AT LOW SPEED ,HIGH SPEED. WHEN TURNING I HAVE TO MUSCLE THE STEERING WHEEL INTO A TURN AND THEN BACK OUT OF A TURN. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE STEERING MAY COMPLETELY LOCK UP OR CEASE AT ANY TIME WHICH COULD RESULT IN A DEVASTATING EVENT.
MY VEHICLE ALONG WITH THOUSANDS OF OTHERS ARE DRIVING OUR ROADS WITH FAULTY STEERING. THE STEERING WHEEL LITERALLY GETS STUCK & YOU ALMOST KILL PEOPLE. FORD KNOWS THIS & HAS RECALLED SOME MODELS BECAUSE OF IT, BUT NOT ALL MODELS WERE RECALLED DUE TO COSTS. THEY WONT DO ANYTHING THOUGH BECAUSE THE COST IS TOO HIGH TO FIX. I HAD TO PAY 1900 FOR AN ENTIRE NEW STEERING SYSTEM IN MY TRUCK. ON A SIDE NOTE, FORD DEALERS WILL INSPECT & PASS YOUR STATE INSPECTIONS WITH THIS STEERING PROBLEM. "STEERING IS NOT AN INSPECTION ITEM FROM THE STATE"

DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AROUND 30MPH AND LOST POWER STEERING. "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" APPEARED ON THE MESSAGE CENTER IN THE GAUGE CLUSTER. PULLED OVER SAFELY AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE MESSAGE WAS STILL ON THE MESSAGE CENTER. POWER STEERING IS STILL ABSENT.

I TOOK TRUCK TO FORD DEALERSHIP LAST FALL (2017), AND THEY STATED IT WAS THE TENSION BELT/PULLEY LOOSENING. WHILE DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE, SEEMS LIKE QUITE A FEW FORD TRUCK OWNERS WITH THAT ECOBOOST ENGINE ARE HAVING SAME ISSUE ALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY IN ALL DIFFERENT CLIMATES. THIS SEEMS LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE TO ME, AND WAS HOPING FORD WOULD RECALL AND TAKE CARE OF THIS. TRUCK SEEMS TO MAKE THIS NOISE WHILE STATIONARY UPON STARTING FIRST THING IN THE MORNING. TRUCK HAS A TIMING CHAIN RATTLE AND HAS HAD THE SAME RATTLE FOR 28,000 MILES, SINCE I'VE OWNED THE TRUCK. IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE TRUCK HAS BEEN SITTING FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD. THE RATTLE LASTS FROM 2-10 SECONDS. I HAVE VIDEOS OF IT HAPPENING IN MY DRIVEWAY, AFTER A COLD START. DEALER REFUSES TO FIX IT BECAUSE IT DOESN'T HAPPEN AFTER I DRIVE IT TO THEM AND THEY START IT. TSB-14-0194, TSB 16-0027, TSB- 15-0131. ALL 3 TSBS HAVE THE SAME RESULTS. I HAVE SHOWN THE DEALER MY VIDEOS ND THE SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME "NO PROBLEM WE CAN GET IT FIXED", ONLY TO FIND OUT HE DEALER REFUSES TO FIX IT UNTIL THEY CAN GET THE TRUCK TO DO IT FOR THEM, UNDER THEIR CARE.
