TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AND MAKING A RIGHT TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WITH DIFFICULTY TO CONTINUE DRIVING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,526.
DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, TRUCK WAS SUPPOSED TO SHIFT FROM 5TH TO 6TH GEAR, BUT SHIFTED INTO FIRST INSTEAD. HAPPENED 3 TIMES TODAY AND A COUPLE MORE TIMES IN THE PAST WEEK. TIRES SQUEALED, THROWS YOUR FORWARD IN YOUR SEAT DUE TO THE SUDDEN DROP IN SPEED.
THE VEHICLE WOULD DOWNSHIFT INTO 1ST GEAR WITHOUT WARNING, HAS OCCURRED WHEN VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH. THE VEHICLE WOULD ALSO REMAIN IN 1ST GEAR AFTER THESE INCIDENTS AND INTERMITTENTLY WHEN LEAVING FROM A STOP, AT AN INTERSECTION. VEHICLE HAS DONE THIS SEVERAL TIMES, IN WHICH CASE THE DASHBOARD DISPLAYED AN ILLUMINATED MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT AND GONE INTO LIMP MODE, WITH ONLY 5TH GEAR AVAILABLE, WHILE IN AN INTERSECTION. THIS PROBLEM WOULD ALSO CAUSE THE ODOMETER TO READ '-------.--' AND THE SPEEDOMETER TO READ '0 MPH', EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, TRAVELLING AT ANY SPEED. VEHICLE IS IN OTHERWISE PERFECT OPERATING CONDITIONS. DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE P0720 WAS DISPLAYED DURING THESE INCIDENTS. THE MANUFACTURER HAS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 16N02 FOR 'CERTAIN' VEHICLES, IN WHICH THE DEALERS ARE REPLACE THE MOLDED LEAD FRAME WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION. IN THE CASE OF MY VEHICLE, THIS PROGRAM DID NOT APPLY TO MY VEHICLE, WHILE AT THE SAME TIME, THE MOLDED LEAD FRAME WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION WAS DETERMINED TO BE THE SOURCE OF THE ISSUE AND SUBSEQUENTLY REPLACED. WITH MY VEHICLE NOT APPLYING FOR THE NOTED CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM, WITH THE SAME FAULTY PART AS NOTED WITHIN THE SPECIFIC CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM, IT IS MY OPINION THAT THE AFFECTED VEHICLES WITH DEFICIENT MOLDED LEAD FRAMES IS FAR GREATER THAN WHAT WAS INITIALLY THOUGHT AND THEREFORE, THE RECALL PROGRAM SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO ALL F-150S AND SIMILAR VEHICLES WITHIN THE SPECIFIED BUILD DATES, AS NOTED WITHIN THE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM. THE MOLDED LEAD FRAME FAILURE SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND CAUSES SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERNS FOR THE DRIVERS OF THOSE VEHICLES AND TO THE TRAVELLING PUBLIC.
WHILE DRIVING LOST POWER STEERING ; POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT SHOWED UP ON SCREEN
LOSS OF BRAKING WHILE BACKING UP JUST AFTER COLD START, DUE TO VACUUM PUMP FAILURE ON 3.5L ECOBOOST, REFERENCE FORD CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 15N05 & NHTSA INVESTIGATION - EVEN AFTER HAVING REPAIR DONE PREVIOUSLY BY FORD UNDER THE PROGRAM / EXTENDED WARRANTY - VACUUM PUMP FAILED AGAIN LESS THAN 2 YEARS AFTER FIRST VACUUM PUMP REPLACEMENT CAUSING THE BRAKING ISSUES
05/10/2018 DRIVING IN A SCHOOL ZONE AT 20 MPH THE VEHICLE WITH OUT ANY INPUT DOWN SHIFTED FROM 3RD TO 1ST GEAR. AFTER WHICH IT REFUSED TO SHIFT UP UNTIL I PULLED OVER AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK. NO CODE WAS THROWN. 5/09/2018 WHILE PICKING UP THE KIDS FROM SCHOOL THE F150 FELT LIKE IT WAS STUMBLING AT 20 MPH AND THEN IT KICKED BACK IN AND SPUN THE TIRES, NO CODE WAS THROWN. PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY THE VEHICLE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS ACTED AS IF IT DID NOT KNOW WHAT GEAR TO BE IN WHILE GOING AT A STEADY PACE, THE SPEEDOMETER WAS BOUNCING TO VARIOUS SPEEDS AND THEN IT SMOOTHED BACK OUT. I TOOK THE CAR TO A FORD DEALERSHIP AND HAD THEM CHANGE THE FLUID BELIEVING AT 110000+ MILES AND NO WAY TO CHECK THE FLUID......THE FLUID MAY HAVE LEAKED OR JUST WAS WORN OUT. A COUPLE MONTHS AGO ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY FOR NO REASON THE VEHICLE WENT IN TO LIMP HOME MODE AT 75 MPH, AND WOULD ONLY OPERATE IN 3 THRU 5TH GEARS UNTIL I COULD TURN IT OF AND THEN RESTART. IT THREW P0720 CODE WITH THAT CODE ALSO PENDING SHOWING THE OUT PUT SPEED SENSOR. THIS TRUCK IS A DEARBORN TRUCK WITH 6R80 AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ( SEE RECALL 16S19) BUT THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS A TRUCK BUILT IN TEXAS.....FORD CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM 16N02, NHTSA ACTION NUMBER RQ17010. AS IN ALMOST ALL THE REPORTS FORD CLAIMS THAT A TRUCK BUILT AT DEARBORN DOES NOT ( BY VIN EVEN THOUGH THE IT FALLS IN THE RECALL TIME FRAME AND HAS THE AFFECTED TRANSMISSION, AND THE DEALERSHIP EVEN TOLD ME THE TRUCK WAS BUILT IN TEXAS)
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 80 MPH, THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED ON ITS OWN AND LOST ACCELERATION. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED, BUT THE TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE GAUGE INCREASED. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED OFF, AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (MIKE BROWN AUTO GROUP, 4950 EAST HIGHWAY 377, GRANDBURY, TEXAS 76049), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO OPEN RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 192,434.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD EVERYDAY USE THE TRUCK SUDDENLY DROPS DOWN TO 1ST GEAR SOMETIMES CAUSING THE TIRES TO LOCK UP OTHER TIMES CAUSING THE ENGINE TO REV UP. IT HAS HAPPENED ONCE ON THE FREEWAY AND QUITE A FEW TIMES ON THE SIDE STREETS I TOOK IT TO THE TRANS SHOP AND HE WAS NOT SURE
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE TRUCK I PLACE MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE IT IS HARD AS A ROCK, WILL NOT MOVE DOWN OR ALLOW TO USE, PUT VEHICLE IN GEAR NO BRAKES ALMOST DROVE THROUGH GARAGE DOOR THIS OCCURS EVERY TIME I USE THE VEHICLE THE CAUSE IS BRAKE ASSIST VACUUM PUMP WHICH SHOULD CAUSE A RECALL, AS SOMEBODY WHO USES THIS TRUCK OR ONE LIKE IT WITH THE SAME PROBLEM COULD RUN OVER SOMEBODY NO PHOTOS AVAILABLE AS THE PART IS HIDDEN BEHIND THE LEFT FRONT HEADLIGHT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 F-150. WHILE DRIVING IN REVERSE, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED, BUT FAILED TO RESPOND AND TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BILL BROWN FORD (32222 PLYMOUTH RD, LIVONIA, MI 48150, (734) 399-4244) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD INADVERTENTLY SHIFT INTO FIRST GEAR AND THE "WRENCH" WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUTONATION FORD FRISCO (6850 TX-121, FRISCO, TX 75034) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE LEAD FRAME FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THE FAILURE WAS RELEVANT TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V248000 (POWER TRAIN). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,137. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
HAD BEEN IN THE TRUCK DRIVING AND THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER ON. WHEN I STOPPED AND OPENED THE DOOR TO THE TRUCK A PANEL IN THE REAR SLIDING BACK GLASS EXPLODED. I HAVE BEEN SEEING WHERE MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THE ISSUE AND SOME HAD SAID TO REPORT IT HERE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BOB BOYD FORD, INC. (2840 N COLUMBUS ST, LANCASTER, OH 43130) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V248000 (POWERTRAIN), BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL; THEREFORE, THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR COST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
THE FUEL PUMP RELAY AND POWER FUSES BOTH MELTED WHICH HAS CAUSED STARTING ISSUES AND ENGINE MISFIRES. THERE ARE MANY REPORTS OF THE SAME FUSES MELTING IN AGES 2010 -2014 OF THE SAME FORD F-150 TRUCKS. THIS SHOULD BE UNDER A FORD RECALL PROGRAM AS IT CAUSED TRUCKS TO LOOSE POWER.
THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS AT ALL SPEEDS BUT MOST RECENTLY WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY DOING 70 MPH MY TRUCK WENT INTO FIRST GEAR AND LOCKED UP MY TRUCK REAR END. I SLID ONTO THE BERM OF THE ROAD AND ALMOST DOWN A HILL. THE DREADED WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON, THE SPEEDOMETER WENT INOPERABLE, THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND THE TRUCK WENT INTO SORT OF A LIMP MODE AND DROVE REAL WEIRD. THE CODE WAS A P0720 OUTPUT SHAFT SPEED SENSOR. OF COURSE MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT IS A 2012, BUILT IN DEARBORN WITH THE SAME TRANSMISSION AS THE RECALLED ONES, GO FIGURE! I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH SHARPNACK FORD IN WILLARD OHIO THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW WITH THE TRUCK WHERE I WILL PAY $1000 TO GET THE LEAD BODY IN THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED. THIS IS TOTALLY RIDICULOUS THAT ALL VIN'S FOR 2012 ARE NOT COVERED. I OWN THREE FORDS AND I AM STARTING TO WONDER WHY!
TRUCK DOWNSHIFTS ON ITS OWN I LOSE MY SPEEDOMETER NO POWER HAVE TO TURN TRUCK OFF AND RESTART TO GET IT TO WORK FOUND RECALL ON THIS BUT FORD SAYS MINE IS NOT IN THE RECALL.
THE POWER STEERING ASSIST TOTALLY CUT OUT WITHOUT WARNING IN THE MIDDLE OF A TURN OUT FROM A PARKING LOT ON TO A 6-LANE HIGHWAY. I WAS NOT ABLE TO COMPLETE THE TURN. THE TRUCK SHUDDERED VERY ROUGHLY AS THE POWER STEERING FAILED. LUCKILY THERE WERE NO OTHER CARS ON THE ROAD AT THE TIME. IF THERE WERE, ONE WOULD HAVE HIT ME AND IT WOULD HAVE BEEN BAD. I TURNED THE A/C OFF AND MY POWER STEERING CAME BACK. IT HAS NOT HAPPENED AGAIN YET. BUT I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. I HOPE THAT THIS REPORT, IF SUPPORTED BY MANY MORE FROM OTHER OWNERS, MAY POINT TO A LARGER PROBLEM, IF ONE EXISTS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE WASHING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED SEVERE RUST ON THE INSIDE OF THE CABIN CORNERS ALL THE WAY TO THE OUTER SURFACE ON BOTH CORNERS OF THE CABIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT BODY SHOP AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON FAILURE WITH THESE VEHICLES. DUE TO HOW THE VEHICLES WERE DESIGNED, WATER WOULD ACCUMULATE ON THE CORNERS OF THE CABIN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
2012 FORD F150 - TRANSMISSION LEAD FRAME THE FORD DEALERSHIP (BOLTON IN LAKE CHARLES, LA) IS REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION LEAD FRAME IN MY TRUCK. THE VEHICLE, DRIVING LINEARLY AT 35 MPH, LOCKED INTO 3RD GEAR AND WENT INTO SAFE OPERATING MODE WITH ALMOST NO ACCELERATION. THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING AND A WRENCH LIGHT FAULT CODE APPEARED ON THE SCREEN. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO INTO FIRST OR SECOND GEAR OR REGAIN ACCELERATION, EVEN WHEN STATIONARY, PARK, OR AFTER RESTARTING. THE VEHICLE IS AN EARLY 2012 PRODUCTION PICKUP FROM THE DEARBORN, MICHIGAN PLANT, MATCHING THE RECALL CRITERIA FOR NHTSA (16V-248) AND FORD (16S19) BUT THE VIN DOES NOT APPEAR IN REFERENCE TO THE RECALL FOR THE TRANSMISSION LEAD FRAME. THE DEALER REFUSED TO HONOR ANY WARRANTY FOR THIS RECALLED DEFECTIVE PART. THE VEHICLE IS DEALER STOCK / UNMODIFIED AND PRESENTLY HAS 71,000 MILES.
OUR 2012 RAPTOR THAT WE HAVE HAD SINCE NEW, WITH 63K MILES, WAS DRIVING FINE WHEN THE BRAKE FLUID LIGHT AND EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHTS CAME ON AND LOST ALL POWER BRAKING. WE WERE ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER WITHOUT AN ACCIDENT AND IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A FAILED MASTER CYLINDER WHICH BLED INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER. WE CAN UPDATE WITH WORK RECEIPTS WHEN WE RECEIVE THE TRUCK BACK NEXT WEEK.
WHEN I START THE TRUCK I HAVE TO LET IT IDLE AND WARM UP FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES. IF I DO NOT LET THE TRUCK WARM-UP AND I PUT IT IN GEAR THE BRAKE PEDAL IS VERY FIRM AND THE TRUCK WILL NOT STOP. THE BRAKE PEDAL PULSES LIKE THE ABS SYSTEM IS KICKING ON BUT THE TRUCK WILL NOT STOP. RECENTLY, THE TRUCK WILL NOT STOP IF CRUISE CONTROL IS TURNED ON. IF CRUISE CONTROL IS ON AND I PUSH THE BRAKE PEDAL THE BRAKE PEDAL IS VERY FIRM AND CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT TURN OFF AND THE TRUCK WILL NOT SLOW DOWN. I HAVE TO MANUALLY TURN OFF CRUISE CONTROL FROM THE STEERING WHEEL AND THEN THE BRAKES WILL WORK AGAIN. I WAS DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE 44 IN OKLAHOMA WHEN I TRIED TO HIT THE BRAKES AND THE TRUCK DID NOT STOP. BEFORE I LEFT ON THE ROAD TRIP I LET THE TRUCK WARM-UP SO THAT THE BRAKES WOULD WORK WHEN I FIRST LEFT THE DRIVEWAY.
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AS CERTIFIED USED IN 2014 WITH 32,000 MILES. SINCE OWNERSHIP, WE HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO 4 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS AROUND THE ST. LOUIS AREA WITH COMPLAINTS OF EXCESSIVE BRAKE NOISE ON START UP. ALL DEALERSHIPS HAVE MENTIONED THAT IT'S NORMAL AND VEHICLES WILL MAKE SOME NOISE AFTER SITTING. THIS ISSUE CAN HAPPEN IF VEHICLE IS DRIVEN, PARKED AND THEN MOVED WITHIN A 15-20 MINUTE PERIOD. THE NOISE WAS TO THE POINT OF BEING OBNOXIOUS, AT APPROXIMATELY 65,000 MILES I REPLACED THE BRAKES ON BOTH AXLES. THE PROBLEM STILL CONTINUES TO HAPPEN AND HAS GOTTEN EVEN WORSE. APPEARS THAT THERE IS ALREADY A SERVICE BULLETIN AND FORD EXTENDED WARRANTY REGARDING THIS ISSUE, BUT MULTIPLE DEALERS HAVE MADE IT APPEAR THAT THERE WASN'T AN ISSUE.
LESS THAN A YEAR AGO, MY PASSENGER SIDE WINDSHIELD TRIM STARTED MAKING A FLAPPING SIDE. EVENTUALLY IT CAME OFF AND I HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS CHARGED OVER $200 TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. LESS THAN 1 MONTH AGO, THE RIGHT SIDE (DRIVER) WINDSHIELD TRIM STARTED MAKING THE SAME NOISE. MY VEHICLE HAS NOT HAD A NEW WINDSHIELD IN IT SO APPARENTLY THE TRIM IS DEFECTIVE. MY VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 70,000 MILES ON IT. UNFORTUNATELY, MY DEALER'S EXTENDED WARRANTY PACKAGE DOES NOT COVER THIS PROBLEM. EVEN THEN, IT WOULD COST ME $250.00 FOR THE DEDUCTIBLE. THIS PROBLEM STARTED OCCURRING WHEN I REACHED DRIVING SPEEDS OF 50+MPH.
TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION SUDDEN DOWN SHIFT INTO 1ST GEAR WHILE IN MOTION 30 - 40 MPH. ALSO, TRANSMISSION BANG WHILE IN 1ST GEAR WHILE IN MOTION 5 - 10 MPH. ALSO TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION SUCH THAT IT WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO 6TH GEAR AT HIGHWAY SPEED 70 - 75 MPH, ALSO WOULD NOT DOWN SHIFT BELOW 3RD GEAR WHILE TRAVELING LESS THAT 25-30 MPH OR EVEN AT COMPLETE STOP. LOSS OF SPEEDOMETER, ODOMETER, FUEL ECONOMY INDICATOR. AIRBAG INDICATOR ALSO ILLUMINATED. WRENCH ICON ILLUMINATED BRIEFLY. DOWN SHIFT INTO 1ST GEAR OCCURRED ON CITY STREETS, OTHER ISSUES OCCURRED WHILE ENTERING HIGHWAY. ALSO, TURN SIGNALS WOULD NOT AUTO CANCEL.

IN ADDITION, THE POWER TRAIN INDICATOR ILLUMINATED DURING THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SPEED SENSOR FAILED. THE DEALER (JENKINS & WYNNE FORD, HONDA, & LINCOLN, 2655 TRENTON RD, CLARKSVILLE, TN 37040) WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL; THEREFORE, THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V248000 (POWER TRAIN), BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.
