TRUCK WENT IN TO "LIMP MODE" WHILE ACCELLERATING TO GET ON HIGHWAY. VEHICLE DECELLERATED. WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON. VEHICLE WAS SHUT DOWN AND TOWED. FOUND THROTTLE BODY AND MOTOR ASSYMBLY DEFECTIVE
THE BRAKES WERE SCRUBBING. DIDN'T HAVE ANY BRAKES. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER BUT TOLD US IT WAS NOT IN A RECALL. THE SAME PROBLEM EXISTED WITH THIS TRUCK AS WITH THE TRUCKS THAT WERE RECALLED. WHY WASN'T M Y TRUCK INCLUDED IN THE RECALL? THIS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY.
UPON START UP, WHEN LEAVING WALMART PARKING LOT HILL DESCENT CONTROL FAULT AND SERVICE ADVANCE TRAC CAME ON THE DISPLAY. I LOST ALL POWER STEERING!!! AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION, THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE.. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN! IF THIS HAPPENED AT HIGH SPEED IN A CORNER THIS COULD BE DEADLY!!! THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY FORD! MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE! NEEDS TO BE RECALLED....I AM TAKING IT TO LOCAL FORD DEALER ASAP!
WHILE DRIVING SATURDAY MORNING AROUND 7 AM ON MAY 26, 2018 MY BRAKE FLUID LIGHT CAME INTO THE DASH. WHEN I PRESSED ON MY BRAKES I NOTICED THERE WAS NOT MUCH RESISTANCE WHEN PRESSING THEN THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I WAS FIRST ON RT37 IN RHODE ISLAND HEADING TOWARDS CRANSTON WHEN I NOTICED THE LIGHT AND EXITED IMMEDIATELY WHEN I THEN FOUND THAT MY BRAKES WERE NO LONGER WORKING. PER MY MECHANIC -THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER IS LEAKING FLUID INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER DEPLETING THE BREAK FLUID IN THE PRIMARY RESERVOIR MINIMIZING BRAKING CAPABILITIES. AFTER LEARNING WHAT THE PROBLEM WITH MY TRUCK WAS I RESEARCHED ANY RECALLS. PER THE NHTSA THE SAME ISSUE ALREADY RECALLED ON MAY 26 2016 FOR 271000 OF THE SAME TRUCK MAKE MODEL AND YEAR. FORD IS DENYING THAT MY PERSONAL VEHICLE IS INVOLVED IN THE RECALL. THE TRUCK HAS ALL MAINTENANCE REQUIRED AND APPROXIMATELY 53000 MILES, FAR UNDER THE ESTIMATED TIME A PROBLEM LIKE THIS SHOULD ARISE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. WHILE PULLING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THE CONTROL PANEL ILLUMINATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURES RECURRED. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO DAVIDSON FORD (18621 US-11, WATERTOWN, NY 13601) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC RACK AND PINION FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE CONTACT PURCHASED THE PARTS AND THE DEALER PERFORMED THE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,383.
DRIVING IN TRAFFIC FRIDAY OF THE LONG MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND, TRAVELING AT 75MPH, NO WARNING MY F150 STALLS. FINALLY GET PULLED ALL THE WAY TO THE SHOULDER. AFTER SITTING FOR AN HOUR AND GETTING HELP, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE FUSE FOR THE FUEL RELAY HAD MELTED. 50 CENT PART COULD HAVE CAUSED A DEADLY CRASH! WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL ON THIS? MECHANIC THAT WORKED ON MY F150 SAID THIS IS ABOUT THE 12TH ONE HE HAD WORKED ON. I ALSO SEE THAT FORD HAS ISSUED A TSB ON THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM.
FAILURE OF MASTER CYLINDER WITH NO WARNING. ONLY INDICATION WAS A MESSAGE INDICATING LOW FLUID LEVEL AND BRAKE LIGHT ON DASH ILLUMINATING. SOME BREAKING ABILITY WAS RETAINED BUT WAS DIMISHED. ISSUE OCCURRED WHILE ONE A LIGHTLY TRAFFICED LOCAL ROAD. REFILLING OF FLUID ONLY RESULTED IN SAME LOSS OF FLUID AND WARNING LIGHTS REOCCURRING A FEW MOMENTS LATER. DIAGNOSED AS FAILED MASTER CYLINDER AND FLUID ACCUMULATION IN BRAKE BOOSTER ALSO NECESSITATED ITS REPLACEMENT, WITH BOTH REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THIS IS A MY13 3.5 L ECOBOOST MODEL WITH A JULY 17 2013 BUILD DATE, AND 59500 MILES. THIS IS JUST 2 WEEKS OUTSIDE OF EFFECTED VEHICLES PREVIOUSLY RECALLED FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE.
BRAKES DO NOT STOP TRUCK ,THE PEDAL PUSHES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, START TO GET A WHEEL VIBRATIONS AS VEHICLE SLOWS. WILL NOT STOP IN A PANIC SITUATION. VEHICLE IS DRIVEN MOSTLY CITY AT SPEEDS OF 35 TO 40 MILE PER HOUR. SEEMS MORE PRONOUNCED ON HILLS AND COMING TO A LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. VEHICLE JUST TURNED 20,000 MILES, HAVE ALREADY REPLACED BRAKES AND ROTORS A TWO YEARS AGO .
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. WHEN THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE BRAKES SEIZED. ALSO, THE "CHECK BRAKES" WARNING INDICATOR AND THE FLUID INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED CARBONE FORD AT (802) 442-2888 (897 N BENNINGTON RD, BENNINGTON, VT 05201) AND WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING ENGINE CONTINUES RUNNING BUT SUDDENLY DISCONTINUES MOVEMENT OF VEHICLE. AFTER COUPLE MINUTES WITH ENGINE OFF VEHICLE WILL RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. HAS HAPPENED TWICE, ONCE ON NEIGHBORHOOD STREET WHEN TURNING CORNER AND SECOND TIME ON FREEWAY TRAVELING ABOUT 60MPH.
THE TIMING CHAIN STRETCHED CAUSING MY ENGINE TO MISS TIME. I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF A FORD DEALER THAT IF THIS WAS AVOIDED LONG ENOUGH IT COULD HAVE BLOWN MY ENGINE. ALSO WHILE DISCUSSING THIS ISSUE WITH THE SERVICE MECHANIC HE INFORMED ME HE SEES THIS ISSUE FREQUENTLY. THIS TELLS ME THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT IS BRINGING GROSSLY IGNORED BY FORD.
MY TRUCK HAD 3 SEPARATE INCIDENCES, THE FIRST TWO TIMES THE TRUCK WOULD DOWNSHIFT WITHOUT WARNING AND THE TACHOMETER WOULD JUMP AROUND SPORADICALLY WHILE THE TRUCK LURCHED. THE THIRD INCIDENT WOULD BE THAT TAKING OFF FROM A COLD START THE VEHICLE WOULD START OUT IN 5TH GEAR AND THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD NOT MOVE FROM 0.
MY 2013 FORD F150 WILL SHIFT INTO DIFFERENT GEARS WHILE DRIVING CAUSING THE TRUCK TO LOCK UP. I WAS DRIVING 65 MPH DOWN THE INTERSTATE THIS MORNING WHEN IT SHIFTED INTO 1ST GEAR CAUSING MY TIRES TO LOCK UP AND SKID ALL OVER THE ROAD. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET IT OFF THE ROAD BEFORE CRASHING. I HAVE FILE WITH YOU ABOUT THIS BEFORE AND IT HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT THE FORD COMPANY HAS NOT TAKEN CARE OF THIS PROBLEM NOR HAVE THEY TAKEN CARE OF A SECOND RECALL FOR ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH THIS TRUCK BOTH OF THESE PROBLEMS TOGETHER HAVE ALMOST CAUSE 3 VERY NEAR ACCIDENTS FOR ME THE MOST RECENT I WAS PULLING A TRAILER AND ENTERING AND ON RAMP TO INTERSTATE I-94 ON ENTERING AS NORMAL I TRIED TO EXHILARATE TO HIGHWAY SPEED WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN ALL POWER TO THE DRIVE TRAIN STOPPED AND THE TRUCK WENT INTO A NATURAL MODE (LIKE PUSHING THE CLUTCH IN ON A STANDARD SHIFT TRANSMISSION) AT THAT POINT I WAS IN THE DRIVE LANE RIGHT SIDE BUT 2 SEMIS ONE PASSING THE OTHER WERE BARROWING DOWN ON ME I HAD TO CUT SHARPLY TO THE RIGHT AND OFF THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY TO KEEP FROM BEING HIT BUY ONE OF THE SEMI'S THE FORD COMPANY STATED THEY WOULD HAVE THE PARTS AND THE SOFT WEAR TO FIX THIS PROBLEM BY THE 2ND QUARTER OF 2019 IT IS NOW THE SECOND HALF AND THE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO GET WORSE IT NOW CLUCKS WHEN SHIFTING UP FROM 3 TO 4 AND SOMETIMES DOWN SHIFTING AND WHEN TAKEN YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN THEN PUSH ON THE GAS PEDAL AGAIN THE TRANS WILL CLUNK AGAIN WHEN I TEST DROVE THIS TRUCK BEFORE I BOUGHT IT I TOLD THEM THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE DRIVETRAIN AND THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT THAT I NEEDED TO LEARN HOW TO DRIVE A SIX SPEED TRANSMISSION THE THING ABOUT THAT AND THEY DON'T KNOW ME BEFORE I RETIRED I WAS THE FLOOR AND OPERATIONS MANAGER FOR THE COMMUNITY GARAGE OF BATTLE CREEK MICH. I HAVE HAD THIS TRUCK IN TO THEM 2 DIFFERENT TIMES AND 2 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS PLUS I.VE TAKEN IT IN 3 OTHER TIMES BUT AFTER MAKING AND APPOINTMENT AND TELLING THEM I WOULD NEED A LONER WHICH THE WARRANTY COVERS THEN WHEN I GET THERE NO LONER PLUS I WOULD HAVE TO PAY A $100 FEE ON THE WARRANTY FOR THE THING THEY NEVER FIXED (19V-075)
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE CHASSIS FELT LOOSE. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING NEXT TO A LARGER VEHICLE AND THE AIR FROM THAT VEHICLE WOULD DRAW THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CLOSER, ALMOST CAUSING A CRASH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE FELT THE LOOSEST AND IT WAS DIFFICULT TO DRIVE WITH A TRAILER ATTACHED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000.
WHILE DRIVING 75MPH VEHICLE SHIFTED FROM 6TH TO 3RD ON THE HIGHWAY. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER PUTTING INTO PARK AND TURNING OFF TRUCK AND RESTARTING IT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS OFF AND VEHICLE DROVE FINE FOR ABOUT ANOTHER WEEK. THIS TIME, WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE SHIFTED FROM 6TH TO 4TH AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS ABLE TO PULL THE CODE SINCE TURNING THE TRUCK ON AND OFF DIDNT RESET ANYTHING. THE CODE WAS P0720 OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR "LEADFRAME". ODOMETER, MPH, SPEED, TRIP, FUEL USAGE DID NOT WORK. RPMS WORKED AND THE GEAR I WAS IN WORKED.
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK TODAY, AND MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN, MY VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. THAT IS, THE ENGINE DIED, THE POWER STEERING DIED, AND THE BRAKES DIED WHILE THE TRUCK CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LANE. LET ME REITERATE - THE TRUCK COMPLETELY DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND THERE WAS A COMPLETE LOSS OF CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE. HAD THERE BEEN ANOTHER VEHICLE, OBJECT, OR PERSON IN FRONT OF ME, I WOULD HAVE LIKELY COLLIDED WITH THEM (THANKFULLY THE ROAD WAS EMPTY) RESEARCH HAS LEAD ME TO FIND THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH FORD AND THE F150 SERIES FROM YEARS 2010 TO APPROXIMATELY 2014. FUSE NUMBER 27 IN THE ENGINE FUSE BOX IS UNDERSIZED FROM THE FACTORY AND MELTS DUE TO THE INABILITY TO HANDLE THE AMPERAGE. I FOUND MINE MELTED AFTER TODAY AS WELL. FORD HAS "ADDRESSED" THIS ISSUE WITH A TSB (FORD TSB-15-0137 SEE ATTACHED) WHICH IT CHARGES CUSTOMERS FOR TO REPLACE THE FUSE AND WIRING FOR THE FUSE WITH A NEW, UP SIZED FUSE AND WIRES. THEY DO NOT COVER THIS FREE OF CHARGE UNLESS YOUR TRUCK IS UNDER WARRANTY. AS THIS IS A GLARING SAFETY ISSUE THAT NUMEROUS PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED, I ASK THAT THE NHTSA INVESTIGATE THIS AND HAVE FORD INITIATE A RECALL ON THE AFFECTED VEHICLES, AND MAKE THE REPAIR FREE OF CHARGE TO CUSTOMERS. THIS ISSUE IS A MANUFACTURING FLAW AND ONE THAT HAS THE ABILITY TO CAUSE LOSS OF LIFE AND PROPERTY DUE TO FAILURE TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. A BRAKE FAILURE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AFTER THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V345000 (SERVICE BRAKES), BUT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL FORD DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
VEHICLE BRAKES FAILED COMPLETELY WITH NO WARNING. BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AS I APPROACHED A STOP LIGHT WITH 2 CARD IN FRONT OF ME, I WAS ABLE TO ENGAGE THE E BRAKE TO STOP THE TRUCK. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE INCIDENT THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AS WELL AS THE LOW BRAKE FLUID WARNING INDICATOR. I REFILLED THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR BUT AFTER DRIVING A FEW MILES THE ALARM SOUNDED AGAIN, ONCE AGAIN THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY. VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO OPERATE.
THE STEERING AUTOMATICALLY STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING ON EXPRESSWAY AT 70 MPH. AS I EXITED THE HIGHWAY, THE STEERING COUNTINULY WAS LOST OF POWER STEERING. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO MAKE THE TRUCK DRIVE HOME, BUT WAS VERY RISKY TO DRIVE TRYING TO AVOID DRIVING OFF ROAD, OR AVOIDING CAR ACCIDENT. I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO DRIVE INTO WORK TODAY, AND FEEL THIS TRUCK IT'S COMPLETELY NOT ROAD SAFE. THE FORD SERVICE CENTER HAS TOLD ME THE ELECTRIC STEERING SYSTEM EPAS NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, AND I AM NOT WILLING TO PAY FOR THIS SERVICE SINCE THE TRUCK HAS 45,000 MILES . I HAVE GOOGLED THIS EPAS ELECTRIC STEERING QUESTION, AND COME TO FIND OUT THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE IN ALL OF FORD PICK UP TRUCKS, WHICH FORD WILL NOT ADDRESS THIS MATTER. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO? KEEP DRIVING ? WHAT WILL GEICO INSURANCE SAY ABOUT THIS IF I CAUSE AN ACCIDENT? WHO WOULD BE THE VICTIM? ME, THE OTHER DRIVER'S , FORD, AND GEICO PAYS THE BILL? THANKS ,
MY TRUCK DOWNSHIFTS WITHOUT CAUSE, SOMETIMES TO 1ST GEAR, AND ON ONE OCCASION MY WHEELS SKIDDED (WHICH WAS WITNESSED BY MY NEIGHBOR WHO WAS WALKING HIS DOG AND WAS STARTLED BY THE SKID). THE SPEEDOMETER GOES TO ZERO EVEN WHILE MOVING - I HAVE VIDEO FROM MY CELL PHONE OF THIS HAPPENING WHILE GOING APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH ON THE FREEWAY. WHEN THIS HAPPENS ALL OTHER GAUGES GO TO DASHES, INCLUDING THE MILEAGE, MPG, ETC. THE TRANSMISSION WILL SLIP INTO 2ND AND 5TH GEARS AND WILL NOT GO TO ANY OTHER GEARS. IT SOMETIMES REMAINS IN 3RD GEAR EVEN AT A DEAD STOP. TURNING THE TRUCK COMPLETELY OFF SOMETIMES "RESETS" THINGS, BUT ONLY TEMPORARILY. I HAVE CONTACTED A DEALER ABOUT THIS AND THEY LOOKED UP MY VIN AND TOLD ME THERE ARE NO RECALLS FOR MY TRUCK YEAR - EVEN THOUGH THE SAME TYPES OF THINGS WERE OCCURRING WITH 2011-12 F150'S, AND THOSE ARE THE SUBJECT OF A RECALL. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE: IT HAPPENS WITHOUT WARNING, SOMETIMES ON THE FREEWAY TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEEDS, SOMETIMES WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT AND IT SHIFTS TO 3RD GEAR AND HARDLY WILL GET GOING. I CALLED FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND EXPLAINED EVERYTHING AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD REPORT TO NHTSA BUT SINCE IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THERE IS NO RECALL, I WOULD MOST LIKELY BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF REPAIR. I POINTED OUT A LETTER SENT BY NHTSA TO FORD ON JANUARY 18, 2018 ADDRESSING ISSUES WITH MY TRUCK MODEL AND YEAR, BUT THAT DID NOT CHANGE ANYTHING IN THE REPRESENTATIVE'S MIND. I BELIEVE THERE NEEDS TO BE CONSUMER PROTECTION ON THIS, BOTH FROM A SAFETY AND FINANCIAL ASPECT, BY NHTSA. I HAVE VIDEO OF WHAT HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY WITH THE TRUCK DOWNSHIFTING TO 5TH GEAR AND REMAINING THERE, AND WHEN TRAFFIC SLOWED THE TRUCK DOWNSHIFTED TO 2ND GEAR AND WOULD NOT SHIFT TO ANY OTHER GEAR. I HAD TO PULL OFF THE FREEWAY WITH HAZARD LIGHTS FLASHING AND TURN OFF THE TRUCK AND RESTART IT TO TRY TO "RESET" THINGS.
FORD USED CHEAP PLASTIC TRACKING FOR THEIR MOONROOFS. THESE COMPONENTS ARE NOW FAILING REGULARLY CREATING AN ISSUE WITH WATER LEAKING INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT ADVERSELY AFFECTING ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS AND POTENTIALLY AIRBAGS. ONCE THE TRACK SYSTEM IS DAMAGED, THE MOONROOF WILL NOT SEAL/CLOSE. THIS FAULT HAPPENED ON MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE WHILE THE TRUCK WAS IN MOTION.
ENGINE STALLS OUT PERIODICALLY. VERY DANGEROUS IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME WHILE IN MOTION NOT SITTING STILL. THIS IS THE ECO BOAST 6 CYLINDER ENGINE. HAS BEEN NUMEROUS REPORTS WITH OTHERS BUT FORD STILL WON'T ISSUE A RECALL ON THESE ENGINES. IT HAS 89350 MILES ON IT. I'M GOING TO CHANGE THE PLUGS & BOOTS THIS WEEKEND BUT I'M SURE THAT WILL NOT SOLVE MY PROBLEM. FORD IS BEING STUBBORN ON RECALLS. REAR GLASS SHATTERED DUE TO DEFROSTER ISSUE DURING REMOTE START. THIS ISSUE WAS NOT DO TO HUMAN ERROR AND SOLELY THE RESPONSIBILITY OF FORD MOTOR COMPANY'S DEFECT IN THE REAR DEFROSTER/GLASS
WHEN TURNING INTO A CURVE A SPEED 20 MPH AND ABOVE THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON AND THE VAN PULLS HARD TO THE LEFT. HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE FORD DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS TOLD THAT IT IS NOT PUTTING ANY ERROR CODES INTO THE COMPUTER AND THAT THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS CAUSING IT. VAN IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE.
LEFT BRAKE LINE COLLAPSED RESULTING IN THE REPLACEMENT OF BRAKE LINE, CALIPER, BRAKE PADS AND ROTOR. I WAS DRIVING, APPLIED BRAKES AND HEARD SQUEALING. THIS WAS ON HIGHWAY DRIVING COMING INTO THE CITY. THE NEXT MORNING TOOK DROVE THE TRUCK TO MECHANIC AND WAS TOLD THESE ITEMS HAD BEEN AFFECTED BY THE COLLAPSE OF THE BRAKE LINE.
THE STEERING WHEEL ANCHOR BOLT 3/4 CAME LOOSE, CAUSING THE STEERING WHEEL TO ROCK UP AND DOWN WHEN SLIGHT HAND PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS FIRST HAPPENED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A HIGHWAY. THE STEERING WHEEL ALSO COULD BE ROCKED UP AND DOWN WHILE STATIONARY WITH THE ENGINE NOT RUNNING. THE REPAIR COST FOR THIS WAS $208.32 EXCLUDING TAX.
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, PULLING A TRAILER AND THE LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. TURNED IT OFF THEN BACK ON AND IT WAS FINE FOR 2 BLOCKS THEN DID IT AGAIN. IT TOOK SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO GET IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY INFORMED IT IS ELECTRONIC THROTTLE BODY FAILURE.
TRANSMISSION RANDOMLY SHIFTS, SOMETIMES INTO 1ST GEAR EVEN AT 40 MPH. OCCASIONALLY, SPEEDOMETER, GAS GAUGE, GEAR INDICATOR ALL DIE AND A YELLOW WRENCH APPEARS ON THE DISPLAY. MY RESEARCH INDICATES IT MAY BE THE TRANSMISSION LEAD FRAME.
WHILE MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN AT AN INTERSECTION THE STEERING WHEEL VIOLENTLY TURNED TO THE RIGHT FORCING MY TRUCK TO SWERVE OFF THE ROAD. I HAD NO CONTROL OVER THE CAR AND COULD NOT GET THE STEERING WHEEL TO MOVE. IMMEDIATELY THE ADVANCETRAC WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL AS THE BATTERY WARNING LIGHT. I DID NOT LOSE POWER TO THE TRUCK BUT WAS ON ABLE TO TURN THE WHEEL. AFTER A COUPLE ATTEMPTS OF TURNING OFF THE TRUCK AND STARTING IT AGAIN I WAS ABLE TO GET STEERING BACK. I TRIED TO MAKE IT OFF OF THE FREEWAY ON RAMP BUT WAS ONLY ABLE TO MAKE IT A FEW FEET UNTIL THE STEERING FAILED AGAIN AND SWUNG THE CAR TO THE RIGHT. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO THE NEAREST FORD DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT THE STEERING GEAR FAILED. I WAS QUOTED $1950 FOR THE PART. THE TRUCK IS JUST SHORT OF 60K MILES AND BEING OUT OF WARRANTY THEY SAID ALL I CAN DUE IS FILE A REPORT. I AM HAVING TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS UNTIL MY REPORT IS REVIEWED. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS REPORTS OF THIS SAME PROBLEM HAPPENING TO OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME YEAR AND MAKE AS MY TRUCK AND THINK THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING (EPS) SEEMS TO START TO GO OUT/OFF INTERMITTENTLY WHEN MAKING TURNS OR DRIVING STRAIGHT. BECOMES EXTREMELY HARD TO CONTROL KIND OF LIKE THE OLD NON-POWER STEERING CARS. ONE MINUTE YOUR GETTING ASSISTED TURNING (HARD OR SLIGHT), A SECOND LATER MANUAL STEERING, THEN BACK TO ASSISTED. WHEN PASSING ANOTHER CAR THE EPS SEEMS TO EVEN NOT WANT TO BE CONSISTENT WHEN I JUST SLIGHTLY TURN THE WHEEL AT HIGH SPEED. AGAIN, IT IS INTERMITTENT BUT BECOMING MORE FREQUENT.
WHILE DRIVING THE TRUCK STEERING GOT LOCKED MAKING THE TRUCK UNSAFE TO DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY. WE TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL FORD DEALER, WHO COULD NOT EXPLAIN WHY THIS HAPPENED. THE DEALER ALSO INFORMED US THAT THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE SAME PART ON OTHER VEHICLES IN GUAM. ALSO, FORD HAS RECALLED 2014 F150S ASSEMBLED IN ONE PLANT FOR SIMILAR, IF NOT SAME PROBLEMS. WE BELIEVE THAT THIS REQUIRES FURTHER RESEARCH AND AN ACTION NEED TO BE TAKEN IMMEDIATELY BEFORE SERIOUS ACCIDENTS HAPPEN CAUSING LOSS OF LIFE. WE DID NOT GET A SATISFACTORY ANSWER FROM THE DEALER. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER THEY BROUGHT IT TO THE FORD ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND INFORMED THEM THAT THEY HAD TO PERFORM SAME WORK ON OTHER VEHICLES IN GUAM. I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ON RAMP TO MERGE WITH TRAFFIC AND MY TRUCK SHIFTED TO 1ST GEAR LOCKING UP THE BACK TIRES WHICH CAUSED ME TO ALMOST LOOSE CONTROL AND GET REAR ENDED BY THE PERSON BEHIND ME. CAUSE OF PROBLEM FOUND AT FORD DEALER WAS FAULTY MOLDED LEAD FRAME.
STARTED HAVING A PROBLEM YESTERDAY WITH THE STEERING CATCHING ON TURNS, IT FREEZES UP AND IS DIFFICULT TO TURN. HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT IT AND HE SAID THE ELECTRONIC STEERINIG ASSIST IS GOING BAD.
BOUGHT THE TRUCK USED ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO AND THE LEFT REAR AND PASSENGER RIGHT FRONT DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY WOULD NOT WORK. TOOK INTO THE SHOP AND THE DOOR LATCHES ON BOTH DOORS HAD TO BE REPLACED. NOW THE PASSENGER REAR DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK OR OPEN.
UNEXPECTED VEHICLE DOWNSHIFT. UNEXPECTEDLY DOWNSHIFTS WHILE DRIVING HIGHWAY SPEEDS. SPEEDOMETER WILL WAIVER ERRATICALLY OR BOTTOM OUT DOWN TO ZERO. GEAR INDICATOR WILL DROP TO 1ST, GO BACK TO 5TH, AND WAIVER ANYWHERE IN BETWEEN. VEHICLE COMES TO SUDDEN DROP IN SPEED WHICH BARKS THE TIRES AND THROWS THE DRIVER FORWARD.
WHILE DRIVING 45 OR 50 MILES PER HOUR THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTED FROM 6TH GEAR TO 1ST CAUSING THE WHEELS TO LOCK UP AND PUTTING ME INTO A SKID. THE REAR OF THE TRUCK FISHTAILED TO THE RIGHT HITTING A CURB. IF A CAR WAS PARKED THERE OR A PEDESTRIAN WAS WALKING, THINGS COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE!

THE VEHICLES IGNITION WAS TURNED OFF THEN THE MOTOR WAS RESTARTED WITH NO DIFFICULTY. THE WRENCH ICON WENT OFF AND VEHICLE RAN APPROPRIATELY.

THE BACK WINDOW, ON THE DRIVERS SIDE, SHATTERED WITH THE DEFROSTER ON WHEN ACTIVATED BY THE REMOTE START FUNCTION. IT WAS 25F, I PUT SOMETHING IN THE BACK OF THE TRUCK, LOCKED IT, HIT REMOTE START AND WALKED AWAY FOR ABOUT AN HOUR. I CAME BACK, OPENED THE BACK DOOR TO REMOVE WHAT I NEEDED AND SAW THE WINDOW WAS SHATTERED. THE TRUCK WAS SITTING IN A PARKING LOT OVERNIGHT AND HAD NOT MOVED.
MY ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING ASSIST IS NOT WORKING. AT A STOP OR LOWER SPEEDS IT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. AT HIGHER SPEEDS THE STEERING WHEEL IS STILL VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN OR CONTROL. THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL INSTANCES WHERE THE TRUCK IS VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL AND IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.
ON APRIL 14, 2018 I WAS DRIVING MY 2013 F-150 ON THE HIGHWAY APPROXIMATELY 70MPH IN THE RAIN WHEN THE BACK WHEELS SUDDENLY LOCKED UP AND I ABRUPTLY BEGAN STOPPING AND I LOST CONTROL, FISHTAILING TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT (ALMOST TO A SPIN), BARELY MISSING VEHICLES AROUND ME AND THE WALL TO THE LEFT. THE CAR BEHIND ME SOMEHOW VEERED AROUND AND MISSED ME TOO. AS THIS WAS HAPPENING THE TRUCK WAS MAKING A LOUD NOISE AS IT AUTOMATICALLY SLOWED DOWN. I SOMEHOW MADE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE I PARKED AND SHUT THE TRUCK OFF AND TRIED TO SETTLE DOWN AND GAIN MY COMPOSURE (...IT WAS SCARY, I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIE FROM THIS INCIDENT!). I RESTARTED THE TRUCK AND SLOWLY BEGAN DRIVE. IT SEEMED TO DRIVE OK SO I DECIDED TO TAKE THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE. AS I WAS DRIVING CAUTIOUSLY, WELL BELOW THE SPEED LIMIT ON A 40MPH ROAD THE ENGINE THEN SHUT DOWN AND I COULD SEE A SCREEN APPEAR WITH "LOW OIL PRESSURE". I GLIDED TO A PARKING LOT AND HAD MY TRUCK TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE I PURCHASED THE TRUCK (SUBURBAN FORD OF WATERFORD MICHIGAN). THE DEALER SAID THERE WAS A KNOCK IN THE ENGINE AND SAID IT THREW A ROD. THEY SAID THE ENGINE FAILURE WAS THE RESULT OF THE WHEELS LOCKING UP. I RESEARCHED AND FOUND THE EXACT SAME ISSUE ON 2013 F-150'S WITH THE TRANSMISSION AUTOMATICALLY DOWNSHIFTING TO A LOW GEAR CAUSING THE REAR WHEELS TO LOCK UP. THE DEALER SAID THEY WERE AWARE OF THIS AND SAID THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS ON 2011 AND 2012 F-150'S FOR THIS BUT NO RECALL PRESENTLY ACTIVE ON THE 2013 F-150. I PURCHASED A FULL WARRANTY FOR THE TRUCK WHEN NEW BUT THE TRUCK IS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY AT 110K MILES. THE DEALER SAID THEY COULD PROVIDE A REFURBISHED ENGINE FOR $10,000. THE WORST INSTANCE OF THIS HAPPENED AT 60 MPH WHEN IT ALL OF A SUDDEN SHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR CAUSING THE REAR TIRES TO SQUEAL, THE ENGINE TO REV, AND ALSO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE ERROR CODE OF A "WRENCH" POPPED UP ON THE DASHBOARD. IN MY RESEARCH, THE 2011 AND 2012 F150S HAVE ALREADY BEEN RECALLED BUT THIS NEEDS TO INCLUDE THE 2013 AS WELL. THE REPAIR IS THE "LEAD FRAME" IN THE TRANSMISSION AT A COST OF OVER $1,000. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.
ENGINE WILL SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING,ALL POWER TO STEERING IS LOST. IF I CAN'T DRIVE OFF THE ROAD IT IS STUCK ON TRAFFIC. FORD KNOW WHAT IS CAUSING THE LOSS OFF ENGINE POWER AND MUST BUY A RELOCATION FIX KIT TO FIX THE ISSUE.

BROUGHT BACK TO SHOP. STILL NO CODE, BUT THEY CHANGED SPARK PLUGS AND FUEL SYSTEM FLUSH. $440. WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD RPM UP TO 3000, WOULD NOT CHANGE IF I PRESSED ON GAS OR NOT, TRANSMISSION SHIFTING FROM 1-3 IN RANDOM ORDER. FELT LIKE BRAKES WERE LOCKING UP. DRIVING 50 MPH, RPM TO 5000, SPEEDOMETER FROM 50 TO ZERO BACK TO 50, BRAKES LOCK UP. PULLED OVER, SHUT OFF TRUCK, RESTARTED NO PROBLEM. TOOK TO DEALER I BOUGHT FROM, NO CODES COULD NOT HELP. TOOK TO FORD DEALER, SAID TRANSMISSION LEAD FRAME NEEDS REPAIR $900, AND MAIN REAR SEAL LEAKING BADLY. NEVER WAS I LOW ON OIL OR HAD AN OIL SPOT. LOOKED UP ONLINE SEVERAL HUNDRED OF SAME VEHICLE WITH THE SAME ISSUES. NO RECALL. FORD SAID NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE WARRANTY IS UP AND IT IS NOT THEIR PROBLEM NOW.
