I WAS DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED, AND ACCELERATED RAPIDLY TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF A MERGING CAR. THE TRUCK SHOOK VIOLENTLY AND LOST POWER. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NO "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" OR ANY OTHER INDICATOR OF A PROBLEM DURING THE INCIDENT, OR AFTER RESTARTING THE TRUCK. WHEN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, THEY INDICATED THAT THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. I HAVE DRIVEN THE TRUCK SINCE THEN WONDERING IF IT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN. NOW I SEE THAT OTHERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE. KISTLER FORD IN TOLEDO, OHIO WILL HAVE A RECORD OF THIS SERVICE APPOINTMENT ON 10-21-11, AS I HAVE A COPY OF THE SERVICE DOCUMENT STATING THE ABOVE. ALTHOUGH I HAVE NO WAY TO PROVE IT, THE TRUCK HAS ALSO SEEMED TO HAVE LESS POWER SINCE THIS INCIDENT. *TR
WHILE BRAKING TO ENTER RIGHT HAND TURN IN 2011 SUPER CREW FX2 F150 FUEL SLOSHED CAUSING ENGINE TO SEIZE AND POWER STEERING TO SHUT OFF REQUIRING HARD BREAK AFTER LOSS OF CONTROL OF VEHICLE ALONG WITH MOVEMENT OF THE VEHICLE TO LEVEL GROUND AND RESTART OF ENGINE. FUEL LEVEL AT TIME OF INCIDENT WAS APRX 5.3 GALLONS OR APRX 1/5 OF A 26 GALLON TANK. FIRST INCIDENT AT 600 MILES, MULTIPLE INCIDENTS AT 1600 MILES, 2100 MILES, 2500, 2800, AND 3000 MILES. INCIDENT ALSO OCCURS WHILE NOSE DOWN ON ANYTHING ABOVE A 0% GRADIENT. ALSO CAUSES LOSS OF CONTROL OF VEHICLE. FORD ADVISES THAT THIS IS A KNOWN SAFETY CONCERN BUT THERE IS NO CORRECTION, ADVISE WAS TO ALWAYS KEEP FUEL LEVELS ABOVE QUARTER TANK AT ALL TIMES PER ADVISE OF REGIONAL FORD SERVICE MANAGER AND TOWN EAST FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT. ADVISED THAT FUEL LEVEL INDICATOR CAN'T BE RELIED ON BELOW THIS LEVEL (QUARTER TANK) ALSO ADVISED BY FORD THAT THE SAFEST LEVEL TO MAINTAIN FUEL LEVEL AT WAS HALF TANK. THIS FAILURE DOES HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO AND FREQUENTLY DOES CAUSE LOSS OF CONTROL OF VEHICLE. FORD ALSO ADVISES THAT THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH ALL 2011 F150'S AND SHOULD BE TREATED AS NORMAL. VEHICLE LOST POWER WHILE ACCELERATING THREE TIMES TWO TIMES IT WAS RAINING. ENGINE SHOOK ACTED LIKE IT WAS RUNNING ON 5 CYL INSTEAD OF 6. ENGINE IS 3.5 ECOBOST. ONE TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON TWO TIMES IT DID NOT. I SENT FORD AN EMAIL ON 12/15/11 AND THEY HAD ME GO TO MY LOCAL DEALER. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THERE WAS NO CODE IN THE COMPUTER. FORD WAS PROMPT IN ANSWERING MY EMAIL. I UNDERSTAND THAT NHTSA IS LOOKING AT THE PROBLEM AND WANTED YOU TO HAVE THE INFORMATION. *TR
SINCE NEW, THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD AN ISSUE WITH A LOSS OF POWER WHEN ACCELERATING HARD. THE LATEST INCIDENT, THIS PAST OCTOBER, OCCURRED AT APPROXIMATELY 80000 MILES. PLUGS WERE BAD PREMATURELY AND FOUND THAT IT WAS CAUSED BY WATER BUILD UP IN A CAC FOR THE TURBO CHARGERS AND THERE WAS A TSB. I WAS PASSING A CAR AND LOST POWER ALMOST CREATING AN ACCIDENT. THIS TIME, FORTUNATELY, A LIGHT STAYED ON SO THEY COULD DIAGNOSE THE ISSUE. THE DEALER DID AN UPDATE PER THE TSB BUT FORD REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE UPDATE DUE TO THE MILES EVEN THOUGH THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIMES BEFORE THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. I AM DISAPPOINTED THAT THE NHTSA DID NOT MAKE THE RECALL MANDATORY IN THEIR PREVIOUS INVESTIGATION AS I BELIEVE WATER BEING INJECTED INTO AN ENGINE CAUSING A POWER LOSS AT A TIME POWER IS CALLED UPON IS DANGEROUS. *TR
CONSOLE LID ASSOCIATED WITH THE SPLIT BENCH SEAT. LATCH, WHICH IS PLASTIC, HAS BROKEN OFF TWICE. ALTHOUGH FIXED BY WARRANTY, I CAN SEE WHERE THIS WILL BE A CONTINUING PROBLEM UNTIL THE PLASTIC IS REPLACED WITH METAL. *TR
Purchased TRUCK at Gus Machado of Kendal Mia Fl. Informed dealership of downshifting transmission issues, I was told "there's No recall on my vehicle ", its normal that new truck has as breaking in period. AT 10,000 miles- Drove to Gus dealership for TRANSMISSION ISSUES, NO RESOLVE -AT 70,679 miles - 01/11/17 Drove AGAIN to Gus dealership, for severe engine and transmission issues. Dealership noted severe engine problems. Insurance.& warranty rep. and Ford rep. arrived at dealership and AGREED that ORIGINAL engine was BAD. Insurance would cover repair cost & Engine was replaced. R/O [XXX]-AT 71,429 miles 04/18/17, Drove to Gus Dealership noted my Transmission concerns, found driveshaft to be slipping and issues addressed. Transmission continues to date to be problematic. I researched ford forums and found that several ford owners also have similar Transmission Issues and FORD has recalls on Transmission, ONLY MY VIN ISN'T ON recall R/O [XXX]- 93,868 miles 05/28/19 Drove to Bill Jarrett FOR RECALL 19N01, In less than 15 minutes truck was returned INFORMED COMPUTER had to be reprogrammed. 11/19 I returned to Miami for surgery &treatment at the Miami VA. Truck continued to downshift, so I went into Gus dealership and they explained the recall fix. I was told there are no recall on transmission and eventually Transmission would streamline. AT 156,000 miles- Since reprograming truck has been double downshifting/bucking in first gear, which I have been stating to Ford dealership since purchase IS A SAFETY CONCERN. To date NO LIGHTS ON DASH DISPLAYS OF Transmission, but BUCKING/DOWNSHIFTING CONTINUES (A SAFTY CONCERN). 05/17/24, I called Ford and stated my concerns. I was told to go into dealership to have it checked. 05/18/24 went to Bill Jarrett where my concerns was noted. They Informed that there is NO RECALL on my truck and I would have to purchase a new transmission for$ 7,000.00. VEHICLE STALLS OUT LIKE IT IS STARVING FOR FUEL WHEN YOU NEED TO ACCELERATE. IT HAS STALLED OUT WHEN PASSING OTHER VEHICLES AND WHEN ENTERING HEAVY TRAFFIC ON INTERSTATES. AS OF JULY 31, 2014, THE TRUCK HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AT LEAST 4 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. HOWEVER, I CONTINUE TO HAVE THE PROBLEM. *TR
DRIVERS SIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR VIBRATES EXCESSIVELY WHEN RADIO IS LOUD OR WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. MAKES HEADLIGHTS APPEAR BLURRY OR FLASHING LIKE EMERGENCY VEHICLE AT NIGHT. DEALER SAID FORD WOULD NOT PAY FOR NEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY. HAVE HAD THEM LOOK INTO IT TWICE. UPGRADING THE COMPLAINT TO THE NEXT LEVEL WITH FORD.
I RENTED A FORD PICKUP TRUCK FROM U-HAUL, AND I FEEL THAT THE AUTOMATIC LIGHTING CONTROLS ON IT ARE A SAFETY ISSUE. AT NIGHT, WHEN YOU OPEN THE DRIVER'S DOOR, THE DASHBOARD ILLUMINATION (SPEEDOMETER, OTHER GAUGES) COMES ON AUTOMATICALLY. WHEN YOU PUT IN THE KEY AND START THE ENGINE, THE DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS (WHITE LIGHTS ON THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK THAT ARE NOT AS INTENSE AS THE NORMAL LOW-BEAM HEADLAMPS) COME ON. THE DASHBOARD ILLUMINATION REMAINS ON AT ALL TIMES. *THE REAR RED RUNNING LAMPS/TAIL LAMPS DO NOT ILLUMINATE*, BUT THIS IS NOT OBVIOUS WHEN YOU ARE IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT. THE RESULT IS THAT IT IS POSSIBLE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT WITH SOME WHITE LIGHT COMING OUT OF THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, AND THE ABILITY TO READ THE SPEEDOMETER, BUT WITH *NO REAR LIGHTING*. I VERIFIED THAT THE PARKING/EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS FULLY OFF (AS THAT IS SOMETIMES AN INPUT TO THE DRLS), AND HAD A FRIEND STAND ON THE SIDE OF THE STREET AND OBSERVE AS I DROVE THE TRUCK, AND HE VERIFIED THAT I HAD NO RUNNING LIGHTS/TAIL LIGHTS ON THE BACK. THE BRAKE LAMPS OPERATED NORMALLY WHEN I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE, BUT THERE WAS NO RED LIGHT TO THE REAR UNLESS I WAS STEPPING ON THE BRAKE. ALL OF THE ABOVE WAS WITH THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH OFF. WHEN I CLICKED THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH TO THE FIRST POSITION, THE RUNNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED (ORANGE ON THE FRONT NEAR THE HEADLAMPS, RED IN THE REAR LAMP CLUSTERS.) WHEN I CLICKED IT TO THE SECOND POSITION, THE NORMAL LOW BEAMS CAME ON AT FULL INTENSITY. WHAT I THINK SHOULD BE DIFFERENT: EITHER THE AUTOMATIC LIGHTS/DRLS SHOULD ALSO TURN ON THE TAIL LIGHTS AT NIGHT, OR THERE SHOULD BE SOME INDICATION TO THE DRIVER THAT HE NEEDS TO TAKE ADDITIONAL ACTION (OPERATE THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH) IN ORDER TO HAVE TAIL LIGHTS. HAVING THE SPEEDOMETER ILLUMINATION GO OUT WHEN THE ENGINE IS STARTED MIGHT BE A GOOD CHOICE. *TR
THE 40/20/40 BUCKET SEAT IS UNSAFE DUE TO NON-ADJUSTABLY FOR HUMAN SIZE DIFFERENCES. THIS IS AN UN-ERGONOMIC SEAT AND WILL CAUSE LONG TERM JOINT AND SPINE ARTHRITIS PAIN. THESE BUCKET SEATS ARE MOLDED TO FIT A ONE SIZE FITS ALL. VERY UNHEALTHY. *TR ALSO THE DRIVERS SIDE HAND GRIP IS MISSING. THIS REQUIRES A FURTHER REACH TO THE STEERING WHEEL TO ENTER THE CAB. THE EXTENDED REACH CAUSES JOINT AND MUSCLE PAIN. AGAIN, ANOTHER UNSAFE ERGONOMIC PROBLEM. *TR
DURING PASSING OR PULLING OUT IN TRAFFIC THE TRUCK WILL LOOSE POWER AND MISFIRE THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL DO IT. THIS WEEKEND I WAS PULLING A CAMPER IN THE RAIN AND IT DONE IT FIVE TIMES YOU HAVE TO PULL OVER ON THE HIGHWAY AND START OVER WHEN THERE IS NO ONE IN SIGHT AND ALSO TRY STOPPING ON THE INTERSTATE IN THE RAIN AND PRAY NO ONE HITS YOU WITH YOUR FAMILY IN THE VEHICLE. AND THIS TRUCK HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER FIFTEEN TIMES FOR REPAIRS WITH ONLY 15,000 MILES ON IT. *TR
I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW FORD F150 TRUCK AND IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE STEERING ISSUES. STEERING BECOMES STUCK ON A TURN AND THEN GETTING OUT OF TURN RESULTS IN SWERVING. I ALMOST WAS IN TWO HEAD-ON ACCIDENTS IN THE NARROW ROADS AROUND WHERE I DRIVE. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE... FORD IS REPLACING STEERING GEARS BUT WHY ISN'T THIS A RECALL- THERE APPEARS TO BE A TSB ON THIS ISSUE, BUT THIS IS WAY MORE SERIOUS IN MY EXPERIENCE.. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED ASAP I AM VERY CONCERNED FOR OTHER POTENTIAL PEOPLE HAVING ACCIDENTS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2011 FORD F-150 4X4 WITH THE 3.5 LITER ECOBOOST ENGINE ON HWY 12 IN BUXTON, N.C. AND I WENT TO PASS A DRIVER, ACCELERATING FROM APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH TO 55 MPH AND THE ENGINE BOGGED AND LOST ALL POWER. I CONTINUED TO HIT THE GAS FOR ABOUT ANOTHER SECOND AND THE WHEELS THEN LOCKED UP AND THE TRUCK HAD SEVERAL VIOLENT JERKING MOTIONS BEFORE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN BACK ON FOR AN HOUR. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP (UNDER WARRANTY) AND THEY RESET THE COMPUTER. THE TRUCK SEEMED TO RUN OK IN THE TIME SINCE THEN, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE OCCASIONAL SHUDDERING DURING HARD ACCELERATION. NOW (DECEMBER 2013) THE TRUCK WILL NOT ACCELERATE AT HIGHER THAN 2,000 RPM WHEN IN 4TH, 5TH OR 6TH GEAR WITHOUT SHUDDERING AND CUTTING POWER TO THE ENGINE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEGINS TO FLASH DURING THIS AND THEN TURNS OFF. FORD IS NOT WILLING TO COVER THE REPAIR COSTS AND DESPITE SPEAKING TO SEVERAL CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES, NO ONE AT FORD HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THIS ISSUE HAPPENING WITH ANY OTHER VEHICLES. *TR
1. REAR DEFROST AND SIDE MIRROR DEFROST FUSE CONTINUALLY BLOWS. STARTED APPX 3 YRS AND AT 42,000 MILES 2. STEERING COLUMN LOCKS UP WHEN TURNING LEFT AT A SLOW SPEED IN CASES SUCH AS PULLING INTO OR OUT OF A DRIVEWAY OR PARKING SPOT OR MAKING A U TURN. AT HIGH SPEEDS ON THE INTERSTATE VEHICLE FLOATS TO THE LEFT AND IT IS HARD TO STRAIGHTEN, ALMOST AS IF THERE IS NO POWER ASSIST.(I UNDERSTAND FORD RECALLED SOME BUT NOT ALL 2011 F150'S FOR A STEERING RACK REPLACEMENT (STARTED AROUND 4 YRS/ 55,000 MILES 3. TRANSMISSION TAKES ABOUT 10 SECONDS TO ENGAGE INTO REVERSE UPON STARTING IN THE MORNING OR ON COLD DAYS WHEN VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED FOR MARE THEN SAY 5 HOURS STARTED AROUND 6 MONTHS/ 6,000 MILES.
A MUFFLED NOISE AND SHAKE IS CONSISTENT WHEN SWITCHING GEARS BETWEEN 3-4-5. ON A RECENT ROAD TRIP THERE WAS HESITATION WHEN I ACCELERATED TO 65MPH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RUNNING BOARDS WERE TOO NARROW AND SLIPPERY, CAUSING HER TO SLIP WHEN TRYING TO ENTER THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER IT RAINED OR SNOWED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. A DEALER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 11,860.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, HE ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE AND THE VEHICLE DECELERATED TO 10-15 MPH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE PERFORMED AS IF THE ENGINE WAS NOT RECEIVING ENOUGH FUEL. THE VEHICLE SLOWLY BEGAN TO ACCELERATE UP TO SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, HOWEVER NO FAILURE CODES WERE FOUND. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 41,000.
MY NEW FORD F150 HAS RECURRING ISSUES WITH THE SYNC SYSTEM. WE DRIVE DOWN THE ROAD, HANG UP THE BLUETOOTH CONNECTED PHONE AND THE RADIO WILL BEGIN PLAYING AT FULL VOLUME AND THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS STOP WORKING, OR YOU WILL BE STARTING THE CAR UP AND THE AIR CONDITIONING WILL BE FULL BLAST OR YOU WILL START THE CAR AND YOU WONT HAVE ANY RADIO/CD PLAYER/ MEDIA CONTROLS WORKING AT ALL. MY FORD REP SAYS THAT FORD DOES NOT HAVE A FIX AND THEY DON'T EXPECT ONE UNTIL MAYBE THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2011. *KB
DURING ROUTINE ROAD DRIVING, THE SERVICE ADVANCE-TRAC LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH. THIS WAS AT 7490 MILES. THE TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO BE SERVICED. THE RCM WAS REPLACED. AT 9130 MILES THE SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC WARNING LIGHT AGAIN CAME ON. THE TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO BE SERVICED AND THE ABS MODULE WAS UPDATED. THE TRUCK IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALER FOR THE SAME WARNING LIGHT. IT HAS BEEN THERE FOR A WEEK. THE MILEAGE WAS ABOUT 9400 MILES ON THE THIRD TRIP FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. I DRIVE SNOWY AND ICY ROADS IN THE WINTER AND FEEL THAT THE DISABLING OF MY ADVANCE TRAC SYSTEM COMPROMISES MY SAFETY ON SLIPPERY ROADS. *TR
DRIVING DOWN A TWO LANE ROAD IN THE EARLY EVENING, I WAS 3 OR 4 CARS BACK IN A LONG LINE OF OVER A DOZEN VEHICLES. WE WERE ALL STUCK BEHIND ONE SLOW MOVING VEHICLE. A CHANCE CAME UP TO PASS AND I PULLED INTO THE OTHER LANE. AFTER STEPPING ON THE THROTTLE THE TRUCK DEVELOPED A MISFIRE. IT LOST NEARLY ALL POWER AND BEGAN DECELERATING. IN THE TIME SINCE PULLING OUT TO PASS, A SEMI TRUCK HAD POPPED UP OVER AN UPCOMING HILL. BY THIS POINT, THE VEHICLES PREVIOUSLY BEHIND ME HAD MOVED FORWARD AND FILLED IN MY PLACE IN LINE. I BEGAN EVALUATING MY OPTIONS. I WAS NOW MOVING SLOWER THAN THE TRAFFIC IN THE RIGHT LANE, BUT THERE WEREN'T ANY OPENINGS TO MOVE BACK OVER. I EXAMINED THE SHOULDER ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD LOOKING FOR SAFE PLACES TO PULL OVER. THERE WERE NONE IN THE IMMEDIATE VICINITY. AFTER SEVERAL VERY TENSE SECONDS, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY REGAINED POWER. I HAD JUST ENOUGH TIME TO ACCELERATE TO AN OPENING IN THE RIGHT LANE AND GET BACK OVER. LIKELY CAUSE: CONDENSATION IN THE CHARGE AIR COOLER INGESTED INTO THE ENGINE UPON A CALL FOR POWER. SINCE THE FIRST INCIDENT THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL MORE TIMES. EVERY SINGLE TIME HAS BEEN AFTER CRUISING FOR SOME PERIOD AT LESS THAN HALF THROTTLE, FOLLOWED BY A SUDDEN ACCELERATION IN HUMID OR RAINY CONDITIONS. FORD CLAIMS TO BE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND WORKING ON A FIX. HOWEVER AFTER WAITING FOR OVER 8 MONTHS SINCE MY FIRST INCIDENT I'M STARTING TO HAVE MY DOUBTS. I HAVE HEARD REPORTS FROM NUMEROUS OTHER PEOPLE SAYING THIS EXACT SAME THING HAS HAPPENED TO THEM. SOME OF THOSE ARE OVER A YEAR OLD AND ARE STILL WAITING ON A FIX FROM FORD. BEING AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM I TRY NOT TO PUT MYSELF INTO A SITUATION THAT WILL REQUIRE THE SUDDEN APPLICATION OF POWER. HOWEVER I KNOW NO MATTER HOW WELL YOU PLAN, EVENTUALLY YOU FIND YOURSELF IN A BAD SITUATION. I JUST HOPE WHEN THAT OCCURS IT ISN'T A HUMID OR RAINY DAY. *TT
I HAVE BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH ENGINE NOISE RANGING FROM A DEEP HOWLING TO A SOUND LIKE A STEEL CHAIN BEING DRUG OVER AN ALUMINUM LADDER. I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE SYNC, MEMORY SEATS AND STEERING WHEEL, AUTO START, AND AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH HESITATION OR MISS FIRING IN THE ENGINE THAT CAUSE THE TRUCK TO LOOSE POWER ON ACCELERATION AND GO INTO LIMP MODE. I HAVE HAD THE TRUCK IN THE SHOP 13 TIMES AND GETTING READY TO GO BACK FOR THE 14TH TIME. I HAVE TRIED THE BBB AND THE LEMON LAW PROGRAM WHICH I WAS DENIED BY A THIRD PARTY ARBITRATOR. I WAS EXPECTING THAT BECAUSE A BBB EMPLOYEE SAID 93% OF ALL PEOPLE THAT FILE A LEMON LAW CLAIM IN MISSOURI GET DENIED. I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH 50,000 MILES LEFT ON IT AND THE FORD ENGINEER IN CHARGE OF REPAIRS SAYS HE REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE ENGINE NOISE ANYMORE BECAUSE OF THE PAST FAILED REPAIRS. WHILE ENTERING A HIGHWAY VIA AN ON-RAMP DOING ABOUT APPROXIMATELY 45 MILES PER HOUR I ATTEMPTED HARD ACCELERATION TO PICK UP SPEED AND MERGE IN TO TRAFFIC THAT WAS DOING APPROXIMATELY 65-70 MILES PER HOUR. THIS ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT SITUATION AS I EXPECTED THE VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE WHEN IT DID NOT. I WAS THEN FORCED TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE THE CEL HAD CLEARED AND THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING NORMALLY. NO CODE WAS STORED IN THE PCM TO INDICATE WHAT THE ISSUE WAS. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL MORE TIMES SINCE THE FIRST INCIDENT. ONCE WHILE TOWING A 4000LB BOAT/TRAILER WHICH ALSO ALMOST CAUSED A SEVERE ACCIDENT. FORD HAS FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AND CONCLUDES THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO SINCE NO CODES WERE STORED. I WILL NOTE THAT AFTER RECEIVING TSB 12-2-10 THE VEHICLE WILL STILL EXHIBIT THE SAME SYMPTOMS DESCRIBED ABOVE, BUT NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON. VEHICLE WILL STALL, GO IN TO "LIMP MODE" WITH NO INDICATION THAT ANYTHING IS WRONG. ONLY RESOLUTION IS TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON TO CLEAR THE STATUS. THIS CREATES DANGEROUS SITUATIONS WHEN ON A HIGHWAY. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. *TT
DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 75 MPH. I ATTEMPTED TO PASS A CAR BY GIVING THE TRUCK WIDE OPEN THROTTLE. THE TRUCK RESPONDED BY DOWN SHIFTING SEVERAL GEARS, AND THE RPM'S INCREASE TO AROUND 4000. ONCE THIS HAPPENS, THE ENGINE STARTS TO BOG DOWN/MISFIRE AND THE TRUCK WILL NOT ACCELERATE. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTS TO FLASH. I LET OFF THE GAS AND THE TRUCK CONTINUES TO MISFIRE FOR SEVERAL MORE MINUTES BEFORE CLEARING UP ON ITS OWN. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON 4 OR 5 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. *JS

FROM A DEAD STOP I ACCELERATED TO TURN INTO HER DRIVEWAY THE ENGINE HESITATED AND STUMBLED IT SOUNDED LIKE YOU HAD THROWN A HANDFUL OF MARBLES INSIDE THE INTAKE THE ENGINE MADE A FUNNY NOISE THEN DIED AFTER GETTING IT RESTARTED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON UPON RETURNING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP I FOUND OUT IT HAD MELTED THE INTAKE MANIFOLD SENSORS AND PART OF THE THROTTLE BODY AWAY FORD HAS NO IDEA WHAT CAUSED THIS THE TRUCK IS ALSO BEEN PLAGUED WITH ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. I HAVE A 2007 FORD F150. ALL OF THE TIRE VALVE STEMS ARE CRACKED. I HAD ONE REPLACED AND A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER ANOTHER TIRE WENT FLAT. AN INSPECTION OF THE REMAINING TIRES SHOWED THAT THEY ARE ALL BAD. *TR
UNDER HARD ACCELERATION INTO TRAFFIC OR WHEN PASSING, VEHICLE WILL SUDDENLY LOSE POWER AND GO INTO A "LIMP MODE." THIS CONDITION IS THOUGHT TO OCCUR BECAUSE OF ENGINE MISFIRE AND SEVERAL FACTORS HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED THAT CAN CAUSE THIS IN THE ECOBOOST 3.5L V6. THE DEALER HAS REPLACED IGNITION COILS WITH NO SUCCESS IN CORRECTING THIS ISSUE. MY SERVICE MANAGER SHARED WITH ME THAT FORD ENGINEERING IS WELL AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND HAS YET TO COME UP WITH A SOLUTION TO CORRECT IT. IN THE MEANTIME, MY FAMILY IS PLACED AT RISK OF AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE THERE IS NO WAY TO PREDICT WHEN THE ENGINE WILL SUDDENLY LOSE POWER WHEN YOU NEED IT MOST FOR PASSING OR MERGING SITUATIONS. THIS BECOMES EVEN WORSE WHEN PULLING A TRAILER. NHTSA SHOULD DEMAND THAT FORD IMMEDIATELY RECALL AND REPAIR THESE VEHICLES, OR REPLACE THEM UNTIL AN APPROPRIATE SOLUTION IS FOUND TO REMEDY THE MISFIRE CONDITION AND RESULTANT LOST OF POWER. *TR

DROVE THE TRUCK ABOUT 2 MILES IN THIS DERATED CONDITION UNTIL I REACHED MY DESTINATION. TURNED THE IGNITION TO OFF AND THEN CYCLED THE IGNITION BACK ON AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT OUT AND THE UNIT RAN CORRECTLY AGAIN. TOOK UNIT TO THE DEALER AND THE DIAGNOSTIC TOOL ONCE PLUGGED INTO THE DATA PORT DID NOT REVEAL ANY FAULT CODES AND NO CODES WERE STORED. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE AND NOTHING WAS DONE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THIS HAS HAPPENED VERY INTERMITTENTLY ABOUT 7 TIMES TOTAL NOW ALWAYS WHEN TRYING TO APPLY THROTTLE IN EITHER HUMID OR RAINY WEATHER CONDITIONS. SEVERAL SOFTWARE UPDATES HAVE BEEN PERFORMED TO THE TRUCK FOR SOME ISSUE WITH THE TRANS, BUT THIS INTERMITTENT MISFIRE UNDER LIGHT LOAD STILL OCCURS. THIS HAPPENED MOST RECENTLY AT ROUGHLY 23100 MILES ON THE ODOMETER WHILE DRIVING UP AN INCLINE AT ROUGHLY 65 MPH AND APPLYING LIGHT LOAD TO TRY AND CLIMB THE HILL. HAD TO LET OFF THE THROTTLE AND TRY TO APPLY THE THROTTLE AGAIN TO ACCELERATE. THIS CONTINUED FOR ABOUT 3 THROTTLE APPLICATION ATTEMPTS THAN FINALLY SMOOTHED OUT WITHOUT ILLUMINATING THE CEL THIS TIME. IM SURE THE ISSUE WILL CONTINUE UNTIL FORD COMES OUT WITH A REAL RESOLVE AND NOT BAND AID REPAIRS. *TR
