I PURCHASED A 2011 FORD F-150 4X4 WITH AROUND 41,000 MILES ON IT FROM TEXAS DIRECT AUTO, ON 08/18/14 WITH AN EXISTING WARRANTY ON IT. ON THE MORNING OF 09/24/14 WHILE DRIVING TO WORK, I HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND SMOKE STARTING COMING OUT OF MY AC VENTS, HOOD AND EXHAUST PIPE, AS WELL AS LOSING POWER TO THE TRUCK AND SHAKING REALLY BAD. I WAS ABLE TO GET OFF THE FREEWAY TO PARK IT. THE TRUCK IS STILL UNDER POWER TRAIN WARRANTY, SO I TOWED IT TO JOE MYERS FORD, HOUSTON ,TX DOWN THE STREET. LONG STORY SHORT, I WAS TOLD THE MOTOR BLEW AND ON 10/2/14 JOE MYERS FORD IS DENYING THE WARRANTY BECAUSE I DO NOT HAVE SERVICE MAINTENANCE RECORDS, THEN I WAS TOLD IT WAS DUE TO ABUSE. JOE MYERS FORD QUOTES ME $10,500 TO INSTALL A NEW MOTOR. TEXAS DIRECT AUTO WHERE I PURCHASED IT, WAS NOT HELPING ME OUT AS WELL. THE FORD TRUCK HAS A 3.5L V6 DIR DOHC 24V (ECOBOOST) MOTOR. I KNOW THAT NHTSA IS/WAS INVESTIGATING ON THESE MOTORS. I CAN NOT AFFORD A $10,500 MOTOR PLUS A PAYING FOR A $29,000 TRUCK NOTE. *TR
JUST PURCHASED MY VEHICLE. THEN TAKE IT IN FOR SERVICE FOR ROTORS THAT'S ARE SHOT WITH 25K ON IT. FIND OUT THE LAST GUY BLEW THE TURBO CHARGERS AT 4000 MILES N TRADED IT IN. THE VEHICLE SHUDDERS FROM TAKE OFF. THEN SHIFTS HARD. ALSO SHIFTS HARD FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE. NOONE WANTS TO ADMITS THERE'S PROBLEMS. DEALERS KEEP SAYS OH ITS OK. NOT TRUE. I WANT A NEW VEHICLE. I JUST GOT IT. THEY CAN SHOVE IT. LOSSES POWER WHEN IT WANTS TO. I PLUG A CHARGER INTO THE PORTS THE RADIO GOES STATIC. I MEAN WTF . *TR
WHILE TOWING MY CAMPER AT 60 MPH UP AN INCLINE MY 5.0L F150 BEGAN TO LOSE POWER, AS I INCREASED PRESSURE ON THE ACCELERATOR THE POWER TO THE VEHICLE DECREASED EVEN MORE. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I LIMPED UP THE HILL AT A WHOPPING 20MPH ON THE INTERSTATE. ONCE ON THE DOWNGRADE THE VEHICLE CAME BACK UP TO SPEED AND THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF. THE TRUCK CONTINUED TO HAVE POWER ISSUES AND A KNOCKING FROM THE MOTOR WHEN I WAS CLIMBING HILLS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE FORD GARAGE AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WERE NO CODES TO TELL THEM WHAT WAS WRONG. THE VEHICLE STILL HAS THE APPARENT MISS AND KNOCKING SOUND AT CERTAIN RPM'S AND NOW HAS AN ISSUE STARTING FOR THE FIRST TIME OF THE DAY. I AGAIN TOOK IT TO THE FORD GARAGE WHEN THE STARTING ISSUE WAS HAPPENING AND THEY TOLD ME AGAIN THAT THE VEHICLE STILL HAD NO CODES TO EXPLAIN THIS PROBLEM. I TRIED ALL OF THE EASY FIXES BUT THE VEHICLE STILL HAS THE SAME STARTING AND POWER LOSS ISSUES AND FORD CAN NOT TELL ME WHAT IS GOING ON WITH MY VEHICLE. MY BEST GUESS IS A CATALYTIC CONVERTER ISSUE, BUT I CAN DO NOTHING ABOUT IT UNTIL I KNOW FOR SURE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON I-20 FROM DALLAS TO LUBBOCK, I ATTEMPTED TO PASS A VEHICLE IN THE ON-COMING LANE. WHEN I HIT THE GAS PEDAL, THE TRUCK WENT INTO VIGOROUS SHAKING, AND THE ENGINE LOST ALL POWER TO ACCELERATE. I WAS THREE HOURS INTO THE TRIP, THE TRUCK HAD BEEN CRUISE CONTROLLED FOR OVER 60 MILES, AND IT HAD BEEN RAINING THE ENTIRE WAY. WHEN THE TRUCK DID THIS, A VEHICLE (IN ON-COMING LANE) APPEARED AND I HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES TO RETURN BEHIND THE CAR I ATTEMPTED TO PASS. THE SHAKING OF THE TRUCK MADE IT DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AND I HAD TO PULL OVER IN FEAR OF MY SAFETY, AND ULTIMATELY MY LIFE. HAD I NOT ACTED WHEN I DID, I MIGHT HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. DEALERSHIPS ARE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT HAS NOT BEEN THE SAME CONDITIONS AS MY EXPERIENCE. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO BE FIXED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED. *TR
ENGINE SHAKES AND LOSES POWER WHEN YOU TRY AND SPEED UP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE SERVICE ADVANCE TRACK WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY AS THE TURN SIGNALS FAILED TO OPERATE. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE RACK AND PINION AND STEERING BOX NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,500. UPDATED 11/24/14*LJ
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING AS DESIGNED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SPARK PLUGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,500.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND ALL OF A SUDDEN HEARD A LOUD POP, LOOKED IN MY REARVIEW MIRROR AND THE REAR WINDOW ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE TRUCK WAS SHATTERED. THE REAR DEFROSTER WAS ON UPON THE TIME OF THIS HAPPENING, BUT IT WAS NOT ON FOR MORE THAN 5 MINUTES. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT ABOUT 45 MPH THERE WAS A TOTAL LOSS OF POWER. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN BUT MISSING BADLY. COASTED OFF THE ROAD, STOPPED AND WHEN IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE PROBLEM CORRECTED ITSELF. THIS HAS HAPPENED 2 TIMES IN THE PAST TWO WEEKS. THE DEALER WON'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE THERE IS NO ERROR CODE RECORDED. THIS CONDITION COULD BE DANGEROUS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC OR PULLING A TRAILER. *TR
I WAS ACCELERATING UP AROUND 45 MPH AND THE VEHICLE JUST DIED TO A ROUGH IDLE. CAR BEHIND HAD TO SWERVE TO MISS ME. I WAS TOLD THIS IS A THROTTLE CONTROL BOARD AND IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN FORD VEHICLES. PLEASE TELL FORD TO RECALL THIS PROBLEM OR THEY WILL NOT RECALL THIS PART UNTIL SOMEONE DIES IT LOOKS LIKE. *TR
PUSHED MY REAR DEFROST BUTTON DUE TO SOME CONDENSATION AND NOTHING HAPPENED GOT TO WORK 7 MINS LATER PARKED GOT OUT OF TRUCK AND OPENED MY BACK DRIVER DOOR AND HEARD A POP AND LOOKED AT THE REAR WINDOW AND IS WAS CRACKED ALL OVER LIKE A WEB. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH AS I STEERED INTO A LEFT HAND CURVE IN THE ROAD WITH THE STEERING WHEEL IN ABOUT THE 10 O'CLOCK POSITION THE STEERING "LOCKED" INTO THAT POSITION. THE VEHICLE FELT AS IF THE WHEELS HAD ENTERED A RUT IN THE ROAD. THE AUTOMATIC RETURN TO CENTER FUNCTION DID NOT WORK AND I HAND TO MANUALLY APPLY FORCE TO BRING THE STEERING WHEEL BACK TO CENTER. THIS MALFUNTION CONTINUED TO OCCUR WHENEVER THE ABOVE CONDITIONS WERE MET. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST STEERING SYSTEM "RACK". FORD IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND HAS A TSB (#11-08-18) IN EFFECT TO ADDRESS IT. THE TSB HAS THE PROBLEM NARROWED DOWN THE THE YEAR, MODEL, PLACE OF MANUFACURE, AND DATE OF MANUFACTURE. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW A WELL DOCUMENTED PROBLEM SUCH AS THIS THAT HAS BEEN FULLY RESEARCHED AND IDENTIFIED IS NOT THE SUBJECT OF A SAFETY RECALL. THIS PROBLEM COULD EASILY CAUSE A VEHICLE TO DRIFT OUT OF ITS LANE ON A DIVIDED HIGHWAY, INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC ON ON UNDIVIDED ROAD OR OFF THE ROADWAY ENTIRELY. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND TRIED TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY TO PASS SOMEONE AND THE TRUCK HAD MAJOR HESITATION AND SHUDDERING. CONTINUES TO DO THIS ANYTIME YOU TRY TO RAPIDLY ACCELERATE. *TR
I HAVE A FORD F150 ECOBOOST. THIS VEHICLE IS VERY DEFECTIVE DUE TO LOSS OF POWER WHEN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY TRYING TO OVERPASS OTHER VEHICLES..VEHICLE LOOSES POWER DUE TO MOISTURE OR HUMIDITY THAT ENTERS THE INTERCOOLER. IT ALSO MAKES THE CYLINDERS TO MISFIRE AND THE TURBO. DUE TO THAT ENGINE TURNS ON AND I HAVE TO POWER TO MY VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING WHICH CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT DUE TO A SUDDEN SLOW IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY.. I HAVE THREE KIDS AND I WOULDN'T WANT ANY ACCIDENTS HAPPENING DUE TO THIS.. FORD NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS VEHICLES I LOST MY MONEY ON A WORTHLESS PIECE OF YOU KNOW.IM VERY DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE I'VE SPEND SO MUCH MONEY ON REPAIRS ARE NOT WORKING. *TR
APPROXIMATELY 9 TO 10 TIMES I HAVE EXPERIENCED LOSS OF POWER SHUTTERING MISFIRES AND BACKFIRING ONLY TO FIND FOULED SPARK PLUGS I HAVE REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS APPROXIMATELY EIGHT TIMES IN 10,000 MILES DUE TO THIS CONDITION ON THIS FORD ECO-BOOST ENGINE. ALL TSB'S HAVE BEEN COMPLETED ON THE TRUCK YET I STILL EXPERIENCE THIS ENGINE PROBLEM
LOUD BANG WITH REAR DEFROSTER ON (LIGHT FLASHING)- NO BROKEN GLASS BUT HAD TO REMOVE 2 FUSES TO KEEP GLASS FROM EXPLODING WHILE DRIVING AS MANY HAVE ALREADY REPORTED TO THIS SITE. NOW NO REAR DEFROSTER AVAILABLE.
WHEN MANEUVERING IN THE PARKING LOT, THE EPAS UNIT FAILED CREATING THE STEERING WHEEL TO BE EXTREMELY HARD TO MOVE. THIS ISSUE WAS SO BAD I COULD NO LONGER DRIVE THE TRUCK BACK DUE TO SAFETY CONCERNS. I AM HAVING THE TRUCK TOWED TO THE FORD DEALER TO SEE WHAT THEY CAN DO ABOUT THIS ISSUE. THE SERVICE ADVANCEDTRAC INFORMATION DISPLAY APPEARED ON MY DASH AS WELL AS ELECTRONIC POWERSTEERING ASSIST SYSTEM FAILURE. WHEN TURNING AS FAR RIGHT AS POSSIBLE THE TRUCK WOULD MAKE A REALLY LOUD METAL TO METAL NOISE. THIS TRUCK IS NO LONGER ABLE TO DRIVE SAFELY, HOPEFULLY FORD WILL TAKE ACTION TO FIX THIS ISSUE BEFORE ITS TOO LATE. OTHERWISE, I AM STILL GOING TO HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET AROUND $1200-1500 TO HAVE THIS FIXED. *TR
I DO NOT HAVE THE EXACT DATES AS TO WHEN THE FIRST INCIDENT TOOK PLACE. I WAS ENTERING THE E WAY MERGING INTO TRAFFIC WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLES LOST POWER. I WAS FORTUNATE NOT TO BE HIT IN THE BACK BY TRAFFIC I HAD TO STEER QUICKLY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAVE TAKEN THIS VEHICLE AND TWO OTHERS WE OWN IN ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE DIFFERENT FIXES THEY HAVE TRIED HAVE NOT WORKED AND YET I CONTINUE TO BE CHARGED FOR THESE FIXES. I FEEL IF IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM FORD SHOULD BE TAKING CARE OF THE PROBLEM NOT CHARGING ME TO TRY AND FIGURE IT OUT. AFTER READING ONLINE THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE HAVING THESE PROBLEMS AS I HAVE BEEN TOLD I FELT IT IS IMPORTANT TO FILE A COMPLAINT BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. *TR
I WAS ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE HARD TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC ONTO INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. WHEN I PUSHED PEDAL TO FLOOR, THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY SLOWED AS IF A GOVERNOR HAD KICKED IN. FORTUNATELY, I HAD ROOM ON SHOULDER TO NOT GET HIT, BUT HAD TO WAIT AND PUMP PEDAL TWICE BEFORE IT BEGAN TO ACCELERATE AGAIN. I HAVE NOT TRIED TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I HAD AN IDENTICAL PROBLEM 3 YEARS AGO IN ANOTHER ECOBOOST FORD F150 THAT NEARLY KILLED ME. I ATTEMPTED TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE AND REALIZED THAT I NEEDED HARD ACCELERATION AND THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY SLOWED. THERE WAS NO WHERE TO GO, BUT FORTUNATELY MY FELLOW MOTORISTS REALIZED I HAD A PROBLEM AND LET ME BACK INTO MY LANE WITHOUT A MULTI-VEHICLE CRASH. I ASKED MY DEALER ABOUT THAT THEN, AND WAS TOLD THAT NEVER HAD BEEN REPORTED. I IMMEDIATELY TRADED THAT TRUCK FOR THE ONE I HAVE NOW THAT DAY. *TR
MY WIFE HAD TO MOVE MY TRUCK SO THE KIDS HAD MORE ROOM TO PLAY IN THE DRIVEWAY. NO BIG DEAL, RIGHT? WRONG. SHE STARTS TO BACK DOWN THE DRIVEWAY (WHICH HAS A MODERATE GRADE) AND I NOTICE A LOOK OF PANIC ON HER FACE, COUPLED WITH THE FACT THAT THE TRUCK WASN'T STOPPING, I COULD SEE SOMETHING WAS WRONG. SHE FINALLY GOT IT STOPPED RIGHT BEFORE GOING OUT ONTO THE ROAD. SHE JUMPED OUT AND SAID, "YOUR BRAKES WOULDN'T WORK. I WAS PRESSING AS HARD AS I COULD AND IT WOULDN'T STOP." I GOT IN THE TRUCK AND CAREFULLY TRIED TO DUPLICATE THE SITUATION, AND SURE ENOUGH, MORE OFTEN THAN NOT IT HAD A HARD TIME STOPPING. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THERE ARE PLENTY OF CASES LIKE THIS. SOME PEOPLE ACTUALLY CRASHED THEIR VEHICLE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A REALLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY FORD. AND I WILL NOTE THIS IS NOT THE FIRST DANGEROUS PROBLEM I'VE HAD WITH THIS TRUCK. I'M SURE FORD WILL TELL ME THEY CAN'T HELP ME, LEAVING ME TO FOOT THE BILL FOR A PROBLEM THAT SEEMS TO BE RATHER COMMON, AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY THEM. JUST LIKE THEY DID TO ME BEFORE. *TR
WATER FROM THE CAC WAS INGESTED INTO THE ENGINE CAUSING A MISFIRE. THIS IS THE 8TH TIME IT HAS HAPPENED TO ME. I HAVE HAD ALL TSB'S COMPLETED BY FORD AND THE ISSUE STILL PERSISTS. THE ECOBOOST ENGINES ARE UNSAFE. THIS LOSS OF POWER WHILE MERGING HAS CAUSES ME TO NARROWLY ESCAPE ACCIDENTS 2 OUT OF THE 8 INCIDENTS. I NOTICED THAT THE NHTSA CLOSED AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE ECOBOOST ISSUES EARLIER THIS YEAR. I'M SUGGESTING THAT THE NHTSA RE-OPEN THAT INVESTIGATION. THE TSB'S ARE NOT FIXING THESE ISSUES AND IT IS ONLY A MATTER IF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED. PLEASE CONTACT ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS. *TR
SCREECHING IN RACK AND PINION AND LOST ALL POWER STEERING. TOOK FOR DIAGNOSTIC AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE STEERING ANGLE SENSOR EMBEDDED IN THE RACK. ENTIRE RACK HAS TO BE REPLACED. TRUCK IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD WITH 52,000 MILES. NEW RACK AND PINION IS OVER $1500. *TR
THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY ON RAMP TURNING LEFT AND MY STEERING WHEEL STAYED STUCK IN THE TURNED POSITION. MY TRUCK FELT LIKE IT WAS GOING TO FLIP AND THE WHEELS WOULD NOT STRAIGHTEN OUT UNTIL I TURNED THEM BACK. IT HAS ALSO CAUSED MY TRUCK TO PUT UP WARNING ABOUT MY STABILITY CONTROL. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME A NUMBER OF TIMES AND SEEMS TO HAPPEN WHEN IT IS WARM OUTSIDE. I FEEL THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED AT BECAUSE IT COULD BE A SERIOUS RISK OF ROLLING OVER. *TR
VEHICLE UPON START HAS HAD HARD OR NO BRAKES. VEHICLE IS DIFFICULT TO STOP OR CONTROL AT LOW SPEEDS UPON STARTING VEHICLE. BEEN TOLD BY DEALER IT IS FAULTY VACUUM ASSIST PUMP. PARTS NOT AVAILABLE AND TOLD NO RECALL/FIX IS AVAILABLE TO CONSUMER WITHOUT PAYING 750+ DOLLARS. HAPPENS ROUTINELY. OCCURS ALMOST DAILY. BEEN GOING ON FOR ALMOST ONE YEAR. WORRIED ABOUT PULLING OUT OF MY GARAGE AND HAVE RESORTED TO PARKING ON STREET TO ENSURE CONTROL OF VEHICLE UPON STARTING. *TR
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE AND PASS SLOWER TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY, MY 2011 F150 (4X4, ECOBOOST) TRUCK LOST ALMOST ALL ENGINE POWER, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED TO BLINK, AND THE ENTIRE TRUCK SHOOK VIOLENTLY. DUE TO THE TRUCK'S SUDDEN DECELERATION WITHOUT BRAKE LIGHTS SIGNALING IT, ONCOMING TRAFFIC (INCLUDING A LARGE TRACTOR/TRAILER) APPROACHED FROM BEHIND RAPIDLY AND EVERYONE HAD TO BRAKE ABRUPTLY TO AVOID A COLLISION. I TURNED ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS, PULLED THE TRUCK TO THE RIGHT SHOULDER AND SAT THERE FOR A FEW MINUTES WHILE I CALLED WORK TO INFORM THEM THAT I WOULD LIKELY HAVE TO WAIT FOR A TOW TRUCK AND BE DELAYED. DURING THAT CALL, THE ENGINE LIGHT STOPPED BLINKING AND THE TRUCK BEGAN RUNNING NORMALLY AGAIN. I REENTERED THE HIGHWAY WHEN TRAFFIC WAS CLEAR AND THE TRUCK PROCEEDED TO RUN NORMALLY UNTIL I REACHED MY WORKPLACE (ROUGHLY 2-3 MORE MILES ON THE HIGHWAY AND ABOUT 5 MILES THROUGH THE CITY). A LESS SEVERE INSTANCE OF THIS OCCURRED MONTHS BEFORE. IN THAT CASE, THERE WAS A SHORT POWER LAG UPON ATTEMPTED ACCELERATION, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BLINKED 2-3 TIMES AND THEN STOPPED BLINKING AND THE TRUCK DID NOT SHAKE AT ALL. THE WHOLE EPISODE DISAPPEARED AS QUICKLY AS IT APPEARED AFTER LETTING OFF THE ACCELERATOR FOR A SECOND OR TWO. I BELIEVED IT WAS A ONE-OFF THING. AFTER TODAY'S MUCH MORE SEVERE EPISODE, IT IS CLEARLY NOT A ONE-OFF AND OBVIOUSLY HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE AN UNSAFE SITUATION. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH OR HIGHER AND MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
LUCKILY, THERE WAS NOT AN INCIDENT IN MY CASE. I HAD A REAR SLIDING WINDOW SWITCH REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. I ALSO HAD AN OIL CHANGE AND MY BATTERY TERMINALS CLEANED BY THE DEALERS SERVICE DEPARTMENT. WHEN I WENT TO PICK UP MY VEHICLE AND BEGAN TO DRIVE OFF, I NOTICED A WARNING DISPLAYING THE MESSAGE "SERVICE ADVANCETRAC". I THEN LEFT THE VEHICLE WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AGAIN. WHEN THE SERVICE ADVISOR CONTACTED ME TO TELL ME WHAT THE TECHNICIANS DIAGNOSED, HE SAID THAT THE TRUCK NEEDED A NEW ELECTRIC STEERING RACK. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT THIS PART IS ON NATIONAL BACKORDER. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, I FOUND THAT THIS IS A VITAL PART IN STEERING FUNCTIONALITY. I ALSO READ THAT IF THIS PART FAILS WHILE YOU ARE DRIVING, THERE IS A SERIOUS RISK OF ACCIDENT. I'M THANKFUL THAT MY TRUCK WASN'T MOVING WHEN THIS STEERING RACK WENT BAD. BUT IT CONCERNS ME THAT SO MANY FORD OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO THEM AND THAT THIS IS NOT A RECALL. I ALSO THINK THAT IF THIS PART IS ON NATIONAL BACKORDER, THERE MUST BE MANY PEOPLE WHO ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE AS WELL. THIS IS A FORD ECOBOOST TRUCK THAT IS TURBOCHARGED. DURING A HEAVY RAIN ON INTERSTATE 95 I TRIED TO ACCELERATE FROM ABOUT 5 MPH AND THE TRUCK LOST POWER AND BARELY MOVED. AFTER ABOUT 30 SECONDS THE TRUCK REGAINED POWER AND MOVED AHEAD. THERE WERE 2 OTHER INSTANCES ON THIS TRIP ALSO DURING RAIN.. THE SECOND TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. UPON RETURNING HOME I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND OUT I AM NOT ALONE IN THIS. THERE HAVE BEEN 3 TSB'S TO EFFECT A REPAIR. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER. THE ENGINE CODE WAS A MISFIRE ON CYLINDER #6. TSB 13-08-01 WAS APPLIED AND I WAS BILLED $255.66. THIS PROBLEM NEEDS A RECALL AND REPAIRS MADE BEFORE SOMEONE IS BADLY HURT. I WAS NEARLY REAR ENDED ON THE INTERSTATE. THE PROBLEM IS HIGH HUMIDITY CONDENSES IN THE INTERCOOLER (CAC) OR CHARGE AIR COOLER AS FORD CALLS IT. THEN A SUDDEN ACCELERATION CAUSES THE CONDENSED WATER TO ENTER THE ENGINE GROUNDING OUT THE SPARK PLUGS ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ENGINE CAUSING A LOSS OF POWER AND STALL. THIS HAS ALSO BEEN KNOWN TO DAMAGE THE LEFT CATALYTIC CONVERTER. WHY MUST I PAY TO FIX A DESIGN FLAW? FORD NEEDS TO RECALL ALL OF THESE TRUCKS AND REPAIR THEM. SERVICE TECH AT DEALERSHIP WAS TEST DRIVING VEHICLE AFTER A DIFFERENT REPAIR. WHEN HE WENT TO STOP THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS HARD AS A ROCK AND THE TRUCK WOULD NOT STOP. HELLO, WE WISH TO FILE A COMPLAINT ON THE 3.5 L ECO BOOST ENGINE IN OUR 2011 F150. WE HAVE HAD NUMEROUS ISSUES OF SHUTTERING, LURCHING, "LAG", LOSS OF POWER/LACK OF RESPONSE. WE FIRST HAD THIS ISSUE PASSING A SEMI ON A 2 LANE HIGHWAY JULY 2014, NO THERE WAS NO FOG/RAIN. IT IMMEDIATELY SHUTTERED, SHOOK,LURCHED (COUGHED/SPUTTERED) LOOSING POWER AS WE WERE PASSING. WE MADE MANEUVERS TO GET TO THE SHOULDER WHERE IT STRUGGLED TO STAY ENGAGED. WE COULD HAVE BEEN HIT HEAD ON, REAR ENDED, SIDE-BROADED BY THE SEMI OR WORSE, A COMBINATION OF ALL 3. (NOT COVERED) HOWEVER THAT IS A SEPARATE "CARBON TRACKING" PLUG ISSUE, (THE NEXT "ISSUE" COULD BE THE IGNITION PLUGS FOWLING DUE TO CARBON TRACKING FROM THE MOISTURE ISSUE) THE PROBLEM IS NOT PLUGS, THE MAJOR PROBLEM IS MOISTURE! WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN JULY 2014. WE NOTICED AFTER BUYING IT THAT WHEN STARTING THE TRUCK, THE BRAKES ARE HARD AND NO STOPPING ABILITY. ONCE YOU PUMP IT A COUPLE OF TIMES AND GO TO DRIVE THE BRAKES WORK NORMALLY. WE TALKED TO PEOPLE IN GENERAL AND SAID SOME VEHICLES ARE PRONE TO THAT ISSUE WHEN STARTING AND THAT IT'S NOT A BIG DEAL. IF YOU HAPPEN TO BE ON A GRADE WHEN THIS HAPPENS, YOU DO DRIFT UNTIL PRESSURE IS BUILT UP. I DID SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND FOUND A VIDEO THAT EXPLAINS THE ISSUE VERY WELL. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND A SIMPLE BUT COSTLY FIX. IT HAS AN ELECTRIC BRAKE PUMP INSTEAD OF A MECHANICAL ONE AND SEIZES UP WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PARKED FOR PROLONGED AMOUNTS OF TIME. WE TOOK THE TRUCK TO FORD TO HAVE SOME WORK DONE WHEN THE MECHANIC BROUGHT UP THE BRAKE PUMP AND SAID THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS IS INCASE THE PUMP WOULD FULLY GO OUT. IT IS OVER A $700 FIX WITH LABOR AND IS SOMETHING THAT WAS FAULTY IN THE ENGINEERING OF THE TRUCK MODEL AND PRODUCES A SAFETY RISK FOR THE DRIVER AND OTHERS IN THE SURROUNDING AREA. AS I WAS MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY, I HAD TO ACCELERATE TO AVOID A SEMI WHO WAS APPROACHING IN THE RIGHT LANE. I HARD ACCELERATED, BUT THE TRUCK STARTED SHAKING AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING. I HAD LOST ALL ACCELERATION AND WAS FORCED TO PUT MY FLASHERS ON AND MERGE TO THE BREAK-DOWN LANE TO AVOID BEING RUN COMPLETELY OFF THE HIGHWAY. THE TRUCK SHOOK VIOLENTLY WHILE IN 6TH GEAR AND I HAD TO MANUALLY SHIFT TO 5TH GEAR TO STOP THE TRUCK FROM VIBRATING APART. LESS THAN 10 MINUTES LATER (WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IN 5TH GEAR) THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED OFF AND THE TRUCK WAS ABLE TO BE SHIFTED BACK INTO 6TH WITHOUT ANY VIBRATION. THIS LACK OF ACCELERATION IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND HAS HAPPENED MORE TIMES THAN I CAN COUNT. ABOVE WAS ONLY AN EXPLANATION OF THE LAST OCCURRENCE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER, CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, AND THE REAR WHEELS LOCKED UP. IN ADDITION, WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. IN ADDITION, THE STEERING WHEEL COMPLETELY SEIZED AND THE RPMS INCREASED. MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURES RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V248000 (POWER TRAIN); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PASS A SLOWER VEHICLE ON A TWO LANE ROAD, MY TRUCK LOST ALL POWER AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN BLINKING. I WAS IN THE ON-COMING TRAVEL LANE ADJACENT TO THE VEHICLE I WAS PASSING WHEN THE INCIDENT OCCURRED. THE INCIDENT NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AS THE VEHICLE I WAS PASSING SLOWED DOWN WHEN I LOST POWER AN I WAS UNABLE TO IMMEDIATELY GET OVER. I COASTED WITH A ROUGH RUNNING ENGINE TO THE SHOULDER AND SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. WHEN I RESTARTED IT A FEW MINUTES LATER IT RAN A LITTLE ROUGH AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS IS A KNOW ISSUE FOR THIS MAKE MODEL WITH THE ECOBOOST ENGINE. THE FORD DEALERSHIP, WHILE HAVING A TSB IN PLACE FOR THE ISSUE, DID NOT NOTIFY ME OF THE ISSUE AND WILL NOT COVER THE COST OF THE RECOMMENDED SERVICE UNDER EITHER THE POWER-TRAIN WARRANTY OR MY FORD EXTENDED WARRANTY (BUMPER-TO-BUMPER HAS EXPIRED). THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL FROM FORD TO FIX THESE ISSUES AND THEY APPARENTLY WILL NOT TAKE THE INITIATIVE TO DO SO ON THEIR OWN. THE F150 IS COMPANY TRUCK FOR MY BUSINESS. I WAS BACKING IN TO MY SHOP BUILDING AND IT SEEMED LIKE I LOST MY BRAKES . BRAKE PEDAL WOULD NOT PUSH DOWN. CAME TO STOP BEFORE HITTING ANYTHING IN SHOP. HAD REPAIR AT A PRIVATE GARAGE. BRAKE VACUUM PUMP FAILED.
DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 75 MPH FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME IN HIGH HUMIDITY. PUSHED THE PEDAL DOWN TO PASS A COUPLE TRUCKS GOING UP A MOUNTAIN AND THE ENGINE BEGAN MISFIRING AND STUTTERING. THERE WAS LOSS OF POWER AND VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE WITH FLASHING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. FAILED TO PASSED THE TRUCKS CAUSING A DANGEROUS CONDITION BY PRODUCING UNEXPECTED RESULTS. THIS PROBLEM IS DETAILED IN FORD'S TSB 13-8-1. I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A DANGEROUS CONDITION AND A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED FOR THIS CONDITION. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH PIRELLI TIRE SCORPION STR TIRES, TIRE SIZE 275/55/20. (NA) THE DOT NUMBER WAS XL4BJ9248610. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, A CLICKING AND POPPING NOISED EMITTED OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS MERGED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE TIRE EXPLODED. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED WITH A SPARE TIRE. ALSO, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE OTHER THREE TIRES ON THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED SEVERE TREAD SEPARATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. HOWEVER, THE DEFECTIVE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,434 OF THE VEHICLE AND TIRES.
I OWN A 2011 F150 4X4 SUPERCREW ECOBOOST, THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I'VE HAD THIS PROBLEM. I WAS PULLING A TRAILER WEIGHT APPROX 2500LBS ON THE HIGHWAY GOING UP HILL FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. MY TRUCK LOSS ALL POWER AND I BARLEY MADE IT TO THE TOP OF THE HILL. I PULLED OVER CHECKED OUT THE TRUCK AND THE PROBLEM DISAPPEARED. THE 1ST TIME THIS HAPPENED I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY DID THE TSB, REPLACED ALL SPARK PLUGS AND REPLACE ONE IGNITION COIL. COST AROUND $800 BUT THE PROBLEM STILL HAPPENS, I'M AFRAID TO PUT ANY LOAD ON THE ENGINE. THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH CONDENSATION IN THE INTER COOLER THAT CAUSES A MISS FIRE BUT FORD WILL NOT ADDRESS THE PROBLEM. AROUND JUNE OF 2014, I NOTED GRINDING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT WHEELS. I TOOK IT TO A REPAIR FACILITY AND HAD IT INSPECTED. THE FRONT OUTER BRAKE PADS ON BOTH WHEELS SHOWED FAIRLY NORMAL WEAR WITH ABOUT 3/8"-1/2" OF PAD REMAINING ON EACH PAD. THE INBOARD PAD ON BOTH WHEELS WERE WORN DOWN TO BARE METAL AND ALMOST SEIZED INTO THE INBOARD SIDE OF BOTH ROTORS. I HAD THE FACILITY REPLACE BOTH FRONT ROTORS AND PADS, BUT THE SERVICE TECH HAD TO CLEAN AND LUBE BOTH CALIPERS AS NEITHER WAS FREELY SLIDING. I NOTIFIED THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THIS WAS NORMAL WEAR, BUT ALSO TOLD THE CALIPER PINS HAVE TO BE LUBRICATED ON A REGULAR BASIS TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN. I'VE CHECKED THE FORD MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE AND NOWHERE DO THEY RECOMMEND HAVING TO LUBRICATE THE CALIPER PINS ON A REGULAR SCHEDULE. MY CONCERN IS THIS WILL OCCUR AGAIN AS I HAVE NOTED A SERVICE BULLETIN ON YOUR WEBSITE REGARDING BINDING CALIPERS, ALTHOUGH THE SELLING DEALER PASSES THIS OFF AS A NON-ISSUE FOR THE BRAKES AND PART OF NORMAL WEAR. I'VE TALKED TO FORD CUSTOMER SUPPORT, BUT THEY DIDN'T SEEM TO CONCERNED ABOUT THE PROBLEM.
AS I WAS MERGING ONTO HIGHWAY 694 NORTH, I HAD TO ACCELERATE BECAUSE OF A SEMI APPROACHING ME FROM BEHIND, I GAVE THE TRUCK FULL THROTTLE BUT THE TRUCK STARTED SHAKING AND THE ENGINE FELT LIKE IT QUIT OR JUST HAD NO POWER LEFT. THE TRUCK STRUGGLED TO REACH 55MPH, AND WITHIN SECONDS I ALMOST GOT REAR-ENDED AND ALMOST RAN OFF THE HIGHWAY, DO TO THE FACT THAT MY TRUCK HAD NO POWER. AFTER I MERGED ONTO THE HIGHWAY THE TRUCK SHOOK VIOLENTLY FOR ABOUT 3 MILES WHILE MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS FLASHING. DURING THIS TIME IT FELT AS THOUGH MY TRUCK HAD LOST 50% OF ITS POWER. *TR

WHEN ACCELERATING AND APPROACHING FREEWAY SPEED, ENGINE STUMBLED, PREVENTING ACCELERATION. I LET OFF THE ACCELERATOR AND PROBLEM DIDN'T OCCUR AGAIN. I REPORTED THIS TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY STATED THAT SINCE THE VEHICLE DID NOT REGISTER A CODE THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I HAVE SINCE HAD THIS HAPPEN AGAIN ON JULY 17 & 18, 2015, BUT THIS TIME THE ENGINE LIGHT DID COME ON, SO I'M ASSUMING IT DID REGISTER A CODE. ON JULY 17, IT WAS A CLEAR DRY DAY, THE FOLLOWING DAY IT HAPPENED AGAIN, BUT IT WAS RAINING ALL DAY. ONCE ON THE FREEWAY, WHENEVER I STEPPED ON THE ACCELERATOR, EVEN WHEN AT FREEWAY SPEED, THE ENGINE WOULD STUMBLE AND BARELY ACCELERATE. I'VE CONTACTED THE DEALER AND SCHEDULED AN INSPECTION FOR JULY 29, 2015. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 47000 MILES. I'VE TALKED TO FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND I AM BEING TOLD THIS IS NOT A WARRANTY REPAIR, BUT I AM SEEING A NUMBER OF SERVICE BULLETINS BEING ISSUED DESCRIBING THIS EXACT PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THIS IS A DEFECT IN DESIGN AND SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY.
2011 F150, 3.5L ECOBOOST MOTOR, VEHICLE SHUDDERS AND LOSES POWER DURING ACCELERATION. DANGEROUS TO TRY AND PASS VEHICLES OR EVEN CHANGE LANES TO PULL OVER AS THERE IS POWER LOSS FROM ENGINE. TAKEN TO DEALER AND THEY PERFORMED FORD TSB 13-08-01. THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THE ENGINE MISFIRE CONTINUED, AFTER RETURNING TO DEALER THE VEHICLE SHOWED CODE RELATED TO SAME TSB AFTER IT HAD BEEN APPLIED. DEALER CLEARED CODE. I HAVE SINCE REPLACED SPARK PLUGS AND SO FAR HAS NOT RECURRED. I HAVE SEEN QUITE A FEW REPORTS OF THIS SAME ISSUES ON MANY FORD F150 FORUMS. I WOULD SAY FORD REALLY NEEDS TO LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM. *TR
I WENT TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE AND THE ENGINE BOGGED WITH ALL LOSS OF POWER. IT WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND ENGINE SHUDDERED AND WOULD NOT REGAIN POWER UNTIL I STOPPED THE TRUCK AND SHUT IT OFF THEN RE-STARTED IT. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF AND WHEN I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY ISSUES WHEN THE DIAGNOSTICS WERE RUN. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. TRUCK IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER AND I AM WAITING TO HEAR THEIR FINDINGS. *TR
THE ENGINE WILL START TO MISS BADLY AND THAN GO DEAD WHEN PASSING THIS IS DANGEROUS.. THERE WAS AN INVESTIGATION BY YOU IN MAY 2013 BUT YOU STOPPED IT IN 14 BECAUSE FORD SAID THEY HAD A FIX FOR THE PROBLEM.. THE PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED AND THIS IS DANGEROUS. MY TRUCK HAS BEEN TO FORD 4 TIMES NOW AND THEY KEEP CHANGING A COIL OR SPARK PLUG THEY SAY. THE FIRST TIME THEY PUT SOME KIND OF DEFLECTOR ON THE CHARGE AIR COOLER. MY TRUCK WILL BE OUT OF WARRANTY IN 1200 MILES AND I DON'T WANT TO GET A PROBLEM. I JOINED A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WITH GRANT &EISENHOFF. I UNDERSTAND THAT THERE ARE 500,000 FORD TRUCK F150 V6 ECO BOOST FROM 2011,12 AND 13 ENGINES AFFECTED. WHY WOULD YOU DROP AN INVESTIGATION JUST BECAUSE FORD SAID THEY HAVE THE PROBLEM FIXED.. I EXPERIENCED LACK OF ACCELERATION, SPUTTERING, SHAKING FROM THE VEHICLE WHILE TRYING TO PASS ON A 2 LANE RURAL HIGHWAY. THIS IS SECOND EVENT OF THIS NATURE AND THE FIRST SINCE HAVING FORD MAKE CERTAIN REPAIRS TO ENGINE TO CORRECT THIS ISSUE. I HAVE THE V-6 ECO BOOST ENGINE. I AM UNHAPPY THAT THIS ENGINE ENCOUNTERS THIS PROBLEM AND IT COULD RESULT IN A WRECK WITH LOSS OF LIFE. THIS SHOULD BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY! *TR
