TRANSMISSION STARTED RANDOMLY SHIFTING. IN ONE CASE IT WENT FROM 6TH GEAR TO 1ST AND LOCKED UP THE WHEELS. OBVIOUSLY THIS OCCURS WHEN CAR IS MOVING AND SHIFTING. LEAD FRAME OF THE TRANSMISSION IS WHAT WAS DEFECTIVE. THE PROBLEM OCCURRED WITH 93000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. 6TH TO 1ST SHIFT AT SPEED AND LOCKING UP THE WHEELS IS DEADLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO THIRD GEAR AND DECELERATED ON ITS OWN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TACHOMETER AND SPEEDOMETER CEASED TO DISPLAY AND THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT BLANK. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000.
EXPERIENCING TIMING CHAIN RATTLE AT STARTUP (FOR ABOUT 2-3 SECONDS, NOISE COMES FROM THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE), AS DESCRIBED IN TSB 16-0027, AFTER TRUCK HAS BEEN PARKED OVERNIGHT OR LONGER THAN 8 HOURS. RATTLE IS DEFINITELY MECHANICAL SOUNDING AND SOUNDS LIKE THE ENGINE IS ABOUT TO FALL APART.
WHILE TRAVELING AT 50-60MPH THE SPEEDOMETER DROPS TO 0 AND THE TRANSMISSION SLAMS DOWN TO FIRST GEAR AND THEN SHOOTS RIGHT BACK UP TO SIXTH GEAR. IT HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND STATE HIGHWAYS. ON ONE OCCASION THE SPEEDOMETER STAYED AT ZERO EVEN THOUGH I WAS STILL TRAVELING AT 45-50 MPH AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS STUCK IN 5TH GEAR. EVEN WHEN I PULLED OVER AND PUT THE CAR INTO PARK IT WAS STILL TELLING ME IT WAS IN 5TH GEAR. THIS CONDITION IS VERY SCARY ESPECIALLY WHEN TRAVELING AT A FAIRLY HIGH RATE OF SPEED. I CAN'T IMAGINE WHAT MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED IF I WAS TOWING MY BOAT WHEN THIS SUDDEN DOWN SHIFT OCCURRED. MY TWO YOUNGEST CHILDREN WERE IN THE VEHICLE WITH ME ON THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE, WHICH MADE THE SITUATION MORE NERVE RACKING. MY DEALER DIAGNOSED IT AS A FAULTY OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR ON THE TRANSMISSION LEAD FRAME. I KNOW THERE IS A RECALL FOR FORD F150'S 2011 AND 2012 MODEL YEARS WITH THIS SAME EXACT ISSUE. I THINK THIS RECALL NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED TO 2013 MODELS AS THE SAME THING IS STILL OCCURRING IN THIS MODEL YEAR. I HAVE A VIDEO OF TWO OCCURRENCES IF YOU WOULD WANT ME TO SUBMIT IT BUT IT LOOKS LIKE I CAN ONLY UPLOAD PICTURES.
I SHUT MY ENGINE OFF, DUMP TRASH AND IT WOULD NOT START. THE ENGINE TURNED OVER, BUT NOT START. WAITED A FEW, MINUTES, STARTED UP. NEXT DAY, THE ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING, GOT IT OFF THE ROAD, WAITED A FEW MINUTES, STARTED UP. BEFORE I COULD GET HOME, THE ENGINE DIED AGAIN. FINALLY RESTARTED IT GOT IT HOME AND HAD IT TOWED TO A FORD DEALERSHIP. AFTER WAITING 5 DAYS FOR REPAIR I INFORMED THE SERVICE MANAGER WHAT I THOUGHT THE PROBLEM WAS AFTER READING 17 PAGES OF 56, I FOUND 11 INSTANCES THAT MIRROR MY PROBLEM. BURNT FUEL PUMP FUSE. HAD TO BE RELOCATED AT A COST OF $249.19. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS.
A DRASTIC SHIFT FROM 5TH GEAR DOWN TO 1ST &/OR A REDUCTION IN SPEED BROUGHT ABOUT BY BRAKING, WITHOUT A CORRESPONDING DOWNSHIFT. SO YOU EITHER GET SLAMMED FORWARD BY SUDDEN DOWNSHIFT, OR CREEP THROUGH AN INTERSECTION IN 5TH GEAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES IN THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTHS.
WHEN ACCELERATING TO MERGING ON TO THE HIGHWAY IN THE SUMMER THE PAST TWO YEARS I HAVE HAD THE TRUCK LOOSE POWER AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASH ON AND OFF TIL IT CLEARS ITSELF FOR ABOUT 30 TO 60 SECONDS AFTER LETTING OFF THE GAS. IF YOU TRY TO GIVE IT GAS IT SHAKES THE HOLE TRUCK, THIS CAUSES A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHEN MERGING ON THE HIGHWAY LUCKY I HAD ENOUGH MEDIAN TO GO IN TO AVOID A WRECK. SUMMER OF 2018 AND 2019
WHILE IN MOTION ON A MAIN ROAD THE TRUCK SPONTANEOUSLY DOWNSHIFTED FROM 5TH GEAR TO THIRD GEAR AND IF NOT FOR THE SEATBELT WOULD HAVE THROWN ME THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REVEALED A P0720 CODE AFTER THIS HAPPENED AND THE TRUCK IS NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY.
WHILE IN MOTION ON CITY STREET, BRAKE WARNING ILLUMINATED AND BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR WHEN DEPRESSED WITH VIRTUALLY NO BRAKING ACTION. DEALER STATED BRAKE FLUID WENT INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND BRAKE MASTER. SERVICE DOCUMENT ATTACHED.
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 55MPH, A TRANSMISSION LINE APPARENTLY FAILED WITHOUT WARNING DUE TO RUST THROUGH. THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY STARTED SMOKING DUE TO THE FLUID CONTACTING THE EXHAUST. THE TRUCK STARTED TO HESITATE AND WITHIN SECONDS DROPPED TO 15 MPH. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF OF THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE HAS JUST OVER 72,000 MILES. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND FORD WILL NOT WARRANT THIS ISSUE. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THIS WAS SO COMMON, THE REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE ON BACKORDER THROUGH FORD. THE TRUCK IS STILL IN THE SHOP WAITING ON PARTS.
HARD SHIFT DOWN FROM HIGHER TO LOWER GEARS WHILE DRIVING. TRANSMISSION IS AN AUTOMATIC AND TRUCK WILL BE GOING 40-60 MPH AND ALL OF A SUDDEN DOWNSHIFT TO 1ST GEAR, CAUSING RAPID DECLINE IS SPEED, TIRES TO LOCK UP, AND TRUCK WILL GO INTO "LIMP" MODE. YOU WILL HAVE TO TURN THE TRUCK OFF AN ON AND LET IT SIT FOR A WHILE FOR IT TO CLEAR OUT. AT THE SAME TIME THE GAUGE PANEL WILL GO CRAZY AND START JUMPING UP AND DOWN IN SPEED AND RPM. WHEN FIXED THEY CHARGED FOR A GASKET, OIL, CONNECTOR, SCREEN ASY, TRANS KIT, AND OIL. THE NOTES FROM DEALERSHIP ARE: R+R VALVEBODY, OVERHAUL VALVEBODY AND REPLACE INTERNAL HARNESS, NEW FILTER AND GASKET, REFILL TRANS. APPROXIMATE COST $1400.00
I HAVE A 2013 FORD F150 FX2 AND WHEN DRIVING THE PAST FEW DAYS, THE "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" SIGNAL CAME ON AND I AUTOMATICALLY LOSE POWER STEERING IN THE TRUCK. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHEN STARTING THE TRUCK BUT ALSO WHILE MOVING AND DRIVING ON THE ROAD (ROUGHLY 40 MPH). LUCKILY, I WAS ON A LOW TRAFFIC ROAD TO WHERE I COULD GET OVER HOWEVER, THIS COULD BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. IF MY WIFE WAS DRIVING AT THE TIME, SHE WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO MANUALLY PULL THE STEERING WHEEL AND GET OFF THE ROAD AND POTENTIALLY GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. BASED ON RESEARCH, A LOT OF FORDS ARE EXPERIENCING THIS AND ACTION NEEDS TO BE TAKEN!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED FROM FOURTH GEAR TO FIRST GEAR AND THE REAR WHEELS SEIZED. THE CONTACT HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. AFTER APPROXIMATELY TWO MINUTES, THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND OPERATED NORMALLY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON A DAILY BASIS FOR TWO WEEKS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (FUTURE FORD OF SACRAMENTO, 4625 MADISON AVE., SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA, (916) 547-2285) FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT THE RESULTS WERE UNKNOWN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,200.
SUNROOF EXPLOSION. WHILE DRIVING WITH MY FAMILY ON I-75 THE SUNROOF SUDDENLY EXPLODED. FORTUNATELY THE COVER WAS SHUT OR GLASS WOULD'VE FLOWN INTO THE TRUCK. THERE WAS NO OVERPASS OR CARS NEARBY. THE PHOTOS SHOW THE GLASS EXPLODED OUT, NOT IN AS WOULD HAPPEN IF SOMETHING DROPPED ON IT FROM THE SKY. IT SOUNDED LIKE A BOMB WENT OFF. THE SUNROOF IS COMPLETELY SHATTERED.
SPORADIC SHIFTING. TRANSMISSION AND/OR OIL PRESSURE CAUSES THE TRUCK TO COMPLETLY SHUT DOWN ON ME WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY.
I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY ROAD GOING 40MPH. I WENT TO HIT THE BRAKES AT A STOPLIGHT AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. IT ENDED UP BEING THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER WAS LEAKING INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER.
UNABLE TO TAKE LUG NUTS OFF WHEEL DUE TO EXCESSIVE WEAR.
REAR DEFROST BUTTON QUIT WORKING WHILE IN MY DRIVEWAY HEATED SLIDING BACK GLASS AND HEATED MIRRORS STOPPED WORKING AS WELL AND FUSE IS GOOD. I CAN'T AFFORD TO GET IT ALL REPLACED IT SHOULD BE REPLACED BY FORD FREE OF CHARGE
OIL AND RADIATOR FLUID LEAKS CAUSING ENGINE SMOKING AND NAUSEATING ODOR WHEN HEATER TURNED ON WHILE ENGINE COLD OR COLD EXTERIOR TEMPS. COMPLETE LOSS OF ENGINE AND DRIVE POWER RANDOMLY LASTING 15-60SECS, THEN ALL NUMBERS IE: GAS MILAGE, SPEED, MILEAGE BECOME DASHES, SPEEDOMETER QUITS WORKING, ON HIGHWAYS AND CITY STREET. PULLING OVER SHUTTING OFF AND RESTART WILL RESET UNTIL NEXT RANDOM EPISODE. ROUGH JERKS AND OCCASIONALLY A BANG WITH JERKS (FEEL LIKE IT COMES FROM THE AXELS) USUALLY AT LOW SPEEDS. MORE OFTEN IN PARKING LOTS BUT IN TRAFFIC JAMS ON HIGHWAYS. ONCE TRANSMISSION RECALL COMPLETE IT RAN FANTASTIC FOR A WEEK AND A HALF. NOW IT'S WORSE THAN EVER AND ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON FOR A DAY AND THEN GOES OFF.
TRUCK SHIFTS INTO LOW GEAR AT HIGHER RATES OF SPEED AND ALL GAUGES SHUT OFF, ITS A 720 CODE, OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT, FORD HAD A RECALL THAT WENT TO MARCH OF 2012 AND MINE WAS BUILT IN OCTOBER AND NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL, THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND YOU COULD LOOSE CONTROL AT ANYTIME WHEN IT START TO DOWN SHIFT WHEN GOING 70MPH
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON THE HIGHWAY TRAVELING AT 65-70 MPH. SPEEDOMETER STOPS FUNCTIONING AND INDICATES 0 MPH. ODOMETER INDICATES A SERIES OF DASHES "-------". THE TRANSMISSION SPEED REMAINS AT CONSTANT RPM REGARDLESS OF PRESSURE APPLIED TO THROTTLE. INDICATOR FOR POWERTRAIN MALFUNCTION/REDUCED POWER/ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL MOMENTARILY APPEARS. DRIVER APPLIES PRESSURE TO THROTTLE AND HEARS THE ENGINE RESPONSE, BUT THERE'S NO APPARENT RESPONSE IN THE DRIVETRAIN. DRIVE COASTS OFF HIGHWAY AND SHIFTS FROM NEUTRAL BACK INTO DRIVE. IS ABLE TO GET BACK INTO A GEAR. TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTING SEEMS TO CORRECT THE ISSUE TEMPORARILY.
TRANSMISSION WOULD DOWNSHIFT FOR NO REASON. ALSO SOMETIMES IT WOULD TRY TO START OFF IN THE WRONG GEAR. TURNING THE ENGINE OFF AND ON RESETS THE ISSUES, BUT IT COME BACK. DEALER FIXED THE ISSUE, AROUND $1000.
FUEL PUMP CONTROL MODULE FUSE BURNED OUT (FUSE #27) AND TRUCK STOPPED RUNNING WHILE ON FREEWAY WITHOUT ANY WARNING.
VEHICLE EXPERIENCES HARD DOWNSHIFT FROM HIGHER TO LOWER GEARS WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, CAUSING REAR WHEELS TO SKID AND VEHICLE TO JERK. VEHICLE LOOSES POWER WITH RPM INDICATOR ON DASH SHOWING ENGINE REVVING AT OR ABOVE 1,500 TO 2,500 RPMS WHILE DRIVING ON LOCAL ROADS AND STREETS. WHEN STARTING FROM A STOPPED POSITION THE ENGINE RPMS WILL CLIMB TO 1,500 TO 2,000 AND THE VEHICLE WILL NO MOVE. THE WRENCH INDICATOR HAS COME ON 3 TIMES BUT GOES OFF IF VEHICLE IS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED. ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE ELECTRONIC CONTROL SYSTEM DOES NOT STORE ANY CODES TO INDICATE THE VEHICLE HAS EXPERIENCED ANY PROBLEMS. HAVE TAKEN VEHICLE TO LOCAL FORD DEALER ON 4 OCCASIONS ONLY TO BE INFORMED THAT NO CODES WERE PRESENT AND VEHICLE DID NOT ACT UP WHILE IN THEIR POSSESSION. ALSO INFORMED BY DEALER THAT UNLESS CODE IS DISPLAYED DURING DIAGNOSTIC TEST FORD MOTOR WILL NOT PAY FOR REPAIRS UNLESS CODE IS DISPLAYED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD DOWNSHIFT INTO A LOWER GEAR AND SLOW DOWN. THE RPMS INCREASED AND THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE ENGINE WOULD BLOW A ROD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (WATERTOWN FORD CHRYSLER, 1600 9TH AVENUE SE, WATERTOWN, SD 57201, (605) 886-5844) WHO OFFERED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE REPAIRS WERE NOT COMPLETED AND THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DISCLOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED BY ANY RECALL. ONCE THE TRUCK IS IDLING, AFTER A FEW MOMENTS A WRENCH LOGO IS DISPLAYED AND ALL THE TACH GAUGES TURN OFF AND THE ACCELERATION IS SLUGGISH. SOMETIMES WHEN DRIVING THE TRUCK DOESN'T LEAVE 1ST GEAR OR IT'LL BOUNCE AROUND GEARS. WHEN THE TRUCK IS TURNED OFF AND THEN TURNED BACK ON, EVERYTHING CAN GO RIGHT BACK TO NORNAL. HAVING THIS ISSUE IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE IF THE VEHICLE STALLS IN TRAFFIC OR WORSE. MANY REPORTS ARE MADE ON THE INTERNET'S AND I HAVEN'T SEEN A RECALL. FUNNY HOW THE 2011-12 MODELS HAVE AN OASIS ON IT BUT NOT THE 2013 GRANTED IT'S PLAGUED BY THE SAME ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO FAMILY FORD (30 NJ-183, NETCONG, NJ) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUSE THAT CONNECTED TO THE FUEL PUMP FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REWIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND TRANSFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,000. *TT
ON 6-26 OF THIS YEAR 2018, WE GOT INTO MY TRUCK TO GO TO TUESDAY NIGHT CHURCH SERVICE. AND AS I WAS WAITING FOR THE GARAGE DOOR TO OPEN, I PLACED MY TRANSMISSION IN REVERSE PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. AS I DID, THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I IMMEDIATELY PUT MY TRANSMISSION IN PARK. THE NEXT DAY I HAD IT TOWED TO A GARAGE FOR REPAIR. THE MASTER CYLINDER HAD FAILED AND ALL THE BRAKE FLUID HAD LEAKED INTO THE BOOSTER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED WITH NEW FORD PARTS BUT I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT EVEN THOUGH THE BRAKES ARE NOW WORKING FINE AGAIN FOR FEAR THEY COULD AGAIN FAIL AND SOMEONE COULD GET HURT OR KILLED.
WHILE DRIVING OUR FORD F 150 WE EXPERIENCED TOTAL BRAKE LOSS WHERE THE PEDDLE WENT TO THE FLOOR WITH NO STOPPING. WHEN BRAKE FLUID WAS CHECKED THE WAS NONE, NOR WAS THERE A LEAK OR ANY SIGN OF A LEAK. THE F 150 WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE COULD NOT SEE ANY SIGN OF A LEAK. HE ADDED BRAKE FLUID AND IT WAS DISAPPEARING ABOUT AS FAST AS HE WAS PUTTING IT IN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A SECOND MECHANIC WHICH WAS ULTIMATELY THE SAME OUTCOME, ADDED FLUID, FLUID DRAINED, NO LEAK AND STILL NO BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE HE TOLD US THAT THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER WAS LEAKING INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND OUR TRUCK WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. OUR TRUCK IS A 2013 VEHICLE THAT WAS MANUFACTURED AT THE DEARBORN PLANT IN MICHIGAN. I STILL HAVE THE STICKER FROM THE TRUCK WHEN WE BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW. THIS VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP GENESEE VALLEY FORD IN AVON, NY. NO WORK HAS BEEN DONE TO THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY. THE MECHANIC SHOPS THAT LOOKED AND WITNESSED THE VEHICLE AFTER THE BRAKES WENT OUT ARE BEECHES AUTOMOTIVE IN LEICESTER, NY AND AL'S AUTOMOTIVE IN LEICESTER, NY. THE CURRENT COST TO FIX THIS IS NORTH OF $400 AND THE DEALERSHIP IS ORDERING PARTS FOR IT NOW. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS SINCE IT IS THE SAME REASON THAT FORD HAD TO RECALL THE OTHERS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE GEAR SHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT HAD TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON FOR IT TO OPERATE NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO STRIETER LINCOLN MOTOR COMPANY (520 W KIMBERLY RD, DAVENPORT, IA 52806, (563) 391-1500) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED, BUT THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000.

TRUCK WOULD DROP OUT OF GEAR WHILE DRIVING, AND MOST GAUGES STOPPING WORKING WHEN THIS HAPPENED. HAPPENED 3 TIMES BEFORE I GOT A REPAIR. 2 OF THOSE TIMES WERE AT ABOUT 30-35 MPH AND THE TRANSMISSION CAME OUT OF 4TH OR 5TH AND JUMPED INTO 1ST GEAR, THROWING THE TRUCK AROUND A BIT. I HAPPENED TO BE SLOWING DOWN EACH OF THOSE TIMES AND IT DIDN'T BECOME A SAFETY CONCERN. THE 3RD TIME WAS AT LEAST 60 MPH ON A FREEWAY, BUT THIS TIME THE TRANSMISSION LUCKILY STAYED IN NEUTRAL, AND I COASTED TO A STOP AT THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY. THIS TIME GAVE A DTC OF P07022. I SHUT OFF THE ENGINE AND EVERYTHING WORKED OK AFTER RESTARTING. THIS IS WHEN I STOPPED DRIVING THIS TRUCK UNTIL I COULD GET IT REPAIRED. TOOK TO DEALER, THEY REPLACED THE LEAD FRAME CONNECTOR, BUT NOT THE ENTIRE LEAD FRAME. SHIFTING HAS BEEN A LITTLE WEIRD AFTER THAT, I MAY HAVE TO TAKE IT IN AGAIN.
TRANSMISSION RANDOMLY DOWNSHIFTS WHILE DRIVING, CAUSING WHEEL LOCKUP AND UNSAFE CONDITION
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, I WENT TO PASS ANOTHER CAR. THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTED, AND THE RPM INCREASED, UNTIL THE ENGINE/CAR BEGAN SHUDDERING AND SLOWED DOWN, WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BLINKING. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY AT THE NEAREST EXIT, AND AFTER A PERIOD OF TIME IN IDLE, THE ENGINE REGAINED ITS NORMAL IDLE SPEED AND OPERATION. CHECKING CODES PULLED UP A P0302, INDICATING A CYLINDER 2 MISFIRE. NO ISSUES WERE FOUND WITH THE SPARK PLUGS, COIL OR CABLES FOR CYLINDER 2. THIS IS A DANGEROUS FAILURE THAT APPEARS TO BE AFFECTING OTHER OWNERS OF THIS TRUCK, AND COULD CAUSE POTENTIAL FOR INJURY OR DEATH, IF THE ENGINE STALLS AT THE WRONG TIME.
WAS TOWING A SMALLER PICK UP ON A CAR CARRIER APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT APROX 30 FEET IN FRONT OF ME AT ABOUT 40 MPH . A CAR IN THE LANE TO MY RIGHT PULLED INTO MY LANE & I APPLIED MY BREAKS A BIT HARDER NOW THAT I HAVE LESS ROOM TO STOP. MY TRUCK DID NOT SLOW DOWN ANY, I PUSHED THE BREAK PEDDLE TO THE FLOOR & STILL WASN'T SLOWING DOWN. I PUSHED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO THE FLOOR YET STILL COLLIDED WITH THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME, CAUSING SERIOUS DAMAGE TO BOTH VEHICLES. AFTER MY TRUCK WAS REPAIRED I PICKED IT UP AT 6PM ONE EVENING & THE NEXT MORNING CALLED BACK SAYING SOMETHING WAS SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH MY TRUCK. IT WAS RANDOMLY SLOWING DOWN & SPEEDING UP OUT OF MY CONTROL & HEARING A ODD NOISE FROM THE ENGINE AREA. 4 HOURS LATER I SLAMMED INTO ANOTHER CAR BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT SLOW DOWN & STOP.

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
AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS MPH DROPS TO ZERO TRANSMISSION SHIFTS TO 5TH GEAR AIRBAG AND SEATBELT LIGHTS COME ON. TO RESET TRUCK MUST BE STOPPED TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. OTHER TIMES SPEEDOMETER IS ERRATIC AND TRANSMISSION SHIFTED ERRATIC ALSO EVEN TO FIRST GEAR AT HWY SPEEDS.
I WAS DRIVING ROUGHLY 30 MPH DOWN A RESIDENTIAL STREET WITH SOME LOOSE ROCKS (DUE TO A RECENT STORM) WHEN MY F150 SUDDENLY DROPPED INTO FIRST GEAR CAUSING MY REAR WHEELS TO LOCK AND SLIDE A BIT. I WAS GOING STRAIGHT AND THERE WAS NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY GOING ON.
VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE DURING WIDE OPEN THROTTLE ALMOST CAUSING ACCIDENT ON HIWAY. PROBLEM HAPPENED OVER AND OVER. FOUND THE 100,000 MILE SPARK PLUGS FAILED
VEHICLE EXHIBITED A CRANK NON-START CONDITION. FUSE 27 WAS EXAMINED AND FOUND TO BE MELTED. THESE TWO OBSERVATIONS SATISFY FORD'S CONDITIONS OF TSB 15-0137. FORD KNOWS THIS IS AN ISSUE WITH THEIR DESIGN AND OFFERS A FUSE RELOCATION KIT (EL3Z-14293-A). THE FUSE WAS MELTED FROM POOR FUSE BOX CONTACT DESIGN. THANKFULLY, THIS HAPPENED ON STARTUP AND NOT WHILE THE TRUCK WAS IN MOTION.
TRUCK WAS HAVING ISSUES WITH RANDOMLY DISENGAGING FROM CRUISE CONTROL, LOSS OF POWER FROM A STOP, AND ERRATIC DOWNSHIFTING. ON THE HIGHWAY THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD DISENGAGE, SPEEDOMETER WOULD GO TO 0 THEN BACK TO ITS ACTUAL SPEED. FROM A STOP SIGN/STOP LIGHT, WHEN THE LIGHT WOULD TURN GREEN THE TRUCK WOULD SPIT AND SPUTTER, SHIFTING ERRATICALLY, RPM WOULD GO UP BUT NO POWER. WHEN CRUISING AROUND 45MPH TRUCK DOWNSHIFTED FOR NO REASON CAUSING A LOUD CLUNKING SOUND, THIS HAPPENED TWICE CONSECUTIVELY. TOOK IS TO SIMMONS ROCKWELL TO GET IT DIAGNOSED, AFTER I HAD ALREADY RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND KNEW WHAT IT WAS, AND THEY REPLACED THE MOLDED LEAD FRAME IN THE TRANSMISSION. THIS WAS EXACTLY THE ISSUE THEY HAD THAT CAUSED THE RECALL ON THE 2011/2012 MODELS. THE REPAIR COST WAS @ $500. I WAS JUST READING AN ARTICLE WHICH STATED THAT THE NHTSA MAY ORDER ANOTHER RECALL WHICH WOULD INCLUDE THE 2013 MODEL.
AROUND 100K MILES. TRUCK ALL OF A SUDDEN STARTED TO HARD SHIFT. EVENTUALLY WOULD THROW ORANGE WRENCH LIGHT AND SPEEDOMETER WOULD QUIT WORKING AND WOULD HAVE TROUBLE GETTING THE SPEED UP AS IF IT WERENT SHIFTING. AIR BAG LIGHT WILL COME AND STAY ON. A REBOOT WOULD TAKE THESE PROBLEMS AWAY TEMPORARILY. I'VE READ SAME OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED SAME ISSUES ONLINE ON THE F150 FORUM.
BOUGHT THE TRUCK IN SEPTEMBER 2015 WITH 60,000 MILES ON IT.NOW I HAVE 101159 MILES ON IT NOW. AT ABOUT 98,000 MILES MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I LOST ACCELERATION POWER WHEN FIRST TAKING OFF FROM A STOP OR IF I GET ON THE GAS THE TRUCK HESITATES AND WILL EITHER ACCELERATE SLOW OR WON'T ACCELERATE AT ALL. ALMOST GOT IN AN ACCIDENT ABOUT A WEEK AGO WHEN MERGING ONTO THE FREEWAY DO TO LOST POWER. CONTACTED A MECHANIC AND HE CAME PICKED THE TRUCK UP AND RAN TESTING ON IT AND COUPLE HOURS LATER CALLED BACK AND SAID MY TIMING CHAINS AND PHASERS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WITH THAT SAID IT WILL COST ME $3,000-4,000 TO GET THIS FIXED AND I SIMPLY DO NOT HAVE AN EXTRA COUPLE THOUSAND DOLLARS TO SHELL OUT FOR THIS FIX . I HAVE BEEN DOING A LOT OF SEARCHING AND HAVE BEEN FINDING THAT A TON OF PEOPLE HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM AND WHEN THEY CONTACT FORD, FORD IS BASICALLY SAYING THEY ARE SOL AND HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THE FIX. I STILL OWE $22,000 AND THOUGHT ABOUT TRADING IT IN FOR SOMETHING ELSE BUT FEEL THEY WILL KNOCK $4,000 OFF WHAT THE VEHICLE IS WORTH. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO AT THIS POINT. PLEASE HELP!!!
