WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY DURING A RAIN EVENT. WENT TO ACCELERATE TO MERGE AND THE WHOLE TRUCK STARTED TO SHUDDER AND SHAKE. THE TRUCK LOST POWER. I WAS LOSING SPEED AND EVERYTIME I TRIED TO ACCELERATE THE TRUCK WOULD SHAKE WORSE. COASTED BACK INTO MY LANE, AND PUT ON THE HAZARDS TO SLOW INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE. THE TRUCK WOULD ONLY IDLE. TURNED TRUCK OFF, RESTARTED TRUCK, AND IT APPEARED FINE. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. *TR
VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE FROM 40 MPH WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MERGE WITH HIGHWAY TRAFFIC. WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED THE VEHICLE SHUTTERED AND WOULD ACCELERATE PAST 40 MPH WHILE TRYING TO MERGE WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC GOING 65 MPH. CONTINUED WITH A VERY SLOW ACCELERATION WHICH TOOK ABOUT A MILE TO REACH 60 MPH. THEN THE VEHICLE STARTED TO PERFORM NORMALLY. *TR
6 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DROPS DOWN INTO FIRST GEAR NO MATTER THE SPEED. FROM 6TH TO 1ST CONSTANTLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER HE PARKED AND EXITED THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL FORWARD. THE CONTACT RE-ENTERED THE VEHICLE AND ENGAGED THE BRAKE PEDAL HOWEVER, THE WHEELS STARTED SPINNING AND THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE THEN PUSHED THE OTHER VEHICLE INTO THE CONTACT'S HOME. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT'S HOME WAS DAMAGED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
THE TRUCK STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY WHILE TRYING TO PASS A TRUCK ON THE TWO LANE HIGHWAY. THERE WAS A HUGE LOSS IN POWER AND COULDN'T COMPLETE PASSING THE TRUCK. EXTREMELY UNSAFE TO HAVE TO SLOW DOWN WHILE STILL SHAKING AND BUCKING TO GET BACK BEHIND THE TRUCK THAT I WAS TRYING TO PASS. THIS VIOLENT SHAKING AND LOSS OF POWER HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES EVEN AFTER THE MANY TRIPS TO THE FORD SERVICE DEPARTMENT'S. NONE OF THE BANDAGES HAVE WORKED THAT FORD HAS ATTEMPTED. THIS HAS BEEN A NIGHTMARE TO NOT FEEL SAFE IN A 4X4 TRUCK NOR WILL MY WIFE RIDE IN IT ANYMORE BECAUSE OF THE ISSUE SCARING HER LAST TIME SHE RODE IN THE TRUCK. THE PROBLEM HAPPENS WHEN IT RAINS OR HAS RAINED RECENTLY OR IS HUMID WHICH WOULD BE EVERY DAY IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA. *JS
WHILE ENTERING THE HIGHWAY FROM THE RAMP I PULLED INTO THE FIRST LANE AND TRIED TO ACCELERATE. THE TRUCK STARTED TO MISS AND BUCK AND WOULD NOT INCREASE IN SPEED CAUSING ME TO PULL OFF THE ROADWAY. I SHUT THE TRUCK OFF AND RESTARTED IT. THE TRUCK WILL ONLY RUN IF YOU ACCELERATE VERY SLOWLY. ANY ATTEMPT TO GAIN SPEED IS MET WITH THE SAME RESPONSE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE FORD DEALER WHERE THEY CLEARED THE CODES AND INFORMED ME FORD WAS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH WATER IN THE INTERCOOLER. AT THIS TIME THEY HAVE NO PARTS TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM AND TOLD ME TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AS IT IS. MY FEAR IS SOMEONE COULD GET KILLED. THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. IF FORD KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM AND CAN'T FIX IT WOULDN'T THEY BE RESPONSIBLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING ABOVE 40 MPH OR MERGING, THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY. THE SPEED DECREASED TO 35 MPH. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER, BUT IT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ISSUE WAS POSSIBLY RELATED TO A PREVIOUS ISSUE WITH THE CHARGED AIR COOLER (RELATED TO THE TURBO). THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER HOWEVER THE CALL DROPPED WHILE SPEAKING WITH A REPRESENTATIVE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,000.
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, AFTER ACCELERATING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE, THE TRUCK SUDDENLY SHUDDERED AND THERE WAS SIGNIFICANT POWER LOSS. SO MUCH SO, IT WAS DANGEROUS TO GET OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED ACTING LIKE THIS THROUGHOUT THE DAY. I TOOK IT INTO A FORD DEALERSHIP WHO 'RESOLVED' THE ISSUE. 1.5 YEARS LAYER, THE SAME EXACT THING STARTED OCCURRING AGAIN (18JUL2014). AGAIN, IT WAS UNSAFE FOR ME TO PULL OVER AFTER SUCH A CONSIDERABLE POWER LOSS. *TR
2012 FORD F-150. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTION. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE GEAR MOVED FROM PARK TO REVERSE TWICE, SINCE HE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN SEPTEMBER 2012. THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT CAUSED APPROXIMATELY $5800 DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE, PLUS DAMAGE TO LANDSCAPING PROPERTY OF A BUSINESS. THE CONSUMER STATED HE PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND LEFT IT RUNNING. WHEN HE WENT AROUND THE TRUCK, HE SAW THE TRUCK STARTING TO MOVE IN REVERSE. HE RAN AROUND TO THE TRUCK, OPENED THE DRIVER'S DOOR AND TRIED TO CLIMB INTO THE TRUCK, TO STOP IT, BUT WAS KNOCKED DOWN TO HIS KNEES AND CAUGHT BETWEEN THE DOOR AND THE DOOR JAMB ON THE TRUCK. HE WAS DRAGGED TO HIS KNEES FOR SEVERAL FEET, BEFORE HE DECIDED TO LET GO DOWN AND ROLLED AWAY FROM THE TRUCK. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED IN REVERSE FOR APPROXIMATELY 75 FEET BEFORE RUNNING UP OVER A CURB AND DOWN AN EMBANKMENT OVER TWO TREES, SOME SMALL BUSHES AND DESTROYING 30 ' OF VINYL FENCE BEFORE COMING TO A REST. ON OCTOBER 1, 2012, THE CONSUMER BACKED THE TRUCK INTO HIS DRIVEWAY, PLACED IT IN PARK AND EXITED THE VEHICLE, AND LEFT IT RUNNING WITH THE DRIVER'S DOOR OPEN, WHEN SUDDENLY, THE VEHICLE STARTED MOVE BACKWARDS. HE TRIED TO GET IN THE VEHICLE TO STOP IT, BUT WAS KNOCKED DOWN BY THE DOOR. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED BACK FOR ABOUT 25 FEET HITTING A LANDSCAPING BOULDER BEFORE COMING TO A STOP. THE CONSUMER HAS SINCE TRADED THE VEHICLE. *JB
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FOR MY SON IN DECEMBER 2012. WE TOOK A TRIP TO ALABAMA ON THE SATURDAY FOLLOWING THE PURCHASE. THE TRUCK HAD PROBLEMS STALLING, MISFIRIING, AND NOT BRAKING IMMEDIATELY. WE HAVE TAKEN THE TRUCK TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS APPROXIMATELY 15 TO 20 TIMES. IT IS IN THE SHOP AGAIN TODAY FOR THE MISFIRING/STALLING. THE SERVICE WRITER TOLD MY SON THAT HIS VEHICLE HAS ONLY BEEN THE SHOP TWICE FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. WE STILL HAVE ALL THE SERVICE PAPERWORK TO DISPEL THAT REMARK, THIS VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 24,000 MILES ON IT. THE FACTORY WARRANTY EXPIRES IN DECEMBER AND HAS STILL NOT BEEN FIXED. IT DOES NOT JUST STALL IN RAINY OR VERY HUMID CONDITIONS AS STATED BY FORD IN THEIR RESPONSE TO THE NHTSA INVESTIGATION. THEY HAVE REPLACED SPARK PLUGS TWICE, UPDATED SOFTWARE, PUT A HEAT SHIELD IN FRONT OF THE INTER-COOLER. NONE OF THESE THINGS HAVE WORKED. THE SHIELD IN FRONT OF THE INTER-COOLER DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF THE INTER-COOLER BY NOT ALLOWING IT TO COOL AS INTENDED. IT RAISES THE TEMPERATURE IN THE INTERCOOLER IN AN ATTEMPT TO PRODUCE LESS CONDENSATION. MY SON BELIEVES THE INTER-COOLER HAS A DESIGN FLAW. HE THINKS THAT THE AIR RETURN FROM THE INTER-COOLER TO THE ENGINE BEING ON THE BOTTOM ALLOWS MORE CONDENSATION TO BE SUCKED BACK INTO THE ENGINE. IF IT WERE ON THE TOP, MORE OF THE CONDENSATION WOULD STAY IN THE BOTTOM AND NOT RETURNED BACK TO THE ENGINE. THERE IS AN AFTER MARKET FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT IT IS EXPENSIVE AND I BELIEVE FORD MOTOR COMPANY DOES NOT WANT TO SPEND THE KIND OF MONEY THAT IT WILL TAKE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM CORRECTLY. THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE ABLE TO OPERATE EFFICIENTLY UNDER ANY CONDITIONS. IF IT DOES NOT, IT IS FLAWED. I WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO PURCHASE THE REPLACEMENT INTER-COOLER OUT OF MY OWN POCKET. I'VE INCLUDED ALL THIS INFORMATION IN THE EVENT THAT IT HELPS OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.
I PULLED OUT TO PASS A SLOWER VEHICLE ON A TWO LANE HIGHWAY IN A PASSING ZONE AS ACCELERATING MY F150 LOSS POWER AND BEGAN SHAKING. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL BACK INTO MY LANE BEFORE THE ONCOMING CAR HIT ME HEAD ON. MY F150 CONTINUED TO SHAKE A LOSE POWER, AFTER A FEW MOMENTS OF THIS IT REGAINED POWER AND THE SHAKING HALTED. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS REMAINED ON SINCE THIS.I TOOK THE TRUCK IN TO MY DEALER TO CHECK THIS OUT AND WAS TOLD IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE INTERCOOLER AND THEY WOULD ORDER PARTS TO REPAIR. AS OF TODAY (FEB, 20TH 2013) I AM STILL WAITING FOR THE PARTS TO COME IN. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH FORD CUSTOMER CARE AND WAS INFORMED THE SUPPOSED PARTS ARE ON A BACK ORDER. THE LOSS OF POWER AND SHAKING HAS HAPPENED A FEW MORE TIMES SINCE, ALSO MY REMOTE START DOES NOT WORK DUE TO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEING ON. MY FUEL MILEAGE HAS DROPPED FROM 18.7 TO 14 MPG. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE, AS YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT IS GOING TO LOSE POWER. *TR
THE VEHICLE FROM ORIGINAL PURCHASE DATE IN OCTOBER OF 2012 HAS EXHIBITED A KNOCK/CLUNK/VIBRATION FROM THE FRONT SUSPENSION AND STEERING THAT TRANSMITS UP THROUGH THE STEERING COLUMN AND CAN BE FELT WHILE HOLDING THE STEERING WHEEL AND HEARD FROM THE FRONTAL AREA OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. THE STEERING WHEEL IS ALSO OFF CENTER TO THE LEFT AND VEHICLE SEEMS TO PULL LEFT REGARDLESS OF ROAD CROWN AND THE FRONT TWO TIRES ARE FEATHERED ACROSS THE TREAD. THE FIRST VISIT TO DEALER AT 2700 MILES THE DEALER RESET THE TOE AS IT WAS TOE OUT CAUSING UNEVEN TIRE WEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AT ROUGHLY 4700 MILES FOR THE KNOCK/CLUNK/VIBRATION AND UNEVEN TIRE WEAR AGAIN AND IT WAS FOUND THAT PINCH BOLTS WERE LOOSE ON THE STEERING COLUMN CAUSING THE CLUNK. DEALER STATES THE UNEVEN TIRE WEAR WAS DUE TO LOW TIRE PRESSURE. AFTER PICKING UP VEHICLE THE KNOCK/CLUNK/VIBRATION IS STILL PRESENT. WITH THE VEHICLE OFF AND TURNING THE WHEEL BACK AND FORTH RAPIDLY THE KNOCK/CLUNK CAN BE HEARD FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, HOWEVER THE DEALER STATES THIS IS NORMAL NOISE FROM THE FORD EPAS STEERING RACK. ASKED DEALER TO COMPARE TO A NEW LIKE VEHICLE ON THE LOT. DEALER CHANGED THE SUBJECT. SOUNDS LIKE FAULTY TIE ROD ENDS OR FAULTY INTERNAL RACK COMPONENTS FROM MY PAST AUTOMOTIVE EXPERIENCE. OWNED A 2011 F150 WITH THE SAME SUSPENSION AND EPAS STEERING RACK AND THE WHEEL WAS STRAIGHT, AND NO NOISE WAS HEARD OR VIBRATIONS FELT WHILE DRIVING. TIRES DID NOT SHOW UNEVEN WEAR EITHER. DEALER STATES I CANNOT COMPARE MY 2012 F150 TO MY 2011 F150. DEALER STATES AN APPOINTMENT IS GOING TO BE SET WITH THE LOCAL FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER TO TEST DRIVE MY VEHICLE TO MAKE A DETERMINATION IF ANY FURTHER ACTION IS TO BE TAKEN. AT THIS POINT THE DEALER IS NOT PROVIDING ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE IN RESOLVING MY CONCERN. ISSUE HAS ALSO BEEN DOCUMENTED WITH FORD CUSTOMER CARE. *TR
THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE FORD SHOP THREE TIMES FOR A CLICKING OR POPPING NOISE THAT CAME FROM THE REAR OF THE TRUCK. I HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT IT SINCE THE VEHICLE REACHED 6,000 MILES OR 4 MONTHS OLD. THE DEALER HAS ATTEMPTED NUMEROUS REPAIR ATTEMPTS (3 EA.)TO FIX THE PROBLEM THE VEHICLE HAS SPENT MANY DAYS AT THE SHOP WHILE THE MECHANIC TRIED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE FORD ENGINEERS OR SO I HAVE BEEN TOLD WHERE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND INSTRUCTED THE DEALERSHIP TO TRY THE SSM# 22384 TO FIX THE ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP PERFORMED THE SSM# ON FRIDAY THE 14TH OF DEC AND AFTER DRIVING THE TRUCK I NOTICED THE SAME COMPLAINT OF THE CLICKING NOISE AND THERE WAS NO APPARENT CHANGE TO OR AFTER BRINGING THE TRUCK IN FOR REPAIR. I NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE TRUCK WAS SAFE TO DRIVE AND THEY WOULD KEEP ME NOTIFIED ON ANY OTHER FIXES AS THEY COME AVAILABLE THROUGH FORD.AFTER ALMOST 200 MILES AFTER THE ATTEMPTED REPAIR I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN I FELT THE TRUCK SHAKE THEN HEARD A LARGE POW THEN BANG, I QUICKLY LOOKED OUT THE REAR VIEW MIRROR AND SAW SMOKE AND SPARKS. I WAS ABLE TO RECOVER AND GET THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD WHERE I NOTICED THE DRIVESHAFT ON THE GROUND THE ONLY THING ATTACHED WAS THE FRONT OF THE DRIVE SHAFT. THE PINION BEARING FLANGE (REAR) WAS ATTACHED TO THE DRIVESHAFT AND THE PINION SHAFT WAS SHEARED OFF THE REAREND. I FEEL THIS PROBLEM COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS INJURY TO ME OR OTHERS IF I WAS IN A DIFFERENT SCENARIO AND NOT SO LUCKY TO NOT BE CARRY MY CHILDREN AND TOWING MY BOAT. THIS IS A UNSAFE CONDITION AND SHOULD BE DEALT WITH TO ENSURE OTHERS DON'T HAVE MY INCIDENT THAT COULD CREATE A ACCIDENT. I HAVE THE SERVICE RECORD COPIES AND MY TRUCK IS STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP WAITING ON PARTS. *TR
INTERMITTENT STUMBLE/MISFIRE ON ACCELERATION FROM HIGHWAY SPEEDS, ENGINE FEELS LIKE IT IS IN LIMP MODE, THIS HAS HAPPENED FOUR TIMES. *TR
I DROVE MY 2012 FORD F150 PLATINUM, 4X4, SUPERCREW, MULTIPLE TIMES BETWEEN TEXAS AND WASHINGTON STATE ON INTERSTATE 10 AND INTERSTATE 5, GOING THROUGH OREGON BETWEEN THE MONTHS OF OCTOBER 2012 AND JANUARY 2013, TRAVELING THROUGH SNOWY AREAS AND THEN HOT AREAS SUCH AS ARIZONA. WHEN I ACCELERATED HARD TO MERGE WITH TRAFFIC OR TO PASS TRAFFIC, MY TRUCK LOST ACCELERATION POWER. I WAS ABLE TO SEE WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE EXHAUST. I TOOK MY TRUCK TO AUTOMAX FORD IN KILLEEN, TEXAS. THE DEALERSHIP WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE FROM A TECHNICAL BULLETIN AND REPAIRED THE FAULTY PART(S). *TR
WHILE PASSING A VEHICLE MY FORD F150 BEGAN TO SHUDDER DRAMATICALLY, LOST POWER IMMEDIATELY, CAUSING ME TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT WAS RAINING AT THE TIME. THIS COULD HAVE DEFINITELY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED IT WAS A FAILURE OF THE INTERCOOLER FOR TURBO ON THE ECOBOOST ENGINE. A REPLACEMENT PART HAS BEEN ORDERED BUT FORD STATES, THAT DUE TO THE MASSIVE AMOUNT OF CALLS FOR THIS PART, IT WOULD BE ABOUT 3 MONTHS TO REPLACE THE PART. THIS IS DEFINITELY AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN, AS THEY TOLD ME THIS COULD OCCUR AGAIN. I HAVE FOUND NUMEROUS REPORTS OF THIS HAPPENING ON OTHER ECO BOOST ENGINES. *TR
ON A 500 MILE TRIP FROM VA TO NYC DURING RAINY WEATHER, ENGINE STALLED UPON ACCELERATION ON 6 OCCASIONS. REPRODUCIBLE AFTER DRIVING AT CONSTANT SPEED FOR AN HOUR, OR SO, AND THEN ACCELERATING TO PASS A VEHICLE OR ENTER A FREEWAY. ABSOLUTELY SCARY AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I HAD SEVERAL SUCH INCIDENCES FROM DAY 1 OF OWNERSHIP AND I ALREADY FILED A SIMILAR REPORT IN JULY 2012 (#10465748). NEVER HAPPENS DURING DRY WEATHER. FORD APPLIED THE DEFLECTOR SHIELD AND REPROGRAMMING, WHICH DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM AT ALL, BUT NOTICEABLY REDUCED THE ENGINE POWER, LEADING TO SHUDDER IN 6TH GEAR WHEN GOING UPHILL AT 60 MPH (APPARENTLY DUE TO A LACK OF ENOUGH TORQUE; SHUDDER DISAPPEARS WHEN SWITCHING DOWN TO 5TH GEAR). GAS MILEAGE IS DOWN TO 15-16 MPG AT CONSTANT SPEED OF 65 MPH ON HIGHWAY, FAR FROM THE ADVERTISED NUMBERS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON DURING YESTERDAYS NIGHTMARE STALLING EVENTS AND THE TRUCK GOES BACK INTO THE SHOP SHORTLY. $55,000 TRUCK THAT CANNOT BE DRIVEN IN BAD WEATHER - AND EVERY FORD DEALER DECLINES HAVING "EVER HEARD OF THE PROBLEM". SEEING ALL THE COMPLAINTS IN THIS DATABASE AND ON F150 FORUMS, I THINK IT IS TIME FOR FORD TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEM PUBLICLY AND COME UP WIT A FIX VIAL RECALL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD F150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE INNER COOLER FOR THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. ENGINE STALLED DURING HARD ACCELERATION. IT HAD BEEN SITTING IDLING TO WARM UP ON A COLD MORNING. WHEN PULLING ONTO THE HIGHWAY AND ACCELERATING TO MOVE INTO TRAFFIC, THE ENGINE STUTTERED AND STALLED. HAD TO PULL OVER OUT OF TRAFFIC. *TR

LOSS OF POWER WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOPPED POSITION, MORE FREQUENTLY AS TIME GOES ON, AND WHEN TRUCK HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME. WHEN FIRST BOUGHT VEHICLE, THERE WAS A SHUDDER AND A SHAKE EXTREMELY NOTICEABLE AT 45 MPH. THE TRUCK WAS BROUGHT INTO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED AND CHECKED FOR A DEFLECTOR PLATE. THE DEFLECTOR PLATE WAS INSTALLED, SO A NEW INTERCOOLER WAS ORDERED AND A LONG WAIT WITH THIS TROUBLESOME PROBLEM OCCURRED. THE NEW INTERCOOLER ARRIVED AND WAS PUT IN, BUT THE SAME PROBLEMS PERSIST. THE SHUDDER AND SHAKE IS NOW MORE NOTICEABLE AT 35MPH BUT IS STILL THERE AND NOTICEABLE AS EVER. THE FORD DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT FORD HAS A NEW SERVICE BULLETIN OUT, BUT HAS NOT ISSUED A FIX. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE, AND I HOPE THAT WITH ALL THE DRIVING I DO, I DON'T GET A LOSS OF POWER WHEN I NEED IT RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT AND POSSIBLE FATALITY. *TR
ON MONDAY DECEMBER 11, MY WIFE AND I LEFT ON A TRIP TO INDIANA WITH APPROXIMATELY 10,400 MILES ON THE TRUCK. AFTER A STOP, AT THE BOWLING GREEN, KY., REST STOP, I PROCEEDED TO RETURN TO TRAFFIC ON INTERSTATE 65. AFTER DETERMINING I COULD SAFELY ACCELERATE IN FRONT OF TWO SEMI-TRAILER TRUCKS, I ENTERED THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH AND WENT TO FULL THROTTLE. INSTEAD OF ACCELERATING, THE ENGINE WENT INTO A TOTAL LOSS OF POWER. AMID THE BLOWING OF AIR HORNS AND MY WIFE'S SCREAMS I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO AVOID A COLLISION BY YANKING THE TRUCK ONTO THE EMERGENCY LANE. THE ENGINE DID NOT STOP RUNNING, BUT APPEARED (TO ME) TO BE TOTALLY FLOODED. THE ENGINE RAN ON ?? (NUMBER OF) CYLINDERS FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE EIGHTH OF A MILE BEFORE RETURNING TO RUNNING ON ALL CYLINDERS. I DO NOT THINK THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT BELIEVED ME WHEN THEY LOOKED AT THE TRUCK. I HAVE BEEN A MECHANIC AND AN ENGINEER FOR A LOT OF YEARS, I KNOW WHAT HAPPENED THIS TIME AND IT CAME VERY CLOSE TO A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND/ OR INJURY TO MY WIFE AND ME. THIS WAS A VERY CLOSE ACCIDENT AVOIDANCE AND IT PRACTICALLY DESTROYED OUR CONFIDENCE IN THE TRUCK. WHILE STILL ON OUR TRIP, WE MADE THE DECISION TO FORGO THE HASSLE OF TRYING TO PERSUADE THE SERVICE DEPT. THERE WAS A PROBLEM, AND GET A DIFFERENT BRAND OF NEW TRUCK. I HAVE TAKEN THE HIGH FINANCIAL LOSS OF TRADING FOR ANOTHER NEW TRUCK. I AM NOT TOTALLY SATISFIED WITH THIS VEHICLE. MY 2012 FORD F150 WITH ECO-BOOST ENGINE STALLS AND SHAKES UPON FAST ACCELERATION. THIS HAPPENS MOSTLY ON RAINY DAMP DAYS BUT HAS HAPPENED DURING NIGHT DRIVING ALSO. WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND ATTEMPTING TO PASS A SLOWER CAR, THE TRUCK LOST 50% OF ITS POWER. IT BEGAN TO MISS FIRE, AND ACT LIKE IT HAD BAD GAS OR SOMETHING. I ALSO STARTED TO NOTICE THAT IF YOU TURN A CORNER ON WET PAVEMENT AND YOU LOSE TRACTION, THE TRUCK MADE THE SAME GURGLING SOUND WITH POWER LOSS. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. I HAVE ALSO NOTICED THAT I GET VERY BAD GAS MILEAGE AVERAGING 12 MPG ON THE HIGHWAY. I TOOK THE TRUCK IN AND THEY REPROGRAMMED IT. I THINK ALL THIS DID WAS CUT BACK THE POWER TO HELP PREVENT DETONATION OR MISS FIRES. AFTER THIS THE TRUCK WAS A COMPLETE DOG. BAD MILEAGE AND NO POWER. I RECENTLY SENT THE TRUCK BACK AND THEY REPLACED SOME PARTS WITH THE INTERCOOLER. IT ISN'T 100% FIXED BUT IT IS BETTER. MILEAGE PICKED UP TO 15 MPG BUT NOWHERE NEAR WHAT THEY CLAIM. I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 70MPH AND PASSING TWO 18 WHEELERS ON THE INTERSTATE DURING A HEAVY RAINSTORM AND THE TRUCK BEGAN TO MISFIRE AND STUTTER AND HAD NO POWER. I HAD TO SWERVE BETWEEN THE SEMIS AND COAST TO A STOP ON THE SHOULDER TO NARROWLY AVOID A POTENTIALLY FATAL CRASH DUE TO THE LOSS IN POWER. SO MY QUESTION IS ARE TRANSMISSIONS REALLY THIS CHEAP AND WE JUST MOVE ON AND ACCEPT THAT CRAFTSMANSHIP IN AMERICA OR DO WE MAKE FORD FIX THEIR ISSUE. I HAVE PURCHASED MANY VEHICLES THROUGHOUT MY 39 YEARS IN THIS GREAT COUNTRY. I HAVE NEVER HAD A CAR ACT LIKE THIS ON SUCH A WIDE SCALE WITH NOTHING BEING DONE ABOUT IT. I PURCHASED MY NEW F-150 IN AUGUST 2012 AND IMMEDIATELY NOTICED A "HESITATION" WHEN STARTING OUT IN DRIVE, UNTIL THE ENGINE SHIFTED TO SECOND GEAR AND A "MISS" IN THE ENGINE WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I CALLED THE DEALER, TOLD THEM MY TRUCK HAS SAFETY DEFECT AND TOOK THE TRUCK BACK FOR AN EVALUATION AND OIL CHANGE. THE DEALER TOLD ME THEY FOUND NO DEFECTS ON THE COMPUTER CODES AND NO BULLETINS FROM FORD BUT "WE'VE HAD SEVERAL COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER CUSTOMERS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. WE CAN'T DO ANYTHING UNLESS THE COMPUTER SHOWS SOMETHING WRONG. I CALLED FORD "CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS CENTER" IN MICHIGAN AND WAS TOLD TO TAKE IT TO ANOTHER DEALER FOR A SECOND EVALUATION. I DID THIS AND THE NEW DEALER GAVE ME THE SAME STORY AS THE FIRST DEALER. I CALLED THE "CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP CENTER" AGAIN AND ADVISED THEM THAT WHAT THE DEALERSHIPS HAVE TOLD ME IS UNACCEPTABLE AND THAT I WOULD NOT HAVE BOUGHT THE TRUCK, IF I HAD KNOWN OR BEEN TOLD THAT THIS "DEFECT IS COMMON" WITH THIS TRUCK. THE "CRC" TOLD ME THEY WOULD HAVE THE REGIONAL SERVICE MANAGER CALL ME, WHICH SHE DID A FEW DAYS LATER AND TOLD ME THAT "THE PROBLEMS YOU ARE HAVING WITH YOUR TRUCK ARE CHARACTERISTIC OF THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TRUCKS AND NO OTHER ACTION WILL BE TAKEN. I TOLD THE REGIONAL SERVICE MANAGER THAT HER AND FORDS' RESPONSE IS UNACCEPTABLE AND IF THERE IS NO FIX, I WANT THE VEHICLE REPURCHASED OR REPLACED. SHE SAID, "NO FURTHER ACTION WILL BE TAKEN BY FORD." *TR
I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES. IT SEEMED TO START IN OCTOBER 2012. I WAS TRYING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC AND PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL DOWN QUICKLY AND IT DID NOT MOVE FORWARD ANY FASTER. I I WAS ALMOST REAR-ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE BECAUSE I COULD NOT GET ANY SPEED. IT SEEMS THAT WHEN I PUSH DOWN THE PEDAL VERY SLOWLY, IT WILL GO FASTER. BUT WHEN I NEED THE RESPONSE TO BE VERY QUICKLY, IT DOES NOT RESPOND. I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM WHEN I PULL MY CAMPER. IT WILL BE PERFORMING THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, I WILL NEED TO PUSH DOWN THE PEDAL TO GET POWER UP A HILL AND AGAIN, THERE IS NO POWER. I HAVE TAKEN THIS TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY KEEP SAYING THAT THERE IS NO PROBLEM. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE TO PULL MY CAMPER. IT DOES NOT PERFORM THE WAY IT WAS TOUTED IN THEIR ADVERTISEMENTS. *TT
WAS DRIVING AT 60MPH, ACCELERATED A LITTLE AND VEHICLE SHUDDERED/HESITATED AND DIDN'T ACCELERATE, AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHED, THEN BECAME SOLID. TOOK TO FORD DEALERSHIP WAS TOLD A CALIBRATION UPDATE FIXED THE PROBLEM. SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED 3 DAYS LATER. TOOK IT BACK TO DEALERSHIP, IT HAS BEEN THERE FOR 3 DAYS AND THEY STATE "ARE WAITING FOR FORD TO ADVISE THEM ON WHAT TO DO NEXT." THIS IS A 2012 FORD F150 ECOBOOST LARIAT 4X4 SUPERCREW WITH ONLY 5,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS A STICKER OF NEARLY $50,000. I WOULD EXPECT NO PROBLEMS OR AT LEAST A TIMELY SOLUTION. EITHER WAY, MERGING ONTO THE INTERSTATE OR NEEDING TO ACCELERATE AND THE TRUCK FAILING TO DO SO IS A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
HAD CRUISE CONTROL SET ON 59MPH......CAME UPON SLOW MOVING VEHICLES AND HIT ACCELERATOR TO PASS REACHING 80MPH....MADE PASS.....TOOK FOOT OFF ACCELERATOR TO SLOW DOWN, NOTHING HAPPENED WITH VEHICLE CONTINUOUSLY AT 80MPH....HIT BRAKE....NO REACTION STILL 80MPH...HOT THE CRUISE OFF BUTTON ON STEERING WHEEL, STILL NO REACTION.....HAD TO PHYSICALLY FORCE BRAKE PEDAL TO SLOW VEHICLE DOWN TO A STOP, HOWEVER ENGINE REMAINED AT HIGH THROTTLE UNTIL I COULD TURN IGNITION OFF.......WAITED A FEW MINUTES...TURNED VEHICLE BACK ON AND VEHICLE ACTED NORMALLY....TESTED CRUISE CONTROL A COUPLE TIMES BEFORE MAKING IT HOME...NO PROBLEMS....THIS WAS AND COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY SERIOUS SITUATION HAD THERE BEEN TRAFFIC ON THIS HIGHWAY...THANK GOD IT WAS AROUND 11 PM.....BRAND NEW TRUCK...HAD FOR TWO WEEKS.......REPORTING TO FORD SERVICE TOMM MORN. *TR
I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ENTERING THE FREEWAY DOING 55 I TRIED TO ACCELERATE THE VEHICLE PAST A SLOWER MOVING CAR AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY AND THE TRUCK LOST POWER. HAD I BEEN IN HEAVY TRAFFIC THIS WOULD HAVE CERTAINLY CAUSED A SERIOUS COLLISION AS I WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE AND HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO 30 MPH ON THE FREEWAY BEFORE I COULD SLOWLY ACCELERATE BACK UP TO SPEED. THIS HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE OCTOBER ESPECIALLY AFTER RAIN OR EVEN IN THE MORNINGS WHEN IT HAS BEEN A HEAVY FROST OVERNIGHT. ALSO MY M.P.G IS DOWN TO 11 TO 13 M.P.G THIS IS HORRIBLE ESPECIALLY THIS DAY AND AGE IN VEHICLE TECHNOLOGY. I HAVE BROUGHT MY TRUCK TO THE LOCAL DEALER AND OF COURSE THEY STATED THEY WERE UNAWARE OF A PROBLEM. I HAD TO SHOW THEM MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS FROM THIS WEBSITE AND OFF THE FORD 150 FORUM. ON MY WAY HOME LAST OCTOBER AFTER PICKING UP MY NEW F-150 AT THE DEALERSHIP I WAS ATTEMPTING TO PASS A CAR ON THE INTERSTATE. IT WAS ON A HILL AND WHEN I PUSHED ON THE GAS TO TRY AND PASS THE CAR THE TRUCK SHUTTERED AND SLOWED DOWN LOSING POWER AND SPEED. THE BEST WAY TO DESCRIBE IT WAS THAT IT "BOGGED" DOWN. THERE WAS NO ENGINE LIGHT. HOWEVER, I KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG, BUT I FIGURED I WOULD HAVE IT CHECKED OUT WHEN I CAME IN TO GET THE RUNNING BOARDS INSTALLED. A COUPLE OF DAYS LATER, HOWEVER, AN INCIDENT OCCURRED THAT WAS A BIT MORE DANGEROUS. I WAS ATTEMPTING TO PASS A SLOWER CAR ON A TWO LANE HIGHWAY (NO HILL) WHEN THE SAME THING HAPPENED WHEN I PUSHED DOWN ON THE GAS TO SPEED UP TO PASS--THE TRUCK SIMPLY BOGGED DOWN--LOSING POWER AND SPEED. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE SAID THAT THERE HAS BEEN REPORTED SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE AND FORD WAS WORKING ON A FIX. BUT SO FAR THERE HAS BEEN NOTHING FROM THE COMPANY. I HAVE AVOIDED THE PROBLEM BY NOT ACCELERATING THE ENGINE RAPIDLY BUT THIS IS NOT A PERMANENT FIX. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO ACCELERATION PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED AS HE TRIED TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC ON THE INTERSTATE, HE FLOORED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, BUT THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. HE WAS ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK OFF THE MAIN INTERSTATE AND INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. HE LET THE TRUCK SIT IN THE OFF POSITION FOR APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES AND THEN HE RE-STARTED THE TRUCK. AT THAT POINT, HE WAS SLOWLY ABLE TO ACCELERATE WHILE IN THE EMERGENCY LANE, TO A SPEED THAT ALLOWED HIM TO RE-ENTER THE INTERSTATE. ALL ATTEMPTS TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY FAILED AND IT WOULD ONLY ACCELERATE GRADUALLY AT SLOWER THEN NORMAL SPEEDS. HE CONTINUED HIS TRIP WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT ON AND AT HIS FIRST OPPORTUNITY HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE CONSUMER SAYING THEY HAD FIXED THE PROBLEM. THE TRUCK PERFORMED WELL FOR THE NEXT YEAR WITHOUT ANY INCIDENTS, THERE WERE NO OCCASIONS WHERE QUICK ACCELERATION WAS REQUIRED. IN OCTOBER 2013, HE MADE ANOTHER TRIP, AND THE SAME INCIDENT HAPPENED. THEN ENGINE SHUT DOWN AGAIN IN DECEMBER 2013. THE DEALER STATED THEY MADE A DIFFERENT REPAIR AND THEY RETURNED THE TRUCK TO THE CONSUMER. THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AGAIN IN APRIL 2014. THE DEALER KEPT THE VEHICLE, FOR TWO WEEKS, STATING THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND A PROBLEM. *JB
PROBLEM WITH ENGINE LOSING POWER AND DETONATION IN CYLINDERS DURING ACCELERATION. FIRST REPORTED PROBLEM OF ENGINE SHUTTER WITHIN WEEKS OF PURCHASE. ENGINE HAS NEVER OPERATED CORRECTLY. I HAVE BROUGHT THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES AND THEY KNOW THAT THE CAC IS THE PROBLEM BUT REFUSE TO REPLACE IT. THE LAST INCIDENT ON SEP. 20 2013 HAPPENED WHEN ENTERING HIGH SPEED TRAFFIC AND THE TRUCK COMPLETELY LOST POWER AND MY FAMILY AND I WERE ALMOST HIT MY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I HAD TO "LIMP" OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS THE TRUCK WOULD NOT OPERATE. THIS ECO-BOOST ISSUE IS GOING TO GET SOMEONE HURT OR KILLED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, WHO STATED THAT THE IRREGULARITIES WHERE A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE ECO BOOST FEATURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,500. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 10,463.
