BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER FAILED RESULTING IN TOTAL LOSS OF BRAKING. THE VEHICLE HAS A 5.0L V8 ENGINE. I WAS APPROACHING A LEFT TURN AND APPLIED PRESSURE TO MY BRAKE PEDAL AND LOST BRAKING AT THAT POINT. VERY LOW MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE WHEN IT FAILED, 14,813.
TRAVELLING AT 60 MPH ON INTERSTATE 5 SOUTH BOUND AT 0445 HRS I OBSERVED BRAKE LIGHTS APPROXIMATELY 1/4 MILE AHEAD. AS I APPLIED BRAKES THE PEDAL WAS SPONGY AND BRAKE FLUID WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. WHILE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC THE BRAKES FAILED. I WAS ABLE TO EXIT FREEWAY BY DOWN SHIFTING AND USING EMERGENCY BRAKE.I GOT TO A LOCAL RETAILER AND PURCHASED 1 12 OZ BOTTLES OF BRAKE FLUID AND PUT IT IN THE EMPTY RESERVOIR. AFTER PUMPING THE BRAKES I CHECKED THE FLUID LEVEL AND IT WAS EMPTY AGAIN. I PURCHASED 2 MORE 12 OZ BOTTLES AND ADDED THEM TO THE RESERVOIR. PUMPED THE BRAKES AND EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE. DECIDED TO GO HOME (SLOWLY) INSTEAD OF WORK. AFTER ABOUT 15 MILES THE BRAKE FLUID WARNING LIGHT COMES BACK ON. PULLED OVER AND BOUGHT TWO MORE 12 OZ BOTTLES TO PUT INTO MY NOW EMPTY RESERVOIR. DROVE 7 MILES TO MY HOME AND THE LOW WARNING COMES BACK ON. OPENED THE HOOD TO CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEVEL AND ONCE AGAIN IT IS EMPTY. LOOKED THROUGH ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND THE UNDERSIDE OF MY TRUCK AND THERE ARE NO VISIBLE FLUID LEAKS. THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM TO LIFE AND LIMB. I SEE I'M NOT THE ONLY PERSON WITH THIS ISSUE YET NOTHING AS FAR AS I CAN TELL IS BEING DONE ABOUT IT. DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO BE INJURED OR KILLED? 60 OZ OF BRAKE FLUID JUST TO DRIVE 22 MILES SAFELY IS NOT REASONABLE BY ANY STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION. FORTUNATELY MY WIFE OR ONE OF MY CHILDREN WEREN'T USING MY TRUCK WHEN THIS HAPPENED OR THE OUTCOME COULD HAVE BEEN VERY DIFFERENT. WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM MY LOCAL DEALER.
SEPTEMBER 2015 I-75 NORTH BOUND, ATTEMPTED TO PASS A VEHICLE AT 70 MPH AND HAD LOSS OF POWER, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND VIOLENT ENGINE SHAKING FOR 5-10 MINUTES ON THE HIGHWAY BEFORE SHAKING AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STOPPED. HAPPENED IN THE GAINESVILLE FL AREA CLOUDY BUT DRY DAY, HAD ALL SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE DONE IN VENICE FL PRIOR TO GETTING ON THE ROAD AT THE DEALERSHIP, 36,500 MILES. OCTOBER 2015 I-44 EAST BOUND TULSA OK, REENTERING THE INTERSTATE HAD LOSS OF POWER UNABLE TO ENTER AT APPROPRIATE SPEEDS, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND VIOLENT SHAKING. SLAMMED ON GAS AND THEN BRAKE PEDALS WITH NO DIFFERENCE. PULLED OFF THE INTERSTATE PARKED THE TRUCK, TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED AS SOON AS IT STARTED GUNNED THE GAS PEDAL RPM IN THE RED LINE AND AGAIN THE TRUCK LOST ALL POWER, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND SHOOK DID THIS FOR 30 MINUTES UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO START THE TRUCK AND GUN THE RPM INTO THE RED LINE WITHOUT LOSS OF POWER. CALLED DEALERSHIP ASKING ABOUT HYDROPLANING AND ENGINE LOSING POWER LIKE IN THE TUNDRA TRUCKS, WAS TOLD NO FORD DOES NOT HAVE THAT SAFETY FEATURE. COLD AND WET WEATHER CONDITIONS 40,000 MILES. NOVEMBER 2015 ON TX 82 WEST BOUND AT 80 MPH, 35 DEGREES AND RAINY CONDITIONS. ATTEMPTED TO PASS A SEMI AND HAD LOSS OF POWER, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND VIOLENT SHAKING WAS A PASSENGER IN THE TRUCK AT THIS TIME AND WAS STILL ABLE TO FEEL THE SHAKING FROM THE ENGINE. AGAIN LASTED 5-10 MINUTES. WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR OIL CHANGE BEFORE THE TRIP IN THE BEGINNING OF NOVEMBER. 43,000 MILES. HAVE BEEN TO MY DEALERSHIP ASKING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THERE MAY BE A RECALL BUT SO FAR NOTHING. I DO INTERSTATE DRIVING IN LESS THAN IDEAL CONDITIONS (RAIN, SNOW AND ICE) I NEED THIS TRUCK TO PREFORM THAT IS WHY I BOUGHT IT. I UNDERSTAND IT TAKES TIME AND MONEY TO MAKE A RECALL HAPPEN, BUT MAKE NO MISTAKE THIS IS GOING TO CAUSE ACCIDENTS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A RECARO PERFORMANCE SPORT VIBE (NA) REARFACING INFANT SEAT, MODEL NUMBER: 386.01.VIBE. THE SEAT WAS MANUFACTURED ON SEPTEMBER 24, 2014. THE SAFETY SEAT WAS BEING UTILIZED IN A 2013 FORD F-150 LIMITED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LATCH THAT ADJUSTED WITH THE HEIGHT OF THE CHILD COULD BE EASILY MANIPULATED BY A CHILD. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER IMMEDIATELY TO READJUST THE HARNESS. THE FAILURE WAS PERSISTENT. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE CHILD WAS ABLE TO REACH THE LATCH, WHICH WAS OFTEN CHANGED DUE TO THE CHILD USING HIS BODY WEIGHT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNKNOWN.
BRAKE ROTORS ARE WARPING QUICKLY; TWICE WITH ONLY 25,000 MILES. DEALER HAS TURNED ROTORS TWICE, BUT NOT WILLING TO REPLACE ROTORS.
LOW BRAKE FLUID WARNING CAME ON WHILE DRIVING. PULLED INTO GAS STATION, SAW BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR WAS NEAR EMPTY. THERE WAS NO SIGNS OF A LEAK. BOUGHT AND REFILLED BRAKE FLUID AND DROVE TO DEALERSHIP-1 MILE AWAY- BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR WAS 1/2 FULL. SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE, KNEW RIGHT OFF HAND WHAT THE ISSUE WAS, BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER FAILURE BLEEDING INTO THE RESERVOIR. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET TO ASERVICE C ENTER. TOOK DAYS TO GET PARTS. SEEMS LIKE A KNOWN ISSUE WITH FORD AND THEY'RE AVOIDING A RECALL...
ON SEPTEMBER 7, 2015 WHILE TURNING ONTO TRAFFIC THE TRUCK LOCKED UP IN FIRST GEAR AND WILL NOT SHIFT EVEN THOUGH THE ACCELARATOR WAS BEING PUSHED. THE TRUCK WAS JERKING BUT WILL NOT SHIFT GEARS. RPM AND SPEED REMAINED THE SAME AS WELL. THIS IS THE FOURTH TIME IT HAPPENS AND I HAVE TAKEN IN TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT BUT NOTHING IS DONE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DEFROSTER MALFUNCTIONED WITH A THREE PANEL SLIDING WINDOW. THE WINDOW PANEL BEHIND THE DRIVER SHATTERED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS THE THIRD TIME THAT THE SAME WINDOW PANEL SHATTERED SINCE OWNING THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER HASSETT FORD (3530 SUNRISE HWY, WANTAGH, NY 11793, 516-785-7800) STATED THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE ISSUE AND THERE WAS ALSO NO WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED YET. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000.
HAD TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING (50MPH)ON THE ROADWAY. USED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE (LEFT FOOT ON THE PEDAL, LEFT HAND ON THE HANDLE) TO MANIPULATE THE VEHICLE BRAKES TO GET HOME (AT 25-30MPH) WITHOUT INCIDENT.
ON 8/26/15 DROVE TRUCK TO TOWN HAD NO PROBLEMS. PARKED TRUCK AT HOUSE, SHORT TIME LATER WENT TO LEAVE AND LOW BREAK FLUID LIGHT WAS ON, CHECK UNDER THE HOOD AND IT WAS UNDER THE MIN MARK FOUND NO LEAKS. I WENT TO THE STORE PURCHASED A BOTTLE OF BREAK FLUID. ON 9/6/15 SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN, LIGHT CAME ON CHECKED AROUND RESERVOIR AND UNDER TRUCK AND CANNOT FIND A LEAK. WENT TO STORE PURCHASED ANOTHER BOTTLE. FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE HERE AND OTHER SITES ABOUT NO BREAKS WITH NO FLUID IN RESERVOIR AND NO LEAKS FOUND. I HAVE CONTACTED FORD DIRECTLY ABOUT INSPECTING AND REPAIRING UNDER WARRANTY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW BRAKE FLUID LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ENGAGE THE BRAKES, THE BRAKE PEDAL SANK TO THE FLOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,000.
WHILE BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT, I APPLIED THE SERVICE BRAKES AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE TRUCK CONTINUED IN REVERSE, STRIKING A CONCRETE WALL. I SECURED THE VEHICLE AND INSPECTED THE DAMAGE. UNDER THE HOOD, I LOOKED AT THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR. THERE WAS A VERY SMALL AMOUNT OF FLUID IN THE BOTTOM OF THE RESERVOIR. I LOOKED BACK AT THE DASHBOARD TO SEE IF THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED, IT WAS NOT. I HAD THE TRUCK TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED (NEW) IT TWO YEARS PRIOR, GOSCH FORD IN HEMET, CA. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN SAID THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER WERE BAD AND THAT THE FLUID HAD LEAKED BACK INTO THE BOOSTER. SINCE THE TRUCK WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, THE ESTIMATE FOR REPAIR WOULD BE $800. THE TRUCK HAS 36,443 MILES (443 MILES OVER THE BASIC WARRANTY FOR BRAKES). AS A SMALL BUSINESS OWNER, THE TRUCK IS USED TO TOW MY EQUIPMENT TRAILER NECESSARY FOR WORK. WITHOUT THE TRUCK, I DONT WORK AND MY BUSINESS SUFFERS. THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO SUBMIT THIS TO FORD FOR WARRANTY WORK STATING FORD IS VERY FIRM ON THIS ISSUE; EVEN ONE MILE OVER 36,000 WOULD BE REFUSED. I APPROVED THE REPAIRS SINCE I NEED THIS VEHICLE FOR MY LIVELIHOOD. AN HOUR LATER, THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CALLED SAYING THERE IS A NATIONWIDE BACKORDER ON THE MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKE BOOSTER (GO FIGURE), AND THE PARTS WOULDNT BE AVAILABLE FOR 5 WEEKS! SO, MY TRUCK (THE TRUCK I PURCHASED NEW TO ENSURE DEPENDABILITY, SAFETY AND RELIABILITY) SITS AT THE DEALERSHIP WAITING FOR THE REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR AN APPARENT COMMON BRAKE FAILURE PROBLEM. SINCE THEY ARE REPLACING THE DEFECTIVE PARTS WITH NEW (HOPEFULLY NOT DEFECTIVE) PARTS, I WILL CRINGE EACH TIME I STEP ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. AN INTERNET CHECK OF THIS PROBLEM REVEALED OTHERS WITH THE EXACT SAME SITUATION. WHY IS THERE NO RECALL? THIS IS A HUGE BRAKE FAILURE ISSUE.
I LOST ALL PRESSURE IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR.. WHEN I CHECKED THE BRAKE RESERVOIR, IT WAS EMPTY. I WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANY SIGNS OF LEAKING BRAKE FLUID. I REFILLED THE RESERVOIR AND WAS ABLE TO RESTORE PRESSURE BY PUMPING THE BRAKES. A FEW MINUTES BEFORE TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE, I WAS IN MOTION IN AN URBAN AREA, TOWING A BOAT EQUIPPED WITH SURGE BRAKES. I WAS TRAVELLING DOWN A STEEP HILL COULD FEEL THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELLING CLOSER TO THE FLOOR. I'VE HAD NO PROBLEMS SINCE BUT ROUTINELY CHECK THE BRAKE RESERVOIR TO ENSURE THERE IS SUFFICIENT BRAKE FLUID I DIDN'T REPORT IT UNTIL NOW, WHEN I HEARD THAT OTHER F150 OWNERS HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM.
TURNED ON REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER. AFTER 4 MINUTES OF OPERATION, LEFT SECTION (BEHIND LEFT REAR PASSENGER) OF REAR WINDOW EXPLODED (SHATTERED) WITH LOUD BANG. LOCAL FORD DEALER SAYS ISSUE IS NOT COVERED. INTERNET RESEARCH SAYS THIS HAPPENS ROUTINELY. GLASS REPLACEMENT COMPANY SAYS THEY WILL NOT WARRANT REPLACEMENT AS THE REPLACEMENT "GENUINE" FORD GLASS HAS BEEN "RED FLAGGED" IN THEIR SYSTEM DUE TO REPLACEMENTS FAILING FOR SAME REASON. (KNOXVILLE TN AREA). FYI: I AM A SENIOR QUALITY ENGINEER - AUTOMOTIVE PARTS MANUFACTURING.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 FORD F-150. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE IMMEDIATELY RECURRED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAY A "LOW BRAKE FLUID" WARNING LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH. I TESTED BRAKES AND THEY FELT OK AT THAT POINT. AFTER DRIVING SEVERAL MORE MILES THE BRAKE PEDAL TOOK MORE PRESSURE TO SLOW DOWN THE VEHICLE AND BY THE TIME I STOPPED THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I CHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR AND IT WAS EMPTY. I FOUND NO BRAKE FLUID LEAKING UNDER THE VEHICLE. I FILLED THE RESERVOIR WITH NEW BRAKE FLUID AND AFTER DRIVING 5 MILES THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. I STOPPED AND CHECKED THE RESERVOIR AND IT WAS EMPTY AGAIN. AFTER FILLING THE RESERVOIR AGAIN I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO A FORD DEALER. THEY TOLD ME THE MASTER CYLINDER HAD FAILED AND LEAKED THE BRAKE FLUID INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER UNIT AND CAUSED IT TO FAIL AS WELL. THE SERVICE ADVISER SAID THEY HAD 3 OTHER F-150 TRUCKS COME IN WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. THE FIX IS TO REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER AND THE BRAKE BOOSTER UNIT WITH NEW PARTS. HE CLAIMS THE NEW PARTS HAVE BEEN RE-ENGINEERED TO FIX THE ISSUE. I CHECKED THE INTERNET FOR THIS PROBLEM AND FOUND MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH AT LEAST 2011, 2012, 2013 FORD F-150 TRUCKS, SOME NEVER RECEIVED THE "LOW BRAKE FLUID" LIGHT BEFORE THE BRAKES FAILED. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SAFETY ISSUE AS THE BRAKES BECOME UNUSABLE WHEN THIS OCCURS. I TOW A LARGE TRAILER ON SOME STEEP GRADES AND THIS COULD BE A DISASTROUS ISSUE AS YOU CAN IMAGINE. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD DEFINITELY TRIGGER AN IMMEDIATE RECALL TO FIX THIS VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE.
WHILE MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN AT APPROXIMATELY 15 MILES AN HOUR THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND I GOT A "POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT" WARNING. NO PRIOR WARNING OF ANY PROBLEMS THAT THIS MIGHT BE ABOUT TO HAPPEN. FORTUNATELY ONE OF MY TEENAGE DAUGHTERS WERE NOT DRIVING IT. THEY WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO MAKE THE TURN. TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY DUE TO MILEAGE AND NOT INCLUDED IN POWER-TRAIN WARRANTY. AND NO RECALLS ON THIS ITEM, ALTHOUGH THROUGH RESEARCH I SEE THERE IS ONE FOR THE 2014 YEAR MODEL. THE DEALERSHIP HAS INFORMED ME THAT IT WILL COST ME 1800 DOLLARS FOR THE REPAIR.
VEHICLE EXPERIENCES SUDDEN & RAPID POWER LOSS, DECELERATION AND VEHICLE SHUTTERING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. OCCURS QUICKLY AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING, PRESENTING MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AS IT HAS ALMOST CAUSED SEVERAL VEHICLE CRASHES. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THIS CAN RESULT IN SEVERE VEHICLE DAMAGE AND POTENTIAL INJURIES. DEALER ATTRIBUTES ISSUE TO BE WITH THE THROTTLE BODY AND HAS BEEN A PROBLEM ON A NUMBER OF FORD VEHICLES OVER THE LAST 2 YEARS. I HAVE VERIFIED THIS BY INTERNET QUERY. I HAVE NOT SEEN OR RECEIVED ANY NOTIFICATION OR RECALLS FROM FORD ON THIS OR ANY OTHER PROBLEMS WITH MY TRUCK MODEL. THE VEHICLE IN QUESTION IS A 2013 FORD F150 WITH THE ECO-BOOST ENGINE.
ON JULY 6,2015 I CAME OUT OF THE GYM ENTERED MY TRUCK ,TURNED IT ON THE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE PEDDLE WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR,LUCKILY I WAS PARKED AND NOT DRIVING WHEN IT HAPPENED OR THE OUTCOME COULD HAVE BEEN DIFFERENT. I CALLED MY DEALER THEY SENT A TOW TRUCK, OUT TO PICK UP MY VEHICLE. BRAKE FLUID WAS LOW IT HAD LEAKED INTERNALLY FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER INTO THE VACUUM LINE THEN INTO BRAKE BOOSTER. THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND THE MASTER CYLINDER. I JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW THAT IT IS HAPPENING.MY TRUCK IS AN ECO BOOST V6 AND IT IS NOW MARCH AND I AM TAKING MY TRUCK BACK IN AS SON AS I CAN GET AN APPOINTMENT BECAUSE OF THE FRONT BRAKES GRINDING AND SQUEEZING, MAKING NOISE WHEN I COME T A STOP. MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 27,000 PLUS MILES. THE BRAKE FAILING HAPPENED AT 22,000 PLUS MILES. I HAVE THE INVOICE AND WORK ORDER IN MY POSSESSION WHEN AND IF IT IS NEEDED . I 'M AS I STATED EARLIER WAS LUCKY I WASN'T MOVING .MY ONLY DISPLEASURE WAS THAT I HAD TO RENT A CAR FOR 2 DAYS OR STAY HOME ,SO EVEN THOUGH THEY DIDN'T CHARGE ME I STILL PAID OVER 200.00 FOR A RENTAL CAR.

THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM AND THE TRUCK IS STILL SITTING THERE AS OF JULY 7TH.

BRAKE RESERVOIR ONCE AGAIN EMPTY. AFTER RESEARCH ONLINE REGARDING MASTER CYLINDER FAILURE, OWNER REPLACED MASTER CYLINDER AND BRAKES ARE WORKING WITHOUT ISSUE.. APPROXIMATELY 1 YEAR AGO, I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA REGARDING A FAULTY MASTER CYLINDER ON OUR FORD TRUCK. I HAD NOTIFIED FORD OF THE ISSUE BUT THE COMPLAINT FELL ON DEAF EARS. RECENTLY, FORD ISSUED A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. THIS RECALL CAME AFTER 9 REPORTED ACCIDENTS AND 1 INJURY. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED. THE FIRST TIME I COULD'VE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT AND THE SECOND TIME SOMEONE IN THE PARKING LOT COULD'VE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT.

CHECKED BRAKE FLUID LEVEL AND FOUND IT WAS ALMOST OUT, LESS THAN A 1/4 INCH IN THE RESERVOIR. CHECKED ENTIRE VEHICLE AND NO LEAKS COULD BE FOUND CALLED CROSSROADS FORD IN CARY, NC AND THEY INDICATED I SHOULD FILL IT WITH DOT3 FLUID AND BRING IT IN. FILLED RESERVOIR TO MAX LINE AND PUMPED BRAKED A FEW TIMES UNTIL THEY WERE FIRM. DROVE TO THE DEALERSHIP, ABOUT 25 MILES. NO ISSUES GETTING TO THE DEALERSHIP OTHER THAN THE BRAKES WERE QUITE SPONGY AND NOT TOO RESPONSIVE. UPON INSPECTION AT THE DEALERSHIP, THEY REMOVED THE MASTER CYLINDER AND FOUND THE FLUID HAD FILLED THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND THE MASTER CYLINDER HAD FAILED.. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM, I'M VERY LUCKY I WASN'T KILLED OR KILLED SOMEONE IN AN ACCIDENT. VEHICLE WAS JUST A LITTLE OVER 500 OUT OF WARRANTY.

WE HAD JUST TAKEN THE EXIT RAMP ONTO THE INTERSTATE. AS WE STARTED TO ACCELERATE TO HIGHWAY SPEED, WE SUDDENLY LOST ALL ACCELERATION. WE DRIFTED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE WHERE WE SAT UNTIL A TOW TRUCK ARRIVED TO BRING OUR VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP. WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE HUMID, SLIGHT DRIZZLE, AND A TEMPERATURE APPROXIMATELY 75^. WE HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM BEFORE, AND HAD NO ISSUES TODAY UNTIL WE STARTED TO ACCELERATE.
'TAKATA RECALL' AFTER STARTING VEHICLE, BEFORE STARTING TO DRIVE, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THEN WHEN DRIVING IS STARTED THERE IS NO POWER STIRRING. OCCASIONAL IF YOU TURN ENGINE OFF AND THEN RESTART, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON AND POWER STIRRING IS INTACT. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON AND OFF SINCE 5/2015 AT 40,000 MILES AND CONTINUES TO THIS DATE 11/4/2017 AT 95,000. IT IS HAPPENING MORE AND MORE OFTEN NOW.
