Vehicle shifts into 1st gear while truck is moving and will not shift tkk ok any other gears. Known issue at dealership, but says it’s out of warranty. If less than 10 years or 150000 miles, they had a recall providing parts and labor. If a vehicle going 60 mph downshifted into 1st gear, it’s a safety issue and in my opinion should not have a time/mileage limitations. Thank you

I own a 2011 Ford f-150 4x4. The VIN I entered should provide any further information you need. This vehicle is equipped with electronic power assist steering. This vehicle has experienced stiff return of steering in left turns at approximately 45-50MPH. This vehicle has about 156,00 miles on it. This steering difficulty has existed for 4-5 years that I have owned the vehicle. Recently, the steering stared to make loud screeching noises in both left and right turns. This was accompanied by stiff steering as if the power assist was not functional. The power assist failed completely after a weekend vacation. I had to have the steering replaced at a cost of $2552.12. I have never had the power steering fail on any other vehicle I have owned, no matter what the mileage. I have read that many other owners of this year and make have experienced the same problem. Good thing I was strong enough to control the vehicle without the power assist. This could have been very serious problem!

The glue that holds the plastic covers on the aluminum wheels has failed and two of the plastic covers have fallen off. The covers and wheels are available for inspection. The one cover fell off while driving down a local main road in our city. When I saw it fall off, I returned to the area where it was laying in the street to retrieve it. Before retrieving it I saw some cars swerve to miss it and at least one run it over. If this happened on the freeway at higher speeds who knows what could have occurred and therefore I have since removed the remaining two covers that were still attached. One seemed rather loose and was likely to fall off sooner than latter and other was still adhered rather well. No inspection occurred by the manufacturer as this appears to be a common problem with these plastic covers. To reattach them to the wheels it appears that the gluing system is proprietary. No warning lamps or messages present.

A Recall Repair (19S07) was performed on 4/24/2023 at which time the truck had 161711 miles. Prior to the Recall Repair I had not experienced any issues at all. I had only brought the truck into Ford Service for a different repair at which time they took care of the Recall (19S07). On 7/9/2023 the truck would not start (No Crank/No Start) A Tow Truck Service was called at which time confirming that the battery was in good condition, however at the time he came, the truck was able to start. Later that week, we experienced this strange issue again (intermittent no crank) and the truck was driven into a local service center where no service codes were showing because the truck was in working condition. Out of concern for the safety of the future reliability of this intermittent starting, the mechanic suggested we consider changing the batter cables, and felt considering the age of the truck that we could consider changing the starter. With concern, I decided to move forward with those repairs. Two days after the new battery cables and a new starter was placed, the truck once again would not start. I had the truck towed back to this mechanic where he was then able to confirm it was an issue with the Transmission Lead Frames communication and that the truck thinks it is in park. I then called the Ford Service Department where the Transmission Lead Frame Recall was performed to report the issue and was told that indeed the recall repair/or issues with the recall could be the issue, so I had the truck towed back to them where they confirmed the issue and reported that this issues were considered part of the recall issue but now that my truck was out of the mileage warranty, I would have to pay for the repairs. The truck had 161711 miles when the original recall was performed. It had 167174 miles when the new repairs were done. There should be a warranty on the recall repair work performed. I have already paid for the repairs. Can you help me?

fuse 27 is a safety issue when it fails on the road in traffic. so, you want to wait till someone dies. do the right thing and force ford to issue safety recall. 1 death is to much. no issue with my truck as of now. i don't want issues with this ongoing problem.
Electronic Power Steering. Power Steering Assist Fault. Lost complete control of Steering going around a corner at highway speeds.

While driving in my 2011 f150 the electric power steering assist has went out intermittently during a turn causing the steering wheel to lock up or get very tight which has led to curb hits and near miss collisions. No warning indicators have ever come on during or after this has happened. I took ut to a shop and they could find no history of codes releated to steering or any failures during test drive or shop visit. This still continues to happen daily. Ford dealer recommended i replace entire steering systems at a cost of over $3000 without giving me a specific component failure.
We took our vehicle to Woodhouse Ford in Omaha, NE (72nd St Location) for the 19S07-6R80 Sudden Transmission Downshift-Powertrain Control Module Programming Recall. It was supposedly fixed with a software update. Not long after we experienced the PRNDL Illumination and Backup Lamp Activation (Recall 12C23) Symptom. We were told, while this is a known issue and a recall for other 2011 Ford F-150s, your vehicle’s specific VIN is not “officially in the recall”. Thus, your bill is $867.26 and $636.57 for the associated repairs; transmission leadframe, the backing light issue, and an associated parasitic leak. We pay, we get the vehicle back with no resolution of the parasitic leak and now a backing camera that no longer works (Blue Screen)…was working just fine prior. We now learn that the backing camera is a recall in other Fords…but not OUR VIN. Woodhouse quotes another $900 (New Backup Camera) and another $450 for the unresolved parasitic leak—which they had previously declared was resultant the leadframe malfunction.
The below was sent to me, It is difficult for me to understand why I was not told the recall expired in 2016 when I made the appointment (6-6-23) and when I handed my property over (6-12-23) to this dealership. Thank you for the diagnostic, it was very helpful, but, I still run the danger of crashing due to my breaks not pressing down when the pump goes out and the option to get FORD to fix it expired in 2016, My VIN is registered and I did not get a notice, I would gladly give this shop the $$ to fix the 2016 recall that expired. Now, that business will go to your competitor. If you were not aware of the expiration, I get that, but, you are a shop specifically designed for my Ford, again, thank you for the diagnostic but the way it was done I can't trust this shop or get other females to come there. Keep Jeff, do not run him off, his soul and manners feel safe and trusting, he treated me very well and I know he did what he was told to do by whoever was in charge. There is no need to contact me moving forward, but, this very email will be submitted to all the proper authorities (NHTSA.GOV, FTC.GOV, FORD.COM) when I hold FORD and others accountable. I work very hard for the life I have grown accustomed to. Truck transmission shifted into 1st dear from 4th while driving on a large 4-lane road in the middle of traffic while i was going approx 35 mph. When the downshift happened the tired locked up and the rear end slid sideways. I was able to regain control; however, as I stepped on the accellerator, the truck bogged down for a few seconds before reving to high RPMs and shifting roughly and then went into a mode that only allowed the truck to move between 3rd and 5th gears.

While I am driving the vehicle at the posted speed limit it will suddenly down shift into first gear. This causes the vehicle to decelerate quickly and unexpectedly. Fortunately this has happened while driving in the city at 30mph and not while I was driving on the freeway at 70mph as it may have caused a loss of control. The vehicle is not being operated at this time due to malfunction happening several times. I contacted Ford and they stated there was a recall but my vehicle exceeded the mileage limit. I strongly believe that this is a safety issue as it can cause loss of control.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the transmission unintendedly downshifted to first gear with the transmission warning light illuminated. In addition, the vehicle hesitated while depressing the accelerator pedal soon after restarting the engine. The contact stated that the RPM's revved to 3,000 or 4,000 RPM while driving at slow speeds. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and remained in the dealer possession for over a month. The dealer later diagnosed the vehicle with a defective timing chain. The timing chain was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 155,000.
I was driving my ford f150 ecoboost 3.5 in the highway I was driving arounf 65 to 70 miles per hours and my truck unexpectedly downshift from 6 gear to first gear, I almost cause an accident cause behind me was another car that almost hit my car on the back just because this problem with the transmission. This is the second time that happen to me driving this car, sometimes I dont fell constable divining like that, I bring the car to the dealer and they said that its no recall for this matter on my truck. I just want to report this matter to some body. This its a serious matter that Ford Dealer should take care.
The transmission is downshifting during highway driving causing an abrupt decrease in speed without warning. This issue causes an unsafe condition while operating the vehicle to myself and others around me. Although Ford motor company is aware of the issue, they have not initiated a recall because of it.
The contact owns a 2011 Ford F-150. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the service vehicle warning light and the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in TSB: 19N01 because the code was not the code stated in the TSB. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to file a complaint with the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 217,000.
Sorry it’s been a few days since I have been able to report the still ongoing issue regarding my truck. 6 times on Saturday my truck had extremely erratic behavior. It’s getting progressively worse and I continuously have to speed above the speed limit in order to get my vehicle to shift. I have been trying not to drive it as I know the hard shifts and high rpm’s are causing additional damage that I’ll likely be responsible for. I’m hopping to hear something back soon as I am rallying up members of local forums to whim filing complaints so we can get Ford to resolve this instead on continuing to put a bandaid on it. I would upload videos however your format doesn’t allow me to upload videos of the incidents.
